Chapter 7	Глава 7

A good name is better than good oil; and the day of death than the day of birth.	Что ізли́шше челові́ку, я́ко кто вість, что бла́го челові́ку в животі́ (єго́) число́ дній живота́ су́єтства єго́? І сотвори́ я в сі́ні. Я́ко кто возвісти́ть челові́ку, что бу́деть по нем под со́лнцем?

It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the banquet house: since this is the end of every man; and the living man will apply good warning to his heart.	Бла́го і́м'я па́че єле́я бла́га, і день сме́ртний па́че дня рожде́нія єго́.

Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart will be made better.	Бла́го ходи́ти в дом пла́ча, не́жели ходи́ти в дом пи́ра, поне́же сіє́ коне́ць вся́кому челові́ку, і живи́й дасть бла́го в се́рдці єго́.

The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.	Бла́га я́рость па́че смі́ха, я́ко во зло́бі лиця́ ублажи́ться се́рдце.

It is better to hear a reproof of a wise man, than for a man to hear the song of fools.	Се́рдце му́дрих в дому́ пла́ча, а се́рдце безу́мних в дому́ весе́лія.

As the sound of thorns under a caldron, so is the laughter of fools: this is also vanity.	Бла́го є́же сли́шати преще́ніє прему́дра, па́че му́жа сли́шащаго піснь безу́мних.

For oppression makes a wise man mad, and destroys his noble heart.	Я́коже глас те́рнія под котло́м, та́ко сміх безу́мних. І сіє́ суєта́.

The end of a matter is better than the beginning thereof: the patient is better than the high-minded.	Я́ко клевета́ льстить му́драго і погубля́єть се́рдце благоро́дствія єго́.

Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger will rest in the bosom of fools.	Бла́га послі́дняя слове́с па́че нача́ла єго́, благ терпіли́вий па́че висо́каго ду́хом.

Say not, What has happened, that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire in wisdom concerning this.	Не тщи́ся в ду́сі своє́м яри́тися, я́ко я́рость в ні́дрі безу́мних почи́єть.

Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and there is an advantage by it to them that see the sun.	Да не рече́ши: что бисть, я́ко дні́є пре́жднії бі́ша бла́зі па́че сих? Я́ко не в му́дрості вопроси́л єси́ о сем.

For wisdom in its shadow is as the shadow of silver: and the excellence of the knowledge of wisdom will give life to him that has it.	Бла́га му́дрость с наслі́дієм, па́че же ви́дящим со́лнце.

Behold the works of God: for who shall be able to straighten him whom God has made crooked?	Я́ко в сі́ні єго́ му́дрость, я́коже сінь сребра́, і ізоби́ліє ра́зума прему́дрости оживля́єть, і́же от нея́.

In the day of prosperity live joyfully, and consider in the day of adversity: consider, I say, God also has caused the one to agree with the other for this reason, that man should find nothing after him.	Виждь творе́нія Бо́жія: я́ко кто мо́жеть украси́ти, єго́же а́ще Бог преврати́ть?
15	15
I have seen all things in the days of my vanity: there is a just man perishing in his justice, and there is an ungodly man remaining in his wickedness.	В день благости́ні (Єго́) живи́ во бла́зі і виждь в день зла. Виждь, і с ним согла́сно сіє́ сотвори́ Бог, о глаго́ланії, да не обря́щеть челові́к за Ним нічто́же.

Be not very just; neither be very wise: lest thou be confounded.	Вся́чеськая ви́діх во днех су́єтствія моєго́. Єсть пра́ведний погиба́яй во своє́й пра́вді, і єсть нечести́вий пребива́яй во своє́й зло́бі.

Be not very wicked; and be not stubborn: lest thou shouldest die before thy time.	Не бу́ди правди́в вельми́, ні мудри́ся ізли́шше, да не когда́ ізуми́шися.

It is well for thee to hold fast by this; also by this defile not thine hand: for to them that fear God all things shall come forth well.	Не нече́ствуй мно́го і не бу́ди же́сток, да не у́мреши не во вре́м'я своє́.
19	19
Wisdom will help the wise man more than ten mighty men which are in the city.	Бла́го ті єсть держа́тися сего́, і от сего́ не оскверни́ руки́ твоєя́, я́ко боя́щимся Бо́га поспіша́ться вся.
20	20
For there is not a righteous man in the earth, who will do good, and not sin.	Прему́дрость помо́жеть му́дрому па́че десяти́ облада́ющих во гра́ді.

Also take no heed to all the words which ungodly men shall speak; lest thou hear thy servant cursing thee.	Я́ко ність челові́к пра́веден на землі́, і́же сотвори́ть благо́є і не согріши́ть.
22	22
For many times he shall trespass against thee, and repeatedly shall he afflict thine heart; for thus also hast thou cursed others.	І во вся словеса́, я́же возглаго́лють нечести́вії, не вложи́ се́рдця своєго́, да не усли́шиши раба́ своєго́ клену́ща тебе́,

All these things have I proved in wisdom: I said, I will be wise; but it was far from me.	я́ко мно́гажди возлука́внуєть на тя, і обхожде́нії мно́гими озло́бить се́рдце твоє́, я́коже і ти клял єси́ іни́я (мно́гія).

That which is far beyond what was, and a great depth, who shall find it out?	Вся сія́ іскуси́х в му́дрості. Ріх: умудрю́ся, і сія́ удали́ся от мене́

I and my heart went round about to know, and to examine, and to seek wisdom, and the account of things, and to know the folly and trouble and madness of the ungodly man.	дале́че па́че не́же біх, і бе́здни глубина́, кто обря́щеть ю?
26	26
And I find her to be, and I will pronounce to be more bitter than death the woman which is a snare, and her heart nets, who has a band in her hands: he that is good in the sight of God shall be delivered from her; but the sinner shall be caught by her.	Обидо́х аз, і се́рдце моє́, є́же разумі́ти, є́же разсмотри́ти, і є́же взиска́ти му́дрость і ра́зум, і є́же разумі́ти нечести́ваго безу́міє і ожесточе́ніє і лесть.

Behold, this have I found, said the Preacher, seeking by one at a time to find out the account,	І обріто́х аз ю, і реку́ горча́йшу па́че сме́рти жену́, я́же єсть лови́тва, і сі́ті се́рдце єя́, у́зи в руку́ єя́. Благи́й пред лице́м Бо́жиїм ізи́меться от нея́, а согріша́яй ят бу́деть от нея́.

which my soul sought after, but I found not: for I have found one man of a thousand; but a woman in all these I have not found.	Се, сіє́ обріто́х, рече́ Екклесіа́ст, єди́ну єди́ною є́же обрісти́ по́мисл, є́же взиска́ душа́ моя́, і не обріто́х.

But, behold, this have I found, that God made man upright; but they have sought out many devices. Who knows the wise? and who knows the interpretation of a saying?	І челові́ка єди́наго от ти́сящ обріто́х, а жени́ во всіх сих не обріто́х.
