И бы́сть по сконча́ніи Іису́совѣ, и вопроша́ху сы́нове Ізра́илевы Го́спода, глаго́люще: кто́ взы́детъ на́мъ къ Ханане́ю воєво́да, ра́товати на ни́хъ?

And it came to pass after the death of Joshua, that the children of Israel enquired of the Lord, saying, Who shall go up for us first against the Chananites, to fight against them?

И рече́ Госпо́дь: Іу́да взы́детъ: се́, да́хъ зе́млю въ ру́ку єго́.

And the Lord said, Judas shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.

И рече́ Іу́да къ Симео́ну бра́ту своєму́: взы́ди со мно́ю въ жре́бій мо́й, и ополчи́мся на Ханане́а: и пойду́ и а́зъ съ тобо́ю въ жре́бій тво́й. И по́йде съ ни́мъ Симео́нъ.

And Judas said to his brother Symeon, Come up with me into my lot, and let us array ourselves against the Chananites, and I also will go with thee into thy lot: and Symeon went with him.

И взы́де Іу́да, и предаде́ Госпо́дь Ханане́а и Ферезе́а въ ру́цѣ и́хъ: и изби́ша и́хъ въ везе́цѣ до десяти́ ты́сящъ муже́й.

And Judas went up; and the Lord delivered the Chananite and the Pherezite into their hands, and they smote them in Bezek to the number of ten thousand men.

И обрѣто́ша Адонівезе́ка въ Везе́цѣ, и сѣко́шася съ ни́мъ: и изби́ша Ханане́а и Ферезе́а.

And they overtook Adonibezek in Bezek, and fought against him; and they smote the Chananite and the Pherezite.

И побѣже́ Адонівезе́къ: и гна́ша вслѣ́дъ єго́, и я́ша єго́, и отсѣко́ша краи́ ру́къ єго́ и краи́ но́гъ єго́.

And Adonibezek fled, and they pursued after him, and took him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.

И рече́ Адонівезе́къ: седми́десяти царе́мъ обсѣко́хъ краи́ ру́къ и́хъ и краи́ но́гъ и́хъ, и бы́ша собира́юще [от крупи́цъ] подъ трапе́зою моє́ю: я́коже у́бо сотвори́хъ, та́ко воздаде́ ми Бо́гъ. И приведо́ша єго́ во Ієрусали́мъ, и у́мре та́мо.

And Adonibezek said, Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered their food under my table: as I therefore have done, so God has recompensed me: and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.

И воєва́ша сы́нове Іу́дины на Ієрусали́мъ, и взя́ша єго́, и порази́ша єго́ о́стріємъ меча́, и гра́дъ сожго́ша огне́мъ.

And the children of Judas fought against Jerusalem, and took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and they burnt the city with fire.

И по си́хъ снидо́ша сы́нове Іу́дины воєва́ти на Ханане́а живу́щаго въ го́рнѣй къ ю́гу и въ ра́внѣй.

And afterwards the children of Judas went down to fight with the Chananite dwelling in the hill country, and the south, and the plain country.

И по́йде Іу́да на Ханане́а живу́щаго въ Хевро́нѣ. И изы́де Хевро́нъ со страны́: и́мя же бѣ́ Хевро́ну пре́жде Каріаѳарво́къ-се́феръ: и уби́ша Сесі́на и Ахіма́на и Ѳолмі́а, ро́ды Єна́ковы.

And Judas went to the Chananite who dwelt in Chebron; and Chebron came out against him; and the name of Chebron before was Cariatharbocsepher: and they smote Sessi, and Achiman, and Tholmi, children of Enac.

И взыдо́ша отту́ду къ живу́щымъ въ даві́рѣ: и́мя же даві́ру бѣ́ пре́жде каріаѳсе́феръ, гра́дъ пи́сменъ.

And they went up thence to the inhabitants of Dabir; but the name of Dabir was before Cariathsepher, the city of Letters.

И рече́ Хале́въ: и́же а́ще порази́тъ гра́дъ пи́сменъ и во́зметъ єго́, да́мъ єму́ Асха́нь дще́рь мою́ въ жену́.

And Chaleb said, Whosoever shall smite the city of Letters, and shall first take it, I will give to him Ascha my daughter to wife.

И взя́ єго́ Гоѳоніи́лъ сы́нъ Кене́за бра́та Хале́вова юнѣ́йшій, и даде́ єму́ Хале́въ Асха́нь дще́рь свою́ въ жену́.

And Gothoniel the younger son of Kenez the brother of Chaleb took it; and Chaleb gave him his daughter Ascha to wife.

И бы́сть внегда́ отходи́ти є́й, и подви́же ю́ Гоѳоніи́лъ проси́ти у отца́ своєго́ села́, и ропта́ше [сѣдя́щи] на осля́ти, и вопія́ше со осля́ти: на зе́млю ю́жную отда́лъ мя́ єси́. И рече́ є́й хале́въ: что́ ти є́сть?

And it came to pass as she went in, that Gothoniel urged her to ask a field of her father; and she murmured and cried from off her ass, Thou hast sent me forth into a south land: and Chaleb said to her, What is thy request?

И рече́ єму́ Асха́нь: да́ждь ми́ благослове́ніє: я́ко на зе́млю ю́жную отда́лъ єси́ мя́, да да́си мнѣ́ и исхо́дища водна́я. И даде́ є́й хале́въ по се́рдцу єя́ исхо́дища вы́шнихъ и исхо́дища ни́жнихъ.

And Ascha said to him, Give me, I pray thee, a blessing, for thou hast sent me forth into a south land, and thou shalt give me the ransom of water: and Chaleb gave her according to her heart the ransom of the upper springs and the ransom of the low springs.

И сы́нове Іоѳо́ра кіне́єва, у́жика Моисе́ова, взыдо́ша от гра́да Фіні́ческа къ сыно́мъ Іу́динымъ въ пусты́ню су́щую на ю́гъ Іу́ды ко исхо́ду Аредо́ву, и поидо́ша, и всели́шася съ людьми́.

And the children of Jothor the Kenite the father-in-law of Moses went up from the city of palm-trees with the children of Judas, to the wilderness that is in the south of Juda, which is at the descent of Arad, and they dwelt with the people.

И по́йде Іу́да съ Симео́номъ бра́томъ свои́мъ, и изби́ Ханане́а живу́щаго въ сефе́ѳѣ, и потреби́ша єго́: и прозва́ша и́мя гра́ду потребле́ніє.

And Judas went with Symeon his brother, and smote the Chananite that inhabited Sepheth, and they utterly destroyed them; and they called the name of the city Anathema.

И взя́ Іу́да Га́зу и предѣ́лъ єя́, и Аскало́на и предѣ́лъ єго́, и аккаро́нъ и предѣ́лъ єго́, и азо́тъ и окре́стная єго́.

But Judas did not inherit Gaza nor her coasts, nor Ascalon nor her coasts, nor Accaron nor her coasts, nor Azotus nor the lands around it.

И бя́ше Госпо́дь со Іу́дою. И взя́ го́ру, я́ко не возмого́ша потреби́ти живу́щихъ во юдо́ли, зане́ риха́въ противоста́ и́мъ, и колесни́цы желѣ́зныя бя́ху ты́мъ.

And the Lord was with Judas, and he inherited the mountain; for they were not able to destroy the inhabitants of the valley, for Rechab prevented them.

И да́ша хале́ву Хевро́нъ, я́коже глаго́ла Моисе́й: и наслѣ́дствова та́мо три́ гра́ды сыно́въ єна́ковыхъ, и изгна́ отту́ду три́ сы́ны єна́ковы.

And they gave Chebron to Chaleb, as Moses said; and thence he inherited the three cities of the children of Enac.

И Ієвусе́а живу́щаго во Ієрусали́мѣ не изгна́ша сы́нове Веніамі́новы, и живя́ше Ієвусе́й съ сынми́ Веніамі́ни во Ієрусали́мѣ да́же до сего́ дне́.

But the children of Benjamin did not take the inheritance of the Jebusite who dwelt in Jerusalem; and the Jebusite dwelt with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem until this day.

И взыдо́ша сы́нове Іо́сифли и сі́и въ Веѳи́ль: и Госпо́дь бя́ше съ ни́ми.

And the sons of Joseph, they also went up to Bæthel; and the Lord was with them.

И ополчи́шася, и согля́даша [сы́нове Іо́сифовы] Веѳи́ль: и́мя же бѣ́ пре́жде гра́ду лу́за.

And they encamped and surveyed Bæthel: and the name of the city before was Luza.

И ви́дѣша стрегу́щіи му́жа исходя́щаго изъ гра́да, и я́ша єго́ и реко́ша єму́: покажи́ на́мъ вхо́дъ во гра́дъ, и сотвори́мъ съ тобо́ю ми́лость.

And the spies looked, and behold, a man went out of the city, and they took him; and they said to him, Shew us the way into the city, and we will deal mercifully with thee.

И показа́ и́мъ вхо́дъ гра́дный: и порази́ша гра́дъ о́стріємъ меча́, му́жа же и сро́дство єго́ отпусти́ша.

And he shewed them the way into the city; and they smote the city with the edge of the sword; but they let go the man and his family.

И отъи́де му́жъ въ зе́млю Хеттіи́мъ, и созда́ та́мо гра́дъ, и прозва́ и́мя єму́ лу́за: сіє́ и́мя єму́ да́же до дне́ сего́.

And the man went into the land of Chettin, and built there a city, and called the name of it Luza; this is its name until this day.

И не разори́ Манассі́й веѳса́на, и́же є́сть ски́ѳскій гра́дъ, ниже́ дще́рей єго́, ниже́ окре́стныхъ [предѣ́лъ] єго́, ниже́ Ѳана́ха, ниже́ дще́рей єго́, ниже́ живу́щихъ въ до́рѣ, ниже́ дще́рей єго́, ниже́ живу́щихъ во Ієвла́мѣ, ниже́ окре́стныхъ єго́, ниже́ дще́рей єго́, и живу́щихъ въ Магеддо́нѣ, ниже́ окре́стныхъ єго́ и дще́рей єго́. И нача́ Ханане́й жи́ти на земли́ се́й.

And Manasse did not drive out the inhabitants of Bæthsan, which is a city of Scythians, nor her towns, nor her suburbs; nor Thanac, nor her towns; nor the inhabitants of Dor, nor her towns; nor the inhabitant of Balac, nor her suburbs, nor her towns; nor the inhabitants of Magedo, nor her suburbs, nor her towns; nor the inhabitants of Jeblaam, nor her suburbs, nor her towns; and the Chananite began to dwell in this land.

И бы́сть єгда́ укрѣпи́ся Ізра́иль, и сотвори́ Ханане́а да́нника: изгна́ніємъ же не изгна́ єго́.

And it came to pass when Israel was strong, that he made the Chananite tributary, but did not utterly drive them out.

И Єфре́мъ не изгна́ Ханане́а живу́щаго въ газе́рѣ: и живя́ше Ханане́й средѣ́ єго́ въ газе́рѣ, и бы́сть єму́ въ да́нника.

And Ephraim did not drive out the Chananite that dwelt in Gazer; and the Chananite dwelt in the midst of him in Gazer, and became tributary.

И Завуло́нъ не изгна́ живу́щихъ въ Хевро́нѣ и живу́щихъ во Амма́нѣ: и всели́ся Ханане́й посредѣ́ и́хъ и бы́сть єму́ да́нникъ.

And Zabulon did not drive out the inhabitants of Kedron, nor the inhabitants of Domana: and the Chananite dwelt in the midst of them, and became tributary to them.

И Аси́ръ не изгна́ живу́щихъ во акхо́рѣ, [и бы́сть єму́ да́нникъ,] ни живу́щихъ въ до́рѣ, ни живу́щихъ въ Сідо́нѣ, ни живу́щихъ въ дала́фѣ и во Ахазі́вѣ, и во є́лвѣ и во Афе́кѣ и въ роо́вѣ.

And Aser did not drive out the inhabitants of Accho, and that people became tributary to him, nor the inhabitants of Dor, nor the inhabitants of Sidon, nor the inhabitants of Dalaph, nor Aschazi, nor Chebda, nor Nai, nor Ereo.

И всели́ся Аси́ръ посредѣ́ Ханане́а живу́щаго на земли́ [то́й], зане́ не возмо́же изгна́ти єго́.

And Aser dwelt in the midst of the Chananite who inhabited the land, for he could not drive him out.

И Нефѳалі́мъ не изгна́ живу́щихъ въ веѳсами́сѣ, ниже́ живу́щихъ въ веѳана́хѣ: и всели́ся Нефѳалі́мъ средѣ́ Ханане́а живу́щаго на земли́ [се́й]: живу́щіи же въ веѳсами́сѣ и въ веѳана́хѣ бы́ша єму́ да́нницы.

And Nephthali did not drive out the inhabitants of Bæthsamys, nor the inhabitants of Bæthanach; and Nephthali dwelt in the midst of the Chananite who inhabited the land: but the inhabitants of Bethsamys and of Bætheneth became tributary to them.

И утѣсни́ Аморре́й сы́ны Да́новы въ горѣ́, я́ко не попусти́ и́мъ низходи́ти во юдо́ль.

And the Amorite drove out the children of Dan into the mountain, for they did not suffer them to come down into the valley.

И нача́ Аморре́й жи́ти въ горѣ́ чре́пнѣй, идѣ́же медвѣ́ди и лиси́цы, въ мирсіно́нѣ и въ Салаві́нѣ: и отяготѣ́ рука́ до́му Іо́сифля на Аморре́а, и бы́сть єму́ да́нникъ.

And the Amorite began to dwell in the mountain of shells, in which are bears, and foxes, in Myrsinon, and in Thalabin; and the hand of the house of Joseph was heavy upon the Amorite, and he became tributary to them.

И предѣ́лъ Аморре́йскій Ідуме́й от восхо́да акраві́ня, от ка́мене и вы́ше.

And the border of the Amorite was from the going up of Acrabin, from the rock and upwards.

И взы́де а́нгелъ Госпо́день от Галга́лъ къ мѣ́сту пла́ча и къ Веѳи́лю и къ до́му Ізра́илеву, и рече́ къ ни́мъ: сія́ глаго́летъ Госпо́дь: изведо́хъ ва́съ изъ Єги́пта, и введо́хъ ва́съ въ зе́млю, є́юже кля́хся отце́мъ ва́шымъ да́ти ва́мъ: и реко́хъ: не разорю́ завѣ́та моєго́, и́же съ ва́ми, во вѣ́ки:

And an angel of the Lord went up from Galgal to the place of weeping, and to Bæthel, and to the house of Israel, and said to them, Thus says the Lord, I brought you up out of Egypt, and I brought you into the land which I sware to your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant that I have made with you.

и вы́ не завѣща́йте завѣ́та съ сѣдя́щими на земли́ се́й, ниже́ бого́мъ и́хъ да поклоните́ся, но изва́янная и́хъ сокруши́те, и олтари́ и́хъ раскопа́йте: и не послу́шасте гла́са моєго́, я́ко сія́ сотвори́сте:

And ye shall make no covenant with them that dwell in this land, neither shall ye worship their gods; but ye shall destroy their graven images, ye shall pull down their altars: but ye hearkened not to my voice, for ye did these things.

и а́зъ рѣ́хъ: не приложу́ пресели́ти люді́й, и́хже рѣ́хъ изгна́ти, ниже́ отиму́ и́хъ от лица́ ва́шего, и бу́дутъ ва́мъ въ те́рніє, и бо́зи и́хъ бу́дутъ ва́мъ въ собла́знъ.

And I said, I will not drive them out from before you, but they shall be for a distress to you, and their gods shall be to you for an offence.

И бы́сть єгда́ глаго́ла а́нгелъ Госпо́день словеса́ сія́ ко всѣ́мъ сыно́мъ Ізра́илевымъ, и воздвиго́ша лю́діє гла́съ сво́й, и воспла́кашася.

And it came to pass when the angel of the Lord spoke these words to all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.

И сего́ ра́ди прозва́ся и́мя мѣ́сту тому́ пла́чь: и пожро́ша та́мо Го́сподеви.

And they named the name of that place Weepings; and they sacrificed there to the Lord.

И отпусти́ Іису́съ лю́ди, и отидо́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы кі́йждо въ до́мы своя́ и кі́йждо въ наслѣ́діє своє́ наслѣ́дити зе́млю.

And Joshua dismissed the people, and they went every man to his inheritance, to inherit the land.

И рабо́таша лю́діє Го́сподеви во вся́ дни́ Іису́совы и во вся́ дни́ старѣ́йшинъ, єли́цы пожи́ша мно́ги дни́ со Іису́сомъ, єли́цы разумѣ́ша все́ дѣ́ло Госпо́дне вели́коє, є́же сотвори́ Ізра́илю.

And the people served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that lived many days with Joshua, as many as knew all the great work of the Lord, what things he had wrought in Israel.

И сконча́ся Іису́съ сы́нъ нави́нъ ра́бъ Госпо́день, сы́нъ ста́ и десяти́ лѣ́тъ.

And Joshua the son of Naue, the servant of the Lord, died, a hundred and ten years old.

И погребо́ша єго́ въ предѣ́лѣхъ наслѣ́дія єго́ въ Ѳамнаѳаре́сѣ, въ горѣ́ Єфре́мли, от сѣ́вера горы́ гаа́съ:

And they buried him in the border of his inheritance, in Thamnathares, in mount Ephraim, on the north of the mountain of Gaas.

и ве́сь ро́дъ о́нъ приложи́шася ко отце́мъ свои́мъ. И воста́ ро́дъ другі́й по си́хъ, и́же не позна́ша Го́спода и дѣ́ла, є́же сотвори́ во Ізра́или.

And all that generation were laid to their fathers: and another generation rose up after them, who knew not the Lord, nor yet the work which he wrought in Israel.

И сотвори́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы зло́є предъ Го́сподемъ и послужи́ша Ваа́лу,

And the children of Israel wrought evil before the Lord, and served Baalim.

и оста́виша Го́спода Бо́га оте́цъ свои́хъ, изве́дшаго и́хъ изъ земли́ Єги́петски, и поидо́ша вслѣ́дъ бого́въ ины́хъ, от бого́въ язы́ческихъ, и́же о́крестъ и́хъ, и поклони́шася и́мъ: и разгнѣ́ваша Го́спода,

And they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and walked after other gods, of the gods of the nations round about them; and they worshipped them.

и оста́виша єго́, и послужи́ша Ваа́лу и Аста́ртомъ.

And they provoked the Lord, and forsook him, and served Baal and the Astartes.

И разгнѣ́вася я́ростію Госпо́дь на Ізра́иля и предаде́ єго́ въ ру́ки плѣня́ющихъ, и плѣни́ша и́хъ: и отдаде́ и́хъ въ ру́ки враго́въ и́хъ, и́же о́крестъ и́хъ, и не возмого́ша ктому́ противоста́ти предъ лице́мъ враго́въ свои́хъ, во всѣ́хъ въ ни́хже прохожда́ху.

And the Lord was very angry with Israel; and he gave them into the hands of the spoilers, and they spoiled them; and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, and they could not any longer resist their enemies,

И рука́ Госпо́дня бя́ше на ни́хъ во зла́я, я́коже глаго́ла Госпо́дь и я́коже кля́тся Госпо́дь и́мъ, и озло́би и́хъ зѣло́.

among whomsoever they went; and the hand of the Lord was against them for evil, as the Lord spoke, and as the Lord sware to them; and he greatly afflicted them.

И возста́ви [и́мъ] Госпо́дь судіи́, и изба́ви и́хъ Госпо́дь от руки́ плѣня́ющихъ я́.

And the Lord raised up judges, and the Lord saved them out of the hands of them that spoiled them: and yet they hearkened not to the judges,

Но и суді́й не послу́шаша, я́ко соблуди́ша вслѣ́дъ бого́въ ины́хъ и поклони́шася и́мъ, и разгнѣ́ваша Го́спода: и уклони́шася съ пути́ ско́ро, по нему́же ходи́ша отцы́ и́хъ послу́шати за́повѣдій Госпо́днихъ: не сотвори́ша та́ко.

for they went a whoring after other gods, and worshipped them; and they turned quickly out of the way in which their fathers walked to hearken to the words of the Lord; they did not so.

И я́ко возста́ви и́мъ Госпо́дь суді́й, и бя́ше Госпо́дь съ судіє́ю, и спасе́ я́ от руки́ враго́въ и́хъ во вся́ дни́ судіи́: я́ко умили́ся Госпо́дь от воздыха́нія и́хъ, от лица́ вою́ющихъ на ня́ и озлобля́ющихъ я́.

And because the Lord raised them up judges, so the Lord was with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the Lord was moved at their groaning by reason of them that besieged them and afflicted them.

И бы́сть єгда́ умира́ше судія́, и отвраща́хуся, и па́ки растлѣва́хуся па́че оте́цъ свои́хъ, иду́ще вслѣ́дъ бого́въ ины́хъ служи́ти и́мъ и покланя́тися и́мъ: не отверго́ша начина́ній свои́хъ и не отступи́ша от путі́й свои́хъ жесто́кихъ.

And it came to pass when the judge died, that they went back, and again corrupted themselves worse than their fathers to go after other gods to serve them and to worship them: they abandoned not their devices nor their stubborn ways.

И разгнѣ́вася я́ростію Госпо́дь на Ізра́иля и рече́: поне́же оста́ви ро́дъ се́й завѣ́тъ мо́й, єго́же заповѣ́дахъ отце́мъ и́хъ, и не послу́шаша гла́са моєго́,

And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and said, Forasmuch as this nation has forsaken my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and has not hearkened to my voice,

и а́зъ не приложу́ изгна́ти му́жа от лица́ и́хъ от си́хъ язы́ковъ, и́хже оста́ви Іису́съ сы́нъ нави́нъ на земли́ и у́мре,

therefore I will not any more cast out a man of the nations from before their face, which Joshua the son of Naue left in the land. And the Lord left them,

є́же искуша́ти въ ни́хъ Ізра́иля, а́ще сохраня́тъ пу́ть Госпо́день ходи́ти въ не́мъ, я́коже сохрани́ша отцы́ и́хъ, или́ ни́.

to prove Israel with them, whether they would keep the way of the Lord, to walk in it, as their fathers kept it, or no.

И оста́ви Госпо́дь язы́ки сія́ не истреби́ти и́хъ вско́рѣ, и не предаде́ и́хъ въ ру́ку Іису́сову.

So the Lord will leave these nations, so as not to cast them out suddenly; and he delivered them not into the hand of Joshua.

И сія́ язы́ки, я́же оста́ви Госпо́дь, да иску́ситъ и́ми Ізра́иля, вся́ невѣ́дущыя бра́ней Ханаа́нскихъ,

And these are the nations which the Lord left to prove Israel with them, all that had not known the wars of Chanaan.

то́кмо ра́ди родо́въ сыно́въ Ізра́илевыхъ, є́же научи́ти я́ бра́ни, оба́че и́же пре́жде и́хъ не увѣ́даша и́хъ:

Only for the sake of the generations of Israel, to teach them war, only the men before them knew them not.

пя́ть воєво́дствъ иноплеме́нническихъ, и всего́ Ханане́а и Сідо́нія, и Єве́а живу́щаго въ Ліва́нѣ от горы́ Ваа́лъ-єрмо́нъ до Лавоєма́ѳа.

The five lordships of the Phylistines, and every Chananite, and the Sidonian, and the Evite who dwelt in Libanus from the mount of Aermon to Laboemath.

И бы́сть да иску́ситъ и́ми Ізра́иля, да увѣ́сть, а́ще послу́шаютъ за́повѣдій Госпо́днихъ, я́же заповѣ́да отце́мъ и́хъ руко́ю Моисе́овою.

And this was done in order to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would obey the commands of the Lord, which he charged their fathers by the hand of Moses.

И сы́нове Ізра́илевы обита́ша посредѣ́ Ханане́а и Хетте́а, и Аморре́а и Ферезе́а, и Єве́а и Гергесе́а и Ієвусе́а,

And the children of Israel dwelt in the midst of the Chananite, and the Chettite, and the Amorite, and the Pherezite, and the Evite, and the Jebusite.

и поя́ша дще́ри и́хъ себѣ́ въ жены́, и дще́ри своя́ да́ша сыно́мъ и́хъ, и послужи́ша бого́мъ и́хъ.

And they took their daughters for wives to themselves, and they gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.

И сотвори́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы зло́є предъ Го́сподемъ и забы́ша Го́спода Бо́га своєго́, и послужи́ша Ваа́лу и дубра́вамъ.

And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and forgot the Lord their God, and served Baalim and the groves.

И разгнѣ́вася я́ростію Госпо́дь на Ізра́иля и предаде́ и́хъ въ ру́ки хусарсаѳе́ма царя́ Месопота́міи Си́рскія: и рабо́таша сы́нове Ізра́илевы хусарсаѳе́му лѣ́тъ о́смь.

And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and sold them into the hand of Chusarsathaim king of Syria of the rivers: and the children of Israel served Chusarsathaim eight years.

И возопи́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы ко Го́споду. И возста́ви Госпо́дь спаси́теля Ізра́илю, и спасе́ и́хъ, Гоѳоніи́ла, сы́на Кене́за бра́та хале́вова юнѣ́йшаго єго́.

And the children of Israel cried to the Lord; and the Lord raised up a saviour to Israel, and he saved them, Gothoniel the son of Kenez, the brother of Chaleb younger than himself.

И бы́сть на не́мъ Ду́хъ Госпо́день, и суди́ Ізра́иля. И изы́де на ра́ть къ хусарсаѳе́му: и предаде́ Госпо́дь въ ру́цѣ єго́ хусарсаѳе́ма царя́ Си́рска, и укрѣпи́ся рука́ єго́ надъ хусарсаѳе́момъ.

And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel; and he went out to war against Chusarsathaim: and the Lord delivered into his hand Chusarsathaim king of Syria of the rivers, and his hand prevailed against Chusarsathaim.

И бы́сть въ поко́и земля́ четы́редесять лѣ́тъ. И у́мре Гоѳоніи́лъ сы́нъ Кене́зовъ.

And the land was quiet forty years; and Gothoniel the son of Kenez died.

И приложи́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы сотвори́ти зло́є предъ Го́сподемъ: и укрѣпи́ Госпо́дь єгло́ма царя́ Моа́вля на Ізра́иля, зане́же сотвори́ша зло́є предъ Го́сподемъ.

And the children of Israel continued to do evil before the Lord: and the Lord strengthened Eglom king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil before the Lord.

И собра́ къ себѣ́ вся́ сы́ны Аммо́ни и Амали́ковы: и и́де, и порази́ Ізра́иля, и взя́ гра́дъ фі́ніческъ.

And he gathered to himself all the children of Ammon and Amalec, and went and smote Israel, and took possession of the city of Palm-trees.

И рабо́таша сы́нове Ізра́илевы єгло́му царю́ Моа́влю лѣ́тъ осмьна́десять.

And the children of Israel served Eglom the king of Moab eighteen years.

И возопи́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы ко Го́споду: и возста́ви и́мъ Госпо́дь спаси́теля, Ао́да сы́на Гира́ня, сы́на Іємені́ина, му́жа ободеснору́чна: и посла́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы да́ры руко́ю єго́ єгло́му царю́ Моа́влю.

And the children of Israel cried to the Lord; and he raised up to them a saviour, Aod the son of Gera a son of Jemeni, a man who used both hands alike: and the children of Israel sent gifts by his hand to Eglom king of Moab.

И сотвори́ себѣ́ Ао́дъ но́жъ обоюдуо́стръ, на пя́дь єди́ну долгота́ єго́, и припоя́са єго́ подъ ри́зу по бедрѣ́ деснѣ́й своє́й.

And Aod made himself a dagger of two edges, of a span long, and he girded it under his cloak upon his right thigh.

И и́де, и принесе́ да́ры єгло́му царю́ Моа́влю: єгло́мъ же му́жъ добротѣле́сенъ бѣ́ зѣло́.

And he went, and brought the presents to Eglom king of Moab, and Eglom was a very handsome man.

И бы́сть єгда́ сконча́ Ао́дъ принося́ да́ры, и отсла́ нося́щихъ да́ры:

And it came to pass when Aod had made an end of offering his gifts, that he dismissed those that brought the gifts.

и єгло́мъ обрати́ся от і́долъ и́же въ Галга́лѣхъ. И рече́ Ао́дъ: сло́во мнѣ́ є́сть къ тебѣ́ та́йно, царю́. И рече́ єгло́мъ къ нему́: молчи́. И отсла́ от себе́ всѣ́хъ предстоя́щихъ предъ ни́мъ.

And he himself returned from the quarries that are by Galgal; and Aod said, I have a secret errand to thee, O king! and Eglom said to him, Be silent: and he sent away from his presence all who waited upon him.

И Ао́дъ вни́де къ нему́. Се́й же сѣдя́ше въ го́рницѣ лѣ́тнѣй своє́й єди́нъ. И рече́ Ао́дъ: сло́во Бо́жіє мнѣ́ къ тебѣ́, царю́. И воста́ єгло́мъ со престо́ла бли́зъ єго́.

