ΛΟΓΟΙ Νεεμία υἱοῦ ᾿Αχαλία, καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν μηνὶ Χασελεῦ ἔτους εἰκοστοῦ καὶ ἐγὼ ἤμην ἐν Σουσὰν ἀβιρά,	The words of Neemias the son of Chelcia. And it came to pass in the month Chaseleu, of the twentieth year, that I was in Susan the palace.

καὶ ἦλθεν ᾿Ανανὶ εἷς ἀπὸ ἀδελφῶν μου, αὐτὸς καὶ ἄνδρες ᾿Ιούδα, καὶ ἠρώτησα αὐτοὺς περὶ τῶν σωθέντων, οἳ κατελείφθησαν ἀπὸ τῆς αἰχμαλωσίας καὶ περὶ ῾Ιερουσαλήμ,	And Anani, one of my brethren, came, he and some men of Juda; and I asked them concerning those that had escaped, who had been left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.

καὶ εἴποσαν πρός με· οἱ καταλειπόμενοι οἱ καταλειφθέντες ἀπὸ τῆς αἰχμαλωσίας ἐκεῖ ἐν τῇ χώρᾳ ἐν πονηρίᾳ μεγάλῃ καὶ ἐν ὀνειδισμῷ, καὶ τείχη ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ καθῃρημένα, καὶ αἱ πύλαι αὐτῆς ἐνεπρήσθησαν ἐν πυρί.	And they said to me, The remnant, even those that are left of the captivity, are there in the land, in great distress and reproach: and the walls of Jerusalem are thrown down, and its gates are burnt with fire.

καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἀκοῦσαί με τοὺς λόγους τούτους ἐκάθισα καὶ ἔκλαυσα καὶ ἐπένθησα ἡμέρας καὶ ἤμην νηστεύων καὶ προσευχόμενος ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ	And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for several days, and continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven.

καὶ εἶπα· μὴ δή, Κύριε ὁ Θεὸς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, ὁ ἰσχυρός, ὁ μέγας καὶ φοβερός, φυλάσσων τὴν διαθήκην καὶ τὸ ἔλεός σου τοῖς ἀγαπῶσιν αὐτὸν καὶ τοῖς φυλάσσουσι τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτοῦ·	And I said, Nay, I pray thee, O Lord God of heaven, the mighty, the great and terrible, keeping thy covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to those that keep his commandments:

ἔστω δὴ τὸ οὖς σου προσέχον καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοί σου ἀνεῳγμένοι τοῦ ἀκοῦσαι προσευχὴν τοῦ δούλου σου, ἣν ἐγὼ προσεύχομαι ἐνώπιόν σου σήμερον ἡμέραν καὶ νύκτα περὶ υἱῶν ᾿Ισραὴλ δούλων σου. καὶ ἐξαγορεύσω ἐπὶ ἁμαρτίαις υἱῶν ᾿Ισραήλ, ἃς ἡμάρτομέν σοι. καὶ ἐγὼ καὶ ὁ οἶκος πατρός μου ἡμάρτομεν·	let now thine ear be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee at this time, this day both day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and make confession for the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and the house of my father have sinned.

διαλύσει διελύσαμεν πρός σε· καὶ οὐκ ἐφυλάξαμεν τὰς ἐντολὰς καὶ τὰ προστάγματα καὶ τὰ κρίματα, ἃ ἐνετείλω τῷ Μωυσῇ παιδί σου.	We have altogether broken covenant with thee, and we have not kept the commandments, and the ordinances, and the judgments, which thou didst command thy servant Moses.

μνήσθητι δὴ τὸν λόγον, ὃν ἐνετείλω τῷ Μωυσῇ παιδί σου λέγων· ὑμεῖς ἐὰν ἀσυνθετήσητε, ἐγὼ διασκορπιῶ ὑμᾶς ἐν τοῖς λαοῖς·	Remember, I pray thee, the word wherewith thou didst charge thy servant Moses, saying, If ye break covenant with me, I will disperse you among the nations.

καὶ ἐὰν ἐπιστρέψητε πρός με καὶ φυλάξητε τὰς ἐντολάς μου καὶ ποιήσητε αὐτάς, ἐὰν ᾖ ἡ διασπορὰ ὑμῶν ἀπ’ ἄκρου τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, ἐκεῖθεν συνάξω αὐτοὺς καὶ εἰσάξω αὐτοὺς εἰς τὸν τόπον, ὃν ἐξελεξάμην κατασκηνῶσαι τὸ ὄνομά μου ἐκεῖ.	But if ye turn again to me, and keep my commandments, and do them; if ye should be scattered under the utmost bound of heaven, thence will I gather them, and I will bring them into the place which I have chosen to cause my name to dwell there.

καὶ αὐτοὶ παῖδές σου καὶ λαός σου, οὓς ἐλυτρώσω ἐν τῇ δυνάμει σου τῇ μεγάλῃ καὶ ἐν τῇ χειρί σου τῇ κραταιᾷ.	Now they are thy servants and thy people, whom thou hast redeemed with thy great power, and with thy strong hand.

μὴ δή, Κύριε· ἀλλὰ ἔστω τὸ οὖς σου προσέχον εἰς τὴν προσευχὴν τοῦ δούλου σου καὶ εἰς τὴν προσευχὴν παίδων σου τῶν θελόντων φοβεῖσθαι τὸ ὄνομά σου· καὶ εὐόδωσον δὴ τῷ παιδί σου σήμερον καὶ δὸς αὐτὸν εἰς οἰκτιρμοὺς ἐνώπιον τοῦ ἀνδρὸς τούτου. καὶ ἐγὼ ἤμην οἰνοχόος τῷ βασιλεῖ.	Turn not away, I pray thee, O Lord, but let thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and cause him to find mercy in the sight of this man. Now I was the king's cup-bearer.
Κεφάλαιο 2	Chapter 2

ΚΑΙ ἐγένετο ἐν μηνὶ Νισὰν ἔτους εἰκοστοῦ ᾿Αρθασασθὰ βασιλεῖ καὶ ἦν ὁ οἶνος ἐνώπιον ἐμοῦ, καὶ ἔλαβον τὸν οἶνον καὶ ἔδωκα τῷ βασιλεῖ, καὶ οὐκ ἦν ἕτερος ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ.	And it came to pass in the month Nisan of the twentieth year of king Arthasastha, that the wine was before me: and I took the wine, and gave it to the king: and there was not another before him.

καὶ εἶπέ μοι ὁ βασιλεύς· διατί τὸ πρόσωπόν σου πονηρὸν καὶ οὐκ εἶ μετριάζων; καὶ οὐκ ἔστι τοῦτο, εἰ μὴ πονηρία καρδίας. καὶ ἐφοβήθην πολὺ σφόδρα,	And the king said to me, Why is thy countenance sad, and dost thou not control thyself? and now this is nothing but sorrow of heart. Then I was very much alarmed,

καὶ εἶπα τῷ βασιλεῖ· ὁ βασιλεὺς εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ζήτω· διατί οὐ μὴ γένηται πονηρὸν τὸ πρόσωπόν μου, διότι ἡ πόλις, οἶκος μνημείων πατέρων μου, ἠρημώθη καὶ αἱ πύλαι αὐτῆς κατεβρώθησαν ἐν πυρί;	and I said to the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be said, forasmuch as the city, even the home of the sepulchres of my fathers, has been laid waste, and her gates have been devoured with fire?

καὶ εἶπέ μοι ὁ βασιλεύς· περὶ τίνος τοῦτο σὺ ζητεῖς; καὶ προσηυξάμην πρὸς τὸν Θεὸν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ	And the king said to me, For what dost thou ask thus? So I prayed to the God of heaven.

καὶ εἶπα τῷ βασιλεῖ· εἰ ἐπὶ τὸν βασιλέα ἀγαθόν, καὶ εἰ ἀγαθυνθήσεται ὁ παῖς σου ἐνώπιόν σου ὥστε πέμψαι αὐτὸν ἐν ᾿Ιούδᾳ εἰς πόλιν μνημείων πατέρων μου, καὶ ἀνοικοδομήσω αὐτήν.	And I said to the king, If it seem good to the king, and if thy servant shall have found favour in thy sight, I ask that thou wouldest send him into Juda, to the city of the sepulchres of my fathers; then will I rebuild it.

καὶ εἶπέ μοι ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ ἡ παλλακὴ ἡ καθημένη ἐχόμενα αὐτοῦ· ἕως πότε ἔσται ἡ πορεία σου καὶ πότε ἐπιστρέψεις; καὶ ἠγαθύνθη ἐνώπιον τοῦ βασιλέως, καὶ ἀπέστειλέ με, καὶ ἔδωκα αὐτῷ ὅρον,	And the king, and his concubine that sat next to him, said to me, For how long will thy journey be, and when wilt thou return? and the proposal was pleasing before the king, and he sent me away, and I appointed him a time.

καὶ εἶπα τῷ βασιλεῖ· εἰ ἐπὶ τὸν βασιλέα ἀγαθόν, δότω μοι ἐπιστολὰς πρὸς τοὺς ἐπάρχους πέραν τοῦ ποταμοῦ ὥστε παραγαγεῖν με, ἕως ἔλθω ἐπὶ ᾿Ιούδαν,	And I said to the king, If it seem good to the king, let him give me letters to the governors beyond the river, so as to forward me till I come to Juda;

καὶ ἐπιστολὴν ἐπὶ ᾿Ασὰφ φύλακα τοῦ παραδείσου, ὅς ἐστι τῷ βασιλεῖ, ὥστε δοῦναί μοι ξύλα στεγάσαι τὰς πύλας καὶ εἰς τὸ τεῖχος τῆς πόλεως καὶ εἰς οἶκον, ὃν εἰσελεύσομαι εἰς αὐτόν. καὶ ἔδωκέ μοι ὁ βασιλεὺς ὡς χεὶρ Θεοῦ ἡ ἀγαθή.	and a letter to Asaph the keeper of the garden which belongs to the king, that he may give me timber to cover the gates, and for the wall of the city, and for the house into which I shall enter. And the king gave to me, according as the good hand of God was upon me.

καὶ ἦλθον πρὸς τοὺς ἐπάρχους πέραν τοῦ ποταμοῦ καὶ ἔδωκα αὐτοῖς τὰς ἐπιστολὰς τοῦ βασιλέως, καὶ ἀπέστειλε μετ’ ἐμοῦ ὁ βασιλεὺς ἀρχηγοὺς δυνάμεως καὶ ἱππεῖς.	And I came to the governors beyond the river, and I gave them the king's letters. (Now the king had sent with me captains of the army and horsemen.)

καὶ ἤκουσε Σαναβαλλὰτ ὁ ᾿Αρωνὶ καὶ Τωβία ὁ δοῦλος ᾿Αμμωνί, καὶ πονηρὸν αὐτοῖς ἐγένετο ὅτι ἥκει ὁ ἄνθρωπος ζητῆσαι ἀγαθὸν τοῖς υἱοῖς ᾿Ισραήλ.	And Sanaballat the Aronite heard it, and Tobia the servant, the Ammonite, and it was grievous to them that a man was come to seek good for the children of Israel.

Καὶ ἦλθον εἰς ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ καὶ ἤμην ἐκεῖ ἡμέρας τρεῖς.	So I came to Jerusalem, and was there three days.
12	12
καὶ ἀνέστην νυκτὸς ἐγὼ καὶ ἄνδρες ὀλίγοι μετ’ ἐμοῦ· καὶ οὐκ ἀπήγγειλα ἀνθρώπῳ τί ὁ Θεὸς δίδωσιν εἰς καρδίαν μου τοῦ ποιῆσαι μετὰ τοῦ ᾿Ισραήλ, καὶ κτῆνος οὐκ ἔστι μετ’ ἐμοῦ, εἰ μὴ τὸ κτῆνος, ᾧ ἐγὼ ἐπιβαίνω ἐπ’ αὐτῷ.	And I rose up by night, I and a few men with me; and I told no man what God put into my heart to do with Israel; and there was no beast with me, except the beast which I rode upon.

καὶ ἐξῆλθον ἐν πύλῃ τοῦ Γωληλὰ καὶ πρὸς στόμα πηγῆς τῶν συκῶν καὶ εἰς πύλην τῆς κοπρίας καὶ ἤμην συντρίβων ἐν τῷ τείχει ῾Ιερουσαλήμ, ὃ αὐτοὶ καθαιροῦσι καὶ πύλαι αὐτῆς κατεβρώθησαν πυρί.	And I went forth by the gate of the valley by night, and to the mouth of the well of fig trees, and to the dung-gate: and I mourned over the wall of Jerusalem which they were destroying, and her gates were devoured with fire.

καὶ παρῆλθον ἐπὶ πύλην τοῦ ᾿Αΐν καὶ εἰς κολυμβήθραν τοῦ βασιλέως, καὶ οὐκ ἦν τόπος τῷ κτήνει παρελθεῖν ὑποκάτω μου.	And I passed on to the fountain gate, and to the king's pool; and there was no room for the beast to pass under me.
15	15
καὶ ἤμην ἀναβαίνων ἐν τῷ τείχει χειμάρρου νυκτὸς καὶ ἤμην συντρίβων ἐν τῷ τείχει, καὶ ἤμην ἐν πύλῃ τῆς φάραγγος καὶ ἐπέστρεψα.	And I went up by the wall of the brook by night, and mourned over the wall, and passed through the gate of the valley, and returned.
16	16
τότε οἱ φυλάσσοντες οὐκ ἔγνωσαν τί ἐπορεύθην καὶ τί ἐγὼ ποιῶ, καὶ τοῖς ᾿Ιουδαίοις καὶ τοῖς ἱερεῦσι καὶ τοῖς ἐντίμοις καὶ τοῖς στρατηγοῖς καὶ τοῖς καταλοίποις τοῖς ποιοῦσι τὰ ἔργα, ἕως τότε οὐκ ἀπήγγειλα.	And the sentinels knew not why I went, nor what I was doing; and until that time I told it not to the Jews, or to the priests, or to the nobles, or to the captains, or to the rest of the men who wrought the works.
17	17
καὶ εἶπα πρὸς αὐτούς· ὑμεῖς βλέπετε τὴν πονηρίαν ταύτην, ἐν ᾗ ἐσμεν ἐν αὐτῇ, πῶς ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ ἔρημος καὶ αἱ πύλαι αὐτῆς ἐδόθησαν πυρί· δεῦτε καὶ διοικοδομήσωμεν τὸ τεῖχος ῾Ιερουσαλήμ, καὶ οὐκ ἐσόμεθα ἔτι ὄνειδος.	Then I said to them, Ye see this evil, in which we are, how Jerusalem is desolate, and her gates have been set on fire: come, and let us build throughout the wall of Jerusalem, and we shall be no longer a reproach.

καὶ ἀπήγγειλα αὐτοῖς τὴν χεῖρα τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἥ ἐστιν ἀγαθὴ ἐπ’ ἐμέ, καὶ τοὺς λόγους τοῦ βασιλέως, οὓς εἶπέ μοι, καὶ εἶπα· ἀναστῶμεν καὶ οἰκοδομήσωμεν. καὶ ἐκραταιώθησαν αἱ χεῖρες αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ ἀγαθόν.	And I told them of the hand of God which was good upon me, also about the words of the king which he spoke to me: and I said, Let us arise and build. And their hands were strengthened for the good work.
19	19
καὶ ἤκουσε Σαναβαλλὰτ ὁ ᾿Αρωνὶ καὶ Τωβία ὁ δοῦλος ὁ ᾿Αμμωνὶ καὶ Γησὰμ ὁ ᾿Αραβὶ καὶ ἐξεγέλασαν ἡμᾶς καὶ ἦλθον ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς καὶ εἶπαν· τί τὸ ρῆμα τοῦτο, ὃ ὑμεῖς ποιεῖτε; ᾖ ἐπὶ τὸν βασιλέα ὑμεῖς ἀποστατεῖτε;	And Sanaballat the Aronite, and Tobia the servant, the Ammonite, and Gesam the Arabian, heard it, and they laughed us to scorn, and came to us, and said, What is this thing that ye are doing? are ye revolting against the king?

καὶ ἐπέστρεψα αὐτοῖς λόγον καὶ εἶπα αὐτοῖς· ὁ Θεὸς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, αὐτὸς εὐοδώσει ἡμῖν, καὶ ἡμεῖς δοῦλοι αὐτοῦ καθαροί, καὶ οἰκοδομήσομεν· καὶ ὑμῖν οὐκ ἔστι μερὶς καὶ δικαιοσύνη καὶ μνημόσυνον ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλήμ.	And I answered them, and said to them, The God of heaven, he shall prosper us, and we his servants are pure, and we will build: but ye have no part, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.
Κεφάλαιο 3	Chapter 3

1	1
ΚΑΙ ἀνέστη ᾿Ελιασοὺβ ὁ ἱερεὺς ὁ μέγας καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ ᾠκοδόμησαν τὴν πύλην τὴν προβατικήν. αὐτοὶ ἡγίασαν αὐτὴν καὶ ἔστησαν θύρας αὐτῆς καὶ ἕως πύργου τῶν ἑκατὸν ἡγίασαν ἕως πύργου ᾿Αναμεὴλ	Then Eliasub the high priest, and his brethren the priests, rose up, and built the sheep-gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even to the tower of the hundred they sanctified it, to the tower of Anameel.

