Now the children of Israel swore in Massephath, saying, No man of us shall give his daughter to Benjamin for a wife.

И$ прїидоша лю'ди въ веџи'ль. и сњдњша тђ до' вечера преD гм~ъ. и^ въз#двиго'ша глsа свои, и^ пла'кашеся пла'чемъ ве'лїимъ” И$ реко'ша

And the people came to Bæthel, and sat there until evening before God: and they lifted up their voice and wept with a great weeping;

въскђю г~и б~е і^и^л~евъ, бы'сть си'це дне'сь въ і^и^л~и. е^же эTлђчи'ся эT і^и^л~я племя` е^ді'но”

and said, Wherefore, O Lord God of Israel, has this come to pass, that to-day one tribe should be counted as missing from Israel?

И$ бы'сть наё%трїя ѓ^бђт'рњша лю'дїе. и^ съгради'ша т^ђ ѓ^лта'рь. и^ възнесо'ша вс^есъж#же'нїе сп~сенїя” И$ реко'ша сн~ове і^и^л~ви

And it came to pass on the morrow that the people rose up early, and built there an altar, and offered up whole-burnt-offerings and peace-offerings.

кт^о е^сть и^же не възше'лъ въ собо'ръ эT всњхъ племе'нъ і^и^л~ь къ г~ђ. ја^ко вели'ка кля'тва бя'ше, не вшеDшим# къ г~ђ въ маси'џъ, гл~юще да и^змрTђ смр~тїю”

And the children of Israel said, Who of all the tribes of Israel, went not up in the congregation to the Lord? for there was a great oath concerning those who went not up to the Lord to Massephath, saying, He shall surely be put to death.

И$ жалњша сн~ове і^и^л~еви ѓ^ венїа^ми'нњ бра'те своеM. и^ реко'ша и^ ѓ^сњ'чено днsе е^ді'но племя` эT і^и^л~я”

And the children of Israel relented toward Benjamin their brother, and said, To-day one tribe is cut off from Israel.

Чт^о сътво'римъ ѓ^ста'вшихъ ѓ^ жена'хъ. а^ мы` кля'хомся гм~ъ, не да'ти и^мъ эT дще'рїи на'шихъ в жены`”

What shall we do for wives for the rest that remain? whereas we have sworn by the Lord, not to give them of our daughters for wives.

И$ реко'ша кт^о е^сть е^ді'нъ эT племе'ни і^и^л~евъ, и^же не взы'и^де къ гв~и въ маси'џъ. и^ с^е не прїиде нї е^ді'нъ в полкъ эT а^ви'съ галаа'довыхъ в со'ньмъ”

And they said, What one man is there of the tribes of Israel, who went not up to the Lord to Massephath? and, behold, no man came to the camp from Jabis Galaad to the assembly.

И$ съгляда'ша людїи и^ с^е не бя'ше т^ђ мђжа, эT живђщихъ въ а^ви'сњ галаа'довњ”

And the people were numbered, and there was not there a man from the inhabitants of Jabis Galaad.

И$ посла'ша та'мо со'ньмъ Wв~і мђжъ си'лы. и^ заповњ'даша и^мъ гл~юще, и^дњте і^ и^збїите живђщая въ а^ви'сњ галаа'довњ, ѓ^рђжїемъ же'ны и^ наро'ди”

And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the strongest, and they charged them, saying, Go ye and smite the inhabitants of Jabis Galaad with the edge of the sword.

Се же сътвори'те всемђ` мђжескђ по'лђ, и^ все'и женњ` позна'вшеи ло'же мђжеско, побїите. А$ дв~цњ живи'те и^ сътвори'ша та'ко”

And this shall ye do: every male and every woman that has known the lying with man ye shall devote to destruction, but the virgins ye shall save alive: and they did so.
12
И$ ѓ^брњто'ша эT живђщихъ въ и^а^ви'се галаа'довњ. у~, дв~ць дв~ою, ја%же не позна'ша ложа мђжеска. и^ приведо'ша я& в по'лчище в сило'мъ, и^же е^сть в земли` ханаа'нњ”

And they found among the inhabitants of Jabis Galaad four hundred young virgins, who had not known man by lying with him; and they brought them to Selom in the land of Chanaan.

И$ посла` весь со'нмъ. и^ гл~аша къ сн~омъ вениа^ми'новыM. и^же в камы'цњ рем#мо'ни. и^ призва'ша и& съ ми'ромъ”

And all the congregation sent and spoke to the children of Benjamin in the rock Remmon, and invited them to make peace.

