и҆́же плѣне́нъ бѣ̀ во дни̑ є҆немесса́ра са́ра царѧ̀ а҆ссѷрі́йска ѿ ѳі́свы, ꙗ҆́же є҆́сть ѡ҆деснꙋ́ю кѷді́а нефѳалі́млѧ въ галїле́и вы́ше а҆си́ра. А҆́зъ тѡві́тъ пꙋте́мъ и҆́стины ходи́хъ и҆ пра́вды всѧ̑ дни̑ живота̀ моегѡ̀	who in the time of Enemessar king of the Assyrians was led captive out of Thisbe, which is at the right hand of that city, which is called properly Nephthali in Galilee above Aser.

и҆ ми́лѡстыни мнѡ́ги твори́хъ бра́тїи мое́й и҆ ꙗ҆зыкꙋ моемꙋ̀, ше́дшымъ со мно́ю во странꙋ̀ а҆ссѷрі́йскꙋю въ нїнеѵі́ю:	I Tobit have walked all the days of my life in the way of truth and justice, and I did many alms-deeds to my brethren, and my nation, who came with me to Nineve, into the land of the Assyrians.

и҆ є҆гда̀ бѣ́хъ во странѣ̀ мое́й въ землѝ і̑и҃левѣ, ю҆нѣ́и҆шꙋ мѝ сꙋ́щꙋ, все́ пле́мѧ нефѳалі́ма ѻ҆тца̀ моегѡ̀ ѿстꙋпѝ ѿ до́мꙋ і̑ерⷭ҇ли́млѧ, и҆збра́ннагѡ ѿ колѣ́нъ і҆и҃левыхъ, є҆́же жре́ти всѣ̑мъ колѣ́нѡмъ: и҆ ѡ҆свѧще́нъ бы́сть хра́мъ ѡ҆бита́нїѧ вы́шнемꙋ и҆ созда́нъ бы́сть во всѧ̑ ро́ды вѣ́ка:	And when I was in mine own country, in the land of Israel, being but young, all the tribe of Nephthali my father fell from the house of Jerusalem, which was chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, that all the tribes should sacrifice there, and, where the temple of the habitation of the most High was consecrated and built for all ages.

и҆ всѧ̑ колѣ̑на кꙋ́пнѡ ѿстꙋпи̑вшаѧ жрѧ́хꙋ ваа́ловѣ ю҆́ницѣ, и҆ до́мъ нефѳалі́ма ѻ҆тца̀ моегѡ̀:	Now all the tribes which together revolted, and the house of my father Nephthali, sacrificed unto the heifer Baal.

а҆́зъ же є҆ди́нъ хожда́хъ мно́гажды во і҆ерⷭ҇ли́мъ въ пра́здники, ꙗ҆́коже пи́сано є҆́сть всемꙋ̀ і҆и҃лю въ повелѣ́нїи вѣ́чнѣ, нача́тки и҆ десѧти̑ны плодѡ́въ и҆ первострижє́нїѧ и҆мѣ́ѧй,	But I alone went often to Jerusalem at the feasts, as it was ordained unto all the people of Israel by an everlasting decree, having the first-fruits and tenths of increase, with that which was first shorn; and them gave I at the altar to the priests the children of Aaron.

и҆ даѧ́хъ ѧ҆̀ і̑ере́ємъ сынѡ́мъ а҆арѡ̑нимъ ко ѻ҆лтарю̀: ѿ всѣ́хъ плодѡ́въ десѧти́нꙋ даѧ́хъ сынѡ́мъ леѵі̑инымъ слꙋжа́щымъ во і̑ерⷭ҇ли́мѣ, и҆ вторꙋ́ю десѧти́нꙋ продаѧ́хъ, и҆ хожда́хъ и҆ и҆ждива́хъ ѧ҆̀ во і̑ерⷭ҇ли́мѣ на ко́еждо лѣ́то,	The first tenth part of all increase I gave to the sons of Aaron, who ministered at Jerusalem: another tenth part I sold away, and went, and spent it every year at Jerusalem:

тре́тїю же даѧ́хъ, и҆́мже подоба́ше, ꙗ҆́коже заповѣ́да деввѡ́ра ма́ти ѻ҆тца̀ моегѡ̀,занѐ си́ръ ѡ҆ста́хъ ѿ ѻ҆тца̀ моегѡ̀.	and the third I gave unto them to whom it was meet, as Debora my father's mother had commanded me, because I was left an orphan by my father.

И҆ є҆гда̀ бы́хъ мꙋ́жъ, поѧ́хъ а҆́ннꙋ женꙋ̀ ѿ сѣ́мене ѻ҆те́чества на́шегѡ, и҆ роди́хъ ѿ неѧ̀ тѡві́ю.	Furthermore, when I was come to the age of a man, I married Anna of mine own kindred, and of her I begat Tobias.

И҆ є҆гда̀ плѣне́ни бы́хомъ въ нїнеѵі́ю, всѧ̑ кра́тїѧ моѧ̑ и҆ и҆̀же ѿ ро́да моегѡ̀ ꙗ҆до́ша ѿ хлѣ́бѡвъ ꙗ҆зы́ческихъ:	And when we were carried away captives to Nineve, all my brethren and those that were of my kindred did eat of the bread of the Gentiles.
11	11
а҆́зъ же соблюдо́хъ дꙋ́шꙋ мою̀ є҆́же не ꙗ҆́сти,	But I kept myself from eating;
12	12
ꙗ҆́кѡ па́мѧтствовахъ бг҃а все́ю дꙋше́ю мое́ю.	because I remembered God with all my heart.
13	13
И҆ дадѐ вы́шнїй благода́ть и҆ добро́тꙋ пред̾ є҆немесса́ромъ, и҆ бы́хъ є҆гѡ̀ кꙋпе́цъ:	And the most High gave me grace and favour before Enemessar, so that I was his purveyor.
14	14
и҆ и҆до́хъ въ миді́ю и҆ вда́хъ гаваи́лꙋ бра́тꙋ гаврі́евꙋ въ ра́гахъ миді́йскихъ сребра̀ де́сѧть тала̑нтъ.	And I went into Media, and left in trust with Gabael, the brother of Gabrias, at Rages a city of Media, ten talents of silver.

И҆ є҆гда̀ оу҆́мре є҆немесса́ръ, воцари́сѧ сеннахирі́мъ сы́нъ є҆гѡ̀ вмѣ́стѡ є҆гѡ̀, и҆ пꙋтїѐ є҆гѡ̀ непостоѧ́нни бы́ша, и҆ ктомꙋ̀ не возмого́хъ и҆тѝ въ миді́ю.	Now when Enemessar was dead, Sennacherib his son reigned in his stead; whose estate was troubled, that I could not go into Media.

И҆ во дне́хъ є҆немесса́ра ми́лѡстыни мнѡ́ги твори́хъ бра́тїи мое́й:	And in the time of Enemessar I gave many alms to my brethren, and gave my bread to the hungry,
17	17
хлѣ́бы моѧ̑ даѧ́хъ а҆́лчꙋщымъ и҆ ѡ҆дѣѧ́нїе наги̑мъ, и҆ а҆́ще ко́его ѿ ро́да моегѡ̀ ви́дѣхъ оу҆ме́рша и҆ и҆зве́ржена внѣ̀ стѣны̀ нїеѵі́и, погрба́хъ є҆го̀:	and my clothes to the naked: and if I saw any of my nation dead, or cast about the walls of Nineve, I buried him.

и҆ а҆́ще ко́его оу҆бива́ше сеннахирі́мъ ца́рь, є҆гда̀ прїи́де бѣжа́й ѿ і҆ꙋде́и, погреба́хъ и҆̀хъ ѡ҆́тай: мно́гихъ бо оу҆бѝ въ ꙗ҆́рости свое́й: и҆ и҆скѡ́ма быва́хꙋ ѿ царѧ̀ тѣлеса̀, и҆ не ѡ҆брѣта́хꙋсѧ.	And if the king Sennacherib had slain any, when he was come, and fled from Judea, I buried them privily; for in his wrath he killed many; but the bodies were not found, when they were sought for of the king.

Ше́дъ же є҆ди́нъ ѿ сꙋ́щихъ въ нїнеѵі́и, сказа̀ царю̀ ѡ҆ мнѣ̀, ꙗ҆́кѡ погреба́ю и҆̀хъ. И҆ скры́хсѧ. Оу҆ѣ́давъ же, ꙗ҆́кѡ и҆́щꙋтъ мѧ̀ оу҆би́ти, оу҆боѧ́всѧ ѿидо́хъ:	And when one of the Ninevites went and complained of me to the king, that I buried them, and hid myself; understanding that I was sought for to be put to death, I withdrew myself for fear.

и҆ разгра́блєна бы́ша всѧ̑ и҆мѣ́нїѧ моѧ̑, и҆ не ѡ҆ста́сѧ мѝ ничто́же, кромѣ̀ а҆́нны жены̀ моеѧ̀ и҆ тѡві́и сы́на моегѡ̀.	Then all my goods were forcibly taken away, neither was there any thing left me, beside my wife Anna and my son Tobias.

И҆ не преидо́ша дні́е пѧтьдесѧ́тъ, доне́лѣже оу҆би́ста є҆го̀ два̀ сы̑на є҆гѡ̀ и҆ бѣжа́ста въ го́ры а҆рара҆тскїѧ: и҆ воцари́сѧ сахерда́нъ сы́нъ є҆гѡ̀ вмѣ́стѡ є҆гѡ̀, и҆ поста́ви а҆хїа́хара а҆наи́ла, сы́на бра́та моегѡ̀, над̾ всѣ́мъ сочисле́нїемъ ца́рствїѧ своегѡ̀ и҆ над̾ всѣ́мъ оу҆строе́нїемъ.	And there passed not fifty days, before two of his sons killed him, and they fled into the mountains of Ararath; and Sarchedonus his son reigned in his stead; who appointed over his father's accounts, and over all his affairs, Achiacharus my brother Anael's son.

И҆ просѝ а҆хїа́харъ ѡ҆ мнѣ̀, и҆ прїидо́хъ въ нїнеѵі́ю. А҆хїа́харъ же бѣ̀ вїиоче́рпчїй и҆ над̾ пе́рстнемъ, и҆ оу҆прави́тель и҆ сочисли́тель, и҆ поста́ви є҆го̀ сахерда́нъ вторы́мъ: бѣ́ же сы́нъ бра́та моегѡ̀.	And Achiacharus intreating for me, I returned to Nineve. Now Achiacharus was cupbearer, and keeper of the signet, and steward, and overseer of the accounts: and Sarchedonus appointed him next unto him: and he was my brother's son.

Є҆гда́ же прїидо́хъ въ до́мъ мо́й, и҆ ѿдана̀ бы́сть мнѣ̀ а҆́нна жена̀ моѧ̀ и҆ тѡві́а сы́нъ мо́й, въ пра́здникъ пѧтьдесѧ́тницы, и҆̀же є҆́сть ст҃ъ се́дмь седми́цъ, бы́сть ѡ҆бѣ́дъ до́бръ мнѣ̀, и҆ возлего́хъ, є҆́же ꙗ҆́сти.	Now when I was come home again, and my wife Anna was restored unto me, with my son Tobias, in the feast of Pentecost, which is the holy feast of the seven weeks, there was a good dinner prepared me; and I sat down to eat.

И҆ оу҆зрѣ́хъ снѣ̑ди мнѡ́ги и҆ рѣ́хъ сы́нꙋ моемꙋ̀: и҆ди́ и҆ приведѝ, є҆го́же а҆́ще ѡ҆брѧ́щеши ѿ бра́тїи на́шеѧ ни́щаго, и҆́же по́мнитъ гдⷭ҇а, и҆ сѐ, ѡ҆жида́ю тебѐ.	And when I saw abundance of meat, I said to my son, Go and bring what poor man soever thou shalt find out of our brethren, who is mindful of the Lord; and, lo, I tarry for thee.

И҆ прише́дъ речѐ: ѻ҆́тче, є҆ди́нъ ѿ ро́да на́шегѡ оу҆давле́нъ пове́рженъ є҆́сть на то́ржищи.	But he came again, and said, Father, one of our nation is strangled, and is cast out in the marketplace.

И҆ а҆́зъ, пре́жде не́же вкꙋси́ти мѝ, взѧ́хъ є҆го̀ въ нѣ́кїй до́мъ, доне́лѣже за́йде со́лнце:	Then before I had tasted any meat, I started up, and took him up into a room until the going down of the sun.

