| Списaніе послaніz ко tводи6мымъ плённикwмъ въ вавmлHнъ t царS вавmлHнскагw, є4же послA їеремjа, возвэсти1ти и5мъ, ћкоже повелёно бhсть є3мY t бGа. | A copy of an epistle, which Jeremy sent unto them which were to be led captives into Babylon by the king of the Babylonians, to certify them, as it was commanded him of God. |

| ГрBхъ рaди, и4миже согрэши1сте пред8 бGомъ, tведeтесz въ вавmлHнъ плэнeни навуходон0соромъ царeмъ вавmлHнскимъ. | Because of the sins which ye have committed before God, ye shall be led away captives into Babylon by Nabuchodonosor king of the Babylonians. |

| Вшeдше ќбw въ вавmлHнъ, бyдете тaмw лBта мнHга и3 врeмz д0лго, до седми2 родHвъ: пот0мъ же и3зведY вaсъ tтyду съ ми1ромъ. | So when ye be come unto Babylon, ye shall remain there many years, and for a long season, namely, seven generations: and after that I will bring you away peaceably from thence. |

| Нн7э же ќзрите въ вавmлHнэ б0ги срє1брzны и3 зл†ты, и3 кaмєнны и3 древ‰ны на рaменахъ носи6мы, показyющыz стрaхъ kзhкwмъ. | Now shall ye see in Babylon gods of silver, and of gold, and of wood, borne upon shoulders, which cause the nations to fear. |

| Блюди1тесz u5бо, да не и3 вы2 и3ноплемeнникwмъ ўпод0битесz, и3 стрaхъ пріи1метъ вaсъ t ни1хъ: ви1дэвше нар0дъ напреди2 и3 созади2 и4хъ клaнzющьсz и5мъ, рцhте ќбw во ўмЁ: тебЁ лёпо є4сть клaнzтисz, вLко! | Beware therefore that ye in no wise be like to strangers, neither be ye afraid of them, when ye see the multitude before them and behind them, worshipping them. |

| ЃгGлъ бо м0й съ вaми є4сть, сeй взыскyетъ дyшъ вaшихъ. | But say ye in your hearts, O Lord, we must worship thee. |

| Љзhкъ бо и4хъ и3зстр0ганъ є4сть древодёлею, тjи же позлащeни и3 посрeбрени, лжи1ви же сyть и3 не м0гутъ глаг0лати, | For mine angel is with you, and I myself caring for your souls. |
|

|
| и3 ћкоже дэви1цэ красотолюби1вэй взeмлюще злaто, ўстроsютъ вэнцы2 на главы6 богHвъ свои1хъ. | As for their tongue, it is polished by the workman, and they themselves are gilded and laid over with gold; yet are they but false, and cannot speak. |

| Тёмже ўкрадaютъ t ни1хъ жерцы2 злaто и3 сребро2 и3 себЁ ўпотреблsютъ. | And taking gold, as it were for a virgin that loveth to go gay, they make crowns for the heads of their gods. |

| Дадsтъ же t ни1хъ и3 блудни1цамъ сyщымъ въ домY, ґ б0ги ўкрашaютъ ѓки человёкwвъ ри1зами, б0ги златы6z и3 срє1брzныz и3 древ‰ныz. | Sometimes also the priests convey from their gods gold and silver, and bestow it upon themselves. |

| Тjи же не ўцэлёютъ t ржи2 и3 м0ліz, њдёютъ же | въ багрzни1цу. | Yea, they will give thereof to the common harlots, and deck them as men with garments, being gods of silver, and gods of gold, and wood. |
|

|
| Њтирaютъ ли1ца и5мъ прaха рaди, и4же t хрaма, и4же є4сть мн0жайшій на ни1хъ. | Yet cannot these gods save themselves from rust and moths, though they be covered with purple raiment. |
|

|
| И# ски1петръ и4мутъ, ћкw человёкъ и3 ћкw судіS страны2, и4же согрэшaющагw къ себЁ не ўбіeтъ. | They wipe their faces because of the dust of the temple, when there is much upon them. |
|

