The vision of Obdias. Thus saith the Lord God to Idumea; I have heard a report from the Lord, and he has sent forth a message to the nations.

се ма'ла да'хъ т^я странамъ, безъ чести т^ы е^си ѕњло.

Arise ye, and let us rise up against her to war.

презоръ срDца твое^го въздви'же т^я живђщаго вᲆ пеще'рахъ ка'менахъ. възвыша'яй храмъ сво'и, гл~яи въ срDцы свое^мъ, кт^о м^я съве'ржетъ на' землю.

Behold, I have made thee small among the Gentiles: thou art greatly dishonoured. The pride of thine heart has elated thee, dwelling as thou dost in the holes of the rocks, as one that exalts his habitation, saying in his heart, Who will bring me down to the ground?

а^ще въꙁнесешися ја%ко и^ ѓ^релъ, и^ сътвори'ши с^и гнњздо средњ ѕвњздъ, и^ эTтђдђ све'ргђ т^я гл~етъ г~ь.

If thou shouldest mount up as the eagle, and if thou shouldest make thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord.

а^ще та'тїе бы'ша вълњꙁли к тебњ` и^л^и разбо'иницы но'щїю, ка'мо б^ы эTве'рженъ. не бы'ша л^и ё^кра'ли до сы'тостнаh себњ`. и^л^и а^ще бы'ша е%млющеи винограD вълњ'зли к# тебњ, т^о не бы'ша л^и ѓ^ста'вили па'родокъ.

If thieves came in to thee, or robbers by night, where wouldest thou have been cast away? would they not have stolen just enough for themselves? and if grape-gatherers went in to thee, would they not leave a gleaning?

ка'ко ѓ^бъи^скася и^са'въ, и^ ѓ^ста'ша съкровен#ная е^го.

How has Esau been searched out, and how have his hidden things been detected?

до предњлъ и^спђсти'ша т^я вс^и мђжи завњта твое^го съпроти'виша ти ся. премого'ша т^я мђжи мир#ницы ᲄвои`. ја^дђщеи с тобо'ю положи'ша ле'сть поD тобою, нњсть смы'сла в не'мъ”

They sent thee to thy coasts: all the men of thy covenant have withstood thee; thine allies have prevailed against thee, they have set snares under thee: they have no understanding.

Въ то'и дн~ь гл~етъ г~ь, погђблю` премђдрыя эT и^дђме'а, и^ смы'слъ эT горы` и^са'вовы.

In that day, saith the Lord, I will destroy the wise men out of Idumea, and understanding out of the mount of Esau.

и^ ё^боя'тся вои^ни твои` и^же эT џема'нᲆ, ја%ко да эTи^меTся чл~къ эT горы` и^савовы,

And thy warriors from Thæman shall be dismayed, to the end that man may be cut off from the mount of Esau.

сњченїя ра'ди и^ бесчестїя е^же на бра'та свое^го і^а'кова. ја%ви стыдњнїе, и^ эTвръжешися въ вњкъ.

Because of the slaughter and the sin committed against thy brother Jacob, shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.

эT него'же дн~е съпротивися эT съпроти'вныхъ въ дн~ь плњня'ющихъ и^ноплемен#никъ си'лђ е^го. и^ стран#ницы в#нидо'ша въ вра'та е^го, і^ ѓ^ і^ерлsимњ въз#вергоша жребїя. и^ т^ы бња'ше ја%ко е^ді'нъ эT нихъ.

From the day that thou stoodest in opposition to him, in the days when foreigners were taking captive his forces, and strangers entered into his gates, and cast lots on Jerusalem, thou also wast as one of them.

не бђ'ди ви'дњлъ дн~е по бр'атњ свое^мъ въ дн~ь щюжDихъ. и^ не бђ'дися ра'довалъ по сн~охъ і^ё'динXњ въ дн~ь погибели и^хъ. и^ не бђди воз#гл~алъ велики рњчи въ дн~ь ско'рби и^хъ”

And thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day of strangers; nor shouldest thou have rejoiced against the children of Juda in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have boasted in the day of their affliction.

