ΚΑΙ οὗτοι οἱ λόγοι τοῦ βιβλίου, οὓς ἔγραψε Βαροὺχ υἱὸς Νηρίου, υἱοῦ Μαασαίου, υἱοῦ Σεδεκίου, υἱοῦ ᾿Ασαδίου, υἱοῦ Χελκίου, ἐν Βαβυλῶνι,	And these are the words of the book, which Baruch the son of Nerias, the son of Maasias, the son of Sedecias, the son of Asadias, the son of Chelcias, wrote in Babylon,

ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ πέμπτῳ, ἐν ἑβδόμῃ τοῦ μηνός, ἐν τῷ καιρῷ, ᾧ ἔλαβον οἱ Χαλδαῖοι τὴν ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ καὶ ἐνέπρησαν αὐτὴν ἐν πυρί.	in the fifth year, and in the seventh day of the month, what time as the Chaldeans took Jerusalem, and burnt it with fire.

καὶ ἀνέγνω Βαροὺχ τοὺς λόγους τοῦ βιβλίου τούτου ἐν ὠσὶν ᾿Ιεχονίου, υἱοῦ ᾿Ιωακεὶμ βασιλέως ᾿Ιούδα καὶ ἐν ὠσὶ παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ τῶν ἐρχομένων πρὸς τὴν βίβλον	And Baruch did read the words of this book in the hearing of Jechonias the son of Joachim king of Juda, and in the ears of all the people that came to hear the book,

καὶ ἐν ὠσὶ τῶν δυνατῶν καὶ υἱῶν τῶν βασιλέων καὶ ἐν ὠσὶ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων καὶ ἐν ὠσὶ παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ, ἀπὸ μικροῦ ἕως μεγάλου, πάντων τῶν κατοικούντων ἐν Βαβυλῶνι ἐπὶ ποταμοῦ Σούδ.	and in the hearing of the nobles, and of the king's sons, and in the hearing of the elders, and of all the people, from the lowest unto the highest, even of all them that dwelt at Babylon by the river Sud.

καὶ ἔκλαιον καὶ ἐνήστευον καὶ ηὔχοντο ἐναντίον Κυρίου	Whereupon they wept, fasted, and prayed before the Lord.
6	6
καὶ συνήγαγον ἀργύριον, καθὰ ἑκάστου ἠδύνατο ἡ χείρ,	They made also a collection of money according to every man's power:

καὶ ἀπέστειλαν εἰς ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ πρὸς ᾿Ιωακεὶμ υἱὸν Χελκίου, υἱοῦ Σαλώμ, τὸν ἱερέα, καὶ πρὸς τοὺς ἱερεῖς καὶ πρὸς πάντα τὸν λαόν, τοὺς εὑρεθέντας μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ	and they sent it to Jerusalem unto Joachim the high priest, the son of Chelcias, son of Salom, and to the priests, and to all the people which were found with him at Jerusalem,

ἐν τῷ λαβεῖν αὐτὸν τὰ σκεύη οἴκου Κυρίου, τὰ ἐξενεχθέντα ἐκ τοῦ ναοῦ, ἀποστρέψαι εἰς γῆν ᾿Ιούδα, τῇ δεκάτῃ τοῦ Σειουάν, σκεύη ἀργυρᾶ, ἃ ἐποίησε Σεδεκίας υἱὸς ᾿Ιωσία βασιλεὺς ᾿Ιούδα	at the same time when he received the vessels of the house of the Lord, that were carried out of the temple, to return them into the land of Juda, the tenth day of the month Sivan, namely, silver vessels, which Sedecias the son of Josias king of Juda had made,

μετὰ τὸ ἀποικίσαι Ναβουχοδονόσορ βασιλέα Βαβυλῶνος τὸν ᾿Ιεχονίαν καὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας καὶ τοὺς δεσμώτας καὶ τοὺς δυνατοὺς καὶ τὸν λαὸν τῆς γῆς ἀπὸ ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ καὶ ἤγαγεν αὐτὸν εἰς Βαβυλῶνα·	after that Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon had carried away Jechonias, and the princes, and the captives, and the mighty men, and the people of the land, from Jerusalem, and brought them unto Babylon.

καὶ εἶπαν· ἰδοὺ ἀπεστείλαμεν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἀργύριον, καὶ ἀγοράσατε τοῦ ἀργυρίου ὁλοκαυτώματα καὶ περὶ ἁμαρτίας καὶ λίβανον καὶ ποιήσατε μάννα καὶ ἀνοίσατε ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν	And they said, Behold, we have sent you money to buy you burnt offerings, and sin offerings, and incense, and prepare ye manna, and offer upon the altar of the Lord our God;
11	11
καὶ προσεύξασθε περὶ τῆς ζωῆς Ναβουχοδονόσορ βασιλέως Βαβυλῶνος καὶ εἰς ζωὴν Βαλτάσαρ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ, ἵνα ὦσιν αἱ ἡμέραι αὐτῶν ὡς αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς.	and pray for the life of Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, and for the life of Balthasar his son, that their days may be upon earth as the days of heaven:
12	12
καὶ δώσει Κύριος ἰσχὺν ἡμῖν καὶ φωτίσει τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς ἡμῶν, καὶ ζησόμεθα ὑπὸ τὴν σκιὰν Ναβουχοδονόσορ βασιλέως Βαβυλῶνος καὶ ὑπὸ τὴν σκιὰν Βαλτάσαρ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ δουλεύσομεν αὐτοῖς ἡμέρας πολλὰς καὶ εὑρήσομεν χάριν ἐναντίον αὐτῶν.	and the Lord will give us strength, and lighten our eyes, and we shall live under the shadow of Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, and under the shadow of Balthasar his son, and we shall serve them many days, and find favour in their sight.
13	13
καὶ προσεύξασθε περὶ ἡμῶν πρὸς Κύριον τὸν Θεὸν ἡμῶν, ὅτι ἡμάρτομεν τῷ Κυρίῳ Θεῷ ἡμῶν, καὶ οὐκ ἀπέστρεψεν ὁ θυμὸς Κυρίου καὶ ἡ ὀργὴ αὐτοῦ ἀφ᾿ ἡμῶν ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης.	Pray for us also unto the Lord our God, for we have sinned against the Lord our God; and unto this day the fury of the Lord and his wrath is not turned from us.
14	14
καὶ ἀναγνώσεσθε τὸ βιβλίον τοῦτο, ὃ ἀπεστείλαμεν πρὸς ὑμᾶς, ἐξαγορεῦσαι ἐν οἴκῳ Κυρίου ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ἑορτῆς καὶ ἐν ἡμέραις καιροῦ,	And ye shall read this book which we have sent unto you, to make confession in the house of the Lord, upon the feasts and solemn days.
15	15
καὶ ἐρεῖτε· Τῷ Κυρίῳ Θεῷ ἡμῶν ἡ δικαιοσύνη, ἡμῖν δὲ αἰσχύνη τῶν προσώπων ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη, ἀνθρώπῳ ᾿Ιούδα καὶ τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ	And ye shall say, To the Lord our God belongeth righteousness, but unto us the confusion of faces, as it is come to pass this day, unto them of Juda, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem,