|
| И$мать же и3 мeчь въ десни1цэ и3 сэки1ру, сaмъ же себE t рaти и3 t разбHйникъ не tи1метъ: tсю1ду знaеми сyть, ћкw не сyть б0зи: не ўб0йтесz u5бо и4хъ. | And he that cannot put to death one that offendeth him holdeth a sceptre, as though he were a judge of the country. |

| Ћкоже бо сосyдъ человёческъ сокрушeнъ непотрeбенъ бывaетъ, | He hath also in his right hand a dagger and an axe: but cannot deliver himself from war and thieves. |

| тaцы сyть б0зи и4хъ: є3гдa же постaвлени бyдутъ въ домёхъ, џчи и4хъ пHлны сyть прaха t ногY входsщихъ. | Whereby they are known not to be gods: therefore fear them not. |
|

| И# ћкоже комY преwби1дэвшу царS, заключeни бывaютъ дворы2, и3ли2 ћкw на смeрть tводи1му, хрaмы и4хъ ўтверждaютъ жерцы2 двeрьми и3 замкaми и3 зав0рами, да t разбHйникъ њкрaдени не бyдутъ. | For like as a vessel that a man useth is nothing worth when it is broken; even so it is with their gods: when they be set up in the temple, their eyes be full of dust through the feet of them that come in. |

| Свэти6ла жгyтъ и5мъ, и3 мн0жае нeже себЁ, t ни1хже ни є3ди1но м0гутъ ви1дэти. | And as the doors are made sure on every side upon him that offendeth the king, as being committed to suffer death; even so the priests make fast their temples with doors, with locks, and bars, lest their gods be spoiled with robbers. |

| Сyть ќбw ћкw бeрвна въ домY, сердцa же и4хъ т0чатъ чє1рви, и5же t земли2, и3 nдeжду и4хъ, nни1 же не чyвствуютъ сегw2. | They light them candles, yea, more than for themselves, whereof they cannot see one. |

| Њчернёло є4сть лицE и4хъ t дhма хрaмины: | They are as one of the beams of the temple, yet they say their hearts are gnawed upon by things creeping out of the earth; and when they eat them and their clothes, they feel it not. |

| по тэлесeмъ и4хъ и3 по главЁ парsтъ нетопыри6 нощнjи, и3 л†стовицы и3 пти6цы, тaкожде и3 котки2 (скaчутъ). | Their faces are blacked through the smoke that cometh out of the temple. |

|
| T тогw2 ўвёсте, ћкw не сyть б0зи не ўб0йтесz u5бо и4хъ. | Upon their bodies and heads sit bats, swallows, and birds, and the cats also. |
|

|
| Злaто бо лежaщее на ни1хъ на красY, ѓще не њчи1ститъ кто2 t ржи2, не возблистaютъ: є3гдa бо сливaху и5хъ, не чyвствоваша. | By this ye may know that they are no gods: therefore fear them not. |
|

|
| За всsку цёну кyплени сyть, въ ни1хже нёсть дyха. | Notwithstanding the gold that is about them to make them beautiful, except they wipe off the rust, they will not shine: for neither when they were molten did they feel it. |
|

|
| Без8 н0гъ на рaмэхъ н0сzтсz, kвлsюще своE безчeстіе человёкwмъ, њсрамлsютсz же и3 служaщіи и5мъ: | The things wherein there is no breath are bought for a most high price. |

| занeже, є3гдA когдA падyтсz на зeмлю, и3 не м0гутъ сaми востaти: и3 ѓще кто2 постaвитъ | прsмw, не м0гутъ поступи1ти, и3 ѓще преклонsтсz, не м0гутъ и3спрaвити себE, но ћкw мертвецє1мъ дaры и5мъ полагaютъ. | They are borne upon shoulders, having no feet, whereby they declare unto men that they be nothing worth. |

| Трє1бы же и4хъ продаю1ще жерцы2 на ѕло2 ўпотреблsютъ: тaкожде и3 жєны2 и4хъ варsтъ t ни1хъ, ни є3ди1ному же ўб0гу, ни нeмощну подаю1тъ: | They also that serve them are ashamed: for if they fall to the ground at any time, they cannot rise up again of themselves: neither, if one set them upright, can they move of themselves: neither, if they be bowed down, can they make themselves straight: but they set gifts before them, as unto dead men. |