И$ ѓ^брати'ся венїа^ми'нъ къ сн~омъ і^и^л~евыM в т^о вре'мя, и^ да'ша иM сн~ове і^и^л~еви же'ны ја^же жи'во съхра'нше эT дще'реи а^ви'с#съ галаа'дова. и^ ё^годи'ша и^мъ та'ко,

And Benjamin returned to the children of Israel at that time, and the children of Israel gave them the women whom they had saved alive of the daughters of Jabis Galaad; and they were content.

и^ лю'дїе же ё^мили'шася ѓ^ венїа^ми'нњ. ја^ко сътвори` г~ь разлђче'нїе в племе'нехъ і^и^л~евыхъ”

And the people relented for Benjamin, because the Lord had made a breach in the tribes of Israel.
16
И$ реко'ша ста'рцы со'нма чт^о сътво'римъ ѓ^ста'вшимъ ѓ^ жена'хъ. ја%ко поги'бе эT венїа^ми'на жена`”

And the elders of the congregation said, What shall we do for wives for them that remain? for the women have been destroyed out of Benjamin.
17
И$ ка'ко бђ'детъ прича'стїе ё^цњлњвшихъ эT вениа^ми'на. да не поги'бнетъ племя` эT і^и^л~я”
17
And they said, There must be an inheritance of them that are escaped of Benjamin; and so a tribe shall not be destroyed out of Israel.
18
А$ м^ы не возмо'жемъ да'ти иM же'нъ эT дще'рїи нашиX ја%ко кля'шася сн~ове і^и^л~еви гл~юще, про'клятъ дая` женђ` венїа^ми'нђ”

For we shall not be able to give them wives of our daughters, because we swore among the children of Israel, saying, Cursed is he that gives a wife to Benjamin.
19
И$ реко'ша с^е пра'здникъ г~ђ в сило'мњ эT дн~їи въ дн~ь. и^же е^сть эT сњвера къ веџи'лю, на въсто'къ сл~нцђ ё^ пђти` въсходя'щаго, эT веџи'ля в сихе'мъ, и^ эT юга лево'ны”

And they said, Lo! now there is a feast of the Lord from year to year in Selom, which is on the north of Bæthel, eastward on the way that goes up from Bæthel to Sychem, and from the south of Lebona.

И$ заповњ'даша сн~омъ вениа^ми'немъ гл~юще. и^дњте и^ пресњди'те въ виногра'дњхъ”

And they charged the children of Benjamin, saying, Go and lie in wait in the vineyards;
21
И$ смотри'те а^ще и^зы'дђтъ дще'ри живђщихъ в сило'мњ, пляса'ти въ ли'ки да и^зы'дете и^з виногра'да и^ да въсхи'тите мђжъ женђ` себњ эT дще'рїи сило'мль. да эTи'дете на' землю венїа^ми'ню”

and ye shall see; and lo! if there come out the daughters of the inhabitants of Selom to dance in dances, then shall ye go out of the vineyards and seize for yourselves every man a wife of the daughters of Selom, and go ye into the land of Benjamin.

И$ е^гда` бђдетъ прїидђтъ эTц~ы и^хъ и^ бра'тїя и^хъ прњтися к на'мъ. и^ речемъ иM поми'лђите я&. ја^ко нњсть мђжъ поја%лъ жены` своея в# по'лце, ја%ко м^ы нњ'смы дали` и^мъ же'нъ. ја%ко не съгрњши'сте”

And it shall come to pass, when their fathers or their brethren come to dispute with us, that we will say to them, Grant them freely to us, for we have not taken every man his wife in the battle: because ye did not give to them according to the occasion, ye transgressed.

И$ сътвори'ша та'ко сн~ове венїа^ми'ни. и^ поя'ша же'ны по числђ иX эT пля'шђщиX ја%же въсхити'ша эTи^до'ша, и^ възврати'шася въ прича'стїе свое. и^ съграdша гра'ды, и^ всели'шася в ни'хъ”

And the children of Benjamin did so; and they took wives according to their number from the dancers whom they seized: and they went and returned to their inheritance, and built the cities, and dwelt in them.
24
И$ эTи^до'ша эTтђдђ сн~ове і^и^л~еви в т^о вре'мя, и^ мђжъ въ племя` свое и^ в роD свои і^ и^зы'де эTтђдђ мђж# въ прича'стїе свое” И$ в ты` дн~и не бя'ше цр~я въ і^и^л~и, и^ мђжъ е^же ё^го'дно преD ѓ^чи'ма творя'ше”

And the children of Israel went thence at that time every man to his tribe and his kindred; and they went thence every man to his inheritance.
