| В нача́лі сотвори́ Бог не́бо і зе́млю. | In the beginning God made the heaven and the earth. |
|

| Земля́ же бі неви́дима і неустро́єна, і тьма верху́ бе́здни, і Дух Бо́жий ноша́шеся верху́ води́. | But the earth was unsightly and unfurnished, and darkness was over the deep, and the Spirit of God moved over the water. |
|

|
| І рече́ Бог: да бу́деть світ. І бисть світ. | And God said, Let there be light, and there was light. |
|

|

|
| І ви́ді Бог світ, я́ко добро́, і разлучи́ Бог между́ сві́том і между́ тмо́ю. | And God saw the light that it was good, and God divided between the light and the darkness. |
|

|
| І нарече́ Бог світ день, а тьму нарече́ нощ. І бисть ве́чер, і бисть у́тро, день єди́н. | And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night, and there was evening and there was morning, the first day. |
|

| І рече́ Бог: да бу́деть твердь посреді́ води́, і да бу́деть разлуча́ющи посреді́ води́ і води́. І бисть та́ко. | And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the water, and let it be a division between water and water, and it was so. |

| І сотвори́ Бог твердь, і разлучи́ Бог между́ водо́ю, я́же бі под тве́рдію, і между́ водо́ю, я́же бі над тве́рдію. | And God made the firmament, and God divided between the water which was under the firmament and the water which was above the firmament. |

| І нарече́ Бог твердь не́бо. І ви́ді Бог, я́ко добро́. І бисть ве́чер, і бисть у́тро, день втори́й. | And God called the firmament Heaven, and God saw that it was good, and there was evening and there was morning, the second day. |

| І рече́ Бог: да собере́ться вода́, я́же под небесе́м, в собра́ніє єди́но, і да яви́ться су́ша. І бисть та́ко. І собра́ся вода́, я́же под небесе́м, в собра́нія своя́, і яви́ся су́ша. | And God said, Let the water which is under the heaven be collected into one place, and let the dry land appear, and it was so. And the water which was under the heaven was collected into its places, and the dry land appeared. |

| І нарече́ Бог су́шу зе́млю, і собра́нія вод нарече́ моря́. І ви́ді Бог, я́ко добро́. | And God called the dry land Earth, and the gatherings of the waters he called Seas, and God saw that it was good. |

| І рече́ Бог: да прорасти́ть земля́ би́ліє травно́є, сі́ющеє сі́м'я по ро́ду і по подо́бію, і дре́во плодови́тоє творя́щеє плод, єму́же сі́м'я єго́ в нем, по ро́ду на землі́. І бисть та́ко. | And God said, Let the earth bring forth the herb of grass bearing seed according to its kind and according to its likeness, and the fruit-tree bearing fruit whose seed is in it, according to its kind on the earth, and it was so. |

| І ізнесе́ земля́ би́ліє травно́є, сі́ющеє сі́м'я по ро́ду і по подо́бію, і дре́во плодови́тоє творя́щеє плод, єму́же сі́м'я єго́ в нем, по ро́ду на землі́. І ви́ді Бог, я́ко добро́. | And the earth brought forth the herb of grass bearing seed according to its kind and according to its likeness, and the fruit tree bearing fruit whose seed is in it, according to its kind on the earth, and God saw that it was good. |

| І бисть ве́чер, і бисть у́тро, день тре́тій. | And there was evening and there was morning, the third day. |

| І рече́ Бог: да бу́дуть світи́ла на тве́рді небе́сній освіща́ти зе́млю і разлуча́ти между́ днем і между́ но́щію, і да бу́дуть в зна́менія і во времена́, і во дні і в лі́та, | And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, to divide between day and night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and for years. |

| і да бу́дуть в просвіще́ніє на тве́рді небе́сній, я́ко світи́ти по землі́. І бисть та́ко. | And let them be for light in the firmament of the heaven, so as to shine upon the earth, and it was so. |
|