и^ не въходи въ вра'та лю'дїи мои^хъ въ дн~ь бо'лњзни и^хъ. и^ не ви'ждь послњди` на со'нмъ и^хъ въ дн~ь потребле'нїя и^х#. и^ не прилага'и на си'лђ и^хъ въ дн~ь поги'бели и^хъ”

Neither shouldest thou have gone into the gates of the people in the day of their troubles; nor yet shouldest thou have looked upon their gathering in the day of their destruction, nor shouldest thou have attacked their host in the day of their perishing.

не престаи на и^ꙁбњгъ и^хъ потребити и^збыва'ющая эT нихъ. и^ не преста'и бњжа'щая и^хъ въ дн~ь скор#би и^хъ.

¹⁴

Neither shouldest thou have stood at the opening of their passages, to destroy utterly those of them that were escaping; neither shouldest thou have shut up his fugitives in the day of affliction.

и%мже приближа'ется дн~ь гн~ь на вс^я ја%ꙁы'ки. ја%коже сътвори`, си'це бђдетъ т^и. въꙁдаа'нїе твое` възда'сться на главђ` твою`.

For the day of the Lord is near upon all the Gentiles: as thou hast done, so shall it be done to thee: thy recompense shall be returned on thine own head.

поне'же ја%коже е^си пи'лъ ё^ горы` моея` ст~ыа, и^спїютъ вс^я страны` вино`, и^спїюT и^ възы'идђтъ и^ бђдђтъ по и^стиннњ ја^ко не бы'вшеи.

¹⁶

For as thou hast drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the nations drink wine; they shall drink, and go down, and be as if they were not.

вᲆ го'рњ же сїѓ'нᲇ бђдетъ сп~съ, и^ бђдетъ ст~а” и^ преи^мђтъ до'мъ і^а'ковль прее^мъшая и^хъ.

¹⁷

But on mount Sion there shall be deliverance, and there shall be a sanctuary; and the house of Jacob shall take for an inheritance those that took them for an inheritance.

и^ бђдетъ до'мъ і^а'ковль ѓ%гнь, и^ до'мъ і^ѓ'сифовъ пла'мы, а^ до'мъ и^са'вовъ ја%ко тростїе. и^ꙁгорятъ в ниX и^ поја^дя'тъ я&. и^ не бђдеT и^збавляа'й до'мђ и^савова, ја%ко г~ь гл~а.

And the house of Jacob shall be fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau shall be for stubble; and Israel shall flame forth against them, and shall devour them, and there shall not be a corn-field left to the house of Esau; because the Lord has spoken.

и^ прїимђтᲆ и^же въ а^гевњ горђ и^са'вовђ, і^ и^же в раздолїи т^о и^ноплемен#ники. и^ прїимђтъ го'рђ е^фрњмовђ, и^ поля'нђ самарїискђ, а^ венїамиn галаа^дит#скђ.

And they that dwell in the south shall inherit the mount of Esau, and they in the plain the Philistines: and they shall inherit the mount of Ephraim, and the plain of Samaria, and Benjamin, and the land of Galaad.

преселенїю с^е нача'токъ сн~овъ і^и^л~евъ земля ханане'иска до сареп#џы. преселенїе же і^ерsли'мле до е^фра'та. и^ пленя'тъ гра'ды нагев#вовы.

And this shall be the domain of the captivity of the children of Israel, the land of the Chananites as far as Sarepta; and the captives of Jerusalem shall inherit as far as Ephratha; they shall inherit the cities of the south.

и^ възы'идђтъ сп~са'емїи эT горы` сїѓ'ня м#сти'ти горы и^савовы. и^ бђдеT црsтво гв~и”

And they that escape shall come up from mount Sion, to take vengeance on the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord's.
