(Зач. 1) Поне́же у́бо мно́зі нача́ша чини́ти по́вість о ізві́ствованних в нас веще́х,

Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to draw up a narrative concerning those matters which have been fulfilled among us,

я́коже преда́ша нам, і́же іспе́рва самови́дці і слу́ги би́вшії Словесе́;

even as they delivered them unto us, who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word,

ізво́лися і мні послі́довавшу ви́ше вся іспи́тно, поря́ду писа́ти тебі́, держа́вний Феофі́ле,

it seemed good to me also, having traced the course of all things accurately from the first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus;

да разумі́єши, о ни́хже научи́лся єси́ словесі́х утвержде́ніє.

that thou mightest know the certainty concerning the things wherein thou wast instructed.

(Зач. 2) Бисть во дні І́рода царя́ Іуде́йська, ієре́й ні́кий, і́менем Заха́рія, от дневни́я чреди́ Авія́ни, і жена́ єго́ от дще́рей Ааро́новіх, і і́м'я єй Єлисаве́т.

There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zechariah, of the course of Abijah: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.

Бі́ста же пра́ведна о́ба пред Бо́гом, ходя́ща во всіх за́повідех і оправда́ніїх Госпо́дніх безпоро́чна.

And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

І не бі ї́ма ча́да, поне́же Єлисаве́т бі непло́ди, і о́ба заматорі́вша во днех свої́х бі́ста.

And they had no child, because that Elizabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.

Бисть же служа́щу єму́ в чину́ чреди́ своєя́ пред Бо́гом,

Now it came to pass, while he executed the priest’s office before God in the order of his course,

по оби́чаю свяще́нничества ключи́ся єму́ покади́ти, вше́дшу в це́рков Госпо́дню,

according to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to enter into the temple of the Lord and burn incense.

і все мно́жество люде́й бі моли́тву ді́я вні, в год [во вре́м'я] фиміа́ма;

And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the hour of incense.

яви́ся же єму́ А́нгел Госпо́день, стоя́ одесну́ю олтаря́ кади́льнаго;

And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

і смути́ся Заха́рія ви́дів, і страх нападе́ нань.

And Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him.

Рече́ же к нему́ А́нгел: не бо́йся, Заха́ріє, зане́ усли́шана бисть моли́тва твоя́, і жена́ твоя́ Єлисаве́т роди́ть си́на тебі́, і нарече́ши і́м'я єму́ Іоа́нн.

But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zechariah: because thy supplication is heard, and thy wife Elizabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

І бу́деть тебі́ ра́дость і весе́ліє, і мно́зі о рождестві́ єго́ возра́дуються.

And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.

Бу́деть бо ве́лій пред Го́сподем; і вина́, і сике́ра не і́мать пи́ти, і Ду́ха Свята́го іспо́лниться єще́ із чре́ва ма́тере своєя́;

For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and he shall drink no wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.

і мно́гих от сино́в Ізра́їлевих обрати́ть ко Го́споду Бо́гу їх.

And many of the children of Israel shall he turn unto the Lord their God.

І той преди́деть пред Ним ду́хом і си́лою Іліїно́ю, обрати́ти сердця́ отце́м на ча́да, і проти́вния в му́дрості пра́ведних, угото́вати Го́сподеві лю́ди соверше́ни.

And he shall go before his face in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to walk in the wisdom of the just; to make ready for the Lord a people prepared for him.

І рече́ Заха́рія ко А́нгелу: по чесому́ разумі́ю сіє́? Аз бо єсьм стар, і жена́ моя́ заматорі́вши во днех свої́х.

And Zechariah said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.

І отвіща́в А́нгел рече́ єму́: аз єсьм Гавриї́л предстоя́й пред Бо́гом, і по́слан єсьм глаго́лати к тебі́ і благовісти́ти тебі́ сія́;

And the angel answered and said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and I was sent to speak unto thee, and to bring thee these good tidings.

і се бу́деши молчя́ і не моги́й проглаго́лати, до него́же дне бу́дуть сія́, зане́ не ві́ровал єси́ словесе́м мої́м, я́же сбу́дуться во вре́м'я своє́.

And behold, thou shalt be silent and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall come to pass, because thou believedst not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

І бі́ша лю́діє жду́ще Заха́рію і чудя́хуся косня́щу єму́ в це́ркві.

And the people were waiting for Zechariah, and they marveled while he tarried in the temple.

Ізше́д же не можа́ше глаго́лати к ним; і разумі́ша, я́ко виді́ніє ви́ді в це́ркві; і той бі помава́я їм, і пребива́ше нім.

And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: and he continued making signs unto them, and remained dumb.

І бисть я́ко іспо́лнишася дні́є слу́жби єго́, і́де в дом свой.

And it came to pass, when the days of his ministration were fulfilled, he departed unto his house.

(Зач. 3) По сих же днех зача́т Єлисаве́т, жена́ єго́, і тая́шеся мі́сяць п'ять, глаго́лющи:

And after these days Elizabeth his wife conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying,

я́ко та́ко мні сотвори́ Госпо́дь во дні, в ня́же призрі́ от’я́ти поноше́ніє моє́ в челові́ціх.

Thus hath the Lord done unto me in the days wherein he looked upon me, to take away my reproach among men.

В мі́сяць же шести́й по́слан бисть А́нгел Гавриї́л от Бо́га во град Галиле́йський, єму́же і́м'я Назаре́т,

Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

к Ді́ві обруче́нній му́жеві, єму́же і́м'я Іо́сиф, от до́му Дави́дова; і і́м'я Ді́ві Маріа́м.

to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.

І вшед к Ней А́нгел рече́: ра́дуйся, Благода́тная! Госпо́дь с Тобо́ю, благослове́нна Ти в жена́х.

And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

Она́ же ви́дівши смути́ся о словесі́ єго́ і помишля́ше, каково́ бу́деть цілова́ніє сіє́.

And when she saw him, she was greatly troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this might be.

І рече́ А́нгел Єй: не бо́йся, Маріа́м! Обріла́ бо єси́ благода́ть у Бо́га.

And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God.

І се зачне́ши во чре́ві, і роди́ши Си́на, і нарече́ши і́м'я Єму́ Ісу́с.

And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

Сей бу́деть ве́лій, і Син Ви́шняго нарече́ться; і дасть Єму́ Госпо́дь Бог престо́л Дави́да, отця́ Єго́;

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

і воцари́ться в дому́ Іа́ковлі во ві́ки, і Ца́рствію Єго́ не бу́деть конця́.

and he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Рече́ же Маріа́м ко А́нгелу: ка́ко бу́деть сіє́, іді́же му́жа не зна́ю?

And Mary said unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

І отвіща́в А́нгел рече́ Єй: Дух Святи́й на́йдеть на Тя, і си́ла Ви́шняго осіни́ть Тя; ті́мже і ражда́ємоє Свя́то нарече́ться Син Бо́жий:

And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee: wherefore also the holy thing which is begotten shall be called the Son of God.

і се, Єлисаве́т, ю́жика Твоя́, і та зача́т си́на в ста́рості своє́й, і сей мі́сяць шести́й єсть єй нарица́ємій непло́ди;

And behold, Elizabeth thy kinswoman, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her that was called barren.

я́ко не ізнемо́жеть у Бо́га всяк глаго́л.

For nothing shall be impossible with God.

Рече́ же Маріа́м: се Раба́ Госпо́дня; бу́ди Мні по глаго́лу твоєму́. І оти́де от Нея́ А́нгел.

And Mary said, Behold, the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

(Зач. 4) Воста́вши же Маріа́м во дні ти́я, і́де в го́рняя со тща́нієм, во град Іу́дов;

And Mary arose in these days and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah;

і вни́де в дом Заха́ріїн, і цілова́ Єлисаве́т.

and entered into the house of Zechariah and saluted Elizabeth.

І бисть я́ко усли́ша Єлисаве́т цілова́ніє Марі́їно, взигра́ся младе́нець во чре́ві єя́; і іспо́лнися Ду́ха Свя́та Єлисаве́т,

And it came to pass, when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit;

і возопи́ гла́сом ве́ліїм, і рече́: благослове́нна Ти в жена́х, і благослове́н плод чре́ва Твоєго́!

and she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

І отку́ду мні сіє́, да при́йдеть Ма́ти Го́спода моєго́ ко мні?

And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come unto me?

Се бо, я́ко бисть глас цілова́нія Твоєго́ во у́шію моє́ю, взигра́ся младе́нець ра́дощами во чре́ві моє́м.

For behold, when the voice of thy salutation came into mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

І блаже́нна Ві́ровавшая, я́ко бу́деть соверше́ніє глаго́ланним Єй от Го́спода.

And blessed is she that believed; for there shall be a fulfillment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord.

І рече́ Маріа́м: вели́чить душа́ Моя́ Го́спода,

And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

і возра́довася дух Мой о Бо́зі, Спасі Моє́м;

And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior.

я́ко призрі́ на смире́ніє Раби́ Своєя́; се бо, отни́ні ублажа́ть М'я всі ро́ди;

For he hath looked upon the low estate of his handmaid: For behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

я́ко сотвори́ Мні вели́чіє Си́льний, і свя́то і́м'я Єго́;

For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; And holy is his name.

і ми́лость Єго́ в ро́ди родо́в боя́щимся Єго́;

And his mercy is unto generations of generations On them that fear him.

сотвори́ держа́ву ми́шцею Своє́ю; расточи́ го́рдия ми́слію се́рдця їх;

He hath shown strength with his arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their heart.

низложи́ си́льния со престо́л, і вознесе́ смире́нния;

He hath put down princes from their thrones, And hath exalted them of low degree.

а́лчущия іспо́лни благ, і богатя́щияся отпусти́ тщи.

The hungry he hath filled with good things; And the rich he hath sent empty away.

Восприя́т Ізра́їля, о́трока Своєго́, пом'яну́ти ми́лости,

He hath given help to Israel his servant, That he might remember mercy

я́коже глаго́ла ко отце́м на́шим, Авраа́му і сі́мені єго́ до ві́ка.

(As he spake unto our fathers) Toward Abraham and his seed forever.

Преби́сть же Маріа́м с не́ю я́ко три мі́сяці і возврати́ся в дом Cвой.

And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned unto her house.

Єлисаве́ті же іспо́лнися вре́м'я роди́ти єй, і роди́ си́на.

Now Elizabeth’s time was fulfilled that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.

І сли́шаша о́крест живу́щії і у́жики єя́, я́ко возвели́чил єсть Госпо́дь ми́лость Свою́ с не́ю, і ра́довахуся с не́ю.

And her neighbors and her kinsfolk heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy toward her; and they rejoiced with her.

І бисть во осьми́й день, прийдо́ша обрі́зати отроча́, і нарица́ху є і́менем отця́ єго́ — Заха́рію.

And it came to pass on the eighth day, that they came to circumcise the child; and they would have called him Zechariah, after the name of his father.

І отвіща́вши ма́ти єго́ рече́: ні, но да нарече́ться Іоа́нн.

And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.

І рі́ша к ней, я́ко нікто́же єсть в родстві́ твоє́м, і́же нарица́ється і́менем тім.

And they said unto her, There is none among thy kindred that is called by this name.

І помава́ху отцю́ єго́, є́же ка́ко би хоті́л нарещи́ є.

And they made signs to his father, what he would have him called.

І іспро́ш дщи́цю, написа́, глаго́ля: Іоа́нн бу́деть і́м'я єму́. І чудя́хуся всі.

And he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marveled all.

Отверзо́шася же уста́ єго́ а́біє і язи́к єго́, і глаго́лаше, благослов'я́ Бо́га.

And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, blessing God.

І бисть на всіх страх живу́щих о́крест їх; і во всей страні́ Іуде́йстій пові́даємі бя́ху всі глаго́ли сі́ї.

And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judea.

І положи́ша всі сли́шавшії в се́рдці своє́м, глаго́люще: что у́бо отроча́ сіє́ бу́деть? І рука́ Госпо́дня бі с ним.

And all that heard them laid them up in their heart, saying, What then shall this child be? And the hand of the Lord was with him.

І Заха́рія, оте́ць єго́, іспо́лнися Ду́ха Свя́та, і проро́чествова, глаго́ля:

And his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,

благослове́н Госпо́дь Бог Ізра́їлев, я́ко посіти́ і сотвори́ ізбавле́ніє лю́дем Свої́м;

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; For he hath visited and wrought redemption for his people,

і воздви́же рог спаcе́нія нам, в дому́ Дави́да, о́трока Своєго́;

And hath raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of his servant David

я́коже глаго́ла усти́ святи́х су́щих от ві́ка проро́к Єго́,

(As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets that have been from of old),

спасе́ніє от враг на́ших і із руки́ всіх ненави́дящих нас;

Salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;

сотвори́ти ми́лость со отці́ на́шими і пом'яну́ти заві́т святи́й Свой —

To show mercy toward our fathers, And to remember his holy covenant;

кля́тву, є́юже кля́тся ко Авраа́му, отцю́ на́шему, да́ти нам,

The oath which he sware unto Abraham our father, To grant unto us

без стра́ха, із руки́ враг на́ших ізба́вльшимся,

that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies Should serve him without fear,

служи́ти Єму́ преподо́бієм і пра́вдою пред Ним вся дні живота́ на́шего.

In holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life.

І ти, отроча́, проро́к Ви́шняго нарече́шися, преди́деши бо пред лице́м Госпо́днім, угото́вати путі́ Єго́,

And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Most High: For thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to make ready his ways;

да́ти ра́зум спаcе́нія лю́дем Єго́, во оставле́ніє гріх їх,

To give knowledge of salvation unto his people In the remission of their sins,

милосе́рдія ра́ди ми́лости Бо́га на́шего, в ни́хже посіти́л єсть нас Восто́к сви́ше,

Because of the tender mercy of our God, Whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,

просвіти́ти во тьмі і сі́ні сме́ртній сідя́щия, напра́вити но́ги на́ша на путь ми́рен.

To shine upon them that sit in darkness and the shadow of death; To guide our feet into the way of peace.

Отроча́ же растя́ше і кріпля́шеся ду́хом, і бі в пусти́нех до дне явле́нія своєго́ ко Ізра́їлю.

And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his showing unto Israel.

(Зач. 5) Бисть же во дні ти́я, ізи́де повелі́ніє от ке́саря А́вгуста написа́ти всю вселе́нную.

Now it came to pass in those days, there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be enrolled.

Сіє́ написа́ніє пе́рвоє бисть владя́щу Сирі́єю Кирині́ю.

This was the first enrollment made when Quirinius was governor of Syria.

І ідя́ху всі написа́тися, ко́ждо во свой град.

And all went to enroll themselves, every one to his own city.

Взи́де же і Іо́сиф от Галиле́ї, із гра́да Назаре́та, во Іуде́ю, во град Дави́дов, і́же нарица́ється Вифлеє́м, зане́ би́ти єму́ от до́му і оте́чества Дави́дова,

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David;

написа́тися с Марі́єю обруче́ною єму́ жено́ю, су́щею непра́здною.

to enroll himself with Mary, who was betrothed to him as his wife, being great with child.

Бисть же, єгда́ би́ста та́мо, іспо́лнишася дні́є роди́ти Єй;

And it came to pass, while they were there, the days were fulfilled that she should be delivered.

і роди́ Си́на Своєго́ Пе́рвенця, і пови́т Єго́, і положи́ Єго́ в я́слех, зане́ не бі їм мі́ста во оби́телі.

And she brought forth her firstborn son; and she wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in the manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

І па́стиріє бі́ху в то́йже страні́, бдя́ще і стрегу́ще стра́жу нощну́ю о ста́ді своє́м.

And there were shepherds in the same country abiding in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock.

І се А́нгел Госпо́день ста в них, і сла́ва Госпо́дня осія́ їх; і убоя́шася стра́хом ве́ліїм.

And lo, an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

І рече́ їм А́нгел: не бо́йтеся; се бо благовіству́ю вам ра́дость ве́лію, я́же бу́деть всім лю́дем;

And the angel said unto them, Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all the people:

я́ко роди́ся вам днесь Спас, І́же єсть Христо́с Госпо́дь, во гра́ді Дави́дові;

for there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

і се вам зна́меніє: обря́щете Младе́нця пови́та, лежа́ща в я́слех.

And this is the sign unto you: Ye shall find a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in the manger.

І внеза́пу бисть со А́нгелом мно́жество вой небе́сних, хва́лящих Бо́га і глаго́лющих:

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

сла́ва в ви́шніх Бо́гу, і на землі́ мир, во челові́ціх благоволе́ніє.

Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, good pleasure among men.

І бисть, я́ко отидо́ша от них на не́бо А́нгели, і челові́ци па́стиріє рі́ша друг ко дру́гу: пре́йдем до Вифлеє́ма і ви́дім глаго́л сей би́вший, єго́же Госпо́дь сказа́ нам.

