O King, mighty in power, most high, Almighty God, who regulatest the whole creation with thy tender mercy,	цRю2 великодержaвный, вhшній, вседержи1телю б9е, и4же создaніе всE стр0zй въ щедр0тахъ, воззри2 нн7э на сёмz ґвраaмле, на њсвzщeннагw їaкwва ч†да, чaсти свzщeнныz людjй твои1хъ, въ земли2 чуждeй стрaнствующихъ, непрaведнw погибaющихъ, џ§е!

Thou destroyedst Pharaoh, with his host of chariots, when that lord of this same Egypt was uplifted with lawless hardihood and loud-sounding tongue. When Sennacherim, the grievous king of the Assyrians, glorying in his countless hosts, had subdued the whole land with his spear, and was lifting himself against thy holy city, with boastings grievous to be endured, thou, O Lord, didst demolish him and didst shew forth thy might to many nations.	ты2 въ вавmлHнэ тріeхъ nтрокHвъ nгню2 дyшы самов0льнэ предaвшихъ, за є4же не служи1ти сквє1рнымъ, разжжeнную њроси1въ пeщь, и3збaвилъ є3си2 дaже до влaса невреди1мыхъ, плaмень на вс‰ послaвъ сопроти6вныz:

When the three friends in the land of Babylon of their own will exposed their lives to the fire rather than serve vain things, thou didst send a dewy coolness through the fiery furnace, and bring the fire upon all their adversaries.	ты2 даніи1ла њболгaньми зави1стными ввeржена въ р0въ на снэдeніе львHмъ ѕвэрє1мъ свирBпымъ, на свётъ и3звeлъ є3си2 здрaва: и3 їHну во чрeвэ ки1та морскaгw тaющаго нещaднэ, всBмъ свои6мъ невреди1ма показaлъ є3си2, џ§е!

It was thou who, when Daniel was hurled, through slander and envy, as a prey to lions down below, didst bring him back again unhurt to light.	и3 нн7э, њби1дъ ненави1стниче, многомлcтиве, всёхъ покрови1телю, вск0рэ kви1сz сyщымъ t р0да ї}лева, t kзы6къ же беззак0нныхъ мeрзкихъ њби6димымъ:

When Jonah was pining away in the belly of the sea-bred monster, thou didst look upon him, O Father, and recover him to the sight of his own.	ѓще же нечeстіемъ њб8sто є4сть въ преселeніи житіE нaше, ты и3збaвивъ нaсъ t рукY вр†гъ си1хъ, ћкоже произв0лиши, вLко, погуби2 нaсъ смeртію,

And now, thou who hatest insolence; thou who dost abound in mercy; thou who art the protector of all things; appear quickly to those of the race of Israel, who are insulted by abhorred, lawless Gentiles.	да не сyетными суемyдренніи похвaлzтсz њ погублeніи возлю1бленныхъ твои1хъ, глаг0люще: нижE бGъ и4хъ и3збaви и5хъ:

If our life has during our exile been stained with iniquity, deliver us from the hand of the enemy, and destroy us, O Lord, by the death which thou preferrest.	тh же всsку си1лу и3 крёпость и3мёzй всю2, превёчный, нн7э при1зри,

Let not the vain-minded congratulate vain idols at the destruction of thy beloved, saying, Neither did their God deliver them.	поми1луй нaсъ, њби1дою беззак0нныхъ безсловeсною животA лишaемыхъ w4бразомъ предaтелей,

Thou who art All-powerful and Almighty, O Eternal One, behold! have mercy upon us who are being withdrawn from life, like traitors, by the unreasoning insolence of lawless men.	да ўдивsтсz нн7э kзhцы непобэди1мэй крёпости твоeй, пречcтне, и3мёzй си1лу њ спcніи р0да їaкwвлz:

Let the heathen cower before thy invincible might to-day, O glorious One, who hast all power to save the race of Jacob.	м0литъ тS всE мн0жество младeнцєвъ и3 роди1телє и4хъ со слезaми: да покaжетсz всBмъ kзhкwмъ, ћкw съ нaми є3си2, гDи, и3 не tврати1лъ є3си2 лицA твоегw2 t нaсъ:

The whole band of infants and their parents with tears beseech thee.	но ћкоже рeклъ є3си2, ћкw нижE въ земли2 врагHвъ свои1хъ сyщихъ презрёлъ є3си2 и5хъ, си1це соверши2, гDи.

Let it be shewn to all the nations that thou art with us, O Lord, and hast not turned thy face away from us; but as thou saidst that thou wouldst not forget them even in the land of their enemies, so do thou fulfil this saying, O Lord.	Е#леазaру же кончaющу ўжE моли1тву сію2, цaрь со ѕвэрьми2 и3 всeю си1лы г0рдостію прибли1жисz ко їпподр0му.