And Aod went in to him; and he sat in his own upper summer chamber quite alone; and Aod said, I have a message from God to thee, O king: and Eglom rose up from his throne near him.

И бы́сть єгда́ воста́, и простре́ Ао́дъ ру́ку лѣ́вую свою́, и извлече́ но́жъ, и́же надъ стегно́мъ єго́ десны́мъ, и вонзе́ во чре́во єгло́мово:

And it came to pass as he arose, that Aod stretched forth his left hand, and took the dagger off his right thigh, and plunged it into his belly;

и вти́сне и рукоя́ть за о́стріємъ, и заключи́ ту́къ за о́стріємъ, я́ко не извлече́ ножа́ изъ чре́ва єго́, [и изы́де лайно́].

and drove in also the haft after the blade, and the fat closed in upon the blade, for he drew not out the dagger from his belly.

И изы́де Ао́дъ въ притво́ръ, и про́йде стрегу́щихъ, и затвори́ две́ри го́рницы за собо́ю и заключи́,

And Aod went out to the porch, and passed out by the appointed guards, and shut the doors of the chamber upon him, and locked them.

и са́мъ изы́де. И раби́ єго́ пріидо́ша и узрѣ́ша, и се́, две́ри го́рницы заключе́ны, и рѣ́ша: єда́ у потре́бы сѣди́тъ во отлуче́ніи ло́жа?

And he went out: and Eglom's servants came, and saw, and behold, the doors of the upper chamber were locked; and they said, Does he not uncover his feet in the summer-chamber?

И прежда́ша до́ндеже посрами́шася: и се́, не бы́сть отверза́яй две́ри го́рницы. И взя́ша клю́чь, и отверзо́ша: и се́, господи́нъ и́хъ лежи́тъ на земли́ ме́ртвъ.

And they waited till they were ashamed, and, behold, there was no one that opened the doors of the upper chamber; and they took the key, and opened them; and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead upon the earth.

И Ао́дъ спасе́ся внегда́ смуща́хуся, и не бѣ́ помышля́ющаго о не́мъ: а о́нъ пре́йде і́долы, и спасе́ся въ сетіро́ѳѣ.

And Aod escaped while they were in a tumult, and no one paid attention to him; and he passed the quarries, and escaped to Setirotha.

И бы́сть єгда́ пріи́де Ао́дъ въ зе́млю Ізра́илеву, и воструби́ ро́гомъ въ горѣ́ Єфре́мли: и снидо́ша съ ни́мъ съ горы́ сы́нове Ізра́илевы, и то́й предъ ни́ми.

And it came to pass when Aod came into the land of Israel, that he blew the horn in mount Ephraim, and the children of Israel came down with him from the mountain, and he was before them.

И рече́ къ ни́мъ: иди́те вслѣ́дъ мене́, я́ко предаде́ Госпо́дь Бо́гъ враги́ на́шя Моа́вляны въ ру́ки на́шя. И идо́ша вслѣ́дъ єго́, и предвзя́ша прехо́ды Іорда́на Моа́вля, и ни єди́ному му́жу попусти́ша преити́.

And he said to them, Come down after me, for the Lord God has delivered our enemies, even Moab, into our hand; and they went down after him, and seized on the fords of Jordan before Moab, and he did not suffer a man to pass over.

И изби́ша Моа́ва въ то́ вре́мя я́ко де́сять ты́сящъ муже́й, вся́ во́ины, и́же въ ни́хъ, и вся́каго му́жа си́льна: и ни єди́нъ му́жъ спасе́ся.

And they smote Moab on that day about ten thousand men, every lusty person and every mighty man; and not a man escaped.

И премѣни́ся Моа́въ въ то́й де́нь подъ ру́ку Ізра́илеву, и бы́сть въ поко́и земля́ о́смьдесятъ лѣ́тъ: и суди́ и́хъ Ао́дъ до́ндеже у́мре.

So Moab was humbled in that day under the hand of Israel, and the land had rest eighty years; and Aod judged them till he died.

И по не́мъ воста́ самега́ръ сы́нъ ана́ѳовъ: и изби́ иноплеме́нниковъ ше́сть со́тъ муже́й ра́ломъ воло́вымъ: и спасе́ и се́й Ізра́иля.

And after him rose up Samegar the son of Dinach, and smote the Philistines to the number of six hundred men with a ploughshare such as is drawn by oxen; and he too delivered Israel.

И приложи́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы сотвори́ти зло́є предъ Го́сподемъ: и Ао́дъ у́мре.

And the children of Israel continued to do evil against the Lord; and Aod was dead.

И отдаде́ и́хъ Госпо́дь въ ру́ку Іаві́на царя́ Ханаа́нска, и́же ца́рствова во Асо́рѣ. И воєво́да си́лы єго́ Сіса́ра, и то́й живя́ше во Арісо́ѳѣ язы́ковъ.

And the Lord sold the children of Israel into the hand of Jabin king of Chanaan, who ruled in Asor; and the chief of his host was Sisara, and he dwelt in Arisoth of the Gentiles.

И возопи́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы ко Го́споду, я́ко де́вять со́тъ колесни́цъ желѣ́зныхъ бя́ше єму́: и то́й озло́би Ізра́иля зѣло́ лѣ́тъ два́десять.

And the children of Israel cried to the Lord, because he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and he mightily oppressed Israel twenty years.

И Девво́ра, жена́ проро́чица, жена́ лафідо́ѳова, сія́ судя́ше Ізра́илю въ то́ вре́мя:

And Debbora, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth,—she judged Israel at that time.

и сія́ живя́ше подъ фі́нікомъ Девво́ра между́ Ра́мою и между́ Веѳи́лемъ, въ горѣ́ Єфре́мли: и восхожда́ху сы́нове Ізра́илевы къ не́й та́мо на су́дъ.

And she sat under the palm-tree of Debbora between Rama and Bæthel in mount Ephraim; and the children of Israel went up to her for judgment.

И посла́ Девво́ра, и призва́ Вара́ка сы́на Авінеє́мля изъ Кеде́са Нефѳалі́мова, и рече́ къ нему́: не заповѣ́да ли тебѣ́ Госпо́дь Бо́гъ Ізра́илевъ? и по́йдеши въ го́ру Ѳаво́ръ, и по́ймеши съ собо́ю де́сять ты́сящъ муже́й от сыно́въ Нефѳалі́млихъ и от сыно́въ Завуло́нихъ:

And Debbora sent and called Barac the son of Abineem out of Cades Nephthali, and she said to him, Has not the Lord God of Israel commanded thee? and thou shalt depart to mount Thabor, and shalt take with thyself ten thousand men of the sons of Nephthali and of the sons of Zabulon.

и приведу́ къ тебѣ́ въ водоте́чь кісо́нь Сіса́ру воєво́ду си́лы Іаві́ни, и колесни́цы єго́, и мно́жество (во́й) єго́, и преда́мъ єго́ въ ру́ки твоя́.

And I will bring to thee to the torrent of Kison Sisara the captain of the host of Jabin, and his chariots, and his multitude, and I will deliver them into thine hands.

И рече́ къ не́й Вара́къ: а́ще по́йдеши со мно́ю, пойду́, и а́ще не по́йдеши со мно́ю, не пойду́: я́ко не вѣ́мъ дне́, въ о́ньже благоустро́итъ Госпо́дь а́нгела со мно́ю.

And Barac said to her, If thou wilt go with me, I will go; and if thou wilt not go, I will not go; for I know not the day on which the Lord prospers his messenger with me.

И рече́ Девво́ра къ нему́: иду́щи пойду́ съ тобо́ю: оба́че вѣ́ждь, я́ко не бу́детъ тебѣ́ сла́ва на пути́, въ о́ньже ты́ и́деши: поне́же въ ру́ку же́нску преда́стъ Госпо́дь Сіса́ру. И воста́ Девво́ра и по́йде съ Вара́комъ до Ка́диса.

And she said, I will surely go with thee; but know that thy honour shall not attend on the expedition on which thou goest, for the Lord shall sell Sisara into the hands of a woman: and Debbora arose, and went with Barac out of Cades.

И воззва́ Вара́къ Завуло́на и Нефѳалі́ма до Ка́диса, и поидо́ша вслѣ́дъ єго́ де́сять ты́сящъ муже́й, и и́де съ ни́мъ Девво́ра.

And Barac called Zabulon and Nephthali out of Cades, and there went up at his feet ten thousand men, and Debbora went up with him.

И хаве́ръ кіне́й отлучи́ся от ке́ны и от сыно́въ Іова́ва, у́жика Моисе́ова: и потче́ ку́щу свою́ подъ ду́бомъ почива́ющихъ, и́же є́сть при Кеде́сѣ.

And Chaber the Kenite had removed from Caina, from the sons of Jobab the father-in-law of Moses, and pitched his tent by the oak of the covetous ones, which is near Kedes.

И возвѣсти́ша Сіса́рѣ, я́ко взы́де Вара́къ сы́нъ Авінеє́мль на го́ру Ѳаво́ръ.

And it was told Sisara that Barac the son of Abineem was gone up to mount Thabor.

И созва́ Сіса́ра вся́ колесни́цы своя́, де́вять со́тъ колесни́цъ желѣ́зныхъ, и вся́ лю́ди и́же съ ни́мъ, от Арісо́ѳа язы́ковъ въ водоте́чь кісо́нь.

And Sisara summoned all his chariots, nine hundred chariots of iron and all the people with him, from Arisoth of the Gentiles to the brook of Kison.

И рече́ Девво́ра къ Вара́ку: воста́ни, я́ко се́й де́нь, въ о́ньже предаде́ Госпо́дь Сіса́ру въ ру́ку твою́, зане́ Госпо́дь изы́детъ предъ тобо́ю. И сни́де Вара́къ съ горы́ Ѳаво́ръ, и де́сять ты́сящъ муже́й вслѣ́дъ єго́.

And Debbora said to Barac, Rise up, for this is the day on which the Lord has delivered Sisara into thy hand, for the Lord shall go forth before thee: and Barac went down from mount Thabor, and ten thousand men after him.

И сотре́ Госпо́дь Сіса́ру и вся́ колесни́цы єго́ и ве́сь по́лкъ єго́ о́стріємъ меча́ предъ Вара́комъ. И сни́де Сіса́ра съ колесни́цы своєя́ и побѣже́ нога́ми свои́ми.

And the Lord discomfited Sisara, and all his chariots, and all his army, with the edge of the sword before Barac: and Sisara descended from off his chariot, and fled on his feet.

И Вара́къ гоня́й вслѣ́дъ колесни́цъ єго́ и вслѣ́дъ полка́, да́же до дубра́вы язы́ковъ. И паде́ ве́сь по́лкъ Сіса́ринъ о́стріємъ меча́: не оста́ся ни єди́нъ.

And Barac pursued after the chariots and after the army, into Arisoth of the Gentiles; and the whole army of Sisara fell by the edge of the sword, there was not one left.

И Сіса́ра убѣже́ нога́ми свои́ми въ ку́щу Іаи́ли, жены́ хаве́ра кіне́єва: я́ко ми́ръ бя́ше между́ Іаві́номъ царе́мъ Асо́рскимъ и между́ до́момъ хаве́ра кіне́єва.

And Sisara fled on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of Chaber the Kenite his friend: for there was peace between Jabin king of Asor and the house of Chaber the Kenite.

И изы́де Іаи́ль во срѣ́теніє Сіса́рѣ и рече́ къ нему́: уклони́ся, господи́не мо́й, уклони́ся ко мнѣ́, не бо́йся. И уклони́ся къ не́й въ ку́щу: и покры́ єго́ оде́ждею своє́ю.

And Jael went out to meet Sisara, and said to him, Turn aside, my lord, turn aside to me, fear not: and he turned aside to her into the tent; and she covered him with a mantle.

И рече́ Сіса́ра къ не́й: напо́й мя́ ма́ло воды́, я́ко возжажда́хъ. И отрѣши́ мѣ́хъ мле́чный, и напои́ єго́, и покры́ єго́.

And Sisara said to her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink, for I am thirsty: and she opened a bottle of milk, and gave him to drink, and covered him.

И рече́ къ не́й Сіса́ра: ста́ни во две́рехъ ку́щи, и бу́детъ а́ще кто́ пріи́детъ къ тебѣ́, и вопро́ситъ тя́, и рече́тъ: є́сть ли здѣ́ му́жъ? и рече́ши: нѣ́сть.

And Sisara said to her, Stand now by the door of the tent, and it shall come to pass if any man come to thee, and ask of thee, and say, Is there any man here? then thou shalt say, There is not.

И взя́ Іаи́ль, жена́ хаве́рова, ко́лъ ку́щный, и взя́ мла́тъ въ ру́ку свою́, и вни́де къ нему́ ти́хо, и водрузи́ ко́лъ во скра́ніи єго́, и пронзе́ до земли́: и се́й утру́ждся спа́ше, и и́здше.

And Jael the wife of Chaber took a pin of the tent, and took a hammer in her hand, and went secretly to him, and fastened the pin in his temple, and it went through to the earth, and he fainted away, and darkness fell upon him and he died.

И се́, Вара́къ гоня́й Сіса́ру. И изы́де Іаи́ль во срѣ́теніє єму́ и рече́ єму́: пріиди́, и покажу́ тебѣ́ му́жа, єго́же ты́ и́щеши. И вни́де къ не́й, и се́, Сіса́ра лежа́ше ме́ртвъ, и ко́лъ во скра́ніи єго́.

And, behold, Barac was pursuing Sisara: and Jael went out to meet him, and she said to him, Come, and I will shew thee the man whom thou seekest: and he went in to her; and, behold, Sisara was fallen dead, and the pin was in his temple.

И покори́ Госпо́дь Бо́гъ въ то́й де́нь Іаві́на царя́ Ханаа́ня предъ сы́ны Ізра́илевыми:

So God routed Jabin king of Chanaan in that day before the children of Israel.

и хожда́ше рука́ сыно́въ Ізра́илевыхъ ходя́щи, и ожесточи́ся на Іаві́на царя́ Ханаа́нска, до́ндеже истреби́ша єго́.

And the hand of the children of Israel prevailed more and more against Jabin king of Chanaan, until they utterly destroyed Jabin king of Chanaan.

И воспѣ́ Девво́ра и Вара́къ сы́нъ Авінеє́мовъ въ то́й де́нь, и рече́:

And Debbora and Barac son of Abineem sang in that day, saying,

внегда́ нача́ти вождо́мъ во Ізра́или, въ произволе́ніи люді́й, благослови́те Го́спода.

A revelation was made in Israel when the people were made willing: Praise ye the Lord.

Услы́шите, ца́ріє, и внуши́те, кня́зи: а́зъ Го́сподеви воспою́ и пою́ Бо́гу Ізра́илеву.

Hear, ye kings, and hearken, rulers: I will sing, it is I who will sing to the Lord, it is I, I will sing a psalm to the Lord the God of Israel.

Го́споди, во исхо́дѣ Твоє́мъ от Сиі́ра, внегда́ воздвиза́тися Тебѣ́ от села́ Єдо́мова, земля́ потрясе́ся, и не́бо возмути́ся, и о́блацы иска́паша во́ду:

O Lord, in thy going forth on Seir, when thou wentest forth out of the land of Edom, the earth quaked and the heaven dropped dews, and the clouds dropped water.

го́ры подвиго́шася от лица́ Го́спода Єлоі́, та́я Сіна́ от лица́ Го́спода Бо́га Ізра́илева.

The mountains were shaken before the face of the Lord Eloi, this Sina before the face of the Lord God of Israel.

Во дни́ самега́ра сы́на ана́ѳова, во дни́ Іаи́ли, оскудѣ́ша путіє́, и идо́ша въ пути́ кри́вы, и идо́ша въ пути́ развраще́нны:

In the days of Samegar son of Anath, in the days of Jael, they deserted the ways, and went in by-ways; they went in crooked paths.

оскудѣ́ша живу́щіи во Ізра́или, оскудѣ́ша до́ндеже воста́ Девво́ра, до́ндеже воста́ ма́ти во Ізра́или:

The mighty men in Israel failed, they failed until Debbora arose, until she arose a mother in Israel.

избра́ша бо́ги но́вы, я́ко хлѣ́бъ я́ченъ, тогда́ воєва́ша гра́ды князе́й: щи́тъ не яви́ся, ниже́ копіє́ въ четы́редесяти ты́сящахъ во Ізра́или.

They chose new gods; then the cities of rulers fought; there was not a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel.

Се́рдце моє́ на учине́нная во Ізра́или: си́льніи люді́й, благослови́те Го́спода.

My heart inclines to the orders given in Israel; ye that are willing among the people, bless the Lord.

Ѣ́здящіи на осля́техъ бѣ́лыхъ въ полу́дне, и сѣдя́щіи на суди́щи, и ходя́щіи на пути́ со́нмовъ, провѣща́йте.

Ye that mount a she-ass at noon-day, ye that sit on the judgment-seat, and walk by the roads of them that sit in judgment by the way; declare

Гла́съ пле́щущихъ посредѣ́ веселя́щихся: та́мо дадя́тъ пра́вду. Го́споди, пра́вды укрѣпи́ во Ізра́или: тогда́ разыдо́шася во гра́ды своя́ лю́діє Госпо́дни.

ye that are delivered from the noise of disturbers among the drawers of water; there shall they relate righteous acts: O Lord, increase righteous acts in Israel: then the people of the Lord went down to the cities.

Воста́ни, воста́ни, Девво́ра: воста́ни, воста́ни, глаго́ли съ пѣ́снію: воста́ни, Вара́че, и плѣни́ плѣ́нъ тво́й, сы́не Авінеє́мль.

Awake, awake, Debbora; awake, awake, utter a song: arise, Barac, and lead thy captivity captive, son of Abineem.

Тогда́ возвели́чися си́ла Єго́: Госпо́дь смири́ мнѣ́ крѣ́пльшыя мене́.

Then went down the remnant to the strong, the people of the Lord went down for him among the mighty ones from me.

Лю́діє Єфре́мли утоми́ша и́хъ въ доли́нѣ: бра́тъ тво́й Веніамі́нъ въ лю́дехъ твои́хъ: от мене́ Махі́ръ снидо́ша взыску́ющіи, и от Завуло́на укрѣпля́ющіися въ ски́птрѣ повѣствова́нія пи́сменника.

Ephraim rooted them out in Amalec, behind thee was Benjamin among thy people: the inhabitants of Machir came down with me searching out the enemy, and from Zabulon came they that draw with the scribe's pen of record.

И нача́лницы во Іссаха́рѣ съ Девво́рою и Вара́комъ: та́ко Вара́къ отпусти́ пѣ́шихъ свои́хъ въ доли́ну, въ раздѣле́нія Руви́мова, вели́ка испыта́нія се́рдца.

And princes in Issachar were with Debbora and Barac, thus she sent Barac on his feet in the valleys into the portions of Ruben; great pangs reached to the heart.

Вску́ю ми́ сѣди́ши посредѣ́ мосфаѳе́мовъ, слы́шати звизда́ніє востава́ющихъ проити́ въ раздѣле́нія Руви́мля? ве́лія испыта́нія се́рдца.

Why did they sit between the sheep-folds to hear the bleating of flocks for the divisions of Ruben? there were great searchings of heart.

Галаа́дъ, объ ону́ страну́ Іорда́на всели́ся: и да́нъ, вску́ю обита́єши въ корабле́хъ? Аси́ръ обита́ при бре́зѣхъ морски́хъ, и въ раздѣле́ніихъ свои́хъ всели́ся.

Galaad is on the other side of Jordan where he pitched his tents; and why does Dan remain in ships? Aser sat down on the sea-coasts, and he will tabernacle at his ports.

Завуло́нъ, лю́діє укори́ша ду́шу свою́ на сме́рть: и Нефѳалі́мъ на высота́хъ села́.

The people Zabulon exposed their soul to death, and Nephthali came to the high places of their land.

И пріидо́ша къ нему́ ца́ріє, и ополчи́шася, тогда́ воєва́ша ца́ріє Ханаа́нстіи во Ѳанаа́хѣ, у воды́ Магеддо́: мно́жества сребра́ не взя́ша.

Kings set themselves in array, then the kings of Chanaan fought in Thanaach at the water of Mageddo; they took no gift of money.

От небесе́ ополчи́шася звѣ́зды, от чи́на своєго́ ополчи́шася съ Сіса́рою.

The stars from heaven set themselves in array, they set themselves to fight with Sisara out of their paths.

Водоте́чь кісо́новъ изве́рже и́хъ, водоте́чь кадимі́нъ, водоте́чь кісо́новъ: попере́тъ єго́ душа́ моя́ си́льная.

The brook of Kison swept them away, the ancient brook, the brook Kison: my mighty soul will trample him down.

Тогда́ отсѣко́шася копы́та ко́нская от топта́нія си́льныхъ єго́.

When the hoofs of the horse were entangled, his mighty ones earnestly hasted

Проклина́йте Мазо́ра, рече́ а́нгелъ Госпо́день, прокля́тіємъ проклени́те живу́щихъ въ не́мъ, я́ко не пріидо́ша въ по́мощь Госпо́дню, въ по́мощь [Госпо́дню] въ си́льныхъ.

to curse Meroz: Curse ye it, said the angel of the Lord; cursed is every one that dwells in it, because they came not to the help of the Lord, to his help among the mighty.

Да благослови́тся въ жена́хъ Іаи́ль, жена́ хаве́ра кіне́єва, от же́нъ въ ку́щи да благослови́тся:

Blessed among women be Jael wife of Chaber the Kenite; let her be blessed above women in tents.

воды́ проси́ у нея́, и даде́ єму́ млеко́ въ ча́ши: преиму́щихъ принесе́ ма́сло кра́віє:

He asked for water, she gave him milk in a dish; she brought butter of princes.

ру́ку свою́ лѣ́вую къ колу́ простре́, и десни́цу свою́ ко мла́ту рабо́тающихъ, и уби́ Сіса́ру: разби́ главу́ єго́, и порази́, прободе́ скра́нія єго́:

She stretched forth her left hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workman's hammer, and she smote Sisara with it, she nailed through his head and smote him; she nailed through his temples.

между́ нога́ма єя́ повали́ся: паде́ утружде́нъ, и у́мре посредѣ́ но́гъ єя́, и та́мо паде́ бѣ́днѣ.

He rolled down between her feet; he fell and lay between her feet; he bowed and fell: where he bowed, there he fell dead.

Око́нцемъ взира́ше ма́ти Сіса́рина, окно́мъ сквозѣ́ реше́тку, что́ заме́дли колесни́ца єго́ пріити́? вску́ю уме́длиша стопы́ колесни́цъ єго́?

The mother of Sisara looked down through the window out of the loophole, saying, Why was his chariot ashamed? why did the wheels of his chariots tarry?

Му́дріи нача́лствующіи єя́ отвѣща́ша є́й, и сама́ отвѣщава́ше словеса́ своя́ себѣ́:

Her wise ladies answered her, and she returned answers to herself, saying,

не обря́щутъ ли єго́ раздѣля́юща коры́сти, удружа́юща друго́мъ на главу́ му́жа си́льна? коры́сти ша́ровъ Сіса́рѣ, коры́сти ша́ровъ разли́чія, ша́ры испещре́нныхъ, сія́ вы́и єго́ коры́сти.

Will they not find him dividing the spoil? he will surely be gracious to every man: there are spoils of dyed garments for Sisara, spoils of various dyed garments, dyed embroidered garments, they are the spoils for his neck.

Та́ко да поги́бнутъ вси́ врази́ твои́, Го́споди: и лю́бящіи єго́, я́коже восто́къ со́лнца въ си́лѣ своє́й. И бы́сть въ поко́и земля́ четы́редесять лѣ́тъ.

Thus let all thine enemies perish, O Lord: and they that love him shall be as the going forth of the sun in his strength. And the land had rest forty years.

И сотвори́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы зло́є предъ Го́сподемъ, и предаде́ и́хъ Госпо́дь въ ру́ку Мадіа́млю се́дмь лѣ́тъ.

And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord gave them into the hand of Madiam seven years.

И укрѣпи́ся рука́ Мадіа́мля на Ізра́иля: и сотвори́ша себѣ́ сы́нове Ізра́илевы от лица́ Мадіа́мля огра́ды въ гора́хъ и въ пеще́рахъ и въ тверды́нехъ.

And the hand of Madiam prevailed against Israel: and the children of Israel made for themselves because of Madiam the caves in the mountains, and the dens, and the holes in the rocks.

И бы́сть єгда́ сѣ́яше му́жъ Ізра́илевъ, и восхожда́ше Мадіа́мъ и Амали́къ и сы́нове восто́чніи, и восхожда́ху на него́,

And it came to pass when the children of Israel sowed, that Madiam and Amalec went up, and the children of the east went up together with them.

и ополча́хуся на ни́хъ, и разоря́ху плоды́ земны́я, до́ндеже вни́ти въ Га́зу: и не оставля́ху бытія́ жи́зненнаго во Ізра́или, и ста́дъ и телца́ и осла́:

And they encamped against them, and destroyed their fruits until they came to Gaza; and they left not the support of life in the land of Israel, not even ox or ass among the herds.

я́ко са́ми и ско́ти и́хъ восхожда́ху, и ку́щы и́хъ преноша́ху, и прихожда́ху я́ко пру́зи мно́жествомъ, и самѣ́мъ и велблю́домъ и́хъ не бя́ше числа́: и прихожда́ху на зе́млю Ізра́илеву разори́ти ю́.

For they and their stock came up, and their tents were with them, as the locust in multitude, and there was no number to them and their camels; and they came to the land of Israel, and laid it waste.

И обнища́ Ізра́иль зѣло́ от лица́ Мадіа́мля.

And Israel was greatly impoverished because of Madiam.

И возопи́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы ко Го́споду: и бы́сть єгда́ возопи́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы ко Го́споду Мадіа́ма ра́ди,

And the children of Israel cried to the Lord because of Madiam.

и посла́ Госпо́дь му́жа проро́ка къ сыно́мъ Ізра́илевымъ, и рече́ и́мъ: сія́ глаго́летъ Госпо́дь Бо́гъ Ізра́илевъ: а́зъ є́смь изведы́й ва́съ изъ Єги́пта, и изведо́хъ ва́съ изъ до́му рабо́ты:

And the Lord sent a prophet to the children of Israel; and he said to them, Thus says the Lord God of Israel, I am he that brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and I brought you up out of the house of your bondage.

и изба́вихъ ва́съ от руки́ Єги́петскія и от руки́ всѣ́хъ стужа́ющихъ ва́мъ: и изгна́хъ я́ от лица́ ва́шего, и да́хъ ва́мъ зе́млю и́хъ,

And I delivered you out of the hand of Egypt, and out of the hand of all that afflicted you, and I cast them out before you; and I gave you their land.

и реко́хъ ва́мъ: а́зъ є́смь Госпо́дь Бо́гъ ва́шъ, не убо́йтеся бого́въ Аморре́йскихъ, въ ни́хже вы́ живете́ въ земли́ и́хъ: и не послу́шасте гла́са моєго́.

And I said to you, I am the Lord your God: ye shall not fear the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell; but ye hearkened not to my voice.

И пріи́де а́нгелъ Госпо́день, и сѣ́де подъ ду́бомъ, и́же є́сть во Єфра́ѳѣ, и́же бы́сть Іоа́са отца́ єзрі́. И гедео́нъ сы́нъ єго́ млача́ше пшени́цу на гумнѣ́ єго́, бѣжа́ти от лица́ Мадіа́мля.

And an angel of the Lord came, and sat down under the fir tree, which was in Ephratha in the land of Joas father of Esdri; and Gedeon his son was threshing wheat in a wine-press in order to escape from the face of Madiam.

И яви́ся єму́ а́нгелъ Госпо́день и рече́ къ нему́: Госпо́дь съ тобо́ю, си́льный крѣ́постію.

And the angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty in strength.

И рече́ къ нему́ гедео́нъ: во мнѣ́, Го́споди мо́й: и а́ще є́сть Госпо́дь съ на́ми, и вску́ю обрѣто́ша ны́ вся́ зла́я сія́? и гдѣ́ су́ть вся́ чудеса́ єго́, єли́ка повѣ́даша на́мъ отцы́ на́ши, глаго́люще: не изъ Єги́пта ли изведе́ на́съ Госпо́дь? и ны́нѣ отве́рже на́съ Госпо́дь и предаде́ на́съ въ ру́ку Мадіа́млю.

And Gedeon said to him, Be gracious with me, my Lord: but if the Lord is with us, why have these evils found us? and where are all his miracles, which our fathers have related to us, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt? and now he has cast us out, and given us into the hand of Madiam.

И воззрѣ́ на него́ а́нгелъ Госпо́день и рече́ єму́: иди́ въ крѣ́пости твоє́й се́й, и спасе́ши Ізра́иля от руки́ Мадіа́мли: и се́, посла́хъ тя́.

And the angel of the Lord turned to him, and said, Go in this thy strength, and thou shalt save Israel out of the hand of Madiam: behold, I have sent thee.

И рече́ къ нему́ гедео́нъ: во мнѣ́, Го́споди, въ чесо́мъ спасу́ Ізра́иля? се́, ты́сяща моя́ ху́ждша въ Манассі́и, и а́зъ є́смь мні́й въ дому́ отца́ моєго́.