и҆ возврати́всѧ оу҆мы́хсѧ и҆ ꙗ҆до́хъ хлѣ́бъ мо́й въ ско́рби,	Then I returned, and washed myself, and ate my meat in heaviness,
6	6
и҆ помѧнꙋ́хъ прⷱ҇҃оро́чество а҆мѡ́са, ꙗ҆́коже речѐ: ѡ҆братѧ́тсѧ дні́е ва́ши въ пла́чь, и҆ всѧ̑ весє́лїѧ ва̑ша въ сѣ́тованїе:	remembering that prophecy of Amos, as he said, Your feasts shall be turned into mourning, and all your mirth into lamentation.

и҆ пла́кахсѧ: и҆ є҆гда̀ за́йде со́лнце, поидо́хъ и҆ и҆скопа́въ погребо́хъ є҆го̀.	Therefore I wept: and after the going down of the sun I went and made a grave, and buried him.
8	8
Бли́жнїи же посмѣва́хꙋсѧ, глаго́люще: є҆щѐ не бои́тсѧ оу҆бїе́нъ бы́ти за дѣ́ло сїѐ: и҆ бѣжа̀, и҆ сѐ, па́ки погреба́етъ мє́ртвыѧ.	But my neighbours mocked me, and said, This man is not yet afraid to be put to death for this matter: who fled away; and yet, lo, he burieth the dead again.

И҆ въ тꙋ̀ но́щь, є҆гда̀ погребо́хъ, возврати́хсѧ и҆ лего́хъ ѡ҆́скверне́нъ при стѣнѣ̀ двора̀, и҆ лицѐ моѐ ѿкрове́но бѣ̀:	The same night also I returned from the burial, and slept by the wall of my courtyard, being polluted, and my face was uncovered:

не ви́дѣхъ же, ꙗ҆́кѡ вра̑бїѧ на стѣнѣ̀ сꙋ́ть, и҆ ѻ҆чесе́мъ мои̑мъ ѿвє́рстымъ сꙋ́щымъ, и҆спꙋсти́ша вра̑бїѧ те́плое на ѻ҆чеса̀ моѧ̑, и҆ бы́ша бѣ́льма на ѻ҆чесѣ́хъ мои́хъ: и҆ и҆до́хъ ко врачє́мъ и҆ не по́льзоваша мѧ̀: а҆хїа́харъ же пита́ше мѧ̀, до́ндеже ѿидо́хъ во є҆лѷмаі́дꙋ.	and I knew not that there were sparrows in the wall, and mine eyes being open, the sparrows muted warm dung into mine eyes, and a whiteness came in mine eyes; and I went to the physicians, but they helped me not: moreover Achiacharus did nourish me, until I went into Elymais.

А҆ жена̀ моѧ̀ а҆́нна во́лнꙋ прѧдѧ́ше въ домѣ́хъ же́нскихъ	And my wife Anna did take women's works to do.

и҆ посыла́ше госпо́дїємъ: даѧ́хꙋ же є҆́й и҆ ѻ҆нѝ мздꙋ̀, прида́вше и҆ козлѧ̀.	And when she had sent them home to the owners, they paid her wages, giving her also besides a kid.

Є҆гда́ же прїи́де ко мнѣ̀, нача̀ вопи́ти: и҆ рѣ́хъ є҆́й: ѿкꙋ́дꙋ козлѧ̀; не оу҆кра́дено ли є҆́сть; ѿда́ждь є҆̀ госпо́дїємъ: не бо̀ лѣ́по є҆́сть ꙗ҆́сти кра́деное.	And when it was in my house, and began to cry, I said unto her, From whence is this kid? is it not stolen? render it to the owners; for it is not lawful to eat any thing that is stolen.

Ѻ҆на́ же речѐ: да́ръ даде́сѧ мѝ над̾ мздꙋ̀. И҆ не вѣ́ровахъ є҆́й и҆ глаго̀лахъ ѿда́ти є҆̀ госпо́дїємъ, и҆ стыдѧ́хсѧ пред̾ не́ю. Ѻ҆на́ же ѿвѣща́вши речѐ мѝ: гдѣ̀ сꙋ́ть ми́лѡстыни твоѧ̑ и҆ пра̑вды твоѧ̑; сѐ, вѣ́дѡма всѧ̑ съ тобо́ю.	But she replied upon me, It was given for a gift more than the wages. Howbeit I did not believe her, but bade her render it to the owners: and I was abashed at her. But she replied upon me, Where are thine alms and thy righteous deeds? behold, thou and all thy works are known.
Глава́ г҃	Chapter 3

1	1
И҆ ѡ҆печа́ливсѧ пла́кахъ, и҆ моли́хсѧ съ болѣ́знїю, глаго́лѧ:	Then I being grieved did weep, and in my sorrow prayed, saying,
2	2
првⷣнъ є҆сѝ, гдⷭ҇и, и҆ всѧ̑ дѣла̀ твоѧ̑, и҆ всѝ пꙋтїѐ твоѝ млⷭ҇ть и҆ и҆́стниа, и҆ сꙋ́дъ и҆́стиненъ и҆ првⷣнъ ты̀ сꙋ́диши во вѣ́къ:	O Lord, thou art just, and all thy works and all thy ways are mercy and truth, and thou judgest truly and justly for ever.

помѧнѝ мѧ̀ и҆ при́зри на мѧ̀ да не ѿмща́еши мѝ грѣхѝ моѧ̑ и҆ невѣ̑дѣнїѧ моѧ̑ и҆ ѻ҆тє́цъ мои́хъ, и҆́миже согрѣши́ша пред̾ тобо́ю:	Remember me, and look on me; punish me not for my sins and ignorances, and the sins of my fathers, who have sinned before thee:

преслꙋ́шаша бо за́пѡвѣди твоѧ̑ и҆ да́лъ є҆сѝ на́съ въ расхище́нїе и҆ плѣне́нїе и҆ сме́рть и҆ въ при́тчꙋ поноше́нїѧ всѣ̑мъ ꙗ҆зы́кѡмъ, въ нѧ́же расточи́хомсѧ:	for they obeyed not thy commandments: wherefore thou hast delivered us for a spoil, and unto captivity, and unto death, and for a proverb of reproach to all the nations among whom we are dispersed.

и҆ нн҃ѣ мнѡ́ги сꙋдбы̑ твоѧ̑ сꙋ́ть и҆ и҆́стинны, твори́те со мно́ю ѡ҆ грѣсѣ́хъ мои́хъ и҆ ѻ҆тє́цъ мои́хъ, ꙗ҆́кѡ не сотвори́хомъ повелѣ́нїй твои́хъ, не бо̀ ходи́хомъ во и҆́стинѣ пред̾ тобо́ю:	And now thy judgments are many and true: deal with me according to my sins and my fathers'; because we have not kept thy commandments, neither have walked in truth before thee.

и҆ нн҃ѣ, ꙗ҆́коже оу҆го́дно пред̾ тобо́ю, сотворѝ со мно́ю: повелѝ ѿѧ́ти дꙋ́хъ мо́й, ꙗ҆́кѡ да разрѣшꙋ́сѧ и҆ бꙋ́дꙋ землѧ̀, поне́же оу҆́не є҆́сть мѝ оу҆мре́ти, не́жели жи́вꙋ бы́тн, занѐ поноше́нїѧ лжи̑ва слы́шахъ, и҆ печа́ль є҆́сть мно́га во мнѣ̀: повелѝ ѿрѣши́тисѧ мѝ ѿ нꙋ́жды оу҆жѐ на вѣ́чное мѣ́сто, да не ѿврати́ши лица̀ твоегѡ̀ ѿ менє̀.	Now therefore deal with me as seemeth best unto thee, and command my spirit to be taken from me, that I may be dissolved, and become earth: for it is profitable for me to die rather than to live, because I have heard false reproaches, and have much sorrow: command therefore that I may now be delivered out of this distress, and go into the everlasting place: turn not thy face away from me.

Въ то́йже де́нь слꙋчи́сѧ дще́ри рагꙋи́левѣй са́ррѣ бо є҆квата́нѣхъ миді́и, и҆ то́й поноси́мѣй бы́ти ѿ рабы́нь ѻ҆тца̀ є҆ѧ̀:	It came to pass the same day, that in Ecbatane a city of Media, Sara the daughter of Raguel was also reproached by her father's maids;

а҆́кѡ бѧ́ше дана̀ седмѝ мꙋжє́мъ, и҆ а҆смоде́й лꙋка́вый де́мѡнъ оу҆бѝ и҆̀хъ, пре́жде да́же бы́ти и҆̀мъ съ не́ю ꙗ҆́кѡ съ жена́ми: и҆ рѣ́ша є҆́й: не разꙋмѣ́еши ли оу҆бива́ющи твои́хъ мꙋже́й; оу҆жѐ се́дмь и҆мѣ́ла є҆сѝ, и҆ ни є҆ди́нагѡ и҆́хъ нарекла́сѧ є҆сѝ:	because that she had been married to seven husbands, whom Asmodeus the evil spirit had killed, before they had lain with her. Dost thou not know, said they, that thou hast strangled thine husbands? thou hast had already seven husbands, neither wast thou named after any of them.

что̀ на́съ бїе́ши; а҆́ще и҆змро́ша, и҆дѝ съ ни́ми, да не ви́димъ твоегѡ̀ сы́на и҆лѝ дще́ре во вѣ́къ.	Wherefore dost thou beat us for them? if they be dead, go thy ways after them, let us never see of thee either son or daughter.

Сїѧ̑ слы́шавши ѡ҆печа́лисѧ ѕѣлѡ̀, ꙗ҆́кѡ оу҆дави́тисѧ, и҆ речѐ: є҆ди́на оу҆́бѡ є҆́смь ѻ҆тцꙋ̀ моемꙋ̀: а҆́ще сотворю̀ сїѐ, оу҆кори́зна є҆мꙋ̀ бꙋ́детъ, и҆ ста́рость є҆гѡ̀ ннзведꙋ̀ съ болѣ́знїю во а҆́дъ.	When she heard these things she was very sorrowful, so that she thought to have strangled herself; and she said, I am the only daughter of my father, and if I do this, it shall be a reproach unto him, and I shall bring his old age with sorrow unto the grave.

И҆ молѧ́шесѧ при ѻ҆ко́нцы и҆ речѐ: блгⷭ҇ве́нъ є҆сѝ, гдⷭ҇и бж҃е мо́й, и҆ блгⷭ҇ве́но и҆́мѧ твоѐ ст҃о́е и҆ чтⷭ҇но́е во вѣ́ки: да блгⷭ҇вѧ́тъ тѧ̀ всѧ̑ дѣла̀ твоѧ̑ во вѣ́къ:	Then she prayed toward the window, and said, Blessed art thou, O Lord my God, and thine holy and glorious name is blessed and honourable for ever: let all thy works praise thee for ever.

и҆ нн҃ѣ, гдⷭ҇и, ѻ҆́чи моѝ и҆ лицѐ моѐ ко тебѣ̀ да́хъ:	And now, O Lord, I set mine eyes and my face toward thee,
13	13
рѣ́хъ да разрѣши́ши мѧ̀ ѿ землѝ и҆ да не слы́шꙋ а҆́зъ ктомꙋ̀ поноше́нїѧ:	and say, Take me out of the earth, that I may hear no more the reproach.
14	14
ты̀ вѣ́сн, гдⷭ҇и, ꙗ҆́кѡ чиста̀ є҆́смь ѿ всѧ́кагѡ грѣха̀ мꙋ́жнѧ	Thou knowest, Lord, that I am pure from all sin with man,
15	15

и҆ по́сланъ бѣ̀ и҆зцѣли́ти ѻ҆бои́хъ, тѡві́тꙋ ѡ҆чи́стити бѣ́льма и҆ са́ррꙋ дще́рь рагꙋи́левꙋ да́ти тѡві́и сы́нꙋ тѡві́товꙋ въ женꙋ̀, и҆ свѧза́ти а҆смоде́а лꙋка́ваго де́мѡна, занѐ тѡві́и подоа́етъ наслѣ́дити ю҆̀. Въ то̀ вре́мѧ возврати́всѧ тѡві́тъ, вни́де въ до́мъ сво́й, а҆ са́рра дщѝ рагꙋи́лева сни́де ѿ го́рницы своеѧ̀.	And Raphael was sent to heal them both, that is, to scale away the whiteness of Tobit's eyes, and to give Sara the daughter of Raguel for a wife to Tobias the son of Tobit: and to bind Asmodeus the evil spirit; because she belonged to Tobias by right of inheritance. The self-same time came Tobit home, and entered into his house, and Sara the daughter of Raguel came down from her upper chamber.