καὶ τοῖς βασιλεῦσιν ἡμῶν καὶ τοῖς ἄρχουσιν ἡμῶν καὶ τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν ἡμῶν καὶ τοῖς προφήταις ἡμῶν καὶ τοῖς πατράσιν ἡμῶν,	and to our kings, and to our princes, and to our priests, and to our prophets, and to our fathers:
17	17
ὧν ἡμάρτομεν ἔναντι Κυρίου	for we have sinned before the Lord,
18	18
καὶ ἠπειθήσαμεν αὐτῷ καὶ οὐκ ἠκούσαμεν τῆς φωνῆς Κυρίου Θεοῦ ἡμῶν πορεύεσθαι τοῖς προστάγμασι Κυρίου, οἷς ἔδωκε κατὰ πρόσωπον ἡμῶν.	and disobeyed him, and have not hearkened unto the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in the commandments that he gave us openly:
19	19
ἀπὸ τῆς ἡμέρας, ἧς ἐξήγαγε Κύριος τοὺς πατέρας ἡμῶν ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου, καὶ ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης ἤμεθα ἀπειθοῦντες πρὸς Κύριον Θεὸν ἡμῶν καὶ ἐσχεδιάζομεν πρὸς τὸ μὴ ἀκούειν τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ.	since the day that the Lord brought our forefathers out of the land of Egypt, unto this present day, we have been disobedient unto the Lord our God, and we have been negligent in not hearing his voice.
20	20
καὶ ἐκολλήθη εἰς ἡμᾶς τὰ κακὰ καὶ ἡ ἀρά, ἣν συνέταξε Κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ παιδὶ αὐτοῦ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ, ᾗ ἐξήγαγε τοὺς πατέρας ἡμῶν ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου δοῦναι ἡμῖν γῆν ρέουσαν γάλα καὶ μέλι ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη.	Wherefore the evils cleaved unto us, and the curse, which the Lord appointed by Moses his servant at the time that he brought our fathers out of the land of Egypt, to give us a land that floweth with milk and honey, like as it is to see this day.
21	21
καὶ οὐκ ἠκούσαμεν τῆς φωνῆς Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν κατὰ πάντας τοὺς λόγους τῶν προφητῶν, ὧν ἀπέστειλε πρὸς ἡμᾶς,	Nevertheless we have not hearkened unto the voice of the Lord our God, according unto all the words of the prophets, whom he sent unto us:
22	22
καὶ ᾠχόμεθα ἕκαστος ἐν διανοίᾳ καρδίας αὐτοῦ τῆς πονηρᾶς ἐργάζεσθαι θεοῖς ἑτέροις, ποιῆσαι τὰ κακὰ κατ᾿ ὀφθαλμοὺς Κυρίου Θεοῦ ἡμῶν.	but every man followed the imagination of his own wicked heart, to serve strange gods, and to do evil in the sight of the Lord our God.
Κεφάλαιο 2	Chapter 2

1	1
ΚΑΙ ἔστησε Κύριος τὸν λόγον αὐτοῦ, ὃν ἐλάλησεν ἐφ᾿ ἡμᾶς καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς δικαστὰς ἡμῶν τοὺς δικάσαντας τὸν ᾿Ισραὴλ καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς βασιλεῖς ἡμῶν, καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας ἡμῶν καὶ ἐπὶ ἄνθρωπον ᾿Ισραὴλ καὶ ᾿Ιούδα,	Therefore the Lord hath made good his word, which he pronounced against us, and against our judges that judged Israel, and against our kings, and against our princes, and against the men of Israel and Juda,
2	2
τοῦ ἀγαγεῖν ἐφ᾿ ἡμᾶς κακὰ μεγάλα, ἃ οὐκ ἐποίησεν ὑποκάτω παντὸς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καθὰ ἐποιήθη ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλήμ, κατὰ τὰ γεγραμμένα ἐν τῷ νόμῳ Μωυσῆ,	to bring upon us great plagues, such as never happened under the whole heaven, as it came to pass in Jerusalem, according to the things that were written in the law of Moses;

τοῦ φαγεῖν ἡμᾶς ἄνθρωπον σάρκας υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἄνθρωπον σάρκας θυγατρὸς αὐτοῦ.	that a man should eat the flesh of his own son, and the flesh of his own daughter.
4	4
καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοὺς ὑποχειρίους πάσαις ταῖς βασιλείαις ταῖς κύκλῳ ἡμῶν εἰς ὀνειδισμὸν καὶ εἰς ἄβατον ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς λαοῖς τοῖς κύκλῳ, οὗ διέσπειρεν αὐτοὺς Κύριος ἐκεῖ.	Moreover he hath delivered them to be in subjection to all the kingdoms that are round about us, to be as a reproach and desolation among all the people round about, where the Lord hath scattered them.

