| Челові́к ні́кий бя́ше во страні́ Авсітіді́йстій, єму́же і́м'я І́ов, і бі челові́к он і́стинен, непоро́чен, пра́веден, богочести́в, удаля́яся от вся́кия лука́вия ве́щі. | There was a certain man in the land of Ausis, whose name was Job; and that man was true, blameless, righteous, and godly, abstaining from everything evil. |

| Би́ша же єму́ си́нове седьм і дще́рі три. | And he had seven sons and three daughters. |

| І бя́ху ско́ти єго́, ове́ць седьм ти́сящ, велблю́дов три ти́сящі, супру́г воло́в п'ять сот, і осли́ць пасо́мих п'ять сот, і слуг мно́го зіло́, і діла́ ве́лія бя́ху єму́ на землі́; і бі челові́к о́ний благоро́днійшій су́щих от восто́к со́лнця. | And his cattle consisted of seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred she-asses in the pastures, and a very great household, and he had a great husbandry on the earth; and that man was most noble of the men of the east. |

| Сходя́щеся же си́нове єго́ друг ко дру́гу, творя́ху пир на ки́йждо день, споє́млюще вку́пі і три сестри́ своя́, я́сти і пи́ти с ни́ми. | And his sons visiting one another prepared a banquet every day, taking with them also their three sisters to eat and drink with them. |

| І єгда́ скончава́шеся дні́є пи́ра, посила́ше І́ов і очища́ше їх, востая́ зау́тра, і приноша́ше о них же́ртви по числу́ їх, і тельця́ єди́наго о грісі́ о душа́х їх. Глаго́лаше бо І́ов: не́гли когда́ си́нове мої́ согріши́ша і в ми́слі своє́й зла́я поми́слиша проти́ву Бо́га? Та́ко у́бо творя́ше І́ов вся дні. | And when the days of the banquet were completed, Job sent and purified them, having risen up in the morning, and offered sacrifices for them, according to their number, and one calf for a sin-offering for their souls: for Job said, Lest peradventure my sons have thought evil in their minds against God. Thus then Job did continually. |

| І бисть я́ко день сей, і се, прийдо́ша а́нгели Бо́жії предста́ти пред Го́сподем, і дия́вол при́йде с ни́ми. | And it came to pass on a day, that, behold, the angels of God came to stand before the Lord, and the devil came with them. |

|
| І рече́ Госпо́дь дия́волу: отку́ду прише́л єси́? І отвіща́в дия́вол Го́сподеві, рече́: обше́д зе́млю і проше́д поднебе́сную, се, єсьм. | And the Lord said to the devil, Whence art thou come? And the devil answered the Lord, and said, I am come from compassing the earth, and walking up and down in the world. |

| І рече́ єму́ Госпо́дь: внял ли єси́ ми́слію твоє́ю на раба́ Моєго́ І́ова? Зане́ ність я́ко он на землі́: челові́к непоро́чен, і́стинен, богочести́в, удаля́яся от вся́кия лука́вия ве́щі. | And the Lord said to him, Hast thou diligently considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a man blameless, true, godly, abstaining from everything evil? |

| Отвіща́ же дия́вол і рече́ пред Го́сподем: | Then the devil answered, and said before the Lord, Does Job worship the Lord for nothing? |

| єда́ ту́не І́ов чтить Го́спода? Не Ти ли огради́л єси́ вні́шняя єго́ і вну́тренняя до́му єго́, і я́же вні всіх су́щих єго́ о́крест? Діла́ же руку́ єго́ благослови́л єси́ і скоти́ єго́ мно́гі сотвори́л єси́ на землі́; | Hast thou not made a hedge about him, and about his household, and all his possessions round about? and hast thou not blessed the works of his hands, and multiplied his cattle upon the land? |

| но посли́ ру́ку Твою́ і косни́ся всіх, я́же і́мать, а́ще не в лице́ Тя благослови́ть, | But put forth thine hand, and touch all that he has: verily he will bless thee to thy face. |

