И# бЁ мyжъ живhй въ вавmлHнэ, и4мz же є3мY їwакjмъ.	There dwelt a man in Babylon, called Joacim:

И# поS женY, є4йже и4мz сwсaнна, дщeрь хелкjева, добрA ѕэлw2 и3 боsщисz бGа.	and he took a wife, whose name was Susanna, the daughter of Chelcias, a very fair woman, and one that feared the Lord.

Роди1тєлz же є3S прaвєдна, и3 научи1ста дщeрь свою2 по зак0ну мwmсeову.	Her parents also were righteous, and taught their daughter according to the law of Moses.

Бё же їwакjмъ богaтъ ѕэлw2, и3 бЁ є3мY вертогрaдъ бли1з8 дворA є3гw2: и3 схождaхусz къ немY їудeє, понeже т0й бsше слaвнэе всёхъ.	Now Joacim was a very rich man, and had a fair garden joining unto his house; and to him resorted the Jews; because he was more honourable than all others.

И# и3збр†на бhста двA ст†рца t людjи въ судіи6 въ то2 лёто, њ ни1хже гlа вLка, ћкw и3зhде беззак0ніе и3з8 вавmлHна t стaрєцъ судjй, и5же мнsхусz ўправлsти людjй.	The same year were appointed two of the ancients of the people to be judges, such as the Lord spake of, that wickedness came from Babylon from ancient judges, who seemed to govern the people.

Сі‰ прихождaста чaстw въ д0мъ їwакjмль, и3 прихождaху къ ни1ма вси2 прsщіисz.	These kept much at Joacim's house, and all that had any suits in law came unto them.

И# бhсть, внегдA tхождaху лю1діе њ полyдни, вхождaше сwсaнна и3 хождaше во вертогрaдэ мyжа своегw2.	Now when the people departed away at noon, Susanna went into her husband's garden to walk.

И# смотрsста є3S џба ст†рца по вс‰ дни6 входsщую и3 и3сходsщую, и3 бhста въ похотёніи є3S,	And the two elders saw her going in every day, and walking; so that their lust was inflamed toward her.

и3 разврати1ста ќмъ св0й, и3 ўклон0ста џчи свои2, є4же не взирaти на нeбо, нижE поминaти судeбъ прaведныхъ.	And they perverted their own mind, and turned away their eyes, that they might not look unto heaven, nor remember just judgments.

И# бёста џба ўsзвлєна п0хотію на ню2, и3 не возвэсти1ста дрyъ дрyгу болёзни своеS,	And albeit they both were wounded with her love, yet durst not one shew another his grief.

понeже стыдsстасz и3сповёдати вожделёніе своE, ћкw хотsста бhти съ нeю.	For they were ashamed to declare their lust, that they desired to have to do with her.

И# наблюдaста жад†юща по вс‰ дни6 зрёти ю5, и3 рёста дрyгъ ко дрyгу:	Yet they watched diligently from day to day to see her.

п0йдемъ ќбо въ д0мъ, ћкw њбёда чaсъ є4сть. И# и3зшє1дша разыд0стасz дрyгъ t дрyга,	And the one said to the other, Let us now go home: for it is dinner time.

и3 возвр†щшасz пріид0ста во є3ди1но (мёсто), и3 и3стzз†вша дрyгъ t дрyга вины2, и3сповёдаста дрyгъ дрyгу похотёніе своE, и3 тогдA џбще ўстaвиста врeмz, когдA возм0гутъ џную њбрэсти2 є3ди1ну.	So when they were gone out, they parted the one from the other, and turning back again they came to the same place; and after that they had asked one another the cause, they acknowledged their lust: then appointed they a time both together, when they might find her alone.

И# бhсть є3гдA наблюдaста днE ўг0днагw, вни1де сwсaниа, ћкоже вчерA и3 трeтіzгw днE, со двэмA т0чію nтрокови1цами, и3 восхотЁ мhтисz во вертогрaдэ, ћкw зн0й бsше.	And it fell out, as they watched a fit time, she went in as before with two maids only, and she was desirous to wash herself in the garden: for it was hot.

И# не бsше никогHже тaмw, кромЁ двою2 стaрцєвъ сокровeнныхъ и3 стрегyщихъ є3S.	And there was nobody there save the two elders, that had hid themselves, and watched her.

И# речE nтрокови1цамъ: принеси1те ми2 мaсло и3 мhло и3 двє1ри вертогр†дныz затвори1те, да и3змhюсz.	Then she said to her maids, Bring me oil and washing balls, and shut the garden doors, that I may wash.