And it came to pass, when the angels went away from them into heaven, that the men, the shepherds, said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing that is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

І прийдо́ша поспі́шшеся, і обріто́ша Маріа́м же і Іо́сифа, і Младе́нця лежа́ща во я́слех.

And they came with haste, and found both Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in the manger.

Ви́дівше же сказа́ша о глаго́лі глаго́ланнім їм о Отроча́ті Сем.

And when they saw it, they made known abroad concerning the saying which was spoken to them about this child.

І всі сли́шавшії диви́шася о глаго́ланних от па́стирей к ним.

And all that heard it wondered at the things which were spoken unto them by the shepherds.

Маріа́м же соблюда́ше вся глаго́ли сія́, слага́ющи в се́рдці Своє́м.

But Mary kept all these sayings, pondering them in her heart.

(Зач. 6) І возврати́шася па́стиріє, сла́в’яще і хва́ляще Бо́га о всіх, я́же сли́шаша і ви́діша, я́коже глаго́лано бисть к ним.

And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, even as it was spoken unto them.

І єгда́ іспо́лнишася осьм дній, да обрі́жуть Єго́, і нареко́ша і́м'я Єму́ Ісу́с, нарече́нноє А́нгелом пре́жде да́же не зача́тся во чре́ві.

And when eight days were fulfilled for circumcising him, his name was called JESUS, which was so called by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

І єгда́ іспо́лнишася дні́є очище́нія єю́, по зако́ну Моїсе́йову, (Зач. 7) вознесо́ста Єго́ во Ієрусали́м, поста́вити Єго́ пред Го́сподем,

And when the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were fulfilled, they brought him up to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord

я́коже єсть пи́сано в зако́ні Госпо́дні: я́ко всяк младе́нець му́жеська по́лу, разверза́я ложесна́, свя́то Го́сподеві нарече́ться;

(as it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord),

і є́же да́ти же́ртву, по рече́нному в зако́ні Госпо́дні, два го́рличища іли́ два птенця́ голуби́на.

and to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.

(Зач. 8) І се бі челові́к во Ієрусали́мі, єму́же і́м'я Симео́н; і челові́к сей пра́веден і благочи́сти́в, ча́я уті́хи Ізра́їлеви; і Дух бі Свят в нем.

And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

І бі єму́ обі́щано Ду́хом Святи́м, не ви́діти сме́рти, пре́жде да́же не ви́дить Христа́ Госпо́дня.

And it had been revealed unto him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

І при́йде Ду́хом в це́рков. І єгда́ введо́ста роди́теля Отроча́ Ісу́са, сотвори́ти ї́ма по оби́чаю зако́нному о Нем,

And he came in the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, that they might do concerning him after the custom of the law,

і той приє́м Єго́ на руку́ своє́ю, і благослови́ Бо́га, і рече́:

then he received him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,

ни́ні отпуща́єши раба́ Твоєго́, Влади́ко, по глаго́лу Твоєму́, с ми́ром,

Now lettest thou thy servant depart, Lord, According to thy word, in peace;

я́ко ви́дісті о́чі мої́ спасе́ніє Твоє́,

For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

є́же єси́ уго́товал пред лице́м всіх люде́й,

Which thou hast prepared before the face of all peoples;

світ во открове́ніє язи́ком, і сла́ву люде́й Твої́х Ізра́їля.

A light for revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of thy people Israel.

І бі Іо́сиф і Ма́ти Єго́ чудя́щася о глаго́лемих о Нем.

And Joseph and his mother were marveling at the things which were spoken concerning him;

І благослови́ я Симео́н, і рече́ к Марі́ї, Ма́тері Єго́: се лежи́ть Сей на паде́ніє і на воста́ніє мно́гим во Ізра́їлі, і в зна́меніє пререка́ємо, —

and Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the falling and the rising of many in Israel; and for a sign which is spoken against;

і Тебі́ же Само́й ду́шу про́йдеть ору́жіє, — я́ко да откри́ються от мно́гих серде́ць помишле́нія.

yea and a sword shall pierce through thine own soul; that thoughts out of many hearts may be revealed.

І бі А́нна проро́чиця, дщи Фану́їлева, от колі́на Аси́рова, сія́ заматорі́вши во днех мно́зіх, жи́вши с му́жем седьм літ от ді́вства своєго́;

And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher (she was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity,

і та вдова́ я́ко літ о́сьмдесят і чети́ре, я́же не отхожда́ше от це́ркве, посто́м і моли́твами служа́щи день і нощ.

and she was a widow of about fourscore and four years), who departed not from the temple, worshiping with fastings and supplications night and day.

І та в той час приста́вши іспові́дашеся Го́сподеві, і глаго́лаше о Нем всім ча́ющим ізбавле́нія во Ієрусали́мі.

And she, coming up at that very hour, gave thanks unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that were looking for redemption in Jerusalem.

І я́ко сконча́шася вся по зако́ну Госпо́дню, возврати́шася в Галиле́ю, во град свой Назаре́т.

And when they had accomplished all things that were according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

Отроча́ же растя́ше і кріпля́шеся ду́хом, ісполня́яся прему́дрости, і благода́ть Бо́жия бі на Нем.

And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

І хожда́ста роди́теля Єго́ на вся́ко лі́то во Ієрусали́м в пра́здник Па́схи.

And his parents went every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the passover.

І єгда́ бисть двоюна́десяти лі́ту, восходя́щим їм во Ієрусали́м по оби́чаю пра́здника,

And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast;

і сконча́вшим дні, і возвраща́ющимся їм, оста́ О́трок Ісу́с во Ієрусали́мі; і не разумі́ Іо́сиф і Ма́ти Єго́;

and when they had fulfilled the days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew it not;

мні́вша же Єго́ в дружи́ні су́ща, преідо́ста дне путь, і іска́ста Єго́ во сро́дниціх і в зна́ємих;

but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day’s journey; and they sought for him among their kinsfolk and among their acquaintance:

і не обрі́тша Єго́, возврати́стася во Ієрусали́м, взиска́юща Єго́.

and when they found him not, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking him.

І бисть по тріє́х днех, обріто́ста Єго́ в це́ркві, сідя́щаго посреді́ учи́телей, і послу́шающаго їх, і вопроша́ющаго їх;

And it came to pass, after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both hearing them, and asking them questions:

ужаса́хуся же всі послу́шающії Єго́ о ра́зумі і о отві́тіх Єго́.

and all that heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.

І ви́дівша Єго́, диви́стася; і к Нему́ Ма́ти Єго́ рече́: Ча́до, что сотвори́ на́ма та́ко? Се оте́ць Твой і Аз боля́ща іска́хома Тебе́.

And when they saw him, they were astonished; and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I sought thee sorrowing.

І рече́ к ни́ма: что я́ко іска́ста Мене́? Не ві́ста ли, я́ко в тіх, я́же Отця́ Моєго́, досто́їть би́ти Мі?

And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? knew ye not that I must be in my Father’s house?

І та не разумі́ста глаго́ла, єго́же глаго́ла Ї́ма.

And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.

І сни́де с ни́ма, і при́йде в Назаре́т; і бі повину́яся ї́ма. І Ма́ти Єго́ соблюда́ше вся глаго́ли сія́ в се́рдці Своє́м.

And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth; and he was subject unto them: and his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

І Ісу́с преспіва́ше прему́дростію і во́зрастом і благода́тію у Бо́га і челові́к.

And Jesus advanced in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

(Зач. 9) В п'я́тоє же на́десяте лі́то влади́чества Тиве́рія ке́саря, облада́ющу Понті́йському Пила́ту Іуде́єю, і четвертовла́ствующу Галиле́єю І́роду, Фили́ппу же бра́ту єго́ четвертовла́ствующу Ітуре́єю і Трахоні́тською страно́ю, і Лиса́нію Авилині́єю четвертовла́ствующу,

Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,

при архієре́ї А́нні і Кая́фі, бисть глаго́л Бо́жий ко Іоа́нну Заха́ріїну си́ну в пусти́ні.

in the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came unto John the son of Zechariah in the wilderness.

І при́йде во всю страну́ Іорда́нськую, пропові́дая креще́ніє покая́нія во оставле́ніє гріхо́в,

And he came into all the region round about the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance unto remission of sins;

я́коже єсть пи́сано в кни́зі слове́с Іса́ї проро́ка, глаго́люща: глас вопію́щаго в пусти́ні: угото́вайте путь Госпо́день, пра́ви творі́те стезі́ Єго́;

as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ye ready the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight.

вся́ка дебр іспо́лниться, і вся́ка гора́ і холм смири́ться; і бу́дуть стро́потная в пра́вая, і о́стрії в путі́ гла́дкі;

Every valley shall be filled, And every mountain and hill shall be brought low; And the crooked shall become straight, And the rough ways smooth;

і у́зрить вся́ка плоть спасе́ніє Бо́жиє.

And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

Глаго́лаше же ісходя́щим наро́дом крести́тися от него́: порожде́нія єхи́днова! Кто сказа́ вам біжа́ти от гряду́щаго гні́ва?

He said therefore to the multitudes that went out to be baptized of him, Ye offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

Сотворі́те у́бо плоди́ досто́йни покая́нія, і не начина́йте глаго́лати в себі́: отця́ і́мами Авраа́ма. Глаго́лю бо вам, я́ко мо́жеть Бог от ка́менія сего́ воздви́гнути ча́да Авраа́му.

Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

Уже́ бо і сіки́ра при ко́рені дре́ва лежи́ть: вся́ко у́бо дре́во, не творя́щеє плода́ добра́, посіка́ється і во огнь вмета́ється.

And even now the axe also lieth at the root of the trees: every tree therefore that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

І вопроша́ху єго́ наро́ди, глаго́люще: что у́бо сотвори́м?

And the multitudes asked him, saying, What then shall we do?

Отвіща́в же глаго́ла їм: імі́яй дві ри́зі, да пода́сть не іму́щему, і імі́яй бра́шна, тако́жде да твори́ть.

And he answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath food, let him do likewise.

Прийдо́ша же і ми́тарі крести́тися от него́, і рі́ша к нему́: учи́телю, что сотвори́м?

And there came also publicans to be baptized, and they said unto him, Teacher, what shall we do?

Он же рече́ к ним: нічто́же бо́ліє от повелі́ннаго вам творі́те.

And he said unto them, Extort no more than that which is appointed you.

Вопроша́ху же єго́ і во́їни, глаго́люще: і ми что сотвори́м? І рече́ к ним: ні кого́же оби́діте, ні оклеветава́йте, і дово́льни бу́діте обро́ки ва́шими.

And soldiers also asked him, saying, And we, what shall we do? And he said unto them, Extort from no man by violence, neither accuse anyone wrongfully; and be content with your wages.

Ча́ющим же лю́дем і помишля́ющим всім в сердця́х свої́х о Іоа́нні, єда́ той єсть Христо́с,

And as the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether haply he were the Christ;

отвіщава́ше Іоа́нн всім, глаго́ля: аз у́бо водо́ю креща́ю ви, гряде́ть же Крі́плій мене́, Єму́же нісьм досто́їн отріши́ти реме́нь сапогу́ Єго́; Той ви крести́ть Ду́хом Святи́м і огне́м;

John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but there cometh he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire:

Єму́же лопа́та в руку́ Єго́, і отреби́ть гумно́ Своє́, і собере́ть пшени́цю в жи́тницю Свою́, пле́ви же сожже́ть огне́м негаса́ющим.

whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.

Мно́га же у́бо і і́на, утіша́я благовіствова́ше лю́дем.

With many other exhortations therefore preached he good tidings unto the people;

(Зач. 10) І́род же четвертовла́стник, облича́єм от него́ о Іродіа́ді, жені́ бра́та своєго́, і о всіх, я́же сотвори́ зла́я І́род,

but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,

приложи́ і сіє́ над всі́ми, і затвори́ Іоа́нна в темни́ці.

added this also to them all, that he shut up John in the prison.

Бисть же єгда́ крести́шася всі лю́діє, і Ісу́су кре́щшуся і моля́щуся, отве́рзеся не́бо,

Now it came to pass, when all the people were baptized, that, Jesus also having been baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,

і сни́де Дух Святи́й тіле́сним о́бразом, я́ко го́луб, Нань; і глас с небесе́ бисть, глаго́ля: Ти єси́ Син Мой Возлю́бленний, о Тебі́ благоволи́х.

and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form, as a dove, upon him, and a voice came out of heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

And Jesus himself, when he began to teach, was about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, the son of Heli,

(Зач. 12) Ісу́с же іспо́лнь Ду́ха Свя́та возврати́ся от Іорда́на; і ведя́шеся Ду́хом в пусти́ню,

And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led in the Spirit into the wilderness

дній чети́ридесять іскуша́єм от дия́вола; і не ясть нічесо́же во дні ти́я; і сконча́вшимся їм, посліди́ взалка́.

during forty days, being tempted of the devil. And he did eat nothing in those days: and when they were completed, he afterward hungered.

І рече́ Єму́ дия́вол: а́ще Син єси́ Бо́жий, рци ка́меневи сему́, да бу́деть хліб.

And the devil said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, command this stone that it become bread.

І отвіща́ Ісу́с к нему́, глаго́ля: пи́сано єсть, я́ко не о хлі́бі єди́ном жив бу́деть челові́к, но о вся́ком глаго́лі Бо́жиї.

And Jesus answered unto him, saying, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

І возве́д Єго́ дия́вол на гору́ високу́, показа́ Єму́ вся ца́рствія вселе́нния в ча́сі [черті́] вре́менні.

And the devil, leading him up into a high mountain, showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

І рече́ Єму́ дия́вол: Тебі́ дам власть сію́ всю і сла́ву їх, я́ко мні предана́ єсть, і, єму́же а́ще хощу́, дам ю;

And the devil said unto him, To thee will I give all this authority, and the glory of them: for it hath been delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

Ти у́бо а́ще поклони́шися пре́до мно́ю, бу́дуть Тебі́ вся.

If thou therefore wilt worship before me, it shall all be thine.

І отвіща́в рече́ єму́ Ісу́с: іди́ за Мно́ю, сатано́, пи́сано єсть: поклони́шися Го́споду Бо́гу твоєму́, і Тому́ єди́ному послу́жиши.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

І веде́ Єго́ во Ієрусали́м, і поста́ви Єго́ на крилі́ церко́внім, і рече́ Єму́: а́ще Син єси́ Бо́жий, ве́рзися отсю́ду до́лу;

And he led him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

пи́сано бо єсть, я́ко А́нгелом Свої́м запові́сть о Тебі́ сохрани́ти Тя;

for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee, to guard thee:

і на рука́х во́зьмуть Тя, да не когда́ преткне́ши о ка́мень но́гу Твою́.

and, On their hands they shall bear thee up, Lest haply thou dash thy foot against a stone.

І отвіща́в рече́ єму́ Ісу́с, я́ко рече́но єсть: не іску́сиши Го́спода Бо́га твоєго́.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God.

І сконча́в все іскуше́ніє дия́вол, оти́де от Него́ до вре́мене.

And when the devil had completed every temptation, he departed from him for a season.

І возврати́ся Ісу́с в си́лі духо́вній в Галиле́ю; і вість ізи́де по всей страні́ о Нем.

And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and a fame went out concerning him through all the region round about.

І Той уча́ше на со́нмищих їх, сла́вим всі́ми.

And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

(Зач. 13) І при́йде в Назаре́т, іді́же бі воспита́н; і вни́де, по оби́чаю Своєму́, в день субо́тний в со́нмище, і воста́ чести́.

And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and he entered, as his custom was, into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up to read.

І да́ша Єму́ кни́гу Іса́ї проро́ка; і разгну́в кни́гу, обрі́те мі́сто, іді́же бі напи́сано:

And there was delivered unto him the book of Isaiah the prophet. And he unrolled the book, and found the place where it was written,

Дух Госпо́день на Мні; Єго́же ра́ди пома́за М'я благовісти́ти ни́щим, посла́ М'я ісціли́ти сокруше́нния се́рдцем, пропові́дати пліне́нним отпуще́ніє і сліпи́м прозрі́ніє, отпусти́ти сокруше́нния во отра́ду,

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, Because he anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor: He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim release to the captives, And recovering of sight to the blind, To set at liberty them that are bruised,

пропові́дати лі́то Госпо́днє прия́тно.

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.

І согну́в кни́гу, отда́в слузі́, сі́де; і всім в со́нмищі о́чі бі́ху зря́ще Нань.

And he closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant, and sat down: and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him.

І нача́т глаго́лати к ним, я́ко днесь сби́сться писа́ніє сіє́ во у́шію ва́шею.

And he began to say unto them, Today hath this scripture been fulfilled in your ears.

І всі свиді́тельствоваху Єму́, (Зач. 14) і дивля́хуся о словесі́х благода́ті, ісходя́щих із уст Єго́, і глаго́лаху: не Сей ли єсть Син Іо́сифов?

And all bare him witness, and wondered at the words of grace which proceeded out of his mouth: and they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?