| трeбъ и4хъ нечи6стыz и3 кровотHчныz жєны2 прикасaютсz. Ўразумёвше u5бо t си1хъ, ћкw не сyть б0зи, не б0йтесz и4хъ. | As for the things that are sacrificed unto them, their priests sell and abuse; in like manner their wives lay up part thereof in salt; but unto the poor and impotent they give nothing of it. |

| Tкyду бо прозовyтсz б0зи, ћкw жєны2 слyжатъ богHмъ срє1брzнымъ и3 златы6мъ и3 древ‰нымъ; | Menstruous women and women in childbed eat their sacrifices: by these things ye may know that they are no gods: fear them not. |

| И# во хрaмэхъ и4хъ жерцы2 сэдaютъ, и3мyще ри6зы растє1рзаны и3 главы6 и3 брады6 њбри6ты, и4хже главы6 не покровє1ны сyть: | For how can they be called gods? because women set meat before the gods of silver, gold, and wood. |

| ревyтъ же вопію1ще пред8 бHги свои1ми, ћкоже нёцыи на вeчери мертвецA. | And the priests sit in their temples, having their clothes rent, and their heads and beards shaven, and nothing upon their heads. |

|
| T ри1зъ и4хъ взeмлюще жерцы2, њдэвaютъ жєны2 сво‰ и3 дёти. | They roar and cry before their gods, as men do at the feast when one is dead. |
|

|
| И# ѓще t когw2 ѕло2 пострaждутъ и3ли2 добро2, не м0гутъ tдaти: ни царS м0гутъ постaвити, ни tsти: | The priests also take off their garments, and clothe their wives and children. |
|

|
| тaкожде ни богaтства ни мёди м0гутъ дaти. Ѓще кто2 и5мъ что2 њбэщaвъ не tдaстъ, не воспр0сzтъ. | Whether it be evil that one doeth unto them, or good, they are not able to recompense it: they can neither set up a king, nor put him down. |

| T смeрти человёка не и3збaвzтъ, ни мeнша t крёпка не tи1мутъ: | In like manner, they can neither give riches nor money: though a man make a vow unto them, and keep it not, they will not require it. |

|
| человёка слёпа къ видёнію не навратsтъ, въ нyжди человёку не пом0гутъ, | They can save no man from death, neither deliver the weak from the mighty. |
|

|
| вдовы2 не поми1луютъ и3 сиротЁ добрA не сотворsтъ. | They cannot restore a blind man to his sight, nor help any man in his distress. |
|

|
| Под0бни сyть кaменію наг0рному б0зи и4хъ древsни и3 кaменни, и3 позлащeни и3 посрeбрени, служaщіи же и5мъ посрaмzтсz. | They can shew no mercy to the widow, nor do good to the fatherless. |
|

|
| Кaкw u5бо м0щно мнёти и3ли2 прозвaти | богaми; | Their gods of wood, and which are overlaid with gold and silver, are like the stones that be hewn out of the mountain: they that worship them shall be confounded. |
|

|
| Ктомy же и3 сaми тjи халдeє не чтyтъ и4хъ: и5же є3гдA ќзрzтъ нёма не могyща глаг0лати, прин0сzтъ є3го2 къ ви1лу, є3мyже м0лzтсz, да глаг0летъ, ѓки си1льну сyщу почyти. | How should a man then think and say that they are gods, when even the Chaldeans themselves dishonour them? |

| И# не м0гутъ тjи разумёвше сіE њстaвити |, чyвства бо не и4мутъ. | Who if they shall see one dumb that cannot speak, they bring him, and intreat Bel that he may speak, as though he were able to understand. |

| Жєнh же њбложє1ны ќжами на распyтіихъ сэдsтъ, кадsщz њтрeбы. | Yet they cannot understand this themselves, and leave them: for they have no knowledge. |
|

|
| Е#гдa же кот0раz t ни1хъ привлечeна t нёкоегw мимоходsща бyдетъ съ ни1мъ, бли1жнюю ўкарsетъ, ћкw не спод0биласz ћкоже и3 nнA, ни ќже є3S прет0ргнулосz. | The women also with cords about them, sitting in the ways, burn bran for perfume: but if any of them, drawn by some that passeth by, lie with him, she reproacheth her fellow, that she was not thought as worthy as herself, nor her cord broken. |