И# сотвори1стэ ћкоже речE, и3 затвори1стэ двє1ри вертогр†дныz, и3 и3зыд0стэ зaдними двeрьми принести2 повелённое и4ма, и3 не ви1дэстэ стaрцєвъ, понeже бsста сокровє1нна.	And they did as she bade them, and shut the garden doors, and went out themselves at private doors to fetch the things that she had commanded them: but they saw not the elders, because they were hid.

И# бhсть, є3гдA и3зыд0стэ nтрокови6цы, востaста џба ст†рца, и3 тек0ста къ нeй, и3 рёста:	Now when the maids were gone forth, the two elders rose up, and ran unto her, saying,
20	20
сE, двє1ри њгрaдныz затвори1шасz, и3 никт0же ви1дитъ нaсъ, ґ въ похотёніи твоeмъ є3смы2: сегw2 рaди соизв0ли нaмъ, и3 бyди съ нaми:	Behold, the garden doors are shut, that no man can see us, and we are in love with thee; therefore consent unto us, and lie with us.

ѓще же ни2, то2 послyшествуемъ на тS, ћкw бЁ съ тоб0ю ю4ноша, и3 тогw2 рaди tпусти1ла є3си2 nтрокови1цъ t тебє2.	If thou wilt not, we will bear witness against thee, that a young man was with thee: and therefore thou didst send away thy maids from thee.

И# возстенA сwсaнна и3 речE: тёсно ми2 tвсю1ду: ѓще бо сіE сотворю2, смeрть ми2 є4сть: ѓще же не сотворю2, не и3збёгну t рyкъ вaшихъ:	Then Susanna sighed, and said, I am straitened on every side: for if I do this thing, it is death unto me: and if I do it not, I cannot escape your hands.

и3зволeніе ми2 є4сть не сотвори1вшей впaсти въ рyцэ вaши, нeжели согэши1ти пред8 бGомъ.	It is better for me to fall into your hands, and not do it, than to sin in the sight of the Lord.

И# возопи2 глaсомъ вели1кимъ сwсaнна: возопи1ста же и3 џба ст†рца проти1ву є4й,	With that Susanna cried with a loud voice: and the two elders cried out against her.
25	25
и3 тeкъ є3ди1нъ, tвeрзе двє1ри вертогр†дныz.	Then ran the one, and opened the garden door.
26	26
Е#гдa же ўслhшаша кли1чь во вертогрaдэ домaшніи, вскочи1ша зaдними двeрьми ви1дэти случи1вшеесz є4й.	So when the servants of the house heard the cry in the garden, they rushed in at a private door, to see what was done unto her.

Е#гдa же повёдаста стaрцы словесA сво‰, ўстыдёшасz раби2 є3S ѕэлw2, ћкw николи1же речeсz таково2 сл0во њ сwсaннэ.	But when the elders had declared their matter, the servants were greatly ashamed: for there was never such a report made of Susanna.

И# бhсть наyтріе, є3гдA собрaшасz лю1діе къ мyжу є3S їwакjму, пріид0ста и3 џба ст†рца пHлна беззак0ннагw помышлeніz на сwсaнну, є4же ўмори1ти ю5,	And it came to pass the next day, when the people were assembled to her husband Joacim, the two elders came also full of mischievous imagination against Susanna to put her to death;

и3 рёста пред8 людьми2: посли1те по сwсaнну дщeрь хелкjеву, ћже є4сть женA їwакjмлz. nни1 же послaша.	and said before the people, Send for Susanna, the daughter of Chelcias, Joacim's wife. And so they sent.

И# пріи1де тA и3 роди1тєлz є3S, и3 ч†да є3S и3 вси2 ќжики є3S.	So she came with her father and mother, her children, and all her kindred.

Сwсaнна же бsше младA ѕэлw2 и3 добрA w4бразомъ.	Now Susanna was a very delicate woman, and beauteous to behold.

Беззак0нніи же повелёста tкрhти ю5, бsше бо покровeна, ћкw да насhтzтсz добр0ты є3S.	And these wicked men commanded to uncover her face (for she was covered), that they might be filled with her beauty.

Плaкаху же сyщіи при нeй и3 вси2 знaющіи ю5.	Therefore her friends and all that saw her wept.