καὶ ἐπὶ χεῖρας ἀνδρῶν υἱῶν ῾Ιεριχὼ καὶ ἐπὶ χεῖρας υἱῶν Ζακχούρ, υἱοῦ ᾿Αμαρί.	And they builded by the side of the men of Jericho, and by the side of the sons of Zacchur, the son of Amari.

καὶ τὴν πύλην τὴν ἰχθυηρὰν ᾠκοδόμησαν υἱοὶ ᾿Ασανά· αὐτοὶ ἐστέγασαν αὐτὴν καὶ ἔστησαν θύρας αὐτῆς καὶ κλεῖθρα αὐτῆς καὶ μοχλοὺς αὐτῆς.	And the sons of Asana built the fish-gate; they roofed it, and covered in its doors, and bolts, and bars.

καὶ ἐπὶ χεῖρα αὐτῶν κατέσχεν ἀπὸ Ραμὼθ υἱὸς Οὐρία, υἱοῦ ᾿Ακκώς. καὶ ἐπὶ χεῖρα αὐτῶν κατέσχε Μοσολλὰμ υἱὸς Βαραχίου υἱοῦ Μαζεβήλ, καὶ ἐπὶ χεῖρα αὐτῶν κατέσχε Σαδὼκ υἱὸς Βαανά.	And next to them the order reached to Ramoth the son of Uria, the son of Accos, and next to them Mosollam son of Barachias the son of Mazebel took his place: and next to them Sadoc the son of Baana took his place.

καὶ ἐπὶ χεῖρα αὐτῶν κατέσχοσαν οἱ Θεκωΐμ, καὶ ἀδωρηὲμ οὐκ εἰσήνεγκαν τράχηλον αὐτῶν εἰς δουλείαν αὐτῶν.	And next to them the Thecoim took their place; but the Adorim applied not their neck to their service.

καὶ τὴν πύλην ᾿Ιασαναΐ ἐκράτησαν ᾿Ιωϊδὰ υἱὸς Φασὲκ καὶ Μεσουλὰμ υἱὸς Βασωδία· αὐτοὶ ἐστέγασαν αὐτὴν καὶ ἔστησαν θύρας αὐτῆς καὶ κλεῖθρα αὐτῆς καὶ μοχλοὺς αὐτῆς.	And Joida the son of Phasec, and Mesulam son of Basodia, repaired the old gate; they covered it in, and set up its doors, and its bolts, and its bars.

καὶ ἐπὶ χεῖρα αὐτῶν ἐκράτησαν Μαλτίας ὁ Γαβαωνίτης καὶ Εὐάρων ὁ Μηρωνωθίτης, ἄνδρες τῆς Γαβαὼν καὶ τῆς Μασφὰ ἕως θρόνου τοῦ ἄρχοντος τοῦ πέραν τοῦ ποταμοῦ,	And next to them repaired Maltias the Gabaonite, and Evaron the Meronothite, the men of Gabaon and Maspha, to the throne of the governor on this side the river.

καὶ παρ’ αὐτὸν παρησφαλίσατο ᾿Οζιὴλ υἱὸς ᾿Αραχίου πυρωτῶν. καὶ ἐπὶ χεῖρα αὐτῶν ἐκράτησεν ᾿Ανανίας υἱὸς τοῦ Ρωκεΐμ, καὶ κατέλιπον ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ ἕως τοῦ τείχους τοῦ πλατέος.	And next to him Oziel the son of Arachias of the smiths, carried on the repairs: and next to them Ananias the son of one of the apothecaries repaired, and they finished Jerusalem to the broad wall.

καὶ ἐπὶ χεῖρα αὐτῶν ἐκράτησε Ραφαΐα υἱὸς Σούρ, ἄρχων ἡμίσους περιχώρου ῾Ιερουσαλήμ.	And next to them repaired Raphaea the son of Sur, the ruler of half the district round about Jerusalem.

καὶ ἐπὶ χεῖρα αὐτῶν ἐκράτησεν ᾿Ιεδαΐα υἱὸς ᾿Ερωμὰφ καὶ κατέναντι οἰκίας αὐτοῦ. καὶ ἐπὶ χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐκράτησεν ᾿Αττοὺθ υἱὸς ᾿Ασαβανία.	And next to them repaired Jedaia the son of Eromaph, and that in front of his house: and next to him repaired Attuth son of Asabania.

καὶ δεύτερος ἐκράτησε Μελχίας υἱὸς ᾿Ηρὰμ καὶ ᾿Ασοὺβ υἱὸς Φαὰτ Μωὰβ καὶ ἕως πύργου τῶν θαννουρίμ.	And next to him repaired Melchias son of Heram, and Asub son of Phaat Moab, even to the tower of the furnaces.

καὶ ἐπὶ χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐκράτησε Σαλλοὺμ υἱὸς ᾿Αλλωῆς ἄρχων ἡμίσους περιχώρου ῾Ιερουσαλήμ, αὐτὸς καὶ αἱ θυγατέρες αὐτοῦ.	And next to him repaired Sallum the son of Alloes, the ruler of half the district round about Jerusalem, he and his daughters.

τὴν πύλην τῆς φάραγγος ἐκράτησαν ᾿Ανοὺν καὶ οἱ κατοικοῦντες Ζανώ· αὐτοὶ ᾠκοδόμησαν αὐτὴν καὶ ἔστησαν θύρας αὐτῆς καὶ κλεῖθρα αὐτῆς καὶ μοχλοὺς αὐτῆς καὶ χιλίους πήχεις ἐν τῷ τείχει ἕως τῆς πύλης τῆς κοπρίας.	Anun and the inhabitants of Zano repaired the gate of the valley: they built it, and set up its doors, and its bolts, and its bars, and a thousand cubits of the wall as far as the dung-gate.

καὶ τὴν πύλην τῆς κοπρίας ἐκράτησε Μελχία υἱὸς Ρηχὰβ ἄρχων περιχώρου Βηθακχαρίμ, αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐσκέπασαν αὐτὴν καὶ ἔστησαν θύρας αὐτῆς καὶ κλεῖθρα αὐτῆς καὶ μοχλοὺς αὐτῆς.	And Melchia the son of Rechab, the ruler of the district round about Beth-accharim, repaired the dung-gate, he and his sons; and they covered it, and set up its doors, and its bolts, and its bars.

τὴν δὲ πύλην τῆς πηγῆς ἠσφαλίσατο Σαλωμὼν υἱὸς Χολεζὲ ἄρχων μέρους τῆς Μασφά· αὐτὸς ἐξῳκοδόμησεν αὐτὴν καὶ ἐστέγασεν αὐτὴν καὶ ἔστησε τὰς θύρας αὐτῆς καὶ μοχλοὺς αὐτῆς καὶ τὸ τεῖχος κολυμβήθρας τῶν κωδίων τῇ κουρᾷ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἕως τῶν κλιμάκων τῶν καταβαινουσῶν ἀπὸ πόλεως Δαυίδ.	But Solomon the son of Choleze repaired the gate of the fountain, the ruler of part of Maspha; he built it, and covered it, and set up its doors and its bars, and the wall of the pool of the skins by the meadow of the king, and as far as the steps that lead down from the city of David.

ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ ἐκράτησε Νεεμίας υἱὸς ᾿Αζαβοὺχ ἄρχων ἡμίσους περιχώρου Βηθσοὺρ ἕως κήπου τάφου Δαυὶδ καὶ ἕως τῆς κολυμβήθρας τῆς γεγονυίας καὶ ἕως Βηθαγγαρίμ.	After him repaired Neemias son of Azabuch, ruler of half the district round about Bethsur, as far as the garden of David's sepulchre, and as far as the artificial pool, and as far as the house of the mighty men.

ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ ἐκράτησαν οἱ Λευῖται, Ραοὺμ υἱὸς Βανί. ἐπὶ χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐκράτησεν ᾿Ασαβία ἄρχων ἡμίσους περιχώρου Κεϊλὰ τῷ περιχώρῳ αὐτοῦ.	After him repaired the Levites, even Raum the son of Bani: next to him repaired Asabia, ruler of half the district round about Keila, in his district.

καὶ μετ’ αὐτὸν ἐκράτησαν ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν Βενεΐ υἱὸς ᾿Ηναδὰδ ἄρχων ἡμίσους περιχώρου Κεϊλά.	And after him repaired his brethren, Benei son of Enadad, ruler of half the district round about Keila.

καὶ ἐκράτησαν ἐπὶ χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ᾿Αζοὺρ υἱὸς ᾿Ιησοῦ, ἄρχων τοῦ Μασφαί, μέτρον δεύτερον πύργου ἀναβάσεως τῆς συναπτούσης τῆς γωνίας.	And next to him repaired Azur the son of Joshua, ruler of Masphai, another portion of the tower of ascent, where it meets the corner.

μετ’ αὐτὸν ἐκράτησε Βαροὺχ υἱὸς Ζαβοῦ μέτρον δεύτερον ἀπὸ τῆς γωνίας ἕως θύρας Βηθελιασοὺβ τοῦ ἱερέως τοῦ μεγάλου.	After him repaired Baruch the son of Zabu, a second portion, from the corner as far as the door of the house of Eliasub the high priest.

μετ’ αὐτὸν ἐκράτησε Μεραμὼθ υἱὸς Οὐρία, υἱοῦ ᾿Ακκώς, μέτρον δεύτερον ἀπὸ θύρας Βηθελιασοὺβ ἕως ἐκλείψεως Βηθελιασούβ.	After him repaired Meramoth the son of Uria the son of Accos, a second part from the door of the house of Eliasub, to the end of the house of Eliasub.

καὶ μετ’ αὐτὸν ἐκράτησαν οἱ ἱερεῖς ἄνδρες ᾿Εκχεχάρ.	And after him repaired the priests, the men of Ecchechar.

καὶ μετ’ αὐτὸν ἐκράτησε Βενιαμὶν καὶ ᾿Ασοὺβ κατέναντι οἴκου αὐτῶν. καὶ μετ’ αὐτὸν ἐκράτησεν ᾿Αζαρίας υἱὸς Μαασίου, υἱοῦ ᾿Ανανία ἐχόμενα οἴκου αὐτοῦ.	And after him repaired Benjamin and Asub over against their house: and after him repaired Azarias son of Maasias the son of Ananias, the parts near to his house.

καὶ μετ’ αὐτὸν ἐκράτησε Βανὶ υἱὸς ᾿Αδὰδ μέτρον δεύτερον ἀπὸ Βηθαζαρία ἕως τῆς γωνίας καὶ ἕως τῆς καμπῆς	After him repaired Bani the son of Adad, another portion from the house of Azaria as far as the corner and to the turning,

Φαλὰχ υἱοῦ Εὐζαΐ ἐξεναντίας τῆς γωνίας, καὶ ὁ πύργος ὁ ἐξέχων ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ βασιλέως ὁ ἀνώτερος ὁ τῆς αὐλῆς τῆς φυλακῆς. καὶ μετ’ αὐτὸν Φαδαΐα υἱὸς Φόρος.	of Phalach the son of Uzai, opposite the corner, and where is also the tower that projects from the king's house, even the upper one of the prison-house: and after him repaired Phadaea the son of Phoros.

καὶ οἱ ναθινὶμ ἦσαν οἰκοῦντες ἐν τῷ ᾿Ωφὰλ ἕως κήπου πύλης τοῦ ὕδατος εἰς ἀνατολάς, καὶ ὁ πύργος ὁ ἐξέχων.	And the Nathinim dwelt in Ophal, as far as the garden of the water-gate eastward, and there is the projecting tower.

καὶ μετ’ αὐτὸν ἐκράτησαν οἱ Θεκωΐμ μέτρον δεύτερον ἐξεναντίας τοῦ πύργου τοῦ μεγάλου τοῦ ἐξέχοντος καὶ ἕως τοῦ τείχους τοῦ ᾿Οφλά.	And after them the Thecoim repaired, another portion opposite the great projecting tower, even as far as the wall of Ophla.

ἀνώτερον πύλης τῶν ἵππων ἐκράτησαν οἱ ἱερεῖς, ἀνὴρ ἐξεναντίας οἴκου ἑαυτοῦ.	The priests repaired above the horse-gate, every man over against his own house.

καὶ μετ’ αὐτὸν ἐκράτησε Σαδδοὺκ υἱὸς ᾿Εμμὴρ ἐξεναντίας οἴκου ἑαυτοῦ. καὶ μετ’ αὐτὸν ἐκράτησε Σαμαΐα υἱὸς Σεχενία φύλαξ τῆς πύλης τῆς ἀνατολῆς.	And after him Sadduc the son of Emmer repaired opposite his own house: and after him repaired Samaea son of Sechenia, guard of the east-gate.

μετ’ αὐτὸν ἐκράτησεν ᾿Ανανία υἱὸς Σελεμία καὶ ᾿Ανὼμ υἱὸς Σελέφ, ὁ ἕκτος, μέτρον δεύτερον. μετ’ αὐτὸν ἐκράτησε Μεσουλὰμ υἱὸς Βαραχία ἐξεναντίας γαζοφυλακίου αὐτοῦ.	After him repaired Anania son of Selemia, and Anom, the sixth son of Seleph, another portion: after him Mesulam the son of Barachia repaired over against his treasury.

μετ’ αὐτὸν ἐκράτησε Μελχία υἱὸς τοῦ Σαρεφὶ ἕως Βηθαναθινὶμ καὶ οἱ ροπωπῶλαι ἀπέναντι πύλης τοῦ Μαφεκὰδ καὶ ἕως ἀναβάσεως τῆς καμπῆς.	After him repaired Melchia the son of Sarephi as far as the house of the Nathinim, and the chapmen over against the gate of Maphecad, and as far as the steps of the corner.

καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τῆς πύλης τῆς προβατικῆς ἐκράτησαν οἱ χαλκεῖς καὶ οἱ ροπωπῶλαι.	And between that and the sheep-gate the smiths and chapmen repaired.

Καὶ ἐγένετο ἡνίκα ἤκουσε Σαναβαλλὰτ ὅτι ἡμεῖς οἰκοδομοῦμεν τὸ τεῖχος, καὶ πονηρὸν αὐτῷ ἐφάνη, καὶ ὠργίσθη ἐπὶ πολὺ καὶ ἐξεγέλα ἐπὶ τοῖς ᾿Ιουδαίοις.

καὶ εἶπεν ἐνώπιον τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ· αὕτη ἡ δύναμις Σομόρων, ὅτι οἱ ᾿Ιουδαῖοι οὗτοι οἰκοδομοῦσι τὴν ἑαυτῶν πόλιν; ἆρα θυσιάζουσιν; ἆρα δυνήσονται; καὶ σήμερον ἰάσονται τοὺς λίθους μετὰ τὸ χῶμα γενέσθαι γῆς καυθέντας;

καὶ Τωβίας ὁ ᾿Αμμανίτης ἐχόμενα αὐτοῦ ἦλθε καὶ εἶπε πρὸς αὐτούς· μὴ θυσιάζουσιν ἢ φάγονται ἐπὶ τοῦ τόπου αὐτῶν; οὐχὶ ἀναβήσεται ἀλώπηξ καὶ καθελεῖ τὸ τεῖχος λίθων αὐτῶν;

ΚΑΙ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤκουσε Σαναβαλλὰτ καὶ Τωβία καὶ οἱ ῎Αραβες καὶ οἱ ᾿Αμμανῖται ὅτι ἀνέβη ἡ φυὴ τοῖς τείχεσιν ῾Ιερουσαλήμ, ὅτι ἤρξαντο αἱ διασφαγαὶ ἀναφράσσεσθαι, καὶ πονηρὸν αὐτοῖς ἐφάνη σφόδρα·	Now it came to pass, when Sanaballat heard that we were building the wall, that it was grievous to him, and he was very angry, and railed against the Jews.

καὶ συνήχθησαν πάντες ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ ἐλθεῖν παρατάξασθαι ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ καὶ ποιῆσαι αὐτὴν ἀφανῆ.	And he said before his brethren (that is the army of the Samaritans) Is it true that these Jews are building their city? do they indeed offer sacrifices? will they prevail? and will they this day restore the stones, after they have been burnt and made a heap of rubbish?

καὶ προσηυξάμεθα πρὸς τὸν Θεὸν ἡμῶν καὶ ἐστήσαμεν προφύλακας ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ἡμέρας καὶ νυκτὸς ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν.	And Tobias the Ammanite came near to him, and said to them, Do they sacrifice or eat in their place? shall not a fox go up and pull down their wall of stones?

καὶ εἶπεν ᾿Ιούδας· συνετρίβη ἡ ἰσχὺς τῶν ἐχθρῶν, καὶ ὁ χοῦς πολύς, καὶ ἡμεῖς οὐ δυνησόμεθα οἰκοδομεῖν ἐν τῷ τείχει.	Hear, O our God, for we have become a scorn; and return thou their reproach upon their head, and make them a scorn in a land of captivity,

καὶ εἶπαν οἱ θλίβοντες ἡμᾶς· οὐ γνώσονται καὶ οὐκ ὄψονται ἕως ὅτου ἔλθωμεν εἰς μέσον αὐτῶν καὶ φονεύσωμεν αὐτοὺς καὶ καταπαύσωμεν τὸ ἔργον.	and do not cover their iniquity.

καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤλθοσαν οἱ ᾿Ιουδαῖοι οἱ οἰκοῦντες ἐχόμενα αὐτῶν καὶ εἴποσαν ἡμῖν· ἀναβαίνουσιν ἐκ πάντων τῶν τόπων ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς.