І рече́ к ним: вся́ко рече́те Мі при́тчу сію́: врачу́, ісціли́ся Сам, єли́ка сли́шахом би́вшая в Капернау́мі, сотвори́ і зді во оте́чествії Своє́м.

And he said unto them, Doubtless ye will say unto me this parable, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thine own country.

Рече́ же: амі́нь глаго́лю вам, я́ко ні кото́рий проро́к прия́тен єсть во оте́чествії своє́м;

And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is acceptable in his own country.

поі́стинні же глаго́лю вам: мно́гі вдови́ці бі́ша во дні Іліїни́ во Ізра́їлі, єгда́ заключи́ся не́бо три лі́та і мі́сяць шесть, я́ко бисть глад вели́к по всей землі́;

But of a truth I say unto you, There were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there came a great famine over all the land;

і ні ко єди́ной їх по́слан бисть Ілія́, то́кмо в Саре́пту Сидо́нськую к жені́ вдови́ці.

and unto none of them was Elijah sent, but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.

І мно́зі прокаже́нні бі́ху при Єліссе́ї проро́ці во Ізра́їлі; і ні єди́н же от них очи́стися, то́кмо Неєма́н Сиріяни́н.

And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian.

І іспо́лнишася всі я́рости в со́нмищі, сли́шавшії сія́;

And they were all filled with wrath in the synagogue, as they heard these things;

і воста́вше ізгна́ша Єго́ вон із гра́да, і ведо́ша Єго́ до верху́ гори́, на не́йже град їх со́здан бя́ше, да би́ша Єго́ низри́нули;

and they rose up, and cast him forth out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might throw him down headlong.

Он же проше́д посреді́ їх, ідя́ше.

But he passing through the midst of them went his way.

(Зач. 15) І сни́де в Капернау́м, град Галиле́йський; і бі учя́ їх в субо́ти.

And he came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee. And he was teaching them on the sabbath day:

І ужаса́хуся о уче́нії Єго́, я́ко со вла́стію бі сло́во Єго́.

and they were astonished at his teaching; for his word was with authority.

І в со́нмищі бі челові́к іми́й ду́ха бі́са нечи́ста, і возопи́ гла́сом ве́ліїм,

And in the synagogue there was a man, that had a spirit of an unclean demon; and he cried out with a loud voice,

глаго́ля: оста́ви, что нам і Тебі́, Ісу́се Назаря́нине, прише́л єси́ погуби́ти нас; вім Тя, кто єси́, Святи́й Бо́жий.

saying, Ah! what have we to do with thee, Jesus thou Nazarene? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

І запрети́ єму́ Ісу́с, глаго́ля: премолчи́ і ізи́ди із него́. І пове́рг єго́ біс посреді́, ізи́де із него́, ніка́коже вреди́в єго́.

And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst, he came out of him, having done him no hurt.

І бисть у́жас на всіх, і стяза́хуся, друг ко дру́гу глаго́люще: что сло́во сіє́, я́ко вла́стію і си́лою вели́ть нечи́стим духово́м, і ісхо́дять?

And amazement came upon all, and they spake together, one with another, saying, What is this word, that with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out?

(Зач. 16) І ісхожда́ше глас о Нем во вся́ко мі́сто страни́.

And there went forth a rumor concerning him into every place of the region round about.

Воста́в же із со́нмища, вни́де в дом Си́монов; те́ща же Си́монова бі одержи́ма огне́м ве́ліїм; і моли́ша Єго́ о ней.

And he rose up out of the synagogue, and entered into the house of Simon. And Simon’s wife’s mother was holden with a great fever; and they besought him for her.

І став над не́ю, запрети́ огню́, і оста́ви ю; а́біє же воста́вши служа́ше їм.

And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she rose up and ministered unto them.

Заходя́щу же со́лнцю, всі, єли́ці імі́яху боля́щия неду́ги разли́чними, привожда́ху їх к Нему́; Он же на єди́наго коєго́ждо їх ру́ці возло́ж, ісціля́ше їх.

And when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with diverse diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

Ісхожда́ху же і бі́си от мно́гих, вопію́ще і глаго́люще, я́ко Ти єси́ Христо́с, Син Бо́жий. І запреща́я не дая́ше їм глаго́лати, я́ко ві́дяху Христа́ Самаго́ су́ща.

And demons also came out from many, crying out, and saying, Thou art the Christ, the Son of God. And rebuking them, he suffered them not to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.

Би́вшу же дні, ізше́д іде́ в пу́сто мі́сто; і наро́ди іска́ху Єго́, і прийдо́ша к Нему́, і удержава́ху Єго́, да би не отше́л от них.

And when it was day, he came out and went into a desert place: and the multitudes sought after him, and came unto him, and would have stayed him, that he should not go from them.

Он же рече́ к ним: я́ко і други́м градово́м благовісти́ти Мі подоба́єть Ца́рствіє Бо́жиє, я́ко на се по́слан єсьм.

But he said unto them, I must preach the good tidings of the kingdom of God to the other cities also: for to this end am I sent.

І бі пропові́дая на со́нмищих Галиле́йських.

And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.

(Зач. 17) Бисть же належа́щу Єму́ наро́ду, да би́ша сли́шали сло́во Бо́жиє, і Той бі стоя́ при є́зері Геннисаре́тсті,

Now it came to pass, while the multitude pressed upon him to hear the word of God, that he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret;

і ви́ді два корабля́ стоя́ща при є́зері; ри́баріє же отше́дше от нею́, ізмива́ху мре́жі.

and he saw two boats standing by the lake: but the fishermen had gone out of them, and were washing their nets.

Вліз же в єди́н от кораблю́, і́же бі Си́монов, моли́ єго́ от землі́ отступи́ти ма́ло; і сід уча́ше із корабля́ наро́ди.

And he entered into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the multitudes out of the boat.

Я́коже преста́ глаго́ля, рече́ к Си́мону: поступи́ во глубину́, і вве́рзіте мре́жі ва́ша в лови́тву.

And when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draft.

І отвіща́в Си́мон рече́ Єму́: Наста́вниче, об нощ всю тру́ждшеся, нічесо́же я́хом; по глаго́лу же Твоєму́ вве́ргу мре́жу.

And Simon answered and said unto him, Master, we toiled the whole night, and took nothing: but at thy word I will let down the net.

І се сотво́рше, я́ша мно́жество риб мно́го, протерза́шеся же мре́жа їх.

And when they had done this, they enclosed a great multitude of fish; and their net was breaking;

І поману́ша прича́стником, і́же бі́ху во друзі́м кораблі́, да прише́дше помо́гуть їм; і прийдо́ша, і іспо́лниша о́ба корабля́, я́ко погружа́тися ї́ма.

and they beckoned unto their partners, who were in the other boat, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.

Ви́дів же Си́мон Петр, припаде́ к колі́нома Ісу́совома, глаго́ля: ізи́ди от мене́, я́ко муж грі́шен єсьм, Го́споди.

But Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

У́жасъ бо одержа́ше єго́ і вся су́щия с ним, о лови́тві риб, я́же я́ша.

For he was amazed, and all that were with him, at the draft of the fish which they had taken;

Та́кожде же Іа́кова і Іоа́нна, си́на Зеведе́йова, я́же бі́ста обе́щника Си́монові. І рече́ к Си́мону Ісу́с: не бо́йся, отсе́лі бу́деши челові́ки лов'я́.

and so were also James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.

І ізвле́кше [о́ба] корабля́ на зе́млю, оста́вльше вся, вслід Єго́ ідо́ша.

And when they had brought their boats to land, they left all, and followed him.

(Зач. 18) І бисть єгда́ бі Ісу́с во єди́ном от градо́в, і се муж іспо́лнь прокаже́нія; і ви́дів Ісу́са, пад ниць, моля́ся Єму́, глаго́ля: Го́споди, а́ще хо́щеши, мо́жеши м'я очи́стити.

And it came to pass, while he was in one of the cities, behold, a man full of leprosy: and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

І просте́р ру́ку, косну́ся єго́, рек: хощу́, очи́стися; і а́біє прока́за оти́де от него́.

And he stretched forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou made clean. And straightaway the leprosy departed from him.

І Той запові́да єму́ ні кому́же пові́дати; но шед покажи́ся ієре́йові, і принеси́ о очище́нії твоє́м, я́коже повелі́ Моїсе́й, во свиді́тельство їм.

And he charged him to tell no man: but go thy way, and show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

Прохожда́ше же па́че сло́во о Нем; і схожда́хуся наро́ди мно́зі сли́шати і ціли́тися от Него́ от неду́г свої́х.

But so much the more went abroad the report concerning him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.

Той же бі отходя́ в пусти́ню і моля́ся.

But he withdrew himself in the deserts, and prayed.

(Зач. 19) І бисть во єди́н от дній, і Той бі учя́; і бі́ху сідя́ще фарисе́є і законоучи́теліє, і́же бі́ху пришли́ от вся́кия ве́сі Галиле́йськия, і Іуде́йськия, і Ієрусали́мськия; і си́ла Госпо́дня бі ісціля́ющи їх;

And it came to pass on one of those days, that he was teaching; and there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, who were come out of every village of Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.

і се му́жіє нося́ще на одрі́ челові́ка, і́же бі разсла́блен, і іска́ху внести́ єго́ і положи́ти пред Ним;

And behold, men bring on a bed a man that was palsied: and they sought to bring him in, and to lay him before him.

і не обрі́тше куді́ внести́ єго́ наро́да ра́ди, взлі́зше на храм, сквозі́ скуде́ли [кров скуде́льний] низві́сиша єго́ со одро́м на среду́ пред Ісу́са.

And not finding by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went up to the housetop, and let him down through the tiles with his couch into the midst before Jesus.

І ви́дів ві́ру їх, рече́ єму́: челові́че, оставля́ютьтіся грісі́ твої́.

And seeing their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

І нача́ша помишля́ти кни́жници і фарисе́є, глаго́люще: кто єсть сей, і́же глаго́леть хули́, кто мо́жеть оставля́ти гріхи́, то́кмо єди́н Бог?

And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this that speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

Разумі́в же Ісу́с помишле́нія їх, отвіща́в рече́ к ним: что помишля́єте в сердця́х ва́ших?

But Jesus perceiving their reasonings, answered and said unto them, Why reason ye in your hearts?

Что єсть удо́біє, рещи́: оставля́ютьтіся грісі́ твої́? Іли́ рещи́: воста́ни і ходи́?

Which is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Arise and walk?

Но да уві́сте, я́ко власть і́мать Син Челові́чеський на землі́ отпуща́ти гріхи́, (рече́ разсла́бленному:) Тебі́ глаго́лю: воста́ни і возьми́ одр твой, і іди́ в дом твой.

But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins (he said unto him that was palsied), I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go unto thy house.

І а́біє воста́в пред ни́ми, взем, на не́мже лежа́ше, і́де в дом свой, сла́в'я Бо́га.

And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his house, glorifying God.

І у́жас прия́т всіх, і сла́вляху Бо́га; і іспо́лнишася стра́ха, глаго́люще, я́ко ви́діхом пресла́вная днесь.

And amazement took hold on all, and they glorified God; and they were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things today.

(Зач. 20) І посе́мъ ізи́де, і узрі́ митаря́ і́менем Леві́ю, сідя́ща на ми́тниці, і рече́ єму́: іди́ по Мні.

And after these things he went forth, and beheld a publican, named Levi, sitting at the place of toll, and said unto him, Follow me.

І оста́вль вся, воста́в вослі́д Єго́ і́де.

And he forsook all, and rose up and followed him.

І сотвори́ учрежде́ніє ве́ліє Леві́й Єму́ в дому́ своє́м; і бі наро́д митаре́й мног, і іні́х, і́же бя́ху с ним возлежа́ще.

And Levi made him a great feast in his house: and there was a great multitude of publicans and of others that were sitting at meat with them.

І ропта́ху кни́жници на Него́ і фарисе́є, ко ученико́м Єго́ глаго́люще: почто́ с митарі́ і грі́шники я́сте і піє́те?

And their scribes and the Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with the publicans and sinners?

І отвіща́в Ісу́с рече́ к ним: не тре́бують здра́віі врача́, но боля́щії;

And Jesus answered and said unto them, They that are in health have no need of a physician; but they that are sick.

не прийдо́х призва́ти пра́ведних, но грі́шния в покая́ніє.

I am not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.

(Зач. 21) Они́ же рі́ша к Нему́: почто́ ученици́ Іоа́ннови постя́ться ча́сто і моли́тви творя́ть, та́кожде і фарисе́йстії, а Твої́ ядя́ть і пію́ть?

And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make supplications; likewise also the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink?

Он же рече́ к ним: єда́ мо́жете сини́ бра́чния, до́ндеже жени́х с ни́ми єсть, сотвори́ти пости́тися?

And he said unto them, Can ye make the sons of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?

При́йдуть же дні́є, єгда́ от'я́т бу́деть от них жени́х, і тогда́ постя́ться в ти́я дні.

But the days will come; and when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, then will they fast in those days.

Глаго́лаше же і при́тчу к ним, я́ко нікто́же приставле́нія ри́зи но́ви приставля́єть на ри́зу ве́тху; а́ще ли же ні, і но́вую раздере́ть, і ве́тсій не согласу́єть є́же от но́ваго.

And he spake also a parable unto them: No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old garment; else he rendeth the new, and also the piece from the new agreeth not with the old.

І нікто́же влива́єть вина́ но́ва в мі́хи ве́тхі; а́ще ли же ні, расто́ргнеть но́воє вино́ мі́хи, і само́ ізліє́ться, і мі́сі поги́бнуть;

And no man putteth new wine into old wineskins; else the new wine will burst the skins, and itself will be spilled, and the skins will perish.

но вино́ но́воє в мі́хи но́ви влива́ти [подоба́єть]; і обоя́ соблюду́ться.

But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins; and both are preserved.

І нікто́же пив ве́тхоє, а́біє хо́щеть но́ваго; глаго́леть бо: ве́тхоє лу́чше єсть.

And no man having drunk old wine straightaway desireth new; for he saith, The old is better.

(Зач. 22) Бисть же в субо́ту второпе́рвую іти́ Єму́ сквозі́ сі́янія; і восторга́ху ученици́ Єго́ кла́си, і ядя́ху, стира́юще рука́ми.

Now it came to pass on a second-first sabbath, that he was going through the grainfields; and his disciples plucked the ears, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.

Ні́ції же от фарисе́й рі́ша їм: что творите́, єго́же не досто́їть твори́ти в субо́ти?

But certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which it is not lawful to do on the sabbath day?

І отвіща́в Ісу́с рече́ к ним: ні ли сего́ чли єсте́, є́же сотвори́ Дави́д, єгда́ взалка́ся сам і і́же с ним бя́ху?

And Jesus answered them and said, Have ye not read even this, what David did, when he was hungry, he, and they that were with him;

ка́ко вни́де в дом Бо́жий, і хлі́би предложе́нія взем, і яде́, і даде́ і су́щим с ним, ї́хже не досто́яше я́сти, то́кмо єди́ним ієре́єм?

how he entered into the house of God, and took and ate the showbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat save for the priests alone?

І глаго́лаше їм, я́ко госпо́дь єсть Син Челові́чеський і субо́ті.

And he said unto them, The Son of man is lord even of the sabbath.

Бисть же і в другу́ю субо́ту вни́ти Єму́ в со́нмище і учи́ти; і бі та́мо челові́к, і рука́ єму́ десна́я бі суха́.

And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man there, and his right hand was withered.

Назира́ху же кни́жници і фарісе́ї, а́ще в субо́ту ісціли́ть, да обря́щуть річь Нань.

And the scribes and the Pharisees watched, whether he would heal on the sabbath; that they might find an accusation against him.

Он же ві́дяше помишле́нія їх, і рече́ челові́ку іму́щему су́ху ру́ку: воста́ни і ста́ни посреді́. Он же воста́в ста.

But he knew their thoughts; and he said to the man that had his hand withered, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.

Рече́ же Ісу́с к ним: вопрошу́ ви: что досто́їть в субо́ти, добро́ твори́ти, іли́ зло твори́ти? Ду́шу спасти́, іли́ погуби́ти? Они́ же умолча́ша.

Then Jesus said unto them, I will ask you something, Is it lawful on the sabbath to do good, or to do harm? to save a life, or to kill?

І воззрі́в на всіх їх, рече́ єму́: простри́ ру́ку твою́. Он же сотвори́ та́ко; і утверди́ся рука́ єго́ здра́ва, я́ко друга́я.

And he looked round about on them all, and said unto him, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

Они́ же іспо́лнишася безу́мія, і глаго́лаху друг ко дру́гу, что би́ша сотвори́ли Ісу́сові.

But they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.

(Зач. 23) Бисть же во дні ти́я, ізи́де в го́ру помоли́тися; і бі об нощ в моли́тві Бо́жії.

And it came to pass in these days, that he went out into the mountain to pray; and he continued all night in prayer to God.

