And the Lord said to Joshua, Fear not, nor be timorous: take with thee all the men of war, and arise, go up to Gai; behold, I have given into thy hands the king of Gai, and his land.

И$ да сътвори'ши га'ю и^ цр~ю е^го, ја%коже сътвори` і^е^рихо'нђ и^ цр~ю е^го. полоn же и^ ско'ты е^го да плњниши себњ`, ё^стро'и же себњ` поDсадђ гра'да за собо'ю”

And thou shalt do to Gai, as thou didst to Jericho and its king; and thou shalt take to thyself the spoil of its cattle; set now for thyself an ambush for the city behind.

И$ въста'въ і^сђ'съ и^ вс^и мђж'и во'иньстїи, да въни'дђтъ въ га'и. і^ и^збра` і^сђ'съ, л~, ты'сящъ мђ'жъ во'инъскиX си'лныX крњ'постїю, и^ посла` но'щїю”

And Joshua and all the men of war rose to go up to Gai; and Joshua chose out thirty thousand mighty men, and he sent them away by night.

И$ заповњ'да и^мъ гл~я, в^ы съкры'итеся за гра'домъ. да не бђдете дале'че гра'да ѕњ'ло. и^ да бђдете вс^и гото'ви”

And he charged them, saying, Do ye lie in ambush behind the city: do not go far from the city, and ye shall all be ready.

А/з# же и^ вс^и людїе и^же съ мно'ю. пристђ'пимъ къ гра'дђ, и^ да бђ'детъ е^гда` и^зы'идђтъ живђщїи въ га'и, въ стрњте'нїе на'мъ ја%коже и^ пре'жде” Побњ'гнеM эT лица` и^хъ

And I and all with me will draw near to the city: and it shall come to pass when the inhabitants of Gai shall come forth to meet us, as before, that we will flee from before them.

и^ ја%коже и^зы'идђтъ въ слDњ наs, да эTба'вимъ я& эT гра'да, и^ рекђтъ бњжа'тъ сї'и эT лица` на'шего ја%коже и^ пре'жде”

And when they shall come out after us, we will draw them away from the city; and they will say, These men flee from before us, as also before.

Вы^ же въста'вше эT кро'ва да вни'дете въ гра'дъ, и^ преда'стъ иX г~ь б~ъ на'шъ в рђцњ ва'ши”

And ye shall rise up out of the ambuscade, and go into the city.

Бђ'ди же и^ ја%коже во'зметъ граD да запали'те и& ѓ^гне'мъ по словеси` гн~ю сътвори'те, с^е заповњ'даю ваM”

Ye shall do according to this word, lo! I have commanded you.

И$ посла` я& і^сђ'съ, і^ и^до'ша въ заста'вы и^ сњдо'ша межDђ веџи'лемъ, и^ ме'ждђ га'иеM, эT мо'ря га'иска”

And Joshua sent them, and they went to lie in ambush; and they lay between Bæthel and Gai, westward of Gai.

И$ ѓ^бђтрњ'въ і^сђ'съ заё%тра съгляда` лю'ди. и^ възы'иде сам# и^ ста'рцы і^и^л~ьтестїи преD людми въ га'и”

And Joshua rose up early in the morning, and numbered the people; and he went up, he and the elders before the people to Gai.

И$ вс^и лю'дїе во'инстїи с ни'мъ възыидо'ша, і^ и^дђщи прїидо'ша сђпроти'въ гра'да эT въсто'ка.

And all the men of war went up with him, and they went forward and came over against the city eastward.
12
и^ ѓ^поlчи'шася эT сњ'вера въ га'и, и^ бы'сть де'бр# межDђ и'ми и^ межDђ га'ие^мъ” И$ вз^я ја%ко, Wе~, мђжїи, и^ положи` и^хъ на поDса'дђ междђ` веџи'лемъ и^ гаие^мъ эT за'пада гра'да”

And the ambuscade was on the west side of the city.

И$ прибли'жишася лю'дїе ве'сь по'лкъ эT сњ'вера гра'да, а^ ѓ^ста'тки е^го эT мо'ря гра'да, и^ по'иде і^сђ'съ но'щи ѓ^ноя` посредњ де'бри”

And it came to pass when the king of Gai saw it, he hasted and went out to meet them direct to the battle, he and all the people that were with him: and he knew not that there was an ambuscade formed against him behind the city.