καὶ ἐγενήθησαν ὑποκάτω καὶ οὐκ ἐπάνω, ὅτι ἡμάρτομεν Κυρίῳ Θεῷ ἡμῶν πρὸς τὸ μὴ ἀκούειν τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ.	Thus we were cast down, and not exalted, because we have sinned against the Lord our God, and have not been obedient unto his voice.
6	6
τῷ Κυρίῳ Θεῷ ἡμῶν ἡ δικαιοσύνη, ἡμῖν δὲ καὶ τοῖς πατράσιν ἡμῶν ἡ αἰσχύνη τῶν προσώπων ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη.	To the Lord our God appertaineth righteousness: but unto us and to our fathers open shame, as appeareth this day.
7	7
ἃ ἐλάλησε Κύριος ἐφ᾿ ἡμᾶς, πάντα τὰ κακὰ ταῦτα ἦλθεν ἐφ᾿ ἡμᾶς.	For all these plagues are come upon us, which the Lord hath pronounced against us.
8	8
καὶ οὐκ ἐδεήθημεν τοῦ προσώπου Κυρίου τοῦ ἀποστρέψαι ἕκαστον ἀπὸ τῶν νοημάτων τῆς καρδίας αὐτῶν τῆς πονηρᾶς.	Yet have we not prayed before the Lord, that we might turn every one from the imaginations of his wicked heart.
9	9
καὶ ἐγρηγόρησε Κύριος ἐπὶ τοῖς κακοῖς, καὶ ἐπήγαγε Κύριος ἐφ᾿ ἡμᾶς, ὅτι δίκαιος ὁ Κύριος ἐπὶ πάντα τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ, ἃ ἐνετείλατο ἡμῖν.	Wherefore the Lord watched over us for evil, and the Lord hath brought it upon us: for the Lord is righteous in all his works which he hath commanded us.
10	10
καὶ οὐκ ἠκούσαμεν τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ πορεύεσθαι τοῖς προστάγμασι Κυρίου, οἷς ἔδωκε κατὰ πρόσωπον ἡμῶν. —	Yet we have not hearkened unto his voice, to walk in the commandments of the Lord, that he hath set before us.
11	11
Καὶ νῦν, Κύριε ὁ Θεὸς ᾿Ισραήλ, ὃς ἐξήγαγες τὸν λαόν σου ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου ἐν χειρὶ κραταιᾷ καὶ ἐν σημείοις καὶ ἐν τέρασι καὶ ἐν δυνάμει μεγάλῃ καὶ ἐν βραχίονι ὑψηλῷ καὶ ἐποίησας σεαυτῷ ὄνομα ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη,	And now, O Lord God of Israel, that hast brought thy people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and high arm, and with signs, and with wonders, and with great power, and hast gotten thyself a name, as appeareth this day:
12	12
ἡμάρτομεν, ἠσεβήσαμεν, ἠδικήσαμεν, Κύριε ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν, ἐπὶ πᾶσι τοῖς δικαιώμασί σου.	O Lord our God, we have sinned, we have done ungodly, we have dealt unrighteously in all thine ordinances.
13	13
ἀποστραφήτω ὁ θυμός σου ἀφ᾿ ἡμῶν, ὅτι κατελείφθημεν ὀλίγοι ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν, οὗ διέσπειρας ἡμᾶς ἐκεῖ.	Let thy wrath turn from us: for we are but a few left among the heathen, where thou hast scattered us.
14	14
εἰσάκουσον, Κύριε, τῆς προσευχῆς ἡμῶν καὶ τῆς δεήσεως ἡμῶν καὶ ἐξελοῦ ἡμᾶς ἕνεκέν σου καὶ δὸς ἡμῖν χάριν κατὰ πρόσωπον τῶν ἀποικισάντων ἡμᾶς,	Hear our prayers, O Lord, and our petitions, and deliver us for thine own sake, and give us favour in the sight of them which have led us away:
15	15
ἵνα γνῷ πᾶσα ἡ γῆ, ὅτι σὺ Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν, ὅτι τὸ ὄνομά σου ἐπεκλήθη ἐπὶ ᾿Ισραὴλ καὶ ἐπὶ τὸ γένος αὐτοῦ.	that all the earth may know that thou art the Lord our God, because Israel and his posterity is called by thy name.
16	16
Κύριε, κάτιδε ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ ἁγίου σου καὶ ἐννόησον εἰς ἡμᾶς· καὶ κλίνον, Κύριε, τὸ οὖς σου καὶ ἄκουσον·	O Lord, look down from thine holy house, and consider us: bow down thine ear, O Lord, to hear us.
17	17
ἄνοιξον, Κύριε, ὀφθαλμούς σου καὶ ἰδέ, ὅτι οὐχ οἱ τεθνηκότες ἐν τῷ ᾅδῃ, ὧν ἐλήφθη τὸ πνεῦμα αὐτῶν ἀπὸ τῶν σπλάγχνων αὐτῶν, δώσουσι δόξαν καὶ δικαίωμα τῷ Κυρίῳ·	Open thine eyes, and behold; for the dead that are in the graves, whose souls are taken from their bodies, will give unto the Lord neither praise nor righteousness:
18	18
ἀλλὰ ἡ ψυχὴ ἡ λυπουμένη ἐπὶ τὸ μέγεθος, ὃ βαδίζει κύπτον καὶ ἀσθενοῦν καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ οἱ ἐκλείποντες καὶ ἡ ψυχὴ ἡ πεινῶσα δώσουσί σοι δόξαν καὶ δικαιοσύνην, Κύριε.	but the soul that is greatly vexed, which goeth stooping and feeble, and the eyes that fail, and the hungry soul, will give thee praise and righteousness, O Lord.
19	19
ὅτι οὐκ ἐπὶ τὰ δικαιώματα τῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν καὶ τῶν βασιλέων ἡμῶν ἡμεῖς καταβάλλομεν τὸν ἔλεον ἡμῶν κατὰ πρόσωπόν σου, Κύριε ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν,	Therefore we do not make our humble supplication before thee, O Lord our God, for the righteousness of our fathers, and of our kings,
20	20
ὅτι ἐνῆκας τὸν θυμόν σου καὶ τὴν ὀργήν σου ἐφ᾿ ἡμᾶς, καθάπερ ἐλάλησας ἐν χειρὶ τῶν παίδων σου τῶν προφητῶν λέγων·	for thou hast sent out thy wrath and indignation upon us, as thou hast spoken by thy servants the prophets, saying,
21	21
οὕτως εἶπε Κύριος· κλίνατε τὸν ὦμον ὑμῶν ἐργάσασθαι τῷ βασιλεῖ Βαβυλῶνος καὶ καθίσατε ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν, ἣν δέδωκα τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν·	Thus saith the Lord, Bow down your shoulders to serve the king of Babylon: so shall ye remain in the land that I gave unto your fathers.
22	22
καὶ ἐὰν μὴ ἀκούσητε τῆς φωνῆς Κυρίου ἐργάσασθαι τῷ βασιλεῖ Βαβυλῶνος,	But if ye will not hear the voice of the Lord, to serve the king of Babylon,
23	23
ἐκλείψειν ποιήσω ἐκ πόλεων ᾿Ιούδα καὶ ἔξωθεν ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ φωνὴν εὐφροσύνης καὶ φωνὴν χαρμοσύνης, φωνὴν νυμφίου καὶ φωνὴν νύμφης, καὶ ἔσται πᾶσα ἡ γῆ εἰς ἄβατον ἀπὸ ἐνοικούντων.	I will cause to cease out of the cities of Juda, and from without Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of joy, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: and the whole land shall be desolate of inhabitants.
24	24
καὶ οὐκ ἠκούσαμεν τῆς φωνῆς σου ἐργάσασθαι τῷ βασιλεῖ Βαβυλῶνος, καὶ ἔστησας τοὺς λόγους σου, οὓς ἐλάλησας ἐν χερσὶ τῶν παίδων σου τῶν προφητῶν, τοῦ ἐξενεχθῆναι τὰ ὀστᾶ βασιλέων ἡμῶν καὶ τὰ ὀστᾶ τῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν ἐκ τοῦ τόπου αὐτῶν,	But we would not hearken unto thy voice, to serve the king of Babylon: therefore hast thou made good the words that thou spakest by thy servants the prophets, namely, that the bones of our kings, and the bones of our fathers, should be taken out of their places.
25	25
καὶ ἰδού ἐστιν ἐξερριμμένα τῷ καύματι τῆς ἡμέρας καὶ τῷ παγετῷ τῆς νυκτός, καὶ ἀπεθάνοσαν ἐν πόνοις πονηροῖς, ἐν λιμῷ καὶ ἐν ρομφαίᾳ καὶ ἐν ἀποστολῇ.	And lo, they are cast out to the heat of the day, and to the frost of the night, and they died in great miseries by famine, by sword, and by pestilence.
26	26
καὶ ἔθηκας τὸν οἶκον, οὗ ἐπεκλήθη τὸ ὄνομά σου ἐπ᾿ αὐτῷ, ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη, διὰ πονηρίαν οἴκου ᾿Ισραὴλ καὶ οἴκου ᾿Ιούδα. —	And the house which is called by thy name hast thou laid waste, as it is to be seen this day, for the wickedness of the house of Israel and the house of Juda.
27	27
Καὶ ἐποίησας εἰς ἡμᾶς, Κύριε ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν, κατὰ πᾶσα ἐπιείκειάν σου καὶ κατὰ πάντα οἰκτιρμόν σου τὸν μέγαν,	O Lord our God, thou hast dealt with us after all thy goodness, and according to all that great mercy of thine,
28	28
καθὰ ἐλάλησας ἐν χειρὶ παιδός σου Μωυσῆ, ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ἐντειλαμένου σου αὐτῷ γράψαι τὸν νόμον σου ἐναντίον υἱῶν ᾿Ισραὴλ λέγων·	as thou spakest by thy servant Moses in the day when thou didst command him to write thy law before the children of Israel, saying,
29	29
ἐὰν μὴ ἀκούσητε τῆς φωνῆς μου, εἰ μὴν ἡ βόμβησις ἡ μεγάλη ἡ πολλὴ αὕτη ἀποστρέψει εἰς μικρὰν ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν, οὗ διασπερῶ αὐτοὺς ἐκεῖ·	If ye will not hear my voice, surely this very great multitude shall be turned into a small number among the nations, where I will scatter them.

