| Е$сть лукaвствіе, є4же ви1дэхъ под8 с0лнцемъ, и3 мн0го є4сть над8 человёкомъ: | There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is abundant with man: |

| мyжъ, є3мyже дaстъ бGъ богaтство и3 и3мёніе и3 слaву, и3 нёсть лишazй души2 своeй t всёхъ, и4хже вожделёетъ, и3 не дaстъ є3мY бGъ влaсти t негw2 ћсти, ћкw чyждь мyжъ ћсти и4мать t негw2. И# сіE суетA и3 недyгъ ѕ0лъ є4сть. | a man to whom God shall give wealth, and substance, and honour, and he wants nothing for his soul of all things that he shall desire, yet God shall not give him power to eat of it, for a stranger shall devour it: this is vanity, and an evil infirmity. |

| Ѓще роди1тъ мyжъ сто2 (ч†дъ) и3 лBта мнHга поживeтъ, и3 мн0зи бyдутъ днjе лётъ є3гw2, и3 душA є3гw2 не насhтитсz t благостhни, и3 погребeніz не бhсть є3мY, рёхъ: блaгъ пaче є3гw2 и4звергъ, | If a man beget a hundred children, and live many years, yea, however abundant the days of his years shall be, yet if his soul shall not be satisfied with good, and also he have no burial; I said, An untimely birth is better than he. |

| ћкw въ суетЁ пріи1де и3 во тмY и4детъ, и3 во тмЁ и4мz є3гw2 покрhетсz: | For he came in vanity, and departs in darkness, and his name shall be covered in darkness. |

| и3 с0лнца не ви1дэ, нижE разумЁ, пок0й семY пaче тогw2: | Moreover he has not seen the sun, nor known rest: there is no more rest to this one than another. |

| и3 поживE тhсzщу лётъ сугyбw, и3 благостhни не ви1дэ: є3дA не во є3ди1но мёсто вс‰ и4дутъ; | Though he has lived to the return of a thousand years, yet he has seen no good: do not all go to one place? |

| Вeсь трyдъ человёчь во ўстA є3гw2, и3 душA є3гw2 не и3сп0лнитсz. | All the labour of a man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite shall not be satisfied. |

| Ћкw к0е и3з8oби1ліе (человёку) мyдрому пaче безyмнагw; понeже ни1щь познA ходи1ти проти1ву животA. | For what advantage has the wise man over the fool, since even the poor knows how to walk in the direction of life? |

| Блaго видёніе џчію пaче ходsщагw душeю. И# сE сyетствіе и3 произволeніе дyха. | The sight of the eyes is better than that which wanders in soul: this is also vanity, and waywardness of spirit. |

| Ѓще что2 бhсть, ўжE и3меновaсz и4мz є3гw2, и3 познaсz, є4же є4сть человёкъ и3 не возм0жетъ суди1тисz съ крэпчaйшимъ пaче себє2: | If anything has been, its name has already been called: and it is known what man is; neither can he contend with him who is stronger than he. |