And Gedeon said to him, Be gracious with me, my Lord: whereby shall I save Israel? behold, my thousand is weakened in Manasse, and I am the least in my father's house.

И рече́ къ нему́ Госпо́дь: поне́же а́зъ бу́ду съ тобо́ю, и избіє́ши Мадіа́ма я́ко му́жа єди́наго.

And the angel of the Lord said to him, The Lord shall be with thee, and thou shalt smite Madiam as one man.

И рече́ къ нему́ гедео́нъ: и а́ще обрѣто́хъ благода́ть предъ очи́ма твои́ма, и да сотвори́ши мнѣ́ дне́сь зна́меніє, я́ко ты́ глаго́леши со мно́ю:

And Gedeon said to him, If now I have found mercy in thine eyes, and thou wilt do this day for me all that thou hast spoken of with me,

не отиди́ отсю́ду, до́ндеже пріити́ мнѣ́ къ тебѣ́, и принесу́ же́ртву мою́, и пожру́ предъ тобо́ю. И рече́: а́зъ є́смь, преме́длю, до́ндеже обрати́шися ты́.

depart not hence until I come to thee, and I will bring forth an offering and offer it before thee: and he said, I will remain until thou return.

И гедео́нъ вни́де, и сотвори́ ко́злище от ко́зъ, и че́тверть іфі́ муки́ опрѣсно́ковъ, и мяса́ вложи́ въ ко́шницу, и юху́ влія́ въ горне́цъ: и изнесе́ къ нему́ подъ ду́бъ, и поклони́ся.

And Gedeon went in, and prepared a kid of the goats, and an ephah of fine flour unleavened; and he put the flesh in the basket, and poured the broth into the pot, and brought them forth to him under the turpentine tree, and drew nigh.

И рече́ къ нему́ а́нгелъ Госпо́день: возми́ мяса́ и хлѣ́бы прѣ́сныя, и положи́ у ка́мене о́наго, и юху́ бли́зъ излі́й. И сотвори́ та́ко.

And the angel of God said to him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and put them on that rock, and pour out the broth close by: and he did so.

И простре́ а́нгелъ Госпо́день коне́цъ жезла́, и́же въ руцѣ́ єго́, и прикосну́ся мясо́мъ и хлѣ́бомъ прѣ́снымъ: и возгорѣ́ся о́гнь изъ ка́мене, и пояде́ мяса́ и опрѣсно́ки: и а́нгелъ Госпо́день отъи́де от оче́й єго́.

And the angel of the Lord stretched out the end of the rod that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened bread; and fire came up out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened bread, and the angel of the Lord vanished from his sight.

И ви́дѣ гедео́нъ, я́ко а́нгелъ є́сть Госпо́день, и рече́ гедео́нъ: увы́ мнѣ́, Го́споди, Го́споди, я́ко ви́дѣхъ а́нгела Госпо́дня лице́мъ къ лицу́.

And Gedeon saw that he was an angel of the Lord; and Gedeon said, Ah, ah, Lord my God! for I have seen the angel of the Lord face to face.

И рече́ єму́ Госпо́дь: ми́ръ тебѣ́, не бо́йся, не у́мреши.

And the Lord said to him, Peace be to thee, fear not, thou shalt not die.

И созда́ та́мо гедео́нъ же́ртвенникъ Го́споду, и назва́ єго́ ми́ръ Госпо́день, да́же до дне́ сего́, єще́ су́щу єму́ во Єфра́ѳѣ отца́ єзрі́.

And Gedeon built there an altar to the Lord, and called it The peace of the Lord, until this day, as it is still in Ephratha of the father of Esdri.

И бы́сть въ ту́ но́щь, и рече́ єму́ Госпо́дь: возми́ телца́ упита́ннаго [от ското́въ] отца́ твоєго́, и телца́ втора́го седми́ лѣ́тъ, и разори́ши олта́рь Ваа́ловъ, и́же є́сть отца́ твоєго́, и дубра́ву, я́же у него́, да посѣче́ши:

And it came to pass in that night, that the Lord said to him, Take the young bullock which thy father has, even the second bullock of seven years old, and thou shalt destroy the altar of Baal which thy father has, and the grove which is by it thou shalt destroy.

и да согради́ши олта́рь Го́сподеви Бо́гу твоєму́ яви́вшемуся тебѣ́ на верху́ [горы́] маозі́ во предчи́ніи: и да по́ймеши телца́ втора́го и вознесе́ши всесожже́нія на дре́вѣхъ дубра́вы, ю́же посѣче́ши.

And thou shalt build an altar to the Lord thy God on the top of this Maozi in the ordering it, and thou shalt take the second bullock, and shalt offer up whole-burnt-offerings with the wood of the grove, which thou shalt destroy.

И поя́ гедео́нъ де́сять муже́й от рабо́въ свои́хъ, и сотвори́, я́коже заповѣ́да єму́ Госпо́дь. И бы́сть я́ко убоя́ся до́му отца́ своєго́ и муже́й гра́да, є́же сотвори́ти во дни́, и сотвори́ но́щію.

And Gedeon took ten men of his servants, and did as the Lord spoke to him: and it came to pass, as he feared the house of his father and the men of the city if he should do it by day, that he did it by night.

И обу́треневаша му́жіє гра́дстіи зау́тра: и се́, раско́панъ олта́рь Ваа́ловъ, и дубра́ва я́же у него́ посѣ́чена, и ви́дѣша телца́ втора́го вознесе́на на всесожже́ніє на олта́рь новосогражде́нный.

And the men of the city rose up early in the morning; and behold, the altar of Baal had been demolished, and the grove by it had been destroyed; and they saw the second bullock, which Gedeon offered on the altar that had been built.

И рече́ му́жъ къ бли́жнему своєму́: кто́ сотвори́ ве́щь сію́? И вопроша́ху и иска́ху, и позна́ша, я́ко гедео́нъ сы́нъ Іоа́совъ сотвори́ ве́щь сію́.

And a man said to his neighbour, Who has done this thing? and they enquired and searched, and learnt that Gedeon the son of Joas had done this thing.

И реко́ша му́жіє гра́дстіи ко Іоа́су: изведи́ сы́на твоєго́, и да у́мретъ, я́ко раскопа́ олта́рь Ваа́ловъ и я́ко посѣче́ дубра́ву я́же надъ ни́мъ.

And the men of the city said to Joas, Bring out thy son, and let him die, because he has destroyed the altar of Baal, and because he has destroyed the grove that is by it.

И рече́ Іоа́съ къ муже́мъ воста́вшымъ на него́: єда́ вы́ ны́нѣ су́дъ глаго́лете о Ваа́лѣ? или́ вы́ єго́ спасете́? и́же а́ще кто́ сотвори́ оби́ду, да у́мретъ до зау́трія: а́ще Бо́гъ є́сть, да мсти́тъ себѣ́, я́ко раскопа́ олта́рь єго́.

And Gedeon the son of Joas said to all the men who rose up against him, Do ye now plead for Baal, or will ye save him? whoever will plead for him, let him be slain this morning: if he be a god let him plead for himself, because one has thrown down his altar.

И прозва́ єго́ въ то́й де́нь ієроваа́ломъ, глаго́ля: да отмсти́тъ на не́мъ Ваа́лъ, я́ко раскопа́ олта́рь єго́.

And he called it in that day Jerobaal, saying, Let Baal plead thereby, because his altar has been thrown down.

И ве́сь Мадіа́мъ и Амали́къ и сы́нове восто́ковъ снидо́шася вку́пѣ, и преидо́ша [рѣку́], и ополчи́шася въ доли́нѣ Ієзрає́ль.

And all Madiam, and Amalek, and the sons of the east gathered themselves together, and encamped in the valley of Jezrael.

И Ду́хъ Бо́жій укрѣпи́ гедео́на, и воструби́ ро́гомъ, и возопи́ Авієзе́ръ вслѣ́дъ єго́.

And the Spirit of the Lord came upon Gedeon, and he blew with the horn, and Abiezer came to help after him.

И посла́ послы́ ко всему́ Манассі́ю, и созва́ся и се́й вслѣ́дъ єго́. Посе́мъ посла́ послы́ во Аси́ръ и въ Завуло́нъ и въ Нефѳалі́мъ, и взыдо́ша во срѣ́теніє и́мъ.

And Gedeon sent messengers into all Manasse, and into Aser, and into Zabulon, and into Nephthali; and he went up to meet them.

И рече́ гедео́нъ къ Бо́гу: а́ще ты́ спаса́єши руко́ю моє́ю Ізра́иля, я́коже глаго́лалъ єси́,

And Gedeon said to God, If thou wilt save Israel by my hand, as thou hast said,

се́, а́зъ положу́ руно́ о́вчеє на гумнѣ́: и а́ще бу́детъ роса́ на рунѣ́ то́чію, и по все́й земли́ су́ша, уразумѣ́ю, я́ко спасе́ши руко́ю моє́ю Ізра́иля, я́коже глаго́лалъ єси́.

behold, I put the fleece of wool in the threshing-floor: if there be dew on the fleece only, and drought on all the ground, I shall know that thou wilt save Israel by my hand, as thou hast said.

И бы́сть та́ко: и ура́ни гедео́нъ нау́тріє, и исцѣди́ руно́, и истече́ роса́ изъ руна́, испо́лненъ окрі́нъ воды́.

And it was so: and he rose up early in the morning, and wrung the fleece, and dew dropped from the fleece, a bowl full of water.

И рече́ гедео́нъ къ Бо́гу: да не разгнѣ́ваєтся я́рость твоя́ на мя́, и возглаго́лю єще́ єди́ною, и искушу́ єще́ єди́ною руно́мъ: да бу́детъ су́ша на рунѣ́ то́кмо, и по все́й земли́ да бу́детъ роса́.

And Gedeon said to God, Let not, I pray thee, thine anger be kindled with me, and I will speak yet once; I will even yet make one trial more with the fleece: let now the drought be upon the fleece only, and let there be dew on all the ground.

И сотвори́ Бо́гъ та́ко въ нощи́ то́й: и бы́сть су́ша на рунѣ́ то́кмо, и по все́й земли́ бы́сть роса́.

And God did so in that night; and there was drought on the fleece only, and on all the ground there was dew.

И обу́тренева ієроваа́лъ, се́й є́сть гедео́нъ, и вси́ лю́діє и́же съ ни́мъ, и ополчи́шася у исто́чника Ара́дъ: и по́лкъ Мадіа́мль и Амали́ковъ бя́ше єму́ съ сѣ́вера на хо́лмѣ мосе́ гаваа́ѳъ-аморе́ въ доли́нѣ.

And Jerobaal rose early, the same is Gedeon, and all the people with him, and encamped at the fountain of Arad; and the camp of Madiam was to the north of him, reaching from Gabaathamorai, in the valley.

И рече́ Госпо́дь къ гедео́ну: мно́зи лю́діє и́же съ тобо́ю, сего́ ра́ди не преда́мъ Мадіа́ма въ ру́ку и́хъ, да не когда́ похва́лится Ізра́иль на мя́, глаго́ля: рука́ моя́ спасе́ мя:

And the Lord said to Gedeon, The people with thee are many, so that I may not deliver Madiam into their hand, lest at any time Israel boast against me, saying, My hand has saved me.

и ны́нѣ рцы́ во у́шы лю́демъ, глаго́ля: кто́ боязли́въ и ужа́стивъ, да возврати́тся и да отъи́детъ от горы́ Галаа́довы. И возврати́шася от люді́й два́десять двѣ́ ты́сящы, и де́сять ты́сящъ оста́шася.

And now speak in the ears of the people, saying, Who is afraid and fearful? let him turn and depart from mount Galaad: and there returned of the people twenty-two thousand, and ten thousand were left.

И рече́ Госпо́дь къ гедео́ну: єще́ лю́діє мно́зи су́ть: сведи́ я́ на во́ду, и искушу́ тебѣ́ и́хъ та́мо: и бу́детъ єго́же а́ще реку́ тебѣ́, се́й да и́детъ съ тобо́ю, то́й да по́йдетъ съ тобо́ю: и вся́къ єго́же а́ще реку́ тебѣ́, се́й да не по́йдетъ съ тобо́ю, то́й да не по́йдетъ съ тобо́ю.

And the Lord said to Gedeon, The people is yet numerous; bring them down to the water, and I will purge them there for thee: and it shall come to pass that of whomsoever I shall say to thee, This one shall go with thee, even he shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I shall say to thee, This one shall not go with thee, even he shall not go with thee.

И сведе́ лю́ди на во́ду, и рече́ Госпо́дь къ гедео́ну: вся́къ и́же поло́четъ язы́комъ свои́мъ от воды́, я́коже ло́четъ пе́съ, да поста́виши єго́ осо́бь: и вся́къ и́же на колѣ́ну паде́тъ пи́ти, отлучи́ єго́ осо́бь.

And he brought the people down to the water; and the Lord said to Gedeon, Whosoever shall lap of the water with his tongue as if a dog should lap, thou shalt set him apart, and also whosoever shall bow down upon his knees to drink.

И бы́сть число́ въ го́рстехъ лока́вшихъ язы́комъ три́ста муже́й: и вси́ оста́вшіи лю́діє преклони́шася на колѣ́на своя́ пи́ти во́ду.

And the number of those that lapped with their hand to their mouth was three hundred men; and all the rest of the people bowed upon their knees to drink water.

И рече́ Госпо́дь къ гедео́ну: треми́ сты́ муже́й лока́вшими во́ду спасу́ ва́съ, и преда́мъ Мадіа́ма въ ру́ку твою́: и вси́ лю́діє да по́йдутъ, кі́йждо на мѣ́сто своє́.

And the Lord said to Gedeon, I will save you by the three hundred men that lapped, and I will give Madiam into thy hand; and all the rest of the people shall go every one to his place.

И взя́ша себѣ́ бра́шно от люді́й въ ру́ку свою́ и ро́ги своя́: и вся́каго му́жа Ізра́илтеска отпусти́ коєго́ждо въ ку́щу свою́, а три́ста муже́й удержа́: по́лкъ же Мадіа́мль бя́ше ни́же єго́ въ доли́нѣ.

And they took the provision of the people in their hand, and their horns; and he sent away every man of Israel each to his tent, and he strengthened the three hundred; and the army of Madiam were beneath him in the valley.

И бы́сть въ ту́ но́щь, и рече́ къ нему́ Госпо́дь: воста́въ сни́ди отсю́ду ско́ро въ по́лкъ, я́ко преда́хъ и́хъ въ ру́ку твою́:

And it came to pass in that night that the Lord said to him, Arise, go down into the camp, for I have delivered it into thy hand.

и а́ще бои́шися ты́ сни́ти, сни́ди ты́ и фара́ ра́бъ тво́й въ по́лкъ,

And if thou art afraid to go down, go down thou and thy servant Phara into the camp.

и услы́шиши, что́ возглаго́лютъ: и по се́мъ укрѣпя́тся ру́цѣ твои́, и сни́деши въ по́лкъ. И сни́де са́мъ и фара́ ра́бъ єго́ въ ча́сть пятьдеся́тниковъ, и́же бы́ша въ полцѣ́.

And thou shalt hear what they shall say, and afterwards thy hands shall be strong, and thou shalt go down into the camp: and he went down and Phara his servant to the extremity of the companies of fifty, which were in the camp.

И Мадіа́мъ и Амали́къ и вси́ сы́нове восто́ковъ стоя́ху въ доли́нѣ я́ко пру́зи мно́жествомъ, и велблю́домъ и́хъ не бя́ше числа́, но бя́ху я́ко песо́къ на краи́ морстѣ́мъ мно́жествомъ.

And Madiam and Amalec and all the children of the east were scattered in the valley, as the locust for multitude; and there was no number to their camels, but they were as the sand on the seashore for multitude.

И вни́де гедео́нъ, и се́, му́жъ повѣ́даше со́нъ по́другу своєму́, и рече́: се́й со́нъ єго́же ви́дѣхъ, и се́, тѣ́сто хлѣ́ба я́чна валя́ющеєся въ полцѣ́ Мадіа́мли, и привали́ся къ ку́щи Мадіа́мли, и поби́ ю́, и преврати́ ю́, и паде́ ку́ща.

And Gedeon came, and behold a man was relating to his neighbour a dream, and he said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream, and behold, a cake of barley bread rolling into the camp of Madiam, and it came as far as a tent, and smote it, and it fell, and it turned it up, and the tent fell.

И отвѣща́ по́другъ єго́ и рече́: нѣ́сть [сіє́ тѣ́сто], но ме́чь гедео́на сы́на Іоа́сова му́жа Ізра́илева: предаде́ Бо́гъ въ ру́ку єго́ Мадіа́ма и ве́сь по́лкъ.

And his neighbour answered and said, This is none other than the sword of Gedeon, son of Joas, a man of Israel: God has delivered Madiam and all the host into his hand.

И бы́сть я́ко услы́ша гедео́нъ повѣ́даніє сна́ и разсужде́ніє єго́, и поклони́ся Го́сподеви, и возврати́ся въ по́лкъ Ізра́илевъ и рече́: воста́ните, я́ко предаде́ Госпо́дь въ ру́ки на́шя по́лкъ Мадіа́мль.

And it came to pass when Gedeon heard the account of the dream and the interpretation of it, that he worshipped the Lord, and returned to the camp of Israel, and said, Rise, for the Lord has delivered the camp of Madiam into our hand.

И раздѣли́ три́ста муже́й на три́ нача́лства, и вдаде́ ро́ги въ ру́цѣ всѣ́мъ, и водоно́сы тщы́, и свѣщы́ средѣ́ водоно́совъ,

And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and put horns in the hands of all, and empty pitchers, and torches in the pitchers:

и рече́ и́мъ: мене́ смотри́те, и та́кожде твори́те: и се́, а́зъ вни́ду въ ча́сть полка́, и бу́детъ я́коже сотворю́, та́кожде сотвори́те:

and he said to them, Ye shall look at me, and so shall ye do; and behold, I will go into the beginning of the host, and it shall come to pass that as I do, so shall ye do.

и а́зъ вострублю́ ро́гомъ, и вси́ и́же со мно́ю, да востру́бите и вы́ въ ро́ги о́крестъ всего́ полка́, и да рече́те: [ме́чь] Бо́гу и гедео́ну.

And I will sound with the horn, and all ye with me shall sound with the horn round about the whole camp, and ye shall say, For the Lord and Gedeon.

И вни́де гедео́нъ и сто́ муже́й и́же съ ни́мъ въ ча́сть полка́ въ нача́лѣ стра́жи сре́днія: и убуже́ніємъ возбуди́ша стрегу́щихъ, и воструби́ша въ ро́ги, и срази́ша водоно́сы и́же въ рука́хъ и́хъ.

And Gedeon and the hundred men that were with him came to the extremity of the army in the beginning of the middle watch; and they completely roused the guards, and sounded with the horns, and they broke the pitchers that were in their hands,

И воструби́ша три́ нача́лства въ ро́ги и сокруши́ша водоно́сы, и удержа́ша въ лѣ́выхъ рука́хъ свои́хъ свѣщы́, и въ десны́хъ рука́хъ и́хъ ро́ги, въ ня́же труби́ти: и возопи́ша: ме́чь Го́сподеви и гедео́ну.

and the three companies sounded with the horns, and broke the pitchers, and held the torches in their left hands, and in their right hands their horns to sound with; and they cried out, A sword for the Lord and for Gedeon.

И ста́ша кі́йждо о себѣ́ о́крестъ полка́: и смяте́ся ве́сь по́лкъ, и возопи́ша, и побѣго́ша.

And every man stood in his place round about the host; and all the host ran, and sounded an alarm, and fled.

И воструби́ша въ три́ста рого́въ: и положи́ Госпо́дь ме́чь му́жа на по́друга єго́ во все́мъ полцѣ́, и пробѣже́ по́лкъ до Виѳасе́тта, и собра́ся до страны́ Авелмау́ла и къ тава́ѳу.

And they sounded with the three hundred horns; and the Lord set every man's sword in all the host against his neighbour.

И возопи́ша му́жіє Ізра́илтестіи от Нефѳалі́ма и от Аси́ра и от всего́ Манассі́и, и погна́ша вслѣ́дъ Мадіа́ма.

And the host fled as far as Bethseed Tagaragatha Abel-meula to Tabath; and the men of Israel from Nephthali, and from Aser, and from all Manasse, came to help, and followed after Madiam.

И посла́ послы́ гедео́нъ во всю́ го́ру Єфре́млю, глаго́ля: сни́дите во срѣ́теніє Мадіа́му и удержи́те и́мъ во́ду до веѳира́ и Іорда́на. И воззва́ вся́къ му́жъ Єфре́мль, и предотъя́ша во́ду до веѳира́ и Іорда́на,

And Gedeon sent messengers into all mount Ephraim, saying, Come down to meet Madiam, and take to yourselves the water as far as Bæthera and Jordan: and every man of Ephraim cried out, and they took the water before hand unto Bæthera and Jordan.

и я́ша два́ кня́зя Мадіа́мля, ори́ва и зи́ва: и уби́ша ори́ва въ Су́рѣ, и зи́ва уби́ша во Іакефзи́вѣ: и погна́ша Мадіа́ма, и главу́ ори́ва и зи́ва принесо́ша къ гедео́ну от о́ноя страны́ Іорда́на.

And they took the princes of Madiam, even Oreb and Zeb; and they slew Oreb in Sur Oreb, and they slew Zeb in Jakephzeph; and they pursued Madiam, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeb to Gedeon from beyond Jordan.

И реко́ша къ гедео́ну му́жіє Єфре́мли: что́ сіє́ сотвори́лъ єси́ на́мъ, я́ко не позва́лъ єси́ на́съ, єгда́ ходи́лъ воєва́ти на Мадіа́ма? И пря́хуся съ ни́мъ си́льно.

And the men of Ephraim said to Gedeon, What is this that thou hast done to us, in that thou didst not call us when thou wentest to fight with Madiam? and they chode with him sharply.

И рече́ къ ни́мъ [гедео́нъ]: что́ сотвори́хъ ны́нѣ я́коже вы́? не лу́чше ли грозде́цъ Єфре́мль, не́жели обра́ніє віногра́да Авієзе́рова?

And he said to them, What have I now done in comparison of you? is not the gleaning of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer?

въ ру́ку ва́шу предаде́ Госпо́дь кня́зи Мадіа́мли, ори́ва и зи́ва: и что́ возмого́хъ сотвори́ти я́коже вы́? Тогда́ утоли́ся ду́хъ и́хъ от него́, єгда́ глаго́ла и́мъ сло́во сіє́.

The Lord has delivered into your hand the princes of Madiam, Oreb and Zeb; and what could I do in comparison of you? Then was their spirit calmed toward him, when he spoke this word.

И пріи́де гедео́нъ ко Іорда́ну, и пре́йде са́мъ и и́же съ ни́мъ три́ста муже́й, а́лчни и утружде́ни гоня́ще.

And Gedeon came to Jordan, and went over, himself and the three hundred with him, hungry, yet pursuing.

И рече́ муже́мъ сокхо́ѳскимъ: дади́те хлѣ́бы на пи́щу муже́мъ си́мъ и́же со мно́ю, я́ко а́лчни су́ть: а́зъ же гоню́ вслѣ́дъ зеве́а и Салма́на, царе́й Мадіа́мскихъ.

And he said to the men of Socchoth, Give, I pray you, bread to feed this people that follow me; because they are faint, and behold, I am following after Zebee and Salmana, kings of Madiam.

И реко́ша кня́зи сокхо́ѳстіи: єда́ рука́ зеве́а и Салма́на ны́нѣ въ руцѣ́ твоє́й, я́ко дади́мъ во́ємъ твои́мъ хлѣ́бы?

And the princes of Socchoth said, Are the hands of Zebee and Salmana now in thy hand, that we should give bread to thy host?

И рече́ гедео́нъ: не та́ко: но єгда́ преда́стъ Госпо́дь зеве́а и Салма́на въ ру́ку мою́, а́зъ сотру́ пло́ти ва́шя те́рніємъ пусты́ннымъ и волчца́ми.

And Gedeon said, Therefore when the Lord gives Zebee and Salmana into my hand, then will I tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness, and the Barkenim.

И взы́де отту́ду во фануи́лъ и глаго́ла къ ни́мъ та́кожде. И отвѣща́ша єму́ му́жіє фануи́ли, я́коже отвѣща́ша єму́ му́жіє сокхо́ѳстіи.

And he went up thence to Phanuel, and spoke to them likewise: and the men of Phanuel answered him as the men of Socchoth had answered him.

И рече́ гедео́нъ муже́мъ фануи́лскимъ, глаго́ля: єгда́ возвращу́ся съ ми́ромъ, раскопа́ю сто́лпъ се́й.

And Gedeon said to the men of Phanuel, When I return in peace, I will break down this tower.

И зеве́й и Салма́нъ бы́ша въ карка́рѣ, и по́лкъ и́хъ съ ни́ми до пятьна́десяти ты́сящъ [муже́й] оста́вшихся от всего́ полка́ сыно́въ восто́чныхъ: и уме́ршихъ бя́ше сто́ и два́десять ты́сящъ муже́й держа́щихъ ору́жіє.

And Zebee and Salmana were in Carcar, and their host was with them, about fifteen thousand, all that were left of all the host of the aliens; and they that fell were a hundred and twenty thousand men that drew the sword.

И взы́де гедео́нъ путе́мъ живу́щихъ въ ку́щахъ от восто́ковъ пря́мо на́вы и Ієгева́ла: и изби́ по́лкъ, по́лкъ же бя́ше наде́женъ.

And Gedeon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents, eastward of Nabai and Jegebal; and he smote the host, and the host was secure.

И побѣго́ста зеве́й и Салма́нъ: и гна́ вслѣ́дъ и́хъ, и поима́ о́ба царя́ Мадіа́мля, зеве́а и Салма́на, и ве́сь по́лкъ и́хъ смяте́.

And Zebee and Salmana fled; and he pursued after them, and took the two kings of Madiam, Zebee and Salmana, and discomfited all the army.

И возврати́ся гедео́нъ сы́нъ Іоа́совъ от ра́ти пре́жде восхо́да со́лнца,

And Gedeon the son of Joas returned from the battle, down from the battle of Ares.

и я́тъ о́трочища от муже́й сокхо́ѳскихъ и вопроси́ єго́: и вписа́ от него́ имена́ князе́й сокхо́ѳскихъ и старѣ́йшинъ и́хъ, седми́десяти и седми́ муже́й.

And he took prisoner a young lad of the men of Socchoth, and questioned him; and he wrote to him the names of the princes of Socchoth and of their elders, seventy-seven men.

И пріи́де гедео́нъ ко князе́мъ сокхо́ѳскимъ и рече́ и́мъ: се́, зеве́й и Салма́нъ, и́хже ра́ди укори́сте мя́, глаго́люще: єда́ рука́ зеве́а и Салма́на ны́нѣ въ руцѣ́ твоє́й, я́ко дади́мъ муже́мъ твои́мъ утру́ждшымся хлѣ́бы?

And Gedeon came to the princes of Socchoth, and said, Behold Zebee and Salmana, about whom ye reproached me, saying, Are the hands of Zebee and Salmana now in thy hand, that we should give bread to thy men that are faint?

И поя́ кня́зи и старѣ́йшины гра́да, и те́рніє от пусты́ни и волчцы́, и сотре́ и́ми му́жы сокхо́ѳски:

And he took the elders of the city with the thorns of the wilderness and the Barkenim, and with them he tore the men of the city.

и сто́лпъ фануи́левъ раскопа́, и изби́ му́жы гра́дскія.

And he overthrew the tower of Phanuel, and slew the men of the city.

И рече́ къ зеве́ю и Салма́ну: какови́ му́жіє, и́хже изби́сте въ Ѳаво́рѣ? И рѣ́ша: я́коже ты́, та́ко они́, подо́бенъ ты́ єси́ и́мъ, я́ко подо́біє сыно́въ царе́выхъ.

And he said to Zebee and Salmana, Where are the men whom ye slew in Thabor? and they said, As thou, so were they, according to the likeness of the son of a king.

И рече́ гедео́нъ: бра́тія моя́ и сы́нове ма́тере моєя́ су́ть: жи́въ Госпо́дь, а́ще бы́сте живи́ли и́хъ, не уби́лъ бы́хъ ва́съ.

And Gedeon said, They were my brethren and the sons of my mother: as the Lord lives, if ye had preserved them alive, I would not have slain you.

И рече́ Ієѳе́ру пе́рвенцу своєму́: воста́въ убі́й и́хъ. И не извлече́ о́трочищь меча́ своєго́: зане́ убоя́ся, я́ко мла́дъ бя́ше.

And he said to Jether his first-born, Rise and slay them; but the lad drew not his sword, for he was afraid, for he was yet very young.

И рече́ зеве́й и Салма́нъ: воста́ни у́бо ты́, и сопроти́вися на́мъ: зане́ я́ко му́жъ си́ла єго́. И воста́ гедео́нъ, и уби́ зеве́а и Салма́на: и взя́ украше́нія, я́же на вы́яхъ велблю́довъ и́хъ.