ὅτι ἔγνων ὅτι οὐ μὴ ἀκούσωσί μου, ὅτι λαὸς σκληροτράχηλός ἐστι. καὶ ἐπιστρέψουσιν ἐπὶ καρδίαν αὐτῶν ἐν γῇ ἀποικισμοῦ αὐτῶν	For I knew that they would not hear me, because it is a stiffnecked people: but in the land of their captivities they shall remember themselves,

καὶ γνώσονται ὅτι ἐγὼ Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς αὐτῶν. καὶ δώσω αὐτοῖς καρδίαν καὶ ὦτα ἀκούοντα,	and shall know that I am the Lord their God: for I will give them an heart, and ears to hear:

καὶ αἰνέσουσί με ἐν γῇ ἀποικισμοῦ αὐτῶν καὶ μνησθήσονται τοῦ ὀνόματός μου	and they shall praise me in the land of their captivity, and think upon my name,

καὶ ἀποστρέψουσιν ἀπὸ τοῦ νώτου αὐτῶν τοῦ σκληροῦ καὶ ἀπὸ πονηρῶν πραγμάτων αὐτῶν, ὅτι μνησθήσονται τῆς ὁδοῦ πατέρων αὐτῶν τῶν ἁμαρτόντων ἔναντι Κυρίου.	and return from their stiff neck, and from their wicked deeds: for they shall remember the way of their fathers, which sinned before the Lord.

καὶ ἀποστρέψω αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἣν ὤμοσα τοῖς πατράσιν αὐτῶν, τῷ ῾Αβραὰμ καὶ τῷ ᾿Ισαὰκ καὶ τῷ ᾿Ιακώβ, καὶ κυριεύσουσιν αὐτῆς· καὶ πληθυνῶ αὐτούς, καὶ οὐ μὴ σμικρυνθῶσι·	And I will bring them again into the land which I promised with an oath unto their fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and they shall be lords of it: and I will increase them, and they shall not be diminished.

καὶ στήσω αὐτοῖς διαθήκην αἰώνιον τοῦ εἶναί με αὐτοῖς εἰς Θεὸν καὶ αὐτοὶ ἔσονταί μοι εἰς λαόν· καὶ οὐ κινήσω ἔτι τὸν λαόν μου ᾿Ισραὴλ ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς, ἧς ἔδωκα αὐτοῖς.	And I will make an everlasting covenant with them to be their God, and they shall be my people: and I will no more drive my people of Israel out of the land that I have given them.
Κεφάλαιο 3	Chapter 3

ΚΥΡΙΕ παντοκράτωρ ὁ Θεὸς ᾿Ισραήλ, ψυχὴ ἐν στενοῖς καὶ πνεῦμα ἀκηδιῶν κέκραγε πρός σε.	O Lord Almighty, God of Israel, the soul in anguish, the troubled spirit, crieth unto thee.

ἄκουσον, Κύριε, καὶ ἐλέησον, ὅτι ἡμάρτομεν ἐναντίον σου,	Hear, O Lord, and have mercy; for thou art merciful: and have pity upon us, because we have sinned before thee.
3	3
ὅτι σὺ καθήμενος τὸν αἰῶνα, καὶ ἡμεῖς ἀπολλύμενοι τὸν αἰῶνα.	For thou endurest for ever, and we perish utterly.
4	4
Κύριε παντοκράτωρ ὁ Θεὸς ᾿Ισραήλ, ἄκουσον δὴ τῆς προσευχῆς τῶν τεθνηκότων ᾿Ισραὴλ καὶ υἱῶν τῶν ἁμαρτανόντων ἐναντίον σου, οἳ οὐκ ἤκουσαν τῆς φωνῆς Κυρίου Θεοῦ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐκολλήθη ἡμῖν τὰ κακά.	O Lord Almighty, thou God of Israel, hear now the prayers of the dead Israelites, and of their children, which have sinned before thee, and not hearkened unto the voice of thee their God: for the which cause these plagues cleave unto us.