καὶ ἔστησα εἰς τὰ κατώτατα τοῦ τόπου κατόπισθεν τοῦ τείχους ἐν τοῖς σκεπεινοῖς καὶ ἔστησα τὸν λαὸν κατὰ δήμους μετὰ ρομφαιῶν αὐτῶν, λόγχας αὐτῶν καὶ τόξα αὐτῶν.	But it came to pass, when Sanaballat and Tobia, and the Arabians, and the Ammanites, heard that the building of the walls of Jerusalem was advancing, and that the breaches began to be stopped, that it appeared very grievous to them.

καὶ εἶδον καὶ ἀνέστην καὶ εἶπα πρὸς τοὺς ἐντίμους καὶ πρὸς τοὺς στρατηγοὺς καὶ πρὸς τοὺς καταλοίπους τοῦ λαοῦ· μὴ φοβηθῆτε ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν· μνήσθητε τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν τοῦ μεγάλου καὶ φοβεροῦ καὶ παρατάξασθε περὶ τῶν ἀδελφῶν ὑμῶν, υἱῶν ὑμῶν, θυγατέρων ὑμῶν, γυναικῶν ὑμῶν καὶ οἴκων ὑμῶν.	And all of them assembled together, to come to fight against Jerusalem, and to destroy it utterly.

καὶ ἐγένετο ἡνίκα ἥκουσαν οἱ ἐχθροὶ ἡμῶν ὅτι ἐγνώσθη ἡμῖν καὶ διεσκέδασεν ὁ Θεὸς τὴν βουλὴν αὐτῶν, καὶ ἐπεστρέψαμεν πάντες ἡμεῖς εἰς τὸ τεῖχος, ἀνὴρ εἰς τὸ ἔργον αὐτοῦ.	So we prayed to our God and set watchmen against them day and night, because of them.

καὶ ἐγένετο ἀπὸ τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης ἥμισυ τῶν ἐκτετιναγμένων ἐποίουν τὸ ἔργον καὶ ἥμισυ αὐτῶν ἀντείχοντο, καὶ λόγχαι καὶ θυρεοὶ καὶ τόξα καὶ θώρακες καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες ὀπίσω παντὸς οἴκου ᾿Ιούδα	And Juda said, The strength of the enemies is broken, yet there is much rubbish, and we shall not be able to build the wall.

τῶν οἰκοδομούντων ἐν τῷ τείχει, καὶ οἱ αἴροντες ἐν τοῖς ἀρτῆρσιν ἐν ὅπλοις· ἐν μιᾷ χειρὶ ἐποίει αὐτοῦ τὸ ἔργον καὶ ἐν μιᾷ ἐκράτει τὴν βολίδα.	And they that afflicted us said, They shall not know, and they shall not see, until we come into the midst of them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.

καὶ οἱ οἰκοδόμοι ἀνὴρ ρομφαίαν αὐτοῦ ἐζωσμένος ἐπὶ τὴν ὀσφὺν αὐτοῦ καὶ ᾠκοδομοῦσαν καὶ ὁ σαλπίζων ἐν τῇ κερατίνῃ ἐχόμενα αὐτοῦ.	And it came to pass, when the Jews who lived near them came, that they said to us, They are coming up against us from every quarter.

καὶ εἶπα πρὸς τοὺς ἐντίμους καὶ πρὸς τοὺς ἄρχοντας καὶ πρὸς τοὺς καταλοίπους τοῦ λαοῦ· τὸ ἔργον πλατὺ καὶ πολύ, καὶ ἡμεῖς σκορπιζόμεθα ἐπὶ τοῦ τείχους μακρὰν ἀνὴρ ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ.	So I set men in the lowest part of the place behind the wall in the lurking-places, I even set the people according to their families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows.

ἐν τόπῳ, οὗ ἐὰν ἀκούσητε τὴν φωνὴν τῆς κερατίνης, ἐκεῖ συναχθήσεσθε πρὸς ἡμᾶς, καὶ ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν πολεμήσει περὶ ἡμῶν.	And I looked, and arose, and said to the nobles, and to the captains, and to the rest of the people, Be not afraid of them: remember our great and terrible God, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.

καὶ ἡμεῖς ποιοῦντες τὸ ἔργον, καὶ ἥμισυ αὐτῶν κρατοῦντες τὰς λόγχας ἀπὸ ἀναβάσεως τοῦ ὄρθρου ἕως ἐξόδου τῶν ἄστρων.	And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was made known to us, and God had frustrated their counsel, that we all returned to the wall, every man to his work.

καὶ ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ εἶπα τῷ λαῷ· ἕκαστος μετὰ τοῦ νεανίσκου αὐτοῦ αὐλίσθητε ἐν μέσῳ ῾Ιερουσαλήμ, καὶ ἔστω ὑμῖν ἡ νὺξ προφυλακὴ καὶ ἡ ἡμέρα ἔργον.	And it came to pass from that day that half of them that had been driven forth, wrought the work, and half of them kept guard; and there were spears, and shields, and bows, and breast-plates, and rulers behind the whole house of Juda,

καὶ ἤμην ἐγὼ καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες τῆς προφυλακῆς ὀπίσω μου, καὶ οὐκ ἦν ἐξ ἡμῶν ἐκδιδυσκόμενος ἀνὴρ τά ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ.	even of them that were building the wall:—and those who carried the burdens were under arms: each with one hand wrought his work, and with the other held his dart.
Κεφάλαιο 5	Chapter 5

1	1
ΚΑΙ ἡ κραυγὴ τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ γυναικῶν αὐτῶν μεγάλη πρὸς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτῶν τοὺς ᾿Ιουδαίους.	And the cry of the people and their wives was great against their brethren the Jews.

καὶ ἦσάν τινες λέγοντες· ἐν υἱοῖς ἡμῶν καὶ ἐν θυγατράσιν ἡμῶν ἡμεῖς πολλοί· καὶ ληψόμεθα σῖτον καὶ φαγόμεθα καὶ ζησόμεθα.	And some said, We are numerous with our sons and our daughters; so we will take corn, and eat, and live.

καὶ εἰσί τινες λέγοντες· ἀγροὶ ἡμῶν καὶ ἀμπελῶνες ἡμῶν καὶ οἰκίαι ἡμῶν, ἡμεῖς διεγγυῶμεν, καὶ ληψόμεθα σῖτον καὶ φαγόμεθα.	And some said, As to our fields and vineyards and houses, let us pledge them, and we will take corn, and eat.

καὶ εἰσί τινες λέγοντες· ἐδανεισάμεθα ἀργύριον εἰς φόρους τοῦ βασιλέως, ἀγροὶ ἡμῶν καὶ ἀμπελῶνες ἡμῶν καὶ οἰκίαι ἡμῶν·	And some said, We have borrowed money for the king's tributes:—our fields, and our vineyards, and houses are pledged.

καὶ νῦν ὡς σὰρξ ἀδελφῶν ἡμῶν σὰρξ ἡμῶν, ὡς υἱοὶ αὐτῶν υἱοὶ ἡμῶν. καὶ ἰδοὺ ἡμεῖς καταδυναστεύομεν τοὺς υἱοὺς ἡμῶν καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας ἡμῶν εἰς δούλους, καί εἰσιν ἀπὸ θυγατέρων ἡμῶν καταδυναστευόμεναι, καὶ οὐκ ἔστι δύναμις χειρῶν ἡμῶν, καὶ ἀγροὶ ἡμῶν καὶ ἀμπελῶνες ἡμῶν τοῖς ἐντίμοις.	And now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children are as their children: yet, behold, we are reducing our sons and our daughters to slavery, and some of our daughters are enslaved: and there is no power of our hands, for our fields and our vineyards belong to the nobles.

καὶ ἐλυπήθην σφόδρα, καθὼς ἤκουσα τὴν κραυγὴν αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς λόγους τούτους.	And I was much grieved as I heard their cry and these words.

καὶ ἐβουλεύσατο καρδία μου ἐπ’ ἐμέ, καὶ ἐμαχεσάμην πρὸς τοὺς ἐντίμους καὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας καὶ εἶπα αὐτοῖς· ἀπαιτήσει ἀνὴρ τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ, ἃ ὑμεῖς ἀπαιτεῖτε. καὶ ἔδωκα ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ἐκκλησίαν μεγάλην	And my heart took counsel within me, and I contended against the nobles, and the princes, and I said to them, Should every man demand of his brother what ye demand? And I appointed against them a great assembly,

καὶ εἶπα αὐτοῖς· ἡμεῖς κεκτήμεθα τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς ἡμῶν τοὺς ᾿Ιουδαίους τοὺς πωλουμένους τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ἐν ἑκουσίῳ ἡμῶν· καὶ ὑμεῖς πωλεῖτε τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς ὑμῶν καὶ παραδοθήσονται ἡμῖν; καὶ ἡσύχασαν καὶ οὐχ εὕροσαν λόγον.	and I said to them, We of our free-will have redeemed our brethren the Jews that were sold to the Gentiles; and do ye sell your brethren? and shall they be delivered to us? And they were silent, and found no answer.

καὶ εἶπα· οὐκ ἀγαθὸς ὁ λόγος, ὃν ὑμεῖς ποιεῖτε· οὐχ οὕτως ἐν φόβῳ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν ἀπελεύσεσθε ἀπὸ ὀνειδισμοῦ τῶν ἐθνῶν τῶν ἐχθρῶν ἡμῶν.	And I said, The thing which ye do is not good; ye will not so walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the Gentiles our enemies.

καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί μου καὶ οἱ γνωστοί μου καὶ ἐγὼ ἐθήκαμεν ἑαυτοῖς ἀργύριον καὶ σῖτον· ἐγκατελίπομεν δὴ τὴν ἀπαίτησιν ταύτην.	Both my brethren, and my acquaintances, and I, have lent them money and corn: let us now leave off this exaction.

ἐπιστρέψατε δὴ αὐτοῖς ὡς σήμερον ἀγροὺς αὐτῶν καὶ ἀμπελῶνας αὐτῶν καὶ ἐλαιῶνας αὐτῶν καὶ οἰκίας αὐτῶν· καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀργυρίου τὸν σῖτον καὶ τὸν οἶνον καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον ἐξενέγκατε αὐτοῖς.	Restore to them, I pray, as at this day, their fields, and their vineyards, and their olive-yards, and their houses, and bring forth to them corn and wine and oil of the money.

καὶ εἶπαν· ἀποδώσομεν, καὶ παρ’ αὐτῶν οὐ ζητήσομεν, οὕτως ποιήσομεν καθὼς σὺ λέγεις· καὶ ἐκάλεσα τοὺς ἱερεῖς καὶ ὥρκισα αὐτοὺς ποιῆσαι ὡς τὸ ρῆμα τοῦτο.	And they said, We will restore, and we will not exact of them; we will do thus as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and bound them by oath to do according to this word.

καὶ τὴν ἀναβολήν μου ἐξετίναξα καὶ εἶπα· οὕτως ἐκτινάξαι ὁ Θεὸς πάντα ἄνδρα, ὃς οὐ στήσει τὸν λόγον τοῦτον, ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐκ κόπου αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἔσται οὕτως ἐκτετιναγμένος καὶ κενός. καὶ εἶπε πᾶσα ἡ ἐκκλησία· ἀμήν, καὶ ἤνεσαν τὸν Κύριον. καὶ ἐποίησεν ὁ λαὸς τὸ ρῆμα τοῦτο.	And I shook out my garment, and said, So may God shake out every man who shall not keep to this word, from his house, and from his labours, he shall be even thus shaken out, as an outcast and empty. And all the congregation said, Amen, and they praised the Lord: and the people did this thing.

᾿Απὸ τῆς ἡμέρας, ἧς ἐνετείλατό μοι εἶναι εἰς ἄρχοντα αὐτῶν ἐν γῇ ᾿Ιούδα, ἀπὸ ἔτους εἰκοστοῦ καὶ ἕως ἔτους τριακοστοῦ καὶ δευτέρου τῷ ᾿Αρθασασθὰ ἔτη δώδεκα, ἐγὼ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί μου βίαν αὐτῶν οὐκ ἔφαγον.	From the day that he charged me to be their ruler in the land of Juda, from the twentieth year even to the thirty-second year of Arthasastha, twelve years, I and my brethren ate not provision extorted from them.

καὶ τὰς βίας τὰς πρώτας, ἃς πρὸ ἐμοῦ ἐβάρυναν ἐπ’ αὐτούς, καὶ ἐλάβοσαν παρ’ αὐτῶν ἐν ἄρτοις καὶ ἐν οἴνῳ ἔσχατον ἀργύριον, δίδραχμα τεσσαράκοντα, καὶ οἱ ἐκτετιναγμένοι αὐτῶν ἐξουσιάζονται ἐπὶ τὸν λαόν· κἀγὼ οὐκ ἐποίησα οὕτως ἀπὸ προσώπου φόβου Θεοῦ.	But as for the former acts of extortion wherein those who were before me oppressed them, they even took of them their last money, forty didrachms for bread and wine; and the very outcasts of them exercised authority over the people: but I did not so, because of the fear of God.

καὶ ἐν ἔργῳ τοῦ τείχους τούτων οὐκ ἐκράτησα, ἀγρὸν οὐκ ἐκτησάμην, καὶ πάντες οἱ συνηγμένοι ἐκεῖ ἐπὶ τὸ ἔργον.	Also in the work of the wall I treated them not with rigor, I bought not land: and all that were gathered together came thither to the work.
17	17
καὶ οἱ ᾿Ιουδαῖοι, ἑκατὸν καὶ πεντήκοντα ἄνδρες, καὶ ἐρχόμενοι πρὸς ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ τῶν ἐθνῶν τῶν κύκλῳ ἡμῶν ἐπὶ τράπεζάν μου.	And the Jews, to the number of a hundred and fifty men, besides those coming to us from the nations round about, were at my table.
18	18
καὶ ἦν γινόμενον εἰς ἡμέραν μίαν μόσχος εἷς καὶ πρόβατα ἓξ ἐκλεκτὰ καὶ χίμαρος ἐγίνοντό μοι καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον δέκα ἡμερῶν ἐν πᾶσιν οἶνος τῷ πλήθει· καὶ σὺν τούτοις ἄρτους τῆς βίας οὐκ ἐζήτησα, ὅτι βαρεῖα ἡ δουλεία ἐπὶ τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον.	And there came to me for one day one calf, and I had six choice sheep and a goat; and every ten days wine in abundance of all sorts: yet with these I required not the bread of extortion, because the bondage was heavy upon this people.

μνήσθητί μου, ὁ Θεός, εἰς ἀγαθὸν πάντα ὅσα ἐποίησα τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ.	Remember me, O God, for good, in all that I have done to this people.
Κεφάλαιο 6	Chapter 6

1	1
ΚΑΙ ἐγένετο καθὼς ἠκούσθη τῷ Σαναβαλλὰτ καὶ Τωβίᾳ καὶ τῷ Γησὰμ τῷ ᾿Αραβὶ καὶ τοῖς καταλοίποις ἐχθρῶν ἡμῶν ὅτι ᾠκοδόμησα τὸ τεῖχος, καὶ οὐ κατελείφθη ἐν αὐτοῖς πνοή. ἕως τοῦ καιροῦ ἐκείνου θύρας οὐκ ἐπέστησα ἐν ταῖς πύλαις.	Now it came to pass, when Sanaballat, and Tobias, and Gesam the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had built the wall, and that there was no opening left therein; (but hitherto I had not set up the doors on the gates;)

καὶ ἀπέστειλε Σαναβαλλὰτ καὶ Γησὰμ πρός με λέγων· δεῦρο καὶ συναχθῶμεν ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ ἐν ταῖς κώμαις ἐν πεδίῳ ᾿Ωνώ· καὶ αὐτοὶ λογιζόμενοι ποιῆσαί μοι πονηρίαν.	that Sanaballat and Gesam sent to me, saying, Come and let us meet together in the villages in the plain of Ono. But they were plotting to do me mischief.

καὶ ἀπέστειλα ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ἀγγέλους λέγων· ἔργον μέγα ἐγὼ ποιῶ καὶ οὐ δυνήσομαι καταβῆναι, μή ποτε καταπαύσῃ τὸ ἔργον· ὡς ἂν τελειώσω αὐτό, καταβήσομαι πρὸς ὑμᾶς.	So I sent messengers to them, saying, I am doing a great work, and I shall not be able to come down, lest the work should cease: as soon as I shall have finished it, I will come down to you.

καὶ ἀπέστειλαν πρός με ὡς τὸ ρῆμα τοῦτο, καὶ ἀπέστειλα αὐτοῖς κατὰ ταῦτα.	And they sent to me again to this effect; and I sent them word accordingly.

καὶ ἀπέστειλε πρός με Σαναβαλλὰτ τὸν παῖδα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπιστολὴν ἀνεῳγμένην ἐν χειρὶ αὐτοῦ.	Then Sanaballat sent his servant to me with an open letter in his hand.

