| For I rejoiced greatly, when brethren came and bare witness unto thy truth, even as thou walkest in truth. | Бо я дуже зрадів, коли прийшли браття і засвідчили про твою вірність істині. |

| Greater joy have I none than this, to hear of my children walking in truth. | Для мене немає більшої радости, як чути, що мої діти ходять в істині. |

| Beloved, thou doest a faithful work in whatsoever thou doest toward the brethren and toward strangers; | Улюблений! Ти вірно чиниш у тому, що робиш для братів і для подорожніх. |

| Therefore, if I come, I will bring to remembrance his works which he doeth, prating against us with wicked words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and them that would he forbiddeth and casteth them out of the church. | Тому, коли прийду, то нагадаю про діла, які він чинить, обмовляючи нас лихими словами, i‚ не задовольняючись тим, сам не приймає братів і забороняє бажаючим та виганяє з церкви. |

| Demetrius hath the witness of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, we also bear witness; and ye know that our witness is true. | Про Димитрія засвідчено всіма і самою істиною, свідчимо також і ми, і ви знаєте, що свідчення наше правдиве. |

| I had many things to write, but I am unwilling to write them to thee with ink and pen: | Багато чого мав я написати; але не хочу писати до тебе чорнилами і тростиною, |

| but I hope shortly to see thee, and we shall speak face to face. | а сподіваюся незабаром побачити тебе і поговорити устами до уст. |