| І сотвори́ Бог два світи́ла вели́кая: світи́ло вели́коє в нача́ла дне, і світи́ло ме́ншеє в нача́ла но́щі, і зві́зди: | And God made the two great lights, the greater light for regulating the day and the lesser light for regulating the night, the stars also. |

| і положи́ я Бог на тве́рді небе́сній, я́ко світи́ти на зе́млю, | And God placed them in the firmament of the heaven, so as to shine upon the earth, |
|

|
| і владі́ти днем і но́щію, і разлуча́ти между́ сві́том і между́ тьмо́ю. І ви́ді Бог, я́ко добро́. | and to regulate day and night, and to divide between the light and the darkness. And God saw that it was good. |
|

|
| І бисть ве́чер, і бисть у́тро, день четве́ртий. | And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day. |
|

|
| І рече́ Бог: да ізведу́ть во́ди га́ди душ живи́х, і пти́ці лета́ющия по землі́, по тве́рді небе́сній. І бисть та́ко. | And God said, Let the waters bring forth reptiles having life, and winged creatures flying above the earth in the firmament of heaven, and it was so. |

| І сотвори́ Бог ки́ти вели́кия, і вся́ку ду́шу живо́тних гадо́в, я́же ізведо́ша во́ди по родо́м їх, і вся́ку пти́цю перна́ту по ро́ду. І ви́ді Бог, я́ко добра́. | And God made great whales, and every living reptile, which the waters brought forth according to their kinds, and every creature that flies with wings according to its kind, and God saw that they were good. |

| І благослови́ я Бог, глаго́ля: расті́теся і мно́жітеся, і напо́лніте во́ди, я́же в моря́х, і пти́ці да умно́жаться на землі́. | And God blessed them, saying, Increase and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let the creatures that fly be multiplied on the earth. |

| І бисть ве́чер, і бисть у́тро, день п'я́тий. | And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day. |
|

| І рече́ Бог: да ізведе́ть земля́ ду́шу жи́ву по ро́ду, четвероно́гая і га́ди, і зві́рі землі́ по ро́ду. І бисть та́ко. | And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind, quadrupeds and reptiles and wild beasts of the earth according to their kind, and it was so. |

| І сотвори́ Бог зві́рі землі́ по ро́ду, і скоти́ по ро́ду їх, і вся га́ди землі́ по ро́ду їх. І ви́ді Бог, я́ко добра́. | And God made the wild beasts of the earth according to their kind, and cattle according to their kind, and all the reptiles of the earth according to their kind, and God saw that they were good. |

| І рече́ Бог: сотвори́м челові́ка по о́бразу на́шему і по подо́бію, і да облада́єть ри́бами морськи́ми, і пти́цями небе́сними, (і звірми́) і скота́ми, і все́ю земле́ю, і всі́ми га́ди пресмика́ющимися по землі́. | And God said, Let us make man according to our image and likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the flying creatures of heaven, and over the cattle and all the earth, and over all the reptiles that creep on the earth. |

| І сотвори́ Бог челові́ка, по о́бразу Бо́жию сотвори́ єго́: му́жа і жену́ сотвори́ їх. | And God made man, according to the image of God he made him, male and female he made them. |

| І благослови́ їх Бог, глаго́ля: расті́теся і мно́жітеся, і напо́лніте зе́млю, і госпо́дствуйте є́ю, і облада́йте ри́бами морськи́ми, (і звірми́) і пти́цями небе́сними, і всі́ми скота́ми, і все́ю земле́ю, і всі́ми га́дами пресмика́ющимися по землі́. | And God blessed them, saying, Increase and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the seas and flying creatures of heaven, and all the cattle and all the earth, and all the reptiles that creep on the earth. |

| І рече́ Бог: се, дах вам вся́кую траву́ сі́менную сі́ющую сі́м'я, є́же єсть верху́ землі́ всея́, і вся́коє дре́во, є́же і́мать в себі́ плод сі́мене сі́меннаго, вам бу́деть в снідь; | And God said, Behold I have given to you every seed-bearing herb sowing seed which is upon all the earth, and every tree which has in itself the fruit of seed that is sown, to you it shall be for food. |