καὶ ἦν γεγραμμένον ἐν αὐτῇ· «᾿Εν ἔθνεσιν ἠκούσθη ὅτι σὺ καὶ οἱ ᾿Ιουδαῖοι λογίζεσθε ἀποστατῆσαι, διὰ τοῦτο σὺ οἰκοδομεῖς τὸ τεῖχος, καὶ σὺ ἔσῃ αὐτοῖς εἰς βασιλέα·	And in it was written, It has been reported among the Gentiles that thou and the Jews are planning to revolt: therefore thou art building the wall, and thou wilt be a king to them.
7	7
καὶ πρὸς τούτοις προφήτας ἔστησας σεαυτῷ, ἵνα καθίσῃς ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ εἰς βασιλέα ἐπὶ ᾿Ιούδα· καὶ νῦν ἀπαγγελήσονται τῷ βασιλεῖ οἱ λόγοι οὗτοι· καὶ νῦν δεῦρο βουλευσώμεθα ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό.	And moreover thou has appointed prophets to thyself, that thou mightest dwell in Jerusalem as a king over Juda: and now these words will be reported to the king. Now then, come, let us take counsel together.

καὶ ἀπέστειλα πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγων· οὐκ ἐγενήθη ὡς οἱ λόγοι οὗτοι, ὡς σὺ λέγεις, ὅτι ἀπὸ καρδίας σου σὺ ψεύδῃ αὐτούς.	And I sent to him, saying, It has not happened according to these words, even as thou sayest, for thou framest them falsely out of thy heart.
9	9
ὅτι πάντες φοβερίζουσιν ἡμᾶς λέγοντες· ἐκλυθήσονται αἱ χεῖρες αὐτῶν ἀπὸ τοῦ ἔργου τούτου, καὶ οὐ ποιηθήσεται· καὶ νῦν ἐκραταίωσα τὰς χεῖράς μου».	For all were trying to alarm us, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from this work, and it shall not be done. Now therefore I have strengthened my hands.

Κἀγὼ εἰσῆλθον εἰς οἶκον Σεμεΐ υἱοῦ Δαλαΐα, υἱοῦ Μεταβεήλ —καὶ αὐτὸς συνεχόμενος— καὶ εἶπε· συναχθῶμεν εἰς οἶκον τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐν μέσῳ αὐτοῦ καὶ κλείσωμεν τὰς θύρας αὐτοῦ, ὅτι ἔρχονται νυκτὸς φονεῦσαί σε.	And I came into the house of Semei the son of Dalaia the Son of Metabeel, and he was shut up; and he said, Let us assemble together in the house of God, in the midst of it, and let us shut the doors of it; for they are coming by night to slay thee.

καὶ εἶπα· τίς ἐστιν ὁ ἀνήρ, ὃς εἰσελεύσεται εἰς τὸν οἶκον καὶ ζήσεται;	And I said, Who is the man that shall enter into the house, that he may live?
12	12
καὶ ἐπέγνων καὶ ἰδοὺ ὁ Θεὸς οὐκ ἀπέστειλεν αὐτόν, ὅτι ἡ προφητεία λόγος κατ’ ἐμοῦ, καὶ Τωβίας καὶ Σαναβαλλὰτ ἐμισθώσαντο	And I observed, and, behold, God had not sent him, for the prophecy was a fable devised against me:

ἐπ’ ἐμὲ ὄχλον, ὅπως φοβηθῶ καὶ ποιήσω οὕτως καὶ ἁμάρτω καὶ γένωμαι αὐτοῖς εἰς ὄνομα πονηρόν, ὅπως ὀνειδίσωσί με.	and Tobias and Sanaballat had hired against me a multitude, that I might be frightened, and do this, and sin, and become to them an ill name, that they might reproach me.
14	14
μνήσθητι, ὁ Θεός, Τωβία καὶ Σαναβαλλάτ, ὡς τὰ ποιήματα αὐτοῦ ταῦτα, καὶ τῷ Νωαδίᾳ τῷ προφήτῃ καὶ τοῖς καταλοίποις τῶν προφητῶν, οἳ ἦσαν φοβερίζοντές με.	Remember, O God, Tobias and Sanaballat, according to these their deeds, and the prophetess Noadia, and the rest of the prophets who tried to alarm me.
15	15
Καὶ ἐτελέσθη τὸ τεῖχος πέμπτῃ καὶ εἰκάδι τοῦ ᾿Ελοὺλ μηνὸς εἰς πεντήκοντα καὶ δύο ἡμέρας.	So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty-two days.
16	16
καὶ ἐγένετο ἡνίκα ἤκουσαν πάντες οἱ ἐχθροὶ ἡμῶν, καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν πάντα τὰ ἔθνη τὰ κύκλῳ ἡμῶν, καὶ ἐπέπεσε φόβος σφόδρα ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς αὐτῶν, καὶ ἔγνωσαν ὅτι παρὰ τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν ἐγενήθη τελειωθῆναι τὸ ἔργον τοῦτο.	And it came to pass, when all our enemies heard of it, that all the nations round about us feared, and great alarm fell upon them, and they knew that it was of our God that this work should be finished.

καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις ἀπὸ πολλῶν ἐντίμων ᾿Ιούδα ἐπιστολαὶ ἐπορεύοντο πρὸς Τωβίαν, καὶ αἱ Τωβία ἤρχοντο πρὸς αὐτούς,	And in those days letters came to Tobias from many nobles of Juda, and those of Tobias came to them.

ὅτι πολλοὶ ἐν ᾿Ιούδᾳ ἔνορκοι ἦσαν αὐτῷ, ὅτι γαμβρὸς ἦν τοῦ Σεχενία υἱοῦ ῾Ηραέ, καὶ ᾿Ιωνὰν υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἔλαβε τὴν θυγατέρα Μεσουλὰμ υἱοῦ Βαραχία εἰς γυναῖκα.	For many in Juda were bound to him by oath, because he was son-in-law of Sechenias the son of Herae; and Jonan his son had taken the daughter of Mesulam the son of Barachia to wife.

καὶ τοὺς λόγους αὐτοῦ ἦσαν λέγοντες πρός με καὶ λόγους μου ἦσαν ἐκφέροντες αὐτῷ, καὶ ἐπιστολὰς ἀπέστειλε Τωβίας φοβερίσαι με.	And they reported his words to me, and carried out my words to him: and Tobias sent letters to terrify me.
Κεφάλαιο 7	Chapter 7

1	1
ΚΑΙ ἐγένετο ἡνίκα ᾠκοδομήθη τὸ τεῖχος, καὶ ἔστησα τάς θύρας, καὶ ἐπεσκέπησαν οἱ πυλωροὶ καὶ οἱ ἄδοντες καὶ οἱ Λευῖται.	And it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,

καὶ ἐνετειλάμην τῷ ᾿Ανανίᾳ ἀδελφῷ μου καὶ τῷ ᾿Ανανίᾳ ἄρχοντι τῆς βιρὰ ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλήμ, ὅτι αὐτὸς ὡς ἀνὴρ ἀληθὴς καὶ φοβούμενος τὸν Θεὸν παρὰ πολλούς,	that I gave charge to Ananias my brother, and Ananias the ruler of the palace, over Jerusalem: for he was a true man, and one that feared God beyond many.

καὶ εἶπα αὐτοῖς· οὐκ ἀνοιγήσονται πύλαι ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ ἕως ἅμα τῷ ἡλίῳ, καὶ ἔτι αὐτῶν γρηγορούντων κλειέσθωσαν αἱ θύραι καὶ σφηνούσθωσαν· καὶ στῆσον προφύλακας οἰκούντων ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλήμ, ἀνὴρ ἐν προφυλακῇ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀνὴρ ἀπέναντι οἰκίας αὐτοῦ.	And I said to them, The gates of Jerusalem shall not be opened till sunrise; and while they are still watching, let the doors be shut, and bolted; and set watches of them that dwell in Jerusalem, every man at his post, and every man over against his house.

Καὶ ἡ πόλις πλατεῖα καὶ μεγάλη, καὶ ὁ λαὸς ὀλίγος ἐν αὐτῇ, καὶ οὐκ ἦσαν οἰκίαι ᾠκοδομημέναι.	Now the city was wide and large; and the people were few in it, and the houses were not built.

καὶ ἔδωκεν ὁ Θεὸς εἰς τὴν καρδίαν μου καὶ συνῆξα τοὺς ἐντίμους καὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας καὶ τὸν λαὸν εἰς συνοδίας· καὶ εὗρον βιβλίον τῆς συνοδίας, οἳ ἀνέβησαν ἐν πρώτοις, καὶ εὗρον γεγραμμένον ἐν αὐτῷ.	And God put it into my heart, and I gathered the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, into companies: and I found a register of the company that came up first, and I found written in it as follows:

καὶ οὗτοι υἱοὶ τῆς χώρας οἱ ἀναβάντες ἀπὸ αἰχμαλωσίας τῆς ἀποικίας, ἧς ἀπῴκισε Ναβουχοδονόσορ ὁ βασιλεὺς Βαβυλῶνος καὶ ἐπέστρεψαν εἰς ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ καὶ εἰς ᾿Ιούδα ἀνὴρ εἰς τὴν πόλιν αὐτοῦ	Now these are the children of the country, that came up from captivity, of the number which Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon carried away, and they returned to Jerusalem and to Juda, every man to his city;

μετὰ Ζοροβάβελ καὶ ᾿Ιησοῦ καὶ Νεεμία ᾿Αζαρία καὶ Ρεελμὰ Ναεμανί, Μαρδοχαῖος, Βαλσάν, Μασφαράθ, ῎Εσδρα, Βογουΐα, ᾿Ιναούμ, Βαανά, Μασφάρ, ἄνδρες λαοῦ ᾿Ισραήλ·	with Zorobabel, and Jesus, and Neemia, Azaria, and Reelma, Naemani, Mardochaeus, Balsan, Maspharath, Esdra, Boguia, Inaum, Baana, Masphar, men of the people of Israel.

καὶ οὗτοι ἀνέβησαν ἀπὸ Θελμελέθ, Θελαρησά, Χαρούβ, ᾿Ηρών, ᾿Ιεμὴρ καὶ οὐκ ἐδυνάσθησαν ἀπαγγεῖλαι οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν καὶ σπέρμα αὐτῶν εἰ ἀπὸ ᾿Ισραήλ εἰσιν·	And these went up from Thelmeleth, Thelaresa, Charub, Eron, Jemer: but they could not declare the houses of their families, or their seed, whether they were of Israel.

καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ἱερέων υἱοὶ ᾿Εβία, υἱοὶ ᾿Ακώς, υἱοὶ Βερζελλί, ὅτι ἔλαβον ἀπὸ θυγατέρων Βερζελλὶ τοῦ Γαλααδίτου γυναῖκας καὶ ἐκλήθησαν ἐπ’ ὀνόματι αὐτῶν·	And of the priests; the children of Ebia, the children of Acos, the children of Berzelli, for they took wives of the daughters of Berzelli the Galaadite, and they were called by their name.

οὗτοι ἐζήτησαν γραφὴν αὐτῶν τῆς συνοδίας, καὶ οὐχ εὑρέθη, καὶ ἠγχιστεύθησαν ἀπὸ τῆς ἱερατείας,	These sought the pedigree of their company, and it was not found, and they were removed as polluted from the priesthood.

καὶ εἶπεν ᾿Αθερσασθά, ἵνα μὴ φάγωσιν ἀπὸ τοῦ ἁγίου τῶν ἁγίων, ἕως ἀναστῇ ἱερεὺς φωτίσων.	And the Athersastha said, that they should not eat of the most holy things, until a priest should stand up to give light.

καὶ ἐγένετο πᾶσα ἡ ἐκκλησία ὡσεὶ τέσσαρες μυριάδες δισχίλιοι τριακόσιοι ἑξήκοντα,	And all the congregation was about forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty,

πάρεξ δούλων αὐτῶν καὶ παιδισκῶν αὐτῶν, οὗτοι ἑπτακισχίλιοι τριακόσιοι τριακονταεπτά· καὶ ᾄδοντες καὶ ᾄδουσαι διακόσιοι τεσσαρακονταπέντε·	besides their men-servants and their maid-servants: these were seven thousand three hundred and thirty seven: and the singing-men and singing-women, two hundred and forty-five.

ὄνοι δισχίλιοι ἑπτακόσιοι.	Two thousand seven hundred asses.

καὶ ἀπὸ μέρους ἀρχηγῶν τῶν πατριῶν ἔδωκαν εἰς τὸ ἔργον τῷ Νεεμίᾳ εἰς θησαυρὸν χρυσοῦς χιλίους, φιάλας πεντήκοντα καὶ χωθωνὼθ τῶν ἱερέων τριάκοντα.	And part of the heads of families gave into the treasury to Neemias for the work a thousand pieces of gold, fifty bowls, and thirty priests' garments.

καὶ ἀπὸ ἀρχηγῶν τῶν πατριῶν ἔδωκαν εἰς θησαυροὺς τοῦ ἔργου χρυσοῦ νομίσματος δύο μυριάδας καὶ ἀργυρίου μνᾶς δισχιλίας τριακοσίας, καὶ ἔδωκαν οἱ κατάλοιποι τοῦ λαοῦ χρυσίου δύο μυριάδας καὶ ἀργυρίου μνᾶς δισχιλίας διακοσίας καὶ χωθωνὼθ τῶν ἱερέων ἑξηκονταεπτά.	And some of the heads of families gave into the treasuries of the work, twenty thousand pieces of gold, and two thousand three hundred pounds of silver.

καί ἐκάθισαν οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ Λευῖται καὶ οἱ πυλωροὶ καὶ οἱ ᾄδοντες καὶ οἱ ἀπὸ τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ οἱ ναθινὶμ καὶ πᾶς ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐν πόλεσιν αὐτῶν.	And the rest of the people gave twenty thousand pieces of gold, and two thousand two hundred pounds of silver, and sixty-seven priests' garments.
Κεφάλαιο 8	Chapter 8

1	1
ΚΑΙ ἔφθασεν ὁ μὴν ὁ ἕβδομος —καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐν πόλεσιν αὐτῶν— καὶ συνήχθησαν πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ὡς ἀνὴρ εἷς εἰς τὸ πλάτος τὸ ἔμπροσθεν πύλης τοῦ ὕδατος. καὶ εἶπαν τῷ ῎Εσδρᾳ τῷ γραμματεῖ ἐνέγκαι τὸ βιβλίον νόμου Μωυσῆ, ὃν ἐνετείλατο Κύριος τῷ ᾿Ισραήλ.	And the seventh month arrived, and the children of Israel were settled in their cities; and all the people were gathered as one man to the broad place before the water-gate, and they told Esdras the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the Lord commanded Israel.

καὶ ἤνεγκεν ῎Εσδρας ὁ ἱερεὺς τὸν νόμον ἐνώπιον τῆς ἐκκλησίας ἀπὸ ἀνδρὸς ἕως γυναικὸς καὶ πᾶς ὁ συνίων ἀκούειν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ μιᾷ τοῦ μηνὸς τοῦ ἑβδόμου	So Esdras the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and every one who had understanding was present to hearken, on the first day of the seventh month.

καὶ ἀνέγνω ἐν αὐτῷ ἀπὸ τῆς ὥρας τοῦ διαφωτίσαι τὸν ἥλιον ἕως ἡμίσους τῆς ἡμέρας ἀπέναντι τῶν ἀνδρῶν καὶ τῶν γυναικῶν, καὶ αὐτοὶ συνιέντες, καὶ ὦτα παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ εἰς τὸ βιβλίον τοῦ νόμου.	And he read in it from the time of sun-rise to the middle of the day, before the men and the women; and they understood it, and the ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law.

καὶ ἔστη ῎Εσδρας ὁ γραμματεὺς ἐπὶ βήματος ξυλίνου, καὶ ἔστησαν ἐχόμενα αὐτοῦ Ματταθίας καὶ Σαμαΐας καὶ ᾿Ανανίας καὶ Οὐρίας καὶ Χελκία καὶ Μαασία ἐκ δεξιῶν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐξ ἀριστερῶν Φαδαΐας καὶ Μισαὴλ καὶ Μελχίας καὶ ᾿Ασὼμ καὶ ᾿Ασαβαδμὰ καὶ Ζαχαρίας καὶ Μεσολλάμ.	And Esdras the scribe stood on a wooden stage, and there stood next to him Mattathias, and Samaeas, and Ananias, and Urias, and Chelcia, and Massia, on his right hand; and on his left Phadaeas, and Misael, and Melchias, and Asom, and Asabadma, and Zacharias, and Mesollam.