| Тогда́ рече́ Госпо́дь дия́волу: се, вся, єли́ка суть єму́, даю́ в ру́ку твою́, но самого́ да не ко́снешися. І ізи́де дия́вол от Го́спода. | Then the Lord said to the devil, Behold, I give into thine hand all that he has, but touch not himself. So the devil went out from the presence of the Lord. |

| І бисть я́ко день сей, си́нове І́овлеви і дще́рі єго́ пія́ху вино́ в дому́ бра́та своєго́ старі́йшаго. | And it came to pass on a certain day, that Job's sons and his daughters were drinking wine in the house of their elder brother. |

|
| І се, ві́стник при́йде ко І́ову і рече́ єму́: супру́зі воло́в оря́ху, і осли́ці пася́хуся близ їх; | And, behold, there came a messenger to Job, and said to him, The yokes of oxen were ploughing, and the she-asses were feeding near them; |

|
| і прише́дше пліни́теліє пліни́ша їх і о́троки ізби́ша мече́м, і спасо́хся аз єди́н і прийдо́х возвісти́ти тебі́. | and the spoilers came and took them for a prey, and slew the servants with the sword; and I having escaped alone am come to tell thee. |

| Єще́ сему́ глаго́лющу, при́йде ін ві́стник і рече́ ко І́ову: огнь спаде́ с небесе́ і пожже́ о́вці і па́стирі пояде́ подо́бні, спасо́хся же аз єди́н і прийдо́х возвісти́ти тебі́. | While he was yet speaking, there came another messenger, and said to Job, Fire has fallen from heaven, and burnt up the sheep, and devoured the shepherds likewise; and I having escaped alone am come to tell thee. |

| Єще́ сему́ глаго́лющу, при́йде ін ві́стник і рече́ ко І́ову: ко́нниці сотвори́ша нача́льства три і окружи́ша велблю́ди і пліни́ша їх і о́троки ізби́ша мечми́, спасо́хся же аз єди́н і прийдо́х возвісти́ти тебі́. | While he was yet speaking, there came another messenger, and said to Job, The horsemen formed three companies against us, and surrounded the camels, and took them for a prey, and slew the servants with the sword; and I only escaped, and am come to tell thee. |

| Єще́ сему́ глаго́лющу, ін ві́стник при́йде, глаго́ля І́ову: сино́м твої́м і дще́рем твої́м яду́щим і пію́щим у бра́та своєго́ старі́йшаго, | While he is yet speaking, another messenger comes, saying to Job, While thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking with their elder brother, |

| внеза́пу вітр вели́к на́йде от пусти́ні і косну́ся чети́рем угло́м хра́мини, і паде́ хра́мина на ді́ти твоя́, і сконча́шася; спасо́хся же аз єди́н і прийдо́х возвісти́ти тебі́. | suddenly a great wind came on from the desert, and caught the four corners of the house, and the house fell upon thy children, and they are dead; and I have escaped alone, and am come to tell thee. |

| Та́ко (усли́шав) І́ов, воста́в растерза́ ри́зи своя́ і остриже́ власи́ глави́ своєя́, (і поси́па пе́рстію главу́ свою́), і пад на зе́млю, поклони́ся (Го́сподеві) | So Job arose, and rent his garments, and shaved the hair of his head, and fell on the earth, and worshipped, |

| і рече́: сам наг ізидо́х от чре́ва ма́тере моєя́, наг і отиду́ та́мо; Госпо́дь даде́, Госпо́дь от'я́т; я́ко Го́сподеві ізво́лися, та́ко бисть; бу́ди і́м'я Госпо́днє благослове́нно (во ві́ки). | and said, I myself came forth naked from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, the Lord has taken away: as it seemed good to the Lord, so has it come to pass; blessed be the name of the Lord. |

| Во всіх сих приключи́вшихся єму́ нічто́же согріши́ І́ов пред Го́сподем, (ніже́ устна́ма свої́ма), і не даде́ безу́мія Бо́гу. | In all these events that befel him Job sinned not at all before the Lord, and did not impute folly to God. |
