И$ бы'сть по дн~ехъ мно'ѕњхъ гл~ъ гн~ь къ и^лїи` в лњто, г~ е, гл~я” ше'дъ и^ ја^ви'ся а^ха'вови, да'мъ б^о до'ждъ на лицы` земли”

And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the Lord came to Eliu in the third year, saying, Go, and appear before Achaab, and I will bring rain upon the face of the earth.

І$ и^де и^лїа` къ а^ха'вђ ја^ви'тися. и^ бњ` глаD крњпоk въ самарї'и”

And Eliu went to appear before Achaab: and the famine was severe in Samaria.

И$ призва` а^ха'въ а^вдїа строи'теля до'мђ. и^ а^вдњи' бњ` боја%ся г~а ѕњ'ло”

And Achaab called Abdiu the steward. Now Abdiu feared the Lord greatly.

И$ бы'сть е^гда нача` би'ти е^заве'ль прoрки гн~я. и^ поя` а^вдїи, р~, мђжъ прoрки. и^ скры` я& по н~, въ дво'ю връте'пђ, и^ кормя'ше и^хъ хлњбомъ и^ водо'ю”

And it came to pass when Jezabel smote the prophets of the Lord, that Abdiu took a hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.

И$ рече а^ха'въ къ а^вдїю поиди` б^о про'идевњ на' землю на и^сто'чники во'дныя, и^ на вся'къ пото'къ, да негли` ка'ко ѓ^бря'щевњ бы'лїе, и^ преко'рмивњ ко'ня и^ м#ска`, и^ да не и^зги'нTђ эT скоT”

And Achaab said to Abdiu, Come, and let us go through the land, and to the fountains of water, and to the brooks, if by any means we may find grass, and may save the horses and mules, and so they will not perish from the tents.

И$ раздњли'ста себњ` пђть и^ти` и^мъ. а^ха'въ и^де` пђтеM е^дин#. и^ а^вдїи и^де` пђтем# дрђги'мъ е^ді'нъ”

And they made a division of the way between them to pass through it: Achaab went one way, and Abdiu went by another way alone.

И$ бњ` а^вдїи е^ді'нъ на пђти`. и^ прїиде и^лїя` на срњте'нїе е^мђ. и^ а^вді'и поTща'вся, поклонися на лицы` свое^мъ и^ паде`. и^ рече а^ще т^ы е^си здњ` са'мъ г~и мои и^лїя`”

And Abdiu was alone in the way; and Eliu came alone to meet him: and Abdiu hasted, and fell upon his face, and said, My lord Eliu, art thou indeed he?

И$ рече и^лїя` къ а^вдїю с^е а^зъ е^смь и^ди` и^ повњ'ждъ господи'нђ свое^мђ гл~я, с^е и^лїя`”

And Eliu said to him, I am: go, say to thy master, Behold, Eliu is here.

И$ рече а^вдїя чт^о съгрњши'хъ а^зъ ја%ко предае'ши м^я раба` твое^го в рђцњ а^ха'вли на ё^мре'нїе мое`”

And Abdiu said, What sin have I committed, that thou givest thy servant into the hand of Achaab to slay me?

Жи'въ г~ь б~ъ твои. а^ще е^сть ја^зыk где поD црsтвом# е^го. ка'мо нњ'сть пђща'лъ господиn мои и^ска'ти тебе`. и^ е^гда` рњша нњсть, и^ закля` и^ взыска'ста тебе` въ все'мъ црsтвїи свое^мъ, и^ въ всњхъ земля'хъ своиX и^ не ѓ^брњто'ша тебе`.

As the Lord thy God lives, there is not a nation or kingdom, whither my lord has not sent to seek thee; and if they said, He is not here, then has he set fire to the kingdom and its territories, because he has not found thee.

и^ нн~њ ты` гл~еши м^и, и^ди` възвњсти` господи'нђ свое^мђ и^ рцы` с^е и^лїя`”

And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Eliu is here.

И$ бђдетъ е^гда` а'зъ эTи^дђ` эT тебе` и^ дх~ъ гн~ь во'зметъ т^я. и^ в зе'млю нњ'вкђю в ню'же не вњ'дњ, и^ вни'дђ възвњсти'ти а^ха'вђ и^ не ѓ^бря'щетъ тебе` и^ ё^бї'етъ м^я. и^ ра'бъ твои е^смь боя'ися г~а эT ю'ности мое^я”

And it shall come to pass when I shall have departed from thee, that the Spirit of the Lord shall carry thee to a land which I know not, and I shall go in to tell the matter to Achaab, and he will not find thee and will slay me: yet thy servant fears the Lord from his youth.