μὴ μνησθῇς ἀδικιῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν, ἀλλὰ μνήσθητι χειρός σου καὶ ὀνόματός σου ἐν τῷ καιρῷ τούτῳ·	Remember not the iniquities of our forefathers: but think upon thy power and thy name now at this time.

ὅτι σὺ Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν, καὶ αἰνέσομέν σε, Κύριε.	For thou art the Lord our God, and thee, O Lord, will we praise.

ὅτι διὰ τοῦτο ἔδωκας τὸν φόβον σου ἐπί καρδίαν ἡμῶν τοῦ ἐπικαλεῖσθαι τὸ ὄνομά σου. καὶ αἰνέσομέν σε ἐν τῇ ἀποικίᾳ ἡμῶν, ὅτι ἀπεστρέψαμεν ἀπὸ καρδίας ἡμῶν πᾶσαν ἀδικίαν πατέρων ἡμῶν τῶν ἡμαρτηκότων ἐναντίον σου.	And for this cause thou hast put thy fear in our hearts, to the intent that we should call upon thy name, and praise thee in our captivity: for we have called to mind all the iniquity of our forefathers, that sinned before thee.

ἰδοὺ ἡμεῖς σήμερον ἐν τῇ ἀποικίᾳ ἡμῶν, οὗ διέσπειρας ἡμᾶς ἐκεῖ εἰς ὀνειδισμὸν καὶ εἰς ἀρὰν καὶ εἰς ὄφλησιν κατὰ πάσας τὰς ἀδικίας πατέρων ἡμῶν, οἳ ἀπέστησαν ἀπὸ Κυρίου Θεοῦ ἡμῶν.	Behold, we are yet this day in our captivity, where thou hast scattered us, for a reproach and a curse, and to be subject to payments, according to all the iniquities of our fathers, which departed from the Lord our God.

῎Ακουε ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐντολὰς ζωῆς, ἐνωτίσασθε γνῶναι φρόνησιν.	Hear, Israel, the commandments of life: give ear to understand wisdom.

τί ἐστιν ᾿Ισραήλ; τί ὅτι ἐν γῇ τῶν ἐχθρῶν εἶ; ἐπαλαιώθης ἐν γῇ ἀλλοτρίᾳ, συνεμιάνθης τοῖς νεκροῖς,	How happeneth it, Israel, that thou art in thine enemies' land, that thou art waxen old in a strange country, that thou art defiled with the dead,

προσελογίσθης μετὰ τῶν εἰς ᾅδου;	that thou art counted with them that go down into the grave?
12	12
ἐγκατέλιπες τὴν πηγὴν τῆς σοφίας.	Thou hast forsaken the fountain of wisdom.

τῇ ὁδῷ τοῦ Θεοῦ εἰ ἐπορεύθης, κατῴκεις ἂν ἐν εἰρήνῃ τὸν αἰῶνα.	For if thou hadst walked in the way of God, thou shouldest have dwelled in peace for ever.
14	14
μάθε ποῦ ἐστι φρόνησις, ποῦ ἐστιν ἰσχύς, ποῦ ἐστι σύνεσις τοῦ γνῶναι ἅμα ποῦ ἐστι μακροβίωσις καὶ ζωή, ποῦ ἐστι φῶς ὀφθαλμῶν καὶ εἰρήνη. —	Learn where is wisdom, where is strength, where is understanding; that thou mayest know also where is length of days, and life, where is the light of the eyes, and peace.

Τίς εὗρε τὸν τόπον αὐτῆς καὶ τίς εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τοὺς θησαυροὺς αὐτῆς;	Who hath found out her place? or who hath come into her treasures?
16	16
ποῦ εἰσιν οἱ ἄρχοντες τῶν ἐθνῶν καὶ οἱ κυριεύοντες τῶν θηρίων τῶν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς,	Where are the princes of the heathen, and such as ruled the beasts upon the earth;
17	17
οἱ ἐν τοῖς ὀρνέοις τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἐμπαίζοντες καὶ τὸ ἀργύριον θησαυρίζοντες καὶ τὸ χρυσίον, ᾧ ἐπεποίθεισαν ἄνθρωποι, καὶ οὐκ ἔστι τέλος τῆς κτήσεως αὐτῶν,	they that had their pastime with the fowls of the air, and they that hoarded up silver and gold, wherein men trust, and made no end of their getting?
18	18
οἱ τὸ ἀργύριον τεκταίνοντες καὶ μεριμνῶντες, καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἐξεύρεσις τῶν ἔργων αὐτῶν;	For they that wrought in silver, and were so careful, and whose works are unsearchable,

ἠφανίσθησαν καὶ εἰς ᾅδου κατέβησαν, καὶ ἄλλοι ἀντανέστησαν ἀντ᾿ αὐτῶν.	they are vanished and gone down to the grave, and others are come up in their stead.
20	20
νεώτεροι εἶδον φῶς καὶ κατῴκησαν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, ὁδὸν δὲ ἐπιστήμης οὐκ ἔγνωσαν,	Young men have seen light, and dwelt upon the earth; but the way of knowledge have they not known,
21	21
οὐδὲ συνῆκαν τρίβους αὐτῆς, οὐδὲ ἀντελάβοντο αὐτῆς· οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτῶν ἀπὸ τῆς ὁδοῦ αὐτῶν πόρρω ἐγενήθησαν,	nor understood the paths thereof, nor laid hold of it: their children were far off from that way.

οὐδὲ ἠκούσθη ἐν Χαναάν, οὐδὲ ὤφθη ἐν Θαιμάν,	It hath not been heard of in Chanaan, neither hath it been seen in Theman.

οὔτε υἱοὶ ῎Αγαρ, οἱ ἐκζητοῦντες τὴν σύνεσιν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, οἱ ἔμποροι τῆς Μερρὰν καὶ Θαιμάν, οἱ μυθολόγοι καὶ οἱ ἐκζητηταὶ τῆς συνέσεως, ὁδὸν τῆς σοφίας οὐκ ἔγνωσαν, οὐδὲ ἐμνήσθησαν τὰς τρίβους αὐτῆς. —	The Agarenes that seek wisdom upon earth, the merchants of Meran and of Theman, the authors of fables, and searchers out of understanding; none of these have known the way of wisdom, or remembered her paths.