Now, at the time that Eleazar had ended his prayer, the king came along to the hippodrome, with the wild beasts, and with his tumultuous power.	Ўви1дэвше же їудeє, вельми2 возопи1ша на нб7о, ћкw и3 прилеж†щаz ўдHліz кyпнw съ ни1ми вопію6щаz неудержи1мь плaчь сотвори1ша всемY в0инству.

When the Jews saw this, they uttered a loud cry to heaven, so that the adjacent valleys resounded, and caused an irrepressible lamentation throughout the army.	ТогдA великослaвный вседержи1тель и3 и4стинный бGъ, kви1въ с™0е своE лицE, tвeрзе двє1ри нбcныz, и3з8 ни1хже снид0ста двA сл†вна, стр†шна ви1домъ ѓгGла kвлeннэ всBмъ кромЁ їудewвъ,

Then the all-glorious, all-powerful, and true God, displayed his holy countenance, and opened the gates of heaven, from which two angels, dreadful of form, came down, and were visible to all but the Jews.	и3 сопротивостaста, и3 си1лу супост†тъ и3сп0лниста смzтeніz и3 ќжаса, и3 неподви1жными п{ты свzзaста: тaкожде и3 тёло цaрское трeпетно бhсть, и3 забвeніе дeрзость є3гw2 тsжкую њб8S.

And they stood opposite, and filled the enemies' host with confusion and cowardice; and bound them with immoveable fetters.	И# њбрати1шасz ѕвёріе на послёдующыz воwружє1нныz си6лы, и3 попирaху и5хъ и3 погублsху.

And a cold shudder came over the person of the king, and oblivion paralysed the vehemence of his spirit.	И# њбрати1сz гнёвъ цaрскій во ўмилeніе и3 слeзы њ пред8угот0ванныхъ t негw2 мучeніихъ.

They turned back the animals upon the armed forces which followed them; and the animals trod them down, and destroyed them.	Ўслhшавъ бо в0пль и3 ви1дэвъ преклонeнныхъ всёхъ въ погублeніе, прослези1всz со гнёвомъ другHмъ прещaше, глаг0лz:

The king's wrath was converted into compassion; and he wept at his own machinations.	вы ѕлЁ цaрство ўправлsете и3 мучи1телей превосх0дите лю1тостію, и3 менE самaго вaшего благодётелz тщитeсz t влaсти ўжE и3 дyха низложи1ти, тaйнw ўхищрsюще неполє1знаz цaрству:

For when he heard the cry, and saw them all on the verge of destruction, with tears he angrily threatened his friends, saying,	кто2 держaвшихъ нaшz въ вёрности страны2 твєрдhни, t д0му tлучи1въ, коег0ждо безсловeснэ собрA сёмw;

Ye have governed badly; and have exceeded tyrants in cruelty; and me your benefactor ye have laboured to deprive at once of my dominion and my life, by secretly devising measures injurious to the kingdom.	кто2 си1хъ, и5же и3з8 начaла благопріsтствомъ къ нaмъ по всемY превосх0дzтъ всёхъ kзhкwвъ и3 ѕлёйшыz мн0жицею t человBкъ под8sша бэды6, си1це беззак0нными њбложи2 ќзами;

Who has gathered here, unreasonably removing each from his home, those who, in fidelity to us, had held the fortresses of the country?	рэши1те, разрэши1те непрaвєдныz ќзы и3 во сво‰ и5хъ съ ми1ромъ посли1те, њ преждесодёланныхъ примири1вшесz: разрэши1те сhны вседержи1телz нбcнагw бGа живaгw, и4же t нaшихъ прароди1телей дaже донн7э непреткновeнно во слaвэ благостоsніе подаeтъ вeщемъ нaшымъ.

Who has thus consigned to unmerited punishments those who in good will towards us from the beginning have in all things surpassed all nations, and who often have engaged in the most dangerous undertakings?	Рeкшу же ќбw є3мY сі‰, їудeє вск0рэ разрэшeни бhвше благословлsху, ўжE и3збэжaвше смeрти, с™aго сп7си1телz бGа своего2.

Loose, loose the unjust bonds; send them to their homes in peace, and deprecate what has been done.	Посeмъ цaрь во грaдъ возврати1всz и3 призвaвъ над8 росхHды старёйшаго, повелЁ даsти віно2 и3 прHчаz къ пировaнію потрє1бнаz їудewмъ на днjй сeдмь, суди1въ и5мъ тaможде во всsцэмъ весeліи дeнь спасeніz провождaти, въ нeмже мёстэ мнёша поги1бель пріsти.