И$л^и не сђть възвњсти'ли г~и мо'и ја%же сътвори'хъ. е^гда хотњ` и^зби'ти е^заве'ль прoрки гн~я. и^ взяX эT прoркъ гн~ь, р~, мђжъ. и^ скрыхъ я& въ веrте'пњ по н~, и^ корми'хъ я& хлњбом# и^ водо'ю.

Has it not been told to thee my lord, what I did when Jezabel slew the prophets of the Lord, that I hid a hundred men of the prophets of the Lord, by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?

и^ нн~њ ты` гл~еши и^ди` и^сповњждъ господи'нђ с^е здњ` и^лїя` и^ ё^бїеT м^я”

¹⁴

And now thou sayest to me, Go, say to thy master, Behold, Eliu is here: and he shall slay me.

¹⁵

И$ рече и^лїя` жи'въ г~ь си'лъ е^мђже преDстою` пред ни'мъ ја^ко днsь покажђ'ся е^мђ”

¹⁵

And Eliu said, As the Lord of Hosts before whom I stand lives, to-day I will appear before him.

¹⁶

І$ и^де` а^вдїя противђ а^ха'вђ и^ възвњсти` е^мђ, и^ ё^скори` а^ха'въ и^де` на срњте'нїе и^лїи`”

¹⁶

And Abdiu went to meet Achaab, and told him: and Achaab hasted forth, and went to meet Eliu.

И$ бысть е^гда ё^зрњ а^ха'въ и^лїю`. и^ рече а^ха'въ къ и^лїи`, а^ще ты` л^и е^си развраща'я і^и^л~я”

¹⁷

And it came to pass when Achaab saw Eliu, that Achaab said to Eliu, Art thou he that perverts Israel?

И$ реq и^лїя` не развраща'ю а^зъ і^и^л~я н^оты` и^ до'мъ эTц~а твое^го внегда` ѓ^стави'сте вы` г~а б~а вашеh і^ и^до'сте въ слDњ ваа'ла”

¹⁸

And Eliu said, I do not pervert Israel; but it is thou and thy father's house, in that ye forsake the Lord your God, and thou hast gone after Baalim.

¹⁹

И$ нн~њ пђсти и^ събери къ мнњ весь і^и^л~ь, на горђ` кармильскђю, и^ прoрки без#стђдныя. ваа'ловы. у~, и^ н~, и^ прoркъ, ме'рскихъ у~, и н~. ја^дђщиX трапе'зђ і^е^завелинђ”

And now send, gather to me all Israel to mount Carmel, and the prophets of shame four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, that eat at Jezabel's table.

И$ посла` а^ха'въ въ ве'сь і^и^л~ь и^ приведе` вся прoрки на горђ` карми'льскђю”

And Achaab sent to all Israel, and gathered all the prophets to mount Carmel.

И$ приведе` къ всњмъ и^мъ и^лїю`. и^ реq и^мъ и^лїя` доко'лњ в^ы хра'млете на ѓ%бњ пле'снђ ва'шею. а^ще е^сть г~ь б~ъ и^дњте въ слњ'дъ е^го. а^ще л^и ваа'ль е^сть т^о и^дњте за ни'мъ и^ не эTвњща'ша лю'дїе”

And Eliu drew near to them all: and Eliu said to them, How long wilt ye halt on both feet? if the Lord be God, follow him; but if Baal, follow him. And the people answered not a word.

И$ рече и^лїя` к лю'деM а^зъ е^смь ѓ^ста'хъ прoркъ гн~ь е^ді'нъ и^ прoрцы ваа'ловы, у~ и^ н~, мђжъ”

And Eliu said to the people, I am left, the only one prophet of the Lord; and the prophets of Baal are four hundred and fifty men, and the prophets of the groves four hundred.

И$ рече и^лїя` дади'те н^ы дв^а ю%нца и^ да и^зберете` себњ е^ді'нъ и^ да расте'шђтъ и& на ё'ды, и^ възло'жатъ на дрова` и^ да не пригнњтя'тъ ѓ^гня` и^ а^зъ растешђ` ю'нецъ дрђгїи. и^ ѓ^гня` не пригнещђ`”

Let them give us two oxen, and let them choose one for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, and put no fire on the wood: and I will dress the other bullock, and put on no fire.

И$ да призовете` и%мена бо'гъ ва'ших#, и^ а'зъ призовђ` и%мя г~а б~а мое^го, и^ то'и е^сть б~ъ и^же а'ще послђшае^тъ ѓ^гне'мъ т^о е^сть б~ъ. и^ эTвњща'ша вс^и лю'дїе рњша до'бръ гл~ъ, и^же гл~а, да бђдеT та'ко”

And do ye call loudly on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord my God, and it shall come to pass that the God who shall answer by fire, he is God. And all the people answered and said, The word which thou hast spoken is good.