и҆ речѐ въ себѣ̀: а҆́зъ проси́хъ сме́рти, что̀ не зовꙋ̀ тѡві́и сы́на моегѡ̀, да є҆мꙋ̀ ѡ҆б̾ѧвлю̀, пре́жде да́же оу҆мре́ти мѝ;	and said with himself, I have wished for death; wherefore do I not call for my son Tobias, that I may signify to him of the money before I die?

И҆ призва́въ є҆го̀ речѐ: ча́до, а҆́ще оу҆мрꙋ̀, погреби́ мѧ, и҆ да не презира́еши ма́тере твоеѧ́: чтѝ ю҆̀ всѧ̑ дни̑ живота̀ твоегѡ̀ и҆ творѝ є҆́же оу҆го́дно є҆́й, и҆ да не ѡ҆печалѧ́еши є҆ѧ̀:	And when he had called him, he said, My son, when I am dead, bury me; and despise not thy mother, but honour her all the days of thy life, and do that which shall please her, and grieve her not.

помѧнѝ, ча́до, ꙗ҆́кѡ мнѡ́га бѣ̑дстгвїѧ ви́дѣ ѡ҆ тебѣ̀ во чре́вѣ: є҆гда̀ оу҆́мретъ, поогребѝ ю҆̀ при мнѣ̀ во є҆ди́нѣмъ гро́бѣ:	Remember, my son, that she saw many dangers for thee, when thou wast in her womb; and when she is dead, bury her by me in one grave.

всѧ̑ дни̑, ча́до, гдⷭ҇а бг҃а на́шего по́мни, и҆ да не похо́щеши согрѣша́ти и҆ престꙋпа́ти за́пѡвѣди є҆гѡ̀: пра́вдꙋ творѝ всѧ̑ дни̑ живота̀ твоегѡ̀, и҆ да не хо́диши пꙋте́мъ непра́вды,	My son, be mindful of the Lord our God all thy days, and let not thy will be set to sin, or to transgress his commandments: do uprightly all thy life long, and follow not the ways of unrighteousness.

занѐ творѧ́щꙋ тѝ и҆́стинꙋ благопоспѣ́шєства бꙋ́дꙋтъ въ дѣ́лѣхъ твои́хъ и҆ всѣ̑мъ творѧ́щымъ пра́вдꙋ:	For if thou deal truly, thy doings shall prosperously succeed to thee, and to all them that live justly.

ѿ и҆мѣ́нїй твои́хъ творѝ ми́лостыню, и҆ да не за́зритъ твоѐ ѻ҆́ко, внегда̀ твори́ти тѝ ми́лостыню: да не ѿвраща́еши лица̀ твоегѡ̀ ѿ всѧ́кагѡ ни́щагѡ, и҆ ѿ тебє̀ не ѿврати́тсѧ лицѐ бж҃їе:	Give alms of thy substance; and when thou givest alms, let not thine eye be envious, neither turn thy face from any poor, and the face of God shall not be turned away from thee.

ꙗ҆́коже тебѣ̀ бꙋ́детъ по мно́жествꙋ, творѝ ѿ ни́хъ ми́лостыню: а҆́ще ма́ло тебѣ̀ бꙋ́детъ, по ма́ломꙋ да не бои́шисѧ твори́ти ми́лостыню:

зало́гъ бо до́бръ сокро́вищствꙋеши тебѣ̀ на де́нь нꙋ́жды,

занѐ ми́лостынѧ ѿ сме́рти и҆збавлѧ́етъ и҆ не ѡ҆ставлѧ́етъ и҆тѝ во тмꙋ̀:

да́ръ бо до́бръ є҆́сть ми́лостынѧ всѣ̑мъ творѧ́щымъ ю҆̀ пред̾ вы́шнимъ:

совѣ́та оу҆ всѧ́кагѡ премꙋ́драгѡ и҆́щѝ, и҆ да не небреже́ши ѡ҆ всѧ́цѣмъ совѣ́тѣ поле́знемъ:

и҆ на всѧ́кое вре́мѧ благословѝ гдⷭ҇а бг҃а и҆ ѿ негѡ̀ просѝ, ꙗ҆́кѡ да пꙋтїѐ твоѝ пра́ви бꙋ́дꙋтъ, и҆ всѧ̑ стєзѝ и҆ совѣ́ти твоѝ да благоꙋспѣ́ютъ, занѐ всѧ́къ ꙗ҆зы́къ не и҆мѣ́тъ совѣ́та, но са́мъ гдⷭ҇ь дае́тъ всѧ̑ бл҃га̑ѧ, и҆ є҆го́же а҆́ще восхо́щетъ, смирѧ́етъ, ꙗ҆́коже хо́щетъ: и҆ нн҃ѣ, ча́до, помѧнѝ за́пѡвѣди моѧ̑, и҆ да не и҆згла́дѧтсѧ ѿ се́рдца твоегѡ̀:	Bless the Lord thy God alway, and desire of him that thy ways may be directed, and that all thy paths and counsels may prosper: for every nation hath not counsel; but the Lord himself giveth all good things, and he humbleth whom he will, as he will; now therefore, my son, remember my commandments, neither let them be put out of thy mind.

и҆ нн҃ѣ ѡ҆б̾ѧвлѧ́ю тебѣ̀ де́сѧть тала̑нтъ сребра̀, ꙗ҆̀же вда́хъ гаваи́лꙋ сы́нꙋ гаврі́инꙋ въ ра́гахъ миді́йскихъ:	And now I signify this to thee, that I committed ten talents to Gabael the son of Gabrias at Rages in Media.

и҆ не бо́йсѧ, ча́до, ꙗ҆́кѡ ѡ҆бнища́хомъ: сꙋ́ть тебѣ̀ мнѡ́га, а҆́ще оу҆ои́шисѧ бг҃а и҆ ѿстꙋ́пиши ѿ всѧ́кагѡ грѣха̀ и҆ сотвори́ши, є҆́же оу҆го́дно пред̾ ни́мъ.	And fear not, my son, that we are made poor: for thou hast much wealth, if thou fear God, and depart from all sin, and do that which is pleasing in his sight.
Глава́ є҃	Chapter 5

И҆ ѿвѣша́въ тѡві́а, речѐ є҆мꙋ̀: ѻ҆́тче, сотворю̀ всѧ̑, є҆ли̑ка заповѣ́далъ є҆сѝ мѝ:	Tobias then answered and said, Father, I will do all things which thou hast commanded me:

но ка́кѡ возмогꙋ̀ взѧ́ти сребро̀, а҆ не зна́ю є҆гѡ̀;	but how can I receive the money, seeing I know him not?

И҆ дадѐ є҆мꙋ̀ рꙋкописа́нїе и҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀: и҆щѝ себѣ̀ человѣ́ка, и҆́же по́йдетъ съ тобо́ю, и҆ да́мъ є҆мꙋ̀ мздꙋ̀, до́ндеже жи́въ є҆́смь, и҆ ше́дъ возмѝ сребро̀.	Then he gave him the handwriting, and said unto him, Seek thee a man which may go with thee, and I will give him wages whiles I yet live: and go and receive the money.

И҆ и҆́де и҆ска́ти человѣ́ка, и҆ ѡ҆брѣ́те рафаи́ла, и҆́же бѣ̀ а҆́гг҃лъ, и҆ не вѣ́дѧше:	Therefore when he went to seek a man, he found Raphael that was an angel.
5	5
и҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀: могꙋ́ ли пойтѝ съ тобо́ю въ ра̑ги миді̑искїѧ, и҆ и҆звѣ́стенъ ли є҆сѝ ѡ҆ мѣ́стѣхъ;	But he knew not; and he said unto him, Canst thou go with me to Rages? and knowest thou those places well?

И҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀ а҆́гг҃лъ: пойдꙋ̀ съ тобо́ю, и҆ пꙋ́ть вѣ́мъ, и҆ оу҆ гаваи́ла бра́та на́шегѡ живѧ́хъ.	To whom the angel said, I will go with thee, and I know the way well: for I have lodged with our brother Gabael.

И҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀ тѡві́а: пождѝ мѧ̀, и҆ рекꙋ̀ ѻ҆тцꙋ̀ моемꙋ̀.	Then Tobias said unto him, Tarry for me, till I tell my father.

И҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀: и҆дѝ и҆ не коснѝ.	Then he said unto him, Go, and tarry not. So he went in and said to his father, Behold, I have found one which will go with me. Then he said, Call him unto me, that I may know of what tribe he is, and whether he be a trusty man to go with thee.

И҆ вше́дъ речѐ ѻ҆тцꙋ̀: сѐ, ѡ҆брѣто́хъ, и҆́же по́йдетъ со мно́ю се́й же речѐ: пригласѝ є҆го̀ ко мнѣ̀, да оу҆вѣ̀мъ, ко́егѡ пле́мене є҆́сть, и҆ а҆́ще вѣ́ренъ є҆́сть, є҆́же и҆тѝ съ тобо́ю.	So he called him, and he came in, and they saluted one another.

И҆ призва̀ є҆го̀: и҆ вни́де, и҆ привѣ́тствоваста дрꙋ́гъ дрꙋ́га.	Then Tobit said unto him, Brother, shew me of what tribe and family thou art.

И҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀ тѡві́тъ: бра́те, ѿ ко́егѡ пле́мене и҆ ѿ ко́егѡ ѻ҆те́чества є҆сѝ ты̀; скажи́ ми.	To whom he said, Dost thou seek for a tribe or family, or an hired man to go with thy son? Then Tobit said unto him, I would know, brother, thy kindred and name.

И҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀: пле́мене и҆ ѻ҆те́чества ты̀ и҆́щеши; и҆лѝ нае́мника, и҆́же спꙋтьше́ствꙋетъ съ сы́номъ твои́мъ; И҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀ тѡві́тъ: хощꙋ̀ бра́те, вѣ́дати ро́дъ тво́й и҆ и҆́мѧ.	Then he said, I am Azarias, the son of Ananias the great, and of thy brethren.

Ѻ҆́нъ же речѐ: а҆́зъ а҆зарі́а а҆нані́и вели́кагѡ ѿ бра́тїи твоеѧ̀.	Then Tobit said, Thou art welcome, brother; be not now angry with me, because I have enquired to know thy tribe and thy family; for thou art my brother, of an honest and good stock: for I know Ananias and Jonathas, sons of that great Samaias, as we went together to Jerusalem to worship, and offered the firstborn, and the tenths of the fruits; and they were not seduced with the error of our brethren: my brother, thou art of a good stock.

И҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀: бла́гѡ прише́лъ є҆сѝ, бра́те, и҆ на мѧ̀ да не гнѣ́ваешисѧ, ꙗ҆́кѡ взыска́хъ пле́мѧ твоѐ и҆ ѻ҆те́чество твоѐ оу҆вѣ́дати, и҆ ты̀ є҆сѝ бра́тъ мо́й ѿ добра̀ и҆ бла́га ро́да: зна́хъ бо а҆́зъ а҆нані́ю и҆ і҆ѡнаѳа́на сынѡ́въ семе́а вели́кагѡ, ꙗ҆́кѡ ходи́хомъ кꙋ́пнѡ во і҆ерⷭ҇ли́мъ кла́нѧтисѧ, прносѧ́ще перворѡ́днаѧ и҆ десѧти̑ны плодѡ́въ, и҆ не заблꙋди́ша въ заблꙋжде́нїи бра́тїи на́шеѧ: ѿ ко́рене вели́кагѡ є҆сѝ, бра́те:	But tell me, what wages shall I give thee? wilt thou a drachm a day, and things necessary, as to mine own son?

но рцы̀ мнѣ̀, кꙋ́ю тебѣ̀ и҆́мамъ мздꙋ̀ да́ти; дра́хмꙋ на де́нь и҆ нꙋ̑жднаѧ тебѣ̀ ꙗ҆́коже и҆ сы́нови моемꙋ̀:	Yea, moreover, if ye return safe, I will add something to thy wages.
16	16
и҆ є҆щѐ приложꙋ̀ тебѣ̀ над̾ мздꙋ̀, а҆́ще здра́ви возвратите́сѧ.	So they were well pleased. Then said he to Tobias, Prepare thyself for the journey, and God send you a good journey. And when his son had prepared all things for the journey, his father said, Go thou with this man, and God, which dwelleth in heaven, prosper your journey, and the angel of God keep you company. So they went forth both, and the young man's dog with them.

