And the Philistines fought with Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and they fall down wounded in the mountain of Gelbue.

И иноплеме́нницы воєва́ху на Ізра́иля, и бѣжа́ша му́жіє Ізра́илевы от лица́ иноплеме́ннича, и па́даху я́звенніи на горѣ́ гелвує́.

And the Philistines press closely on Saul and his sons, and the Philistines smite Jonathan, and Aminadab, and Melchisa son of Saul.

И снидо́шася иноплеме́нницы съ Сау́ломъ и съ сынми́ єго́, и уби́ша иноплеме́нницы Іонаѳа́на и Амінада́ва и Мелхісу́а, сы́ны Сау́ловы.

And the battle prevails against Saul, and the shooters with arrows, even the archers find him, and he was wounded under the ribs.

И отяготѣ́ бра́нь на Сау́ла, и обрѣто́ша єго́ копе́йницы му́жіє стрѣлцы́, и уя́звенъ бы́сть [сау́лъ] во утро́бу.

And Saul said to his armour-bearer, Draw thy sword and pierce me through with it; lest these uncircumcised come and pierce me through, and mock me. But his armour-bearer would not, for he feared greatly: so Saul took his sword and fell upon it.

И рече́ Сау́лъ къ нося́щему ору́жіє єго́: изсу́ни ме́чь тво́й и прободи́ мя и́мъ, да не пріи́дутъ необрѣ́занніи сі́и и избоду́тъ мя́, и поруга́ются мнѣ́. И не хотя́ше нося́й ору́жіє єго́, я́ко убоя́ся зѣло́. И взя́ Сау́лъ ме́чь сво́й и паде́ на него́.

And his armour-bearer saw that Saul was dead, and he fell also himself upon his sword, and died with him.

И ви́дѣ нося́й ору́жіє єго́, я́ко у́мре Сау́лъ, и паде́ и то́й на ме́чь сво́й и у́мре съ ни́мъ.

So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armour-bearer, in that day together.

⁶

И у́мре Сау́лъ и тріє́ сы́нове єго́, и нося́й ору́жіє єго́, и вси́ му́жіє єго́ въ де́нь то́й ку́пно.

And the men of Israel who were on the other side of the valley, and those beyond Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead; and they leave their cities and flee: and the Philistines come and dwell in them.

И ви́дѣша му́жіє Ізра́илстіи, и́же объ о́нъ по́лъ юдо́ли и и́же объ о́нъ по́лъ Іорда́на, я́ко бѣжа́ша му́жіє Ізра́илстіи, и я́ко у́мре Сау́лъ и сы́нове єго́, и оста́виша гра́ды своя́ и бѣжа́ша: и пріидо́ша иноплеме́нницы и всели́шася въ ни́хъ.

And it came to pass on the morrow that the Philistines come to strip the dead, and they find Saul and his three sons fallen on the mountains of Gelbue.

И бы́сть на у́тріє, и пріидо́ша иноплеме́нницы обнажи́ти ме́ртвыхъ, и обрѣто́ша Сау́ла и три́ сы́ны єго́ па́дшыя на горѣ́ гелвує́,

And they turned him, and stripped off his armour, and sent it into the land of the Philistines, sending round glad tidings to their idols and to the people.

и обрати́ша єго́, и сня́ша ору́жіє єго́, и отсѣко́ша главу́ єго́, и посла́ша въ зе́млю иноплеме́нничу о́крестъ возвѣща́юще і́доломъ и́хъ и лю́демъ и́хъ:

And they set up his armour at the temple of Astarte, and they fastened his body on the wall of Bæthsam.

и положи́ша ору́жіє єго́ у Аста́рта, тѣ́ло же єго́ воткну́ша на стѣнѣ́ веѳса́мли.

And the inhabitants of Jabis Galaad hear what the Philistines did to Saul.

И услы́шаша живу́щіи во Іаві́сѣ Галаадіті́йстѣмъ, я́же сотвори́ша иноплеме́нницы Сау́лу,

And they rose up, even every man of might, and marched all night, and took the body of Saul and the body of Jonathan his son from the wall of Bæthsam; and they bring them to Jabis, and burn them there.

и воста́ша вси́ му́жіє си́льніи, и идо́ша всю́ но́щь, и взя́ша тѣ́ло Сау́лово и тѣ́ло Іонаѳа́на сы́на єго́ съ стѣны́ веѳса́мски, и принесо́ша я́ во Іаві́съ, и сожго́ша я́ та́мо:

And they take their bones, and bury them in the field that is in Jabis, and fast seven days.

и взя́ша ко́сти и́хъ, и погребо́ша я́ въ дубра́вѣ я́же во Іаві́сѣ, и пости́шася се́дмь дні́й.