І єгда́ бисть день, призва́ ученики́ своя́; і ізбра́ от них двана́десяте, ї́хже і апо́столи нарече́;

And when it was day, he called his disciples; and he chose from them twelve, whom also he named apostles:

Си́мона, єго́же іменова́ Петра́, і Андре́я, бра́та єго́, Іа́кова і Іоа́нна, Фили́ппа і Варфоломе́я,

Simon, whom he also named Peter, and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,

Матфе́я і Фому́, Іа́кова Алфе́єва і Симо́на нарица́ємаго Зило́та,

Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot,

Іу́ду Іа́ковля, і Іу́ду Іскаріо́тськаго, і́же і бисть преда́тель.

Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who also became a traitor;

(Зач 24) Ізше́д с ни́ми, ста на мі́сті ра́вні; і наро́д учени́к Єго́, і мно́жество мно́го люде́й от всея́ Іуде́ї і Ієрусали́ма і помо́рія Ти́рська і Сидо́нська,

and he came down with them, and stood on a level place, and a multitude of his disciples, and a great number of the people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;

і́же прийдо́ша послу́шати Єго́ і ісціли́тися от неду́г свої́х, і стра́ждущії от дух нечи́стих; і ісціля́хуся.

and they that were vexed by unclean spirits: and they were healed.

І весь наро́д іска́ше прикаса́тися Єму́; я́ко си́ла от Него́ ісхожда́ше і ісціля́ше вся.

And all the multitude sought to touch him; for power came forth from him, and healed them all.

І Той возве́д о́чі свої́ на ученики́ Своя́, глаго́лаше; блажлашні ни́щії ду́хом, я́ко ва́ше єсть Ца́рствіє Бо́жиє.

And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed are ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

Блаже́нні а́лчущії ни́ні, я́ко наси́титеся. Блаже́нні пла́чущії ни́ні, я́ко возсміє́теся.

Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.

Блаже́нні бу́дете, єгда́ возненави́дять вас челові́ци, і єгда́ разлуча́ть ви, і поно́сять, і пронесу́ть і́м'я ва́ше, я́ко зло, Си́на Челові́чеськаго ра́ди.

Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.

Возра́дуйтеся в той день і взигра́йте; се бо мзда ва́ша мно́га на небесі́. По сим бо творя́ху проро́ком отці́ їх.

Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy: for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for in the same manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

(Зач. 25) Оба́че го́ре вам, бога́тим, я́ко отстоїте́ утіше́нія ва́шего [я́ко восприє́млете утіше́ніє ва́ше].

But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

Го́ре вам, наси́щеннії ни́ні, я́ко вза́лчете. Го́ре вам, смію́щимся ни́ні, я́ко возрида́єте і воспла́чете.

Woe unto you, ye that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you, ye that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.

Го́ре, єгда́ до́брі реку́ть вам всі челові́ци, по сим бо творя́ху лжепроро́ком отці́ їх.

Woe, when men shall speak well of you! for in the same manner did their fathers to the false prophets.

Но вам глаго́лю, сли́шащим: любі́те враги́ ва́ша, добро́ творі́те ненави́дящим вас,

But I say unto you that hear, Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you,

благослові́те клену́щия ви, і молі́теся за творя́щих вам оби́ду.

bless them that curse you, pray for them that despitefully use you.

Бію́щему тя в лани́ту, пода́ждь і другу́ю; і от взима́ющаго ті ри́зу, і срачи́цю не возбрани́.

To him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and from him that taketh away thy cloak withhold not thy coat also.

Вся́кому же прося́щему у тебе́, дай; і от взима́ющаго твоя́, не істязу́й.

And give to everyone that asketh thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

(Зач. 26) І я́коже хо́щете да творя́ть вам челові́ци, і ви творі́те їм та́кожде.

And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

І а́ще лю́бите лю́б'ящия ви, ка́я вам благода́ть єсть? І́бо і грі́шници лю́б'ящия їх лю́б'ять.

And if ye love them that love you, what thank have ye? for even sinners love those that love them.

І а́ще благотворите́ благотворя́щим вам, ка́я вам благода́ть єсть? І́бо і грі́шници то́жде творя́ть.

And if ye do good to them that do good to you, what thank have ye? for even sinners do the same.

І а́ще взайм даєте́, от ни́хже ча́єте восприя́ти, ка́я вам благода́ть єсть, і́бо і грі́шници грі́шником взайм дава́ють, да воспри́ймуть ра́вная.

And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive back, what thank have ye? for even sinners lend to sinners, to receive again as much.

Оба́че любі́те враги́ ва́ша, і благотворі́те, і взайм да́йте, нічесо́же ча́юще; і бу́деть мзда ва́ша мно́га, і бу́дете си́нове Ви́шняго; я́ко Той благ єсть на безблагода́тния [неблагода́рния] і зли́я.

But love your enemies, and do them good, and lend, never despairing; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be sons of the Most High: for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil.

Бу́діте у́бо милосе́рді, я́коже і Оте́ць ваш милосе́рд єсть.

Be ye therefore merciful, even as your Father also is merciful.

(Зач. 27) І не суді́те, і не су́дять вам; (і) не осужда́йте, да не осужде́нні бу́дете; отпуща́йте, і отпу́стять вам;

And judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: release, and ye shall be released:

да́йте, і да́сться вам; мі́ру добру́, натка́ну і потря́сну і прелива́ющуся дадя́ть на ло́но ва́ше; то́ю бо мі́рою, є́юже мі́рите, возмі́риться вам.

give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall they give into your bosom. For with the same measure ye mete it shall be measured to you again.

Рече́ же при́тчу їм: єда́ мо́жеть сліпе́ць сліпця́ води́ти? Не о́ба ли в я́му впаде́тася?

And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind guide the blind? shall they not both fall into a pit?

Ність учени́к над учи́теля своєго́; соверше́н же всяк бу́деть, я́коже (і) учи́тель єго́.

The disciple is not above his teacher: but everyone when he is perfected shall be as his teacher.

Что же ви́диши суче́ць, і́же єсть во очесі́ бра́та твоєго́, бервна́ же, є́же єсть во очесі́ твоє́м, не чу́єши?

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Іли́ ка́ко мо́жеши рещи́ бра́ту твоєму́: бра́те, оста́ви, да ізму́ суче́ць, і́же єсть во очесі́ твоє́м, сам су́щаго во очесі́ твоє́м бервна́ не ви́дя? Лицемі́ре, ізми́ пе́рвіє бервно́ із очесе́ твоєго́, і тогда́ про́зриши із'я́ти суче́ць із очесе́ бра́та твоєго́.

Or how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me cast out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye.

Ність бо дре́во добро́, творя́ плода́ зла; ніже́ дре́во зло, творя́ плода́ добра́.

For there is no good tree that bringeth forth corrupt fruit; nor a corrupt tree that bringeth forth good fruit.

Вся́ко бо дре́во от плода́ своєго́ познає́ться; не от те́рнія бо че́шуть смо́кви, ні от купини́ є́млють гро́здія.

For each tree is known by its own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

Благи́й челові́к от блага́го сокро́вища се́рдця своєго́ ізно́сить благо́є; і злий челові́к от зла́го сокро́вища се́рдця своєго́ ізно́сить зло́є; от ізби́тка бо се́рдця глаго́лють уста́ єго́.

The good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

(Зач. 28) Что же М'я зовете́: Го́споди, Го́споди, і не творите́, я́же глаго́лю?

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Всяк гряди́й ко Мні і сли́шай словеса́ Моя́ і творя́ я, скажу́ вам, кому́ єсть подо́бен;

Everyone that cometh unto me, and heareth my words, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like:

подо́бен єсть челові́ку зи́ждущу хра́мину, і́же іскопа́ і углуби́, і положи́ основа́ніє на ка́мені; наводне́нію же би́вшу, припаде́ ріка́ ко хра́мині той, і не мо́же поколеба́ти єя́; основана́ бо бі на ка́мені.

he is like a man building a house, who dug and went deep, and laid a foundation upon the rock: and when a flood arose, the stream brake against that house, and could not shake it: for it had been founded upon the rock.

Сли́шавий же і не сотвори́вий подо́бен єсть челові́ку созда́вшему хра́мину на землі́ без основа́нія; к не́йже припаде́ ріка́, і а́біє паде́ся, і бисть разруше́ніє хра́мини тоя́ ве́ліє.

But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that built a house upon the earth without a foundation; against which the stream brake, and straightaway it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

Єгда́ же сконча́ вся глаго́ли Своя́ в слу́хи лю́дем, (Зач. 29) вни́де в Капернау́м.

Now when he had ended all his sayings in the ears of the people, he entered into Capernaum.

Со́тнику же ні́коєму раб боля́ злі, хотя́ше [імі́яше] умре́ти, і́же бі єму́ че́стен.

And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear unto him, was sick and at the point of death.

Сли́шав же о Ісу́сі, посла́ к Нему́ ста́рці іуде́йськия, моля́ Єго́, я́ко да прише́д спасе́ть раба́ єго́.

And when he heard concerning Jesus, he sent unto him elders of the Jews, asking him that he would come and save his servant.

Они́ же прише́дше ко Ісу́сові, моля́ху Єго́ то́щно, глаго́люще, я́ко досто́їн єсть, єму́же да́си сіє́;

And they, when they came to Jesus, besought him earnestly, saying, He is worthy that thou shouldest do this for him;

лю́бить бо язи́к наш, і со́нмище той созда́ нам.

for he loveth our nation, and himself built us our synagogue.

Ісу́с же ідя́ше с ни́ми. І уже́ Єму́ не дале́че су́щу от хра́мини, посла́ к Нему́ со́тник дру́ги, глаго́ля Єму́: Го́споди, не дви́жися; нісьм бо досто́їн, да под кров мой вни́деши;

And Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself; for I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof:

ті́мже ні себе́ досто́йна сотвори́х прийти́ к Тебі́; но рци сло́во, і ісцілі́єть о́трок мой;

wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say the word, and my servant shall be healed.

і́бо і аз челові́к єсьм под влади́кою учине́н, імі́я под собо́ю во́їни; і глаго́лю сему́: іди́, і іде́ть; і друго́му: прийди́, і при́йдеть; і рабу́ моєму́: сотвори́ сіє́, і сотвори́ть.

For I also am a man set under authority, having under myself soldiers: and I say to this one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

Сли́шав же сія́ Ісу́с, чуди́ся єму́, і, обра́щся іду́щему по нем наро́ду, рече́: глаго́лю вам, ні во Ізра́їлі толи́ки ві́ри обріто́х.

And when Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned and said unto the multitude that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

І возвра́щшеся по́сланії обріто́ша боля́щаго раба́ ісцілі́вша.

And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.

(Зач. 30) І бисть посе́м, ідя́ше во град, нарица́ємий Наї́н; і с Ним ідя́ху ученици́ Єго́ мно́зі і наро́д мног.

And it came to pass on the next day, that he went to a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and a great multitude.

Я́коже прибли́жися ко врато́м гра́да, і се ізноша́ху уме́рша, си́на єдоноро́дна ма́тері своє́й, і та бі вдова́; і наро́д от гра́да мног с не́ю.

Now when he drew near to the gate of the city, behold, there was carried out one that was dead, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.

І ви́дів ю Госпо́дь, милосе́рдова о ней, і рече́ єй: не пла́чи.

And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.

І присту́пль косну́ся во одр; нося́щії же ста́ша; і рече́: ю́ноше, тебі́ глаго́лю, воста́ни!

And he came nigh and touched the bier: and the bearers stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.

І сі́де ме́ртвий, і нача́т глаго́лати; і даде́ єго́ ма́тері єго́.

And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he gave him to his mother.

Прия́т же страх всіх, і сла́вляху Бо́га, глаго́люще: я́ко проро́к ве́лій воста́ в нас, і я́ко посіти́ Бог люде́й свої́х.

And fear took hold on all: and they glorified God, saying, A great prophet is arisen among us: and, God hath visited his people.

(Зач. 31) І ізи́де сло́во сіє́ по всей Іуде́ї о Нем і по всей страні́.

And this report went forth concerning him in the whole of Judea, and in all the region round about.

І возвісти́ша Іоа́нну ученици́ єго́ о всіх сих.

And the disciples of John told him of all these things.

І призва́в два ні́кая от учени́к свої́х Іоа́нн, посла́ ко Ісу́су, глаго́ля: Ти ли єси́ Гряди́й, іли́ іно́го ча́єм?

And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that cometh, or look we for another?

Прише́дша же к Нему́ му́жа рі́ста: Іоа́нн Крести́тель посла́ нас к Тебі́, глаго́ля: Ти ли єси́ Гряди́й, іли́ іно́го ча́єм?

And when the men were come unto him, they said, John the Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that cometh, or look we for another?

В той же час ісціли́ мно́гі от неду́г і ран і дух злих, і мно́гим сліпи́м дарова́ прозрі́ніє.

And in that same hour he cured many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits; and on many that were blind he bestowed sight.

І отвіща́в Ісу́с рече́ ї́ма: ше́дша возвісти́та Іоа́нну, я́же ви́діста і сли́шаста: я́ко сліпі́ї прозира́ють, хро́мії хо́дять, прокаже́ннії очища́ються, глусі́ї сли́шать, ме́ртвії востаю́ть, ни́щії благовіству́ють;

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and tell John the things which ye have seen and heard; that the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have good tidings preached to them.

і блаже́н єсть, і́же а́ще не соблазни́ться о Мні.

And blessed is he, whosoever shall find no occasion of stumbling in me.

Отше́дшема же ученико́ма Іоа́нновома, нача́т глаго́лати к наро́дом о Іоа́нні: чесо́ ізидо́сте в пусти́ню ви́діти, трость ли ві́тром коле́блему?

And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to behold? a reed shaken with the wind?

Но чесо́ ізидо́сте ви́діти? Челові́ка ли в м'я́гкі ри́зи оді́яна? Се, і́же во оде́жді сла́вній і пи́щі су́щії, во ца́рствії [во дво́ріх ца́рських] суть.

But what went ye out to see? a man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that are gorgeously appareled, and live delicately, are in kings’ courts.

Но чесо́ ізидо́сте ви́діти? Проро́ка ли? Єй, глаго́лю вам, і ли́шше проро́ка.

But what went ye out to see? a prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.

Сей (бо) єсть, о не́мже пи́сано єсть: се Аз послю́ а́нгела Моєго́ пред лице́м Твої́м, і́же устро́їть путь Твой пред Тобо́ю.

This is he of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Who shall prepare thy way before thee.

Глаго́лю бо вам: бо́лій в рожде́нних жена́ми проро́ка Іоа́нна Крести́теля нікто́же єсть; мній же во Ца́рствії Бо́жиї бо́лії єго́ єсть.

For I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: yet he that is but little in the kingdom of God is greater than he.

І всі лю́діє сли́шавше і ми́таріє, оправди́ша Бо́га, кре́щшеся креще́нієм Іоа́нновим;

And all the people when they heard, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.

фарисе́є же і зако́нници сові́т Бо́жий отверго́ша о себі́, не кре́щшеся от него́.

But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected for themselves the counsel of God, being not baptized of him.

(Зач. 32) Рече́ же Госпо́дь: кому́ у́бо уподо́блю челові́ки ро́да сего́, і кому́ суть подо́бні?

Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation, and to what are they like?

Подо́бні суть о́трочищем сідя́щим на то́ржищих і приглаша́ющим друг дру́га, і глаго́лющим: писка́хом вам, і не пляса́сте; рида́хом вам, і не пла́касте.

They are like unto children that sit in the marketplace, and call one to another, and say, We piped unto you, and ye did not dance; we wailed unto you, and ye did not weep.

При́йде бо Іоа́нн Крести́тель ні хлі́ба яди́й, ні вина́ пія́, і глаго́лете: бі́ся і́мать.

For John the Baptist is come eating no bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a demon.

При́йде Син Челові́чеський яди́й і пія́, і глаго́лете: сей челові́к я́дця і винопи́йця, друг митаре́м і грі́шником.

The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold, a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!

І оправди́ся прему́дрость от чад свої́х всіх.

And wisdom is justified of all her children.

(Зач. 33) Моля́ше же Єго́ ні́кий от фарисе́й, да би ял с Ним; і вшед в дом фарисе́йов, возлеже́.

And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he entered into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to meat.

І се жена́ во гра́ді, я́же бі грі́шниця, і уві́дівши, я́ко возлежи́ть во хра́мині фарисе́йові, прине́сши алава́стр ми́ра,

And behold, a woman in the city, who was a sinner, when she knew that he was sitting at meat in the Pharisee’s house, she brought an alabaster cruse of ointment,

і ста́вши при ногу́ Єго́ созади́, пла́чущися, нача́т умива́ти но́зі Єго́ слеза́ми, і власи́ глави́ своєя́ отира́ше, і облобиза́ше но́зі Єго́, і ма́заше ми́ром.

and standing at his feet behind him, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

Ви́дів же фарисе́й воззва́вий Єго́, рече́ в себі́, глаго́ля: Сей, а́ще би бил проро́к, ві́діл би кто і какова́ жена́ прикаса́ється Єму́; я́ко грі́шниця єсть.

