The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not I only, but also all they that know the truth;

Старець — обраній господині і дітям її, яких я дійсно люблю, і не тільки я, а й усі, що пізнали істину,

for the truth’s sake which abideth in us, and it shall be with us forever:

заради істини, що перебуває в нас і буде з нами повік.

Grace, mercy, peace shall be with us, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

Hехай буде з вами благодать, милість, мир від Бога Отця і від Господа Ісуса Христа, Сина Отчого, в істині й любові.

I rejoice greatly that I have found certain of thy children walking in truth, even as we received commandment from the Father.

Я дуже зрадів, що знайшов між твоїми дітьми таких, що ходять в істині, як ми прийняли заповідь від Отця.

And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though writing to thee a new commandment, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

І нині благаю тебе, господине, не як нову заповідь пишу тобі, а як ту, що ми маємо від початку, щоб ми любили один одного.

And this is love, that we should walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, even as ye heard from the beginning, that ye should walk in it.

Любов же полягає в тому, щоб ми жили за Його заповідями. Це та заповідь, яку ви чули від початку, та щоб жили згідно з нею.

For many deceivers are entered into the world, even they that confess not that Jesus Christ cometh in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.

Бо багато з тих, хто вводить в оману, увійшло в світ; вони не сповідують Ісуса Христа, Який прийшов у плоті: така людина є спокусник і антихрист.

Look to yourselves, that we lose not the things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

Пильнуйте себе, щоб нам не загубити того, над чим ми трудились, але щоб одержати повну нагороду.

Whosoever transgresseth and abideth not in the teaching of Christ, hath not God: he that abideth in the teaching of Christ, the same hath both the Father and the Son.

Кожен, хто переступає вчення Христове і не перебуває в Hьому, не має Бога; хто перебуває в ученні Христовому, має і Отця і Сина.

If anyone cometh unto you, and bringeth not this teaching, receive him not into your house, and give him no greeting:

Хто приходить до вас і не приносить цього вчення, того не приймайте в дім і не вітайте його.

for he that giveth him greeting partaketh in his evil works.

Бо той, хто його вітає, бере участь у злих ділах його.

Having many things to write unto you, I would not write them with paper and ink: but I hope to come unto you, and to speak face to face, that our joy may be made full.

Багато чого маю написати вам, але не хочу на папері чорнилами, а маю надію прийти до вас і говорити устами до уст, щоб радість ваша була повна.

The children of thine elect sister salute thee. Amen.