καὶ ἤνοιξεν ῎Εσδρας τὸ βιβλίον ἐνώπιον παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ, ὅτι αὐτὸς ἦν ἐπάνω τοῦ λαοῦ —καὶ ἐγένετο ἡνίκα ἤνοιξεν αὐτό, ἔστη πᾶς ὁ λαός—	And Esdras opened the book before all the people, for he was above the people; and it came to pass when he had opened it, that all the people stood.
6	6
καὶ ηὐλόγησεν ῎Εσδρας Κύριον τὸν Θεὸν τὸν μέγαν, καὶ ἀπεκρίθη πᾶς ὁ λαὸς καὶ εἶπαν· ἀμήν, ἐπάραντες τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῶν, καὶ ἔκυψαν καὶ προσεκύνησαν τῷ Κυρίῳ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν.	And Esdras blessed the Lord, the great God: and all the people answered, and said, Amen, lifting up their hands: and they bowed down and worshipped the Lord with their face to the ground.
7	7
καὶ ᾿Ιησοῦς καὶ Βαναΐας καὶ Σαραβίας ἦσαν συνετίζοντες τὸν λαὸν εἰς τὸν νόμον· καὶ ὁ λαὸς ἐν τῇ στάσει αὐτοῦ.	And Jesus and Banaias and Sarabias instructed the people in the law, and the people stood in their place.
8	8
καὶ ἀνέγνωσαν ἐν βιβλίῳ νόμου τοῦ Θεοῦ, καὶ ἐδίδασκεν ῎Εσδρας καὶ διέστελλεν ἐν ἐπιστήμῃ Κυρίου, καὶ συνῆκεν ὁ λαὸς ἐν τῇ ἀναγνώσει.	And they read in the book of the law of God, and Esdras taught, and instructed them distinctly in the knowledge of the Lord, and the people understood the law in the reading.
9	9
καὶ εἶπε Νεεμίας καὶ ῎Εσδρας ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ γραμματεὺς καὶ οἱ Λευῖται καὶ οἱ συνετίζοντες τὸν λαὸν καὶ εἶπαν παντὶ τῷ λαῷ· ἡμέρα ἁγία ἐστὶ τῷ Κυρίῳ Θεῷ ἡμῶν, μὴ πενθεῖτε μηδὲ κλαίετε· ὅτι ἔκλαιε πᾶς ὁ λαός, ὡς ἤκουσαν τοὺς λόγους τοῦ νόμου.	And Neemias, and Esdras the priest and scribe, and the Levites, and they that instructed the people, spoke and said to all the people, It is a holy day to the Lord our God; do not mourn, nor weep. For all the people wept when they heard the words of the law.
10	10
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· πορεύεσθε φάγετε λιπάσματα καὶ πίετε γλυκάσματα καὶ ἀποστείλατε μερίδας τοῖς μὴ ἔχουσιν· ὅτι ἁγία ἐστὶν ἡ ἡμέρα τῷ Κυρίῳ ἡμῶν· καὶ μὴ διαπέσητε, ὅτι ἐστὶ Κύριος ἰσχὺς ἡμῶν.	And the governor said to them, Go, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions to them that have nothing; for the day is holy to our Lord: and faint not, for the Lord is our strength.
11	11
καὶ οἱ Λευῖται κατεσιώπων πάντα τὸν λαὸν λέγοντες· σιωπᾶτε, ὅτι ἡμέρα ἁγία, καὶ μὴ καταπίπτετε.	And the Levites caused all the people to be silent, saying, Be silent, for it is a holy day, and despond not.
12	12
καὶ ἀπῆλθε πᾶς ὁ λαὸς φαγεῖν καὶ πιεῖν καὶ ἀποστέλλειν μερίδας καὶ ποιῆσαι εὐφροσύνην μεγάλην, ὅτι συνῆκαν ἐν τοῖς λόγοις οἷς ἐγνώρισεν αὐτοῖς.	So all the people departed to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, for they understood the words which he made known to them.
13	13
Καὶ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ δευτέρᾳ συνήχθησαν οἱ ἄρχοντες τῶν πατριῶν σὺν τῷ παντὶ λαῷ, οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ οἱ Λευῖται πρὸς ῎Εσδραν τὸν γραμματέα ἐπιστῆσαι πρὸς πάντας τοὺς λόγους τοῦ νόμου.	And on the second day the heads of families assembled with all the people, also the priests and Levites, to Esdras the scribe, to attend to all the words of the law.
14	14
καὶ εὕροσαν γεγραμμένον ἐν τῷ νόμῳ, ᾧ ἐνετείλατο Κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ, ὅπως κατοικήσωσιν οἱ υἱοὶ ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐν σκηναῖς ἐν ἑορτῇ ἐν μηνὶ τῷ ἑβδόμῳ,	And they found written in the law which the Lord commanded Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths, in the feast in the seventh month:
15	15
καὶ ὅπως σημάνωσι σάλπιγξιν ἐν πάσαις ταῖς πόλεσιν αὐτῶν καὶ ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλήμ. καὶ εἶπεν ῎Εσδρας· ἐξέλθετε εἰς τὸ ὄρος, καὶ ἐνέγκατε φύλλα ἐλαίας καὶ φύλλα ξύλων κυπαρισσίνων καὶ φύλλα μυρσίνης καὶ φύλλα φοινίκων καὶ φύλλα ξύλου δασέος ποιῆσαι σκηνὰς κατὰ τὸ γεγραμμένον.	and that they should sound with trumpets in all their cities, and in Jerusalem. And Esdras said, Go forth to the mountain, and bring branches of olive, and branches of cypress trees, and branches of myrtle, and branches of palm trees, and branches of every thick tree, to make booths, according to that which was written.
16	16
καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ὁ λαὸς καὶ ἤνεγκαν καὶ ἐποίησαν ἑαυτοῖς σκηνὰς ἀνὴρ ἐπὶ τοῦ δώματος αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν ταῖς αὐλαῖς αὐτῶν καὶ ἐν ταῖς αὐλαῖς οἴκου τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ ἐν πλατείαις τῆς πόλεως καὶ ἕως πύλης ᾿Εφραίμ.	And the people went forth, and brought them, and made booths for themselves, each one upon his roof, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the streets of the city, and as far as the gate of Ephraim.
17	17
καὶ ἐποίησαν πᾶσα ἡ ἐκκλησία, οἱ ἐπιστρέψαντες ἀπὸ τῆς αἰχμαλωσίας, σκηνὰς καὶ ἐκάθισαν ἐν σκηναῖς· ὅτι οὐκ ἐποίησαν ἀπὸ ἡμερῶν ᾿Ιησοῦ υἱοῦ Ναυῆ οὕτως οἱ υἱοὶ ᾿Ισραὴλ ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης· καὶ ἐγένετο εὐφροσύνη μεγάλη.	And all the congregation who had returned from the captivity, made booths, and dwelt in booths: for the children of Israel had not done so from the days of Jesus the son of Naue until that day: and there was great joy.

καὶ ἀνέγνω ἐν βιβλίῳ νόμου τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμέραν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ἀπὸ τῆς ἡμέρας τῆς πρώτης ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας τῆς ἐσχάτης· καὶ ἐποίησαν ἑορτὴν ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας, καὶ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ὀγδόῃ ἐξόδιον κατὰ τὸ κρίμα.	And Esdras read in the book of the law of God daily, from the first day even to the last day: and they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day a solemn assembly, according to the ordinance.
Κεφάλαιο 9	Chapter 9

1	1
ΚΑΙ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ εἰκοστῇ καὶ τετάρτῃ τοῦ μηνὸς τούτου συνήχθησαν οἱ υἱοὶ ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐν νηστείᾳ καὶ ἐν σάκκοις καὶ σποδῷ ἐπὶ κεφαλῆς αὐτῶν.	Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the children of Israel assembled with fasting, and in sackcloths, and with ashes on their head.
2	2
καὶ ἐχωρίσθησαν οἱ υἱοὶ ᾿Ισραὴλ ἀπὸ παντὸς υἱοῦ ἀλλοτρίου καὶ ἔστησαν καὶ ἐξηγόρευσαν τὰς ἁμαρτίας αὐτῶν καὶ τὰς ἀνομίας τῶν πατέρων αὐτῶν.	And the children of Israel separated themselves from every stranger, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.

καὶ ἔστησαν ἐπὶ τῇ στάσει αὐτῶν καὶ ἀνέγνωσαν ἐν βιβλίῳ νόμου Κυρίου Θεοῦ αὐτῶν καὶ ἦσαν ἐξαγορεύοντες τῷ Κυρίῳ καὶ προσκυνοῦντες τῷ Κυρίῳ Θεῷ αὐτῶν.	And they stood in their place, and read in the book of the law of the Lord their god: and they confessed their sins to the Lord, and worshipped the Lord their God.
4	4
καὶ ἔστη ἐπὶ ἀναβάσει τῶν Λευιτῶν ᾿Ιησοῦς καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Καδμιήλ, Σεχενία υἱὸς Σαραβία, υἱοὶ Χωνενὶ καὶ ἐβόησαν φωνῇ μεγάλῃ πρὸς Κύριον τὸν Θεὸν αὐτῶν.	And there stood upon the stairs, of the Levites, Jesus, and the sons of Cadmiel, Sechenia the son of Sarabia, sons of Choneni; and they cried with a loud voice to the Lord their God.
5	5
καὶ εἴποσαν οἱ Λευῖται ᾿Ιησοῦς καὶ Καδμιήλ· ἀνάστητε, εὐλογεῖτε Κύριον τὸν Θεὸν ἡμῶν ἀπὸ τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ ἕως τοῦ αἰῶνος· καὶ εὐλογήσουσιν ὄνομα δόξης σου καὶ ὑψώσουσιν ἐπὶ πάσῃ εὐλογίᾳ καὶ αἰνέσει.	And the Levites, Jesus and Cadmiel, said, Rise up, bless the Lord our God forever and ever: and let them bless thy glorious name, and exalt it with all blessing and praise.

καὶ εἶπεν ῎Εσδρας· σὺ εἶ αὐτὸς Κύριος μόνος, σὺ ἐποίησας τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὸν οὐρανὸν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν στάσιν αὐτῶν, τὴν γῆν καὶ πάντα, ὅσα ἐστὶν ἐν αὐτῇ, τὰς θαλάσσας καὶ πάντα τὰ ἐν αὐταῖς, καὶ σὺ ζωοποιεῖς τὰ πάντα, καὶ σοὶ προσκυνοῦσιν αἱ στρατιαὶ τῶν οὐρανῶν.	And Esdras said, Thou art the only true Lord; thou madest the heaven, and the heaven of heavens, and all their array, the earth, and all things that are in it, the seas, and all things in them; and thou quickenest all things, and the hosts of heaven worship thee.

σὺ εἶ Κύριος ὁ Θεός· σὺ ἐξελέξω ἐν ῞Αβραμ καὶ ἐξήγαγες αὐτὸν ἐκ τῆς χώρας τῶν Χαλδαίων καὶ ἐπέθηκας αὐτῷ ὄνομα ῾Αβραάμ·	Thou art the Lord God, thou didst choose Abram, and broughtest him out of the land of the Chaldeans, and gavest him the name of Abraam:

καὶ εὗρες τὴν καρδίαν αὐτοῦ πιστὴν ἐνώπιόν σου καὶ διέθου πρὸς αὐτὸν διαθήκην δοῦναι αὐτῷ τὴν γῆν τῶν Χαναναίων καὶ Χετταίων καὶ ᾿Αμορραίων καὶ Φερεζαίων καὶ ᾿Ιεβουσαίων καὶ Γεργεσαίων καὶ τῷ σπέρματι αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἔστησας τοὺς λόγους σου, ὅτι δίκαιος σύ.	and thou foundest his heart faithful before thee, and didst make a covenant with him to give to him and to his seed the land of the Chananites, and the Chettites, and Amorites, and Pherezites, and Jebusites, and Gergesites; and thou hast confirmed thy words, for thou art righteous.
9	9
καὶ εἶδες τὴν ταπείνωσιν τῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ καὶ τὴν κραυγὴν αὐτῶν ἤκουσας ἐπὶ θάλασσαν ἐρυθράν.	And thou sawest the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and thou heardest their cry at the Red Sea.

καὶ ἔδωκας σημεῖα καὶ τέρατα ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ ἐν Φαραὼ καὶ ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν παντὶ τῷ λαῷ τῆς γῆς αὐτοῦ, ὅτι ἔγνως ὅτι ὑπερηφάνησαν ἐπ’ αὐτούς, καὶ ἐποίησας σεαυτῷ ὄνομα ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη.	And thou shewedst signs and wonders in Egypt, on Pharao and all his servants, and on all the people of his land: for thou knowest that they behaved insolently against them: and thou madest thyself a name, as at this day.

καὶ τὴν θάλασσαν ἔρρηξας ἐνώπιον αὐτῶν, καὶ παρήλθοσαν ἐν μέσῳ τῆς θαλάσσης ἐν ξηρασίᾳ, καὶ τοὺς καταδιώξοντας αὐτοὺς ἔρριψας εἰς βυθὸν ὡσεὶ λίθον ἐν ὕδατι σφοδρῷ.	And thou didst cleave the sea before them, and they passed through the midst of the sea on dry land; and thou didst cast into the deep them that were about to pursue them, as a stone in the mighty water.

καὶ ἐν στύλῳ νεφέλης ὡδήγησας αὐτοὺς ἡμέρας καὶ ἐν στύλῳ πυρὸς τὴν νύκτα τοῦ φωτίσαι αὐτοῖς τὴν ὁδόν, ἐν ᾗ πορεύσονται ἐν αὐτῇ.	And thou guidedst them by day by a pillar of cloud, and by night by a pillar of fire, to enlighten for them the way wherein they should walk.

καὶ ἐπὶ ὄρος Σινὰ κατέβης καὶ ἐλάλησας πρὸς αὐτοὺς ἐξ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἔδωκας αὐτοῖς κρίματα εὐθέα καὶ νόμους ἀληθείας, προστάγματα καὶ ἐντολὰς ἀγαθάς·	Also thou camest down upon mount Sina, and thou spakest to them out of heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and laws of truth, ordinances, and good commandments.

καὶ τὸ σάββατόν σου τὸ ἅγιον ἐγνώρισας αὐτοῖς, ἐντολὰς καὶ προστάγματα καὶ νόμον ἐνετείλω αὐτοῖς ἐν χειρὶ Μωυσῆ δούλου σου.	And thou didst make known to them thy holy sabbath; thou didst enjoin upon them commandments, and ordinances, and a law, by the hand of thy servant Moses.
15	15
καὶ ἄρτον ἐξ οὐρανοῦ ἔδωκας αὐτοῖς εἰς σιτοδοτίαν αὐτῶν καὶ ὕδωρ ἐκ πέτρας ἐξήνεγκας αὐτοῖς εἰς δίψαν αὐτῶν. καὶ εἶπας αὐτοῖς εἰσελθεῖν κληρονομῆσαι τὴν γῆν, ἐφ’ ἣν ἐξέτεινας τὴν χεῖρά σου δοῦναι αὐτοῖς.	And thou gavest them bread from heaven for their food, and thou broughtest them forth water from a rock for their thirst; and thou badest them go in to inherit the land over which thou stretchedst out thy hand to give it them.

καὶ αὐτοὶ καὶ οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν ὑπερηφανεύσαντο καὶ ἐσκλήρυναν τὸν τράχηλον αὐτῶν καὶ οὐκ ἤκουσαν τῶν ἐντολῶν σου·	But they and our fathers behaved proudly, and hardened their neck, and did not hearken to thy commandments,
17	17
καὶ ἀνένευσαν τοῦ εἰσακοῦσαι καὶ οὐκ ἐμνήσθησαν τῶν θαυμασίων σου, ὧν ἐποίησας μετ’ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐσκλήρυναν τὸν τράχηλον αὐτῶν καὶ ἔδωκαν ἀρχὴν ἐπιστρέψαι εἰς δουλείαν αὐτῶν ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ. καὶ σὺ ὁ Θεὸς ἐλεήμων καὶ οἰκτίρμων, μακρόθυμος καὶ πολυέλεος, καὶ οὐκ ἐγκατέλιπες αὐτούς.	and refused to listen, and remembered not thy wonders which thou wroughtest with them; and they hardened their neck, and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt: but thou, O God, art merciful and compassionate, long-suffering, and abundant in mercy, and thou didst not forsake them.

ἔτι δὲ καὶ ἐποίησαν ἑαυτοῖς μόσχον χωνευτὸν καὶ εἶπαν· οὗτοι οἱ θεοὶ οἱ ἐξαγαγόντες ἡμᾶς ἐξ Αἰγύπτου· καὶ ἐποίησαν παροργισμοὺς μεγάλους.	And still farther they even made to themselves a molten calf, and said, These are the gods that brought us up out of Egypt: and they wrought great provocations.
19	19
καὶ σὺ ἐν οἰκτιρμοῖς σου τοῖς πολλοῖς οὐκ ἐγκατέλιπες αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, τὸν στύλον τῆς νεφέλης οὐκ ἐξέκλινας ἀπ’ αὐτῶν ἡμέρας ὁδηγῆσαι αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ καὶ τὸν στύλον τοῦ πυρὸς τὴν νύκτα, φωτίζειν αὐτοῖς τὴν ὁδόν, ἐν ᾗ πορεύσονται ἐν αὐτῇ.	Yet thou in thy great compassions didst not forsake them in the wilderness: thou didst not turn away from them the pillar of the cloud by day, to guide them in the way, nor the pillar of fire by night, to enlighten for them the way wherein they should walk.
20	20
καὶ τὸ πνεῦμά σου τὸ ἀγαθὸν ἔδωκας συνετίσαι αὐτοὺς καὶ τὸ μάννα σου οὐκ ἀφυστέρησας ἀπὸ στόματος αὐτῶν καὶ ὕδωρ ἔδωκας αὐτοῖς ἐν τῷ δίψει αὐτῶν.	And thou gavest thy good Spirit to instruct them, and thou didst not withhold thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water in their thirst.
21	21
καὶ τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη διέθρεψας αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, οὐχ ὑστέρησας αὐτοῖς οὐδέν· ἱμάτια αὐτῶν οὐκ ἐπαλαιώθησαν, καὶ πόδες αὐτῶν οὐ διερράγησαν.	And thou didst sustain them forty years in the wilderness; thou didst not allow anything to fail them: their garments did not wax old, and their feet were not bruised.
22	22
καὶ ἔδωκας αὐτοῖς βασιλείας καὶ λαοὺς ἐμέρισας αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἐκληρονόμησαν τὴν γῆν Σηὼν βασιλέως ᾿Εσεβὼν καὶ τὴν γῆν ῍Ωγ βασιλέως τοῦ Βασάν.	Moreover, thou gavest them kingdoms, and didst divide nations to them: and they inherited the land of Seon king of Esebon, and the land of Og king of Basan.
23	23
καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτῶν ἐπλήθυνας ὡς τοὺς ἀστέρας τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ εἰσήγαγες αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἣν εἶπας τοῖς πατράσιν αὐτῶν, καὶ ἐκληρονόμησαν αὐτήν.	And thou didst multiply their children as the stars of heaven, and broughtest them into the land of which thou spokest to their fathers;
24	24
καὶ ἐξέτριψας ἐνώπιον αὐτῶν τοὺς κατοικοῦντας τὴν γῆν τῶν Χαναναίων καὶ ἔδωκας αὐτοὺς εἰς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς βασιλεῖς αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς λαοὺς τῆς γῆς ποιῆσαι αὐτοῖς ὡς ἀρεστὸν ἐνώπιον αὐτῶν.	And they inherited it: and thou didst destroy from before them the dwellers in the land of the Chananites, and thou gavest into their hands them and their kings, and the nations of the land, to do unto them as it pleased them.