Now when the Pharisee that had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him, that she is a sinner.

І отвіща́в Ісу́с рече́ к нему́: Си́моне, і́мам ті ні́что рещи́. Он же рече́: Учи́телю, рци.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Teacher, say on.

Ісу́с же рече́: два должника́ бі́ста займода́вцю ні́коєму; єди́н бі до́лжен п'ятію́сот дина́рії, други́й же п'ятію́десят;

A certain lender had two debtors: the one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.

не іму́щема же ї́ма возда́ти, обі́ма отда́ [оста́ви]. Кото́рий у́бо єю́, рци, па́че возлю́бить єго́?

And when they had not wherewith to pay, he forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?

Отвіща́в же Си́мон рече́: мню, я́ко єму́же в'я́щше отда́ [оста́ви]. Он же рече́ єму́: пра́во суди́л єси́.

And Simon answered and said, He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.

І обра́щся к жені́, Си́монові рече́: ви́диши ли сію́ жену́? Внидо́х в дом твой, води́ на но́зі Мої́ не дал єси́; сія́ же слеза́ми облія́ Мі но́зі і власи́ глави́ своєя́ отре́.

And turning to the woman, he said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thy house, thou gavest no water for my feet: but she hath wetted my feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head.

Лобза́нія Мі не дал єси́; сія́ же, отне́лиже внидо́х, не преста́ облобиза́ющи Мі но́зі.

Thou gavest me no kiss: but she, since the time I came in, hath not ceased to kiss my feet.

Ма́слом глави́ Моєя́ не пома́зал єси́; сія́ же ми́ром пома́за Мі но́зі.

My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but she hath anointed my feet with ointment.

Єго́же ра́ди, глаго́лю ті: отпуща́ються грісі́ єя́ мно́зі, я́ко возлюби́ мно́го; а єму́же ма́ло оставля́ється, ме́нше лю́бить.

Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

Рече́ же єй: отпуща́ються тебі́ грісі́.

And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.

І нача́ша возлежа́щії с Ним глаго́лати в себі́: кто Сей єсть, І́же і гріхи́ отпуща́єть?

And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that even forgiveth sins?

Рече́ же к жені́: ві́ра твоя́ спасе́ тя; іди́ в ми́рі.

And he said unto the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

(Зач. 34) І бисть посе́м, і Той прохожда́ше сквозі́ гра́ди і ве́сі, пропові́дуя і благовіству́я Ца́рствіє Бо́жиє; і обана́десяте с Ним,

And it came to pass soon afterward, that he went about through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good tidings of the kingdom of God, and with him the twelve,

і жени́ ні́кия, я́же бя́ху ісці́лени от духо́в злих і неду́г; Марі́я нарица́ємая Магдали́на, із нея́же бісо́в седьм ізи́де,

and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary that was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,

і Іоа́нна, жена́ Хуза́ня, приста́вника І́родова, і Суса́нна, і і́ни мно́гі, я́же служа́ху Єму́ от імі́ній свої́х.

and Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others, who ministered unto them of their substance.

Разуміва́ющу же наро́ду мно́гу, і от всіх градо́в гряду́щим к Нему́, рече́ при́тчу:

And when a great multitude came together, and they of every city resorted unto him, he spake by a parable:

(Зач. 35) ізи́де сі́яй сі́яти сі́мене своєго́; і єгда́ сі́яше, о́во паде́ при путі́, і попра́но бисть, і пти́ці небе́сния позоба́ша є;

The sower went forth to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trodden under foot, and the birds of the heaven devoured it.

а друго́є паде́ на ка́мені, і прозя́б у́сше, зане́ не імі́яше вла́ги;

And other fell on the rock; and as soon as it grew, it withered away, because it had no moisture.

і друго́є паде́ посреді́ те́рнія, і возрасте́ те́рніє, і подави́ є;

And other fell amidst the thorns; and the thorns grew with it, and choked it.

друго́є же паде́ на землі́ бла́зі, і прозя́б сотвори́ плод стори́цею. Сія́ глаго́ля, возгласи́: імі́яй у́ші сли́шати да сли́шить.

And other fell into the good ground, and grew, and brought forth fruit a hundredfold. As he said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Вопроша́ху же Єго́ ученици́ Єго́, глаго́люще: что єсть при́тча сія́?

And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?

Он же рече́: вам єсть дано́ ві́дати та́йни Ца́рствія Бо́жия, про́чим же в при́тчах, да ви́дяще не ви́дять і сли́шаще не разумі́ють.

And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to the rest in parables; that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.

Єсть же сія́ при́тча: сі́м'я єсть сло́во Бо́жиє;

Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

а і́же при путі́, суть сли́шащії, пото́м же прихо́дить дия́вол і взе́млеть сло́во от се́рдця їх, да не ві́ровавше спасу́ться;

And those by the wayside are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved.

а і́же на ка́мені, і́же єгда́ усли́шать, с ра́достію приє́млють сло́во; і сії́ ко́рене не і́муть, і́же во вре́м'я ві́рують, і во вре́м'я напа́сти отпада́ють;

And those on the rock are they who, when they have heard, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

а є́же в те́рнії па́дшеє, сі́ї суть сли́шавшії, і от печа́лі і бога́тства і сластьми́ жите́йскими ходя́ще подавля́ються, і не соверша́ють плода́;

And that which fell among the thorns, these are they that have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

а і́же на до́брій землі́, сі́ї суть, і́же до́брим се́рдцем і благи́м сли́шавше сло́во, держа́ть і плод творя́ть в терпі́нії. Сія́ глаго́ля, возгласи́: імі́яй у́ші сли́шати да сли́шить.

And that in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it fast, and bring forth fruit with patience.

(Зач. 36) Нікто́же (у́бо) світи́льника вжег, покрива́єть єго́ сосу́дом, іли́ под одр подлага́єть, но на сві́щник возлага́єть, да входя́щії ви́дять світ.

And no man, when he hath lighted a lamp, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but putteth it on a stand, that they that enter in may see the light.

Ність бо та́йно, є́же не я́влено бу́деть, ніже́ утає́но, є́же не позна́ється і в явле́ніє при́йдеть.

For nothing is hidden, that shall not be made manifest; nor anything secret, that shall not be known and come to light.

Блюді́теся у́бо, ка́ко сли́шите: і́же бо і́мать, да́сться єму́; і і́же а́ще не і́мать, і є́же мни́ться імі́я, во́зметься от него́.

Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that which he thinketh he hath.

Прийдо́ша же к Нему́ Ма́ти і бра́тія Єго́, і не можа́ху бесі́довати к Нему́ наро́да ра́ди.

And there came to him his mother and brethren, and they could not come at him for the crowd.

І возвісти́ша Єму́, глаго́люще: Ма́ти Твоя́ і бра́тія Твоя́ вні стоя́ть, ви́діти Тя хотя́ще.

And it was told him, saying, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.

Он же отвіща́в рече́ к ним: ма́ти Моя́ і бра́тія Моя́ сі́ї суть, сли́шащії сло́во Бо́жиє, і творя́щії є.

But he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these that hear the word of God, and do it.

(Зач. 37) І бисть во єди́н от дній, Той влі́зе в кора́бль і ученици́ Єго́; і рече́ к ним: пре́йдем на он пол є́зера. І пойдо́ша.

And it came to pass on one of those days, that he entered into a boat, himself and his disciples; and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake: and they launched forth.

Іду́щим же їм, у́спе. І сни́де бу́ря ві́треная в є́зеро, і скончава́хуся, і в біді́ бі́ху.

But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filling with water, and were in jeopardy.

І присту́пльше воздвиго́ша Єго́, глаго́люще: Наста́вниче! Наста́вниче, погиба́єм! Он же воста́в запрети́ ві́тру і волне́нію во́дному; і улего́ста, і бисть тишина́.

And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. And he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.

Рече́ же їм: гді єсть ві́ра ва́ша? Убоя́вшеся же чуди́шася, глаго́люще друг ко дру́гу: Кто у́бо Сей єсть, я́ко і ві́тром повеліва́єть і воді́, і послу́шають Єго́?

And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And being afraid they marveled, saying one to another, Who then is this, that he commandeth even the winds and the water, and they obey him?

(Зач. 38) І прейдо́ша во страну́ Гадари́нську, я́же єсть об он пол Галиле́ї.

And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.

Ізше́дшу же Єму́ на зе́млю, срі́те єго́ муж ні́кий от гра́да, і́же ім'я́ше бі́си от літ мно́гих, і в ри́зу не облача́шеся, і во хра́мі не жив'я́ше, но во гробі́х.

And when he was come forth upon the land, there met him a certain man out of the city, who had demons for a long time, and ware no clothes, and abode not in any house, but in the tombs.

Узрі́в же Ісу́са і возопи́в, припаде́ к Нему́, і гла́сом ве́ліїм рече́: что мні і Тебі́, Ісу́се, Си́не Бо́га Ви́шняго? Молю́ся Ті, не му́чи мене́.

And when he saw Jesus, he also cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I beseech thee, torment me not.

Повелі́ бо ду́хові нечи́стому ізи́ти от челові́ка; от мно́гих бо літ восхища́ше єго́; і в'я́заху єго́ у́зи (желі́зни) і пу́ти, стрегу́ще єго́; і растерза́я у́зи, гони́м бива́ше бі́сом сквозі́ пусти́ні.

For he was commanding the unclean spirit to come out from the man. For oftentimes it had seized him: and he was kept under guard, and bound with chains and fetters; and breaking the bands asunder, he was driven of the demon into the deserts.

Вопроси́ же єго́ Ісу́с, глаго́ля: что Ті єсть і́м'я? Он же рече́: легео́н; я́ко бі́си мно́зі внидо́ша вонь.

And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion; for many demons were entered into him.

І моля́ху єго́, да не повели́ть їм в бе́здну іти́.

And they entreated him that he would not command them to depart into the abyss.

Бі же ту ста́до свине́й мно́го пасо́мо в горі́; і моля́ху Єго́, да повели́ть їм в ти вни́ти. І повелі́ їм.

Now there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they entreated him that he would give them leave to enter into them. And he gave them leave.

Ізше́дше же бі́си от челові́ка, внидо́ша во свинія́; і устреми́ся ста́до по бре́гу в є́зеро, і істопе́.

And the demons came out from the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd rushed down the steep into the lake, and were drowned.

Ви́дівше же пасу́щії би́вшеє, біжа́ша, і возвісти́ша во гра́ді і в се́ліх.

And when they that fed them saw what had come to pass, they fled, and told it in the city and in the country.

Ізидо́ша же ви́діти би́вшеє; і прийдо́ша ко Ісу́сові і обріто́ша челові́ка сідя́ща, із него́же бі́си ізидо́ша, оболче́на і сми́сляща, при ногу́ Ісу́сову; і убоя́шася.

And they went out to see what had come to pass; and they came to Jesus, and found the man, from whom the demons were gone out, sitting, clothed and in his right mind, at the feet of Jesus: and they were afraid.

Возвісти́ша же їм ви́дівшії, ка́ко спасе́ся біснова́вийся.

And they also that saw it told them how he that was possessed with demons was made whole.

І моли́ Єго́ весь наро́д страни́ Гадари́нськия отити́ от них, я́ко стра́хом ве́ліїм одержи́ми бі́ху. Он же вліз в кора́бль, возврати́ся.

And all the people of the country of the Gadarenes round about asked him to depart from them; for they were holden with great fear: and he entered into the boat, and returned.

Моля́шеся же Єму́ муж, із него́же ізидо́ша бі́си, да би с Ним бил. Отпусти́ же єго́ Ісу́с, глаго́ля:

But the man from whom the demons were gone out prayed him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying,

возврати́ся в дом твой і пові́дай, єли́ка Ті сотвори́ Бог. І і́де, по всему́ гра́ду пропові́дая, єли́ка сотвори́ єму́ Ісу́с.

Return to thy house, and declare how great things God hath done for thee. And he went his way, publishing throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done for him.

(Зач. 39) Бисть же єгда́ возврати́ся Ісу́с, прия́т єго́ наро́д; бі́ху бо всі ча́юще Єго́.

And it came to pass when Jesus returned, the multitude welcomed him; for they were all waiting for him.

І се при́йде муж, єму́же і́м'я Іаї́р, і той князь со́нмищу бі. І пад при ногу́ Ісу́сову, моля́ше Єго́ вни́ти в дом свой;

And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus’ feet, and besought him to come into his house;

я́ко дщи єдоноро́дна бі єму́, я́ко літ двоюна́десяте, і та умира́ше. Єгда́ же ідя́ше, наро́ди угніта́ху Єго́.

for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. But as he went the multitudes thronged him.

І жена́ су́щи в точе́нії кро́ве от двоюна́десяте лі́ту, я́же враче́м ізда́вши все імі́ніє, (і) не возмо́же ні от єди́наго ісцілі́ти;

And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, who had spent all her living upon physicians, and could not be healed of any,

(і) присту́пльши созади́, косну́ся кра́я риз Єго́; і а́біє ста ток кро́ве єя́.

came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately the issue of her blood staunched.

І рече́ Ісу́с: кто єсть косну́вийся Мні? Отмета́ющимся же всім, рече́ Петр і і́же с Ним: Наста́вниче, наро́ди одержа́ть Тя і гніту́ть, і глаго́леши: кто єсть косну́вийся Мні?

And Jesus said, Who is it that touched me? And when all denied, Peter said, and they that were with him, Master, the multitudes press thee and crush thee, and sayest thou, Who is it that touched me?

Ісу́с же рече́: прикосну́ся Мні ні́кто; Аз бо чух си́лу ізше́дшую із Мене́.

But Jesus said, Someone did touch me; for I perceived that power had gone forth from me.

Ви́дівши же жена́, я́ко не утаї́ся, трепе́щущи при́йде, і па́дши пред Ним, єя́же ра́ди вини́ прикосну́ся Єму́, пові́да Єму́ пред всі́ми людьми́, і я́ко ісцілі́ а́біє.

And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared unto him in the presence of all the people for what cause she touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

Он же рече́ єй: дерза́й дщи, ві́ра твоя́ спасе́ тя; іди́ в ми́рі.

And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good cheer: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

Єще́ Єму́ глаго́лющу, при́йде ні́кий от архісинаго́га, глаго́ля єму́, я́ко у́мре дщи твоя́; не дви́жи Учи́теля.

While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Teacher.

Ісу́с же сли́шав отвіща́ єму́, глаго́ля: не бо́йся, то́кмо ві́руй, і спасе́на бу́деть.

But Jesus hearing it, answered him, saying, Fear not: only believe, and she shall be made whole.

Прише́д же в дом, не оста́ви ні єди́наго вни́ти, то́кмо Петра́, і Іоа́нна, і Іа́кова, і отця́ отрокови́ці, і ма́тере.

And when he came to the house, he suffered no man to enter in, save Peter, and John, and James, and the father of the maiden and her mother.

Пла́кахуся же всі і рида́ху єя́. Он же рече́: не пла́чітеся; не у́мре (бо), но спить.

And all were weeping, and bewailing her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.

І руга́хуся Єму́, ві́дяще, я́ко у́мре.

And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.

Он же ізгна́в вон всіх, і єм за ру́ку єя́, возгласи́, глаго́ля: отрокови́це, воста́ни.

But he, putting them all out and taking her by the hand, called, saying, Maiden, arise.

І возврати́ся дух єя́, і воскре́се а́біє; і повелі́ да́ти єй я́сти.

And her spirit returned, and she rose up immediately: and he commanded that something be given her to eat.

І диви́стася роди́теля єя́. Он же повелі́ ї́ма нікому́же пові́дати би́вшаго.

And her parents were amazed: but he charged them to tell no man what had been done.

(Зач. 40) Созва́в же обана́десяте, даде́ їм си́лу і власть на вся бі́си, і неду́ги ціли́ти;

And he called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.

і посла́ їх пропові́дати Ца́рствіє Бо́жиє і ісціли́ти боля́щия.

And he sent them forth to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

І рече́ к ним: нічесо́же возьмі́те на путь: ні жезла́, ні пи́ри, ні хлі́ба, ні сребра́, ні по двіма́ ри́зама імі́ти;

And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor wallet, nor bread, nor money; neither have two coats apiece.

і в о́ньже дом вни́дете, ту пребива́йте і отту́ду ісході́те;

And into whatsoever house ye enter, there abide, and thence depart.

і єли́ці а́ще не приє́млють вас, ісходя́ще от гра́да того́, і прах от ног ва́ших оттрясі́те, во свиді́тельство на ня.

And as many as will not receive you, when ye depart from that city, shake off even the dust from your feet for a testimony against them.

Ісходя́ще же прохожда́ху сквозі́ ве́сі, благовіству́юще і ісціля́юще всю́ду.

And they departed, and went throughout the villages, preaching the gospel, and healing everywhere.