| Вс‰ бывaємаz въ ни1хъ лжи6ва сyть: кaкw u5бо м0щно мнёти и3ли2 прозывaти | богaми бhти; | Whatsoever is done among them is false: how may it then be thought or said that they are gods? |

| Древодёлzми и3 златари6 сотворeни сyть: ничт0же и4но бывaютъ, но є4же хотsтъ худ0жницы, то2 бывaютъ. | They are made of carpenters and goldsmiths: they can be nothing else than the workmen will have them to be. |

|
| И# сaми, и5же и5хъ творsтъ, не бывaютъ долговёчни. | And they themselves that made them can never continue long; how should then the things that are made of them be gods? |

|
| Кaкw u5бо сотворє1ннаz и4ми м0гутъ бhти б0зи; њстaвиша бо по себЁ лжY и3 ўкори1зну пот0мъ бyдущымъ: | For they left lies and reproaches to them that come after. |

| є3гдa бо пріи1детъ на ни1хъ рaть и3 ѕл†z, совэщавaютъ междY соб0ю жерцы2, гдЁ скрhютсz съ ни1ми. | For when there cometh any war or plague upon them, the priests consult with themselves, where they may be hidden with them. |

| Кaкw u5бо нёсть чyвствовати, ћкw не сyть б0зи, и5же не и3збавлsютъ себE t рaти, ни t ѕлA; | How then cannot men perceive that they be no gods, which can neither save themselves from war, nor from plague? |

| Древsни сyще и3 кaменни, и3 позлащeни и3 посрeбрени, познaютсz пот0мъ kзhкwмъ всBмъ, ћкw лжA сyть: и3 царє1мъ ћвни бyдутъ, ћкw не сyть б0зи, но дэлA рyкъ человёческихъ, и3 ни є3ди1но дёло б9іе въ ни1хъ є4сть: | For seeing they be but of wood, and overlaid with silver and gold, it shall be known hereafter that they are false: |

| комY u5бо нёсть разyмно, ћкw не сyть б0зи; | and it shall manifestly appear to all nations and kings that they are no gods, but the works of men's hands, and that there is no work of God in them. |

| Царs бо странЁ не поставлsютъ, ни дождS человёкwмъ подаю1тъ, | Who then may not know that they are no gods? |

|
| ни судA разсyдzтъ и3 не и3збaвzтъ t њби1ды, нeмощни сyще: | For neither can they set up a king in the land, nor give rain unto men. |
|

|
| ћкоже бо врaны междY нeбомъ и3 землeю сyть: и3 є3гдA падeтъ џгнь на хрaмэ богHвъ древsныхъ и3ли2 кaменныхъ, и3ли2 позлащeныхъ и3ли2 посрeбреныхъ, жерцы2 и4хъ и3збёгнутъ и3 ўцэлёютъ, nни1 же ћкw бeрвна посредЁ сгорsтъ. | Neither can they judge their own cause, nor redress a wrong, being unable: for they are as crows between heaven and earth. |

| Царю1 же и3 р†тнымъ не стaнутъ проти1ву: u5бо кaкw м0щно мнёти и3ли2 пріsти, ћкw б0зи сyть; | Whereupon when fire falleth upon the house of gods of wood, or laid over with gold or silver, their priests will flee away, and escape: but they themselves shall be burned asunder like beams. |

| Ни t разбHйникъ, ни t татeй и3збaвzтъ себE б0зи древsни и3 кaменни, и3 посрeбрени и3 позлащeни. | Moreover they cannot withstand any king or enemies: how can it then be thought or said that they be gods? |

| И%хже преwдолёвше и3 взeмше злaто и3 сребро2 и3 ри6зы и4хъ, tи1дутъ, нижE сaми себЁ пом0гутъ. | Neither are those gods of wood, and laid over with silver or gold, able to escape either from thieves or robbers. |

| Тёмже лyчше є4сть цaрь показyzй своE мyжество, и3ли2 сосyдъ въ домY потрeбенъ, є3г0же ўпотреблsетъ владsй и4мъ, нeжели лжи1віи б0зи: и3ли2 двeрь въ домY стрегyщи ±же въ нeмъ, нeжели лжи1віи б0зи: и3 древsный ст0лпъ въ домY цaрстэмъ, нeжели лжи1віи б0зи. | Whose gold, and silver, and garments wherewith they are clothed, they that are strong do take, and go away withal: neither are they able to help themselves. |