И҆ благоизво́листа та́кѡ. И҆ речѐ къ тѡві́и: гото́въ вꙋ́ди къ пꙋтѝ, и҆ да благоспѣши́тсѧ ва́ма. И҆ оу҆гото́ва сы́нъ є҆гѡ̀, ꙗ҆̀же къ пꙋтѝ. И҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀ ѻ҆те́цъ є҆гѡ̀: и҆дѝ съ человѣ́комъ си́мъ: ѡ҆бита́ѧй же на нб҃сѝ бг҃ъ бл҃гоꙋстро́итъ пꙋ́ть ва́шъ, и҆ а҆́гг҃лъ є҆гѡ̀ да спꙋтьше́ствꙋетъ ва́ма. И҆ и҆зыдо́ста ѻ҆́ба ѿитѝ, и҆ пе́съ ѻ҆́трочища съ ни́ма.	But Anna his mother wept, and said to Tobit, Why hast thou sent away our son? is he not the staff of our hand, in going in and out before us?

Пла́касѧ же а҆́нна ма́ти є҆гѡ̀ и҆ речѐ къ тѡві́тꙋ: почто̀ ѿпꙋсти́лъ є҆сѝ ча́до на́ше; и҆лѝ не же́злъ рꙋкѝ на́шеѧ є҆́сть, внегда̀ входи́те є҆мꙋ̀ и҆ и҆сходи́ти пред̾ на́ма;	Be not greedy to add money to money: but let it be as refuse in respect of our child.

сребро̀ сребро́мъ да не возврати́тсѧ, но оу҆ме́ты сы́на на́шегѡ да бꙋ́детъ:	For that which the Lord hath given us to live with doth suffice us.
20	20
ꙗ҆́кѡ бо даде́сѧ на́ма жи́ти ѿ гдⷭ҇а, сїѐ дово́лно є҆́сть на́ма.	Then said Tobit to her, Take no care, my sister; he shall return in safety, and thine eyes shall see him.
21	21
И҆ речѐ є҆́й тѡві́тъ: не печа́лисѧ, сестро̀, здра́въ прїи́детъ, и҆ ѻ҆́чи твоѝ оу҆́зрѧтъ є҆го̀:	For the good angel will keep him company, and his journey shall be prosperous, and he shall return safe.

а҆́гг҃лъ бо бла́гъ спꙋтьше́ствовати бꙋ́детъ є҆мꙋ̀ и҆ благоꙋспѣ́етсѧ пꙋ́ть є҆гѡ̀, и҆ возврати́тсѧ здра́въ.	Then she made an end of weeping.
Глава́ ѕ҃	Chapter 6

1	1
И҆ преста̀ пла́кати.	And as they went on their journey, they came in the evening to the river Tigris, and they lodged there.
2	2
Ѻ҆́на же шє́дша пꙋте́мъ, прїидо́ста въ ве́черъ ко ті́грꙋ рѣцѣ̀ и҆ пребы́ста та́мѡ.	And when the young man went down to wash himself, a fish leaped out of the river, and would have devoured him.
3	3
Ѻ҆́трочнщь же сни́де ѡ҆мытисѧ и҆ и҆зскочѝ ры́ба ѿ рѣкѝ и҆ хотѧ́ше пожре́ти ѻ҆́трочища.	Then the angel said unto him, Take the fish. And the young man laid hold of the fish, and drew it to land.

А҆́гг҃лъ же речѐ є҆мꙋ̀: возмѝ ры́бꙋ. И҆ ꙗ҆́тъ ры́бꙋ ѻ҆́трочищь и҆ и҆зве́рже ю҆̀ на зе́млю.	To whom the angel said, Open the fish, and take the heart and the liver and the gall, and put them up safely.

И҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀ а҆́гг҃лъ: разрѣ́жи ры́бꙋ, и҆ взѧ́въ се́рдце и҆ пе́чень и҆ же́лчь, положѝ сохра́ннѡ.	So the young man did as the angel commanded him; and when they had roasted the fish, they did eat it: then they both went on their way, till they drew near to Ecbatane.

И҆ сотворѝ ѻ҆́трочищь, ꙗ҆́коже речѐ є҆мꙋ̀ а҆́гг҃лъ: ры́бꙋ же и҆спє́кша, снѣдо́ста: и҆ и҆до́ста ѻ҆́ба, доне́лиже прили́жистасѧ ко є҆квата́нѡмъ.	Then the young man said to the angel, Brother Azarias, to what use is the heart and the liver and the gall of the fish?

И҆ речѐ ѻ҆́трочищь а҆́гг҃лꙋ: а҆зарі́а бра́те, что̀ є҆́сть се́рдце и҆ пе́чень и҆ же́лчь ры́бїѧ;	And he said unto him, Touching the heart and the liver, if a devil or an evil spirit trouble any, we must make a smoke thereof before the man or the woman, and the party shall be no more vexed.

И҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀: се́рдце и҆ пе́чень, а҆́ще кого̀ смꙋща́етъ де́мѡнъ и҆лѝ дꙋ́хъ ѕо́лъ, си́мъ подоба́етъ кꙋри́ти пред̾ человѣ́комъ и҆лѝ жено́ю, и҆ ктомꙋ̀ не бꙋ́детъ смꙋща́тсиѧ:	As for the gall, it is good to anoint a man that hath whiteness in his eyes, and he shall be healed.

же́лчь же, пома́зати человѣ́ка, и҆́же и҆́мать бѣ́льма на ѻ҆чесѣ́хъ, и҆ и҆зцѣлѣ́етъ.	And when they were come near to Rages,

Є҆гда́ же прибли́жистасѧ ко ра́гѣ,	the angel said to the young man, Brother, to day we shall lodge with Raguel, who is thy cousin; he also hath one only daughter, named Sara; I will speak for her, that she may be given thee for a wife.

возглаго́лю ѡ҆ не́й, є҆́же да́тисѧ тебѣ̀ є҆́й въ женꙋ̀, занѐ тебѣ̀ надлежи́тъ наслѣ́дїе є҆ѧ̀, и҆ ты̀ є҆ди́нъ є҆сѝ ѿ ро́да є҆ѧ̀: ѻ҆трокови́ца же красна̀ и҆ оу҆мна̀ є҆́сть:	And the maid is fair and wise: now therefore hear me, and I will speak to her father; and when we return from Rages we will celebrate the marriage: for I know that Raguel cannot marry her to another according to the law of Moses, but he shall be guilty of death, because the right of inheritance doth rather appertain to thee than to any other.

и҆ нн҃ѣ послꙋ́шай мѧ̀, и҆ возглаго́лю ѻ҆тцꙋ̀ є҆ѧ̀, и҆ є҆гда̀ возврати́мсѧ ѿ ра́гъ, сотвори́мъ бра́къ: поне́же вѣ́мъ рагꙋи́ла, ꙗ҆́кѡ не да́стъ є҆ѧ̀ мꙋ́жꙋ и҆но́мꙋ по зако́нꙋ мѡѷсе́овꙋ, и҆лѝ пови́ненъ бꙋ́детъ сме́рти, занѐ наслѣ́дїе тебѣ̀ подоба́етъ прїѧ́ти, не́жели всѧ́комꙋ человѣ́кꙋ.	Then the young man answered the angel, I have heard, brother Azarias, that this maid hath been given to seven men, who all died in the marriage chamber.

Тогда̀ речѐ ѻ҆́трочищь а҆́гг҃лꙋ: а҆зарі́а бра́те, слы́шахъ а҆́зъ, ꙗ҆́кѡ ѻ҆трокови́ца дана̀ бѣ̀ седмѝ мꙋжє́мъ, и҆ всѝ въ невѣ́стницѣ погибо́ша:	And now I am the only son of my father, and I am afraid, lest, if I go in unto her, I die, as the others before: for a wicked spirit loveth her, which hurteth no one except those which come unto her: wherefore I also fear lest I die, and bring my father's and my mother's life because of me to the grave with sorrow: for they have no other son to bury them.

и҆ нн҃ѣ а҆́зъ є҆ди́нъ є҆́смь ѻ҆тцꙋ̀ и҆ бою́сѧ, да не вше́дъ оу҆мрꙋ̀ ꙗ҆́коже и҆ пре́жднїи, поне́же де́мѡнъ лю́битъ ю҆̀ и҆́же не вреди́тъ ни кого́же ра́звѣ приходѧ́щихъ къ не́й: и҆ нн҃ѣ а҆́зъ бою́сѧ да не оу҆мрꙋ̀ и҆ низведꙋ̀ живо́тъ ѻ҆тца̀ моегѡ̀ и҆ ма́тере моеѧ̀ съ печа́лїю ѡ҆ мнѣ̀ во гро́бъ и҆́хъ, и҆ сы́нъ дрꙋгі́й нѣ́сть и҆́ма, и҆́же погребе́тъ ѧ҆̀.	Then the angel said to him, Dost thou not remember the precepts that thy father gave thee, that thou shouldest marry a wife of thine own kindred? wherefore hear me, O my brother; for she shall be given thee to wife; and make thou no reckoning of the evil spirit; for this same night shall she be given thee in marriage.

Рече́ же є҆мꙋ̀ а҆́гг҃лъ: не по́мниши ли слове́съ, ꙗ҆́же заповѣ́да тебѣ̀ ѻ҆те́цъ тво́й, ѡ҆ є҆́же взѧ́ти тебѣ̀ женꙋ̀ ѿ ро́да твоегѡ̀; и҆ нн҃ѣ послꙋ́шай мѧ̀, бра́те, поне́же тебѣ̀ бꙋ́детъ въ женꙋ̀, а҆ ѡ҆ де́мѡнъ ни є҆ди́ныѧ мы́сли и҆мѣ́й, занѐ въ но́щь сїю̀ да́стсѧ тебѣ̀ ѻ҆на̀ въ женꙋ̀:	And when thou shalt come into the marriage chamber, thou shalt take the ashes of perfume, and shalt lay upon them some of the heart and liver of the fish, and shalt make a smoke with it:

и҆ а҆́ще вни́деши въ невѣ́стникъ, во́змеши жера́токъ ѳѷмїа́мный, и҆ возложи́ши ѿ се́рдца и҆ ѿ пе́чени ры́бныѧ и҆ покꙋри́ши:	and the devil shall smell it, and flee away, and never come again any more: but when thou shalt come to her, rise up both of you, and pray to God which is merciful, who will have pity on you, and save you: fear not, for she is appointed unto thee from the beginning; and thou shalt preserve her, and she shall go with thee. Moreover I suppose that she shall bear thee children. Now when Tobias had heard these things, he loved her, and his heart was effectually joined to her. And he came to Ecbatane.

И҆ прїидо́ста въ до́мъ рагꙋи́левъ: са́рра же срѣ́те и҆̀хъ и҆ ра́достнѡ привѣ́тствоваше и҆̀хъ, а҆ ѻ҆́на ю҆̀: и҆ введѐ и҆̀хъ въ до́мъ.	And he came to the house of Raguel; and Sara met him: and saluted him, and he them; and she brought them into the house.

И҆ речѐ рагꙋи́лъ є҆́днѣ женѣ̀ свое́й: ко́ль подо́бенъ ю҆́ноша тѡві́тꙋ сы́нꙋ бра́та моегѡ̀;	Then said Raguel to Edna his wife, How like is this young man to Tobit my cousin!

И҆ вопросѝ и҆̀хъ рагꙋи́лъ: ѿкꙋ́дꙋ є҆стѐ, бра́тїѧ; И҆ рѣ́ста є҆мꙋ̀: ѿ сынѡ́въ нефѳалі́млихъ плѣне́нныхъ въ нїнеѵі́ю.	And Raguel asked them, From whence are ye, brethren? To whom they said, We are of the sons of Nephthali, which are captives in Nineve.

И҆ речѐ и҆́ма: зна́ета ли тѡві́та бра́та на́шего; Ѻ҆́на же рѣ́ста: зна́ема. И҆ речѐ и҆́ма: здра́вствꙋетъ ли;	Then he said to them, Do ye know Tobit our kinsman? And they said, We know him. Then said he, Is he in good health?

Ѻ҆́на же рѣ́ста: и҆ жи́въ є҆́сть и҆ здра́вствꙋетъ. И҆ рече́ тѡві́а: ѻ҆те́цъ мо́й є҆́сть.	And they said, He is both alive, and in good health: and Tobias said, He is my father.