καὶ κατελάβοσαν πόλεις ὑψηλὰς καὶ ἐκληρονόμησαν οἰκίας πλήρεις πάντων ἀγαθῶν, λάκκους λελατομημένους, ἀμπελῶνας καὶ ἐλαιῶνας καὶ πᾶν ξύλον βρώσιμον εἰς πλῆθος· καὶ ἐφάγοσαν καὶ ἐνεπλήσθησαν καὶ ἐλιπάνθησαν καὶ ἐτρύφησαν ἐν ἀγαθωσύνῃ σου τῇ μεγάλῃ.	And they took lofty cities, and inherited houses full of all good things, wells dug, vineyards, and oliveyards, and every fruit tree in abundance: so they ate, and were filled, and grew fat, and rioted in thy great goodness.
26	26
καὶ ἤλλαξαν καὶ ἀπέστησαν ἀπὸ σοῦ καὶ ἔρριψαν τὸν νόμον σου ὀπίσω σώματος αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς προφήτας σου ἀπέκτειναν, οἳ διεμαρτύραντο ἐν αὐτοῖς ἐπιστρέψαι αὐτοὺς πρός σε, καὶ ἐποίησαν παροργισμοὺς μεγάλους.	But they turned, and revolted from thee, and cast thy law behind their backs; and they slew thy prophets, who testified against them to turn them back to thee, and they wrought great provocations.

καὶ ἔδωκας αὐτοὺς ἐν χειρὶ θλιβόντων αὐτούς, καὶ ἔθλιψαν αὐτούς· καὶ ἀνεβόησαν πρός σε ἐν καιρῷ θλίψεως αὐτῶν, καὶ σὺ ἐξ οὐρανοῦ σου ἤκουσας καὶ ἐν οἰκτιρμοῖς σου τοῖς μεγάλοις ἔδωκας αὐτοῖς σωτῆρας καὶ ἔσωσας αὐτοὺς ἐκ χειρὸς θλιβόντων αὐτούς.	Then thou gavest them into the hand of them that afflicted them, and they did afflict them: and they cried to thee in the time of their affliction, and thou didst hear them from thy heaven, and in thy great compassions gavest them deliverers, and didst save them from the hand of them that afflicted them.

καὶ ὡς ἀνεπαύσαντο, ἐπέστρεψαν ποιῆσαι τὸ πονηρὸν ἐνώπιόν σου· καὶ ἐγκατέλιπες αὐτοὺς εἰς χεῖρας ἐχθρῶν αὐτῶν, καὶ κατῆρξαν ἐν αὐτοῖς· καὶ πάλιν ἀνεβόησαν πρός σε, καὶ σὺ ἐξ οὐρανοῦ εἰσήκουσας καὶ ἐρρύσω αὐτοὺς ἐν οἰκτιρμοῖς σου πολλοῖς.	But when they rested, they did evil again before thee: so thou leftest them in the hands of their enemies, and they ruled over them: and they cried again to thee, and thou heardest them from heaven, and didst deliver them in thy great compassions.
29	29
καὶ ἐπεμαρτύρω αὐτοῖς ἐπιστρέψαι αὐτοὺς εἰς τὸν νόμον σου, καὶ οὐκ ἤκουσαν, ἀλλ’ ἐν ταῖς ἐντολαῖς σου καὶ κρίμασί σου ἡμάρτοσαν, ἃ ποιήσας αὐτὰ ἄνθρωπος ζήσεται ἐν αὐτοῖς· καὶ ἔδωκαν νῶτον ἀπειθοῦντα καὶ τράχηλον αὐτῶν ἐσκλήρυναν καὶ οὐκ ἤκουσαν.	And thou didst testify against them, to bring them back to thy law: but they hearkened not, but sinned against thy commandments and thy judgments, which if a man do, he shall live in them; and they turned their back, and hardened their neck, and heard not.
30	30
καὶ εἵλκυσας ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ἔτη πολλὰ καὶ ἐπεμαρτύρω αὐτοῖς ἐν πνεύματί σου ἐν χειρὶ προφητῶν σου· καὶ οὐκ ἠνωτίσαντο, καὶ ἔδωκας αὐτοὺς ἐν χειρὶ λαῶν τῆς γῆς.	Yet thou didst bear long with them many years, and didst testify to them by thy Spirit by the hand of thy prophets: but they hearkened not; so thou gavest them into the hand of the nations of the land.

καὶ σὺ ἐν οἰκτιρμοῖς σου τοῖς πολλοῖς οὐκ ἐποίησας αὐτοὺς συντέλειαν καὶ οὐκ ἐγκατέλιπες αὐτούς, ὅτι ἰσχυρὸς εἶ καὶ ἐλεήμων καὶ οἰκτίρμων.	But thou in thy many mercies didst not appoint them to destruction, and didst not forsake them; for thou art strong, and merciful, and pitiful.
32	32
καὶ νῦν, ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν ὁ ἰσχυρός, ὁ μέγας, ὁ κραταιὸς καὶ ὁ φοβερός, φυλάσσων τὴν διαθήκην σου καὶ τὸ ἔλεός σου, μὴ ὀλιγωθήτω ἐνώπιόν σου πᾶς ὁ μόχθος, ὃς εὗρεν ἡμᾶς καὶ τοὺς βασιλεῖς ἡμῶν καὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας ἡμῶν καὶ τοὺς ἱερεῖς ἡμῶν καὶ τοὺς προφήτας ἡμῶν καὶ τοὺς πατέρας ἡμῶν καὶ ἐν παντὶ τῷ λαῷ σου ἀπὸ ἡμερῶν βασιλέων ᾿Ασσοὺρ καὶ ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης.	And now, O our God, the powerful, the great, the mighty, and the terrible, keeping thy covenant and thy mercy, let not all the trouble seem little in thy sight which has come upon us, and our kings, and our princes, and our priests, and our prophets, and our fathers, and upon all thy people, from the days of the kings of Assur even to this day.

καὶ σὺ δίκαιος ἐπὶ πᾶσι τοῖς ἐρχομένοις ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς, ὅτι ἀλήθειαν ἐποίησας, καὶ ἡμεῖς ἐξημάρτομεν,	But thou art righteous in all the things that come upon us; for thou hast wrought faithfully, but we have greatly sinned.

καὶ οἱ βασιλεῖς ἡμῶν καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες ἡμῶν καὶ οἱ ἱερεῖς ἡμῶν καὶ οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν οὐκ ἐποίησαν τὸν νόμον σου καὶ οὐ προσέσχον τῶν ἐντολῶν σου καὶ τὰ μαρτύριά σου, ἃ διεμαρτύρω αὐτοῖς.	And our kings, and our princes, and our priests, and our fathers, have not performed thy law, and have not given heed to thy commandments, and have not kept thy testimonies which thou didst testify to them.

καὶ αὐτοὶ ἐν βασιλείᾳ σου καὶ ἐν ἀγαθωσύνῃ σου τῇ πολλῇ, ᾗ ἔδωκας αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἐν τῇ γῇ τῇ πλατείᾳ καὶ λιπαρᾷ, ᾗ ἔδωκας ἐνώπιον αὐτῶν, οὐκ ἐδούλευσάν σοι καὶ οὐκ ἀπέστρεψαν ἀπὸ ἐπιτηδευμάτων αὐτῶν τῶν πονηρῶν.	And they did not serve thee in thy kingdom, and in thy great goodness which thou gavest to them, and in the large and fat land which thou didst furnish before them, and they turned not from their evil devices.

ἰδοὺ σήμερόν ἐσμεν δοῦλοι, καὶ ἡ γῆ, ἣν ἔδωκας τοῖς πατράσιν ἡμῶν φαγεῖν τὸν καρπὸν αὐτῆς καὶ τὰ ἀγαθὰ αὐτῆς, ἰδού ἐσμεν δοῦλοι ἐπ’ αὐτῆς,	Behold, we are servants this day, and as for the land which thou gavest to our fathers to eat the fruit of it and the good things of it, behold, we are servants upon it:

καὶ οἱ καρποὶ αὐτῆς πολλοὶ τοῖς βασιλεῦσιν, οἷς ἔδωκας ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς ἐν ἁμαρτίαις ἡμῶν, καὶ ἐπὶ τὰ σώματα ἡμῶν ἐξουσιάζουσι καὶ ἐν κτήνεσιν ἡμῶν ὡς ἀρεστὸν αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἐν θλίψει μεγάλῃ ἐσμέν.	and its produce is abundant for the kings whom thou didst appoint over us because of our sins; and they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, as it pleases them, and we are in great affliction.

καὶ ἐν πᾶσι τούτοις ἡμεῖς διατιθέμεθα πίστιν καὶ γράφομεν, καὶ ἐπισφραγίζουσιν ἄρχοντες ἡμῶν, Λευῖται ἡμῶν, ἱερεῖς ἡμῶν.	And in regard to all these circumstances we make a covenant, and write it, and our princes, our Levites, and our priests, set their seal to it.

ἐνίσχυον ἐπὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτῶν καὶ κατηράσαντο αὐτοὺς καὶ εἰσήλθοσαν ἐν ἀρᾷ καὶ ἐν ὅρκῳ τοῦ πορεύεσθαι ἐν νόμῳ τοῦ Θεοῦ, ὃς ἐδόθη ἐν χειρὶ Μωυσῆ δούλου τοῦ Θεοῦ, φυλάσσεσθαι καὶ ποιεῖν πάσας τὰς ἐντολὰς Κυρίου καὶ τὰ κρίματα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ προστάγματα αὐτοῦ	were urgent with their brethren, and bound them under a curse, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in the law of God, which was given by the hand of Moses, the servant of God; to keep and to do all the commandments of the Lord, and his judgments, and his ordinances;

καὶ τοῦ μὴ δοῦναι θυγατέρας ἡμῶν τοῖς λαοῖς τῆς γῆς, καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτῶν οὐ ληψόμεθα τοῖς υἱοῖς ἡμῶν.	and that we will not, they said,give our daughters to the people of the land, nor will we take their daughters to our sons.
31	31
καὶ λαοὶ τῆς γῆς οἱ φέροντες τοὺς ἀγορασμοὺς καὶ πᾶσαν πρᾶσιν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ σαββάτου ἀποδόσθαι, οὐκ ἀγορῶμεν παρ’ αὐτῶν ἐν σαββάτῳ καὶ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ἁγίᾳ. καὶ ἀνήσομεν τὸ ἔτος τὸ ἕβδομον καὶ ἀπαίτησιν πάσης χειρός.	And as for the people of the land who bring wares and all manner of merchandise to sell on the sabbath-day, we will not buy of them on the sabbath or on the holy day: and we will leave the seventh year, and the exaction of every debt.

καὶ στήσομεν ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς ἐντολὰς δοῦναι ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς τρίτον τοῦ διδράχμου κατ’ ἐνιαυτὸν εἰς δουλείαν οἴκου τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν	And we will impose ordinances upon ourselves, to levy on ourselves the third part of a didrachm yearly for the service of the house of our God;

εἰς ἄρτους τοῦ προσώπου καὶ θυσίαν τοῦ ἐνδελεχισμοῦ καὶ εἰς ὁλοκαύτωμα τοῦ ἐνδελεχισμοῦ τῶν σαββάτων, τῶν νουμηνιῶν, εἰς τὰς ἑορτὰς καὶ εἰς τὰ ἅγια, καὶ τὰ περὶ ἁμαρτίας ἐξιλάσασθαι περὶ ᾿Ισραήλ, καὶ εἰς ἔργα οἴκου τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν.	the shewbread, and the continual meat-offering, and for the continual whole-burnt-offering, of the sabbaths, of the new moon, for the feast, and for the holy things, and the sin-offerings, to make atonement for Israel, and for the works of the house of our God.

καὶ κλήρους ἐβάλομεν περὶ κλήρου ξυλοφορίας, οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ οἱ Λευῖται καὶ ὁ λαός, ἐνέγκαι εἰς οἶκον Θεοῦ ἡμῶν, εἰς οἶκον πατριῶν ἡμῶν, εἰς καιροὺς ἀπὸ χρόνων, ἐνιαυτὸν κατ’ ἐνιαυτόν, ἐκκαῦσαι ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον Κυρίου Θεοῦ ἡμῶν, ὡς γέγραπται ἐν τῷ νόμῳ,	And we cast lots for the office of wood-bearing, we the priests, and the Levites, and the people, to bring wood into the house of our God, according to the house of our families, at certain set times, year by year, to burn on the altar of the Lord our God, as it is written in the law:

καὶ ἐνέγκαι τὰ πρωτογεννήματα τῆς γῆς ἡμῶν καὶ πρωτογεννήματα καρποῦ παντὸς ξύλου ἐνιαυτὸν κατ’ ἐνιαυτὸν εἰς οἶκον Κυρίου	and to bring the first-fruits of our land, and the first-fruits of the fruit of every tree, year by year, into the house of the Lord:

καὶ τὰ πρωτότοκα υἱῶν ἡμῶν καὶ κτηνῶν ἡμῶν, ὡς γέγραπται ἐν τῷ νόμῳ, καὶ τὰ πρωτότοκα τῶν βοῶν ἡμῶν καὶ ποιμνίων ἡμῶν ἐνέγκαι εἰς οἶκον Θεοῦ ἡμῶν τοῖς ἱερεῦσι τοῖς λειτουργοῦσιν ἐν οἴκῳ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν.	the first-born of our sons, and of our cattle, as it is written in the law, and the first-born of our herds and of our flocks, to bring to the house of our God, for the priests that minister in the house of our God.

καὶ τὴν ἀπαρχὴν σίτων ἡμῶν καὶ τὸν καρπὸν παντὸς ξύλου, οἴνου καὶ ἐλαίου οἴσομεν τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν εἰς τὸ γαζοφυλάκιον οἴκου τοῦ Θεοῦ· καὶ δεκάτην γῆς ἡμῶν τοῖς Λευίταις. καὶ αὐτοὶ οἱ Λευῖται δεκατοῦντες ἐν πάσαις πόλεσι δουλείας ἡμῶν·	And the first-fruits of our corn, and the fruit of every tree, of wine, and of oil, will we bring to the priests to the treasury of the house of God; and a tithe of our land to the Levites: for the Levites themselves shall receive tithes in all the cities of the land we cultivate.

καὶ ἔσται ὁ ἱερεὺς υἱὸς ᾿Ααρὼν μετὰ τοῦ Λευίτου ἐν τῇ δεκάτῃ τοῦ Λευίτου, καὶ οἱ Λευῖται ἀνοίσουσι τὴν δεκάτην τῆς δεκάτης εἰς οἶκον Θεοῦ ἡμῶν εἰς τὰ γαζοφυλάκια εἰς οἶκον Θεοῦ·	And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites in the tithe of the Levite: and the Levites shall bring up the tenth part of their tithe to the house of our God, into the treasuries of the house of God.

ὅτι εἰς τοὺς θησαυροὺς εἰσοίσουσιν οἱ υἱοὶ ᾿Ισραὴλ καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ Λευὶ τὰς ἀπαρχὰς τοῦ σίτου καὶ τοῦ οἴνου καὶ τοῦ ἐλαίου, καὶ ἐκεῖ σκεύη τὰ ἅγια, καὶ οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ οἱ λειτουργοὶ καὶ οἱ πυλωροὶ καὶ οἱ ᾄδοντες, καὶ οὐκ ἐγκαταλείψομεν τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν.	For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring into the treasuries the first-fruits of the corn, and wine, and oil; and there are the holy vessels, and the priests, and the ministers, and the porters, and the singers: and we will not forsake the house of our God.
Κεφάλαιο 11	Chapter 11

1	1
ΚΑΙ ἐκάθισαν οἱ ἄρχοντες τοῦ λαοῦ ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλήμ, καὶ οἱ κατάλοιποι τοῦ λαοῦ ἐβάλοσαν κλήρους ἐνέγκαι ἕνα ἀπὸ τῶν δέκα καθίσαι ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ πόλει τῇ ἁγίᾳ καὶ ἐννέα μέρη ἐν ταῖς πόλεσι.	And the chiefs of the people dwelt in Jerusalem: and the rest of the people cast lots, to bring one of every ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts in the other cities.

καὶ εὐλόγησεν ὁ λαὸς τοὺς πάντας ἄνδρας τοὺς ἑκουσιαζομένους καθίσαι ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλήμ·	And the people blessed all the men that volunteered to dwell in Jerusalem.