῏Ω ᾿Ισραήλ, ὡς μέγας ὁ οἶκος τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ ἐπιμήκης ὁ τόπος τῆς κτήσεως αὐτοῦ·	O Israel, how great is the house of God! and how large is the place of his possession!
25	25
μέγας καὶ οὐκ ἔχει τελευτήν, ὑψηλὸς καὶ ἀμέτρητος.	Great, and hath none end; high, and unmeasurable.
26	26
ἐκεῖ ἐγεννήθησαν οἱ γίγαντες οἱ ὀνομαστοὶ οἱ ἀπ᾿ ἀρχῆς, γενόμενοι εὐμεγέθεις, ἐπιστάμενοι πόλεμον.	There were the giants famous from the beginning, that were of so great stature, and so expert in war.
27	27
οὐ τούτους ἐξελέξατο ὁ Θεὸς οὐδὲ ὁδὸν ἐπιστήμης ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς·	Those did not the Lord choose, neither gave he the way of knowledge unto them:
28	28
καὶ ἀπώλοντο παρὰ τὸ μὴ ἔχειν φρόνησιν, ἀπώλοντο διὰ τὴν ἀβουλίαν αὐτῶν. —	but they were destroyed, because they had no wisdom, and perished through their own foolishness.
29	29
Τίς ἀνέβη εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ ἔλαβεν αὐτὴν καὶ κατεβίβασεν αὐτὴν ἐκ τῶν νεφελῶν;	Who hath gone up into heaven, and taken her, and brought her down from the clouds?
30	30
τίς διέβη πέραν τῆς θαλάσσης καὶ εὗρεν αὐτὴν καὶ οἴσει αὐτὴν χρυσίου ἐκλεκτοῦ;	Who hath gone over the sea, and found her, and will bring her for pure gold?
31	31
οὐκ ἔστιν ὁ γινώσκων τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτῆς οὐδὲ ὁ ἐνθυμούμενος τὴν τρίβον αὐτῆς·	No man knoweth her way, nor thinketh of her path.

ἀλλ᾿ ὁ εἰδὼς τὰ πάντα γινώσκει αὐτήν, ἐξεῦρεν αὐτὴν τῇ συνέσει αὐτοῦ· ὁ κατασκευάσας τὴν γῆν εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα χρόνον, ἐνέπλησεν αὐτὴν κτηνῶν τετραπόδων·	But he that knoweth all things knoweth her, and hath found her out with his understanding: he that prepared the earth for evermore hath filled it with fourfooted beasts:

ὁ ἀποστέλλων τὸ φῶς, καὶ πορεύεται, ἐκάλεσεν αὐτό, καὶ ὑπήκουσεν αὐτῷ τρόμῳ·	he that sendeth forth light, and it goeth, calleth it again, and it obeyeth him with fear.

οἱ δὲ ἀστέρες ἔλαμψαν ἐν ταῖς φυλακαῖς αὐτῶν καὶ εὐφράνθησαν.	The stars shined in their watches, and rejoiced: when he calleth them, they say, Here we be; and so with cheerfulness they shewed light unto him that made them.

ἐκάλεσεν αὐτοὺς καὶ εἶπον· πάρεσμεν, ἔλαμψαν μετ᾿ εὐφροσύνης τῷ ποιήσαντι αὐτούς.	This is our God, and there shall none other be accounted of in comparison of him.

οὗτος ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν, οὐ λογισθήσεται ἕτερος πρὸς αὐτόν.	He hath found out all the way of knowledge, and hath given it unto Jacob his servant, and to Israel his beloved.

ἐξεῦρε πᾶσαν ὁδὸν ἐπιστήμης καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὴν ᾿Ιακὼβ τῷ παιδὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ᾿Ισραὴλ τῷ ἠγαπημένῳ ὑπ᾿ αὐτοῦ·	Afterward did he shew himself upon earth, and conversed with men.

μετὰ τοῦτο ἐπὶ γῆς ὤφθη καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἀνθρώποις συνανεστράφη.
Κεφάλαιο 4	Chapter 4

ΑΥΤΗ ἡ βίβλος τῶν προσταγμάτων τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ ὁ νόμος ὁ ὑπάρχων εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα· πάντες οἱ κρατοῦντες αὐτὴν εἰς ζωήν, οἱ δὲ καταλείποντες αὐτὴν ἀποθανοῦνται. —	This is the book of the commandments of God, and the law that endureth for ever: all they that keep it shall come to life; but such as leave it shall die.
2	2
᾿Επιστρέφου, ᾿Ιακώβ, καὶ ἐπιλαβοῦ αὐτῆς, διόδευσον πρὸς τὴν λάμψιν κατέναντι τοῦ φωτὸς αὐτῆς.	Turn thee, O Jacob, and take hold of it: walk in the presence of the light thereof, that thou mayest be illuminated.

μὴ δῷς ἑτέρῳ τὴν δόξαν σου καὶ τὰ συμφέροντά σοι ἔθνει ἀλλοτρίῳ.	Give not thine honour to another, nor the things that are profitable unto thee to a strange nation.

μακάριοί ἐσμεν ᾿Ισραήλ, ὅτι τὰ ἀρεστὰ τῷ Θεῷ ἡμῖν γνωστά ἐστι. —	O Israel, happy are we: for things that are pleasing to God are made known unto us.
5	5
Θαρσεῖτε λαός μου, μνημόσυνον ᾿Ισραήλ.	Be of good cheer, my people, the memorial of Israel.
6	6
ἐπράθητε τοῖς ἔθνεσιν οὐκ εἰς ἀπώλειαν, διὰ δὲ τὸ παροργίσαι ὑμᾶς τὸν Θεὸν παρεδόθητε τοῖς ὑπεναντίοις·	Ye were sold to the nations, not for your destruction: but because ye moved God to wrath, ye were delivered unto the enemies.

παρωξύνατε γὰρ τὸν ποιήσαντα ὑμᾶς θύσαντες δαιμονίοις καὶ οὐ Θεῷ.	For ye provoked him that made you by sacrificing unto devils and not to God.
8	8
ἐπελάθεσθε τὸν τροφεύσαντα ὑμᾶς Θεὸν αἰώνιον, ἐλυπήσατε δὲ καὶ τὴν ἐκθρέψασαν ὑμᾶς ῾Ιερουσαλήμ·	Ye have forgotten the everlasting God, that brought you up; and ye have grieved Jerusalem, that nursed you.