Вост†вша же џба ст†рца посредЁ людjй, возложи1ста рyцэ на главY є3S.	Then the two elders stood up in the midst of the people, and laid their hands upon her head.
35	35
Сіs же плaчущи воззрЁ на нeбо, ћкw бsше сeрдце є3S ўповaz на гDа.	And she weeping looked up toward heaven: for her heart trusted in the Lord.
36	36
Рёста же џба ст†рца: ходsщымъ нaмъ nбои1мъ во вертогрaдэ, вни1де сіS со двэмA nтрокови1цами, и3 затвори2 двє1ри вертогр†дныz, и3 tпусти2 nтрокови6цы,	And the elders said, As we walked in the garden alone, this woman came in with two maids, and shut the garden doors, and sent the maids away.

и3 пріи1де къ нeй ю4ноша, и4же бsше сокровeнъ, и3 возлежE съ нeю:	Then a young man, who there was hid, came unto her, and lay with her.
38	38
мh же сyще во ќглэ вертогрaда, ви1дэвше беззак0ніе, тек0хомъ на нS:	Then we that stood in a corner of the garden, seeing this wickedness, ran unto them.
39	39
и3 ви1дэвше и5хъ смэшaющихсz, џнаго ќбw не мог0хомъ ћти понeже пaче нaсъ можaше, и3 tвeрзъ двє1ри вертогр†дныz и3зскочи2:	And when we saw them together, the man we could not hold: for he was stronger than we, and opened the door, and leaped out.

сію1 же є4мше, вопрошaхомъ, кто2 бЁ ю4ноша; и3 не восхотЁ повёдати нaмъ: њ сeмъ послyшествуемъ.	But having taken this woman, we asked who the young man was, but she would not tell us: these things do we testify.
41	41
И# вёрова и4ма с0нмъ ѓки ст†рцємъ людски6мъ и3 судіsмъ, и3 њсуди1ша ю5 на ўмeртвіе.	Then the assembly believed them, as those that were the elders and judges of the people: so they condemned her to death.
42	42
И# возопи2 сwсaнна глaсомъ вели1кимъ и3 речE: б9е вёчиый и3 сокровeнныхъ вёдателю, свёдый вс‰ прeжде бытіS и4хъ!	Then Susanna cried out with a loud voice, and said, O everlasting God, that knowest the secrets, and knowest all things before they be:
43	43
ты2 вёси, ћкw лжY послyшествоваста на мS, и3 сE, ўмирaю, не сотв0рши ничесHже, њ ни1хже сjи слукaвноваста на мS.	thou knowest that they have borne false witness against me, and, behold, I must die; whereas I never did such things as these men have maliciously invented against me.

И# послyша гDь глaса є3S,	And the Lord heard her voice.
45	45
и3 вед0мэй є4й на погублeніе, воздви1же бGъ д¦омъ стhмъ џтрока ю4на, є3мyже и4мz даніи1лъ:	Therefore when she was led to be put to death, the Lord raised up the holy spirit of a young youth, whose name was Daniel:
46	46
и3 возопи2 глaсомъ вели1кимъ: чи1стъ ѓзъ t кр0ве сеS.	who cried with a loud voice, I am clear from the blood of this woman.
47	47
Њбрати1шажесz вси2 лю1діе къ немy и3 рёша: что2 сл0во сіE, є4же ты2 глаг0леши;	Then all the people turned them toward him, and said, What mean these words that thou hast spoken?
48	48
Сeй же стaвъ средЁ и4хъ речE: си1це ли юр0диви, сhнове ї}лєвы, не и3спытaвше, ни и4стины разумёвше, њсуди1сте дщeрь ї}леву;	So he standing in the midst of them said, Are ye such fools, ye sons of Israel, that without examination or knowledge of the truth ye have condemned a daughter of Israel?

возврати1тесz на суди1ще: лжy бо сjи послyшествоваста на ню2.	Return again to the place of judgment: for they have borne false witness against her.
50	50
И# возврати1шасz вси2 лю1діе съ потщaніемъ. И# рёша є3мY стaрцы: грzди2, сsди посредЁ нaсъ и3 возвэсти2 нaмъ, ћкw тебЁ дадE бGъ старёйшинство.	Wherefore all the people turned again in haste, and the elders said unto him, Come, sit down among us, and shew it us, seeing God hath given thee the honour of an elder.

И# речE къ ни6мъ даніи1лъ: разведи1те \| дрyгъ t дрyга далeче, и3 вопрошY и5хъ.	Then said Daniel unto them, Put these two aside one far from another, and I will examine them.