καὶ οὗτοι οἱ ἄρχοντες τῆς χώρας, οἳ ἐκάθισαν ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ καὶ ἐν πόλεσιν ᾿Ιούδα· ἐκάθισαν ἀνὴρ ἐν κατασχέσει αὐτοῦ, ἐν πόλεσιν αὐτῶν ᾿Ισραήλ, οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ οἱ Λευῖται καὶ οἱ ναθιναῖοι καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ δούλων Σαλωμών·	Now these are the chiefs of the province who dwelt in Jerusalem, and in the cities of Juda; every man dwelt in his possession in their cities: Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nathinim, and the children of the servants of Solomon.

καὶ ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ ἐκάθισαν ἀπὸ υἱῶν ᾿Ιούδα καὶ ἀπὸ υἱῶν Βενιαμίν. ἀπὸ υἱῶν ᾿Ιούδα· ᾿Αθαΐα υἱὸς ᾿Αζία, υἱὸς Ζαχαρία, υἱὸς Σαμαρία, υἱὸς Σαφατία, υἱὸς Μαλελεὴλ καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν Φαρές,	And there dwelt in Jerusalem some of the children of Juda, and of the children of Benjamin. Of the children of Juda; Athaia son of Azia, the son of Zacharia, the son of Samaria, the son of Saphatia, the son of Maleleel, and some of the sons of Phares;

καὶ Μαασία υἱὸς Βαρούχ, υἱὸς Χαλαζά, υἱὸς ᾿Οζία, υἱὸς ᾿Αδαΐα, υἱὸς ᾿Ιωαρίβ, υἱὸς Ζαχαρίου, υἱὸς τοῦ Σηλωνί·	and Maasia son of Baruch, son of Chalaza, son of Ozia, son of Adaia, son of Joarib, son of Zacharias, son of Seloni.

πάντες υἱοὶ Φαρὲς οἱ καθήμενοι ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ τετρακόσιοι ἑξηκονταοκτὼ ἄνδρες δυνάμεως.	All the sons of Phares who dwelt in Jerusalem were four hundred and sixty-eight men of might.

καὶ οὗτοι υἱοὶ Βενιαμίν· Σηλὼ υἱὸς Μεσουλάμ, υἱὸς ᾿Ιωάδ, υἱὸς Φαδαΐα, υἱὸς Κωλεΐα, υἱὸς Μαασίου, υἱὸς ᾿Εθιήλ, υἱὸς ᾿Ιεσία,	And these were the children of Benjamin; Selo son of Mesulam, son of Joad, son of Phadaia, son of Coleia, son of Maasias, son of Ethiel, son of Jesia.

καὶ ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ Γηβέ, Σηλί, ἐννακόσιοι εἰκοσιοκτώ.	And after him Gebe, Seli, nine hundred and twenty-eight.

καὶ ᾿Ιωὴλ υἱὸς Ζεχρὶ ἐπίσκοπος ἐπ’ αὐτούς, καὶ ᾿Ιούδα υἱὸς ᾿Ασανὰ ἀπὸ τῆς πόλεως δεύτερος·	And Joel son of Zechri was overseer over them: and Juda son of Asana was second in the city.

ἀπὸ τῶν ἱερέων· καὶ ᾿Ιαδία υἱὸς ᾿Ιωρίβ, ᾿Ιαχίν,	Of the priests: both Jadia son of Joarib, and Jachin.

Σαραία υἱὸς ᾿Ελχία, υἱὸς Μεσουλάμ, υἱὸς Σαδδούκ, υἱὸς Μαριώθ, υἱὸς Αἰτὼθ ἀπέναντι οἴκου τοῦ Θεοῦ.	Saraia, son of Elchia, son of Mesulam, son of Sadduc, son of Marioth, son of Aetoth, was over the house of God.

καὶ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν ποιοῦντες τὸ ἔργον τοῦ οἴκου ὀκτακόσιοι εἰκοσιδύο. καὶ ᾿Αδαΐα υἱὸς ῾Ιεροάμ, υἱοῦ Φαλαλία, υἱοῦ ᾿Αμασί, υἱὸς Ζαχαρία, υἱὸς Φασσούρ, υἱὸς Μελχία,	And their brethren doing the work of the house were eight hundred and twenty-two: and Adaia son of Jeroam, son of Phalalia, son of Amasi, son of Zacharia, son of Phassur, son of Melchia,

καὶ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ, ἄρχοντες πατριῶν διακόσιοι τεσσαρακονταδύο. καὶ ᾿Αμασία υἱὸς ᾿Εσδριήλ, υἱοῦ Μεσαριμίθ, υἱοῦ ᾿Εμμήρ,	and his brethren, chiefs of families, two hundred and forty-two: and Amasia son of Esdriel, son of Mesarimith, son of Emmer,

καὶ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ δυνατοὶ παρατάξεως ἑκατὸν εἰκοσιοκτώ· καὶ ἐπίσκοπος Βαδιὴλ υἱὸς τῶν μεγάλων.	and his brethren, mighty men of war, a hundred and twenty-eight: and their overseer was Badiel son of one of the great men.

καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν Λευιτῶν Σαμαΐα υἱὸς ᾿Εσρικάμ,	And of the Levites; Samaia, son of Esricam,

Ματθανίας υἰὸς Μιχὰ καὶ ᾿Ιωβὴβ υἱὸς Σαμουΐ,	Matthanias son of Micha, and Jobeb son of Samui,

διακόσιοι ὀγδοηκοντατέσσαρες.	two hundred and eighty-four.

καὶ οἱ πυλωροὶ ᾿Ακούβ, Τελαμίν, καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν, ἑκατὸν ἑβδομηκονταδύο.	And the porters; Acub, Telamin, and their brethren, a hundred and seventy-two.

καὶ ἐπίσκοπος Λευιτῶν υἱὸς Βανί, υἱὸς ᾿Οζί, υἱὸς ᾿Ασαβία, υἱὸς Μιχά. ἀπὸ υἱῶν ᾿Ασὰφ τῶν ἆδόντων ἀπέναντι ἔργου οἴκου τοῦ Θεοῦ·	And the overseer of the Levites was the son of Bani, son of Ozi, son of Asabia, the son of Micha. Of the sons of Asaph the singers some were over the house of God,

ὅτι ἐντολὴ τοῦ βασιλέως εἰς αὐτούς.	For so was the king's commandment concerning them.

καὶ Φαθαΐα υἱὸς Βασηζὰ πρὸς χεῖρα τοῦ βασιλέως εἰς πᾶν χρῆμα τῷ λαῷ.	And Phathaia son of Baseza was in attendance on the king in every matter for the people,

καὶ πρὸς τὰς ἐπαύλεις ἐν ἀγρῷ αὐτῶν. καὶ ἀπὸ υἱῶν ᾿Ιούδα ἐκάθισαν ἐν Καριαθαρβὸκ	and with regard to villages in their country district: and some of the children of Juda dwelt in Cariatharboc,

καὶ ἐν ᾿Ιησοῦ	and in Jesu,

καὶ ἐν Βηρσαβεέ, καὶ ἐπαύλεις αὐτῶν,	and in Bersabee:

Λαχὶς καὶ ἀγροὶ αὐτῆς· καὶ παρενεβάλοσαν ἐν Βηρσαβεέ.	And their villages were Lachis and her hands: and they pitched their tents in Bersabee.

καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Βενιαμὶν ἀπὸ Γαβαὰ Μαχμάς.	And the children of Benjamin dwelt from Gabaa to Machmas.

καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν Λευιτῶν μερίδες ᾿Ιούδα τῷ Βενιαμίν.	And of the Levites there were divisions to Juda and to Benjamin.

ΚΑΙ οὗτοι οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ οἱ Λευῖται οἱ ἀναβάντες μετὰ Ζοροβάβελ υἱοῦ Σαλαθιὴλ καὶ ᾿Ιησοῦ· Σαραΐα, ῾Ιερεμία, ῎Εσδρα,	Now these are the priests and the Levites that went up with Zorobabel the son of Salathiel and Jesus: Saraia, Jeremia, Esdra,

Σεχενία·	Sechenia.

οὗτοι οἱ ἄρχοντες τῶν ἱερέων καὶ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν ἐν ἡμέραις ᾿Ιησοῦ.	These were the chiefs of the priests, and their brethren in the days of Jesus.

καὶ οἱ Λευῖται, ᾿Ιησοῦ, Βανουΐ, Καδμιήλ, Σαραβία, ᾿Ιωδαέ, Ματθανία, ἐπὶ τῶν χειρῶν αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν εἰς τὰς ἐφημερίας.	And the Levites were, Jesus, Banui, Cadmiel, Sarabia, Jodae, Matthania: he was over the bands,

καὶ ᾿Ιησοῦς ἐγέννησε τὸν ᾿Ιωακίμ, καὶ ᾿Ιωακὶμ ἐγέννησε τὸν ᾿Ελιασίβ, καὶ ᾿Ελιασὶβ τὸν ᾿Ιωδαέ,	And Jesus begot Joakim, and Joakim begot Eliasib, and Eliasib begot Jodae,

καὶ ᾿Ιωδαὲ ἐγέννησε τὸν ᾿Ιωνάθαν, καὶ ᾿Ιωνάθαν ἐγέννησε τὸν ᾿Ιαδού.	and Jodae begot Jonathan, and Jonathan begot Jadu.

καὶ ἐν ἡμέραις ᾿Ιωακὶμ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες τῶν πατριῶν· τῷ Σαραΐα ᾿Αμαρία, τῷ ῾Ιερεμίᾳ ᾿Ανανία,	And in the days of Joakim, his brethren the priests and the heads of families were, belonging to Saraia, Amaria; to Jeremia, Anania;

οἱ Λευῖται ἐν ἡμέραις ᾿Ελιασίβ, ᾿Ιωαδὰ καὶ ᾿Ιωὰ καὶ ᾿Ιωανὰν καὶ ᾿Ιδούα, γεγραμμένοι ἄρχοντες τῶν πατριῶν, καὶ οἱ ἱερεῖς ἐν βασιλείᾳ Δαρείου τοῦ Πέρσου·	The Levites in the days of Eliasib, Joada, and Joa, and Joanan, and Idua, were recorded heads of families: also the priests, in the reign of Darius the Persian.

υἱοὶ δὲ Λευὶ ἄρχοντες τῶν πατριῶν γεγραμμένοι ἐπὶ βιβλίῳ λόγων τῶν ἡμερῶν καὶ ἕως ἡμερῶν ᾿Ιωανὰν υἱοῦ ᾿Ελισουέ.	And the sons of Levi, heads of families, were written in the book of the chronicles, even to the days of Joanan son of Elisue.

καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες τῶν Λευιτῶν ᾿Ασαβία καὶ Σαραβία καὶ ᾿Ιησοῦ καὶ υἱοὶ Καδμιὴλ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν κατεναντίον αὐτῶν εἰς ὕμνον αἰνεῖν ἐν ἐντολῇ Δαυὶδ ἀνθρώπου τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐφημερία πρὸς ἐφημερίαν	And the heads of the Levites were Asabia, and Sarabia, and Jesu: and the sons of Cadmiel, and their brethren over against them, were to sing hymns of praise, according to the commandment of David the man of God, course by course.

ἐν τῷ συναγαγεῖν με τοὺς πυλωροὺς	When I gathered the porters,

ἐν ἡμέραις ᾿Ιωακὶμ υἱοῦ ᾿Ιησοῦ, υἱοῦ ᾿Ιωσεδὲκ καὶ ἐν ἡμέραις Νεεμία, καὶ ῎Εσδρας ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ γραμματεύς.	it was in the days of Joakim son of Jesus, son of Josedec, and in the days of Neemia: and Esdras the priest was scribe.

Καί ἐν ἐγκαινίοις τείχους ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ ἐζήτησαν τοὺς Λευίτας ἐν τοῖς τόποις αὐτῶν τοῦ ἐνέγκαι αὐτοὺς εἰς ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ ποιῆσαι ἐγκαίνια καὶ εὐφροσύνην ἐν Θωδαθὰ καὶ ἐν ᾠδαῖς, κυμβαλίζοντες καὶ ψαλτήρια καὶ κινύραι.	And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites in their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep a feast of dedication and gladness with thanksgiving, and they sounded cymbals with songs, and had psalteries and harps.

καὶ συνήχθησαν οἱ υἱοὶ τῶν ἆδόντων καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς περιχώρου κυκλόθεν εἰς ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ καὶ ἀπὸ ἐπαύλεων	And the sons of the singers were assembled both from the neighbourhood round about to Jerusalem, and from the villages,

καὶ ἀπὸ ἀγρῶν· ὅτι ἐπαύλεις ᾠκοδόμησαν ἑαυτοῖς οἱ ᾄδοντες ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλήμ.	and from the country: for the singers built themselves villages by Jerusalem.
30	30
καὶ ἐκαθαρίσθησαν οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ οἱ Λευῖται, καὶ ἐκαθάρισαν τὸν λαὸν καὶ τοὺς πυλωροὺς καὶ τὸ τεῖχος.	And the priests and the Levites purified themselves, and they purified the people, and the porters, and the wall.

καὶ ἀνήνεγκα τοὺς ἄρχοντας ᾿Ιούδα ἐπάνω τοῦ τείχους καὶ ἔστησα δύο περὶ αἰνέσεως μεγάλους, καὶ διῆλθον ἐκ δεξιῶν ἐπάνω τοῦ τείχους τῆς κοπρίας,	And they brought up the princes of Juda on the wall, and they appointed two great companies for thanksgiving, and they passed on the right hand on the wall of the dung-gate.

καὶ ἐπορεύθη ὀπίσω αὐτῶν ᾿Ωσαΐα καὶ ἥμισυ ἀρχόντων ᾿Ιούδα	And after them went Osaia, and half the princes of Juda,

καὶ ᾿Αζαρίας καὶ ῎Εσδρας καὶ Μεσολλάμ,	and Azarias, and Esdras, and Mesollam,

καὶ ᾿Ιούδα καὶ Βενιαμὶν καὶ Σαμαΐας καὶ ῾Ιερεμία	and Juda, and Benjamin, and Samaias and Jeremia.

καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν τῶν ἱερέων ἐν σάλπιγξι Ζαχαρίας υἱὸς ᾿Ιωνάθαν, υἱὸς Σαμαΐα, υἱὸς Ματθανία, υἱὸς Μιχαία, υἱὸς Ζακχούρ, υἱὸς ᾿Ασάφ·	And some of the sons of the priest with trumpets, Zacharias son of Jonathan, son of Samaias, son of Matthania, son of Michaia, son of Zacchur, son of Asaph:

καὶ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ Σαμαΐα καὶ ᾿Οζιήλ, Γελώλ, ᾿Ιαμά, ᾿Αΐα, Ναθαναὴλ καὶ ᾿Ιούδα, ᾿Ανανί, τοῦ αἰνεῖν ἐν ᾠδαῖς Δαυὶδ ἀνθρώπου Θεοῦ, καὶ ῎Εσδρας ὁ γραμματεὺς ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν·	and his brethren, Samaia, and Oziel, Gelol, Jama, Aia, Nathanael, and Juda, Anani, to praise with the hymns of David the man of God; and Esdras the scribe was before them,

ἐπὶ πύλης τοῦ αἲν κατέναντι αὐτῶν ἀνέβησαν ἐπὶ κλίμακας πόλεως Δαυὶδ ἐν ἀναβάσει τοῦ τείχους ἐπάνωθεν τοῦ οἴκου Δαυὶδ καὶ ἕως τῆς πύλης τοῦ ὕδατος κατὰ ἀνατολάς.	at the gate, to praise before them, and they went up by the steps of the city of David, in the ascent of the wall, above the house of David, even to the water-gate

καὶ περὶ αἰνέσεως ἡ δευτέρα ἐπορεύετο συναντῶσα αὐτοῖς, καὶ τὸ ἥμισυ τοῦ λαοῦ ἐπάνω τοῦ τείχους ὑπεράνω τοῦ πύργου τῶν θεννουρὶμ καὶ ἕως τοῦ τείχους τοῦ πλατέος

καὶ ὑπεράνω τῆς πύλης ᾿Εφραὶμ καὶ ἐπὶ τὴν πύλην ἰχθυρὰν καὶ πύργῳ ᾿Αναμεὴλ καὶ ἕως πύλης τῆς προβατικῆς καὶ ἔστησαν ἐν πύλῃ τῆς φυλακῆς.	of Ephraim, and to the fish-gate, and by the tower of Anameel, and as far as the sheep-gate.