Release the sons of the almighty living God of heaven, who from our ancestors' times until now has granted a glorious and uninterrupted prosperity to our affairs.	ТогдA сjи, и5же прeжде въ поношeніи и3 бли1з8 ѓда бhша, пaче же въ него2 сошeдшіи, вмёстw г0рькіz и3 плачeвныz смeрти, пи1ршество спасeніz состaвивше, мёсто ўгот0ванное и5мъ ко падeнію и3 гр0бу, на возлєжaніz раздэли1ша, и3сп0лнени рaдости.

These things he said: and they, released the same moment, having now escaped death, praised God their holy Saviour.	И# њстaвивше рыдaніz всеплачeвную пёснь, воспріsша пёснь nтeческую, хвaлzще сп7си1телz и3 чудодётелz бGа: и3 всsкій плaчь и3 стенaніе tри1нувше, ли1ки состaвиша во знaменіе весeліz ми1рнагw.

The king then departed to the city, and called his financier to him, and bade him provide a seven days' quantity of wine and other materials for feasting for the Jews. He decided that they should keep a gladsome festival of deliverance in the very place in which they expected to meet with their destruction.	Тaкожде и3 цaрь њ си1хъ состaвивъ пировaніе вeліе, безпрестaннw на нб7о и3сповёдашесz великолёпнэ њ преслaвнэмъ бhвшемъ себЁ спасeніи.

Then they who were before despised and nigh unto Hades, yea, rather advanced into it, partook of the cup of salvation, instead of a grievous and lamentable death. Full of exultation, they parted out the place intended for their fall and burial into banqueting booths.	Полагaвшіи же їудeєвъ прeжде въ поги1бель и3 въ снёдь пти1цамъ и3 съ рaдостію њписaвшіи, срамот0ю њб8sти бhвше стенsху, nгнедыхaтелнэй и4хъ дeрзости безчeстнw ўгaсшей.

Ceasing their miserable strain of woe, they took up the subject of their fatherland, hymning in praise God their wonder-working Saviour. All groans, all wailing, were laid aside: they formed dances in token of serene joy.	Їудeє же, ћкоже предрек0хомъ, состaвивше предрэчeнный ли1къ, со ўчреждeніемъ во и3сповёданіихъ весeлыхъ и3 pалмёхъ провождaху,

So, also, the king collected a number of guests for the occasion, and returned unceasing thanks with much magnificence for the unexpected deliverance afforded him.	и3 џбщій њпредэли1вше њ си1хъ ўстaвъ, во всsцэмъ преселeніи своeмъ въ р0ды, є4же бы предречє1нныz дни6 прaздновати въ весeліи, не питіS рaди и3 kдeніz, но сп7сeніz рaди бhвшагw и5мъ t бGа.

Those who had marked them out as for death and for carrion, and had registered them with joy, howled aloud, and were clothed with shame, and had the fire of their rage ingloriously put out.	Пріид0ша же ко царю2 просsще tпущeніz во сво‰ си.

But the Jews, as we just said, instituted a dance, and then gave themselves up to feasting, glad thanksgivings, and psalms.	Њпи1сани же бhша t двaдесzть пsтагw днE мцcа пахHна дaже до четвeртагw днE мцcа є3піфA, во днeхъ четhредесzтихъ: состaвиша же и5мъ поги1бель t пsтагw днE мцcа є3піфA дaже до седмaгw, въ тріeхъ днeхъ: въ ни1хже и3 преслaвнw kви1въ млcть свою2 всеси1льный, и3збaви и5хъ безврeдныхъ кyпнw.

They made a public ordinance to commemorate these things for generations to come, as long as they should be sojourners. They thus established these days as days of mirth, not for the purpose of drinking or luxury, but because God had saved them.	Пи1ршествоваша же всёми t царS снабдэвaеми дaже до четвертагwнaдесzть днE, въ џньже и3 прошeніе сотвори1ша њ tпущeніи своeмъ.

They requested the king to send them back to their homes.	Похвали1въ же и5хъ цaрь, написA и5мъ нижепи1санное послaніе ко страти1гwмъ сyщымъ по градHмъ, великодyшнэ ўсeрдіе и3мyщее.

They were being enrolled from the twenty-fifth of Pachon to the fourth of Epiphi, a period of forty days: the measures taken for their destruction lasted from the fifth of Epiphi till the seventh, that is, three days.

The Ruler over all did during this time manifest forth his mercy gloriously, and did deliver them all together unharmed.

They feasted upon the king's provision up to the fourteenth day, and then asked to be sent away.

The king commended them, and wrote the subjoined letter, of magnanimous import for them, to the commanders of every city.