εἶδε γὰρ τὴν ἐπελθοῦσαν ὑμῖν ὀργὴν παρὰ τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ εἶπεν· ἀκούσατε, οἱ πάροικοι Σιών, ἐπήγαγέ μοι ὁ Θεὸς πένθος μέγα·	For when she saw the wrath of God coming upon you, she said, Hearken, O ye that dwell about Sion: God hath brought upon me great mourning;

εἶδον γὰρ τὴν αἰχμαλωσίαν τῶν υἱῶν μου καὶ τῶν θυγατέρων μου, ἣν ἐπήγαγεν αὐτοῖς ὁ αἰώνιος.	for I saw the captivity of my sons and daughters, which the Everlasting brought upon them.
11	11
ἔθρεψα γὰρ αὐτοὺς μετ᾿ εὐφροσύνης, ἐξαπέστειλα δὲ μετὰ κλαυθμοῦ καὶ πένθους.	With joy did I nourish them; but sent them away with weeping and mourning.
12	12
μηδεὶς ἐπιχαιρέτω μοι τῇ χήρᾳ καὶ καταλειφθείσῃ ὑπὸ πολλῶν· ἠρημώθην διὰ τὰς ἁμαρτίας τῶν τέκνων μου, διότι ἐξέκλιναν ἐκ νόμου Θεοῦ,	Let no man rejoice over me, a widow, and forsaken of many, who for the sins of my children am left desolate; because they departed from the law of God.

δικαιώματα δὲ αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἔγνωσαν οὐδὲ ἐπορεύθησαν ὁδοῖς ἐντολῶν Θεοῦ, οὐδὲ τρίβους παιδείας ἐν δικαιοσύνη αὐτοῦ ἐπέβησαν.	They knew not his statutes, nor walked in the ways of his commandments, nor trod in the paths of discipline in his righteousness.

ἐλθέτωσαν αἱ πάροικοι Σιών, καὶ μνήσθητε τὴν αἰχμαλωσίαν τῶν υἱῶν μου καὶ θυγατέρων, ἣν ἐπήγαγεν αὐτοῖς ὁ αἰώνιος·	Let them that dwell about Sion come, and remember ye the captivity of my sons and daughters, which the Everlasting hath brought upon them.
15	15
ἐπήγαγε γὰρ ἐπ᾿ αὐτοὺς ἔθνος μακρόθεν, ἔθνος ἀναιδὲς καὶ ἀλλόγλωσσον, οἳ οὐκ ᾐσχύνθησαν πρεσβύτην οὐδὲ παιδίον ἠλέησαν	For he hath brought a nation upon them from far, a shameless nation, and of a strange language, who neither reverenced old man, nor pitied child,

καὶ ἀπήγαγον τοὺς ἀγαπητοὺς τῆς χήρας καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν θυγατέρων τὴν μόνην ἠρήμωσαν.	and they have carried away the dear beloved children of the widow, and left her that was alone desolate without daughters.

ἐγὼ δὲ τί δυνατὴ βοηθῆσαι ὑμῖν;	But what can I help you?
18	18
ὁ γὰρ ἐπαγαγὼν τὰ κακὰ ὑμῖν ἐξελεῖται ὑμᾶς ἐκ χειρὸς ἐχθρῶν ὑμῶν.	For he that brought these plagues upon you will deliver you from the hands of your enemies.
19	19
βαδίζετε, τέκνα, βαδίζετε, ἐγὼ γὰρ κατελήφθην ἔρημος·	Go your way, O my children, go your way: for I am left desolate.
20	20
ἐξεδυσάμην τὴν στολὴν τῆς εἰρήνης, ἐνεδυσάμην δὲ σάκκον τῆς δεήσεώς μου, κεκράξομαι πρὸς τὸν αἰώνιον ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις μου. —	I have put off the clothing of peace, and put upon me the sackcloth of my prayer: I will cry unto the Everlasting in my days.

Θαρρεῖτε, τέκνα, βοήσατε πρὸς τὸ Θεόν, καὶ ἐξελεῖται ὑμᾶς ἐκ δυναστείας, ἐκ χειρὸς ἐχθρῶν.	Be of good cheer, O my children, cry unto the Lord, and he shall deliver you from the power and hand of the enemies.
22	22
ἐγὼ γὰρ ἤλπισα ἐπὶ τῷ αἰωνίῳ τὴν σωτηρίαν ὑμῶν, καὶ ἦλθέ μοι χαρὰ παρὰ τοῦ ἁγίου ἐπὶ τῇ ἐλεημοσύνῃ, ἣ ἥξει ὑμῖν ἐν τάχει παρὰ τοῦ αἰωνίου σωτῆρος ὑμῶν.	For my hope is in the Everlasting, that he will save you: and joy is come unto me from the Holy One, because of the mercy which shall soon come unto you from the Everlasting your Saviour.

ἐξέπεμψα γὰρ ὑμᾶς μετὰ κλαυθμοῦ καὶ πένθους, ἀποδώσει δέ μοι ὁ Θεὸς ὑμᾶς μετὰ χαρμοσύνης καὶ εὐφροσύνης εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα.	For I sent you out with mourning and weeping: but God will give you to me again with joy and gladness for ever.
24	24
ὥσπερ γὰρ νῦν ἑωράκασιν αἱ πάροικοι Σιὼν τὴν ὑμετέραν αἰχμαλωσίαν, οὕτως ὄψονται ἐν τάχει τὴν παρὰ τοῦ Θεοῦ ὑμῶν σωτηρίαν, ἣ ἐπελεύσεται ὑμῖν μετὰ δόξης μεγάλης καὶ λαμπρότητος τοῦ αἰωνίου.	Like as now the neighbours of Sion have seen your captivity: so shall they see shortly your salvation from your God, which shall come upon you with great glory, and brightness of the Everlasting.

τέκνα, μακροθυμήσατε τὴν παρὰ τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐπελθοῦσαν ὑμῖν ὀργήν· κατεδίωξέ σε ὁ ἐχθρός σου, καὶ ὄψει αὐτοῦ τὴν ἀπώλειαν ἐν τάχει καὶ ἐπὶ τραχήλους αὐτῶν ἐπιβήσῃ.	My children, suffer patiently the wrath that is come upon you from God: for thine enemy hath persecuted thee; but shortly thou shalt see his destruction, and shalt tread upon his neck.

οἱ τρυφεροί μου ἐπορεύθησαν ὁδοὺς τραχείας, ἤρθησαν ὡς ποίμνιον ἡρπασμένον ὑπὸ ἐχθρῶν. —	My delicate ones have gone rough ways, and were taken away as a flock caught of the enemies.
27	27
Θαρσήσατε τέκνα καὶ βοήσατε πρὸς τὸν Θεόν, ἔσται γὰρ ὑμῶν ὑπὸ τοῦ ἐπάγοντος μνεία.	Be of good comfort, O my children, and cry unto God: for ye shall be remembered of him that brought these things upon you.

ὥσπερ γὰρ ἐγένετο ἡ διάνοια ὑμῶν εἰς τὸ πλανηθῆναι ἀπὸ τοῦ Θεοῦ, δεκαπλασιάσατε ἐπιστραφέντες ζητῆσαι αὐτόν.	For as it was your mind to go astray from God: so, being returned, seek him ten times more.