И$ рече и^лїя` прoркомъ беZстDђнымъ и^зберњте себњ` ю%нецъ е^ді'нъ. и^ сътворите вы` пре'жде, ја%ко вы` еs мно'жаише. и^ призовњте и^мена боh ва'шихъ. и^ ѓ^гня` не пригнњща'ите”

And Eliu said to the prophets of shame, Choose to yourselves one calf, and dress it first, for ye are many; and call ye on the name of your god; but apply no fire.

И$ поја%ша ю%нецъ, и^ сътвориша та'ко и^ призыва'хђ и^мя ваа'лово эT ё'тра и^ до по'лђ дн~е. и^ рњша послђшаи наs ваа'ле послђшаи насъ. и^ не бњ` гла'са ни послђша'нїя. и^ риста'хђ ѓ^ жрътве'ницњхъ и^же сътвориша”

And they took the calf and drest it, and called on the name of Baal from morning till noon, and said, Hear us, O Baal, hear us. And there was no voice, neither was there hearing, and they ran up and down on the altar which they had made.

²⁷

И$ быs в# полђ дн~е, и^ порђга'ся и^мъ и^лїя` џезвитянинъ, и^ рече зовите гла'соM великиM ја%ко непра'зньство е^мђ е^сть. е^да чт^о и^но строи и^л^и ё^снђлъ бђдеT и^ да ѓ^бђ'дите и&”

And it was noon, and Eliu the Thesbite mocked them, and said, Call with a loud voice, for he is a god; for he is meditating, or else perhaps he is engaged in business, or perhaps he is asleep, and is to be awaked.

И$ зовя'хђ гласоM вели'кимъ. и^ кра'ја^хђся по ѓ^бы'чаю свое^мђ но'жи. и^ мно'ѕи би'шася съ бичми до проли'тїя кро'ви свое^я”

²⁸

And they cried with a loud voice, and cut themselves according to their custom with knives and lancets until the blood gushed out upon them.

²⁹

И$ бы'сть до эTвече'рїя и^ прорица'хђ до'ндеже бы'сть врњмя взыти жрътвњ и^ не бњ` гла'са” И$ рече и^лїя` џезви'тянинъ проро'комъ безстђдныM гл~я ѓ^ста'нете эT нн~њ і^ а'зъ сътворю` жрътвђ мою`, и^ ё^ста'ша и^ ё^млъко'ша”

And they prophesied until the evening came; and it came to pass as it was the time of the offering of the sacrifice, that Eliu the Thesbite spoke to the prophets of the abominations, saying, Stand by for the present, and I will offer my sacrifice. And they stood aside and departed.

И$ рече и^лїя` к лю'демъ пристђпите къ мн^њ. пристђпиша вс^и лю'дїе к немђ`

³⁰

And Eliu said to the people, Come near to me. And all the people came near to him.

³¹

и^ прїја%тъ, в~і, ка'менїи по числђ` колњнъ і^и^л~евъ, ја^коже гл~а к немђ` г~ь гл~я і^и^л~ь бђдеT и%мя твое`”

³¹

And Eliu took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of Israel, as the Lord spoke to him, saying, Israel shall be thy name.

И$ създа` ѓ^лта'рь въ и^мя гн~е і^ и^сцњли` ѓ^лта'рь гн~ь раско'пан#ныи и^ сътвори` мо'ре въмњща'ю^ще дв^њ мњ'рњ сњмене ѓ%крsтъ ѓ^лтаря`”

And he built up the stones in the name of the Lord, and repaired the altar that had been broken down; and he made a trench that would hold two measures of seed round about the altar.

³³

И$ въскладе` дрова` на ѓlтаr и^же сътвори. и^ растеса` на ё'ды вс^ясъжига'емая, и^ възложи` на дрова`”

And he piled the cleft wood on the altar which he had made, and divided the whole-burnt-offering, and laid it on the wood, and laid it in order on the altar, and said, Fetch me four pitchers of water, and pour it on the whole-burnt-offering, and on the wood. And they did so.

И$ рече и^лїя` прїимњте м^и д~ водоно'сы воды`. и^ възлива'ите на вс^есъж#же'ная и^ дрова`. и^ сътвори'ша та'ко. и^ рече ё^двои'те и^ ё^двои'ша. и^ рече ё^троите и^ ё^трои'ша

And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time.

³⁵

и^ прохожа'ше вода` ѓ%крsтъ ѓ^лтаря` и^ мо'ре и^спо'лнь воды`”

³⁵

And the water ran round about the altar, and they filled the trench with water.

