І собра́ цар Соломо́н вся старі́йшини Ізра́їлеви, вся нача́ла колі́н, старі́йшини оте́честв сино́в Ізра́їлевих к себі́ во Сіо́н, є́же пренести́ киво́т заві́та Госпо́дня от гра́да Дави́дова, той єсть Сіо́н.

And it came to pass when Solomon had finished building the house of the Lord and his own house after twenty years, then king Solomon assembled all the elders of Israel in Sion, to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, this is Sion,

І собра́шася ко царю́ Соломо́ну всі лю́діє Ізра́їлеви в мі́сяць Афани́м в пра́здник; сей єсть мі́сяць седьми́й.

in the month of Athanin.

³

І прийдо́ша всі старі́йшини Ізра́їлеви, і взя́ша ієре́є киво́т,

And the priests took up the ark,

⁴

і вознесо́ша киво́т Госпо́день, і ски́нію свиді́нія, і вся сосу́ди святи́я, я́же во ски́нії свиді́нія; і вознесо́ша я ієре́є і леви́ти.

and the tabernacle of testimony, and the holy furniture that was in the tabernacle of testimony.

⁵

Цар же Соломо́н і весь собо́р Ізра́їльський, собра́вшеся к нему́, с ним пред киво́том жря́ху воли́ і о́вці несочте́нни, безчи́сленни от мно́жества.

And the king and all Israel were occupied before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, without number.

⁶

І внесо́ша ієре́є киво́т заві́та Госпо́дня на мі́сто єго́ во дави́р хра́ма, во свята́я святи́х, под кри́ла херуви́мов.

⁶

And the priests bring in the ark into its place, into the oracle of the house, even into the holy of holies, under the wings of the cherubs.

⁷

Херуви́ми бо бі́ша распросте́рше крилі́ над мі́стом киво́та, і окрива́ху херуви́ми над киво́том і над святи́ми єго́ сверху́.

For the cherubs spread out their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubs covered the ark and its holy things above.

⁸

І обдержа́ста освяще́ная; і зря́хуся глави́ освяще́нних от святи́х к лицю́ дави́ра, і не явля́хуся вні.

⁸

And the holy staves projected, and the ends of the holy staves appeared out of the holy places in front of the oracle, and were not seen without.

⁹

Не бі в киво́ті то́кмо дві скрижа́лі ка́менни, скрижа́лі заві́та, ї́хже положи́ Моїсе́й в Хори́ві, я́же завіща́ Госпо́дь со сина́ми Ізра́їлевими, внегда́ ісходи́ти їм от землі́ Єги́петськия.

There was nothing in the ark except the two tables of stone, the tables of the covenant which Moses put there in Choreb, which tables the Lord made as a covenant with the children of Israel in their going forth from the land of Egypt.

І бисть, єгда́ ізидо́ша ієре́є із святи́лища, і о́блак іспо́лни храм Госпо́день,

And it came to pass when the priests departed out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house.

¹¹

і не можа́ху ієре́є ста́ти служи́ти от лиця́ о́блака, я́ко іспо́лни сла́ва Госпо́дня храм.

¹¹

And the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, because the glory of the Lord filled the house.

¹²

Тогда́ рече́ Соломо́н: Госпо́дь рече́, є́же обита́ти во мглі,

¹⁴

And the king turned his face, and the king blessed all Israel, (and the whole assembly of Israel stood:)

¹³

аз же созда́х дом і́мені Твоєму́ свят Тебі́ і гото́в, і престо́лу Твоєму́, є́же обита́ти Тебі́ в нем во ві́ки.

¹⁵

and he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel to-day, who spoke by his mouth concerning David my father, and has fulfilled it with his hands, saying,

¹⁴

І обрати́ цар лице́ своє́, і благослови́ цар всего́ Ізра́їля; весь же собо́р Ізра́їлев стоя́ше.

¹⁶

From the day that I brought out my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any one tribe of Israel to build a house, so that my name should be there: but I chose Jerusalem that my name should be there, and I chose David to be over my people Israel.

¹⁵

І рече́ (цар): благослове́н Госпо́дь Бог Ізра́їлев днесь, і́же глаго́ла усти́ Свої́ми о Дави́ді, отці́ моє́м, і рука́ма Свої́ма іспо́лни, глаго́ля:

And it was in the heart of my father to build a house to the name of the Lord God of Israel.

¹⁶

от дне в о́ньже ізведо́х лю́ди Моя́ Ізра́їля із Єги́пта, не ізбра́х гра́да от всіх племе́н Ізра́їлевих на созда́ніє хра́му, є́же би́ти і́мені Моєму́ та́мо; но ізбра́х во Ієрусали́мі би́ти і́мені Моєму́ та́мо; і ізбра́х Дави́да би́ти єму́ властели́ну над людьми́ Мої́ми Ізра́їлем;

And the Lord said to David my father, Forasmuch as it came into thine heart to build a house to my name, thou didst well that it came upon thine heart.