ὁ γὰρ ἐπαγαγὼν ὑμῖν τὰ κακὰ ἐπάξει ὑμῖν τὴν αἰώνιον εὐφροσύνην μετὰ τῆς σωτηρίας ὑμῶν. —	For he that hath brought these plagues upon you shall bring you everlasting joy again with your salvation.
30	30
Θάρσει ῾Ιερουσαλήμ, παρακαλέσει σε ὁ ὀνομάσας σε.	Take a good heart, O Jerusalem: for he that gave thee that name will comfort thee.
31	31
δείλαιοι οἱ σὲ κακώσαντες καὶ ἐπιχαρέντες τῇ σῇ πτώσει,	Miserable are they that afflicted thee, and rejoiced at thy fall.
32	32
δείλαιαι αἱ πόλεις, αἷς ἐδούλευσαν τὰ τέκνα σου, δειλαία ἡ δεξαμένη τοὺς υἱούς σου.	Miserable are the cities which thy children served: miserable is she that received thy sons.
33	33
ὥσπερ γὰρ ἐχάρη ἐπὶ τῇ σῇ πτώσει καὶ εὐφράνθη ἐπὶ τῷ πτώματί σου, οὕτως λυπηθήσεται ἐπὶ τῇ ἑαυτῆς ἐρημίᾳ.	For as she rejoiced at thy ruin, and was glad of thy fall: so shall she be grieved for her own desolation.
34	34
καὶ περιελῶ αὐτῆς τὸ ἀγαλλίαμα τῆς πολυοχλίας καὶ τὸ ἀγαυρίαμα αὐτῆς ἔσται εἰς πένθος.	For I will take away the rejoicing of her great multitude, and her pride shall be turned into mourning.
35	35
πῦρ γὰρ ἐπελεύσεται αὐτῇ παρὰ τοῦ αἰωνίου εἰς ἡμέρας μακράς, καὶ κατοικηθήσεται ὑπὸ δαιμονίων τὸν πλείονα χρόνον. —	For fire shall come upon her from the Everlasting, long to endure; and she shall be inhabited of devils for a great time.
36	36
Περίβλεψον πρὸς ἀνατολάς, ῾Ιερουσαλήμ, καὶ ἴδε τὴν εὐφροσύνην τὴν παρὰ τοῦ Θεοῦ σοι ἐρχομένην.	O Jerusalem, look about thee toward the east, and behold the joy that cometh unto thee from God.
37	37
ἰδοὺ ἔρχονται οἱ υἱοί σου, οὓς ἐξαπέστειλας, ἔρχονται συνηγμένοι ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν ἕως δυσμῶν τῷ ρήματι τοῦ ἁγίου χαίροντες τῇ τοῦ Θεοῦ δόξῃ.	Lo, thy sons come, whom thou sentest away, they come gathered together from the east to the west by the word of the Holy One, rejoicing in the glory of God.
Κεφάλαιο 5	Chapter 5

1	1
ΕΚΔΥΣΑΙ, ῾Ιερουσαλήμ, τὴν στολὴν τοῦ πένθους καὶ τῆς κακώσεώς σου καὶ ἔνδυσαι τὴν εὐπρέπειαν τῆς παρὰ τοῦ Θεοῦ δόξης εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα.	Put off, O Jerusalem, the garment of thy mourning and affliction, and put on the comeliness of the glory that cometh from God for ever.
2	2
περιβαλοῦ τὴν διπλοΐδα τῆς παρὰ τοῦ Θεοῦ δικαιοσύνης, ἐπίθου τὴν μίτραν ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλήν σου τῆς δόξης τοῦ αἰωνίου.	Cast about thee a double garment of the righteousness which cometh from God; and set a diadem on thine head of the glory of the Everlasting.
3	3
ὁ γὰρ Θεὸς δείξει τῇ ὑπ᾿ οὐρανὸν πάσῃ τὴν σὴν λαμπρότητα.	For God will shew thy brightness unto every country under heaven.
4	4
κληθήσεται γάρ σου τὸ ὄνομα παρὰ τοῦ Θεοῦ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα· Εἰρήνη δικαιοσύνης καὶ δόξα θεοσεβείας. —	For thy name shall be called of God for ever The peace of righteousness, and The glory of God's worship.
5	5
᾿Ανάστηθι, ῾Ιερουσαλήμ, καὶ στῆθι ἐπὶ τοῦ ὑψηλοῦ καὶ περίβλεψαι πρὸς ἀνατολὰς καὶ ἴδε συνηγμένα τὰ τέκνα σου ἀπὸ ἡλίου δυσμῶν ἕως ἀνατολῶν τῷ ρήματι τοῦ ἁγίου χαίροντας τῇ τοῦ Θεοῦ μνείᾳ.	Arise, O Jerusalem, and stand on high, and look about toward the east, and behold thy children gathered from the west unto the east by the word of the Holy One, rejoicing in the remembrance of God.
6	6
ἐξῆλθον γὰρ παρὰ σοῦ πεζοὶ ἀγόμενοι ὑπὸ ἐχθρῶν, εἰσάγει δὲ αὐτοὺς ὁ Θεὸς πρὸς σὲ αἰρομένους μετὰ δόξης ὡς θρόνον βασιλείας.	For they departed from thee on foot, and were led away of their enemies: but God bringeth them unto thee exalted with glory, as children of the kingdom.
7	7
συνέταξε γὰρ ὁ Θεὸς ταπεινοῦσθαι πᾶν ὄρος ὑψηλὸν καὶ θῖνας ἀεννάους καὶ φάραγγας πληροῦσθαι εἰς ὁμαλισμὸν τῆς γῆς, ἵνα βαδίσῃ ᾿Ισραὴλ ἀσφαλῶς τῇ τοῦ Θεοῦ δόξῃ·	For God hath appointed that every high hill, and banks of long continuance, should be cast down, and vallies filled up, to make even the ground, that Israel may go safely in the glory of God.
8	8
ἐσκίασαν δὲ καὶ οἱ δρυμοὶ καὶ πᾶν ξύλον εὐωδίας τῷ ᾿Ισραὴλ προστάγματι τοῦ Θεοῦ·	Moreover even the woods and every sweetsmelling tree shall overshadow Israel by the commandment of God.
9	9
ἡγήσεται γὰρ ὁ Θεὸς ᾿Ισραὴλ μετ᾿ εὐφροσύνης τῷ φωτὶ τῆς δόξης αὐτοῦ σὺν ἐλεημοσύνῃ καὶ δικαιοσύνῃ τῇ παρ᾿ αὐτοῦ.	For God shall lead Israel with joy in the light of his glory with the mercy and righteousness that cometh from him.