И$ бы'сть ја%ко ви'дњ цр~ь га'искїи, потща'ся заё%тра и^зы'ти и^ мђжи граDстїи проти'вђ и^мъ прямо” И$ быs е^гда` ё^ви'дњ с^е цр~ь га'искїи, а%бїе въста'въ ра'но, і^ и^зыдо'ша мђжїе га'истїи на' брань, са'мъ и^ вс^и лю'дїе е^го. въ' время преD лицеM заста'въ, сїи же не вњ'дяша ја%ко поDса'да е^сть за гра'доM е^го”

And Joshua and Israel saw, and retreated from before them.

И$ ё^ви'дњвъ я& і^сђ'съ эTи^де и^ ве'сь лю'дъ эT лица` и^хъ, и^ бего'ша пђте'мъ въ пђсты'ню”

And they pursued after the children of Israel, and they themselves went to a distance from the city.

И$ премо'гъ же ве'сь лю'дъ гна'ти по ниX, и^ прельсти'шася. и^ погна'ша въ слњ'дъ сн~овъ і^и^л~евъ, и^ эTстђпи'ша эT гра'да”
17
There was no one left in Gai who did not pursue after Israel; and they left the city open, and pursued after Israel.

И$ не ѓ^ста` никто'же въ га'и и^ веџи'ль, н^о гна'ша вс^и въ слDњ і^и^л~я. и^ ѓ^ста'виша гра'дъ эTве'рстъ, и^ гна'ша въ слњ'дъ і^и^л~я”

And the Lord said to Joshua, Stretch forth thy hand with the spear that is in thy hand toward the city, for I have delivered it into thy hands; and the liers in wait shall rise up quickly out of their place.

И$ реq г~ь къ і^сђ'сђ простри` рђ'кђ свою` и^ копїе` и^же в рђцњ` твое'й на гра'дъ, ја%ко в рђ'кђ твою` предаX и&” И$ простре` і^сђсъ рђ'кђ свою` и^ копїе` на градъ,

And Joshua stretched out his hand and his spear toward the city, and the ambuscade rose up quickly out of their place; and they came forth when he stretched out his hand; and they entered into the city, and took it; and they hasted and burnt the city with fire.

и^ заста'вы въста'ша ско'ро эT мњста свое^го. і^ и^зыидо'ша е^гда` простре` рђ'кђ и^ вънидо'ша въ гра'дъ и^ взя'ша и&. и^ пот#ща'вшася запали'ша е^го ѓ^гне'мъ”
20
And when the inhabitants of Gai looked round behind them, then they saw the smoke going up out of the city to heaven, and they were no longer able to flee this way or that way.

И$ ѓ^зрњвшеся ѓ^баватели насеlницы га'истїи въспя'ть и^хъ ё^зрњш'а ды'мъ въсходя'ще эT гра'да до нб~се. и^ посе'мъ не и^мњша ка'мо побњ'гнђти н^и сњмо н^и ѓ^ва'мо. лю'дїе же эTбњ'гшїи въ пђсты'ню въз#врати'шася на гони'тели”

And Joshua and all Israel saw that the ambuscade had taken the city, and that the smoke of the city went up to heaven; and they turned and smote the men of Gai.

І$сђсъ же и^ весь і^и^л~ь ви'дњвше, ја%ко взяша заставы гра'дъ. и^ ја%ко въсходитъ дымъ гра'дныи до нб~се, и^ ѓ^братившеся. і^ и^збыша мђжи га'искїи”

And these came forth out of the city to meet them; and they were in the midst of the army, some being on this side, and some on that; and they smote them until there was not left of them one who survived and escaped.

Сїи же и^зыдо'ша и^з града проти'вђ и^мъ, и^ ѓ^бъя'ша и^хъ эTвсюдђ і^и^л~ьтяне. сїи эT сїю странђ`, а^ и'нїи ѓ^бо'нђ странђ`, і^ и^збиша я&. дон#деже не ѓ^ста` н^и е^ді'нъ эT нихъ цњлъ н^и ё^бњжа”

And they took the king of Gai alive, and brought him to Joshua.