Е#гдa же развед0ша є3ди1наго t другaгw, призвA є3ди1наго t ни1хъ и3 речE къ немY: њбетшaлый ѕлhми дeнми, нн7э приспёша грэси2 твои2, ±же твори1лъ є3си2 прeжде,	So when they were put asunder one from another, he called one of them, and said unto him, O thou that art waxen old in wickedness, now thy sins which thou hast committed aforetime are come to light:

судS суды2 непрaвєдны и3 непови6нныz ќбw њсуждaж, прощaz же пови6нныz, гlющу бGу: непови1нна и3 прaведна не ўбивaй:	for thou hast pronounced false judgment, and hast condemned the innocent, and hast let the guilty go free; albeit the Lord saith, The innocent and righteous shalt thou not slay.

нн7э u5бо сію2 ѓще є3си2 ви1дэлъ, рцы2, под8 кjимъ дрeвомъ ви1дэлъ є3си2 и5хъ бесёдующихъ къ себЁ; Џнъ же речE: под8 тeрномъ.	Now then, if thou hast seen her, tell me, Under what tree sawest thou them companying together? And he said, Under a mastick tree.
55	55
Речe же даніи1лъ: прaвw солгaлъ є3си2 на твою2 главY: сe бо, ѓгGлъ б9ій пріи1мъ tвётъ t бGа, раст0ргнетъ тS полмA.	And Daniel said, Very well; thou hast lied against thine own head; for even now the angel of God hath received the sentence of God to cut thee in two.

И# tпусти1въ є3го2 повелЁ привести2 другaго и3 речE є3мY: плeмz ханаaне, ґ не їyдино, добр0та прельсти1 тz, и3 похотёніе разврати2 сeрдце твоE:	So he put him aside, and commanded to bring the other, and said unto him, O thou seed of Chanaan, and not of Juda, beauty hath deceived thee, and lust hath perverted thine heart.

си1це твори1ли є3стE дщeремъ ї}лєвымъ, w4ныz же боsшzсz живsху съ вaми, но (нн7э) дщeрь їyдина не претерпЁ беззак0ніz вaшегw:	Thus have ye dealt with the daughters of Israel, and they for fear companied with you: but the daughter of Juda would not abide your wickedness.

нн7э u5бо глаг0ли ми2: под8 кjимъ дрeвомъ ви1дэлъ є3си2 си1хъ бесёдующихъ къ себЁ; Џнъ же речE: под8 чресми1ною.	Now therefore tell me, Under what tree didst thou take them companying together? And he said, Under a holm tree.

Речe же є3мY даніи1лъ: прaвw солгaлъ є3си2 и3 ты2 на свою2 главY: ждeтъ бо ѓгGлъ б9ій мечeмъ разсэщи2 тS полмA, ћкw да потреби1тъ вы2.	Then said Daniel unto him, Well; thou hast also lied against thine own head: for the angel of God waiteth with the sword to cut thee in two, that he may destroy you.

И# возопи2 вeсь с0нмъ глaсомъ вели1кимъ и3 благослови2 бGа сп7сaющаго надёющыzсz на него2.	With that all the assembly cried out with a loud voice, and praised God, who saveth them that trust in him.

И# востaша на џба ст†рца, ћкw њбличи2 и5хъ даніи1лъ t ќстъ и4хъ, лжY послyшествовавшихъ.	And they arose against the two elders, for Daniel had convicted them of false witness by their own mouth:
62	62
И# сотвори1ша и4ма ћкоже слукaвноваста бли1жнему, сотвори1ти по зак0ну мwmсeову: и3 ўби1ша и5хъ, и3 спасeсz кр0вь непови1нна въ т0й дeнь.	and according to the law of Moses they did unto them in such sort as they maliciously intended to do to their neighbour: and they put them to death. Thus the innocent blood was saved the same day.

Хелкjа же и3 женA є3гw2 похвали1ша бGа њ дщeри своeй сwсaннэ со їwакjмомъ мyжемъ є3S и3 со ќжиками всёми, ћкw не њбрётесz въ нeй стyднаz вeщь.	Therefore Chelcias and his wife praised God for their daughter Susanna, with Joacim her husband, and all their kindred, because there was no dishonesty found in her.

Даніи1лъ же бhсть вели1къ пред8 людьми2 t днE тогw2 и3 пот0мъ.	From that day forth was Daniel had in great reputation in the sight of the people.