| і всім звіре́м земни́м, і всім пти́цям небе́сним, і вся́кому га́ду пресмика́ющемуся по землі́, і́же і́мать в себі́ ду́шу живота́, і вся́ку траву́ зеле́ну в снідь. І бисть та́ко. | And to all the wild beasts of the earth, and to all the flying creatures of heaven, and to every reptile creeping on the earth, which has in itself the breath of life, even every green plant for food; and it was so. |

| І ви́ді Бог вся, єли́ка сотвори́: і се добра́ зіло́. І бисть ве́чер, і бисть у́тро, день шести́й. | And God saw all the things that he had made, and, behold, they were very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. |

Chapter 2

| І соверши́шася не́бо і земля́, і все украше́ніє їх. | And the heavens and the earth were finished, and the whole world of them. |
|

|
| І соверши́ Бог в день шести́й діла́ Своя́, я́же сотвори́; і почи́ в день седьми́й от всіх діл Свої́х, я́же сотвори́. | And God finished on the sixth day his works which he made, and he ceased on the seventh day from all his works which he made. |
|

|
| І благослови́ Бог день седьми́й, і освяти́ єго́; я́ко в той почи́ от всіх діл Свої́х, я́же нача́т Бог твори́ти. | And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it he ceased from all his works which God began to do. |
|

|
| Сія́ кни́га битія́ небесе́ і землі́, єгда́ бисть, в о́ньже день сотвори́ Госпо́дь Бог не́бо і зе́млю, | This is the book of the generation of heaven and earth, when they were made, in the day in which the Lord God made the heaven and the earth, |

|
| і вся́кий злак се́льний, пре́жде да́же би́ти на землі́, і вся́кую траву́ се́лную, пре́жде да́же прозя́бнути; не бо одожди́ Госпо́дь Бог на зе́млю, і челові́к не бя́ше ді́лати ю; | and every herb of the field before it was on the earth, and all the grass of the field before it sprang up, for God had not rained on the earth, and there was not a man to cultivate it. |

| істо́чник же ісхожда́ше із землі́ і напая́ше все лице́ землі́. | But there rose a fountain out of the earth, and watered the whole face of the earth. |
|

|
| І созда́ Бог челові́ка, персть (взем) от землі́ і вду́ну в лице́ єго́ диха́ніє жи́зні; і бисть челові́к в ду́шу жи́ву. | And God formed the man of dust of the earth, and breathed upon his face the breath of life, and the man became a living soul. |
|

|
| І насади́ Госпо́дь Бог рай во Еде́мі на восто́ціх і введе́ та́мо челові́ка, єго́же созда́. | And God planted a garden eastward in Edem, and placed there the man whom he had formed. |
|

|

|
| І прозябе́ Бог єще́ от землі́ вся́коє дре́во кра́сноє в виді́ніє і до́броє в снідь; і дре́во жи́зні посреді́ рая́, і дре́во є́же ві́діти разумі́тельноє до́браго і лука́ваго. | And God made to spring up also out of the earth every tree beautiful to the eye and good for food, and the tree of life in the midst of the garden, and the tree of learning the knowledge of good and evil. |

| Ріка́ же ісхо́дить із Еде́ма напая́ти рай; отту́ду разлуча́ється в чети́ри нача́ла. | And a river proceeds out of Edem to water the garden, thence it divides itself into four heads. |
|

|
| І́м'я єди́ній Фисо́н; сія́ окружа́ющая всю зе́млю Євила́тськую; та́мо у́бо єсть зла́то. | The name of the one, Phisom, this it is which encircles the whole land of Evilat, where there is gold. |
|

|
| Зла́то же о́ния землі́ до́броє; і та́мо єсть а́нфраx і ка́мень зеле́ний. | And the gold of that land is good, there also is carbuncle and emerald. |
|

|
| І і́м'я ріці́ вторі́й Гео́н; сія́ окружа́ющая всю зе́млю Ефіо́пськую. | And the name of the second river is Geon, this it is which encircles the whole land of Ethiopia. |