| С0лнце бо и3 лунA и3 ѕвёзды, свBтлы сyще и3 посылaємы на потрeбу, благопослушли6вы сyть. | Therefore it is better to be a king that sheweth his power, or else a profitable vessel in an house, which the owner shall have use of, than such false gods; or to be a door in an house, to keep such things safe as be therein, than such false gods; or a pillar of wood in a palace, than such false gods. |

| Тaкожде и3 м0лніz, є3гдA блистaетъ, благови1дна є4сть: тaкожде и3 вётръ во всeй странЁ вёетъ. | For sun, moon, and stars, being bright, and sent to do their offices, are obedient. |

| И# њблакHмъ є3гдA повели1тсz t бGа и3ти2 на всю2 вселeнную, совершaютъ повелённое. | In like manner the lightning when it breaketh forth is easy to be seen: and after the same manner the wind bloweth in every country. |

| Џгнь же пyщенъ свhше и3стреби1ти г0ры и3 дубр†вы твори1тъ повелённое: сjи же ни њбразHмъ, нижE си1ламъ и4хъ ўпод0блени сyть. | And when God commandeth the clouds to go over the whole world, they do as they are bidden. |

| Тёмже ни мнёти м0щно, ни прозывaти и5хъ бhти б0ги, не си6льнымъ и5мъ сyщымъ ни прю2 разсуди1ти, ни добрA сотвори1ти человёкwмъ. | And the fire sent from above to consume hills and woods doeth as it is commanded: but these are like unto them neither in shew nor power. |

| Разумёвше u5бо, ћкw не сyть б0зи, не б0йтесz и4хъ. | Wherefore it is neither to be supposed nor said that they are gods, seeing they are able neither to judge causes, nor to do good unto men. |

| Ни царeй бо прокленyтъ, нижE благословsтъ. | Knowing therefore that they are no gods, fear them not. |
|

|
| Знaменіz же на небеси2 и3 во kзhцэхъ не покaжутъ: ни просвэтsтъ ћкw с0лнце, ни њсвэтsтъ ћкw лунA. | For they can neither curse nor bless kings: |

| Ѕвёріе лyчше и4хъ сyть, и5же м0гутъ, и3збёге под8 кр0въ, себE п0льзовати. | neither can they shew signs in the heavens among the heathen, nor shine as the sun, nor give light as the moon. |
|

|
| Ни є3ди1нымъ u5бо w4бразомъ є4сть нaмъ ћвэ, ћкw сyть б0зи: тёмже не б0йтесz и4хъ. | The beasts are better than they: for they can get under a covert, and help themselves. |

| Ћкоже бо во nв0щницэ пужaло ничесHже храни1тъ, тaкожде и3 б0зи и4хъ сyть древsни и3 кaменни, и3 посрeбрени и3 позлащeни. | It is then by no means manifest unto us that they are gods: therefore fear them not. |

| Тёмъ же w4бразомъ и3 хврaстъ, и4же во њгрaдэ, на нeмже вс‰ пти6цы сэдaютъ: тaкожде и3 мертвецY повeржену во тмЁ под0бни сyть б0зи и4хъ, древsни, позлащeни и3 посрeбрени. | For as a scarecrow in a garden of cucumbers keepeth nothing: so are their gods of wood, and laid over with silver and gold. |

| T багрzни1цы, (въ ню1же њдёzни,) и3 t мрaмора, и4же на ни1хъ плёснивэетъ, познaйте, ћкw не сyть б0зи: тjи бо послэди2 и3з8zдeни бyдутъ t чeрвіz и3 бyдутъ во ўкори1зну во странЁ. | And likewise their gods of wood, and laid over with silver and gold, are like to a white thorn in an orchard, that every bird sitteth upon; as also to a dead body, that is cast into the dark. |

| Лyчше u5бо є4сть человёкъ прaведенъ не и3мёzй кумjрwвъ, бyдетъ бо далeче t ўкори1зны. | And ye shall know them to be no gods by the bright purple that rotteth upon them: and they themselves afterward shall be eaten, and shall be a reproach in the country. |