And Zebee and Salmana said, Rise thou and fall upon us, for thy power is as that of a man; and Gedeon arose, and slew Zebee and Salmana; and he took the round ornaments that were on the necks of their camels.

И реко́ша му́жіє Ізра́илстіи ко гедео́ну: владѣ́й на́ми и ты́, и сы́нове твои́, и сы́нове сыно́въ твои́хъ, я́ко ты́ спа́слъ єси́ на́съ от руки́ Мадіа́мли.

And the men of Israel said to Gedeon, Rule, my lord, over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son's son; for thou hast saved us out of the hand of Madiam.

И рече́ къ ни́мъ гедео́нъ: не возоблада́ю а́зъ ва́ми, и не возоблада́єтъ сы́нъ мо́й ва́ми: Госпо́дь да владѣ́єтъ ва́ми.

And Gedeon said to them, I will not rule, and my son shall not rule among you; the Lord shall rule over you.

И рече́ къ ни́мъ гедео́нъ: попрошу́ у ва́съ проше́нія, и да да́стъ мнѣ́ вся́къ му́жъ усеря́зь от плѣ́на своєго́: я́ко усеря́зи зла́ты [мно́зи] бя́ху и́мъ, зане́ Ісма́илтяне бя́ху.

And Gedeon said to them, I will make a request of you, and do ye give me every man an earring out of his spoils: for they had golden earrings, for they were Ismaelites.

И реко́ша: даю́ще дади́мъ. И простре́ ри́зу, и вверго́ша ту́ му́жіє по усеря́зю от плѣ́на своєго́.

And they said, We will certainly give them: and he opened his garment, and each man cast therein an earring of his spoils.

И бы́сть вѣ́съ усеря́зь златы́хъ, и́хже испроси́, ты́сяща и се́дмь со́тъ Сі́кль зла́та, кромѣ́ плени́цъ и мони́стъ [єнфо́ѳовыхъ], и ри́зъ багря́ныхъ, я́же на царе́хъ Мадіа́млихъ, и кромѣ́ чепе́й златы́хъ, я́же на вы́яхъ велблю́довъ и́хъ.

And the weight of the golden earrings which he asked, was a thousand and seven hundred pieces of gold, besides the crescents, and the chains, and the garments, and the purple cloths that were on the kings of Madiam, and besides the chains that were on the necks of their camels.

И сотвори́ от ни́хъ гедео́нъ Єфу́дъ {Гре́ч.: єпомі́съ, славе́н.: нара́мникъ.}, и поста́ви єго́ во гра́дѣ своє́мъ во Єфра́ѳѣ. И соблуди́ ве́сь Ізра́иль по не́мъ та́мо: и бы́сть гедео́ну и всему́ єго́ до́му въ собла́знъ.

And Gedeon made an ephod of it, and set it in his city in Ephratha; and all Israel went thither a whoring after it, and it became a stumbling-block to Gedeon and his house.

И смири́ся Мадіа́мъ предъ сы́ны Ізра́илевыми, и не приложи́ша воздви́гнути главы́ своєя́. И бы́сть въ поко́и земля́ четы́редесять лѣ́тъ, во дни́ гедео́новы.

And Madiam was straitened before the children of Israel, and they did not lift up their head any more; and the land had rest forty years in the days of Gedeon.

И и́де ієроваа́лъ сы́нъ Іоа́совъ, и сѣ́де въ дому́ своє́мъ.

And Jerobaal the son of Joas went and sat in his house.

И гедео́ну бы́ша се́дмьдесятъ сыно́въ, изше́дшіи от чре́слъ єго́, я́ко жены́ бя́ху мно́ги єму́.

And Gedeon had seventy sons begotten of his body, for he had many wives.

И подло́жница єго́ я́же въ Сікі́мѣ и сія́ роди́ єму́ сы́на, и нарече́ и́мя єму́ Авімеле́хъ.

And his concubine was in Sychem, and she also bore him a son, and gave him the name Abimelech.

И у́мре гедео́нъ сы́нъ Іоа́совъ въ ста́рости бла́зѣ, и погребе́ся во гро́бѣ Іоа́са отца́ своєго́, во Єфра́ѳѣ, отца́ єзрі́єва.

And Gedeon son of Joas died in his city, and was buried in the sepulchre of Joas his father in Ephratha of Abi-Esdri.

И бы́сть єгда́ у́мре гедео́нъ, и соврати́шася сы́нове Ізра́илевы и соблуди́ша вслѣ́дъ Ваалі́ма, и сотвори́ша себѣ́ со Ваалвері́ѳомъ завѣ́тъ, да и́мъ бу́детъ бо́гъ:

And it came to pass when Gedeon was dead, that the children of Israel turned, and went a whoring after Baalim, and made for themselves a covenant with Baal that he should be their god.

и не воспомяну́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы Го́спода Бо́га своєго́, изба́вльшаго и́хъ изъ руки́ всѣ́хъ вра́гъ и́хъ окре́стныхъ:

And the children of Israel remembered not the Lord their God who had delivered them out of the hand of all that afflicted them round about.

и не сотвори́ша ми́лости съ до́момъ ієроваа́ловымъ, се́й є́сть гедео́нъ, по все́й благосты́ни єго́, ю́же сотвори́ со Ізра́илемъ.

And they did not deal mercifully with the house of Jerobaal, (the same is Gedeon) according to all the good which he did to Israel.

И по́йде Авімеле́хъ сы́нъ ієроваа́ловъ въ Сихе́мъ ко бра́тіи ма́тере своєя́ и глаго́ла къ ни́мъ и ко всему́ сро́дству до́му отца́ ма́тере своєя́, глаго́ля:

And Abimelech son of Jerobaal went to Sychem to his mother's brethren; and he spoke to them and to all the kindred of the house of his mother's father, saying,

глаго́лите во у́шы всѣ́хъ муже́й Сихе́мскихъ: что́ лу́чше ва́мъ, є́же владѣ́ти ва́ми седми́десяти муже́мъ всѣ́мъ сыно́мъ ієроваа́ловымъ, или́ владѣ́ти ва́ми му́жу єди́ному? и помяни́те, я́ко ко́сть ва́ша и пло́ть ва́ша є́смь а́зъ.

Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Sychem, saying, Which is better for you, that seventy men, even all the sons of Jerobaal, should reign over you, or that one man should reign over you? and remember that I am your bone and your flesh.

И глаго́лаша бра́тія ма́тере єго́ о не́мъ во у́шы всѣ́хъ муже́й Сихе́мскихъ вся́ словеса́ сія́. И уклони́ся се́рдце и́хъ вслѣ́дъ Авімеле́ха, реко́ша бо: бра́тъ на́шъ є́сть.

And his mother's brethren spoke concerning him in the ears of all the men of Sychem all these words; and their heart turned after Abimelech, for they said, He is our brother.

И да́ша єму́ се́дмьдесятъ сре́бреникъ от до́му Ваалвері́ѳа: и ная́ и́ми Авімеле́хъ муже́й пра́здныхъ и скита́ющихся, и поидо́ша вслѣ́дъ єго́.

And they gave him seventy pieces of silver out of the house of Baalberith; and Abimelech hired for himself vain and cowardly men, and they went after him.

И вни́де въ до́мъ отца́ своєго́ во Єфра́ѳу, и изби́ бра́тію свою́, сы́ны ієроваа́ловы, се́дмьдесятъ муже́й, на ка́мени єди́нѣмъ, и оста́ся Іоаѳа́мъ сы́нъ ієроваа́ль юнѣ́йшій, зане́ скры́ся.

And he went to the house of his father to Ephratha, and slew his brethren the sons of Jerobaal, seventy men upon one stone; but Joatham the youngest son of Jerobaal was left, for he hid himself.

И собра́шася вси́ му́жіє Сихе́мстіи и ве́сь до́мъ маа́ловъ, и поидо́ша, и поста́виша Авімеле́ха царе́мъ у ду́ба ста́на, и́же въ Сихе́мѣхъ.

And all the men of Sicima, and all the house of Bethmaalo, were gathered together, and they went and made Abimelech king by the oak of Sedition, which was at Sicima.

И повѣ́даша Іоаѳа́му, и по́йде, и ста́ на версѣ́ горы́ гарізі́нъ: и воздви́же гла́съ сво́й, и воззва́, и рече́ и́мъ: послу́шайте мене́, му́жіє Сихе́мстіи, и да услы́шитъ ва́съ Бо́гъ.

And it was reported to Joatham, and he went and stood on the top of mount Garizin, and lifted up his voice, and wept, and said to them, Hear me, ye men of Sicima, and God shall hear you.

Иду́ще идо́ша древа́ пома́зати себѣ́ царя́ и рѣ́ша ма́сличинѣ: бу́ди на́мъ ца́рь.

The trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them; and they said to the olive, Reign over us.

И рече́ и́мъ ма́сличина: єда́ оста́вивши ту́чность мою́, ю́же во мнѣ́ просла́ви Бо́гъ и человѣ́цы, пойду́ владѣ́ти древа́ми?

But the olive said to them, Shall I leave my fatness, with which men shall glorify God, and go to be promoted over the trees?

И реко́ша древа́ смоко́вницѣ: пріиди́, ца́рствуй надъ на́ми.

And the trees said to the fig-tree, Come, reign over us.

И рече́ и́мъ смоко́вница: єда́ оста́вивши мою́ сла́дость и пло́дъ мо́й благі́й, пойду́ владѣ́ти древа́ми?

But the fig-tree said to them, Shall I leave my sweetness and my good fruits, and go to be promoted over the trees?

И реко́ша древа́ къ лозѣ́ віногра́днѣй: пріиди́, бу́ди на́мъ ца́рь.

And the trees said to the vine, Come, reign over us.

И рече́ и́мъ лоза́ віногра́дная: єда́ оста́вивши віно́ моє́, веселя́щеє Бо́га и человѣ́ки, пойду́ владѣ́ти древа́ми?

And the vine said to them, Shall I leave my wine that cheers God and men, and go to be promoted over the trees?

И реко́ша вся́ древа́ те́рнію: пріиди́, бу́ди на́мъ ца́рь.

Then all the trees said to the bramble, Come thou and reign over us.

И рече́ те́рніє ко древа́мъ: а́ще по и́стинѣ помазу́єте себѣ́ царя́ мене́ надъ ва́ми, пріиди́те и вни́дите подъ сѣ́нь мою́: а́ще ли же ни́, да изы́детъ о́гнь изъ те́рнія и поя́стъ ке́дры Ліва́нскія.

And the bramble said to the trees, If ye in truth anoint me to reign over you, come, stand under my shadow; and if not, let fire come out from me and devour the cedars of Libanus.

И ны́нѣ а́ще по и́стинѣ и по соверше́нству сотвори́сте, и поста́висте Авімеле́ха царе́мъ, и а́ще бла́го сотвори́сте со ієроваа́ломъ и съ до́момъ єго́, и а́ще по воздая́нію руки́ єго́ сотвори́сте єму́,

And now, if ye have done it in truth and integrity, and have made Abimelech king, and if ye have wrought well with Jerobaal, and with his house, and if ye have done to him according to the reward of his hand,

я́коже воєва́ оте́цъ мо́й по ва́съ, и пове́рже ду́шу свою́ въ страну́, и изба́ви ва́съ от руки́ Мадіа́мли:

as my father fought for you, and put his life in jeopardy, and delivered you out of the hand of Madiam;

и вы́ воста́сте на до́мъ отца́ моєго́ дне́сь и изби́сте сы́ны єго́, се́дмьдесятъ муже́й, на єди́нѣмъ ка́мени, и поста́висте царе́мъ Авімеле́ха сы́на рабы́ни єго́ надъ му́жи Сікі́мскими, я́ко бра́тъ ва́шъ є́сть:

and ye are risen up this day against the house of my father, and have slain his sons, being seventy men, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech the son of his bondwoman king over the men of Sicima, because he is your brother:

и а́ще по и́стинѣ и по соверше́нству сотвори́сте со ієроваа́ломъ и до́момъ єго́ дне́сь, благослове́ни вы́ бу́дите, и возвесели́теся о Авімеле́сѣ, и то́й о ва́съ да возвесели́тся:

if then ye have done truly and faithfully with Jerobaal, and with his house this day, rejoice ye in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice over you:

а́ще же ни́, да изы́детъ о́гнь от Авімеле́ха и поя́стъ му́жы Сікі́мски и до́мъ маалло́нь: и да изы́детъ о́гнь от муже́й Сікі́мскихъ и от до́му маалло́ня и да поя́стъ Авімеле́ха.

but if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Sicima, and the house of Beth-maalo; and let fire come out from the men of Sicima and from the house of Beth-maalo, and devour Abimelech.

И избѣже́ Іоаѳа́мъ, и побѣже́, и по́йде въ ви́ру, и всели́ся та́мо от лица́ Авімеле́ха бра́та своєго́.

And Joatham fled, and ran away, and went as far as Bæer, and dwelt there out of the way of his brother Abimelech.

И облада́ Авімеле́хъ во Ізра́или три́ лѣ́та.

And Abimelech reigned over Israel three years.

И посла́ Бо́гъ ду́хъ зо́лъ между́ Авімеле́хомъ и между́ му́жи Сікі́мскими: и возгнуша́шася му́жіє Сікі́мстіи до́момъ Авімеле́ховымъ,

And God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Sicima; and the men of Sicima dealt treacherously with the house of Abimelech:

є́же навести́ непра́вду седми́десяти сыно́въ ієроваа́лихъ и кро́ви и́хъ возложи́ти на Авімеле́ха бра́та и́хъ, и́же уби́ и́хъ, и на му́жы Сікі́мски, я́ко укрѣпи́ша ру́цѣ єго́ изби́ти бра́тію свою́:

to bring the injury done to the seventy sons of Jerobaal, and to lay their blood upon their brother Abimelech, who slew them, and upon the men of Sicima, because they strengthened his hands to slay his brethren.

и поста́виша на́нь му́жіє Сікі́мстіи подса́ды на версѣ́хъ го́ръ, и разграбля́ху всѣ́хъ иду́щихъ къ ни́мъ на пути́. И возвѣсти́ся сіє́ Авімеле́ху.

And the men of Sicima set liers in wait against him on the top of the mountains, and robbed every one who passed by them on the way; and it was reported to the king Abimelech.

И пріи́де гаа́лъ сы́нъ Аве́довъ и бра́тія єго́, и преидо́ша въ Сікі́му, и упова́ша на него́ му́жіє Сікі́мстіи:

And Gaal son of Jobel came, and his brethren, and passed by Sicima, and the men of Sicima trusted in him.

и изыдо́ша на село́, и обра́ша віногра́ды своя́, и изгнето́ша, и сотвори́ша ли́ки: и ходи́ша во хра́мъ бого́въ свои́хъ, и ядо́ша и пи́ша, клену́ще Авімеле́ха.

And they went out into the field, and gathered their grapes, and trod them, and made merry; and they brought the grapes into the house of their god, and ate and drank, and cursed Abimelech.

И рече́ гаа́лъ сы́нъ Аве́довъ: кто́ є́сть Авімеле́хъ, и кто́ є́сть сы́нъ Сихе́мль, я́ко да порабо́таємъ єму́? не сы́нъ ли ієроваа́ль, и зеву́лъ стра́жъ єго́ ра́бъ єго́ съ му́жи Єммо́ра отца́ Сихе́мля? и почто́ и́мамы рабо́тати єму́?

And Gaal the son of Jobel said, Who is Abimelech, and who is the son of Sychem, that we should serve him? Is he not the son of Jerobaal, and is not Zebul his steward, his servant with the son of Emmor the father of Sychem? and why should we serve him?

и кто́ да́стъ лю́ди сія́ въ ру́ку мою́? и преста́влю Авімеле́ха, и реку́ ко Авімеле́ху: умно́жи си́лу твою́, и изы́ди.

And would that this people were under my hand! then would I remove Abimelech, and I would say to him, Multiply thy host, and come out.

И услы́ша зеву́лъ кня́зь гра́да словеса́ гаа́ла сы́на Аве́дова, и разгнѣ́вася я́ростію:

And Zebul the ruler of the city heard the words of Gaal the son of Jobel, and he was very angry.

и посла́ послы́ ко Авімеле́ху о́тай, глаго́ля: се́, гаа́лъ сы́нъ Аве́довъ и бра́тія єго́ пріидо́ша въ Сихе́му, и се́, сі́и обсѣдя́тъ на тя́ гра́дъ:

And he sent messengers to Abimelech secretly, saying, Behold, Gaal the son of Jobel and his brethren are come to Sychem; and behold, they have besieged the city against thee.

и ны́нѣ воста́ни но́щію ты́ и лю́діє и́же съ тобо́ю, и зася́ди до зау́трія на селѣ́:

And now rise up by night, thou and the people with thee, and lay wait in the field.

и бу́детъ ра́но, єгда́ взы́детъ со́лнце, обу́трѣєши и протя́гнешися ко гра́ду: и се́, то́й и лю́діє и́же съ ни́мъ изы́дутъ къ тебѣ́, и сотвори́ши єму́, єли́ко возмо́жетъ рука́ твоя́.

And it shall come to pass in the morning at sunrising, thou shalt rise up early and draw toward the city; and behold, he and the people with him will come forth against thee, and thou shalt do to him according to thy power.

И воста́ Авімеле́хъ и вси́ лю́діє, и́же съ ни́мъ, но́щію, и засѣдо́ша на Сихе́мъ на четы́ри ча́сти.

And Abimelech and all the people with him rose up by night, and formed an ambuscade against Sychem in four companies.

И бы́сть зау́тра, и изы́де гаа́лъ сы́нъ Аве́довъ и ста́ предъ две́рію вра́тъ гра́дскихъ. И воста́ Авімеле́хъ и лю́діє, и́же съ ни́мъ, от заса́ды.

And Gaal the son of Jobel went forth, and stood by the door of the gate of the city: and Abimelech and the people with him rose up from the ambuscade.

И ви́дѣ гаа́лъ сы́нъ Аве́довъ лю́ди и рече́ къ зеву́лу: се́, наро́дъ люді́й исхо́дитъ съ верхо́въ го́ръ. И рече́ къ нему́ зеву́лъ: стѣ́нь го́ръ ты́ ви́диши я́ко му́жы.

And Gaal the son of Jobel saw the people, and said to Zebul, Behold, a people comes down from the top of the mountains: and Zebul said to him, Thou seest the shadow of the mountains as men.

И приложи́ єще́ гаа́лъ глаго́лати и рече́: се́, лю́діє исхо́дятъ при мо́ри от высоты́ земли́, и по́лкъ єди́нъ и́детъ путе́мъ дубра́вы маонені́мъ.

And Gaal continued to speak and said, Behold, a people comes down westward from the part bordering on the middle of the land, and another company comes by the way of Helon Maonenim.

И рече́ къ нему́ зеву́лъ: и гдѣ́ су́ть ны́нѣ уста́ твоя́ глаго́лющая: кто́ є́сть Авімеле́хъ, я́ко порабо́таємъ єму́? не сі́и ли су́ть лю́діє, я́же ты́ уничто́жилъ єси́? изы́ди у́бо ны́нѣ, и ополчи́ся проти́ву и́хъ.

And Zebul said to him, And where is thy mouth as thou spokest, Who is Abimelech that we should serve him? Is not this the people whom thou despisedst? go forth now, and set the battle in array against him.

И изы́де гаа́лъ предъ му́жы сихе́мски, и ополчи́ся проти́ву Авімеле́ху:

And Gaal went forth before the men of Sychem, and set the battle in array against Abimelech.

и погна́ єго́ Авімеле́хъ, и побѣже́ от лица́ єго́: и падо́ша я́звенніи мно́зи да́же до вра́тъ гра́дскихъ.

And Abimelech pursued him, and he fled from before him; and many fell down slain as far as the door of the gate.

И вни́де Авімеле́хъ во Арі́му: и зеву́лъ изгна́ гаа́ла и бра́тію єго́, да не живу́тъ въ Сихе́мѣ.

And Abimelech entered into Arema, and Zebul cast out Gaal and his brethren, so that they should not dwell in Sychem.

И бы́сть нау́тріє, и изыдо́ша лю́діє на по́ле, и повѣ́даша Авімеле́ху:

And it came to pass on the second day that the people went out into the field, and one brought word to Abimelech.

и взя́ люді́й, и раздѣли́ и́хъ на три́ ча́сти, и зася́де на селѣ́: и ви́дѣ, и се́, лю́діє изыдо́ша изъ гра́да, и воста́ на ня́, и изби́ и́хъ.

And he took the people, and divided them into three companies, and formed an ambush in the field; and he looked, and, behold, the people went forth out of the city, and he rose up against them, and smote them.

И Авімеле́хъ и нача́лницы, и́же съ ни́мъ, протяго́шася и ста́ша у две́рій вра́тъ гра́дскихъ: и двѣ́ ча́сти пролія́шася на вся́, я́же на селѣ́, и изби́ша я́.

And Abimelech and the chiefs of companies that were with him rushed forward, and stood by the door of the gate of the city; and the two other companies rushed forward upon all that were in the field, and smote them.

Авімеле́хъ же добыва́ше гра́да ве́сь де́нь то́й, и взя́ гра́дъ, и лю́ди и́же въ не́мъ изби́, и разори́ гра́дъ, и посѣ́я въ не́мъ со́ль.

And Abimelech fought against the city all that day, and took the city, and slew the people that were in it, and destroyed the city, and sowed it with salt.

И услы́шаша сіє́ вси́ му́жіє столпа́ Сихе́мля и внидо́ша въ тве́рдь до́му [бо́га] веѳилвері́ѳъ.

And all the men of the tower of Sychem heard, and came to the gathering of Bæthel-berith.

И возвѣсти́ся Авімеле́ху, я́ко собра́шася вси́ му́жіє столпа́ Сихе́мска.

And it was reported to Abimelech, that all the men of the tower of Sychem were gathered together.

И взы́де Авімеле́хъ на го́ру селмо́нъ са́мъ и вси́ лю́діє, и́же съ ни́мъ: и взя́ Авімеле́хъ сѣки́ру въ ру́ку свою́, и усѣче́ вѣ́твь от дре́ва, и воздви́же ю́, и возложи́ на ра́му свою́: и рече́ лю́демъ и́же съ ни́мъ: є́же ви́дѣсте мя́ творя́ща, сотвори́те ско́ро я́коже и а́зъ.

And Abimelech went up to the mount of Selmon, and all the people that were with him; and Abimelech took an axe in his hand, and cut down a branch of a tree, and took it, and laid it on his shoulders; and said to the people that were with him, What ye see me doing, do quickly as I.

И усѣко́ша вси́ лю́діє вѣ́твія и взя́ша, и поидо́ша вслѣ́дъ Авімеле́ха, и возложи́ша на тверды́ню, и запали́ша на ни́хъ тверды́ню огне́мъ: и изомро́ша вси́ лю́діє столпа́ Сихе́мска до ты́сящи муже́й и же́нъ.

And they cut down likewise even every man a branch, and went after Abimelech, and laid them against the place of gathering, and burnt the place of gathering over them with fire; and they died, even all the men of the tower of Sicima, about a thousand men and women.

И и́де Авімеле́хъ въ Ѳиви́съ и обся́де єго́, и взя́ єго́:

And Abimelech went out of Bæthel-berith, and encamped against Thebes, and took it.

и сто́лпъ бѣ́ тве́рдъ средѣ́ гра́да, и вбѣго́ша ту́ вси́ му́жіє и жены́ и вси́ старѣ́йшины гра́да, и заключи́шася, и взыдо́ша на кро́въ столпа́:

And there was a strong tower in the midst of the city; and thither all the men and the women of the city fled, and shut the door without them, and went up on the roof of the tower.

и пріи́де Авімеле́хъ до столпа́, и супроти́вишася єму́: и приступи́ Авімеле́хъ ко врато́мъ столпа́, є́же запали́ти єго́ огне́мъ:

And Abimelech drew near to the tower, and they besieged it; and Abimelech drew near to the door of the tower to burn it with fire.

и све́рже жена́ єди́на уло́мокъ жерно́вный на главу́ Авімеле́ха, и сокруши́ єму́ те́мя:

And a woman cast a piece of a millstone upon the head of Abimelech, and broke his skull.

и возопи́ ско́ро Авімеле́хъ ко о́троку нося́щему сосу́ды єго́ и рече́ єму́: извлецы́ ме́чь тво́й и убі́й мя́, да не реку́тъ, я́ко жена́ уби́ єго́. И прободе́ єго́ о́трокъ єго́, и у́мре.

And he cried out quickly to the young man his armour-bearer, and said to him, Draw thy sword, and slay me, lest at any time they should say, A woman slew him: and his young man thrust him through and he died.

И ви́дѣша му́жіє Ізра́илстіи, я́ко у́мре Авімеле́хъ: и отидо́ша кі́йждо на своє́ мѣ́сто.

And the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead; and they went each to his place.

И воздаде́ Бо́гъ зло́ Авімеле́ху, є́же сотвори́ отцу́ своєму́, уби́въ се́дмьдесятъ бра́тій свои́хъ:

So God requited the wickedness of Abimelech, which he wrought against his father, in slaying his seventy brethren.

и вся́ку зло́бу муже́й Сихе́млихъ обрати́ Бо́гъ на главы́ и́хъ: и взы́де на ня́ кля́тва Іоаѳа́ма сы́на ієроваа́ля.

And all the wickedness of the men of Sychem God requited upon their head; and the curse of Joatham the son of Jerobaal came upon them.

И воста́ по Авімеле́сѣ спасти́ Ізра́иля Ѳола́ сы́нъ Фуи́, сы́нъ бра́та отца́ єго́, му́жъ от Іссаха́ра: и се́й живя́ше въ самі́рѣ въ горѣ́ Єфре́мовѣ,

And after Abimelech Thola the son of Phua rose up to save Israel, being the son of his father's brother, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Samir in mount Ephraim.

и суди́ Ізра́иля лѣ́тъ два́десять три́, и у́мре, и погребе́нъ бы́сть въ самі́рѣ.

And he judged Israel twenty-three years, and died, and was buried in Samir.

И воста́ по не́мъ Іаі́ръ Галааді́тинъ, и суди́ Ізра́иля лѣ́тъ два́десять два́:

And after him arose Jair of Galaad, and he judged Israel twenty-two years.

и бы́ша єму́ сы́нове три́десять два́ ѣ́здящіи на три́десяти дву́хъ ослѣ́хъ: и гра́ды и́мъ три́десять два́: и прозыва́ху и́хъ гра́ды Іаі́ровы, да́же до дне́сь, и́же су́ть въ земли́ Галаа́довѣ:

And he had thirty-two sons riding on thirty-two colts, and they had thirty-two cities; and they called them Jair's towns until this day in the land of Galaad.

и у́мре Іаі́ръ, и погребе́нъ бы́сть въ камо́нѣ.

And Jair died, and was buried in Rhamnon.

И приложи́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы твори́ти зло́є предъ Го́сподемъ и послужи́ша Ваалі́мамъ и Астаро́ѳамъ и бого́мъ си́рскимъ и бого́мъ Сідо́нскимъ и бого́мъ Моа́влскимъ и бого́мъ сыно́въ Аммо́нихъ и бого́мъ иноплеме́нниковъ: и оста́виша Го́спода и не рабо́таша єму́.

And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim, and Astaroth, and the gods of Aram, and the gods of Sidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Phylistines; and they forsook the Lord, and did not serve him.

И разгнѣ́вася Госпо́дь я́ростію на Ізра́иля и предаде́ и́хъ въ ру́ку Филісті́мску и въ ру́ку сыно́въ Аммо́нихъ.

And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and sold them into the hand of the Phylistines, and into the hand of the children of Ammon.

И озло́биша, и сокруши́ша сыно́въ Ізра́илевыхъ въ то́ вре́мя осмьна́десять лѣ́тъ, всѣ́хъ сыно́въ Ізра́илевыхъ, и́же объ ону́ страну́ Іорда́на въ земли́ Аморре́а и́же въ Галаа́дѣ.

And they afflicted and bruised the children of Israel at that time eighteen years, all the children of Israel beyond Jordan in the land of the Amorite in Galaad.

И преидо́ша сы́нове Аммо́ни Іорда́нъ воєва́ти на Іу́ду и Веніамі́на и на до́мъ Єфре́мовъ: и оскорбле́ни бы́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы зѣло́.

And the children of Ammon went over Jordan to fight with Juda, and Benjamin, and with Ephraim; and the children of Israel were greatly afflicted.

И возопи́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы ко Го́споду, глаго́люще: согрѣши́хомъ тебѣ́, я́ко оста́вихомъ Бо́га на́шего и рабо́тахомъ Ваалі́му.

And the children of Israel cried to the Lord, saying, We have sinned against thee, because we have forsaken God, and served Baalim.

И рече́ Госпо́дь къ сыно́мъ Ізра́илевымъ: не от Єги́пта ли и от Аморре́а и от сыно́въ Аммо́нихъ и от Филісті́ма

And the Lord said to the children of Israel, Did I not save you from Egypt and from the Amorite, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Phylistines,

и от Сідо́нянъ и от Амали́ка и от Мадіа́ма, и́же стужи́ша ва́мъ, и возопи́сте ко мнѣ́, и спасо́хъ вы́ от руки́ и́хъ?

and from the Sidonians, and Amalec, and Madiam, who afflicted you? and ye cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand?