(Зач. 41) Сли́ша же І́род четвертовла́стник бива́ющая от Него́ вся і недоуміва́шеся; зане́ глаго́лемо бі от ні́ких, я́ко Іоа́нн воста́ от ме́ртвих;

Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was much perplexed, because that it was said by some, that John was risen from the dead;

от іні́х же, я́ко Ілія́ яви́ся; от други́х же, я́ко проро́к єди́н от дре́вніх воскре́се.

and by some, that Elijah had appeared; and by others, that one of the old prophets was risen again.

І рече́ І́род: Іоа́нна аз усі́кнух; кто же єсть Сей, о Не́мже аз сли́шу такова́я? І іска́ше ви́діти Єго́.

And Herod said, John I beheaded: but who is this, about whom I hear such things? And he sought to see him.

І возвра́щшеся апо́столи пові́даша Єму́, єли́ка сотвори́ша; і пої́м їх, оти́де єди́н [осо́б] на мі́сто пу́сто гра́да, нарица́ємаго Вифсаї́да.

And the apostles, when they were returned, declared unto him what things they had done. And he took them, and withdrew apart to a desert place of a city called Bethsaida.

Наро́ди же разумі́вше, по Нем ідо́ша; і приє́м їх, глаго́лаше їм о Ца́рствії Бо́жиї і тре́бующия ісціле́нія ціля́ше.

But the multitudes perceiving it followed him: and he received them, and spake to them of the kingdom of God, and them that had need of healing he cured.

День же нача́т прекланя́тися. (Зач. 42) Присту́пльше же обана́десяте реко́ша Єму́: отпусти́ наро́д, да ше́дше во окре́стния ве́сі і се́ла вита́ють і обря́щуть бра́шно; я́ко зді в пу́сті мі́сті єсьми́.

And the day began to wear away; and the twelve came, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages and the country round about, and lodge, and get provisions: for we are here in a desert place.

Рече́ же к ним: даді́те їм ви я́сти. Они́ же рі́ша: ність у нас в'я́щше, то́кмо п'ять хліб і ри́бі дві, а́ще у́бо не ше́дше ми ку́пим во вся лю́ди сія́ бра́шна.

But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more than five loaves and two fish; except we should go and buy food for all this people.

Бі́ху бо муже́й я́ко п'ять ти́сящ. Рече́ же ко ученико́м Свої́м: посаді́те їх на ку́пи по пяти́десят.

For they were about five thousand men. And he said unto his disciples, Make them sit down in companies by fifties.

І сотвори́ша та́ко і посади́ша їх вся.

And they did so, and made them all sit down.

Приї́м же п'ять хліб і о́бі ри́бі, воззрі́в на не́бо, благослови́ їх, і преломи́, і дая́ше ученико́м предложи́ти наро́ду.

And he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake; and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.

І ядо́ша і наси́тишася всі; і взя́ша ізби́вшия їм укру́хи ко́ша двана́десяте.

And they ate, and were all filled: and there was taken up that which remained over to them of broken pieces, twelve baskets.

(Зач. 43) І бисть єгда́ моля́шеся єди́н, с Ним бі́ху ученици́; і вопроси́ їх, глаго́ля: кого́ М'я глаго́лють наро́ди би́ти?

And it came to pass, as he was praying apart, the disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Who do the multitudes say that I am?

Они́ же отвіща́вше рі́ша: Іоа́нна Крести́теля, іні́ї же Ілію́, друзі́ї же, я́ко проро́к ні́кий от дре́вніх воскре́се.

And they answered and said, John the Baptist; but others say, Elijah; and others, that one of the old prophets is risen again.

Рече́ же їм: ви же кого́ М'я глаго́лете би́ти? Отвіща́в же Петр рече́: Христа́ Бо́жия.

And he said unto them, But who say ye that I am? And Peter answered and said, The Christ of God.

Он же запре́щ їм, повелі́ нікому́же глаго́лати сего́,

But he charged them, and commanded them to tell this to no man;

рек, я́ко подоба́єть Си́ну Челові́чеському мно́го пострада́ти, і іскуше́ну [отве́ржену] би́ти от ста́рець, і архієре́й, і кни́жник, і убіє́ну би́ти, і в тре́тій день воста́ти.

saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.

(Зач. 44) Глаго́лаше же ко всім: а́ще кто хо́щеть по Мні іти́, да отве́ржеться себе́, і во́зьметь крест свой, і послі́дуєть Мі.

And he said unto all, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

І́же бо а́ще хо́щеть ду́шу свою́ спасти́, погу́бить ю, а і́же погу́бить ду́шу свою́ Мене́ ра́ди, сей спасе́ть ю.

For whosoever would save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

Что бо по́льзи і́мать челові́к, приобрі́т мир весь, себе́ же погуби́в іли́ оттщети́в?

For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose or forfeit his own self?

І́же бо а́ще постиди́ться Мене́ і Мої́х слове́с, сего́ Син Челові́чеський постиди́ться, єгда́ при́йдеть во сла́ві Своє́й і О́тчей і святи́х а́нгел.

For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in his own glory, and the glory of the Father, and of the holy angels.

Глаго́лю же вам воі́стину: суть ні́ції от зде стоя́щих, і́же не і́муть вкуси́ти сме́рти, до́ндеже ви́дять Ца́рствіє Бо́жиє.

But I tell you of a truth, There are some of them that stand here, who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.

(Зач. 40) Бисть же по словесі́х сих я́ко дній осьм, і поє́м Петра́, і Іоа́нна, і Іа́кова, взи́де на гору́ помоли́тися.

And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings, that he took with him Peter and John and James, and went up into the mountain to pray.

І бисть єгда́ моля́шеся, виді́ніє лиця́ Єго́ і́но, і одія́ніє Єго́ біло́ блиста́яся.

And as he was praying, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment became white and dazzling.

І се му́жа два с Ним глаго́люща, я́же бі́ста Моїсе́й і Ілія́,

And behold, there talked with him two men, who were Moses and Elijah;

я́вльшася во сла́ві, глаго́ласта же ісхо́д Єго́, єго́же хотя́ше сконча́ти во Ієрусали́мі.

who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.

Петр же і су́щії с ним бя́ху отягче́ні сном; убу́ждшеся же ви́діша сла́ву Єго́, і о́ба му́жа стоя́ща с Ним.

Now Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: but when they were fully awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.

І бисть єгда́ разлучи́стася от Него́, рече́ Петр ко Ісу́су: Наста́вниче, добро́ єсть нам зді би́ти; і сотвори́м сі́ні три: єди́ну Тебі́, і єди́ну Моїсе́йові, і єди́ну Ілії́, — не ві́дий, є́же глаго́лаше.

And it came to pass, as they were parting from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah: not knowing what he said.

Се же єму́ глаго́лющу, бисть о́блак, і осіни́ їх; убоя́шася же, вше́дше во о́блак.

And while he said these things, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.

І глас бисть із о́блака, глаго́ля: Сей єсть Син Мой Возлю́бленний, Того́ послу́шайте.

And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear ye him.

І єгда́ бисть глас, обрі́теся Ісу́с єди́н. І ті́ї умолча́ша і нікому́же возвісти́ша в ти́я дні нічесо́же от тіх, я́же ви́діша.

And when the voice came, Jesus was found alone. And they held their peace, and told no man in those days any of the things which they had seen.

(Зач. 46) Бисть же в про́чий день, сше́дшим їм с гори́, срі́те Єго́ наро́д мног.

And it came to pass, on the next day, when they were come down from the mountain, a great multitude met him.

І се муж із наро́да возопи́, глаго́ля: Учи́телю, молю́тіся, при́зри на си́на моєго́, я́ко єдиноро́ден мі єсть:

And behold, a man from the multitude cried out, saying, Teacher, I beseech thee to look upon my son; for he is mine only child:

і се дух є́млет єго́, і внеза́пу вопіє́ть, і пружа́ється [терза́єть Єго́] с пі́нами, і єдва́ отхо́дить от него́, сокруша́я єго́;

and behold, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth, and it hardly departeth from him, bruising him sorely.

і моли́хся ученико́м Твої́м, да іждену́ть єго́; і не возмого́ша.

And I besought thy disciples to cast it out; and they could not.

Отвіща́в же Ісу́с рече́: о, ро́де неві́рний і развраще́нний! Доко́лі бу́ду в вас і терплю́ ви? Приведи́ [Мі] си́на твоєго́ сі́мо.

And Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and bear with you? bring thy son hither.

Єще́ же гряду́щу єму́, пове́рже єго́ біс і стрясе́. Запрети́ же Ісу́с ду́хові нечи́стому, і ісціли́ о́трока, і вдаде́ єго́ отцю́ єго́.

And as he was yet a coming, the demon dashed him down, and tare him grievously. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.

Дивля́хуся же всі о вели́чіі Бо́жиї. (Зач. 47) Всім же чудя́щимся о всіх, я́же творя́ше Ісу́с, рече́ ко ученико́м Свої́м:

And they were all astonished at the majesty of God. But while all were marveling at all the things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples,

вложі́те ви во у́ші ва́ші словеса́ сія́: Син бо Челові́чеський і́мать преда́тися в ру́ці челові́честі.

Let these words sink into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered up into the hands of men.

Они́ же не разумі́ша глаго́ла сего́, бі бо прикрове́н от них, да не ощутя́т єго́; і боя́хуся вопроси́ти Єго́ о глаго́лі сем.

But they understood not this saying, and it was concealed from them, that they should not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.

Вни́де же помишле́ніє в них — кто їх в'я́щший би бил.

And there arose a reasoning among them, which of them was the greatest.

Ісу́с же ві́дий помишле́ніє серде́ць їх, приє́м отроча́, поста́ви є у Себе́

But when Jesus saw the reasoning of their heart, he took a little child, and set him by his side,

і рече́ їм: і́же а́ще при́йметь сіє́ отроча́ во і́м'я Моє́, Мене́ приє́млеть; і і́же а́ще Мене́ приє́млеть, приє́млеть Посла́вшаго М'я; і́же бо ме́нший єсть в вас, сей єсть вели́к.

and said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this little child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.

(Зач. 48) Отвіща́в же Іоа́нн рече́: Наста́вниче, ви́діхом ні́коєго о і́мені Твоє́м ізгоня́ща бі́си, і возбрани́хом єму́, я́ко вослі́д не хо́дить с на́ми.

And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out demons in thy name; and we forbade him, because he followeth not with us.

І рече́ к нему́ Ісу́с: не брані́те; і́же бо ність на ви, по вас єсть.

And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.

(Зач.) Бисть же єгда́ скончава́хуся дні́є восхожде́нію Єго́, і Той утверди́ лице́ Своє́ іти́ во Ієрусали́м;

And it came to pass, when the days were well-nigh come that he should be received up, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,

і посла́ ві́стники пред лице́м Свої́м; і ізше́дше внидо́ша в весь Самаря́нську, я́ко да угото́в'ять Єму́;

and sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.

і не прия́ша Єго́, я́ко лице́ Єго́ бі гряду́щеє во Ієрусали́м.

And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he were going to Jerusalem.

Ви́дівша же ученика́ Єго́ Іа́ков і Іоа́нн, рі́ста: Го́споди, хо́щеши ли, рече́ма, да огнь сни́деть с небесе́ і потреби́ть їх, я́коже і Ілія́ сотвори́?

And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we bid fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elijah did?

Обра́щся же запрети́ ї́ма, і рече́: не ві́ста, ко́єго ду́ха єста́ ви;

But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.

Син бо Челові́чеський не при́йде душ челові́чеських погуби́ти, но спасти́; і ідо́ша во і́ну весь.

For the Son of man came not to destroy men’s lives but to save them. And they went to another village.

(Зач. 49) Бисть же іду́щим їм по путі́, рече́ ні́кий к Нему́: іду́ по Тебі́, а́може а́ще і́деши, Го́споди.

And it came to pass, as they went on the way, a certain man said unto him, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest, Lord.

І рече́ єму́ Ісу́с: ли́си я́звини і́муть, і пти́ці небе́сния — гні́зда; Син же Челові́чеський не і́мать гді главу́ подклони́ти.

And Jesus said unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

Рече́ же ко друго́му: ходи́ вслід Мене́. Он же рече́: Го́споди, повели́ мі, (да) шед пре́жде погребу́ отця́ моєго́.

And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

Рече́ же єму́ Ісу́с: оста́ви ме́ртвия погребсти́ своя́ мертвеці́; ти же шед возвіща́й Ца́рствіє Бо́жиє.

But Jesus said unto him, Leave the dead to bury their own dead; but go thou and publish abroad the kingdom of God.

Рече́ же і други́й: іду́ по Тебі́, Го́споди: пре́жде же повели́ мі отвіща́тися, і́же суть [попрости́тися с су́щими] в дому́ моє́м.

And another also said, I will follow thee, Lord; but first suffer me to bid farewell to them that are at my house.

Рече́ же к нему́ Ісу́с: нікто́же возло́ж ру́ку свою́ на ра́ло і зря всп'ять, упра́влен єсть в Ца́рствії Бо́жиї.

But Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

(Зач.) Се, даю́ вам власть наступа́ти на змію́, і на скорпі́ю, і на всю си́лу вра́жию; і нічесо́же вас вреди́ть.

Behold, I give you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall in any wise hurt you.

Оба́че о сем не ра́дуйтеся, я́ко ду́сі вам повину́ються; ра́дуйтеся же, я́ко імена́ ва́ша напи́сана суть на Небесі́х.

Nevertheless in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

(Зач. 50) По сих же яви́ Госпо́дь і іні́х се́дьмдесят і посла́ їх по двіма́ пред лице́м Свої́м во всяк град і мі́сто, а́може хотя́ше Сам іти́;

Now after these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself was about to come.

глаго́лаше же к ним: жа́тва у́бо мно́га, ді́лателей же ма́ло; молі́теся у́бо Господи́ну жа́тві, да ізведе́ть ді́лателі на жа́тву Свою́.

Therefore said he unto them, The harvest indeed is plenteous, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth laborers into his harvest.

Іді́те! Се Аз посила́ю ви я́ко а́гнці посреді́ волко́в.

Go your ways; behold, I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves.

Не носі́те влага́лища, ні пи́ри, ні сапо́г і ні кого́же на путі́ цілу́йте.

Carry no purse, no wallet, nor shoes; and salute no man on the way.

Во́ньже а́ще дом вни́дете, пе́рвіє глаго́літе: мир до́му сему́;

And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.

і а́ще у́бо бу́деть ту син ми́ра, почи́єть на нем мир ваш; а́ще ли же ні — к вам возврати́ться.

And if a son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon him: but if not, it shall turn to you again.

В том же дому́ пребива́йте, яду́ще і пію́ще, я́же суть у них; досто́їн бо єсть ді́латель мзди своєя́; не преході́те із до́му в дом.

And in that same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.

І во́ньже а́ще град вхо́дите, і приє́млють ви, яді́те предлага́ємая вам;

And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:

і ісцілі́те неду́жния, і́же суть в нем, і глаго́літе їм: прибли́жися на ви Ца́рствіє Бо́жиє.

and heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

І во́ньже а́ще град вхо́дите, і не приє́млють вас, ізше́дше на распу́тія єго́, рці́те:

But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go out into the streets thereof and say,

і прах, прилі́пший нам от гра́да ва́шего, оттряса́єм вам. Оба́че сіє́ ві́діте, я́ко прибли́жися на ви Ца́рствіє Бо́жиє.

Even the dust from your city, that cleaveth to us, we wipe off against you: nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

Глаго́лю вам, я́ко Содо́мляном в день той отра́дніє бу́деть, не́же гра́ду тому́.

I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.

Го́ре тебі́, Хорази́не, го́ре тебі́, Вифсаї́до, я́ко а́ще в Ти́рі і Сидо́ні би́ша си́ли би́ли би́вшия в ва́ю, дре́вле у́бо во вре́тищі і пе́пелі сідя́ще покая́лися би́ша;

Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which were done in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

оба́че Ти́ру і Сидо́ну отра́дніє бу́деть на суді́, не́же ва́ма.

But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment, than for you.

І ти, Капернау́ме, і́же до небе́с вознеси́йся, до а́да низведе́шися.

And thou, Capernaum, who art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down unto Hades.

(Зач. 51) Слу́шаяй вас, Мене́ слу́шаєть, і отмета́яйся вас, Мене́ отмета́ється; отмета́яйся же Мене́, отмета́ється Посла́вшаго М'я.

He that heareth you heareth me; and he that rejecteth you rejecteth me; and he that rejecteth me rejecteth him that sent me.

Возврати́шася же се́дьмдесят с ра́достію, глаго́люще: Го́споди, і бі́си повину́ються нам о і́мені Твоє́м.

And the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject unto us in thy name.

Рече́ же їм: ви́діх сатану́ я́ко мо́лнію с небесе́ спа́дша.

And he said unto them, I beheld Satan fallen as lightning from heaven.