И҆ и҆зскочѝ рагꙋи́лъ, и҆ ѡ҆блобыза̀ є҆го̀, и҆ пла́касѧ,	Then Raguel leaped up, and kissed him, and wept,

и҆ благословѝ є҆го̀, и҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀: до́брагѡ и҆ блага́гѡ человѣ́ка сы́нъ. И҆ слы́шавъ, ꙗ҆́кѡ тѡві́тъ погꙋбѝ ѻ҆́чи своѝ, ско́рбенъ бы́сть и҆ пла́касѧ:	and blessed him, and said unto him, Thou art the son of an honest and good man. But when he had heard that Tobit was blind, he was sorrowful, and wept.

и҆ є҆́дна жена̀ є҆гѡ̀ и҆ са́рра дще́рь є҆гѡ̀ пла́кастѣсѧ. И҆ прїѧ́ша и҆́хъ оу҆се́рднѡ,	And likewise Edna his wife and Sara his daughter wept. Moreover they entertained them cheerfully; and after that they had killed a ram of the flock, they set store of meat on the table. Then said Tobias to Raphael, Brother Azarias, speak of those things of which thou didst talk in the way, and let this business be dispatched.

И҆ соѡбщѝ сло́во рагꙋи́лꙋ. И҆ речѐ рагꙋи́лъ къ тѡві́и: ꙗ҆́ждь, пі́й и҆ благодꙋ́шествꙋй, тебѣ́ бо досто́итъ дѣ́тище моѐ взѧ́ти: ѻ҆ба́че ѡ҆б̾ѧвлю̀ тебѣ̀ и҆́стинꙋ:	for it is meet that thou shouldest marry my daughter: nevertheless I will declare unto thee the truth.

вдава́хъ дѣ́тище моѐ седмѝ мꙋжє́мъ, и҆ є҆гда̀ вхожда́хꙋ къ не́й, оу҆мира́хꙋ под̾ но́щь: но нн҃ѣ благодꙋ́шествꙋй. И҆ речѐ тѡві́а: не вкꙋшꙋ̀ ничто́же здѣ̀, до́идеже поста́вите и҆ совѣща́етесѧ со мно́ю. И҆ речѐ рагꙋи́лъ: поимѝ ю҆̀ ѿнн҃ѣ по ѡ҆бы́чаю: ты̀ бо бра́тъ є҆сѝ є҆ѧ̀, и҆ ѻ҆на̀ твоѧ̀ є҆́сть, млⷭ҇тивъ же бг҃ъ да бл҃гопоспѣши́тъ ва́ма во бл҃га̑ѧ.	I have given my daughter in marriage to seven men, who died that night they came in unto her: nevertheless for the present be merry. But Tobias said, I will eat nothing here, till we agree and swear one to another.

И҆ призва̀ са́ррꙋ дще́рь свою̀, и҆ є҆́мь рꙋ́кꙋ є҆ѧ̀, предадѐ ю҆̀ тѡві́и въ женꙋ̀ и҆ речѐ: сѐ, по зако́нꙋ мѡѷсе́овꙋ поимѝ ю҆̀ и҆ ѿведѝ ко ѻ҆тцꙋ̀ твоемꙋ̀ И҆ благословѝ и҆̀хъ.	And Raguel said, Then take her from henceforth according to the manner, for thou art her cousin, and she is thine, and the merciful God give you good success in all things.

И҆ призва̀ є҆́днꙋ женꙋ̀ свою̀, и҆ взе́мъ кни́гꙋ, написа̀ пнса́нїе и҆ запечатлѣ̀.	Then he called his daughter Sara, and she came to her father, and he took her by the hand, and gave her to be wife to Tobias, saying, Behold, take her after the law of Moses, and lead her away to thy father. And he blessed them;

И҆ нача́ша ꙗ҆́сти.	and called Edna his wife, and took paper, and did write an instrument of covenants, and sealed it.

И҆ призва̀ рагꙋи́лъ є҆́днꙋ женꙋ̀ свою̀ и҆ речѐ є҆́й: сестро̀, оу҆гото́ви и҆́нъ черто́гъ и҆ введѝ ю҆̀.	Then they began to eat.

И҆ сотворѝ, ꙗ҆́коже речѐ: и҆ введѐ ю҆̀ та́мѡ и҆ пла́касѧ: и҆ воспрїѧ́тъ сле́зы дще́ре своеѧ̀ и҆ речѐ є҆́й:	After Raguel called his wife Edna, and said unto her, Sister, prepare another chamber, and bring her in thither.

оу҆пова́й, ча́до, гдⷭ҇ь нб҃сѐ и҆ землѝ да да́стъ тебѣ̀ ра́дость вмѣ́стѡ печа́ли твоеѧ̀ тоѧ̀: оу҆пова́й, дщѝ.	Which when she had done as he had bidden her, she brought her thither: and she wept, and she received the tears of her daughter, and said unto her,

Є҆гда́ же ѡ҆конча́ша ве́черю, введо́ша тѡві́ю къ не́й.	And when they had supped, they brought Tobias in unto her.

Ѻ҆́нъ же и҆ды́й помѧнꙋ̀ словеса̀ рафаи́лѡва, и҆ взѧ̀ жера́токъ ѳѷмїа́мный, и҆ возложѝ се́рдце ры́бїе и҆ пе́чень, и҆ покꙋрѝ:	And as he went, he remembered the words of Raphael, and took the ashes of the perfumes, and put the heart and the liver of the fish thereupon, and made a smoke therewith.

є҆гда́ же ѡ҆бонѧ̀ де́мѡнъ воню̀, ѿбѣжѐ въ вы̑шнѧѧ є҆гѵ́пта, и҆ свѧза̀ є҆го̀ а҆́гг҃лъ.	The which smell when the evil spirit had smelled, he fled into the utmost parts of Egypt, and the angel bound him.

Є҆гда́ же заключє́на бы́ста ѻ҆́ба, воста̀ тѡві́а ѿ ло́жа и҆ речѐ: воста́ни, сестро̀, и҆ помо́лимсѧ, да поми́лꙋетъ ны̀ гдⷭ҇ь.	And after that they were both shut in together, Tobias rose out of the bed, and said, Sister, arise, and let us pray that God would have pity on us.

И҆ нача̀ тѡві́а глаго́лати: блгⷭ҇ве́нъ є҆сѝ, бж҃е ѻ҆тє́цъ на́шихъ, и҆ блгⷭ҇ве́но и҆́мѧ твоѐ ст҃о́е и҆ сла́вное во вѣ́ки, да блгⷭ҇вѧ́тъ тѧ̀ нб҃са̀ и҆ всѧ̑ созда̑нїѧ твоѧ̑:	Then began Tobias to say, Blessed art thou, O God of our fathers, and blessed is thy holy and glorious name for ever; let the heavens bless thee, and all thy creatures.

ты̀ сотвори́лъ є҆сѝ а҆да́ма и҆ да́лъ є҆сѝ є҆мꙋ̀ помо́щницꙋ є҆́ѵꙋ оу҆твержде́нїе женꙋ̀ є҆гѡ̀: ѿ тѣ́хъ роди́сѧ человѣ́ческое сѣ́мѧ: ты̀ ре́клъ є҆сѝ: не добро̀ бы́ти человѣ́кꙋ є҆ди́номꙋ, сотвори́мъ є҆мꙋ̀ помо́щницꙋ подо́бнꙋю є҆мꙋ̀:	Thou madest Adam, and gavest him Eve his wife for an helper and stay: of them came mankind: thou hast said, It is not good that man should be alone; let us make unto him an aid like unto himself.

и҆ нн҃ѣ, гдⷭ҇и, не блꙋдодѣѧ́нїѧ ра́ди а҆́зъ пое́млю сестрꙋ̀ мою̀ сїю̀, но по и҆́стинѣ: повелѝ поми́лованꙋ мѝ бы́ти и҆ съ не́ю состарѣ́тисѧ.	And now, O Lord, I take not this my sister for lust, but uprightly: therefore mercifully ordain that we may become aged together.

И҆ речѐ съ ни́мъ: а҆ми́нь.	And she said with him, Amen.

И҆ спа́ста ѻ҆́ба но́щїю, И҆ воста́въ рагꙋи́лъ по́йде и҆ и҆скопа̀ гро́бъ, глаго́лѧ:	So they slept both that night. And Raguel arose, and went and made a grave,

є҆да̀ и҆ то́й оу҆́мре;	saying, I fear lest he also be dead.

И҆ прїи́де рагꙋи́лъ въ до́мъ сво́й	But when Raguel was come into his house,

и҆ речѐ є҆́днѣ женѣ̀ свое́й: послѝ є҆ди́нꙋ ѿ рабы́нь, и҆ да ви́дитъ, а҆́ще жи́въ є҆́сть: а҆́ще же ни, да погребе́мъ є҆го̀, и҆ да никто́же оу҆вѣ́сть.	he said unto his wife Edna, Send one of the maids, and let her see whether he be alive: if he be not, that we may bury him, and no man know it.

И҆ вни́де рабы́нѧ ѿве́рзши две́рь, и҆ ѡ҆брѣ́те ѻ҆бои́хъ спѧ́щихъ,	So the maid opened the door, and went in, and found them both asleep,

и҆ и҆зше́дши возвѣстѝ и҆̀мъ, ꙗ҆́кѡ жи́въ є҆́сть.	and came forth, and told them that he was alive.
15	15
И҆ благословѝ рагꙋи́лъ бг҃а, глаго́лѧ: блгⷭ҇ве́нъ є҆сѝ ты̀, бж҃е, во всѧ́цѣмъ бл҃гослове́нїи чи́стѣмъ и҆ ст҃ѣ́мъ: и҆ да блгⷭ҇вѧ́тъ тѧ̀ ст҃і́и твоѝ и҆ всѧ̑ созда̑нїѧ твоѧ̑, и҆ всѝ а҆́гг҃ли твоѝ и҆ и҆збра́нни твоѝ: да блгⷭ҇вѧ́тъ тѧ̀ во вѣ́ки:	Then Raguel praised God, and said, O God, thou art worthy to be praised with all pure and holy praise: therefore let thy saints praise thee with all thy creatures: and let all thine angels and thine elect praise thee for ever.

блгⷭ҇ве́нъ є҆сѝ, ꙗ҆́кѡ возвесели́лъ мѧ̀ є҆сѝ, и҆ не бы́сть мѝ, ꙗ҆́коже непщева́хъ, но по мио́зѣй млⷭ҇ти твое́й сотвори́лъ є҆сѝ съ на́ми:	Thou art to be praised, for thou hast made me joyful; and that is not come to me which I suspected; but thou hast dealt with us according to thy great mercy.

блгⷭ҇ве́нъ є҆сѝ, ꙗ҆́кѡ поми́ловалъ є҆сѝ двои́хъ є҆диноро́дныхъ: сотворѝ и҆́ма, влⷣко, млⷭ҇ть, совершѝ живо́тъ и҆́хъ во здра́вїи съ весе́лїемъ и҆ млⷭ҇тїю.	Thou art to be praised, because thou hast had mercy of two that were the only begotten children of their fathers: grant them mercy, O Lord, and finish their life in health with joy and mercy.

Повелѣ́ же рабѡ́мъ засы́пати гро́бъ,	Then Raguel bade his servants to fill the grave.

и҆ сотворѝ и҆̀мъ бра́къ дні́й четырена́десѧть,	And he kept the wedding feast fourteen days.

И҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀ рагꙋи́лъ, пре́жде да́же соверши́тисѧ днє́мъ бра́ка, съ клѧ́твою, да не и҆зы́детъ, а҆́ще не и҆спо́лнѧтсѧ четырена́десѧть дні́е бра́ка:	For before the days of the marriage were finished, Raguel had said unto him by an oath, that he should not depart till the fourteen days of the marriage were expired;

и҆ тогда̀ взе́мъ по́лъ и҆мѣ́нїй свои́хъ да по́йдетъ со здра́вїемъ ко ѻ҆тцꙋ̀: прѡ́чаѧ же, є҆гда̀ оу҆мрꙋ̀ и҆ жена̀ моѧ̀.	and then he should take the half of his goods, and go in safety to his father; and should have the rest when I and my wife be dead.

И҆ призва̀ тѡві́а рафаи́ла и҆ рече́ є҆мꙋ̀:	Then Tobias called Raphael, and said unto him,

а҆зарі́а бра́те возмѝ съ собо́ю ѻ҆́трока и҆ два̀ велблю̑да, и҆ пойдѝ въ ра̑ги миді̑искїѧ ко гаваи́лꙋ, и҆ принесѝ мѝ сребро̀, и҆ самого̀ приведѝ мѝ на бра́къ,	Brother Azarias, take with thee a servant, and two camels, and go to Rages of Media to Gabael, and bring me the money, and bring him to the wedding.