вы́ же оста́висте мене́ и рабо́тасте бого́мъ ины́мъ: сего́ ра́ди не приложу́ спасти́ ва́съ:

Yet ye forsook me and served other gods; therefore I will not save you any more.

иди́те и возопі́йте къ бого́мъ, и́хже избра́сте себѣ́, и ті́и да спасу́тъ вы́ во вре́мя ско́рби ва́шея.

Go, and cry to the gods whom ye have chosen to yourselves, and let them save you in the time of your affliction.

И рѣ́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы ко Го́споду: согрѣши́хомъ, сотвори́ ты́ на́мъ по всему́, єли́ко уго́дно предъ очи́ма твои́ма: то́чію изба́ви на́съ въ се́й де́нь.

And the children of Israel said to the Lord, We have sinned: do thou to us according to all that is good in thine eyes; only deliver us this day.

И изверго́ша бо́ги чужды́я от среды́ себе́ и послужи́ша Го́сподеви єди́ному: и сжалѣ́ся душа́ єго́ о утружде́ніи Ізра́илевѣ.

And they put away the strange gods from the midst of them, and served the Lord only, and his soul was pained for the trouble of Israel.

И взыдо́ша сы́нове Аммо́ни, и ополчи́шася въ Галаа́дѣ: и собра́шася и сы́нове Ізра́илевы, и ополчи́шася въ Массифѣ́.

And the children of Ammon went up, and encamped in Galaad; and the children of Israel were gathered together and encamped on the hill.

И рѣ́ша лю́діє кня́зи Галаа́дстіи кі́йждо ко бли́жнему своєму́: му́жъ, и́же на́чнетъ би́тися съ сынми́ Аммо́новыми, то́й бу́детъ кня́зь всѣ́мъ живу́щымъ въ Галаа́дѣ.

And the people the princes of Galaad said every man to his neighbour, Who is he that shall begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall even be head over all that dwell in Galaad.

И бя́ше Ієфѳа́й Галааді́тянинъ си́ленъ крѣ́постію: и то́й бы́сть сы́нъ жены́ блудни́цы, я́же роди́ Галаа́ду Ієфѳа́я.

And Jephthae the Galaadite was a mighty man; and he was the son of a harlot, who bore Jephthae to Galaad.

И роди́ жена́ Галаа́дова сыно́въ єму́: и возмужа́ша сы́нове жены́ и изгна́ша Ієфѳа́я, и реко́ша єму́: не наслѣ́диши въ дому́ отца́ на́шего, я́ко сы́нъ жены́ блу́дныя єси́ ты́.

And the wife of Galaad bore him sons; and the sons of his wife grew up, and they cast out Jephthae, and said to him, Thou shalt not inherit in the house of our father, for thou art the son of a concubine.

И отбѣже́ Ієфѳа́й от лица́ бра́тіи своєя́ и всели́ся въ земли́ то́въ: и собира́хуся ко Ієфѳа́ю му́жіє пра́здни, и хожда́ху съ ни́мъ.

And Jephthae fled from the face of his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob; and vain men gathered to Jephthae, and went out with him.

И бы́сть по дне́хъ си́хъ, и воєва́ша сы́нове Аммо́ни на Ізра́иля.

And it came to pass when the children of Ammon prepared to fight with Israel,

И єгда́ воєва́ша сы́нове Аммо́ни на Ізра́иля, и поидо́ша старѣ́йшины Галаа́довы поя́ти Ієфѳа́я от земли́ то́въ,

that the elders of Galaad went to fetch Jephthae from the land of Tob.

и реко́ша ко Ієфѳа́ю: пріиди́ и бу́ди на́мъ нача́лникъ, и ополчи́мся на сы́ны Аммо́ни.

And they said to Jephthae, Come, and be our head, and we will fight with the sons of Ammon.

И рече́ Ієфѳа́й старѣ́йшинамъ Галаа́дскимъ: не вы́ ли возненави́дѣсте мя́, и изгна́сте мя́ изъ до́му отца́ моєго́, и отпусти́сте мя́ от себе́? и почто́ пріидо́сте ко мнѣ́ ны́нѣ, єгда́ ну́жду возъимѣ́сте?

And Jephthae said to the elders of Galaad, Did ye not hate me, and cast me out of my father's house, and banish me from you? and wherefore are ye come to me now when ye want me?

И реко́ша старѣ́йшины Галаа́дстіи ко Ієфѳа́ю: сего́ ра́ди ны́нѣ пріидо́хомъ къ тебѣ́, да по́йдеши съ на́ми, и ополчи́мся на сы́ны Аммо́ни: и бу́деши на́мъ кня́зь всѣ́мъ живу́щымъ въ Галаа́дѣ.

And the elders of Galaad said to Jephthae, Therefore have we now turned to thee, that thou shouldest go with us, and fight against the sons of Ammon, and be our head over all the inhabitants of Galaad.

И рече́ Ієфѳа́й ко старѣ́йшинамъ Галаа́довымъ: а́ще возвраща́єте мя́ ополчи́тися на сы́ны Аммо́ни, и преда́стъ и́хъ Госпо́дь предо мно́ю, и а́зъ ва́мъ бу́ду ли кня́зь?

And Jephthae said to the elders of Galaad, If ye turn me back to fight with the children of Ammon, and the Lord should deliver them before me, then will I be your head.

И реко́ша старѣ́йшины Галаа́дстіи ко Ієфѳа́ю: Госпо́дь да бу́детъ по́слухъ между́ на́ми, а́ще по сло́ву твоєму́ та́ко не сотвори́мъ.

And the elders of Galaad said to Jephthae, The Lord be witness between us, if we shall not do according to thy word.

И по́йде Ієфѳа́й со старѣ́йшинами Галаа́дскими, и поста́виша єго́ лю́діє надъ собо́ю главу́ и кня́зя: и глаго́ла Ієфѳа́й вся́ словеса́ своя́ предъ Го́сподемъ въ Массифѣ́.

And Jephthae went with the elders of Galaad, and the people made him head and ruler over them: and Jephthae spoke all his words before the Lord in Massepha.

И посла́ Ієфѳа́й послы́ къ царю́ сыно́въ Аммо́нихъ, глаго́ля: что́ мнѣ́ и тебѣ́, я́ко прише́лъ єси́ ко мнѣ́ воєва́ти на земли́ моє́й?

And Jephthae sent messengers to the king of the children of Ammon, saying, What have I to do with thee, that thou hast come against me to fight in my land?

И рече́ ца́рь сыно́въ Аммо́нихъ къ посло́мъ Ієфѳа́євымъ: я́ко взя́ Ізра́иль зе́млю мою́, єгда́ изы́де изъ Єги́пта, от Арно́на да́же до Іаво́ка и до Іорда́на: и ны́нѣ возврати́ ю́ съ ми́ромъ, и отиду́.

And the king of the children of Ammon said to the messengers of Jephthae, Because Israel took my land when he went up out of Egypt, from Arnon to Jaboc, and to Jordan: now then return them peaceably and I will depart.

И возврати́шася послы́ ко Ієфѳа́ю. И приложи́ єще́ Ієфѳа́й, и посла́ послы́ къ царю́ сыно́въ Аммо́нихъ, и реко́ша єму́:

And Jephthae again sent messengers to the king of the children of Ammon,

та́ко глаго́летъ Ієфѳа́й: не взя́ Ізра́иль земли́ Моа́вли и земли́ сыно́въ Аммо́нихъ,

and said to him, Thus says Jephthae, Israel took not the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon;

поне́же єгда́ исхожда́ше изъ Єги́пта, по́йде Ізра́иль по пусты́ни до мо́ря чермна́го, и пріи́де до Ка́диса:

for in their going up out of Egypt Israel went in the wilderness as far as the sea of Siph, and came to Cades.

и посла́ Ізра́иль послы́ къ царю́ Єдо́мску, глаго́ля: да прейду́ сквозѣ́ зе́млю твою́: и не послу́ша ца́рь Єдо́мскъ: та́кожде посыла́ и къ царю́ Моа́вску, и не восхотѣ́: и сѣ́де Ізра́иль въ Ка́дисѣ:

And Israel sent messengers to the king of Edom, saying, I will pass, if it please thee, by thy land: and the king of Edom complied not: and Israel also sent to the king of Moab, and he did not consent; and Israel sojourned in Cades.

и и́де пусты́нею, и обы́де зе́млю Єдо́млю и зе́млю Моа́влю, и пріи́де на восто́ки со́лнца земли́ Моа́вли, и ополчи́ся объ ону́ страну́ Арно́на, и не вни́де въ предѣ́лы Моа́вли, я́ко Арно́нъ бя́ше предѣ́лъ Моа́вль:

And they journeyed in the wilderness, and compassed the land of Edom and the land of Moab: and they came by the east of the land of Moab, and encamped in the country beyond Arnon, and came not within the borders of Moab, for Arnon is the border of Moab.

и посла́ Ізра́иль послы́ къ сио́ну царю́ Аморре́йску, царю́ єсево́нску, и рече́ къ нему́ Ізра́иль: да пре́йдемъ по земли́ твоє́й до мѣ́ста на́шего:

And Israel sent messengers to Seon king of the Amorite, king of Esebon, and Israel said to him, Let us pass, we pray thee, by thy land to our place.

и не восхотѣ́ сио́нъ Ізра́илю преити́ по предѣ́ломъ свои́мъ, и собра́ сио́нъ вся́ лю́ди своя́, и ополчи́ся во Іа́сѣ, и воєва́ на Ізра́иля:

And Seon did not trust Israel to pass by his coast; and Seon gathered all his people, and they encamped at Jasa; and he set the battle in array against Israel.

и предаде́ Госпо́дь Бо́гъ Ізра́илевъ сио́на и вся́ лю́ди єго́ въ ру́ки Ізра́иля, и изби́ и́хъ:

And the Lord God of Israel delivered Seon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they smote him; and Israel inherited all the land of the Amorite who dwelt in that land,

и наслѣ́дова Ізра́иль всю́ зе́млю Аморре́а живу́щаго на земли́ то́й: и взя́ ве́сь предѣ́лъ Аморре́йскъ от Арно́на да́же до Іаво́ка, и от пусты́ни до Іорда́на:

from Arnon and to Jaboc, and from the wilderness to Jordan.

и ны́нѣ Госпо́дь Бо́гъ Ізра́илевъ изгна́ Аморре́а от лица́ люді́й свои́хъ Ізра́иля, и ты́ ли хо́щеши наслѣ́дити єго́?

And now the Lord God of Israel has removed the Amorite from before his people Israel, and shalt thou inherit his land?

ни́, но єли́ко даде́ въ наслѣ́діє тебѣ́ хамо́съ бо́гъ тво́й, сія́ да наслѣ́диши: а всѣ́хъ, и́хже изгна́ Госпо́дь Бо́гъ на́шъ от лица́ на́шего, сія́ мы́ наслѣ́димъ:

Wilt thou not inherit those possessions which Chamos thy god shall cause thee to inherit; and shall not we inherit the land of all those whom the Lord our God has removed from before you?

и ны́нѣ єда́ лу́чшій єси́ ты́ Вала́ка сы́на Сепфо́рова, царя́ Моа́вля? не бра́нію ли боря́шеся со Ізра́илемъ, или́ вою́я воєва́ єго́?

And now art thou any better than Balac son of Sepphor, king of Moab? Did he indeed fight with Israel, or indeed make war with him,

єгда́ всели́ся Ізра́иль во єсево́нѣ и въ предѣ́лѣхъ єго́, и во Арои́рѣ и въ предѣ́лѣхъ єго́, и во всѣ́хъ градѣ́хъ, и́же у Іорда́на, три́ста лѣ́тъ, и почто́ не изба́вилъ єси́ и́хъ во вре́мя о́но?

when Israel dwelt in Esebon and in its coasts, and in the land of Aroer and in its coasts, and in all the cities by Jordan, three hundred years? and wherefore didst thou not recover them in that time?

а́зъ же не согрѣши́хъ тебѣ́, и ты́ твори́ши со мно́ю зло́, вою́я на мя́: да су́дитъ Госпо́дь судя́й дне́сь между́ сы́ны Ізра́илевыми и между́ сы́ны Аммо́ни.

And now I have not sinned against thee, but thou wrongest me in preparing war against me: may the Lord the Judge judge this day between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon.

И не послу́ша ца́рь сыно́въ Аммо́нихъ слове́съ Ієфѳа́євыхъ, я́же посыла́ше къ нему́.

But the king of the children of Ammon hearkened not to the words of Jephthae, which he sent to him.

И бы́сть на Ієфѳа́и Ду́хъ Госпо́день, и пре́йде Галаа́да и Манассі́ю, и пре́йде стражбу́ Галаа́дову, и от стражбы́ Галаа́довы и́де на о́ну страну́ сыно́въ Аммо́нихъ.

And the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthae, and he passed over Galaad, and Manasse, and passed by the watch-tower of Galaad to the other side of the children of Ammon.

И обѣща́ Ієфѳа́й обѣ́тъ Го́сподеви и рече́: а́ще преда́ніємъ преда́си сы́ны Аммо́ни въ ру́ку мою́,

And Jephthae vowed a vow to the Lord, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver the children of Ammon into my hand,

и бу́детъ исходя́й, и́же а́ще изы́детъ изъ вра́тъ до́му моєго́ во срѣ́теніє мнѣ́, єгда́ возвращу́ся съ ми́ромъ от сыно́въ Аммо́нихъ, и бу́детъ Го́сподеви, и вознесу́ єго́ во всесожже́ніє.

then it shall come to pass that whosoever shall first come out of the door of my house to meet me when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, he shall be the Lord's: I will offer him up for a whole-burnt-offering.

И пріи́де Ієфѳа́й къ сыно́мъ Аммо́нимъ воєва́ти на ня́: и предаде́ я́ Госпо́дь въ ру́цѣ єго́

And Jephthae advanced to meet the sons of Ammon to fight against them; and the Lord delivered them into his hand.

и изби́ и́хъ от Арои́ра, до́ндеже пріити́ въ мені́ѳъ, два́десять градо́въ, и да́же до Аве́ля віногра́довъ, я́звою вели́кою зѣло́. И покоре́ни бы́ша сы́нове Аммо́ни предъ лице́мъ сыно́въ Ізра́илевыхъ.

And he smote them from Aroer till one comes to Arnon, in number twenty cities, and as far as Ebelcharmim, with a very great destruction: and the children of Ammon were straitened before the children of Israel.

И пріи́де Ієфѳа́й въ Массифу́ въ до́мъ сво́й: и се́, дще́рь єго́ исхожда́ше во срѣ́теніє єго́ съ тимпа́ны и ли́ки: и сія́ бя́ше єдиноро́дна єму́ возлю́бленна: и не бѣ́ єму́ сы́на, ни другі́я дще́ре, кромѣ́ єя́.

And Jephthae came to Massepha to his house; and behold, his daughter came forth to meet him with timbrels and dances; and she was his only child, he had not another son or daughter.

И бы́сть єгда́ уви́дѣ ю́ са́мъ, растерза́ ри́зы своя́ и рече́: о, дщи́ моя́, смуща́ющи смути́ла мя́ єси́: и ты́ ны́нѣ въ претыка́ніє была́ єси́ предъ очи́ма мои́ма: а́зъ бо отверзо́хъ уста́ моя́ на тя́ ко Го́споду и не возмогу́ вспя́ть возврати́ти.

And it came to pass when he saw her, that he rent his garments, and said, Ah, ah, my daughter, thou hast indeed troubled me, and thou wast the cause of my trouble; and I have opened my mouth against thee to the Lord, and I shall not be able to return from it.

И рече́ къ нему́: о́тче, а́ще отве́рзлъ єси́ уста́ твоя́ ко Го́споду, сотвори́ мнѣ́, я́коже изы́де изо у́стъ твои́хъ, зане́же сотвори́ тебѣ́ Госпо́дь ме́сть враго́мъ твои́мъ от сыно́въ Аммо́нихъ.

And she said to him, Father, hast thou opened thy mouth to the Lord? Do to me accordingly as the word went out of thy mouth, in that the Lord has wrought vengeance for thee on thine enemies of the children of Ammon.

И рече́ ко отцу́ своєму́: сотвори́, о́тче мо́й, сіє́ сло́во: оста́ви мя́ два́ мѣ́сяца, да пойду́ и взы́ду на го́ры и пла́чуся дѣ́вства моєго́ а́зъ и други́ни мои́.

And she said to her father, Let my father now do this thing: let me alone for two months, and I will go up and down on the mountains, and I will bewail my virginity, I and my companions.

И рече́: иди́. И отпусти́ ю́ на два́ мѣ́сяца: и и́де сама́ и други́ни єя́, и пла́кася дѣ́вства своєго́ на гора́хъ.

And he said, Go: and he sent her away for two months; and she went, and her companions, and she bewailed her virginity on the mountains.

И бы́сть въ концѣ́ двою́ мѣ́сяцу, и возврати́ся ко отцу́ своєму́: и сотвори́ на не́й обѣ́тъ сво́й, и́мже обѣща́ся: и сія́ не позна́ му́жа. И бы́сть въ повелѣ́ніє во Ізра́или:

And it came to pass at the end of the two months that she returned to her father; and he performed upon her his vow which he vowed; and she knew no man:

от дні́й до дні́й исхожда́ху дще́ри Ізра́илевы пла́кати о дще́ри Ієфѳа́я Галааді́тина четы́ри дни́ въ лѣ́тѣ.

and it was an ordinance in Israel, That the daughters of Israel went from year to year to bewail the daughter of Jephthae the Galaadite for four days in a year.

И собра́шася му́жіє Єфре́мли и пріидо́ша въ сефі́ну, и рѣ́ша Ієфѳа́ю: почто́ ходи́лъ єси́ ополчи́тися на сы́ны Аммо́ни, и на́съ не позва́лъ єси́ ити́ съ тобо́ю? до́мъ тво́й съ тобо́ю сожже́мъ огне́мъ.

And the men of Ephraim assembled themselves, and passed on to the north, and said to Jephthae, Wherefore didst thou go over to fight with the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thy house over thee with fire.

И рече́ къ ни́мъ Ієфѳа́й: имѣ́хъ прю́ а́зъ и лю́діє мои́, и сы́нове Аммо́ни оскорби́ша мене́ зѣло́: и воззва́хъ ва́съ, и не изба́висте мене́ от руки́ и́хъ:

And Jephthae said to them, I and my people and the children of Ammon were very much engaged in war; and I called for you, and ye did not save me out of their hand.

и ви́дѣхъ, я́ко не бя́ше спаса́ющаго, и положи́хъ ду́шу мою́ въ ру́ку мою́, и пріидо́хъ къ сыно́мъ Аммо́нимъ, и предаде́ я́ Госпо́дь въ ру́ку мою́: и вску́ю пріидо́сте ко мнѣ́ дне́сь, ополчи́ти ли ся на мя́?

And I saw that thou wert no helper, and I put my life in my hand, and passed on to the sons of Ammon; and the Lord delivered them into my hand: and wherefore are ye come up against me this day to fight with me?

И собра́ Ієфѳа́й вся́ му́жы Галаа́дски и ополчи́ся на Єфре́ма: и изби́ша му́жіє Галаа́дстіи Єфре́ма, поне́же глаго́лаху: уцѣлѣ́вшіи от Єфре́ма, вы́ Галаа́дъ средѣ́ Єфре́ма и средѣ́ Манассі́и.

And Jephthae gathered all the men of Galaad, and fought with Ephraim; and the men of Galaad smote Ephraim, because they that were escaped of Ephraim said, Ye are of Galaad in the midst of Ephraim and in the midst of Manasse.

И зася́де Галаа́дъ прохо́ды у Іорда́на Єфре́мовы. И бы́сть єгда́ рѣ́ша уцѣлѣ́вшіи от Єфре́ма: пре́йдемъ: и реко́ша и́мъ му́жіє Галаа́дстіи: єда́ ли от Єфре́ма вы́? И рѣ́ша: нѣ́смы.

And Galaad took the fords of Jordan before Ephraim; and they that escaped of Ephraim said to them, Let us go over: and the men of Galaad said, Art thou an Ephrathite? and he said, No.

И рѣ́ша и́мъ: рцы́те, кла́съ. И не упра́виша рещи́ та́ко: и има́ху и́хъ, и закала́ху у прехо́довъ Іорда́нихъ: и падо́ша въ то́ вре́мя от Єфре́ма четы́редесять и двѣ́ ты́сящы.

Then they said to him, Say now Stachys; and he did not rightly pronounce it so: and they took him, and slew him at the fords of Jordan; and there fell at that time of Ephraim two and forty thousand.

И суди́ Ієфѳа́й Ізра́илеви лѣ́тъ ше́сть: и у́мре Ієфѳа́й Галааді́тинъ, и погребе́нъ бы́сть во гра́дѣ своє́мъ въ Галаа́дѣ.

And Jephthae judged Israel six years; and Jephthae the Galaadite died, and was buried in his city Galaad.

И суди́ по не́мъ Ізра́илеви єсево́нъ от Виѳлеє́ма:

And after him Abaissan of Bethleem judged Israel.

и бы́ша єму́ три́десять сы́ны и три́десять дще́ри, я́же отдаде́ во́нъ [муже́мъ], и три́десять же́нъ приведе́ сыно́мъ свои́мъ отвнѣ́: и суди́ Ізра́илеви се́дмь лѣ́тъ:

And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters, whom he sent forth; and he brought in thirty daughters for his sons from without; and he judged Israel seven years.

и у́мре єсево́нъ, и погребе́нъ бы́сть въ Виѳлеє́мѣ.

And Abaissan died, and was buried in Bethleem.

И суди́ по не́мъ Ізра́илеви Єло́нъ Завуло́нянинъ де́сять лѣ́тъ:

And after him Ælom of Zabulon judged Israel ten years.

и у́мре Єло́нъ Завуло́нянинъ, и погребе́нъ бы́сть во Єлі́мѣ въ земли́ Завуло́ни.

And Ælom of Zabulon died, and was buried in Ælom in the land of Zabulon.

И суди́ по не́мъ Ізра́илеви Авдо́нъ сы́нъ Єлли́ховъ фараѳоні́тинъ:

And after him Abdon the son of Ellel, the Pharathonite, judged Israel.

и бы́ша єму́ четы́редесять сы́нове и три́десять вну́цы, ѣ́здящіи на седми́десяти ослѣ́хъ: и суди́ Ізра́илеви о́смь лѣ́тъ:

And he had forty sons, and thirty grandsons, that rode upon seventy colts: and he judged Israel eight years.

и у́мре Авдо́нъ сы́нъ Єлли́ховъ фараѳоні́тинъ, и погребе́нъ бы́сть въ фараѳо́нѣ, въ земли́ Єфре́мли, въ горѣ́ Амали́ковѣ.

And Abdon the son of Ellel, the Pharathonite, died, and was buried in Pharathon in the land of Ephraim in the mount of Amalec.

И приложи́ша єще́ сы́нове Ізра́илевы твори́ти зло́ предъ Го́сподемъ: и предаде́ я́ Госпо́дь въ ру́ку Филісті́мску четы́редесять лѣ́тъ.

And the children of Israel yet again committed iniquity before the Lord; and the Lord delivered them into the hand of the Phylistines forty years.

И бя́ше му́жъ єди́нъ от Сараи́, от пле́мене Да́нова, и́мя же єму́ Мано́є: и жена́ єму́ бя́ше непло́ды и не ражда́ше.

And there was a man of Saraa, of the family of the kindred of Dan, and his name was Manoë, and his wife was barren, and bore not.

И яви́ся Ангелъ Госпо́день къ женѣ́ и рече́ къ не́й: се́, ты́ непло́ды и не ражда́ла єси́, и зачне́ши и роди́ши сы́на:

And an angel of the Lord appeared to the woman, and said to her, Behold, thou art barren and hast not born; yet thou shalt conceive a son.

и ны́нѣ блюди́ся, и не пі́й віна́ и сіке́ра, и не я́ждь вся́каго нечи́стаго:

And now be very cautious, and drink no wine nor strong drink, and eat no unclean thing;

я́ко се́, ты́ во утро́бѣ пріи́меши и роди́ши сы́на: и желѣ́зо на главу́ єго́ не взы́детъ, я́ко назоре́й Богови бу́детъ сіє́ отроча́ от чре́ва: и се́й на́чнетъ спаса́ти Ізра́иля изъ руки́ Филісті́мли.

for behold, thou art with child, and shalt bring forth a son; and there shall come no razor upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb; and he shall begin to save Israel from the hand of the Phylistines.

И вни́де жена́ и рече́ му́жу своєму́, глаго́лющи: человѣ́къ Бо́жій пріи́де ко мнѣ́, и о́бразъ єго́ я́ко о́бразъ Ангела Бо́жія, стра́шенъ зѣло́: и вопроша́хъ єго́, отку́ду єси́? и и́мене своєго́ не повѣ́да ми́,

And the woman went in, and spoke to her husband, saying, A man of God came to me, and his appearance was as of an angel of God, very dreadful; and I did not ask him whence he was, and he did not tell me his name.

и рече́ мнѣ́: се́, ты́ во утро́бѣ зачне́ши и роди́ши сы́на: и ны́нѣ не пі́й віна́, ни сіке́ра, и не я́ждь вся́каго нечи́стаго, я́ко назоре́й Бо́гу бу́детъ о́трочищь от утро́бы да́же до дне́ сме́рти своєя́.

And he said to me, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bring forth a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, and eat no unclean thing; for the child shall be holy to God from the womb until the day of his death.

И помоли́ся Мано́є ко Го́споду и рече́: во мнѣ́, Го́споди, человѣ́къ Бо́жій, єго́же посла́лъ єси́, да пріи́детъ єще́ къ на́мъ и наста́витъ ны́, что́ сотвори́мъ отроча́ти ражда́ющемуся.

And Manoë prayed to the Lord and said, I pray thee, O Lord my Lord, concerning the man of God whom thou sentest; let him now come to us once more, and teach us what we shall do to the child about to be born.

И послу́ша Бо́гъ моли́твы Мано́євы: и пріи́де па́ки Ангелъ Бо́жій къ женѣ́, сія́ же сѣдя́ше на селѣ́, и Мано́є му́жъ єя́ не бя́ше съ не́ю.

And the Lord heard the voice of Manoë, and the angel of God came yet again to the woman; and she sat in the field, and Manoë her husband was not with her.

И потща́ся жена́, и те́кши ско́ро повѣ́да му́жу своєму́, и рече́ къ нему́: се́, яви́ся мнѣ́ му́жъ, и́же приходи́лъ въ де́нь о́нъ ко мнѣ́.

And the woman hasted, and ran, and brought word to her husband, and said to him, Behold the man who came in the other day to me has appeared to me.

И воста́въ и́де Мано́є вслѣ́дъ жены́ своєя́, и пріи́де къ му́жу и рече́ єму́: ты́ ли єси́ му́жъ глаго́лавый къ женѣ́ [моє́й]? И рече́ Ангелъ: а́зъ.

And Manoë arose and followed his wife, and came to the man, and said to him, Art thou the man that spoke to the woman? and the angel said, I am.

И рече́ Мано́є: ны́нѣ у́бо да пріи́детъ сло́во твоє́, кі́й бу́детъ су́дъ отроча́те, и что́ дѣла́ єго́?

And Manoë said, Now shall thy word come to pass: what shall be the ordering of the child, and our dealings with him?

И рече́ Ангелъ Госпо́день къ Мано́ю: от всѣ́хъ, я́же глаго́лахъ къ женѣ́, да сохрани́тся:

And the angel of the Lord said to Manoë, Of all things concerning which I spoke to the woman, she shall beware.

от всего́, є́же исхо́дитъ изъ віногра́да, да не я́стъ, и віна́ и сіке́ра да не піє́тъ, и вся́каго нечи́стаго да не я́стъ: и вся́, єли́ка заповѣ́дахъ є́й, да храни́тъ.

She shall eat of nothing that comes of the vine yielding wine, and let her not drink wine or strong liquor, and let her not eat anything unclean: all things that I have charged her she shall observe.

И рече́ Мано́є ко Ангелу Госпо́дню: да удержи́мъ тя́ здѣ́, и сотвори́мъ предъ тобо́ю ко́злище от ко́зъ.

And Manoë said to the angel of the Lord, Let us detain thee here, and prepare before thee a kid of the goats.

И рече́ Ангелъ Госпо́день къ Мано́ю: а́ще мя́ пону́диши, не бу́ду я́сти хлѣ́ба твоєго́: но а́ще сотвори́ши всесожже́ніє Го́сподеви, то́ вознеси́ є́. Не вѣ́дяше бо Мано́є, я́ко Ангелъ Госпо́день то́й.

And the angel of the Lord said to Manoë, If thou shouldest detain me, I will not eat of thy bread; and if thou wouldest offer a whole-burnt-offering, to the Lord thou shalt offer it: for Manoë knew not that he was an angel of the Lord.

И рече́ Мано́є ко Ангелу Госпо́дню: что́ и́мя твоє́? да єгда́ сбу́дется сло́во твоє́, просла́вимъ тя́.