καὶ ἔστησαν αἱ δύο τῆς αἰνέσεως ἐν οἴκῳ τοῦ Θεοῦ, καὶ ἐγὼ καὶ τὸ ἥμισυ τῶν στρατηγῶν μετ’ ἐμοῦ

καὶ οἱ ἱερεῖς ᾿Ελιακίμ, Μαασίας, Βενιαμίν, Μιχαίας, ᾿Ελιωηναί, Ζαχαρίας, ᾿Ανανίας ἐν σάλπιγξι καὶ Μαασίας καὶ Σεμεΐας καὶ ᾿Ελεάζαρ καὶ ᾿Οζὶ καὶ ᾿Ιωανὰθ καὶ Μελχίας καὶ Αἰλὰμ καὶ ᾿Εζούρ,

καὶ ἠκούσθησαν οἱ ᾄδοντες καὶ ἐπεσκέπησαν.	And the singers were heard, and were numbered.
43	43
καὶ ἔθυσαν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ θυσιάσματα μεγάλα καὶ ηὐφράνθησαν, ὅτι ὁ Θεὸς ηὔφρανεν αὐτοὺς μεγάλως. καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτῶν ηὐφράνθησαν, καὶ ἠκούσθη ἡ εὐφροσύνη ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ ἀπὸ μακρόθεν.	And in that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced; for God had made them very joyful: and their wives and their children rejoiced: and the joy in Jerusalem was heard from afar off.
44	44
Καὶ κατέστησαν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἄνδρας ἐπὶ τῶν γαζοφυλακίων, τοῖς θυσαυροῖς, ταῖς ἀπαρχαῖς καὶ ταῖς δεκάταις καὶ τοῖς συνηγμένοις ἐν αὐτοῖς ἄρχουσι τῶν πόλεων, μερίδας τοῖς ἱερεῦσι καὶ τοῖς Λευίταις, ὅτι εὐφροσύνη ἦν ἐν ᾿Ιούδᾳ ἐπὶ τοὺς ἱερεῖς καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς Λευίτας τοὺς ἑστῶτας.	And in that day they appointed men over the treasuries, for the treasures, the first-fruits, and the tithes, and for the chiefs of the cities who were assembled among them, to furnish portions for the priests and Levites: for there was joy in Juda over the priests and over the Levites that waited.
45	45
καὶ ἐφύλαξαν φυλακὰς Θεοῦ αὐτῶν καὶ φυλακὰς τοῦ καθαρισμοῦ καὶ τοὺς ᾄδοντας καὶ τοὺς πυλωρούς, ὡς ἐντολαὶ Δαυὶδ καὶ Σαλωμὼν υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ.	And they kept the charges of their God, and the charges of the purification, and ordered the singers and the porters, according to the commandments of David and his son Solomon.
46	46
ὅτι ἐν ἡμέραις Δαυὶδ ᾿Ασὰφ ἀπ’ ἀρχῆς πρῶτος τῶν ἆδόντων καὶ ὕμνον καὶ αἴνεσιν τῷ Θεῷ.	For in the days of David Asaph was originally first of the singers, and they sang hymns and praise to God.
47	47
καὶ πᾶς ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐν ἡμέραις Ζοροβάβελ καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις Νεεμίου διδόντες μερίδας τῶν ἆδόντων καὶ τῶν πυλωρῶν, λόγον ἡμέρας ἐν ἡμέρᾳ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἁγιάζοντες τοῖς Λευίταις, καὶ οἱ Λευῖται ἁγιάζοντες τοῖς υἱοῖς ᾿Ααρών.	And all Israel in the days of Zorobabel, and in the days of Neemias, gave the portions of the singers and the porters, a daily rate: and consecrated them to the Levites: and the Levites consecrated them to the sons of Aaron.
Κεφάλαιο 13	Chapter 13

1	1
Εν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἀνεγνώσθη ἐν βιβλίῳ Μωυσῆ ἐν ὠσὶ τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ εὑρέθη γεγραμμένον ἐν αὐτῷ, ὅπως μὴ εἰσέλθωσιν ᾿Αμμανῖται καὶ Μωαβῖται ἐν ἐκκλησίᾳ Θεοῦ ἕως αἰῶνος,	In that day they read in the book of Moses in the ears of the people; and it was found written in it, that the Ammonites and Moabites should not enter into the congregation of God for ever;
2	2
ὅτι οὐ συνήντησαν τοῖς υἱοῖς ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐν ἄρτῳ καὶ ὕδατι καὶ ἐμισθώσαντο ἐπ’ αὐτὸν τὸν Βαλαὰμ καταράσασθαι, καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν τὴν κατάραν εἰς εὐλογίαν.	because they met not the children of Israel with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them: but our God turned the curse into a blessing.
3	3
καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤκουσαν τὸν νόμον, καὶ ἐχωρίσθησαν πᾶς ἐπίμικτος ἐν ᾿Ισραήλ.	And it came to pass, when they heard the law, that they were separated, even every alien in Israel.
4	4
καὶ πρὸ τούτου ᾿Ελιασὶβ ὁ ἱερεὺς οἰκῶν ἐν γαζοφυλακίῳ οἴκου Θεοῦ ἡμῶν ἐγγίων Τωβίᾳ	And before this time Eliasib the priest dwelt in the treasury of the house of our God, connected with Tobias;
5	5
καὶ ἐποίησεν ἑαυτῷ γαζοφυλάκιον μέγα, καὶ ἐκεῖ ἦσαν πρότερον διδόντες τὴν μαναὰν καὶ τὸν λίβανον καὶ τὰ σκεύη καὶ τὴν δεκάτην τοῦ σίτου καὶ τοῦ οἴνου καὶ τοῦ ἐλαίου, ἐντολὴν τῶν Λευιτῶν καὶ τῶν ἆδόντων καὶ τῶν πυλωρῶν καὶ ἀπαρχὰς τῶν ἱερέων.	and he made himself a great treasury, and there they were formerly in the habit of bestowing the offerings, and the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithe of the corn, and the wine, and the oil, the ordered portion of the Levites, and singers, and porters; and the first-fruits of the priests.

καὶ ἐν παντὶ τούτῳ οὐκ ἤμην ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλήμ· ὅτι ἐν ἔτει τριακοστῷ καὶ δευτέρῳ τοῦ ᾿Αρθασασθὰ βασιλέως Βαβυλῶνος ἦλθον πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα. καὶ μετὰ τὸ τέλος τῶν ἡμερῶν ᾐτησάμην παρὰ τοῦ βασιλέως	But in all this time I was not in Jerusalem; for in the thirty-second year of Arthasastha king of Babylon I came to the king, and after a certain time I made my request of the king;
7	7
καὶ ἦλθον εἰς ῾Ιερουσαλήμ. καὶ συνῆκα ἐν τῇ πονηρίᾳ, ᾖ ἐποίησεν ᾿Ελιασὶβ τῷ Τωβίᾳ, ποιῆσαι αὐτῷ γαζοφυλάκιον ἐν αὐλῇ οἴκου τοῦ Θεοῦ.	and I came to Jerusalem, and I understood the mischief which Eliasib had done in the case of Tobias, in making for him a treasury in the court of the house of God.
8	8
καὶ πονηρόν μοι ἐφάνη σφόδρα, καὶ ἔρριψα πάντα τὰ σκεύη οἴκου Τωβία ἔξω ἀπὸ τοῦ γαζοφυλακίου·	And it appeared very evil to me: so I cast forth all the furniture of the house of Tobias from the treasury.
9	9
καὶ εἶπα καὶ ἐκαθάρισαν τὰ γαζοφυλάκια, καὶ ἐπέστρεψα ἐκεῖ σκεύη οἴκου τοῦ Θεοῦ, τὴν μαναὰν καὶ τὸν λίβανον.	And I gave orders, and they purified the treasuries: and I restored thither the vessels of the house of God, and the offerings, and the frankincense.
10	10
καὶ ἔγνων ὅτι μερίδες τῶν Λευιτῶν οὐκ ἐδόθησαν, καὶ ἐφύγοσαν ἀνὴρ εἰς ἀγρὸν αὐτοῦ, οἱ Λευῖται καὶ οἱ ᾄδοντες ποιοῦντες τὸ ἔργον.	And I understood that the portion of the Levites had not been given: and they had fled every one to his field, the Levites and the singers doing the work.
11	11
καὶ ἐμαχεσάμην τοῖς στρατηγοῖς καὶ εἶπα· διατί ἐγκατελείφθη ὁ οἶκος τοῦ Θεοῦ; καὶ συνήγαγον αὐτοὺς καὶ ἔστησα αὐτοὺς ἐπὶ τῇ στάσει αὐτῶν.	And I strove with the commanders, and said, Wherefore has the house of God been abandoned? and I assembled them, and set them in their place.
12	12
καὶ πᾶς ᾿Ιούδα ἤνεγκαν δεκάτην τοῦ πυροῦ καὶ τοῦ οἴνου καὶ τοῦ ἐλαίου εἰς τοὺς θησαυροὺς	And all Juda brought a tithe of the wheat and the wine and the oil into the treasuries,
13	13
ἐπὶ χεῖρα Σελεμία τοῦ ἱερέως καὶ Σαδδοὺκ τοῦ γραμματέως καὶ Φαδαΐα ἀπὸ τῶν Λευιτῶν, καὶ ἐπὶ χεῖρα αὐτῶν ᾿Ανὰν υἱὸς Ζακχούρ, υἱὸς Ματθανίου, ὅτι πιστοὶ ἐλογίσθησαν ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς μερίζειν τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς αὐτῶν.	to the charge of Selemia the priest, and Sadoc the scribe, and Phadaea of the Levites: and next to them was Anan the son of Zacchur, son of Matthanias; for they were accounted faithful: it was their office to distribute to their brethren.
14	14
μνήσθητί μου, ὁ Θεός, ἐν ταύτῃ, καὶ μὴ ἐξαλειφθήτω ἔλεός μου, ὃ ἐποίησα ἐν οἴκῳ Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ.	Remember me, O God, in this, and let not my kindness be forgotten which I have wrought in regard to the house of the Lord God.
15	15
᾿Εν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις εἶδον ἐν ᾿Ιούδᾳ πατοῦντας ληνοὺς ἐν τῷ σαββάτῳ καὶ φέροντας δράγματα καὶ ἐπιγεμίζοντας ἐπὶ τοὺς ὄνους καὶ οἶνον καὶ σταφυλὴν καὶ σῦκα καὶ πᾶν βάσταγμα καὶ φέροντας εἰς ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ σαββάτου· καὶ ἐπεμαρτυράμην ἐν ἡμέρᾳ πράσεως αὐτῶν.	In those days I saw in Juda men treading wine-presses on the sabbath, and carrying sheaves, and loading asses with both wine, and grapes, and figs, and every kind of burden, and bringing them into Jerusalem on the sabbath-day:
16	16
καὶ ἐκάθισαν ἐν αὐτῇ φέροντες ἰχθὺν καὶ πᾶσαν πρᾶσιν πωλοῦντες ἐν τῷ σαββάτῳ τοῖς υἱοῖς ᾿Ιούδα καὶ ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλήμ.	and I testified in the day of their sale. Also their dwelt in it men bringing fish, and selling every kind of merchandise to the children of Juda and in Jerusalem on the sabbath.
17	17
καὶ ἐμαχεσάμην τοῖς υἱοῖς ᾿Ιούδα τοῖς ἐλευθέροις καὶ εἶπα αὐτοῖς· τίς ὁ λόγος οὗτος ὁ πονηρός, ὃν ὑμεῖς ποιεῖτε, καὶ βεβηλοῦτε τὴν ἡμέραν τοῦ σαββάτου;	And I strove with the free children of Juda, and said to them, What is this evil thing which ye do, and profane the sabbath-day?
18	18
οὐχὶ οὕτως ἐποίησαν οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν, καὶ ἤνεγκεν ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν καὶ ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς πάντα τὰ κακὰ ταῦτα καὶ ἐπὶ τὴν πόλιν ταύτην; καὶ ὑμεῖς προστίθετε ὀργὴν ἐπὶ ᾿Ισραὴλ βεβηλῶσαι τὸ σάββατον;	Did not your fathers thus, and our God brought upon them and upon us and upon this city all these evils? and do ye bring additional wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath?
19	19
καὶ ἐγένετο ἡνίκα κατέστησαν πύλαι ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ πρὸ τοῦ σαββάτου, καὶ εἶπα καὶ ἔκλεισαν τὰς πύλας, καὶ εἶπα ὥστε μὴ ἀνοιγῆναι αὐτὰς ἕως ὀπίσω τοῦ σαββάτου· καὶ ἐκ τῶν παιδαρίων μου ἔστησα ἐπὶ τὰς πύλας, ὥστε μὴ αἴρειν βαστάγματα ἐν ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ σαββάτου.	And it came to pass, when the gates were set up in Jerusalem, before the sabbath, that I spoke, and they shut the gates; and I gave orders that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and I set some of my servants at the gates, that none should bring in burdens on the sabbath-day.
20	20
καὶ ηὐλίσθησαν πάντες καὶ ἐποίησαν πρᾶσιν ἔξω ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ ἅπαξ καὶ δίς.	So all the merchants lodged, and carried on traffic without Jerusalem once or twice.
21	21
καὶ ἐπεμαρτυράμην ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ εἶπα πρὸς αὐτούς· διατί ὑμεῖς αὐλίζεσθε ἀπέναντι τοῦ τείχους; ἐὰν δευτερώσητε, ἐκτενῶ χεῖρά μου ἐν ὑμῖν. ἀπὸ τοῦ καιροῦ ἐκείνου οὐκ ἤλθοσαν ἐν σαββάτῳ.	Then I testified against them, and said to them, Why do ye lodge in front of the wall? if ye do so again, I will stretch out my hand upon you. From that time they came not on the sabbath.
22	22
καὶ εἶπα τοῖς Λευίταις, οἳ ἦσαν καθαριζόμενοι, καὶ ἐρχόμενοι φυλάσσοντες τὰς πύλας, ἁγιάζειν τὴν ἡμέραν τοῦ σαββάτου. πρὸς ταῦτα μνήσθητί μου, ὁ Θεός, καὶ φεῖσαί μου κατὰ τὸ πλῆθος τοῦ ἐλέους σου.	and I told the Levites who were purifying themselves, and came and kept the gates, that they should sanctify the sabbath-day. Remember me, O God, for these things, and spare me according to the abundance of thy mercy.
23	23
Καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις εἶδον τοὺς ᾿Ιουδαίους, οἳ ἐκάθισαν γυναῖκας ᾿Αζωτίας, ᾿Αμμανίτιδας, Μωαβίτιδας	And in those days I saw the Jews who had married women of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab:
24	24
καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτῶν ἥμισυ λαλοῦντες ᾿Αζωτιστὶ καὶ οὐκ εἰσὶν ἐπιγινώσκοντες λαλεῖν ᾿Ιουδαϊστί,	and their children spoke half in the language of Ashdod, and did not know how to speak in the Jewish language.
25	25
καὶ ἐμαχεσάμην μετ’ αὐτῶν καὶ κατηρασάμην αὐτοὺς καὶ ἐπάταξα ἐν αὐτοῖς ἄνδρας καὶ ἐμαδάρωσα αὐτοὺς καὶ ὥρκισα αὐτοὺς ἐν τῷ Θεῷ· ἐὰν δῶτε τὰς θυγατέρας ὑμῶν τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτῶν, καὶ ἐὰν λάβητε ἀπὸ τῶν θυγατέρων αὐτῶν τοῖς υἱοῖς ὑμῶν.	And I strove with them and cursed them; and I smote some of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying,Ye shall not give your daughters to their sons, and ye shall not take of their daughters to your sons.
26	26
οὐχ οὕτως ἥμαρτε Σαλωμὼν βασιλεὺς ᾿Ισραήλ; καὶ ἐν ἔθνεσι πολλοῖς οὐκ ἦν βασιλεὺς ὅμοιος αὐτῷ· καὶ ἀγαπώμενος τῷ Θεῷ ἦν, καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὸν ὁ Θεὸς εἰς βασιλέα ἐπὶ πάντα ᾿Ισραήλ· καὶ τοῦτον ἐξέκλιναν αἱ γυναῖκες αἱ ἀλλότριαι.	Did not Solomon king of Israel sin thus? though there was no king like him among many nations, and he was beloved of God, and God made him king over all Israel; yet strange women turned him aside.
27	27
καὶ ὑμῶν μὴ ἀκουσώμεθα ποιῆσαι τὴν πᾶσαν πονηρίαν ταύτην ἀσυνθετῆσαι ἐν τῷ Θεῷ ἡμῶν καθίσαι γυναῖκας ἀλλοτρίας;	So we will not hearken to you to do all this evil, to break covenant with our God, —to marry strange wives.
28	28
καὶ ἀπὸ υἱῶν ᾿Ιωαδὰ τοῦ ᾿Ελισοὺβ τοῦ ἱερέως τοῦ μεγάλου νυμφίου τοῦ Σαναβαλλὰτ τοῦ Οὐρανίτου καὶ ἐξέβρασα αὐτὸν ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ.	and Elisub the high priest, one of the sons of Joada, being son-in-law of Sanaballat the Uranite, I chased him away from me.
29	29
μνήσθητι αὐτοῖς, ὁ Θεός, ἐπὶ ἀγχιστείᾳ τῆς ἱερατείας καὶ διαθήκῃ τῆς ἱερατείας καὶ τοὺς Λευίτας.	Remember them, O God, for their false connection with the priesthood, and the breaking the covenant of the priesthood, and for defiling the Levites.
30	30
καὶ ἐκαθάρισα αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ πάσης ἀλλοτριώσεως καὶ ἔστησα ἐφημερίας τοῖς ἱερεῦσι καὶ τοῖς Λευίταις, ἀνὴρ ὡς τὸ ἔργον αὐτοῦ,	So I purged them from all foreign connection, and established courses for the priests and the Levites, every man according to his work.
31	31
καὶ τὸ δῶρον τῶν ξυλοφόρων ἐν καιροῖς ἀπὸ χρόνων καὶ ἐν τοῖς βακχουρίοις. μνήσθητί μου ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν εἰς ἀγαθωσύνην.	And the offering of the wood-bearers was at certain set times, and in the times of the first-fruits. Remember me, O our God, for good.