поне́же заклѧ̀ рагꙋи́лъ не и҆сходи́ти мѝ,	For Raguel hath sworn that I shall not depart.

а҆ ѻ҆те́цъ мо́й сочислѧ́етъ дни̑, и҆ а҆́ще преме́длю мно́гѡ, скорбѣ́ти бꙋ́детъ ѕѣлѡ̀.	But my father counteth the days; and if I tarry long, he will be very sorry.

И҆ и҆́де рафаи́лъ, и҆ пребы́сть оу҆ гаваи́ла, и҆ дадѐ є҆мꙋ̀ рꙋкописа́нїе: ѻ҆́нъ же и҆знесѐ мѣшцы̀ съ печа́тьми и҆ вдадѐ є҆мꙋ̀.	So Raphael went out, and lodged with Gabael, and gave him the handwriting: who brought forth bags which were sealed up, and gave them to him.

И҆ ѡ҆бꙋ́треневаста кꙋ́пнѡ и҆ прїидо́ста на бра́къ. И҆ благословѝ тѡві́а женꙋ̀ свою̀.	And early in the morning they went forth both together, and came to the wedding: and Tobias blessed his wife.
Глава́ і҃	Chapter 10

И҆ тѡві́тъ ѻ҆те́цъ є҆гѡ̀ сочислѧ́ше кі́йждо де́нь: и҆ є҆гда̀ и҆спо́лнишасѧ дні́е пꙋтѝ, и҆ не прихожда́хꙋ,	Now Tobit his father counted every day: and when the days of the journey were expired, and they came not,

речѐ тѡві́тъ: є҆да̀ ка́кѡ посра́млени сꙋ́ть; и҆лѝ не́гли оу҆́мре гаваи́лъ, и҆ никто́же є҆мꙋ̀ дае́тъ сребра̀;	then Tobit said, Are they detained? or is Gabael dead, and there is no man to give him the money?

И҆ скорбѧ́ше ѕѣло̀.	Therefore he was very sorry.

Рече́ же є҆мꙋ̀ жена̀ є҆гѡ̀: поги́бе ⷱ҇ѻ҆́трочищь, поне́же оу҆ме́дли. И҆ нача̀ пла́кастисѧ є҆гѡ̀ и҆ речѐ:	Then his wife said unto him, My son is dead, seeing he stayeth long; and she began to bewail him, and said,

нѣ́сть попече́нїѧ мнѣ̀, ча́до, поне́же лиши́хсѧ тѧ̀ свѣ́та ѻ҆́чїю моє́ю.	Now I care for nothing, my son, since I have let thee go, the light of mine eyes.

Тѡві́тъ же глаго́летъ є҆́й: молчѝ, не печа́лисѧ, здра́въ є҆́сть.	To whom Tobit said, Hold thy peace, take no care, for he is safe.

И҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀ молчѝ, не прельща́й менѐ, поги́бе ѻ҆́трочищь мо́й. И҆ и҆схожда́ше на всѧ́къ де́нь на пꙋ́ть внѣ̀, и҆́мже ѿи́де: и҆ во дни̑ хлѣ́ба не ꙗ҆дѧ́ше, въ но́щехъ же не престава́ше пла́чꙋщисѧ тѡві́и сы́на своегѡ̀, доне́лѣже сконча́шасѧ четырена́десѧть дні́е бра́ка, въ нѧ́же заклѧ̀ рагꙋи́лъ пребы́ти є҆мꙋ̀ та́мѡ. And she went out every day into the way which they went, and did eat no meat in the daytime, and ceased not whole nights to bewail her son Tobias, until the fourteen days of the wedding were expired, which Raguel had sworn that he should spend there. Then Tobias said to Raguel,

И҆ тѡві́а речѐ: нѝ, но ѿпꙋстѝ мѧ̀ ко ѻ҆тцꙋ̀ моемꙋ̀.	But his father in law said unto him, Tarry with me, and I will send to thy father, and they shall declare unto him how things go with thee.

Воста́въ же рагꙋи́лъ, дадѐ є҆мꙋ̀ са́ррꙋ женꙋ̀ є҆гѡ̀ и҆ по́лъ и҆мѣ́нїй, рабы̑ и҆ скоты̀ и҆ сребро̀,	But Tobias said, No; but let me go to my father.

и҆ благослови́въ ѧ҆̀ ѿпꙋстѝ, глаго́лѧ: да бл҃гопоспѣши́тъ ва́мъ, ча̑да, бг҃ъ нб҃сѐ пре́жде не́же оу҆мре́ти мѝ.	Then Raguel arose, and gave him Sara his wife, and half his goods, servants, and cattle, and money:

И҆ речѐ дще́ри свое́й: чтѝ све́крѡвъ твои́хъ, ті́и нн҃ѣ роди́телїе твоѝ сꙋ́ть, да слы́шꙋ ѡ҆ тебѣ̀ слꙋ́хъ до́бръ. И҆ ѡ҆блобыза̀ ю҆̀. По си́хъ ѿи́де тѡві́а благословѧ̀ бг҃а, ꙗ҆́кѡ бл҃гопоспѣшѝ пꙋ́ть є҆гѡ̀: и҆ благословѧ́ше рагꙋи́ла и҆ є҆́днꙋ женꙋ̀ є҆гѡ̀, и҆ и҆дѧ́ше, дондеже прибли́житисѧ и҆̀мъ къ нїнеѵі́и.	And he said to his daughter, Honour thy father and thy mother in law, which are now thy parents, that I may hear good report of thee. And he kissed her. Edna also said to Tobias, The Lord of heaven restore thee, my dear brother, and grant that I may see thy children of my daughter Sara before I die, that I may rejoice before the Lord: behold, I commit my daughter unto thee, of special trust; wherefore do not entreat her evil.

И҆ речѐ рафаи́лъ ко тѡві́и: не вѣ́си ли, бра́те, ка́кѡ ѡ҆ста́вилъ є҆сѝ ѻ҆тца̀ твоего̀;	After these things Tobias went his way, praising God that he had given him a prosperous journey, and blessed Raguel and Edna his wife, and went on his way till they drew near unto Nineve.

предтеце́мъ пред̾ жено́ю твое́ю и҆ оу҆гото́ваимъ до́мъ:	Then Raphael said to Tobias, Dost thou not know, brother, how thou didst leave thy father?

возми́ же въ рꙋ́кꙋ же́лчь ры́бїю. И҆ поидо́ста, и҆ кꙋ́пнѡ и҆́де пе́съ в̾слѣ́дъ и҆́хъ.	let us haste before thy wife, and prepare the house;

А҆́нна же сѣдѧ́ше ѡ҆бзира́ющи на пꙋтѝ сы́на своего̀.	and take in thine hand the gall of the fish. So they went their way, and the dog went after them.

И҆ оу҆смотрѝ є҆го̀ грѧдꙋ́ща и҆ речѐ ѻ҆тцꙋ̀ є҆гѡ̀: сѐ, сы́нъ мо́й грѧде́тъ и҆ человѣ́къ поше́дый съ ни́мъ.	Now Anna sat looking about toward the way for her son.

А҆ рафаи́лъ речѐ: вѣ́мъ а҆́зъ, тѡві́е, ꙗ҆́кѡ ѿве́рзетъ ѻ҆́чи ѻ҆те́цъ тво́й:	And when she espied him coming, she said to his father, Behold, thy son cometh, and the man that went with him.

ты̀ оу҆́бѡ пома́жи же́лчїю на ѻ҆чесе́хъ є҆гѡ̀, и҆ оу҆грызе́нъ ѡ҆тре́тъ, и҆ ѿве́рзетъ бѣ́льма, и҆ оу҆́зритъ тѧ̀.	Then said Raphael, I know, Tobias, that thy father will open his eyes.

И҆ прите́кши а҆́нна нападѐ на вы́ю сы́на своегѡ̀ и҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀: ви́дѣхъ тѧ̀, ча́до,ѿни҃ѣ да оу҆мрꙋ̀. И҆ пла́кастасѧ ѻ҆́ба.	Therefore anoint thou his eyes with the gall, and being pricked therewith, he shall rub, and the whiteness shall fall away, and he shall see thee.

Тѡві́тъ же и҆схожда́ше ко две́ремъ и҆ преткнꙋ́сѧ. Сы́нъ же є҆гѡ̀ притечѐ къ немꙋ̀	Then Anna ran forth, and fell upon the neck of her son, and said unto him, Seeing I have seen thee, my son, from henceforth I am content to die. And they wept both.

и҆ под̾ѧ̀ ѻ҆тца̀ своего̀ и҆ посы́па же́лчь на ѻ҆чеса̀ ѻ҆тца̀ своегѡ̀, глаго́лѧ: дерза́й, ѻ҆́тче.	Tobit also went forth toward the door, and stumbled: but his son ran unto him,

Є҆гда́ же ѡ҆грызє́на бы́ша, ѡ҆трѐ ѻ҆́чи своѝ,	and took hold of his father: and he strake of the gall on his father's eyes, saying, Be of good hope, my father.

и҆ ѿрто́шасѧ ѿ оу҆́глѡвъ ѻ҆че́съ є҆гѡ̀ бѣ́льма, и҆ ви́дѣвъ сы́на своего̀, нападѐ на вы́ю є҆гѡ̀	And when his eyes began to smart, he rubbed them;

и҆ пла́касѧ и҆ речѐ: блгⷭ҇ве́нъ є҆сѝ, бж҃е, и҆ блгⷭ҇ве́но и҆́мѧ твоѐ во вѣ́ки, и҆ блгⷭ҇ве́ни всѝ ст҃і́и твоѝ а҆́гг҃ли,	and the whiteness pilled away from the corners of his eyes: and when he saw his son, he fell upon his neck.

ꙗ҆́кѡ наказа́лъ є҆сѝ и҆ поми́ловалъ є҆сѝ мѧ̀: сѐ, ви́ждꙋ тѡві́ю сы́на моего̀. И҆ вни́де сы́нъ є҆гѡ̀ ра́дꙋѧсѧ, и҆ возвѣстѝ ѻ҆тцꙋ̀ своемꙋ̀ вели̑чїѧ бы̑вшаѧ є҆мꙋ̀ въ миді́и.	And he wept, and said, Blessed art thou, O God, and blessed is thy name for ever; and blessed are all thine holy angels:

И҆ и҆зы́де тѡві́тъ во срѣ́тенїе невѣ́стки своеѧ̀ ра́дꙋѧсѧ и҆ благословѧ̀ бг҃а, ко вратѡ́мъ нїнеѵі́и. И҆ чꙋдѧ́хꙋсѧ ви́дѧщїи є҆го̀ грѧдꙋ́ща, ꙗ҆́кѡ прозрѣ̀.	for thou hast scourged, and hast taken pity on me: for, behold, I see my son Tobias. And his son went in rejoicing, and told his father the great things that had happened to him in Media.

И҆ тѡві́тъ и҆сповѣ́дашесѧ пред̾ ни́ми, ꙗ҆́кѡ поми́лова є҆го̀ бг҃ъ. И҆ є҆гда̀ прнбли́жисѧ тѡві́тъ къ са́ррѣ невѣ́стцѣ свое́й, благословѝ ю҆̀, глаго́лѧ: прїидѝ здра́ва, дщѝ: блгⷭ҇ве́нъ бг҃ъ, и҆́же приведѐ тѧ̀ къ на́мъ, и҆ ѻ҆те́цъ тво́й и҆ ма́ти твоѧ̀. И҆ бы́сть ра́дость всѣ̑мъ сꙋ́щымъ въ нїнеѵі́и бра́тїѧмъ є҆гѡ̀.	Then Tobit went out to meet his daughter in law at the gate of Nineve, rejoicing, and praising God: and they which saw him go marvelled, because he had received his sight.

И҆ прїи́де а҆хїа́харъ, и҆ насва́съ сы́нъ бра́та є҆гѡ̀,	But Tobit gave thanks before them, because God had mercy on him. And when he came near to Sara his daughter in law, he blessed her, saying, Thou art welcome, daughter: God be blessed, which hath brought thee unto us, and blessed be thy father and thy mother. And there was joy among all his brethren which were at Nineve.