And Manoë said to the angel of the Lord, What is thy name, that when thy word shall come to pass, we may glorify thee?

И рече́ єму́ Ангелъ Госпо́день: почто́ сіє́ вопроша́єши и́мене моєго́? и то́ є́сть чу́дно.

And the angel of the Lord said to him, Why dost thou thus ask after my name; whereas it is wonderful?

И взя́ Мано́є ко́злища от ко́зъ и же́ртву, и вознесе́ на ка́мень Го́сподеви чу́дная творя́щему: Мано́є же и жена́ єго́ зря́ста.

And Manoë took a kid of the goats and its meat-offering, and offered it on the rock to the Lord; and the angel wrought a distinct work, and Manoë and his wife were looking on.

И бы́сть єгда́ пла́мень взы́де вы́ше олтаря́ да́же до небесе́, и взы́де Ангелъ Госпо́день въ пла́мени олтаря́: Мано́є же и жена́ єго́ смотря́ста, и падо́ста лице́мъ свои́мъ на зе́млю.

And it came to pass when the flame went up above the altar toward heaven, that the angel of the Lord went up in the flame; and Manoë and his wife were looking, and they fell upon their face to the earth.

И не приложи́ ктому́ Ангелъ Госпо́день яви́тися Мано́ю и женѣ́ єго́. Тогда́ увѣ́дѣ Мано́є, я́ко Ангелъ Госпо́день є́сть.

And the angel appeared no more to Manoë and to his wife: then Manoë knew that this was an angel of the Lord.

И рече́ Мано́є къ женѣ́ своє́й: сме́ртію у́мремъ, я́ко Бо́га ви́дѣхомъ.

And Manoë said to his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.

И рече́ єму́ жена́ єго́: а́ще бы хотѣ́лъ Госпо́дь умертви́ти на́съ, не бы́ взя́лъ от ру́къ на́шихъ всесожже́нія и же́ртвы, и не бы́ показа́лъ на́мъ си́хъ всѣ́хъ, и не бы́ слы́шана сія́ сотвори́лъ на́мъ я́коже ны́нѣ.

But his wife said to him, If the Lord were pleased to slay us, he would not have received of our hand a whole-burnt-offering and a meat-offering; and he would not have shewn us all these things, neither would he have caused us to hear all these things as at this time.

И роди́ жена́ сы́на, и нарече́ и́мя єму́ Сампсо́нъ. И возмужа́ отроча́, и благослови́ є́ Госпо́дь:

And the woman brought forth a son, and she called his name Sampson; and the child grew, and the Lord blessed him.

и нача́ Ду́хъ Госпо́день ходи́ти съ ни́мъ въ полцѣ́ Да́новѣ, посредѣ́ Сараи́ и посредѣ́ Єсѳао́ла.

And the Spirit of the Lord began to go out with him in the camp of Dan, and between Saraa and Esthaol.

И сни́де сампсо́нъ во Ѳамна́ѳу и ви́дѣ жену́ во Ѳамна́ѳѣ от дще́рей Филісті́мскихъ, и уго́дна бы́сть предъ ни́мъ.

And Sampson went down to Thamnatha, and saw a woman in Thamnatha of the daughters of the Philistines.

И взы́де и повѣ́да отцу́ своєму́ и ма́тери своє́й, и рече́: жену́ ви́дѣхъ во Ѳамна́ѳѣ от дще́рей Филісті́мскихъ, и ны́нѣ поими́те ю́ мнѣ́ въ жену́.

And he went up and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Thamnatha of the daughters of the Phylistines; and now take her to me for a wife.

И рече́ єму́ оте́цъ єго́ и ма́ти єго́: єда́ нѣ́сть дще́рей от бра́тіи твоєя́ и от всѣ́хъ люді́й мои́хъ жены́, я́ко ты́ и́деши поя́ти жену́ от дще́рей иноплеме́нниковъ необрѣ́занныхъ? И рече́ сампсо́нъ ко отцу́ своєму́: сію́ поими́ мнѣ́, я́ко та́ уго́дна є́сть предъ очи́ма мои́ма.

And his father and his mother said to him, Are there no daughters of thy brethren, and is there not a woman of all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Sampson said to his father, Take her for me, for she is right in my eyes.

Оте́цъ же єго́ и ма́ти єго́ не разумѣ́ша, я́ко сіє́ от Го́спода є́сть, я́ко отмще́нія о́нъ и́щетъ от Филісті́млянъ: въ то́ бо вре́мя владя́ху Филісті́мляне сы́ны Ізра́илевыми.

And his father and his mother knew not that it was of the Lord, that he sought to be revenged on the Philistines: and at that time the Philistines lorded it over Israel.

И сни́де сампсо́нъ и оте́цъ єго́ и ма́ти єго́ во Ѳамна́ѳу, и пріидо́ша до віногра́да Ѳамна́ѳа: и се́, льви́чищь рыка́ющь во срѣ́теніє єму́.

And Sampson and his father and his mother went down to Thamnatha, and he came to the vineyard of Thamnatha; and behold, a young lion roared in meeting him.

И сни́де на него́ Ду́хъ Госпо́день, и растерза́ єго́ я́ко ко́злища от ко́зъ, и ничто́же бя́ше въ руку́ єго́: и не повѣ́да отцу́ своєму́ и ма́тери своє́й, є́же сотвори́.

And the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him, and he crushed him as he would have crushed a kid of the goats, and there was nothing in his hands: and he told not his father and his mother what he had done.

И поидо́ша и реко́ша женѣ́, и уго́дна бы́сть предъ очи́ма сампсо́на.

And they went down and spoke to the woman, and she was pleasing in the eyes of Sampson.

И возврати́ся по дне́хъ поя́ти ю́, и обрати́ся ви́дѣти тру́пъ льво́въ, и се́, ро́й пче́лъ во устѣ́хъ льво́выхъ и ме́дъ:

And after some time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcase of the lion; and behold, a swarm of bees, and honey were in the mouth of the lion.

и изъя́ єго́ от у́стъ єго́ въ ру́цѣ свои́, и идя́ше иды́й и яды́й: и по́йде ко отцу́ своєму́ и ма́тери своє́й, и даде́ и́мъ, и ядо́ша: и не повѣ́да и́мъ, я́ко от у́стъ льво́выхъ изъя́ се́й ме́дъ.

And he took it into his hands, and went on eating, and he went to his father and his mother, and gave to them, and they did eat; but he told them not that he took the honey out of the mouth of the lion.

И сни́де оте́цъ єго́ къ женѣ́, и сотвори́ сампсо́нъ та́мо пи́ръ се́дмь дні́й, я́ко та́ко творя́тъ ю́ношы:

And his father went down to the woman, and Sampson made there a banquet for seven days, for so the young men are used to do.

и бы́сть внегда́ боя́тися и́мъ єго́, приста́виша къ нему́ три́десять друго́въ, и бы́ша съ ни́мъ:

And it came to pass when they saw him, that they took thirty guests, and they were with him.

и рече́ и́мъ сампсо́нъ: предлага́ю ны́нѣ ва́мъ гада́ніє, и а́ще отгада́юще повѣ́дите мнѣ́ сіє́ въ се́дмь дні́й пи́ра и обря́щете, да́мъ ва́мъ три́десять поня́въ и три́десять ри́зъ оде́ждъ:

And Sampson said to them, I propound you a riddle: if ye will indeed tell it me, and discover it within the seven days of the feast, I will give you thirty sheets and thirty changes of raiment.

а́ще же не возмо́жете сіє́ повѣ́дати мнѣ́, дади́те вы́ мнѣ́ три́десять поня́въ и три́десять ри́зъ измѣ́нныхъ. И реко́ша єму́: предложи́ гада́ніє твоє́, и услы́шимъ є́.

And if ye cannot tell it me, ye shall give me thirty napkins and thirty changes of apparel: and they said to him, Propound thy riddle, and we will hear it.

И глаго́ла и́мъ: от яду́щаго ядо́моє изы́де, и от крѣ́пкаго изы́де сла́дкоє. И не мого́ша повѣ́дати гада́нія до тре́хъ дні́й.

And he said to them, Meat came forth of the eater, and sweetness out of the strong: and they could not tell the riddle for three days.

И бы́сть въ де́нь четве́ртый, и реко́ша женѣ́ сампсо́новѣ: прельсти́ му́жа своєго́, и да повѣ́сть тебѣ́ гада́ніє, да не сожже́мъ тя́ и до́мъ отца́ твоєго́ огне́мъ: или́ оубо́жити призва́сте ны́?

And it came to pass on the fourth day, that they said to the wife of Sampson, Deceive now thy husband, and let him tell thee the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father's house with fire: did ye invite us to do us violence?

И пла́кася жена́ сампсо́нова предъ ни́мъ и рече́: ра́звѣ возненави́дѣлъ єси́ мене́ и не возлюби́лъ єси́ мене́, я́ко гада́нія, є́же єси́ предложи́лъ сыно́мъ люді́й мои́хъ, не повѣ́далъ єси́ єго́ мнѣ́. И рече́ є́й сампсо́нъ: се́, отцу́ моєму́ и ма́тери моє́й не повѣ́дахъ сего́, и тебѣ́ ли повѣ́мъ?

And Sampson's wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and lovest me not; for the riddle which thou hast propounded to the children of my people, thou hast not told me: and Sampson said to her, If I have not told it to my father and my mother, shall I tell it to thee?

И пла́кася предъ ни́мъ се́дмь дні́й, въ ня́же бѣ́ и́мъ пи́ръ. И бы́сть въ де́нь седмы́й, и повѣ́да є́й, я́ко стужи́ єму́: и та́ повѣ́да сыно́мъ люді́й свои́хъ.

And she wept before him the seven days, during which their banquet lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she troubled him; and she told it to the children of her people.

И реко́ша єму́ му́жіє гра́дстіи въ де́нь седмы́й пре́жде заше́ствія со́лнца: что́ сла́ждше ме́да? и что́ крѣ́плѣє льва́? И рече́ и́мъ сампсо́нъ: а́ще не бы́сте ора́ли ю́ницею моє́ю, не бы́сте увѣ́дали гада́нія моєго́.

And the men of the city said to him on the seventh day, before sunrise, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? and Sampson said to them, If ye had not ploughed with my heifer, ye would not have known my riddle.

И нападе́ на него́ Ду́хъ Госпо́день, и сни́де во Аскало́нъ, и изби́ та́мо три́десять муже́й, и взя́ ри́зы и́хъ, и даде́ ри́зы повѣ́давшымъ гада́ніє. И разгнѣ́вася я́ростію сампсо́нъ, и взы́де въ до́мъ отца́ своєго́.

And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him powerfully, and he went down to Ascalon, and destroyed of the inhabitants thirty men, and took their garments, and gave the changes of raiment to them that told the riddle; and Sampson was very angry, and went up to the house of his father.

Жена́ же сампсо́нова и́де за ина́го му́жа, и́же бы́сть єди́нъ от друго́въ єго́.

And the wife of Sampson was given to one of his friends, with whom he was on terms of friendship.

И бы́сть по дне́хъ во дни́ жа́твы пшени́цы, и посѣти́ сампсо́нъ жену́ свою́, несы́й ко́злище от ко́зъ, и рече́: да вни́ду къ женѣ́ моє́й въ ло́жницу. И не даде́ єму́ оте́цъ єя́ вни́ти.

And it came to pass after a time, in the days of wheat harvest, that Sampson visited his wife with a kid, and said, I will go in to my wife even into the chamber: but her father did not suffer him to go in.

И рече́ оте́цъ єя́, глаго́ля: рѣ́хъ, я́ко ненави́дя возненави́дѣлъ єси́ ю́, и отда́хъ ю́ єди́ному от друго́въ твои́хъ: не се́ ли сестра́ єя́ ме́ншая добрѣ́йши єя́ є́сть? да бу́детъ тебѣ́ ны́нѣ вмѣ́сто єя́.

And her father spoke, saying, I said that thou didst surely hate her, and I gave her to one of thy friends: is not her younger sister better than she? let her be to thee instead of her.

И рече́ єму́ сампсо́нъ: чи́стъ є́смь ны́нѣ от Филісті́млянъ, я́ко сотворю́ а́зъ съ ни́ми зло́.

And Sampson said to them, Even for once am I guiltless with regard to the Philistines, in that I do mischief among them.

И по́йде сампсо́нъ, и я́тъ три́ста лиси́цъ, и взя́ свѣщы́, и связа́ о́шибъ ко о́шибу, и устро́и єди́ну свѣщу́ между́ двѣма́ о́шибома:

And Sampson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took torches, and turned tail to tail, and put a torch between two tails, and fastened it.

и разжже́ о́гнь въ свѣща́хъ, и пусти́ я́ въ ни́вы Филісті́мски: и запали́ ни́вы от гуме́нъ и да́же до кла́совъ просты́хъ и до віногра́да и ма́сличія.

And he set fire to the torches, and sent the foxes into the corn of the Philistines; and every thing was burnt from the threshing floor to the standing corn, and even to the vineyard and olives.

И реко́ша иноплеме́нницы: кто́ сотвори́ сія́? И реко́ша: сампсо́нъ зя́ть Ѳамнаѳе́євъ, я́ко взя́ жену́ єго́ и даде́ ю́ єди́ному от друго́въ єго́. И взыдо́ша иноплеме́нницы и сожго́ша ю́ и до́мъ отца́ єя́ огне́мъ.

And the Philistines said, Who has done these things? and they said, Sampson the son-in-law of the Thamnite, because he has taken his wife, and given her to one of his friends; and the Philistines went up, and burnt her and her father's house with fire.

И рече́ и́мъ сампсо́нъ: а́ще и сотвори́сте вы́ та́ко є́й, а́зъ не благоизво́лю, но отмще́ніє моє́ єди́ному кому́ждо ва́съ сотворю́, и посе́мъ почі́ю.

And Sampson said to them, Though ye may have dealt thus with her, verily I will be avenged of you, and afterwards I will cease.

И порази́ и́хъ го́лени до бе́дръ я́звою ве́лією: и сни́де, и всели́ся у водоте́чи въ пеще́рѣ ка́мене ита́ма.

And he smote them leg on thigh with a great overthrow; and went down and dwelt in a cave of the rock Etam.

И изыдо́ша Филісті́мляне, и ополчи́шася во Іу́дѣ, и разсѣ́яшася въ лехі́.

And the Philistines went up, and encamped in Juda, and spread themselves abroad in Lechi.

И рече́ и́мъ вся́къ му́жъ Іу́динъ: почто́ пріидо́сте на ны́? И реко́ша иноплеме́нницы: связа́ти сампсо́на пріидо́хомъ и сотвори́ти єму́, я́коже сотвори́ на́мъ.

And the men of Juda said, Why are ye come up against us? and the Philistines said, We are come up to bind Sampson, and to do to him as he has done to us.

И снидо́ша три́ ты́сящы муже́й от Іу́ды къ пеще́рѣ ка́мене ита́ма и реко́ша къ сампсо́ну: не вѣ́си ли, я́ко владѣ́ютъ на́ми Филісті́мляне? и вску́ю сія́ сотвори́лъ єси́ на́мъ? И рече́ и́мъ сампсо́нъ: я́коже ми́ сотвори́ша, та́ко сотвори́хъ и́мъ.

And the three thousand men of Juda went down to the hole of the rock Etam, and they said to Sampson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines rule over us? and what is this that thou hast done to us? and Sampson said to them, As they did to me, so have I done to them.

И реко́ша єму́: связа́ти тебе́ пріидо́хомъ и преда́ти тя́ въ ру́цѣ иноплеме́нникомъ. И рече́ и́мъ сампсо́нъ: клени́теся мнѣ́, да не убіє́те мене́ вы́.

And they said to him, We are come down to bind thee to deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines: and Sampson said to them, Swear to me that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.

И реко́ша єму́, глаго́люще: ни́, но то́кмо соу́зомъ свя́жемъ тя́ и предади́мъ тя́ въ ру́ки и́хъ, сме́ртію же не умертви́мъ тебе́. И связа́ша єго́ двѣма́ у́жы но́выми и изведо́ша єго́ от ка́мене того́.

And they spoke to him, saying, Nay, but we will only bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand, and will by no means slay thee: and they bound him with two new ropes, and brought him from that rock.

И то́й пріи́де до че́люсти: иноплеме́нницы же воскли́кнуша и теко́ша проти́ву єму́. И сни́де на него́ Ду́хъ Госпо́день, и бы́ша у́жя на мы́шцахъ єго́ я́ко изгре́біє, єгда́ зажже́тся огне́мъ: и разрѣши́шася у́зы єго́ от руку́ єго́:

And they came to Lechi: and the Philistines shouted, and ran to meet him: and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and the ropes that were upon his arms became as tow which is burnt with fire; and his bonds were consumed from off his hands.

и обрѣ́те че́люсть о́слю пове́ржену, и простре́ ру́ку свою́, и взя́ ю́: и изби́ є́ю ты́сящу муже́й.

And he found the jaw-bone of an ass that had been cast away, and he put forth his hand and took it, and smote with it a thousand men.

И рече́ сампсо́нъ: че́люстію о́слею потребля́я потреби́хъ и́хъ, я́ко че́люстію о́слею изби́хъ ты́сящу муже́й.

And Sampson said, With the jaw-bone of an ass I have utterly destroyed them, for with the jaw-bone of an ass I have smitten a thousand men.

И бы́сть єгда́ преста́ глаго́ля, и пове́рже че́люсть от руки́ своєя́: и нарече́ мѣ́сто то́є избіє́ніє че́люстноє.

And it came to pass when he ceased speaking, that he cast the jaw-bone out of his hand; and he called that place the Lifting of the jaw-bone.

И возжажда́ зѣло́, и возопи́ ко Го́споду, и рече́: ты́ благоволи́лъ єси́ въ ру́цѣ раба́ твоєго́ спасе́ніє вели́коє сіє́, и ны́нѣ умира́ю жа́ждею, и впаду́ въ ру́ки необрѣ́занныхъ.

And he was very thirsty, and wept before the Lord, and said, Thou hast been well pleased to grant this great deliverance by the hand of thy servant, and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?

И разве́рзе Бо́гъ я́зву на че́люсти, и изы́де изъ нея́ вода́, и пи́: и возврати́ся ду́хъ єго́, и оживе́: сего́ ра́ди прозва́ся и́мя є́й исто́чникъ призыва́ющаго, и́же є́сть въ че́люсти, да́же до дне́ сего́.

And God broke open a hollow place in the jaw, and there came thence water, and he drank; and his spirit returned and he revived: therefore the name of the fountain was called ‘The well of the invoker,’ which is in Lechi, until this day.

И суди́ Ізра́илю во дни́ Филісті́млянъ два́десять лѣ́тъ.

And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.

И и́де сампсо́нъ въ Га́зу, и ви́дѣ та́мо жену́ блудни́цу и вни́де къ не́й.

And Sampson went to Gaza, and saw there a harlot, and went in to her.

И повѣ́даша га́зяномъ, глаго́люще: пріи́де сампсо́нъ сѣ́мо. И обыдо́ша и подсѣдо́ша єму́ всю́ но́щь у вра́тъ гра́дныхъ, и утаи́шася всю́ но́щь, глаго́люще: до́ндеже освѣта́єтъ у́тро, и убіє́мъ єго́.

And it was reported to the Gazites, saying, Sampson is come hither: and they compassed him and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and they were quiet all the night, saying, Let us wait till the dawn appear, and we will slay him.

И спа́ сампсо́нъ до полу́нощи: и воста́ въ полу́нощи, и восхи́ти две́ри у вра́тъ гра́да со обѣ́ими верея́ми, и подъя́ о́ныя съ заво́рою, и возложи́ я́ на ра́мена своя́, и вознесе́ я́ на ве́рхъ горы́, я́же предъ лице́мъ Хевро́на, и положи́ и́хъ та́мо.

And Sampson slept till midnight, and rose up at midnight, and took hold of the doors of the gate of the city with the two posts, and lifted them up with the bar, and laid them on his shoulders, and he went up to the top of the mountain that is before Chebron, and laid them there.

И бы́сть по се́мъ, и возлюби́ жену́ от водоте́чи сори́ховы: и́мя же є́й далі́да.

And it came to pass after this that he loved a woman in Alsorech, and her name was Dalida.

И взыдо́ша къ не́й кня́зи иноплеме́нничи и реко́ша є́й: прельсти́ єго́, и ви́ждь, въ че́мъ є́сть крѣ́пость єго́ вели́кая, и чи́мъ премо́жемъ єго́, и свя́жемъ єго́, я́ко смири́ти єго́: и мы́ тебѣ́ дади́мъ кі́йждо ты́сящу и сто́ сре́брениковъ.

And the princes of the Philistines came up to her, and said to her, Beguile him, and see wherein his great strength is, and wherewith we shall prevail against him, and bind him to humble him; and we will give thee each eleven hundred pieces of silver.

И рече́ далі́да къ сампсо́ну: повѣ́ждь ми́ ны́нѣ, въ че́мъ крѣ́пость твоя́ [та́ко] вели́кая, и чи́мъ свя́жешися и смири́шися?

And Dalida said to Sampson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein is thy great strength, and wherewith thou shalt be bound that thou mayest be humbled.

И рече́ є́й сампсо́нъ: а́ще свя́жутъ мя́ седмію́ тятива́ми сыры́ми неистлѣ́вшими, и изнемогу́, и бу́ду я́ко єди́нъ от человѣ́къ.

And Sampson said to her, If they bind me with seven moist cords that have not been spoiled, then shall I be weak and be as one of ordinary men.

И принесо́ша є́й кня́зи от иноплеме́нникъ се́дмь тяти́въ мо́крыхъ неистлѣ́вшихъ, и связа́ єго́ и́ми:

And the princes of the Philistines brought to her seven moist cords that had not been spoiled, and she bound him with them.

и подса́да єму́ сѣдя́ше въ хра́минѣ. И рече́ єму́: иноплеме́нницы на тя́, сампсо́не. И расто́рже тятивы́, а́ки бы кто́ расто́ргнулъ соска́ніє изгре́бій, єгда́ ко́снется єму́ о́гнь: и не увѣ́дася крѣ́пость єго́.

And the liers in wait remained with her in the chamber; and she said to him, The Philistines are upon thee, Sampson: and he broke the cords as if any one should break a thread of tow when it has touched the fire, and his strength was not known.

И рече́ далі́да къ сампсо́ну: се́, прельсти́лъ єси́ мя́, глаго́ля ко мнѣ́ лжу́: ны́нѣ у́бо повѣ́ждь ми́, чи́мъ свя́жешися?

And Dalida said to Sampson, Behold, thou hast cheated me, and told me lies; now then tell me wherewith thou shalt be bound.

И рече́ къ не́й: а́ще вя́жуще свя́жутъ мя́ у́жы но́выми, и́миже не дѣ́лано, и изнемогу́, и бу́ду я́ко єди́нъ от человѣ́къ.

And he said to her, If they should bind me fast with new ropes with which work has not been done, then shall I be weak, and shall be as another man.

И взя́ далі́да у́жы но́вы и связа́ єго́ и́ми, и рече́ єму́: иноплеме́нницы на тя́, сампсо́не. Подса́да же сѣдя́ше въ хра́минѣ. И расто́рже я́ от руку́ своє́ю а́ки ни́ть.

And Dalida took new ropes, and bound him with them, and the liers in wait came out of the chamber, and she said, The Philistines are upon thee, Sampson: and he broke them off his arms like a thread.

И рече́ далі́да къ сампсо́ну: да́же до ны́нѣ прельща́лъ мя́ єси́ и глаго́лалъ ко мнѣ́ лжу́: повѣ́ждь ми́ у́бо, чи́мъ свя́жешися? И рече́ є́й: а́ще сплете́ши се́дмь плени́цъ вла́съ главы́ моєя́ спряде́ніємъ и вбіє́ши ко́ломъ въ стѣ́ну, и бу́ду не́мощенъ я́ко єди́нъ от человѣ́къ.

And Dalida said to Sampson, Behold, thou hast deceived me, and told me lies; tell me, I intreat thee, wherewith thou mayest be bound: and he said to her, If thou shouldest weave the seven locks of my head with the web, and shouldest fasten them with the pin into the wall, then shall I be weak as another man.

И успи́ далі́да єго́ на колѣ́нѣхъ свои́хъ, и бы́сть внегда́ усну́ти єму́, взя́ далі́да се́дмь плени́цъ вла́съ главы́ єго́ и сплете́ спряде́ніємъ и вонзе́ ко́ломъ въ стѣ́ну, и рече́: иноплеме́нницы на тя́, сампсо́не. И возбну́ от сна́ своєго́ и исто́рже ко́лъ сплете́ніємъ изъ стѣны́, и не увѣ́дася крѣ́пость єго́.

And it came to pass when he was asleep, that Dalida took the seven locks of his head, and wove them with the web, and fastened them with the pin into the wall, and she said, The Philistines are upon thee, Sampson: and he awoke out of his sleep, and carried away the pin of the web out of the wall.

И рече́ къ нему́ далі́да: ка́ко глаго́леши, возлюби́хъ тя́, и се́рдце твоє́ нѣ́сть со мно́ю? се́, тре́тіє прельсти́лъ єси́ мя́, и не повѣ́далъ єси́ мнѣ́, въ че́мъ крѣ́пость твоя́ вели́кая.

And Dalida said to Sampson, How sayest thou, I love thee, when thy heart is not with me? this third time thou hast deceived me, and hast not told me wherein is thy great strength.

И бы́сть єгда́ стужи́ єму́ словесы́ свои́ми по вся́ дни́, и убѣди́ єго́, и изнемо́же да́же до уме́ртвія.

And it came to pass as she pressed him sore with her words continually, and straitened him, that his spirit failed almost to death.

И повѣ́да є́й все́ се́рдце своє́, и рече́ къ не́й: желѣ́зо не взы́де на главу́ мою́, я́ко назоре́й є́смь а́зъ Го́споду от утро́бы ма́тере моєя́: а́ще у́бо обрі́юся, отсту́питъ от мене́ крѣ́пость моя́, и изнемогу́, и бу́ду я́коже вси́ человѣ́цы.

Then he told her all his heart, and said to her, A razor has not come upon my head, because I have been a holy one of God from my mother's womb; if then I should be shaven, my strength will depart from me, and I shall be weak, and I shall be as all other men.

И ви́дѣ далі́да, я́ко повѣ́да є́й все́ се́рдце своє́, посла́ и призва́ кня́зи иноплеме́нничи, глаго́лющи: взы́дите єще́ єди́ною, я́ко повѣ́да ми́ все́ се́рдце своє́. И взыдо́ша къ не́й вси́ кня́зи иноплеме́нничи, и принесо́ша сребро́ въ рука́хъ свои́хъ.

And Dalida saw that he told her all his heart, and she sent and called the princes of the Philistines, saying, Come up yet this once; for he has told me all his heart. And the chiefs of the Philistines went up to her, and brought the money in their hands.

И успи́ далі́да сампсо́на на колѣ́нѣхъ свои́хъ: и призва́ стригача́, и остриже́ се́дмь плени́цъ вла́съ главы́ єго́: и нача́ смиря́тися, и отступи́ крѣ́пость єго́ от него́.

And Dalida made Sampson sleep upon her knees; and she called a man, and he shaved the seven locks of his head, and she began to humble him, and his strength departed from him.

И рече́ далі́да: иноплеме́нницы на тя́, сампсо́не. И возбуди́ся от сна́ своєго́ и рече́: изы́ду я́коже и пре́жде, и отрясу́ся. И не разумѣ́, я́ко Госпо́дь отступи́ от него́.

And Dalida said, The Philistines are upon thee, Sampson: and he awoke out of his sleep and said, I will go out as at former times, and shake myself; and he knew not that the Lord was departed from him.

И я́ша єго́ иноплеме́нницы, и избодо́ша єму́ о́чи, и введо́ша єго́ въ Га́зу, и окова́ша єго́ пу́ты мѣ́дяны: и бя́ше меля́ въ хра́минѣ темни́чнѣй.

And the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he ground in the prison-house.

И нача́ша власы́ главы́ єго́ расти́ по остриже́ніи.

And the hair of his head began to grow as before it was shaven.

И кня́зи иноплеме́нничи собра́шася пожре́ти же́ртву вели́ку даго́ну бо́гу своєму́ и возвесели́тися, и реко́ша: предаде́ бо́гъ на́шъ въ ру́ки на́шя сампсо́на врага́ на́шего.

And the chiefs of the Philistines met to offer a great sacrifice to their god Dagon, and to make merry; and they said, God has given into our hand our enemy Sampson.

И ви́дѣша єго́ лю́діє, и похвали́ша бо́га своєго́, я́ко рѣ́ша: предаде́ бо́гъ на́шъ въ ру́ки на́шя врага́ на́шего, опустоши́вшаго зе́млю на́шу, и и́же умно́жи я́звенныхъ на́шихъ.

And the people saw him, and sang praises to their god; for our god, said they, has delivered into our hand our enemy, who wasted our land, and who multiplied our slain.