³⁶

И$ възопи` и^лїя на' нб~о и^ рече. г~и бж~е а^враа'моv и^саа'ковъ і^а'ковль послђшаи мене г~и послђшаи мене дне'сь ѓ^гне'мъ. да дне'сь разђмњ'ютъ вс^и лю'дїе сїи` ја%коты` е^си г~ь б~ъ е^ді'нъ і^и^л~евъ и^ а'зъ ра'бъ твои и^ тебе` ради сътвори'х# дњла` с^и”

And Eliu cried aloud to heaven, and said, Lord God of Abraam, and Isaac, and Israel, answer me, O Lord, answer me this day by fire, and let all this people know that thou art the Lord, the God of Israel, and I am thy servant, and for thy sake I have wrought these works.

³⁷

Послђшаи м^я г~и послђшаи мене` ѓ^гне'мъ, и^ да разђмњ'ют# вс^и лю'дїе сїи` ја%коты` е^си е^ді'нъ г~ь б~ъ и^ ты` ѓ^брати'лъ е^си срDца людїи сихъ въ слњдъ”

Hear me, O Lord, hear me, and let this people know that thou art the Lord God, and thou hast turned back the heart of this people.

³⁸

И$ спаде` ѓ%гнь эT г~а с нб~се и^ поја%сть вс^ясъжига'емая и^ дрова` и^ ка'менїе и^ пе'рсть, и^ во'дђ ја%же бњ` в мо'ри вс^я полиза` ѓ%гнь”

³⁸

Then fire fell from the Lord out of heaven, and devoured the whole-burnt-offerings, and the wood and the water that was in the trench, and the fire licked up the stones and the earth.

³⁹

И$ падо'ша вс^и лю'дїе ни'цы и^ рњша въи'стиннђ г~ь то'и е^сть б~ъ

³⁹

And all the people fell upon their faces, and said, Truly the Lord is God; he is God.

И$ реq и^лїя` к лю'деM поима'ите прoро'ки ваа'ловы да ни е^діn скры'ется эT ниX. и^ прїя'ша и^ веде` я& и^лїя` на пото'къ ки'совъ, и^ закла` иX т^ђ”

And Eliu said to the people, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them; and Eliu brings them down to the brook Kisson, and he slew them there.

И$ рече и^лїя` къ а^ха'вђ взы'иди ја%жъ и^ пїи. ја%ко глsа е^сть дожде'внаh и^схожде'нїя”

And Eliu said to Achaab, Go up, and eat and drink, for there is a sound of the coming of rain.

И$ възы'иде а^ха'въ ја%сти и^ пи'ти і^ и^лїя` взы'иде на каръми'лъ и^ прекло'нься на' землю и^ положи` лице` свое` междђ` колњнома свои'ма”

And Achaab went up to eat and to drink; and Eliu went up to Carmel, and stooped to the ground, and put his face between his knees,

И$ рече ѓ^тро'чищђ свое^мђ в#зы'иди, и^ възри` пђте'мъ мо'рскиM. и^ възы'иде и^ възрњ` ѓ^тро'чищъ и^ рече нњ'сть ничто'же. и^ рече и^лїя` т^оты` ѓ^брати'ся седми'жды”

and said to his servant, Go up, and look toward the sea. And the servant looked, and said, There is nothing: and Eliu said, Do thou then go again seven times.

И$ бы'сть ја%ко ѓ^брати'ся се'дмое. и^ с^е ѓ%блак# ма'лъ ја^ко нога'ма мђжескама възнося` во'дњ эT мо'ря. и^ рече взы'иди и^ рцы` а^ха'вови въпряжи колесни'цђ свою. и^ сни'ди да тебе не ѓ^бы'идетъ до'ждъ” И$ бы'въ до'здњ и^ до'здњ,

And the servant went again seven times: and it came to pass at the seventh time, that, behold, a little cloud like the sole of a man's foot brought water; and he said, Go up, and say to Achaab, Make ready thy chariot, and go down, lest the rain overtake thee.

и^ нб~о примрачи'ся ѓ%блаки и^ дх~омъ. и бы'сть дождъ ве'лїи. и^ пла'чася и^де` а^ха'въ до і^и^л~я”

And it came to pass in the meanwhile, that the heaven grew black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Achaab wept, and went to Jezrael.

⁴⁶

И$ рђка` гн~я быs на и^лїи. и^ стя'гл# чре'сла своя и^ тече` преD а^ха'вомъ до і^и^л~я”

⁴⁶

And the hand of the Lord was upon Eliu, and he girt up his loins, and ran before Achaab to Jezrael.