¹⁷

і бисть на се́рдці отцю́ моєму́ Дави́ду, є́же созда́ти храм і́мені Го́спода Бо́га Ізра́їлева,

¹⁹

Nevertheless thou shalt not build the house, but thy son that has proceeded out of thy bowels, he shall build the house to my name.

¹⁸

і рече́ Госпо́дь к Дави́ду, отцю́ моєму́: поне́же взи́де на се́рдце твоє́ є́же созда́ти храм і́мені Моєму́, до́брі сотвори́л єси́, я́ко бисть на се́рдці твоє́м;

²⁰

And the Lord has confirmed the word that he spoke, and I am risen up in the place of my father David, and I have sat down on the throne of Israel, as the Lord spoke, and I have built the house to the name of the Lord God of Israel.

¹⁹

оба́че ти не сози́ждеши хра́ма, но ра́зві син твой, і́же ізи́де із чресл твої́х, той сози́ждеть храм і́мені Моєму́;

And I have set there a place for the ark, in which is the covenant of the Lord, which the Lord made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

²⁰

і возста́ви Госпо́дь глаго́л Свой єго́же глаго́ла; і воста́х вмі́сто Дави́да, отця́ моєго́, і сідо́х на престо́лі Ізра́їлеві, я́коже глаго́ла Госпо́дь, і созда́х храм і́мені Го́спода Бо́га Ізра́їлева,

And Solomon stood up in front of the altar before all the congregation of Israel; and he spread out his hands toward heaven:

і поста́вих та́мо мі́сто киво́ту, в не́мже єсть та́мо заві́т Госпо́день, єго́же завіща́ Госпо́дь со отці́ на́шими во ізвожде́нії їх із землі́ Єги́петськия.

²³

and he said, Lord God of Israel, there is no God like thee in heaven above and on the earth beneath, keeping covenant and mercy with thy servant who walks before thee with all his heart;

²²

І ста Соломо́н пред лице́м олтаря́ Госпо́дня пред всім собо́ром Ізра́їлевим і воздви́же ру́ці свої́ на не́бо,

²⁴

which thou hast kept toward thy servant David my father: for thou hast spoken by thy mouth and thou hast fulfilled it with thine hands, as at this day.

²³

і рече́: Го́споди Бо́же Ізра́їлев, ність, я́коже ти Бог на небесі́ горі́ і на землі́ ни́зу, храня́й заві́т і ми́лость рабу́ твоєму́ ходя́щему пред Тобо́ю всім се́рдцем свої́м,

²⁵

And now, O Lord God of Israel, keep for thy servant David my father, the promises which thou hast spoken to him, saying, There shall not be taken from thee a man sitting before me on the throne of Israel, provided only thy children shall take heed to their ways, to walk before me as thou hast walked before me.

²⁴

я́же сохрани́л єси́ рабу́ Твоєму́ Дави́ду, отцю́ моєму́; і́бо глаго́лал єси́ усти́ Твої́ми і рука́ма Твої́ма соверши́л єси́, я́коже день сей;

²⁶

And now, O Lord God of Israel, let, I pray thee, thy word to David my father be confirmed.

²⁵

і ни́ні, Го́споди Бо́же Ізра́їлев, сохрани́ рабу́ Твоєму́ Дави́ду, отцю́ моєму́, я́же рекл єси́ єму́, глаго́ля: не оскуді́єть муж от лиця́ Моєго́ сідя́й на престо́лі Ізра́їлеві, то́кмо а́ще сохраня́ть ча́да твоя́ путі́ своя́, є́же ходи́ти предо Мно́ю, я́коже ходи́л єси́ предо Мно́ю;

²⁷

But will God indeed dwell with men upon the earth? if the heaven and heaven of heavens will not suffice thee, how much less even this house which I have built to thy name?

²⁶

і ни́ні, Го́споди Бо́же Ізра́їлев, да уві́риться глаго́л Твой, єго́же рекл єси́ Дави́ду, отцю́ моєму́:

²⁸

Yet, O Lord God of Israel, thou shalt look upon my petition, to hear the prayer which thy servant prays to thee in thy presence this day,

²⁷

я́ко а́ще і́стинно всели́ться Бог с челові́ки на землі́? а́ще не́бо і не́бо небесе́ не довлі́ють Ті, кольми́ па́че храм сей, єго́же созда́х і́мені Твоєму́?

²⁹

that thine eyes may be open toward this house day and night, even toward the place of which thou saidst, My name shall be there, to hear the prayer which thy servant prays at this place day and night.

²⁸

і да при́зриши на моли́тву мою́, Го́споди Бо́же Ізра́їлев, послу́шати моли́тви, є́юже мо́литься раб Твой пред Тобо́ю к Тебі́ днесь,

³⁰

And thou shalt hearken to the prayer of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, which they shall pray toward this place; and thou shalt hear in thy dwelling-place in heaven, and thou shalt do and be gracious.