И бы́сть єгда́ возблажа́ се́рдце и́хъ, и реко́ша: призови́те сампсо́на изъ до́му темни́чнаго, и да игра́єтъ предъ на́ми. И призва́ша сампсо́на изъ до́му темни́чнаго, и игра́ше предъ ни́ми: и зауша́ху єго́, и поста́виша єго́ между́ столпы́.

And when their heart was merry, then they said, Call Sampson out of the prison-house, and let him play before us: and they called Sampson out of the prison-house, and he played before them; and they smote him with the palms of their hands, and set him between the pillars.

И рече́ сампсо́нъ ко ю́ноши держа́щему єго́ за ру́ку: оста́ви мене́, да осяжу́ столпы́, на ни́хже до́мъ се́й утвержде́нъ є́сть, и опру́ся на ни́хъ. Ю́ноша же сотвори́ та́ко.

And Sampson said to the young man that held his hand, Suffer me to feel the pillars on which the house rests, and I will stay myself upon them.

До́мъ же бя́ше по́лнъ муже́й и же́нъ, и та́мо вси́ кня́зи иноплеме́нничи: на кро́вѣ же то́мъ до тре́хъ ты́сящъ муже́й и же́нъ, зря́ще руга́ємаго сампсо́на.

And the house was full of men and women, and there were all the chiefs of the Philistines, and on the roof were about three thousand men and women looking at the sports of Sampson.

И воззва́ сампсо́нъ ко Го́споду и рече́: Адонаі́ Го́споди, Го́споди си́лъ, помяни́ мя ны́нѣ, и укрѣпи́ мя єще́ єди́ною, Бо́же, да возда́мъ мще́ніє єди́но за два́ о́ка моя́ Филісті́момъ.

And Sampson wept before the Lord, and said, O Lord, my Lord, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, O God, yet this once, and I will requite one recompense to the Philistines for my two eyes.

И объя́ сампсо́нъ о́ба столпа́ сре́днія, на ни́хже хра́мина бя́ше утвержде́на, и опре́ся на ни́хъ, держя́ єди́нъ руко́ю десно́ю, а другі́й лѣ́вою.

And Sampson took hold of the two pillars of the house on which the house stood, and leaned on them, and laid hold of one with his right hand, and the other with his left.

И рече́ сампсо́нъ: да у́мретъ душа́ моя́ со иноплеме́нники. И преклони́ся крѣ́постію, и паде́ хра́мина на кня́зи и на вся́ лю́ди и́же въ не́й: и бы́сть ме́ртвыхъ, и́хже умертви́ сампсо́нъ при сме́рти своє́й, мно́жає не́же и́хже умертви́ въ животѣ́ своє́мъ.

And Sampson said, Let my life perish with the Philistines: and he bowed himself mightily; and the house fell upon the princes, and upon all the people that were in it: and the dead whom Sampson slew in his death were more than those whom he slew in his life.

И снидо́ша бра́тія єго́ и ве́сь до́мъ отца́ єго́, и взя́ша єго́: и взыдо́ша, и погребо́ша єго́ между́ сараи́ и между́ єсѳао́ломъ во гро́бѣ мано́я отца́ єго́. И се́й суди́ Ізра́илю лѣ́тъ два́десять. [И воста́ по сампсо́нѣ Ємега́ръ сы́нъ Єна́нь, и уби́ от иноплеме́нниковъ ше́сть со́тъ муже́й кромѣ́ скота́, и спасе́ и о́нъ Ізра́иля.]

And his brethren and his father's house went down, and they took him; and they went up and buried him between Saraa and Esthaol in the sepulchre of his father Manoë; and he judged Israel twenty years.

И бы́сть му́жъ от горы́ Єфре́мли, и и́мя єму́ мі́ха:

And there was a man of mount Ephraim, and his name was Michaias.

и рече́ ма́тери своє́й: ты́сяща и сто́ сре́брениковъ и́же укра́дены у тебе́, и заклина́ла мя́ єси́ и глаго́лала єси́ во у́шы мои́: се́, сребро́ у мене́, а́зъ взя́хъ є́. И рече́ ма́ти єго́: благослове́нъ сы́нъ мо́й Го́сподеви.

And he said to his mother, The eleven hundred pieces of silver which thou tookest to thyself, and about which thou cursedst me, and spokest in my ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it: and his mother said, Blessed be my son of the Lord.

И отдаде́ ты́сящу и сто́ сре́брениковъ ма́тери своє́й. И рече́ ма́ти єго́: освяща́ющи освяти́хъ сребро́ Го́сподеви от руки́ моєя́, тебѣ́ сы́нови моєму́ сотвори́ти [кумі́ръ] изва́янъ и слія́нъ, и ны́нѣ отда́мъ є́ тебѣ́.

And he restored the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother; and his mother said, I had wholly consecrated the money to the Lord out of my hand for my son, to make a graven and a molten image, and now I will restore it to thee.

И отдаде́ сребро́ ма́тери своє́й. И взя́ ма́ти єго́ двѣ́сти сре́брениковъ и даде́ и́хъ сребродѣ́лю, и сотвори́ то́є [кумі́ръ] изва́янъ и слія́нъ: и бы́сть въ дому́ мі́хи.

But he returned the silver to his mother, and his mother took two hundred pieces of silver, and gave them to a silversmith, and he made it a graven and a molten image; and it was in the house of Michaias.

И до́мъ мі́хинъ єму́ до́мъ Бо́жій. И сотвори́ Єфу́дъ {Гре́ч.: єпомі́съ, славе́н.: нара́мникъ.} и ѳерафі́нъ {і́доли}: и напо́лни ру́ку єди́ному от сыно́въ свои́хъ, и бы́сть єму́ жре́цъ.

And the house of Michaias was to him the house of God, and he made an ephod and theraphin, and he consecrated one of his sons, and he became to him a priest.

Въ ты́я же дни́ не бя́ше царя́ во Ізра́или: кі́йждо му́жъ, є́же пра́во ви́дяшеся предъ очи́ма єго́, творя́ше.

And in those days there was no king in Israel; every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

И бы́сть ю́ноша от Виѳлеє́ма Іу́дина и от ро́да пле́мене Іу́дина, и се́й Леві́тинъ, и обита́ше та́мо:

And there was a young man in Bethleem of the tribe of Juda, and he was a Levite, and he was sojourning there.

и по́йде се́й му́жъ от гра́да Виѳлеє́ма Іу́дина обита́ти, идѣ́же обря́щетъ мѣ́сто: и пріи́де до горы́ Єфре́мли и да́же до до́му мі́хина, є́же сотвори́ти пу́ть сво́й.

And the man departed from Bethleem the city of Juda to sojourn in whatever place he might find; and he came as far as mount Ephraim, and to the house of Michaias to accomplish his journey.

И рече́ єму́ мі́ха: отку́ду и́деши? И рече́ єму́ Леві́тинъ: а́зъ є́смь от Виѳлеє́ма Іу́дина, и иду́ обита́ти, идѣ́же обря́щу мѣ́сто.

And Michaias said to him, Whence comest thou? and he said to him, I am a Levite of Bethleem Juda, and I go to sojourn in any place I may find.

И рече́ єму́ мі́ха: сѣди́ со мно́ю и бу́ди ми́ оте́цъ и жре́цъ, и а́зъ да́мъ тебѣ́ сре́брениковъ де́сять въ го́дъ и дво́и ри́зы, и я́же на житіє́ тебѣ́.

And Michaias said to him, Dwell with me, and be to me a father and a priest; and I will give thee ten pieces of silver by the year, and a change of raiment, and thy living.

И по́йде леві́тъ, и нача́ обита́ти у му́жа. И бы́сть ю́ноша єму́ я́ко єди́нъ от сыно́въ єго́.

And the Levite went and began to dwell with the man; and the young man was to him as one of his sons.

И напо́лни мі́ха ру́ку Леві́тину, и бы́сть єму́ ю́ноша жре́цъ, и бя́ше въ дому́ мі́хи.

And Michaias consecrated the Levite, and he became to him a priest, and he was in the house of Michaias.

И рече́ мі́ха: ны́нѣ увѣ́дѣхъ, я́ко благосотвори́тъ мнѣ́ Госпо́дь, я́ко бы́сть мнѣ́ Леві́тинъ жре́цъ.

And Michaias said, Now I know that the Lord will do me good, because a Levite has become my priest.

Въ ты́я дни́ не бя́ше царя́ во Ізра́или: и въ ты́я дни́ пле́мя да́ново иска́ше себѣ́ наслѣ́дія всели́тися, я́ко не паде́ єму́ наслѣ́діє до дні́й о́ныхъ средѣ́ племе́нъ сыно́въ Ізра́илевыхъ.

In those days there was no king in Israel; and in those days the tribe of Dan sought for itself an inheritance to inhabit, because no inheritance had fallen to it until that day in the midst of the tribes of the children of Israel.

И посла́ша сы́нове Да́новы от со́нмовъ свои́хъ пя́ть муже́й от ча́сти своєя́, му́жы си́льны от сараи́ и єсѳао́ла, согля́дати зе́млю и изслѣ́дити ю́, и реко́ша къ ни́мъ: иди́те и изслѣ́дите зе́млю. И пріидо́ша до горы́ Єфре́мли, до до́му мі́хина, и ста́ша та́мо въ дому́ мі́хи.

And the sons of Dan sent from their families five men of valour, from Saraa and from Esthaol, to spy out the land and to search it; and they said to them, Go and search out the land. And they came as far as the mount of Ephraim to the house of Michaias and they lodged there,

И ті́и позна́ша гла́съ ю́ноши Леві́тина, и уклони́шася та́мо, и реко́ша єму́: кто́ тя́ приведе́ сѣ́мо? и что́ твори́ши въ мѣ́стѣ се́мъ? и что́ тебѣ́ здѣ́?

in the house of Michaias, and they recognised the voice of the young man the Levite, and turned in thither; and said to him, Who brought thee in hither? and what doest thou in this place? and what hast thou here?

И рече́ и́мъ: си́це и си́це сотвори́ мнѣ́ мі́ха, и ная́ мя́, и бы́хъ єму́ жре́цъ.

And he said to them, Thus and thus did Michaias to me, and he hired me, and I became his priest.

И реко́ша єму́: вопроси́ у́бо Бо́га, и увѣ́мы, а́ще благопоспѣши́тся пу́ть на́шъ, въ о́ньже мы́ и́демъ.

And they said to him, Enquire now of God, and we shall know whether our way will prosper, on which we are going.

И рече́ и́мъ жре́цъ: иди́те съ ми́ромъ: предъ Го́сподемъ пу́ть ва́шъ, въ о́ньже и́дете.

And the priest said to them, Go in peace; your way in which ye go, is before the Lord.

И идо́ша пя́ть му́жіє и пріидо́ша въ лаі́съ: и ви́дѣша люді́й живу́щихъ въ не́мъ, сѣдя́щихъ со упова́ніємъ по обы́чаю Сідо́нянъ, въ тишинѣ́ и наде́ждѣ, и не бѣ́ устраша́яй, или́ посрамля́яй словесе́ на земли́, наслѣ́дникъ истязу́яй сокро́вища: зане́ дале́че бя́ху от Сідо́нянъ, и не имя́ху словесе́ съ кі́имъ либо человѣ́комъ.

And the five men went on, and came to Laisa; and they saw the people in the midst of it dwelling securely, at ease as is the manner of the Sidonians, and there is no one perverting or shaming a matter in the land, no heir extorting treasures; and they are far from the Sidonians, and they have no intercourse with any one.

И пріидо́ша пя́ть муже́й ко бра́тіи своє́й въ сараю́ и єсѳао́лъ и реко́ша бра́тіи своє́й: что́ вы́ сѣдите́?

And the five men came to their brethren to Saraa and Esthaol, and said to their brethren, Why sit ye here idle?

И рѣ́ша: воста́ните, и взы́демъ на ня́, зане́ ви́дѣхомъ зе́млю, и се́, блага́ зѣло́, и вы́ молчи́те: не облѣни́теся ити́ и вни́ти є́же наслѣ́дити зе́млю:

And they said, Arise, and let us go up against them, for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good, yet ye are still: delay not to go, and to enter in to possess the land.

и єгда́ пріи́дете, вни́дете въ лю́ди живу́щыя со упова́ніємъ, а земля́ простра́нна: я́ко предаде́ ю́ Бо́гъ въ ру́ки ва́шя, мѣ́сто на не́мже нѣ́сть ску́дости во все́мъ є́же на земли́.

And whensoever ye shall go, ye shall come in upon a people secure, and the land is extensive, for God has given it into your hand; a place where there is no want of anything that the earth affords.

И воздвиго́шася отту́ду от пле́мене да́нова, от сараи́ и єсѳао́ла, ше́сть со́тъ муже́й препоя́сани во ору́жіє ополче́нія,

And there departed thence of the families of Dan, from Saraa and from Esthaol, six hundred men, girded with weapons of war.

и взыдо́ша и ополчи́шася въ каріаѳіарі́мѣ во Іу́дѣ: сего́ ра́ди нарече́ся мѣ́сто то́ по́лкъ да́новъ и до сего́ дне́: се́ созади́ каріаѳіарі́ма.

And they went up, and encamped in Cariathiarim in Juda; therefore it was called in that place the camp of Dan, until this day: behold, it is behind Cariathiarim.

И преидо́ша отту́ду въ го́ру Єфре́млю и пріидо́ша до до́му мі́хина.

And they went on thence to the mount of Ephraim, and came to the house of Michaias.

И отвѣща́ша пя́ть муже́й ходи́вшіи согля́дати зе́млю лаі́съ и реко́ша ко бра́тіи своє́й: разумѣ́сте ли, я́ко є́сть въ дому́ се́мъ Єфу́дъ и Ѳерафі́нъ, и изва́яно и слія́но? и ны́нѣ увѣ́дите, что́ сотворите́.

And the five men who went to spy out the land of Laisa answered, and said to their brethren, Ye know that there is in this place an ephod, and theraphin, and a graven and a molten image; and now consider what ye shall do.

И уклони́шася та́мо и внидо́ша въ до́мъ ю́ноши Леві́тина, въ до́мъ мі́хинъ, и вопроси́ша єго́ въ ми́рѣ.

And they turned aside there, and went into the house of the young man, the Levite, even into the house of Michaias, and asked him how he was.

И ше́сть со́тъ муже́й препоя́сани во ору́жіє ополче́нія своєго́, стоя́ще у две́рій вра́тныхъ, и́же от сыно́въ да́новыхъ.

And the six hundred men of the sons of Dan who were girded with their weapons of war stood by the door of the gate.

И взыдо́ша пя́ть муже́й ходи́вшихъ согля́дати зе́млю: и вше́дше та́мо взя́ша изва́яно, и Єфу́дъ и Ѳерафі́нъ, и слія́ноє: жре́цъ же стоя́ше у две́рій вра́тныхъ, и ше́сть со́тъ муже́й препоя́сани во ору́жіє во́инско:

And the five men who went to spy out the land went up, and entered into the house of Michaias, and the priest stood.

и сі́и внидо́ша въ до́мъ мі́хинъ и взя́ша Єфу́дъ и Ѳерафі́нъ, и слія́но и изва́яно. И рече́ къ ни́мъ жре́цъ: что́ вы́ творите́?

And they took the graven image, and the ephod, and the theraphin, and the molten image; and the priest said to them, What are ye doing?

И рѣ́ша єму́: умолчи́, положи́ ру́ку твою́ на уста́ твоя́ и пойди́ съ на́ми, и бу́ди на́мъ оте́цъ и жре́цъ: єда́ у́не є́сть тебѣ́ бы́ти жерцу́ єди́наго му́жа до́му, не́жели бы́ти жерцу́ пле́мени и до́му и со́нма Ізра́илева?

And they said to him, Be silent, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and come with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be the priest of the house of one man, or to be the priest of a tribe and house for a family of Israel?

И возблажа́ се́рдце жре́ческо, и взя́ Єфу́дъ и Ѳерафі́нъ, и изва́яноє и слія́ноє, и вни́де посредѣ́ люді́й.

And the heart of the priest was glad, and he took the ephod, and the theraphin, and the graven image, and the molten image, and went in the midst of the people.

И возврати́шася и отидо́ша, и пусти́ша предъ собо́ю ча́да и притяжа́ніє своє́ честно́є.

So they turned and departed, and put their children and their property and their baggage before them.

Удали́вшымся же и́мъ от до́му мі́хина, и се́, мі́ха и му́жіє и́же въ жили́щахъ, я́же съ до́момъ мі́хинымъ бы́ша, воззва́ша и постиго́ша сы́ны Да́новы,

They went some distance from the house of Michaias, and, behold, Michaias and the men in the houses near Michaias' house, cried out, and overtook the children of Dan.

и возопи́ша къ сыно́мъ Да́новымъ: и обрати́ша сы́нове Да́новы ли́ца своя́ и рѣ́ша къ мі́хѣ: что́ є́сть тебѣ́, я́ко воззва́лъ єси́?

And the children of Dan turned their face, and said to Michaias, What is the matter with thee that thou hast cried out?

И рече́ мі́ха: я́ко изва́яноє моє́, є́же сотвори́хъ, взя́сте, и жерца́, и поидо́сте: и что́ мнѣ́ єще́? и что́ сіє́ глаго́лете мнѣ́: что́ вопіє́ши?

And Michaias said, Because ye have taken my graven image which I made, and my priest, and are gone; and what have I remaining? and what is this that ye say to me, Why criest thou?

И реко́ша єму́ сы́нове Да́новы: да не услы́шится ны́нѣ гла́съ тво́й вслѣ́дъ на́съ, да не воста́нутъ на вы́ му́жіє лю́тою душе́ю, и положи́ши ду́шу твою́ и ду́шу до́му твоєго́.

And the children of Dan said to him, Let not thy voice be heard with us, lest angry men run upon thee, and take away thy life, and the lives of thy house.

И идо́ша сы́нове Да́новы въ пу́ть сво́й. И ви́дѣ мі́ха, я́ко си́льнѣйшіи су́ть па́че єго́, и возврати́ся въ до́мъ сво́й.

And the children of Dan went their way; and Michaias saw that they were stronger than himself, and he returned to his house.

И сы́нове Да́новы взя́ша, єли́ка сотвори́ мі́ха, и жерца́, и́же бя́ше у него́, и пріидо́ша въ лаі́съ, къ лю́демъ молча́щымъ и упова́ющымъ наде́ждею, и изби́ша и́хъ о́стріємъ меча́, и гра́дъ сожго́ша огне́мъ:

And the children of Dan took what Michaias had made, and the priest that he had, and they came to Laisa, to a people quiet and secure; and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and burnt the city with fire.

и не бя́ше избавля́яй, я́ко дале́че бя́ху от Сідо́нянъ, и словесе́ не бя́ше и́мъ съ человѣ́комъ: и се́й [гра́дъ бы́сть] во удо́ліи до́му роо́вля: и согради́ша гра́дъ и всели́шася въ не́мъ,

And there was no deliverer, because the city is far from the Sidonians, and they have no intercourse with men, and it is in the valley of the house of Raab; and they built the city, and dwelt in it.

и нареко́ша гра́ду и́мя да́нъ, во и́мя Да́на отца́ своєго́, и́же роди́ся Ізра́илю: и бя́ше пре́жде и́мя гра́ду лаі́съ.

And they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was born to Israel; and the name of the city was Ulamais before.

И поста́виша себѣ́ сы́нове Да́новы изва́яноє: Іонаѳа́нъ же сы́нъ Гирсо́нь сы́нъ Манассі́инъ, то́й и сы́нове єго́ бя́ху жерцы́ пле́мени да́нову до дне́ преселе́нія земли́:

And the children of Dan set up the graven image for themselves; and Jonathan son of Gerson son of Manasse, he and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan till the time of the carrying away of the nation.

и поста́виша себѣ́ изва́яноє, є́же сотвори́ мі́ха, во вся́ дни́, въ ня́же бя́ше до́мъ Бо́жій въ Сило́мѣ.

And they set up for themselves the graven image which Michaias made, all the days that the house of God was in Selom; and it was so in those days that there was no king in Israel.

И бы́сть въ ты́я дни́ не бя́ше царя́ во Ізра́или: и бы́сть му́жъ Леві́тинъ живы́й во странѣ́ горы́ Єфре́мовы, и поя́ себѣ́ жену́ подло́жницу от Виѳлеє́ма Іу́дина:

And there was a Levite sojourning in the sides of mount Ephraim, and he took to himself a concubine from Bethleem Juda.

и разгнѣ́вася на́нь подло́жница єго́, и отъи́де от него́ въ до́мъ отца́ своєго́ въ Виѳлеє́мъ Іу́динъ, и бѣ́ та́мо четы́ри ме́сяцы:

And his concubine departed from him, and went away from him to the house of her father to Bethleem Juda, and she was there four months.

и воста́ му́жъ єя́ и и́де вслѣ́дъ єя́ глаго́лати въ се́рдце єя́, обрати́ти ю́ къ себѣ́ и привести́ па́ки къ себѣ́: и о́трокъ єго́ съ ни́мъ, и дво́є осля́тъ: она́ же введе́ єго́ въ до́мъ отца́ своєго́:

And her husband rose up, and went after her to speak kindly to her, to recover her to himself; and he had his young man with him, and a pair of asses; and she brought him into the house of her father; and the father of the damsel saw him, and was well pleased to meet him.

и ви́дѣ єго́ оте́цъ отрокови́цы и изы́де съ весе́ліємъ во срѣ́теніє єго́, и удержа́ єго́ те́сть єго́ оте́цъ отрокови́цы, и пребы́сть съ ни́мъ три́ дни́, и ядо́ша и пи́ша, и спа́ша та́мо.

And his father-in-law, the father of the damsel, constrained him, and he staid with him for three days; and they ate and drank, and lodged there.

И бы́сть въ де́нь четве́ртый, и обу́трѣша зау́тра, и воста́ поити́. И рече́ оте́цъ отрокови́цы къ зя́тю своєму́: укрѣпи́ се́рдце твоє́ укру́хомъ хлѣ́ба, и по се́мъ по́йдете.

And it came to pass on the fourth day that they rose early, and he stood up to depart; and the father of the damsel said to his son-in-law, Strengthen thy heart with a morsel of bread, and afterwards ye shall go.

И сѣдо́ша, и ядо́ша о́ба вку́пѣ и пи́ша. И рече́ оте́цъ отрокови́цы къ му́жу: иди́ ны́нѣ и преспи́, и возблажа́єтъ се́рдце твоє́.

So they two sat down together and ate and drank: and the father of the damsel said to her husband, Tarry now the night, and let thy heart be merry.

И воста́ му́жъ поити́: и пону́ди єго́ те́сть єго́, и сѣ́де, и пребы́сть та́мо.

And the man rose up to depart; but his father-in-law constrained him, and he staid and lodged there.

И воста́ ра́но въ пя́тый де́нь да и́детъ. И рече́ оте́цъ отрокови́цы: укрѣпи́ у́бо се́рдце твоє́ хлѣ́бомъ, и пребу́ди до́ндеже преклони́тся де́нь. И ядо́ша и пи́ша о́ба.

And he rose early in the morning on the fifth day to depart; and the father of the damsel said, Strengthen now thine heart, and quit thyself as a soldier till the day decline; and the two ate.

И воста́ му́жъ да и́детъ са́мъ и подло́жница єго́ и о́трокъ єго́. И рече́ єму́ те́сть єго́ оте́цъ отрокови́цы: се́, уже́ преклони́ся де́нь къ ве́черу, пребу́ди здѣ́, и возблажа́єтъ се́рдце твоє́, и обу́трѣєте у́тро въ пу́ть ва́шъ, и отъи́деши въ селе́ніє своє́.

And the man rose up to depart, he and his concubine, and his young man; but his father-in-law the father of the damsel said to him, Behold now, the day has declined toward evening; lodge here, and let thy heart rejoice; and ye shall rise early to-morrow for your journey, and thou shalt go to thy habitation.

И не изво́ли му́жъ пребы́ти, и воста́ и отъи́де: и пріи́де да́же пря́мо Ієву́су, се́й є́сть Ієрусали́мъ, и съ ни́мъ дво́є осля́тъ съ бремены́, и подло́жница єго́ съ ни́мъ.

But the man would not lodge there, but he arose and departed, and came to the part opposite Jebus, (this is Jerusalem,) and there was with him a pair of asses saddled, and his concubine was with him.

И пріидо́ша до Ієву́са, и де́нь преклони́ся къ ве́черу зѣло́: и рече́ о́трокъ ко господи́ну своєму́: гряди́ у́бо, да уклони́мся во гра́дъ се́й Ієву́съ и пребу́демъ въ не́мъ.

And they came as far as Jebus: and the day had far advanced, and the young man said to his master, Come, I pray thee, and let us turn aside to this city of the Jebusites, and let us lodge in it.

И рече́ къ нему́ господи́нъ єго́: не уклони́мся во гра́дъ чу́ждь, въ не́мже нѣ́сть от сыно́въ Ізра́илевыхъ, но пре́йдемъ до гавао́на.

And his master said to him, We will not turn aside to a strange city, where there is not one of the children of Israel, but we will pass on as far as Gabaa.

И рече́ ко о́троку своєму́: гряди́, да присту́пимъ ко єди́ному от мѣ́стъ гавао́нскихъ и пребу́демъ въ гавао́нѣ или́ въ ра́мѣ.

And he said to his young man, Come, and let us draw nigh to one of the places, and we will lodge in Gabaa or in Rama.

И мину́ша, и идо́ша, и за́йде и́мъ со́лнце бли́зъ гавао́на, и́же є́сть Веніамі́нь:

And they passed by and went on, and the sun went down upon them near to Gabaa, which is in Benjamin.

и уклони́шася та́мо вни́ти превита́ти въ гавао́нѣ, и внидо́ша и сѣдо́ша на сто́гнахъ гра́да: и не бѣ́ му́жъ вводя́й и́хъ въ до́мъ превита́ти.

And they turned aside thence to go in to lodge in Gabaa; and they went in, and sat down in the street of the city, and there was no one who conducted them into a house to lodge.

И се́, му́жъ ста́ръ идя́ше съ дѣ́ла своєго́ изъ по́ля въ ве́черъ, и се́й му́жъ от горы́ Єфре́мли, и то́й обита́ше въ гавао́нѣ: и му́жіє мѣ́ста сы́нове Веніамі́ни.

And behold, an old man came out of the field from his work in the evening; and the man was of mount Ephraim, and he sojourned in Gabaa, and the men of the place were sons of Benjamin.

И возве́дъ о́чи свои́, ви́дѣ му́жа пу́тника на сто́гнахъ гра́дныхъ, и рече́ му́жъ ста́рецъ: ка́мо и́деши и отку́ду гряде́ши?

And he lifted up his eyes, and saw a traveller in the street of the city; and the old man said to him, Whither goest thou, and whence comest thou?

И рече́ къ нему́: гряде́мъ мы́ от Виѳлеє́ма Іу́дина да́же до стра́нъ горы́ Єфре́мли, отону́дуже а́зъ є́смь: и ходи́хъ до Виѳлеє́ма Іу́дина, и иду́ а́зъ въ до́мъ мо́й: и нѣ́сть му́жа вводя́щаго мя́ въ до́мъ:

And he said to him, We are passing by from Bethleem Juda to the sides of mount Ephraim: I am from thence, and I went as far as Bethleem Juda, and I am going home, and there is no man to take me into his house.

а пле́вы и пи́ща осля́томъ на́шымъ є́сть, и мнѣ́ хлѣ́бъ и віно́ є́сть, и отрокови́цѣ и о́троку: рабо́мъ твои́мъ нѣ́сть ску́дно ни коєя́ ве́щи.

Yet is there straw and food for our asses, and bread and wine for me and my handmaid and the young man with thy servants; there is no want of anything.

И рече́ му́жъ ста́ръ: ми́ръ тебѣ́: и ве́сь недоста́токъ тво́й на мнѣ́, оба́че на сто́гнахъ не ля́зи.

And the old man said, Peace be to thee; only be every want of thine upon me, only do thou by no means lodge in the street.

И введе́ єго́ въ до́мъ сво́й, и даде́ мѣ́сто осля́томъ єго́: и омы́ша но́ги своя́, и ядо́ша и пи́ша.

And he brought him into his house, and made room for his asses; and they washed their feet, and ate and drank.

Єгда́ же возвесели́ся се́рдце и́хъ, и се́, му́жіє гра́дстіи сы́нове беззако́нниковъ обыдо́ша до́мъ бію́ще въ две́ри, и рѣ́ша му́жу господи́ну до́му ста́рцу, глаго́люще: изведи́ му́жа и́же вни́де въ до́мъ тво́й, да позна́ємъ єго́.

And they were comforting their heart, when, behold, the men of the city, sons of transgressors, compassed the house, knocking at the door: and they spoke to the old man the owner of the house, saying, Bring out the man who came into thy house, that we may know him.

И изы́де къ ни́мъ му́жъ господи́нъ до́му и рече́: ни́, бра́тія, не сотвори́те зла́ му́жу сему́ повнегда́ вни́ти єму́ въ до́мъ мо́й, и не сотвори́те безу́мія сего́:

And the master of the house came out to them, and said, Nay, brethren, do not ye wrong, I pray you, after this man has come into my house; do not ye this folly.