В той час возра́довася ду́хом Ісу́с і рече́: іспові́даютіся, О́тче, Го́споди небесе́ і землі́, я́ко утаї́л єси́ сія́ от прему́дрих і разу́мних, і откри́л єси́ та младе́нцем; єй, О́тче, я́ко та́ко бисть благоволе́ніє пред Тобо́ю.

In that same hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou didst hide these things from the wise and understanding, and didst reveal them unto babes: yea, Father; for so it was well-pleasing in thy sight.

И% обра́щся ко ученико́м, рече́: вся Мні предана́ би́ша от Отця́ Моєго́; і нікто́же вість, кто єсть Син, то́кмо Оте́ць; і кто єсть Оте́ць, то́кмо Син, і єму́же а́ще хо́щеть Син откри́ти.

And turning to the disciples, he said, All things have been delivered unto me of my Father: and no one knoweth who the Son is, save the Father; and who the Father is, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son willeth to reveal him.

(Зач. 52) І обра́щся ко ученико́м, єди́н [осо́б] рече́: блаже́нні о́чі ви́дящії, я́же ви́діте!

And turning to the disciples, he said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:

глаго́лю бо вам, я́ко мно́зі проро́ци і ца́ріє восхоті́ша ви́діти, я́же ви ви́діте, і не ви́діша, і сли́шати, я́же сли́шите, і не сли́шаша.

for I say unto you, that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which ye see, and saw them not; and to hear the things which ye hear, and heard them not.

(Зач. 53) І се, зако́нник ні́кий воста́, іскуша́я Єго́ і глаго́ля: Учи́телю, что сотвори́в, живо́т ві́чний наслі́дую?

And behold, a certain lawyer stood up, making trial of him, and saying, Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

Он же рече́ к нему́: в зако́ні что пи́сано єсть? Ка́ко чте́ши?

And he said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

Он же отвіща́в рече́: возлю́биши Го́спода Бо́га твоєго́ от всего́ се́рдця твоєго́, і от всея́ душі́ твоєя́, і все́ю крі́постію твоє́ю, і всім помишле́нієм твої́м, і бли́жняго своєго́ я́ко сам себе́.

And he answered and said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.

Рече́ же єму́: пра́во отвіща́л єси́; сіє́ сотвори́, і жив бу́деши.

And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

Он же хотя́ оправди́тися сам, рече́ ко Ісу́су: і кто єсть бли́жній мой?

But he, desiring to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

Отвіща́в же Ісу́с рече́: челові́к ні́кий схожда́ше от Ієрусали́ма во Ієрихо́н, і в разбо́йники впаде́, і́же совле́кше єго́, і я́зви возло́жше отидо́ша, оста́вльше єдва́ жи́ва су́ща.

And Jesus made answer and said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho; and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

По слу́чаю же свяще́нник ні́кий схожда́ше путе́м тім, і ви́дів єго́, мимоі́де.

And by chance a certain priest was going down that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

Та́кожде же і леви́т, бив на том мі́сті, прише́д і ви́дів, мимоі́де.

And in like manner a Levite also, when he was at the place, came and saw him, and passed by on the other side.

Самаря́нин же ні́кто гряди́й, при́йде над него́, і ви́дів єго́, милосе́рдова;

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he was moved with compassion,

і присту́пль обв'яза́ стру́пи єго́, возлива́я ма́сло і вино́: всади́в же єго́ на свой скот, приведе́ єго́ в гости́нницю, і приліжа́ єму́;

and came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on them oil and wine; and he set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

і нау́трія ізше́д, ізе́м два сре́бреника, даде́ гости́ннику, і рече́ єму́: приліжи́ єму́; і, є́же а́ще прийждиве́ши, аз єгда́ возвращу́ся, возда́м ті.

And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two denarii, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, I, when I come back again, will repay thee.

Кто у́бо от тіх тріє́х бли́жній мни́ттися би́ти впа́дшему в разбо́йники?

Which now of these three, thinkest thou, proved neighbor unto him that fell among the robbers?

Он же рече́: сотвори́вий ми́лость с ним. Рече́ же єму́ Ісу́с: іди́ і ти твори́ та́кожде.

Then he said, He that showed mercy on him. Then Jesus said unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

(Зач. 54) Бисть же ходя́щим їм, і Сам вни́де в весь ні́кую; жена́ же ні́кая і́менем Ма́рфа прия́т Єго́ в дом свой.

Now it came to pass, as they went on their way, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

І сестра́ єй бі нарица́ємая Марі́я, я́же і сі́дши при ногу́ Ісу́сову, сли́шаше сло́во Єго́.

And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at the Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.

Ма́рфа же мо́лв'яше о мно́зі слу́жбі, ста́вши же рече́: Го́споди, не бреже́ши ли, я́ко сестра́ моя́ єди́ну м'я оста́ви служи́ти? Рци у́бо єй, да мі помо́жеть.

But Martha was cumbered about much serving; and she came up to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister did leave me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

Отвіща́в же Ісу́с рече́ єй: Ма́рфо, Ма́рфо, пече́шися і мо́лвиши о мно́зі,

But Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art anxious and troubled about many things:

єди́но же єсть на потре́бу; Марі́я же благу́ю часть ізбра́, я́же не оти́меться от нея́.

but one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

О ни́хже [между́ тім] собра́вшимся тьмам наро́да, я́ко попира́ти друг дру́га, нача́т глаго́лати ученико́м Свої́м пе́рвіє: внемлі́те себі́ от ква́са фарисе́йська, є́же єсть лицемі́ріє.

In the mean time, when the many thousands of the multitude were gathered together, insomuch that they trod one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

(Зач. 63) Нічто́же бо покрове́нно єсть, є́же не откри́ється, і та́йно, є́же не уразумі́ється;

But there is nothing covered up, that shall not be revealed; and hidden, that shall not be known.

зане́, єли́ка во тьмі рі́сте, во сві́ті усли́шаться; і є́же ко у́ху глаго́ласте во хра́міх, пропові́сться на кро́віх.

Wherefore whatsoever ye have said in the darkness shall be heard in the light; and what ye have spoken in the ear in the inner chambers shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

Глаго́лю же вам, друго́м Свої́м: не убо́йтеся от убива́ющих ті́ло і пото́м не мо́гущих ли́шше что сотвори́ти;

And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

сказу́ю же вам, кого́ убо́йтеся: убо́йтеся іму́щаго власть по убіє́нії воврещи́ в дебр о́гненную; єй, глаго́лю вам, того́ убо́йтеся.

But I will warn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, who after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

Не п'ять ли птиць ціни́ться пі́нязема двіма́, і ні єди́на от них ність забве́нна пред Бо́гом.

Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? and not one of them is forgotten in the sight of God.

Но і вла́си глави́ ва́шея всі ізочте́ні суть. Не убо́йтеся у́бо: мно́зіх птиць у́нші єсте́ ви.

But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

(Зач. 64) Глаго́лю же вам: всяк, і́же а́ще іспові́сть М'я пред челові́ки, і Син Челові́чеський іспові́сть єго́ пред а́нгели Бо́жиїми;

And I say unto you, Everyone who shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

а отверги́йся Мене́ пред челові́ки, отве́ржен бу́деть пред а́нгели Бо́жиїми.

but he that denieth me in the presence of men shall be denied in the presence of the angels of God.

І всяк, і́же рече́ть сло́во на Си́на Челові́чеськаго, оста́виться єму́; а на Свята́го Ду́ха хули́вшему не оста́виться.

And everyone who shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Spirit it shall not be forgiven.

Єгда́ же приведу́ть ви на собо́рища, і вла́сті, і влади́чества, не пеці́теся, ка́ко іли́ что отвіща́єте, іли́ что рече́те;

And when they bring you before the synagogues, and the rulers, and the authorities, be not anxious how or what ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:

Святи́й бо Дух научи́ть ви в той час, я́же подоба́єть рещи́.

for the Holy Spirit shall teach you in that very hour what ye ought to say.

(Зач. 60) Рече́ же Єму́ ні́кий от наро́да: Учи́телю, рци бра́ту моєму́ разділи́ти со мно́ю достоя́ніє.

And one out of the multitude said unto him, Teacher, bid my brother divide the inheritance with me.

Он же рече́ єму́: челові́че, кто М'я поста́ви судію́ іли́ діли́теля над ва́ми?

But he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?

Рече́ же к ним: блюді́те і храні́теся от лихоі́мства, я́ко не от ізби́тка [внегда́ ізби́точествовати] кому́ живо́т єго́ єсть от імі́нія єго́.

And he said unto them, Take heed, and keep yourselves from covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

(Зач. 66) Рече́ же при́тчу к ним, глаго́ля: челові́ку ні́коєму бога́ту угобзи́ся ни́ва;

And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:

і ми́сляше в себі́, глаго́ля: что сотворю́, я́ко не і́мам гді собра́ти плодо́в мої́х?

and he reasoned within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have not where to bestow my fruits?

І рече́: се сотворю́ — разорю́ жи́тниці моя́, і бо́льшия сози́жду, і соберу́ ту вся жи́та моя́ і блага́я моя́;

And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

і реку́ душі́ моє́й: душе́, і́маши мно́га бла́га, лежа́ща на лі́та мно́га; почива́й, яждь, пий, весели́ся.

And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, be merry.

Рече́ же єму́ Бог: безу́мне, в сію́ нощ ду́шу твою́ істя́жуть от тебе́; а я́же угото́вал єси́, кому́ бу́дуть?

But God said unto him, Thou foolish one, this night is thy soul required of thee; and the things which thou hast prepared, whose shall they be?

Та́ко собира́яй себі́, а не в Бо́га богаті́я.

So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

Рече́ же ко ученико́м Свої́м: сего́ ра́ди глаго́лю вам: не пеці́теся душе́ю ва́шею, что я́сте, ні ті́лом, во что облече́теся;

And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat; nor yet for the body, what ye shall put on.

душа́ бо́льші єсть пи́щі, і ті́ло оде́жди.

Life is more than food, and the body than raiment.

Смотрі́те вран, я́ко не сі́ють, ні жнуть; ї́мже ність сокро́вища, ні жи́тниці, і Бог пита́єть їх; ко́льми па́че ви єсте́ лу́чші птиць?

Consider the ravens, that they sow not, neither reap; which have no store-chamber nor barn; and God feedeth them: of how much more value are ye than the birds!

Кто же от вас пеки́йся мо́жеть приложи́ти во́зрасту своєму́ ла́коть єди́н?

And which of you by being anxious can add unto the measure of his life one cubit?

А́ще у́бо ні ма́ла чесо́ мо́жете, что о про́чих пече́теся?

If then ye are not able to do even that which is least, why are ye anxious concerning the rest?

Смотрі́те кри́ни, ка́ко расту́ть: не тружда́ються, ні пряду́ть; глаго́лю же вам, я́ко ні Соломо́н во всей сла́ві своє́й облече́ся, я́ко єди́н от сих.

Consider the lilies, how they grow: they toil not, neither do they spin; yet I say unto you, Even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

А́ще же траву́, на селі́ днесь су́щу і у́трі в пещ вме́щему, Бог та́ко одіва́єть, ко́льми па́че вас, малові́ри?

But if God doth so clothe the grass, which today is in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more shall he clothe you, O ye of little faith?

І ви не іщі́те, что я́сте, іли́ что піє́те, і не возносі́теся;

And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.

всіх бо сих язи́ци ми́ра сего́ і́щуть, ваш же Оте́ць вість, я́ко тре́буєте сих.

For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: but your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

Оба́че іщі́те Ца́рствія Бо́жия, і сія́ вся приложа́ться вам.

Yet seek ye the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you.

(Зач. 67) Не бо́йся, ма́лоє ста́до! Я́ко благоізво́ли Оте́ць ваш да́ти вам Ца́рство.

Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Продаді́те імі́нія ва́ша і даді́те ми́лостині. Сотворі́те себі́ влага́лища неветша́юща, сокро́вище неоскуді́ємо на небесі́х, іді́же тать не приближа́ється, ні моль растліва́єть.

Sell that which ye have, and give alms; make for yourselves purses which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief draweth near, neither moth destroyeth.

Іді́же бо сокро́вище ва́ше, ту і се́рдце ва́ше бу́деть.

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Да бу́дуть чре́сла ва́ша препоя́сана, і світи́льниці горя́щії;

Let your loins be girded about, and your lamps burning;

і ви подо́бні челові́ком ча́ющим го́спода своєго́, когда́ возврати́ться от бра́ка, да прише́дшу і толкну́вшу, а́біє отве́рзуть єму́.

and be ye yourselves like unto men looking for their lord, when he shall return from the marriage feast; that, when he cometh and knocketh, they may straightaway open unto him.

Блаже́нні раби́ ті́ї, ї́хже прише́д госпо́дь обря́щеть бдя́щих; амі́нь глаго́лю вам, я́ко препоя́шеться і поса́дить їх, і мину́в [приступи́в] послу́жить їм.

Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them sit down to meat, and shall come and serve them.

І а́ще при́йдеть во втору́ю стра́жу, і в тре́тію стра́жу при́йдеть, і обря́щеть [їх] та́ко, блаже́нні суть раби́ ті́ї.

And if he shall come in the second watch, and come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.

Се же ві́діте, я́ко а́ще би ві́дал господи́н хра́мини, в кий час тать при́йдеть, бділ у́бо би, і не би дал подкопа́ти до́му своєго́.

But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched, and not have left his house to be broken through.

І ви у́бо бу́діте гото́ві: я́ко, во́ньже час не мні́те, Син Челові́чеський при́йдеть.

Be ye therefore ready also: for in an hour that ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Рече́ же Єму́ Петр: Го́споди, к нам ли при́тчу сію́ глаго́леши, іли́ ко всім?

And Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even unto all?

Рече́ же Госпо́дь: (Зач. 68) кто у́бо єсть ві́рний строї́тель і му́дрий, єго́же поста́вить госпо́дь над че́лядію своє́ю, дая́ти во вре́м'я житомі́ріє?

And the Lord said, Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall set over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season?

Блаже́н раб той, єго́же прише́д госпо́дь єго́ обря́щеть творя́ща та́ко;

Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

воі́стину глаго́лю вам, я́ко над всім імі́нієм свої́м поста́вить єго́.

Of a truth I say unto you, that he will set him over all that he hath.

А́ще же рече́ть раб той в се́рдці своє́м: косни́ть господи́н мой прийти́, і начне́ть би́ти раби́ і раби́ні, я́сти же і пи́ти і упива́тися, —

But if that servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;

при́йдеть господи́н раба́ того́ в день, во́ньже не ча́єть, і в час, во́ньже не вість, і расте́шеть єго́, і часть єго́ с неві́рними положи́ть.

the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he expecteth not, and in an hour when he knoweth not, and shall cut him asunder, and appoint his portion with the unfaithful.

Той же раб ві́дівий во́лю господи́на своєго́, і не угото́вав, ні сотвори́в по во́лі єго́, біє́н бу́деть мно́го;

And that servant, who knew his lord’s will, and made not ready, nor did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes;

неві́дівий же, сотвори́в же досто́йная ра́нам, біє́н бу́деть ма́ло. (Зач. 69) Вся́кому же, єму́же дано́ бу́деть мно́го, мно́го взи́щеться от него́, і єму́же преда́ша мно́жайше, мно́жайше про́сять [істя́жуть] от него́.

but he that knew not, and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. And to whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required: and to whom they commit much, of him will they ask the more.

Огня́ прийдо́х воврещи́ на зе́млю, і что хощу́, а́ще уже́ возгорі́ся?

I came to cast fire to the earth; and what do I desire, if it is already kindled?

Креще́нієм же і́мам крести́тися, і ка́ко удержу́ся, до́ндеже сконча́ються?

But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!

Мните́ ли, я́ко мир прийдо́х да́ти на зе́млю? Ні, глаго́лю вам, но разділе́ніє.

Think ye that I am come to give peace in the earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

Бу́дуть бо отсе́лі п'ять во єди́ном дому́ разділе́ні, тріє́ на два, і два на три;

for there shall be from henceforth five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

разділи́ться оте́ць на си́на, і син на отця́; ма́ти на дщер, і дщи на ма́тер; свекри́ на неві́сту свою́, і неві́ста на свекро́в свою́.

Father shall be divided against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against her mother; mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

Глаго́лаше же і наро́дом: єгда́ у́зрите о́блак восходя́щ от за́пада, а́біє глаго́лете: ту́ча гряде́ть, і бива́єть та́ко.

And he said to the multitudes also, When ye see a cloud rising out of the west, straightaway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it cometh to pass.

І єгда́ юг ві́ющ, глаго́лете: зной бу́деть, і бива́єть.

And when ye see a south wind blowing, ye say, There will be a scorching heat; and it cometh to pass.

Лицемі́ри, лице́ не́бу і землі́ ві́сте іскуша́ти; вре́мене же сего́ ка́ко не іскуша́єте?

Ye hypocrites, ye know how to interpret the face of the earth and the heaven; but how is it that ye do not interpret this time?