²⁹

да бу́дуть о́чі Твої́ отве́рсти на храм сей день і нощ, на мі́сто, о не́мже рекл єси́: бу́деть і́м'я Моє́ та́мо на усли́шаніє моли́тви, є́юже мо́литься раб Твой на мі́сті сем день і нощ;

³¹

Whatsoever trespasses any one shall commit against his neighbour,—and if he shall take upon him an oath so that he should swear, and he shall come and make confession before thine altar in this house,

³⁰

і усли́шиши моли́тву раба́ Твоєго́ і люді́й Твої́х Ізра́їля, о ни́хже помо́ляться на мі́сті сем; і Ти усли́шиши на мі́сті обита́лища Твоєго́ на небесі́, і сотвори́ши і поми́луєши;

³²

then shalt thou hear from heaven, and do, and thou shalt judge thy people Israel, that the wicked should be condemned, to recompense his way upon his head; and to justify the righteous, to give to him according to his righteousness.

³¹

єли́ка а́ще согріши́ть ки́йждо ко і́скреннему своєму́, і а́ще при́йметь на него́ кля́тву, є́же кля́ти єго́, і при́йдеть, і іспові́сть пред лице́м олтаря́ Твоєго́ в хра́мі сем,

³³

When thy people Israel falls before enemies, because they shall sin against thee, and they shall return and confess to thy name, and they shall pray and supplicate in this house,

³²

і Ти усли́шиши от небесе́, і сотвори́ши суд лю́дем Твої́м Ізра́їлю: осуди́ти беззако́ннаго, да́ти путь єго́ на главу́ єго́, і оправди́ти пра́веднаго, да́ти єму́ по пра́вді єго́;

³⁴

then shalt thou hear from heaven, and be gracious to the sins of thy people Israel, and thou shalt restore them to the land which thou gavest to their fathers.

³³

єгда́ паду́ть лю́діє Твої́ Ізра́їль пред враги́, я́ко согріша́т Ті, і обратя́ться к Тебі́, і іспові́дяться і́мені Твоєму́, і помо́ляться і возглаго́лють моли́тву к Тебі́ в хра́мі сем:

³⁵

When the heaven is restrained, and there is no rain, because they shall sin against thee, and they shall pray toward this place, and shall make confession to thy name, and shall turn from their sins when thou shalt have humbled them,

³⁴

і Ти усли́шиши с небесе́, і ми́лостив бу́деши о согріше́ніїх люді́й Свої́х Ізра́їля, і возврати́ши я в зе́млю, ю́же дал єси́ отце́м їх;

³⁶

then thou shalt hear from heaven, and be merciful to the sins of thy servant and of thy people Israel; for thou shalt shew them the good way to walk in it, and thou shalt give rain upon the earth which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.

³⁵

внегда́ заключи́тися небесі́ і не би́ти дождю́, я́ко согріша́т Ті, і помо́ляться на мі́сті сем, і іспові́дяться і́мені Твоєму́, і от гріх свої́х обратя́ться, єгда́ смири́ши їх;

³⁷

If there should be famine, if there should be death, because there should be blasting, locust, or if there be mildew, and if their enemy oppress them in any one of their cities, with regard to every calamity, every trouble,

³⁶

і усли́шиши с небесе́, і ми́лостив бу́деши о грісі́х раба́ Твоєго́ і люді́й Твої́х Ізра́їля; я́ко яви́ши їм путь благи́й ходи́ти по нему́, і да́си дождь на зе́млю, ю́же дал єси́ лю́дем Твої́м в достоя́ніє;

³⁸

every prayer, every supplication whatever shall be made by any man, as they shall know each the plague of his heart, and shall spread abroad his hands to this house,

³⁷

глад а́ще бу́деть, смерть а́ще бу́деть, єгда́ бу́деть возжже́ніє, гу́сениці, ржа а́ще бу́деть, і а́ще оскорб'я́ть я вразі́ їх в єди́нім от градо́в їх, все проти́вноє, вся́ка болі́знь,

³⁹

then shalt thou hearken from heaven, out of thine established dwelling-place, and shalt be merciful, and shalt do, and recompense to every man according to his ways, as thou shalt know his heart, for thou alone knowest the heart of all the children of men:

³⁸

вся́ка моли́тва, вся́ко моле́ніє а́ще бу́деть вся́кому челові́ку от люді́й Ізра́їлевих, єгда́ позна́єть ки́йждо болі́знь се́рдця своєго́ і воздви́гнеть ру́ці свої́ в хра́мі сем,

that they may fear thee all the days that they live upon the land, which thou hast given to our fathers.

³⁹

і Ти усли́шиши от небесе́, от гото́ваго жили́ща Твоєго́, і ми́лостив бу́деши, і сотвори́ши, і да́си коєму́ждо по путе́м єго́, я́коже уві́си се́рдце єго́, я́ко Ти єди́н то́кмо ві́си всіх сердця́ сино́в челові́чеських;

And for the stranger who is not of thy people,