Цр~я же га'иска ја%ша жи'ва и^ приведо'ша и& къ і^сђ'сђ”
24
And when the children of Israel had ceased slaying all that were in Gai, and in the fields, and in the mountain on the descent, from whence they pursued them even to the end, then Joshua returned to Gai, and smote it with the edge of the sword.

И$ бы'сть ја%ко преста'ша сн~ове і^и^л~еви сњкђщ'и насеlникъ га'искихъ. на' полехъ въ горњ` до и^схо'да. на не'мъже и^хъ гони'ша и^дњже падо'ша вс^и ѓ%стрїеM меча`” И$ ѓ^брати'ся ве'сь і^и^л~ь въ га'и и^ посњ'че я& мече'м#”

And they that fell in that day, men and women, were twelve thousand: they slew all the inhabitants of Gai.

И$ бы'ша вс^и паDшїи въ то'и дн~ь эT мђже'ска по'лђ и^ до же'ньска, в~і ты'сящь, всњ'хъ живђщиX въ га'и”

Beside the spoils that were in the city, all things which the children of Israel took as spoil for themselves according to the command of the Lord, as the Lord commanded Joshua.

І$сђ'съ же не ѓ^брати` рђ'кђ ја%же просте'р# копїе'мъ на землю`. до'ндеже прокля` всњхъ ѓ^бита'ющиX въ га'и”
28
And Joshua burnt the city with fire: he made it an uninhabited heap for ever, even to this day.
27
Ра'звњ скота` и^хъ і^ и^мњ'нїа и^же въ' градњ ѓ%ноM плени'ша себњ` сн~ове і^и^л~еви, по повелњ'нїю гн~ю ја%коже повелњ` і^сђ'сђ”

And he hanged the king of Gai on a gallows; and he remained on the tree till evening: and when the sun went down, Joshua gave charge, and they took down his body from the tree, and cast it into a pit, and they set over him a heap of stones until this day.

И$ запали` гра'дъ і^сђ'съ ѓ^гне'мъ, и^ е'сть без# ё^селе'нїя въ вњ'къ, и^ е^сть ѓ^пђстњнїемъ даже и^ до сего` дн~е”

Цр~я же га'иска повњ'си на' древњ, и^ бяше на' древњ до' вечера. заходя'щђ же слн~цђ, повелњ` і^сђсъ. и^ сня'ша тњло е^го съ дре'ва и^ поверго'ша и& въ пото'цњ, преD враты града, і^ и^ссыпа наD ниM моги'лђ вели'кђ каменїеM и^ до сего` дн~е”

Тогда` съгради` і^сђ'съ ѓ^лта'рь, гв~и б~ђ і^и^л~евђ въ горњ` гаи^ва'лъ”

ЈА/коже б^њ заповњ'да мољ=сїи рабъ гн~ь сн~омъ і^и^л~евымъ. ја%коже пи'шетъ въ законњ мољ=сїѓ^вњ, ѓ^лта'рь эT ка'менїи нете'саныхъ. на нихъже нњсть ся възложило желњзо, и^ възнесе` т^ђ все`съж#женїе гв~и требђ сп~сенїя”

И$ въписа` і^сђсъ на камыцњхъ, вторы'и законъ, законъ мољ=сїѓ^въ. и^же написа` преD сн~ы і^и^л~евыми”

Весь же і^и^л~ь и^ старцы и^хъ сђдїи` иX и^ книгочїа иX, преходяхђ ѓ^ба полы съ странђ` ковче'га. преD жерцы` и^ левљ=ти възDвиза'ющими ковчегъ завњта гн~я. пришелецъ же и^ т^ђземецъ и^же бяхђ полъ и^хъ близъ горы` гава'лъ, и^ пол# и^хъ близъ горы` е^валъ. ја%коже б^њ заповњ'да мољ=сїи рабъ гн~ь. блsвяще люди і^и^л~евы въ первыX”

По семђ же тако почте` вс^я словеса` закона сего`, блsвенїа и^ клятвы. по всемђ` писа'нїю въ законњ мољ=сїѓ^вњ”
35
И$ не бы'сть словеси` ѓ^ всXњ и^же заповњ'да мољ=сїи. е^гоже не почте` і^сђсъ въ ё%ши всемђ` соньмђ сн~овъ і^и^л~евъ, мђжеM и^ женаM и^ дњтемъ, и^ пришелцемъ, ходящимъ посредњ и^хъ”