се́, дще́рь моя́ дѣ́ва, и подло́жница єго́: изведу́ и́хъ, и смири́те и́хъ, и сотвори́те и́мъ є́же бла́го предъ очи́ма ва́шима: а му́жу сему́ не сотвори́те словесе́ безу́мія сего́.

Behold my daughter a virgin, and the man's concubine: I will bring them out, and humble ye them, and do to them that which is good in your eyes; but to this man do not this folly.

И не изво́лиша му́жіє послу́шати єго́. И взя́ му́жъ подло́жницу єго́ и изведе́ ю́ къ ни́мъ во́нъ: и позна́ша ю́ и руга́шася надъ не́ю всю́ но́щь да́же до у́тра, и отпусти́ша ю́, єгда́ взы́де денни́ца.

But the men would not consent to hearken to him; so the man laid hold of his concubine, and brought her out to them; and they knew her, and abused her all night till the morning, and let her go when the morning dawned.

И пріи́де жена́ къ зау́трію, и паде́ у две́рій до́му, идѣ́же бя́ше му́жъ єя́, до разсвѣта́нія.

And the woman came toward morning, and fell down at the door of the house where her husband was, until it was light.

И воста́ му́жъ єя́ зау́тра, и отве́рзе две́ри до́му и изы́де поити́ въ пу́ть сво́й: и се́, жена́ єго́ подло́жница лежа́ше при две́рехъ до́му, и ру́цѣ єя́ на преддве́ріи.

And her husband rose up in the morning, and opened the doors of the house, and went forth to go on his journey; and, behold, the woman his concubine had fallen down by the doors of the house, and her hands were on the threshold.

И рече́ къ не́й: воста́ни, да и́демъ. И не отвѣща́ єму́, бя́ше бо мертва́. И возложи́ ю́ на осля́, и воста́ му́жъ и по́йде на мѣ́сто своє́.

And he said to her, Rise, and let us go; and she answered not, for she was dead: and he took her upon his ass, and went to his place.

И пріи́де въ до́мъ сво́й, и взя́ но́жъ, и взя́ подло́жницу свою́, и раздроби́ ю́ по удесе́мъ єя́ на двана́десять часте́й, и посла́ я́ во вся́ племена́ Ізра́илева.

And he took his sword, and laid hold of his concubine, and divided her into twelve parts, and sent them to every coast of Israel.

И бы́сть вся́къ ви́дящій глаго́лаше: не бы́сть, ни ви́дѣно бѣ́ си́це от дне́ изше́ствія сыно́въ Ізра́илевыхъ от земли́ Єги́петскія да́же до дне́ сего́. И заповѣ́да муже́мъ, и́хже посла́, глаго́ля: си́це глаго́лите ко всему́ Ізра́илю: а́ще бы́сть по словеси́ сему́? уста́вите са́ми себѣ́ о не́й совѣ́тъ и глаго́лите.

And it was so, that every one who saw it said, Such a day as this has not happened nor has been seen from the day of the going up of the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt until this day: take ye counsel concerning it, and speak.

И изыдо́ша вси́ сы́нове Ізра́илевы, и собра́шася ве́сь со́нмъ я́ко єди́нъ му́жъ, от Да́на и до вирсаві́и, и земля́ Галаа́дска къ Го́сподеви въ Массифу́,

And all the children of Israel went out, and all the congregation was gathered as one man, from Dan even to Bersabee, and in the land of Galaad, to the Lord at Massepha.

и ста́ша предъ лице́мъ Госпо́днимъ вся́ племена́ Ізра́илева въ со́нмѣ люді́й Бо́жіихъ, четы́реста ты́сящъ муже́й пѣ́шихъ воздвиза́ющихъ ору́жія.

And all the tribes of Israel stood before the Lord in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand footmen that drew sword.

И услы́шаша сы́нове Веніамі́ни, я́ко взыдо́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы въ Массифу́, и реко́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы: глаго́лите, гдѣ́ бы́сть зло́ба сія́?

And the children of Benjamin heard that the children of Israel were gone up to Massepha: and the children of Israel came and said, Tell us, where did this wickedness take place?

И отвѣща́ му́жъ Леві́тинъ, му́жъ жены́ уморе́ныя, глаго́ля: въ гавао́нъ Веніамі́нь пріидо́хъ а́зъ и подло́жница моя́ вита́ти:

And the Levite, the husband of the woman that was slain, answered and said, I and my concubine went to Gabaa of Benjamin to lodge.

и воста́ша на мя́ му́жіє гавао́нстіи и обыдо́ша мя́ во дворѣ́ но́щію, и хотѣ́ша мя́ уби́ти, и подло́жницу мою́ оби́дѣша и обруга́ша, и у́мре:

And the men of Gabaa rose up against me, and compassed the house by night against me; they wished to slay me, and they have humbled my concubine, and she is dead.

и взя́хъ подло́жницу мою́ и раздроби́хъ ю́, и посла́хъ ю́ во вся́ предѣ́лы наслѣ́дія Ізра́илева, я́ко сотвори́ша безу́міє во Ізра́или:

And I laid hold of my concubine, and divided her in pieces, and sent the parts into every coast of the inheritance of the children of Israel; for they have wrought lewdness and abomination in Israel.

се́, вси́ вы́ сы́нове Ізра́илевы, дади́те себѣ́ сло́во и совѣ́тъ здѣ́.

Behold, all ye are children of Israel; and consider and take counsel here among yourselves.

И воста́ша вси́ лю́діє я́ко єди́нъ му́жъ, глаго́люще: не отъи́детъ му́жъ въ селе́ніє своє́, и не возврати́тся му́жъ въ до́мъ сво́й:

And all the people rose up as one man, saying, No one of us shall return to his tent, and no one of us shall return to his house.

и ны́нѣ сло́во сіє́, є́же сотвори́мъ гавао́ну: взы́демъ на него́ по жре́бію,

And now this is the thing which shall be done in Gabaa; we will go up against it by lot.

то́кмо во́змемъ по десяти́ муже́й от ста́ во всѣ́хъ племенѣ́хъ Ізра́илевыхъ, и сто́ от ты́сящи, и ты́сяща от тмы́, взя́ти бра́шно лю́демъ исходя́щымъ въ гаваю́ Веніамі́ню, сотвори́ти єму́ по всему́ согрѣше́нію, є́же сотвори́ во Ізра́или.

Moreover we will take ten men for a hundred for all the tribes of Israel, and a hundred for a thousand, and a thousand for ten thousand, to take provision, to cause them to come to Gabaa of Benjamin, to do to it according to all the abomination, which they wrought in Israel.

И собра́шася вси́ му́жіє Ізра́илевы ко гра́ду, я́ко єди́нъ му́жъ изъ градо́въ исходя́ще,

And all the men of Israel were gathered to the city as one man.

и посла́ша племена́ Ізра́илева муже́й во все́ пле́мя Веніамі́не, глаго́люще: ка́я зло́ба сія́ бы́вшая въ ва́съ?

And the tribes of Israel sent men through the whole tribe of Benjamin, saying, What is this wickedness that has been wrought among you?

и ны́нѣ дади́те муже́й беззако́нныхъ, и́же въ гаваи́, сыно́въ веліа́ловыхъ, и умертви́мъ и́хъ, и очи́стимъ зло́ от Ізра́иля. И не изво́лиша сы́нове Веніамі́ни послу́шати гла́са бра́тіи своєя́ сыно́въ Ізра́илевыхъ.

Now then give up the men the sons of transgressors that are in Gabaa, and we will put them to death, and purge out wickedness from Israel: but the children of Benjamin consented not to hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel.

И собра́шася сы́нове Веніамі́ни от градо́въ свои́хъ въ гаваю́, изы́ти на бра́нь къ сыно́мъ Ізра́илевымъ.

And the children of Benjamin were gathered from their cities to Gabaa, to go forth to fight with the children of Israel.

И сочто́шася сы́нове Веніамі́ни от градо́въ въ то́й де́нь два́десять и пя́ть ты́сящъ муже́й воздвиза́ющихъ ору́жія, кромѣ́ живу́щихъ въ гаваи́:

And the children of Benjamin from their cities were numbered in that day, twenty-three thousand, every man drawing a sword, besides the inhabitants of Gabaa, who were numbered seven hundred chosen men of all the people, able to use both hands alike;

и́хже сочте́ся се́дмь со́тъ муже́й избра́нныхъ от всѣ́хъ люді́й ободеснору́чныхъ: сі́и вси́ пра́щницы ме́щуще ка́меніє ко вла́су и не погрѣша́юще.

all these could sling with stones at a hair, and not miss.

И всѣ́хъ муже́й Ізра́илевыхъ сочте́ся, кромѣ́ сыно́въ Веніамі́новыхъ, четы́реста ты́сящъ муже́й воздвиза́ющихъ ору́жіє: вси́ сі́и му́жіє во́ини.

And the men of Israel, exclusive of Benjamin, were numbered four hundred thousand men that drew sword; all these were men of war.

И воста́ша, и взыдо́ша въ Веѳи́ль, и вопроси́ша Бо́га, и реко́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы: кто́ от на́съ взы́детъ въ нача́лѣ воєва́ти на сы́ны Веніамі́ни? И рече́ Госпо́дь: Іу́да въ нача́лѣ да взы́детъ во́ждь.

And they arose and went up to Bæthel, and enquired of God: and the children of Israel said, Who shall go up for us first to fight with the children of Benjamin? And the Lord said, Juda shall go up first as leader.

И воста́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы зау́тра и ополчи́шася на гаваю́.

And the children of Israel rose up in the morning, and encamped against Gabaa.

И изы́де вся́къ му́жъ Ізра́илевъ на бра́нь съ Веніамі́номъ, и срази́шася съ ни́ми му́жіє Ізра́илевы на бра́ни у гаваи́.

And they went out, all the men of Israel, to fight with Benjamin, and engaged with them at Gabaa.

И изыдо́ша сы́нове Веніамі́новы изъ гаваи́, и изби́ша во Ізра́или въ то́й де́нь два́десять двѣ́ ты́сящы муже́й на земли́.

And the sons of Benjamin went forth from Gabaa, and they destroyed in Israel on that day two and twenty thousand men down to the ground.

И укрѣпи́ся вся́къ му́жъ Ізра́илевъ, и приложи́ша сни́тися на бра́нь на мѣ́сто, идѣ́же снидо́шася въ де́нь пе́рвый.

And the men of Israel strengthened themselves, and again engaged in battle in the place where they had engaged on the first day.

И взыдо́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы и пла́кашася предъ Го́сподемъ до ве́чера, и вопроси́ша Го́спода, глаго́люще: а́ще приложи́мъ єще́ приступи́ти на бра́нь къ сыно́мъ Веніамі́нимъ бра́тіямъ на́шымъ? И рече́ Госпо́дь: взы́дите къ ни́мъ.

And the children of Israel went up, and wept before the Lord till evening, and enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall we again draw nigh to battle with our brethren the children of Benjamin? and the Lord said, Go up against them.

И пріидо́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы къ сыно́мъ Веніамі́нимъ въ де́нь вторы́й.

And the children of Israel advanced against the children of Benjamin on the second day.

И изыдо́ша сы́нове Веніамі́ни проти́ву и́мъ от гаваи́ въ де́нь вторы́й, и изби́ша єще́ от сыно́въ Ізра́илевыхъ осмьна́десять ты́сящъ муже́й на земли́: сі́и вси́ воздвиза́ющіи ору́жіє.

And the children of Benjamin went forth to meet them from Gabaa on the second day, and destroyed of the children of Israel yet further eighteen thousand men down to the ground: all these drew sword.

И взыдо́ша вси́ сы́нове Ізра́илевы и вси́ лю́діє, и пріидо́ша въ Веѳи́ль, и пла́кашася, и сѣдо́ша та́мо предъ Го́сподемъ, и пости́шася въ то́й де́нь да́же до ве́чера:

And the children of Israel and all the people went up, and came to Bæthel; and they wept, and sat there before the Lord; and they fasted on that day until evening, and offered whole-burnt-offerings and perfect sacrifices, before the Lord,

и вознесо́ша всесожже́ніє спасе́нія предъ Го́сподемъ, я́ко та́мо ківо́тъ завѣ́та Го́спода Бо́га во дни́ о́ны,

for the ark of the Lord God was there in those days,

и Фінеє́съ сы́нъ Єлеаза́ра сы́на Ааро́ня предстоя́ предъ ни́мъ въ ты́я дни́. И вопроси́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы Го́спода, глаго́люще: а́ще приложи́мъ взы́ти єще́ на бра́нь къ сыно́мъ Веніамі́нимъ бра́тіямъ на́шымъ, или́ оста́вимъ? И рече́ Госпо́дь: взы́дите, зау́тра преда́мъ и́хъ въ ру́ки ва́шя.

and Phinees the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron stood before it in those days; and the children of Israel enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall we yet again go forth to fight with our brethren the sons of Benjamin? and the Lord said, Go up, to-morrow I will give them into your hands.

И поста́виша сы́нове Ізра́илевы подса́ду о́крестъ гаваи́.

And the children of Israel set an ambush against Gabaa round about it.

И взыдо́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы къ сыно́мъ Веніамі́нимъ въ де́нь тре́тій: и ополчи́шася на гаваю́ я́ко єди́ною и єди́ною.

And the children of Israel went up against the children of Benjamin on the third day, and arrayed themselves against Gabaa as before.

И изыдо́ша сы́нове Веніамі́ни проти́ву лю́демъ и протяго́шася изъ гра́да, и нача́ша убива́ти люді́й уя́звленыхъ, я́коже пе́рвоє и второ́є на путе́хъ, от ни́хже є́сть єди́нъ сходя́й въ Веѳи́ль, а другі́й въ гаваю́ на селѣ́, я́ко три́десять муже́й во Ізра́или.

And the children of Benjamin went out to meet the people, and were all drawn out of the city, and began to smite and slay the people as before in the roads, whereof one goes up to Bæthel, and one to Gabaa in the field, about thirty men of Israel.

И реко́ша сы́нове Веніамі́ни: па́даютъ предъ на́ми я́коже и пре́жде. И сы́нове Ізра́илевы реко́ша: побѣжи́мъ и отто́ргнемъ и́хъ от гра́да на пути́. И сотвори́ша та́ко.

And the children of Benjamin said, They fall before us as at the first: but the children of Israel said, Let us flee, and draw them out from the city into the roads; and they did so.

И вси́ му́жіє Ізра́илевы воста́ша от мѣ́ста своєго́ и снидо́шася въ Ваа́лъ-ѳама́рѣ: подса́да же Ізра́илева нахожда́ше от мѣ́ста своєго́ от за́пада гаваи́.

And all the men rose up out of their places, and engaged in Baal Thamar; and the liers in wait of Israel advanced from their place from Maraagabe.

И пріидо́ша проти́ву гаваи́ де́сять ты́сящъ муже́й избра́нныхъ от всего́ Ізра́иля, и бра́нь бя́ше тяжка́: и ті́и не разумѣ́ша, я́ко постиза́єтъ и́хъ зло́.

And there came over against Gabaa ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel; and the fight was severe; and they knew not that evil was coming upon them.

И порази́ Госпо́дь Веніамі́на предъ сы́ны Ізра́илевыми: и изби́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы от Веніамі́на въ то́й де́нь два́десять пя́ть ты́сящъ и сто́ муже́й: сі́и вси́ воздвиза́ху ору́жіє.

And the Lord smote Benjamin before the children of Israel; and the children of Israel destroyed of Benjamin in that day a hundred and twenty-five thousand men: all these drew sword.

И ви́дѣша сы́нове Веніамі́ни, я́ко пораже́ни су́ть. И да́ша мѣ́сто сы́нове Ізра́илевы Веніамі́ну, поне́же упова́ша на подса́ду, ю́же подсади́ша у гаваи́:

And the children of Benjamin saw that they were smitten; and the men of Israel gave place to Benjamin, because they trusted in the ambuscade which they had prepared against Gabaa.

и подви́жеся подса́да, и устреми́ся на гаваю́, и изби́ша ве́сь гра́дъ о́стріємъ меча́.

And when they retreated, then the liers in wait rose up, and they moved on toward Gabaa, and the whole ambush came forth, and they smote the city with the edge of the sword.

И Ізра́илтяне имя́ху зна́меніє съ подса́дою бра́ни, яви́ти зна́меніє ды́ма изъ гра́да.

And the children of Israel had a signal of battle with the liers in wait, that they should send up a signal of smoke from the city.

И возврати́ся Ізра́иль на бра́нь, и Веніамі́нъ нача́ убива́ти я́звеныхъ во Ізра́или до три́десяти муже́й, я́ко реко́ша: па́ки паде́ніємъ па́даютъ предъ на́ми, я́коже и пе́рвая бра́нь.

And the children of Israel saw that the liers in wait had seized Gabaa, and they stood in line of battle; and Benjamin began to smite down wounded ones among the men of Israel about thirty men; for they said, Surely they fall again before us, as in the first battle.

И зна́меніє взы́де наипа́че надъ гра́домъ, а́ки сто́лпъ ды́ма: и озрѣ́ся Веніамі́нъ вспя́ть, и се́, взы́де сконча́ніє гра́да до небеси́.

And the signal went up increasingly over the city as a pillar of smoke; and Benjamin looked behind him, and behold the destruction of the city went up to heaven.

И му́жъ Ізра́илевъ возврати́ся: и потща́шася му́жіє Веніамі́ни, ви́дѣша бо, я́ко пости́же и́хъ зло́,

And the men of Israel turned back, and the men of Benjamin hasted, because they saw that evil had come upon them.

и побѣго́ша предъ сы́ны Ізра́илевыми на пу́ть пусты́ни, бра́нь же пости́же и́хъ, и и́же изъ градо́въ избива́ша и́хъ средѣ́ себе́:

And they turned to the way of the wilderness from before the children of Israel, and fled: but the battle overtook them, and they from the cities destroyed them in the midst of them.

и побива́ху Веніамі́на, и гна́ша єго́ от нуа́ вслѣ́дъ єго́ до гаваи́ безъ опочива́нія, и порази́ша єго́ да́же проти́ву гаваи́ на восто́къ со́лнца.

And they cut down Benjamin, and pursued him from Nua closely till they came opposite Gabaa on the east.

И падо́ша от Веніамі́на осмьна́десять ты́сящъ муже́й, сі́и вси́ му́жіє си́льніи.

And there fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men: all these were men of might.

И озрѣ́шася оста́вшіи, и побѣго́ша въ пусты́ню къ ка́меню реммо́ню: и пожа́ша от ни́хъ сы́нове Ізра́илевы по стезя́мъ я́ко сте́бліє пя́ть ты́сящъ муже́й, и гна́ша вслѣ́дъ и́хъ до гадаа́ма и изби́ша от ни́хъ двѣ́ ты́сящы муже́й.

And the rest turned, and fled to the wilderness to the rock of Remmon; and the children of Israel picked off of them five thousand men; and the children of Israel went down after them as far as Gedan, and they smote of them two thousand men.

И бы́сть всѣ́хъ па́дшихъ от Веніамі́на въ то́й де́нь два́десять пя́ть ты́сящъ муже́й воздвиза́ющихъ ору́жіє, вси́ сі́и му́жіє си́льніи.

And all that fell of Benjamin were twenty-five thousand men that drew sword in that day: all these were men of might.

И озрѣ́шася оста́вшіи, и вбѣго́ша въ пусты́ню къ ка́меню реммо́ню ше́сть со́тъ муже́й, и сѣдѣ́ша въ ка́мени реммо́ни четы́ри ме́сяцы.

And the rest turned, and fled to the wilderness to the rock of Remmon, even six hundred men; and they sojourned four months in the rock of Remmon.

Сы́нове же Ізра́илевы возврати́шася къ сыно́мъ Веніамі́нимъ, и изби́ша я́ ору́жіємъ от гра́да внѣ́, да́же и до скота́, и все́ є́же обрѣ́теся во всѣ́хъ градѣ́хъ, и гра́ды вся́ обрѣ́тшыяся пожго́ша огне́мъ.

And the children of Israel returned to the children of Benjamin, and smote them with the edge of the sword from the city of Methla, even to the cattle, and every thing that was found in all the cities: and they burnt with fire the cities they found.

И сы́нове Ізра́илевы кля́шася въ Массифѣ́, глаго́люще: му́жъ от на́съ да не да́стъ Веніамі́ну дще́ре своєя́ въ жену́.

Now the children of Israel swore in Massephath, saying, No man of us shall give his daughter to Benjamin for a wife.

И пріидо́ша лю́діє въ Веѳи́ль и сѣдѣ́ша та́мо до ве́чера предъ Бо́гомъ: и воздвиго́ша гла́съ сво́й, и пла́кашася пла́чемъ ве́ліимъ, и реко́ша:

And the people came to Bæthel, and sat there until evening before God: and they lifted up their voice and wept with a great weeping;

вску́ю, Го́споди Бо́же Ізра́илевъ, бы́сть си́це дне́сь во Ізра́или, є́же оскудѣ́ти от Ізра́иля пле́мени єди́ному?

and said, Wherefore, O Lord God of Israel, has this come to pass, that to-day one tribe should be counted as missing from Israel?

И бы́сть на у́трія, и обу́трѣша лю́діє, и согради́ша та́мо олта́рь, и вознесо́ша всесожже́ніє спасе́нія, и реко́ша сы́нове Ізра́илевы:

And it came to pass on the morrow that the people rose up early, and built there an altar, and offered up whole-burnt-offerings and peace-offerings.

кто́ не взы́де въ со́нмъ от всѣ́хъ племе́нъ Ізра́илевыхъ ко Го́споду? Я́ко вели́ка кля́тва бя́ше не вше́дшымъ ко Го́споду въ Массифу́, глаго́люще: сме́ртію да у́мретъ.

And the children of Israel said, Who of all the tribes of Israel, went not up in the congregation to the Lord? for there was a great oath concerning those who went not up to the Lord to Massephath, saying, He shall surely be put to death.

И умили́шася сы́нове Ізра́илевы о Веніамі́нѣ бра́тѣ своє́мъ, и реко́ша: изсѣ́чено дне́сь єди́но пле́мя от Ізра́иля:

And the children of Israel relented toward Benjamin their brother, and said, To-day one tribe is cut off from Israel.

что́ сотвори́мъ оста́вшымся о жена́хъ? и мы́ кля́хомся Го́сподемъ не да́ти и́мъ от дще́рей на́шихъ въ жены́.

What shall we do for wives for the rest that remain? whereas we have sworn by the Lord, not to give them of our daughters for wives.

И реко́ша: кто́ єди́нъ от племе́нъ Ізра́илевыхъ, и́же не взы́де ко Го́споду въ Массифу́? И се́, ни єди́нъ пріи́де въ по́лкъ от Іаві́са Галаа́дова въ со́нмъ.

And they said, What one man is there of the tribes of Israel, who went not up to the Lord to Massephath? and, behold, no man came to the camp from Jabis Galaad to the assembly.

И согля́даша люді́й, и се́, не бя́ше та́мо му́жа от живу́щихъ во Іаві́сѣ Галаа́довѣ.

And the people were numbered, and there was not there a man from the inhabitants of Jabis Galaad.

И посла́ша та́мо со́нмъ двана́десять ты́сящъ муже́й от сыно́въ си́лы и заповѣ́даша и́мъ, глаго́люще: иди́те и избі́йте живу́щыя во Іаві́сѣ Галаа́довѣ ору́жіємъ жены́ и наро́ды:

And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the strongest, and they charged them, saying, Go ye and smite the inhabitants of Jabis Galaad with the edge of the sword.

и сіє́ сотвори́те: вся́къ му́жескій по́лъ и вся́ку жену́, позна́вшую ло́же му́жеско, побіє́те: дѣви́цы же снабди́те. И сотвори́ша та́ко.

And this shall ye do: every male and every woman that has known the lying with man ye shall devote to destruction, but the virgins ye shall save alive: and they did so.

И обрѣто́ша от живу́щихъ во Іаві́сѣ Галаа́довѣ четы́ре ста́ отрокови́цъ дѣ́въ, я́же не позна́ша ло́жа му́жеска: и приведо́ша я́ въ по́лкъ въ Сило́мъ, и́же є́сть въ земли́ Ханаа́ни.

And they found among the inhabitants of Jabis Galaad four hundred young virgins, who had not known man by lying with him; and they brought them to Selom in the land of Chanaan.

И посла́ша ве́сь со́нмъ и глаго́лаша къ сыно́мъ Веніамі́новымъ, и́же въ ка́мени реммо́ни, и призва́ша и́хъ съ ми́ромъ.

And all the congregation sent and spoke to the children of Benjamin in the rock Remmon, and invited them to make peace.

И возврати́ся Веніамі́нъ къ сыно́мъ Ізра́илевымъ въ то́ вре́мя, и да́ша и́мъ сы́нове Ізра́илевы жены́, я́же жи́во сохрани́ша от дще́рей Іаві́са Галаа́дова: и уго́дно бы́сть и́мъ та́ко.

And Benjamin returned to the children of Israel at that time, and the children of Israel gave them the women whom they had saved alive of the daughters of Jabis Galaad; and they were content.

И лю́діє умили́шася о Веніамі́нѣ, я́ко сотвори́ Госпо́дь истребле́ніє въ племенѣ́хъ Ізра́илевыхъ.

And the people relented for Benjamin, because the Lord had made a breach in the tribes of Israel.

И реко́ша старѣ́йшины со́нма: что́ сотвори́мъ оста́вшымъ о жена́хъ? я́ко поги́бе от Веніамі́на жена́:

And the elders of the congregation said, What shall we do for wives for them that remain? for the women have been destroyed out of Benjamin.

и ка́ко бу́детъ наслѣ́діє уцѣлѣ́вшихъ от Веніамі́на, да не поги́бнетъ пле́мя от Ізра́иля?

And they said, There must be an inheritance of them that are escaped of Benjamin; and so a tribe shall not be destroyed out of Israel.

и мы́ не возмо́жемъ да́ти и́мъ же́нъ от дще́рей на́шихъ, я́ко кля́шася сы́нове Ізра́илевы, глаго́люще: про́клятъ дая́й жену́ Веніамі́ну.

For we shall not be able to give them wives of our daughters, because we swore among the children of Israel, saying, Cursed is he that gives a wife to Benjamin.

И реко́ша: се́, пра́здникъ Госпо́день въ Сило́мѣ от дні́й во дни́, и́же є́сть от сѣ́вера Веѳи́ля, на восто́къ со́лнца на пути́ восходя́щемъ от Веѳи́ля въ Сихе́мъ, и от ю́га лево́ны.

And they said, Lo! now there is a feast of the Lord from year to year in Selom, which is on the north of Bæthel, eastward on the way that goes up from Bæthel to Sychem, and from the south of Lebona.

И заповѣ́даша сыно́мъ Веніамі́нимъ, глаго́люще: иди́те и зася́дите въ віногра́дѣхъ,

And they charged the children of Benjamin, saying, Go and lie in wait in the vineyards;

и у́зрите, и се́, єгда́ изы́дутъ дще́ри живу́щихъ въ Сило́мѣ пляса́ти въ ли́ки, да изы́дете изъ віногра́довъ и восхи́тите му́жъ жену́ себѣ́ от дще́рей Сило́млихъ, и иди́те на зе́млю Веніамі́ню:

and ye shall see; and lo! if there come out the daughters of the inhabitants of Selom to dance in dances, then shall ye go out of the vineyards and seize for yourselves every man a wife of the daughters of Selom, and go ye into the land of Benjamin.

и бу́детъ єгда́ пріи́дутъ отцы́ и́хъ или́ бра́тія и́хъ суди́тися къ на́мъ, и рече́мъ и́мъ: поми́луйте на́съ и́ми, я́ко не взя́ му́жъ жены́ своєя́ въ полцѣ́: поне́же вы́ не да́ли єсте́ и́мъ я́ко жре́бій, согрѣши́сте.

And it shall come to pass, when their fathers or their brethren come to dispute with us, that we will say to them, Grant them freely to us, for we have not taken every man his wife in the battle: because ye did not give to them according to the occasion, ye transgressed.

И сотвори́ша та́ко сы́нове Веніамі́ни, и поя́ша жены́ по числу́ своєму́ от пля́шущихъ, я́же восхи́тиша: и отидо́ша и возврати́шася въ наслѣ́діє своє́, и созда́ша гра́ды и всели́шася въ ни́хъ.

And the children of Benjamin did so; and they took wives according to their number from the dancers whom they seized: and they went and returned to their inheritance, and built the cities, and dwelt in them.

И отидо́ша отту́ду сы́нове Ізра́илевы въ то́ вре́мя, му́жъ во пле́мя своє́ и въ ро́дъ сво́й: и изы́де отту́ду му́жъ въ наслѣ́діє своє́.

And the children of Israel went thence at that time every man to his tribe and his kindred; and they went thence every man to his inheritance.

И въ ты́я дни́ не бя́ше царя́ во Ізра́или: му́жъ є́же уго́дно предъ очи́ма єго́, творя́ше. Коне́цъ кни́зѣ суді́й Исра́илевыхъ: и́мать въ себѣ́ гла́въ 22.

And in those days there was no king in Israel; every man did that which was right in his own sight.