И҆ призва̀ тѡві́тъ тѡві́ю сы́на своего̀ и҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀: промы́сли, ча́до мздꙋ̀ человѣ́кꙋ ходи́вшемꙋ съ тобо́ю: и҆ приложи́ти є҆мꙋ̀ подоба́етъ.	Then Tobit called his son Tobias, and said unto him, My son, see that the man have his wages, which went with thee, and thou must give him more.

И҆ речѐ: ѻ҆́тче, не бꙋ́дꙋ ѡ҆би́жденъ да́въ є҆мꙋ̀ по́лъ, ꙗ҆̀же принесо́хъ,	And Tobias said unto him, O father, it is no harm to me to give him half of those things which I have brought:

поне́же приведѐ мѧ̀ тебѣ̀ здра́ва и҆ женꙋ̀ мою̀ и҆зцѣлѝ, и҆ сребро̀ моѐ принесѐ, и҆ тебѐ та́кожде оу҆врачева̀.	for he hath brought me again to thee in safety, and made whole my wife, and brought me the money, and likewise healed thee.

И҆ речѐ ста́рецъ: пра́ведно є҆́сть є҆мꙋ̀.	Then the old man said, It is due unto him.

И҆ призва̀ а҆́гг҃ла и҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀: возмѝ по́лъ всѣ́хъ, ꙗ҆̀же принесо́сте, и҆ пойдѝ здра́въ.	So he called the angel, and he said unto him, Take half of all that ye have brought, and go away in safety.

Тогда̀ призва́въ ѻ҆бои́хъ та́йнѡ, речѐ и҆́ма: блгⷭ҇ви́те бг҃а и҆ томꙋ̀ и҆сповѣ́дайтесѧ, и҆ вели́чїе дади́те є҆мꙋ̀, и҆ и҆сповѣ́дайтесѧ є҆мꙋ̀ пред̾ всѣ́ми живꙋ́щими ѡ҆ си́хъ, ꙗ҆̀же сотворѝ съ ва́ма: добро̀ є҆́же блгⷭ҇ви́ти бг҃а и҆ возноси́ти и҆́мѧ є҆гѡ̀, словеса̀ дѣ́лъ бж҃їихъ благоче́стно сказꙋ́юще: и҆ да не лѣните́сѧ и҆сповѣ́датисѧ є҆мꙋ̀:	Then he took them both apart, and said unto them, Bless God, praise him, and magnify him, and praise him for the things which he hath done unto you in the sight of all that live. It is good to praise God, and exalt his name, and honourably to shew forth the works of God; therefore be not slack to praise him.

та́йнꙋ царе́вꙋ добро̀ храни́ти, дѣла́ же бж҃їѧ ѿкрыва́ти сла́внѡ: добро̀ твори́те, и҆ ѕло̀ не ѡ҆брѧ́щетъ вы̀:	It is good to keep close the secret of a king, but it is honourable to reveal the works of God. Do that which is good, and no evil shall touch you.

бла́го моли́тва съ посто́мъ и҆ ми́лостынею и҆ пра́вдою: бла́го ма́лое съ пра́вдою, не́жели мно́го съ непра́вдою: добро̀ твори́ти ми́лостыню, не́жели сокро́виществовати зла́то,	Prayer is good with fasting and alms and righteousness. A little with righteousness is better than much with unrighteousness. It is better to give alms than to lay up gold:

ми́лостынѧ бо ѿ сме́рти и҆збавлѧ́етъ и҆ та́ѧ ѡ҆чища́етъ всѧ́къ грѣ́х: творѧ́щїи ми́лѡстыни и҆ пра̑вды и҆спо́лнѧтсѧ жи́зни,	for alms doth deliver from death, and shall purge away all sin. Those that exercise alms and righteousness shall be filled with life:

согрѣша́ющїи же вразѝ сꙋ́ть своегѡ̀ живота̀:	but they that sin are enemies to their own life.
11	11
не оу҆таю̀ ѿ ва́съ всѧ́кагѡ словесѐ, рѣ́хъ бо: та́йнꙋ царе́вꙋ храни́ти добро̀, дѣла́ же бж҃їѧ ѿкрыва́ти сла́внѡ:	Surely I will keep close nothing from you. For I said, It was good to keep close the secret of a king, but that it was honourable to reveal the works of God.

и҆ ни҃ѣ, є҆гда̀ моли́лсѧ є҆сѝ ты̀ и҆ невѣ́стка твоѧ̀ са́рра, а҆́зъ приноша́хъ па́мѧть моли́твы ва́шеѧ пред̾ ст҃а́го, и҆ є҆гда̀ погреба́лъ є҆сѝ мє́ртвыѧ, подо́бнѣ присꙋ́тствовахъ тебѣ̀,	Now therefore, when thou didst pray, and Sara thy daughter in law, I did bring the remembrance of your prayers before the Holy One: and when thou didst bury the dead, I was with thee likewise.

и҆ є҆гда̀ не лѣни́лсѧ є҆сѝ воста́ти и҆ ѡ҆ста́вити ѡ҆бѣ́дъ тво́й, да ѿше́дъ покры́еши ме́ртваго, не оу҆таи́лсѧ є҆сѝ менє̀ благотворѧ́й, но съ тобо́ю бѣ́хъ:	And when thou didst not delay to rise up, and leave thy dinner, to go and cover the dead, thy good deed was not hid from me: but I was with thee.

и҆ нн҃ѣ посла́ мѧ бг҃ъ и҆зцѣли́ти тѧ̀ и҆ невѣ́сткꙋ твою̀ са́ррꙋ:	And now God hath sent me to heal thee and Sara thy daughter in law.
15	15
а҆́зъ є҆́смь рафаи́лъ, є҆ди́нъ ѿ седмѝ ст҃ы́хъ а҆́гг҃лѡвъ, и҆̀же прино́сѧтъ мѡли́твы ст҃ы́хъ и҆ вхо́дѧтъ пред̾ сла́вꙋ ст҃а́гѡ.	I am Raphael, one of the seven holy angels, which present the prayers of the saints, and which go in and out before the glory of the Holy One.

И҆ смѧто́стасѧ ѻ҆́ба и҆ падо́ста на лицѐ, занѐ оу҆боѧ́стасѧ.	Then they were both troubled, and fell upon their faces: for they feared.
17	17
И҆ речѐ и҆́ма: не бо́йтесѧ, ꙗ҆́кѡ ми́ръ ва́ма бꙋ́детъ, бг҃а же благослови́те во вѣ́къ:	But he said unto them, Fear not, for it shall go well with you; praise God therefore.
18	18
ꙗ҆́кѡ не свое́ю сѝ благода́тїю, но во́лею бг҃а на́шегѡ прїидо́хъ, сегѡ̀ ра́ди благослови́те є҆го̀ во вѣ́къ:	For not of any favour of mine, but by the will of our God I came; wherefore praise him for ever.

всѧ̑ дни̑ ꙗ҆влѧ́хсѧ ва́ма, и҆ не ꙗ҆до́хъ, нижѐ пи́хъ, но видѣ́нїе вы̀ зрѧ́сте:	All these days I did appear unto you; but I did neither eat nor drink, but ye did see a vision.

и҆ нн҃ѣ и҆сповѣ́дайтесѧ бг҃ꙋ, занѐ восхождꙋ̀ къ посла́вшемꙋ мѧ̀, и҆ напиши́те всѧ̑, ꙗ҆̀же соверши́шасѧ, въ кни́гꙋ.	Now therefore give God thanks: for I go up to him that sent me; but write all things which are done in a book.

И҆ воста́ста и҆ не ктомꙋ̀ ви́дѣста є҆го̀:	And when they arose, they saw him no more.
22	22
и҆ и҆сповѣ́даста дѣла̀ вє́лїѧ и҆ чꙋ̑днаѧ бж҃їѧ, и҆ ка́кѡ ꙗ҆ви́сѧ и҆́ма а҆́гг҃лъ гдⷭ҇ень.	Then they confessed the great and wonderful works of God, and how the angel of the Lord had appeared unto them.
Глава́ г҃і	Chapter 13

1	1
И҆ тѡві́тъ написа̀ моли́твꙋ въ ра́дость и҆ речѐ: блгⷭ҇ве́нъ бг҃ъ живы́й во вѣ́ки и҆ црⷭ҇тво є҆гѡ̀,	Then Tobit wrote a prayer of rejoicing, and said, Blessed be God that liveth for ever, and blessed be his kingdom.

занѐ ѻ҆́нъ наказꙋ́етъ и҆ ми́лꙋетъ, низво́дитъ во а҆́дъ и҆ возво́дитъ, и҆ нѣ́сть и҆́же и҆збѣжи́тъ рꙋкѝ є҆гѡ̀:	For he doth scourge, and hath mercy: he leadeth down to hell, and bringeth up again: neither is there any that can avoid his hand.

и҆сповѣ́дайтесѧ є҆мꙋ̀, сы́нове і҆и҃левы, пред̾ ꙗ҆зы̑ки, занѐ то́й разсѣ́ѧ на́съ въ ни́хъ,	Confess him before the Gentiles, ye children of Israel: for he hath scattered us among them.

та́мѡ ꙗ҆влѧ́йте вели́чїе є҆гѡ̀, возноси́те є҆го̀ пред̾ всѧ́кимъ живꙋ́щимъ, ꙗ҆́кѡ то́й гдⷭ҇ь на́шъ и҆ бг҃ъ, то́й ѻ҆ц҃ъ на́шъ во всѧ̑ вѣ́ки,	There declare his greatness, and extol him before all the living: for he is our Lord, and he is the God our Father for ever.

и҆ нака́зовати и҆́мать на́съ въ непра́вдахъ на́шихъ, и҆ па́ки поми́лꙋетъ и҆ собере́тъ ны̀ ѿ всѣ́хъ ꙗ҆зы́кѡвъ, и҆дѣ́же а҆́ще расточе́ни бꙋ́дете въ ни́хъ:	And he will scourge us for our iniquities, and will have mercy again, and will gather us out of all nations, among whom he hath scattered us.

а҆́ще ѡ҆братнте́сѧ къ немꙋ̀ всѣ́мъ се́рдцемъ ва́шимъ и҆ все́ю дꙋше́ю ва́шею твори́ти пред̾ ни́мъ и҆́стинꙋ, тогда̀ ѡ҆брати́тсѧ къ ва́мъ и҆ не скры́етъ лица̀ своегѡ̀ ѿ ва́съ, и҆ оу҆́зрите, ꙗ҆̀же сотвори́тъ съ ва́ми: и҆ и҆сповѣ́дайтесѧ є҆мꙋ̀ всѣ́ми оу҆сты̑ ва́шими, и҆ благослови́те гдⷭ҇а пра́вды и҆ возноси́те цр҃ѧ̀ вѣкѡ́въ: а҆́зъ въ землѝ плѣне́нїѧ моегѡ̀ и҆сповѣ́даюсѧ є҆мꙋ̀ и҆ сказꙋ́ю крѣ́пость и҆ вели́чїе є҆гѡ̀ ꙗ҆зыкꙋ грѣ́шникѡвъ: ѡ҆брати́тесѧ, грѣ̑шницы, и҆ твори́те пра́вдꙋ пред̾ ни́мъ: кто̀ вѣ́сть, а҆́ще бл҃говоли́тъ ѡ҆ ва́съ и҆ сотвори́тъ млⷭ҇ть ва́мъ;	If ye turn to him with your whole heart, and with your whole mind, and deal uprightly before him, then will he turn unto you, and will not hide his face from you. Therefore see what he will do with you, and confess him with your whole mouth, and praise the Lord of might, and extol the everlasting King. In the land of my captivity do I praise him, and declare his might and majesty to a sinful nation. O ye sinners, turn and do justice before him: who can tell if he will accept you, and have mercy on you?

бг҃а моего̀ возношꙋ̀, и҆ дꙋша̀ моѧ̀ цр҃ѧ̀ нбⷭ҇наго, и҆ возвесели́тсѧ ѡ҆ вели́чїи є҆гѡ̀:	I will extol my God, and my soul shall praise the King of heaven, and shall rejoice in his greatness.