Что же і о себі́ не су́дите пра́ведноє?

And why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?

Єгда́ бо гряде́ши с сопе́рником твої́м ко кня́зю, на путі́ даждь ді́ланіє [потщи́ся] ізби́ти от него́, да не ка́ко привлече́ть тебе́ к судії́, і судія́ тя преда́сть слузі́, і слуга́ всади́ть тя в темни́цю;

For as thou art going with thine adversary before the magistrate, on the way give diligence to be quit of him; lest haply he drag thee unto the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.

глаго́лю тебі́: не ізи́деши отту́ду, до́ндеже і послі́днюю мі́дницю возда́си.

I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou have paid the very last mite.

(Зач. 50) І бисть внегда́ би́ти Єму́ на мі́сті ні́коєм моля́щуся, (і) я́ко преста́, рече́ ні́кий от учени́к Єго́ к Нему́: Го́споди, научи́ ни моли́тися, я́коже і Іоа́нн научи́ ученики́ своя́.

And it came to pass, as he was praying in a certain place, that when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, even as John also taught his disciples.

Рече́ же їм: єгда́ мо́литеся, глаго́літе: О́тче наш, і́же на небесі́х, да святи́ться і́м'я Твоє́; да при́йдеть Ца́рствіє Твоє́; да бу́деть во́ля Твоя́, я́ко на небесі́, і на землі́:

And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, As in heaven, so on the earth.

хліб наш насу́щний подава́й нам на всяк день

Give us day by day our daily bread.

і оста́ви нам гріхи́ на́ша, і́бо і са́мі оставля́єм вся́кому должнику́ на́шему; і не введи́ нас во іскуше́ніє, но ізба́ви нас от лука́ваго.

And forgive us our sins; For we ourselves also forgive everyone that is indebted to us. And bring us not into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.

І рече́ к ним: кто от вас і́мать дру́га? і і́деть к нему́ в полу́нощі, і рече́ть єму́: дру́же, даждь мі взайм три хлі́би;

And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves;

поне́же друг при́йде с пу́ті ко мні, і не і́мам чесо́ предложи́ти єму́.

for a friend is come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him;

І той ізвну́тр отвіща́в рече́ть: не твори́ мі труди́; уже́ две́рі затворени́ суть, і ді́ти моя́ со мно́ю на ло́жі суть; (і) не могу́ воста́в да́ти тебі́.

and he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee?

Глаго́лю же вам: а́ще і не дасть єму́ воста́в, зане́ друг єму́ єсть, но за безо́чство єго́, воста́в дасть єму́, єли́ка тре́буєть.

I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will arise and give him as many as he needeth.

(Зач. 56) І Аз вам глаго́лю: просі́те, і да́сться вам; іщі́те, і обря́щете; толці́те, і отве́рзеться вам;

And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

всяк бо прося́й приє́млеть, і іщя́й обріта́єть, і толку́щему отве́рзеться.

For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Кото́раго же вас отця́ воспро́сить син хлі́ба, єда́ ка́мень пода́сть єму́? Іли́ ри́би, єда́ в ри́би мі́сто змію́ пода́сть єму́?

And of which of you that is a father shall his son ask a loaf, and he give him a stone? or a fish, and he for a fish give him a serpent?

Іли́ а́ще попро́сить яйця́, єда́ пода́сть єму́ ско́рпію?

Or if he shall ask an egg, will he give him a scorpion?

А́ще у́бо ви злі су́ще, умі́єте дая́нія бла́га дая́ти ча́дом ва́шим, ко́льми па́че Оте́ць, і́же с небесе́, дасть Ду́ха Свята́го прося́щим у Него́?

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

(Зач. 57) І бі ізгоня́ бі́са, і той бі нім; бисть же бі́су ізше́дшу, проглаго́ла німи́й; і диви́шася наро́ди.

And he was casting out a demon, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the demon was gone out, the dumb man spake; and the multitudes marveled.

Ні́ції же от них рі́ша: о Веєльзеву́лі, кня́зі бісо́встім, ізго́нить бі́си.

But some of them said, By Beelzebul the prince of demons casteth he out demons.

Друзі́ї же іскуша́юще, зна́менія от Него́ іска́ху с небесе́.

And others, trying him, sought of him a sign from heaven.

Он же ві́дий помишле́нія їх, рече́ їм: вся́ко ца́рство само́ в себі́ разділя́яся, запусті́єть; і дом на дом, па́даєть.

But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.

А́ще же і сатана́ сам в себі́ разділи́ся, ка́ко ста́неть ца́рство єго́, я́коже глаго́лете, о Веєльзеву́лі ізгоня́щя М'я бі́си.

And if Satan also is divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul.

А́ще же Аз о Веєльзеву́лі ізгоню́ бі́си, си́нове ва́ші о ком ізго́нять? Сего́ ра́ди ті́ї бу́дуть вам судії́.

And if I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.

А́ще ли же о пе́рсті Бо́жиї ізгоню́ бі́си, у́бо пости́же на вас Ца́рствіє Бо́жиє.

But if I by the finger of God cast out demons, then is the kingdom of God come upon you.

Єгда́ крі́пкий вооружи́вся храни́ть свой двор, во смире́нії [в ми́рі] суть імі́нія єго́;

When the strong man fully armed guardeth his own court, his goods are in peace:

єгда́ же крі́плій єго́ наше́д побіди́ть єго́, все ору́жіє єго́ во́зьметь, на не́же упова́ше, і кори́сть єго́ раздає́ть.

but when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him his whole armor wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.

(Зач. 58) І́же ність со Мно́ю, на М'я єсть; і і́же не собира́єть со Мно́ю, расточа́єть.

He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.

Єгда́ (же) нечи́стий дух ізи́деть от челові́ка, прехо́дить сквозі́ безво́дная мі́ста, іщя́ поко́я; і не обріта́я, глаго́леть: возвращу́ся в дом мой, отню́дуже ізидо́х.

The unclean spirit when he is gone out of the man, passeth through waterless places, seeking rest, and finding none, he saith, I will turn back unto my house whence I came out.

І прише́д обря́щеть ї помете́н і укра́шен;

And when he is come, he findeth it swept and garnished.

тогда́ і́деть і по́йметь седьм други́х духо́в го́рших себе́, і вше́дше живу́ть ту; і бива́ють послі́дняя челові́ку тому́ го́рша пе́рвих.

Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more evil than himself; and they go and dwell there: and the last state of that man becometh worse than the first.

Бисть же єгда́ глаго́лаше сія́, воздви́гши ні́кая жена́ глас от наро́да, рече́ Єму́: блаже́нно чре́во носи́вшеє Тя, і сосця́, я́же єси́ ссал.

And it came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the multitude lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the breasts which thou didst suck.

Он же рече́: ті́мже у́бо блаже́нні сли́шащіі сло́во Бо́жиє і храня́щії є.

But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

(Зач. 59) Наро́дом же собира́ющимся нача́т глаго́лати: род сей лука́в єсть — зна́менія і́щеть, і зна́меніє не да́сться єму́, то́кмо зна́меніє Іо́ни проро́ка;

And when the multitudes were gathering together unto him, he began to say, This generation is evil: it seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet.

я́коже бо бисть Іо́на зна́меніє Ниневи́том, та́ко бу́деть і Син Челові́чеський ро́ду сему́.

For even as Jonah became a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.

Цари́ця ю́жськая воста́неть на суд с му́жі ро́да сего́ і осу́дить їх; я́ко при́йде от коне́ць землі́ сли́шати прему́дрость Соломо́нову; і се мно́жає Соломо́на зді́.

The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and shall condemn them: for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, something greater than Solomon is here.

Му́жіє Ниневи́тстії воста́нуть на суд с ро́дом сим і осу́дять ї; я́ко покая́шася про́повідію Іо́ниною; і се мно́жає Іо́ни зді.

The men of Nineveh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, something greater than Jonah is here.

Нікто́же (у́бо) світи́льника вжег, в скро́ві полага́єть, ні под спу́дом, но на сві́щниці, да входя́щії світ ви́дять.

And no man, when he hath lighted a lamp, putteth it in a cellar, neither under the bushel, but on the stand, that they which enter in may see the light.

(Зач. 60) Світи́льник ті́лу єсть о́ко; єгда́ у́бо о́ко твоє́ про́сто бу́деть, все ті́ло твоє́ сві́тло бу́деть; єгда́ же лука́во бу́деть, і ті́ло твоє́ те́мно;

The lamp of the body is the eye: when therefore thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when it is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.

блюди́ у́бо, єда́ світ, і́же в тебі́, тьма єсть.

Look therefore whether the light that is in thee be not darkness.

А́ще бо ті́ло твоє́ все сві́тло, не іми́й ні́кия ча́сті те́мни, бу́деть сві́тло все, я́коже єгда́ світи́льник блиста́нієм просвіща́єть тя.

If therefore thy whole body be full of light, having no part dark, it shall be wholly full of light, as when the lamp with its bright shining doth give thee light.

Єгда́ же глаго́лаше, моля́ше Єго́ фарисе́й ні́кий, да обі́дуєть у него́; вшед же возлеже́.

Now as he spake, a certain Pharisee asked him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat.

Фарисе́й же ви́дів диви́ся, я́ко не пре́жде крести́ся [не пе́рвіє уми́ся] пре́жде обі́да.

And when the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that he had not first bathed himself before dinner.

Рече́ же Госпо́дь к нему́: ни́ні ви, фарисе́є, вні́шняя сткля́ниці і блю́да очища́єте, вну́треннєє же ва́ше по́лно грабле́нія єсть і лука́вства.

And the Lord said unto him, Now ye the Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter; but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness.

Безу́мнії, не І́же ли сотвори́ вні́шнєє, і вну́треннєє сотвори́л єсть?

Ye foolish ones, did not he that made the outside make the inside also?

Оба́че от су́щих даді́те ми́лостині; і се вся чи́ста вам бу́дуть.

But give for alms those things which are within; and behold, all things are clean unto you.

(Зач. 61) Но го́ре вам фарисе́йом, я́ко одеся́тствуєте от м'я́тви, і пига́на, і вся́каго зе́лія, і мимохо́дите суд і любо́в Бо́жию; сія́ подоба́ше сотвори́ти, і о́ніх не оставля́ти.

But woe unto you Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and every herb, and pass over justice and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Го́ре вам, фарисе́йом, я́ко лю́бите предсіда́нія на со́нмищех і цілова́нія на то́ржищих.

Woe unto you Pharisees! for ye love the chief seats in the synagogues, and the salutations in the marketplaces.

Го́ре вам, кни́жници і фарисе́є, лицемі́ри, я́ко єсте́ я́ко гро́би неві́домі, і челові́ци ходя́щії верху́ не ві́дять.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as the tombs which appear not, and the men walking over them know it not.

Отвіща́в же ні́кий от зако́нник рече́ Єму́: Учи́телю, сія́ глаго́ля, і нам досажда́єши.

And answering, one of the lawyers saith unto him, Teacher, in saying this thou reproachest us also.

Он же рече́: і вам зако́нником го́ре, я́ко накла́даєте на челові́ки бремена́ не удо́б носи́ма, і са́мі єди́нім персто́м ва́шим не прикаса́єтеся бремене́м.

And he said, Woe unto you lawyers also! for ye load men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.

(Зач. 62) Го́ре вам, я́ко зи́ждете гро́би проро́к, отці́ же ва́ші ізби́ша їх.

Woe unto you! for ye build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.

У́бо свиді́тельствуєте і соблаговолі́те діло́м оте́ць ва́ших; я́ко ті́ї у́бо ізби́ша їх, ви же зи́ждете їх гро́би.

So ye bear witness and consent unto the works of your fathers: for they killed them, and ye build their tombs.

Сего́ ра́ди і прему́рость Бо́жия рече́: послю́ в них [к ним] проро́ки і апо́столи, і от них убію́ть і ізжену́ть;

Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send unto them prophets and apostles; and some of them they shall kill and persecute;

да взи́щеться кров всіх проро́к, пролива́ємая от сложе́нія ми́ра, от ро́да сего́,

that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;

от кро́ве А́веля да́же до кро́ве Заха́рії, поги́бшаго ме́жду олтаре́м і хра́мом; єй, глаго́лю вам, взи́щеться от ро́да сего́.

from the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zechariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary: yea, I say unto you, it shall be required of this generation.

Го́ре вам, зако́нником, я́ко взя́сте ключ разумі́нія: са́мі не внидо́сте, і входя́щим возбрани́сте.

Woe unto you lawyers! for ye took away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.

Глаго́лющу же Єму́ сія́ к ним, нача́ша кни́жници і фарисе́є бі́дні [зіло́] гні́ватися Нань і преста́ти [вопроша́ти] Єго́ о мно́зі,

And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to press upon him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things;

ла́юще Єго́ [наві́тующе Нань], і́щуще улови́ти ні́что от уст Єго́, да Нань возглаго́лють.

laying wait for him, seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.

(Зач. 70) Прийдо́ша же ні́ції в то вре́м'я, пові́дающе Єму́ о Галиле́єх, ї́хже кров Пила́т сміси́ с же́ртвами їх.

Now there were some present at that very season who told him of the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

І отвіща́в Ісу́с рече́ їм: мните́ ли, я́ко Галиле́яне сі́ї грі́шнійші па́че всіх Галиле́ян бя́ху, я́ко та́ко постра́даша?

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Think ye that these Galileans were sinners above all the Galileans, because they have suffered such things?

Ні, глаго́лю вам; но а́ще не пока́єтеся, всі та́кожде поги́бнете.

I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Іли́ о́ні осьмна́десяте, на ни́хже паде́ столп Силоа́мський і поби́ їх, мні́те ли, я́ко ті́ї до́лжнійші бя́ху па́че всіх живу́щих во Ієрусали́мі?

Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and killed them, think ye that they were offenders above all the men that dwell in Jerusalem?

Ні, глаго́лю вам; но а́ще не пока́єтеся, всі та́кожде поги́бнете.

I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all in like manner perish.

Глаго́лаше же сію́ при́тчу: смоко́вницю ім'я́ше ні́кий в виногра́ді своє́м всаждену́; і при́йде іщя́ плода́ на ней, і не обрі́те;

And he spake this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came seeking fruit thereon, and found none.

рече́ же к винаре́ві: се тре́тіє лі́то, отне́лиже прихожду́ іщя́ плода́ на смоко́вниці сей, і не обріта́ю; посіці́ ю (у́бо), вску́ю і зе́млю упражня́єть?

And he said unto the vinedresser, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why doth it also cumber the ground?

Он же отвіща́в рече́ єму́: го́споди, оста́ви ю і се лі́то, до́ндеже окопа́ю о́крест єя́ і оси́плю гно́єм;

And answering, he saith unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:

і а́ще у́бо сотвори́ть плод; а́ще ли же ні, во гряду́щеє посіче́ши ю.

and if it bear fruit, well; but if not, thereafter thou shalt cut it down.

(Зач. 71) Бя́ше же учя́ на єди́ном от со́нмищ в субо́ту;

And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath day.

і се жена́ бі іму́щи дух неду́жен літ осьмна́десять, і бі сля́ка і не могу́щи восклони́тися отню́д.

And behold, there was a woman that had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years; and she was bowed together, and could in no wise lift herself up.

Ви́дів же ю Ісу́с, пригласи́ і рече́ єй: же́но, отпущена́ єси́ от неду́га твоєго́.

And when Jesus saw her, he called her, and said to her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.

І возложи́ на ню ру́ці; і а́біє простре́ся, і сла́вляше Бо́га.

And he laid his hands upon her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

Отвіща́в же старі́йшина собо́ру, негоду́я, зане́ в субо́ту ісціли́ (ю) Ісу́с, глаго́лаше наро́ду: шесть дній єсть, в ня́же досто́їть ді́лати; в ти́я у́бо приходя́ще цілі́теся, а не в день субо́тний.

And the ruler of the synagogue, being moved with indignation because Jesus had healed on the sabbath, answered and said to the multitude, There are six days in which men ought to work: in these therefore come and be healed, and not on the day of the sabbath.

Отвіща́ (же) у́бо єму́ Госпо́дь і рече́: лицемі́ре, ко́ждо вас в субо́ту не отріша́єть ли своєго́ вола́ іли́ осла́ от я́слій, і вед напая́єть,

The Lord then answered him, and said, Ye hypocrites, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?

сію́ же дщер Авраа́млю су́щу, ю́же связа́ сатана́ се осьмоєна́десяте лі́то, не досто́яше ли разріши́тися єй от ю́зи сея́ в день субо́тний?

And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan had bound, lo, these eighteen years, to have been loosed from this bond on the day of the sabbath?

І сія́ Єму́ глаго́лющу, стидя́хуся всі противля́ющіїся Єму́; і всі лю́діє ра́довахуся о всіх сла́вних бива́ющих от Него́.

And as he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame: and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

(Зач. 72) Глаго́лаше же: кому́ подо́бно єсть Ца́рствіє Бо́жиє? І кому́ уподо́блю є?