да возглаго́лютъ всѝ и҆ да и҆сповѣ́дѧтсѧ є҆мꙋ̀ во і̑ерⷭ҇ли́мѣ:

і҆ерⷭ҇ли́ме, гра́де ст҃ы́й, нака́жетъ тѧ̀ за дѣла̀ сынѡ́въ твои́хъ и҆ па́ки поми́лꙋетъ сы́ны првⷣныхъ:
10
и҆сповѣ́дайѧ гдⷭ҇еви бла́гѡ и҆ блгⷭ҇вѝ цр҃ѧ̀ вѣкѡ́въ, да па́ки ски́нїѧ є҆гѡ̀ сози́ждетсѧ въ тебѣ̀ съ ра́достїю, и҆ да возвесели́тъ въ тебѣ̀ плѣнє́нныѧ, и҆ да возлю́битъ въ тебѣ̀ бѣ̑дныѧ во всѧ̑ ро́ды вѣ́ка:

ꙗ҆зы́цы мно́зи ѿдале́ча прїи́дꙋтъ ко и҆́мени гдⷭ҇а бг҃а, да́ры въ рꙋка́хъ и҆мꙋ́ще и҆ да́ры цр҃ю̀ нб҃сѐ, ро́дове родѡ́въ восхва́лѧтъ тѧ̀ и҆ дадꙋ́тъ ра́дованїе:	Many nations shall come from far to the name of the Lord God with gifts in their hands, even gifts to the King of heaven; all generations shall praise thee with great joy.

про́клѧти всѝ ненави́дѧщїи тѧ̀, блгⷭ҇ве́ни бꙋ́дꙋтъ всѝ лю́бѧщїи тѧ̀ во вѣ́къ:	Cursed are all they which hate thee, and blessed shall all be which love thee for ever.
13	13
ра́дꙋйсѧ и҆ весели́сѧ ѡ҆ сынѣ́хъ првⷣныхъ, занѐ соберꙋ́тсѧ и҆ возблгⷭ҇вѧ́тъ гдⷭ҇а првⷣныхъ:	Rejoice and be glad for the children of the just: for they shall be gathered together, and shall bless the Lord of the just.
14	14
Ѽⷩ҇̑, бл҃же́ни лю́бѧщїи тѧ̀, возра́дꙋютсѧ ѡ҆ ми́рѣ твое́мъ: бл҃же́ни, є҆лѝцы скорвѣ́ша ѡ҆ всѣ́хъ наказа́нїихъ твои́хъ, занѐ ѡ҆ тебѣ̀ возра́дꙋютсѧ, ви́дѧще всю̀ сла́вꙋ твою̀, и҆ возвеселѧ́тсѧ во вѣ́къ:	O blessed are they which love thee, for they shall rejoice in thy peace: blessed are they which have been sorrowful for all thy scourges; for they shall rejoice for thee, when they have seen all thy glory, and shall be glad for ever.

дꙋша̀ моѧ̀ да блгⷭ҇ви́тъ бг҃а цр҃ѧ̀ веи́каго,	Let my soul bless God the great King.
16	16
ꙗ҆́кѡ назда́нъ бꙋ́детъ і҆ерⷭ҇ли́мъ сапфі́ромъ и҆ смара́гдомъ и҆ ка́менемъ честны́мъ, стѣ́ны твоѧ̑ и҆ столпѝ и҆ забра̑ла зла́томъ чи́стымъ,	For Jerusalem shall be built up with sapphire, and emerald, and precious stone: thy walls and towers and battlements with pure gold.
17	17
и҆ стѡ́гны і҆ерⷭ҇ли́мскїѧ вирѵ́лломъ и҆ а҆нѳра́ѯомъ и҆ ка́менїемъ ѿ сꙋфі́ра оу҆те́лютсѧ,	And the streets of Jerusalem shall be paved with beryl and carbuncle and stone of Ophir.
18	18
и҆ рекꙋ́тъ всѧ̑ стѡ́гны є҆гѡ̀: а҆ллилꙋ́їа и҆ восхва́лѧтъ, глаго́люще: блгⷭ҇ве́нъ бг҃ъ, и҆́же вознесѐ во всѧ̑ вѣ́ки.	And all her streets shall say, Alleluia; and they shall praise him, saying, Blessed be God, which hath extolled it for ever.
Глава́ д҃і	Chapter 14

1	1
И҆ преста̀ и҆сповѣ́даѧсѧ тѡві́тъ.	So Tobit made an end of praising God.
2	2
И҆ бѣ̀ лѣ́тъ ѻ҆сми́десѧти ѻ҆смѝ, є҆гда̀ погꙋбѝ зра́ки, и҆ по лѣ́тѣхъ ѻ҆смѝ прозрѣ̀: и҆ творѧ́ше ми́лѡстыни, и҆ приложѝ боѧ́тисѧ гдⷭ҇а бг҃а и҆ и҆сповѣ́датисѧ є҆мꙋ̀:	And he was eight and fifty years old when he lost his sight, which was restored to him after eight years: and he gave alms, and he increased in the fear of the Lord God, and praised him.

ѕѣлѡ́ же состарѣ́сѧ, и҆ прнзва̀ сы́на своего̀ и҆ ше́сть сынѡ́въ є҆гѡ̀ и҆ речѐ є҆мꙋ̀: ча́до, возмѝ сы́ны твоѧ̑, сѐ, состарѣ́хсѧ и҆ при и҆схожде́нїи ѿ житїѧ̀ є҆́смь:	And when he was very aged, he called his son, and the sons of his son, and said to him, My son, take thy children; for, behold, I am aged, and am ready to depart out of this life.

пойдѝ въ миді́ю, ча́до, оу҆вѣ́рихсѧ бо, є҆ли̑ка глаго́ла і҆ѡ́на прⷪ҇ро́къ ѡ҆ нїнеѵі́и, ꙗ҆́кѡ разори́тсѧ, въ миді́и же бꙋ́детъ ми́ръ па́че да́же до вре́мене, и҆ ꙗ҆́кѡ бра́тїѧ на̑ша на землѝ расточа́тсѧ ѿ благі́ѧ землѝ, и҆ і҆ерⷭ҇ли́мъ бꙋ́детъ пꙋ́стъ, и҆ до́мъ бж҃їй въ не́мъ сожже́нъ бꙋ́детъ и҆ пꙋ́стъ бꙋ́детъ до вре́мене:	Go into Media, my son, for I surely believe those things which Jonas the prophet spake of Nineve, that it shall be overthrown; and that for a time peace shall rather be in Media; and that our brethren shall lie scattered in the earth from that good land: and Jerusalem shall be desolate, and the house of God in it shall be burned, and shall be desolate for a time;

и҆ па́ки поми́лꙋетъ и҆̀хъ бг҃ъ и҆ возврати́тъ и҆̀хъ въ зе́млю, и҆ сози́ждꙋтъ до́мъ, не ꙗ҆ко́въ пе́рвый, до́ндеже и҆спо́лнѧтсѧ времена̀ вѣ́ка: и҆ по си́хъ возвратѧ́тсѧ ѿ плѣне́нїй и҆ сози́ждꙋтъ і҆ерⷭ҇ли́мъ че́стнѡ, и҆ до́мъ бж҃їй въ не́мъ сози́ждетсѧ во всѧ̑ ро́ды вѣ́ка зда́нїемъ сла́внымъ, ꙗ҆́коже глаго́лаша ѡ҆ не́мъ прⷪ҇ро́цы:	and that again God will have mercy on them, and bring them again into the land, where they shall build a temple, but not like to the first, until the time of that age be fulfilled; and afterward they shall return from all places of their captivity, and build up Jerusalem gloriously, and the house of God shall be built in it with a glorious building, as the prophets have spoken thereof.

и҆ всѝ ꙗ҆зы́цы ѡ҆братѧ́тсѧ и҆́стиннѡ боѧ́тисѧ гдⷭ҇а бг҃а и҆ ѡ҆прове́ргнꙋтъ і҆́дѡлы своѧ̑,	And all nations shall turn, and fear the Lord God truly, and shall bury their idols.
7	7
и҆ возблгⷭ҇вѧ́тъ всѝ ꙗ҆зы́цы гдⷭ҇а, и҆ лю́дїе є҆гѡ̀ и҆сповѣ́дѧтсѧ бг҃ꙋ, и҆ вознесе́тъ гдⷭ҇ь лю́ди своѧ̑, и҆ возра́дꙋютсѧ всѝ лю́бѧщїи гдⷭ҇а бг҃а во и҆́стинѣ и҆ пра́вдѣ, творѧ́ще ми́лость бра́тїи на́шей:	So shall all nations praise the Lord, and his people shall confess God, and the Lord shall exalt his people; and all those which love the Lord God in truth and justice shall rejoice, shewing mercy to our brethren.
8	8
и҆ нн҃ѣ, ча́до, ѿидѝ ѿ нїнеѵі́и, ꙗ҆́кѡ всѧ́чески бꙋ́дꙋтъ, ꙗ҆̀же глаго́ла прⷪ҇ро́къ і҆ѡ́на:	And now, my son, depart out of Nineve, because that those things which the prophet Jonas spake shall surely come to pass.
9	9
ты́ же сохранѝ зако́нъ и҆ повелѣ̑нїѧ и҆ бꙋ́ди любоми́лостивъ и҆ пра́веденъ, да тебѣ̀ бла́го бꙋ́детъ:	But keep thou the law and the commandments, and shew thyself merciful and just, that it may go well with thee.
10	10
и҆ погребѝ мѧ̀ до́брѣ, и҆ ма́терь твою̀ со мно́ю, и҆ да не ктомꙋ̀ пребꙋ́дете въ нїнеѵі́и: ча́до, ви́ждь, что̀ сотворѝ а҆ма́нъ а҆хїа́харꙋ корми́вшемꙋ є҆го̀, ꙗ҆́кѡ ѿ свѣ́та ѿведѐ є҆го̀ во тмꙋ̀, и҆ є҆ли̑ка воздадѐ є҆мꙋ̀: и҆ а҆хїа́харъ оу҆́бѡ спасе́сѧ, томꙋ́ же воздаѧ́нїе воздаде́сѧ, и҆ то́й сни́де во тмꙋ̀: манассі́а сотворѝ милосе́рдїе и҆ спасе́сѧ ѿ сѣ́ти сме́ртныѧ, ю҆́же потчѐ є҆мꙋ̀: а҆ма́нъ же падѐ въ сѣ́ть и҆ поги́бе:	And bury me decently, and thy mother with me; but tarry no longer at Nineve. Remember, my son, how Aman handled Achiacharus that brought him up, how out of light he brought him into darkness, and how he rewarded him again: yet Achiacharus was saved, but the other had his reward: for he went down into darkness. Manasses gave alms, and escaped the snares of death which they had set for him: but Aman fell into the snare, and perished.

и҆ ни҃ѣ, ча̑да, вѣ́ждьте, что̀ ми́лостынѧ твори́тъ и҆ пра́вда и҆збавлѧ́етъ. И҆ сїѧ̑ глаго́лѧ, и҆спꙋстѝ дꙋ́шꙋ свою̀ на ѻ҆дрѣ̀: бѣ́ же лѣ́тъ ста̀ пѧти́десѧти ѻ҆смѝ. И҆ погребѐ є҆го̀ сла́внѡ.	Wherefore now, my son, consider what alms doeth, and how righteousness doth deliver. When he had said these things, he gave up the ghost in the bed, being an hundred and eight and fifty years old; and he buried him honourably.
12	12
И҆ є҆гда̀ оу҆́мре а҆́нна, погребѐ ю҆̀ со ѻ҆тце́мъ свои́мъ. Ѿи́де же тѡві́а съ жено́ю свое́ю и҆ съ сынмѝ свои́ми во є҆квата́ны ко рагꙋи́лꙋ те́стю своемꙋ̀,	And when Anna his mother was dead, he buried her with his father. But Tobias departed with his wife and children to Ecbatane to Raguel his father in law,

и҆ состарѣ́сѧ че́стнѡ, и҆ погребѐ те́стєвъ свои́хъ сла́внѡ, и҆ наслѣ́ди и҆мѣ́нїе и҆́хъ и҆ тѡві́та ѻ҆тца̀ своегѡ̀:	where he became old with honour; and he buried his father and mother in law honourably, and he inherited their substance, and his father Tobit's.
14	14
и҆ оу҆́мре (сы́й) лѣ́тъ ста̀ два́десѧти седмѝ во є҆квата́нѣхъ миді́йскихъ:	And he died at Ecbatane in Media, being an hundred and seven and twenty years old.
15	15
и҆ слы́ша, пре́жде не́же оу҆мре́ти є҆мꙋ̀, погꙋбле́нїе нїнеѵі́и, ю҆́же плѣнѝ навꙋходоно́соръ и҆ а҆сꙋи́ръ: и҆ возра́довасѧ, пре́жде не́же оу҆́мре, ѡ҆ нїнеѵі́и.	But before he died he heard of the destruction of Nineve, which was taken by Nabuchodonosor and Assuerus: and before his death he rejoiced over Nineve.
