Sound the trumpet in Sion, make a proclamation in my holy mountain, and let all the inhabitants of the land be confounded: for the day of the Lord is near;	Сурміть трубою на Сионі і бийте тривогу на святій горі Моїй; нехай тремтять усі жителі землі, бо настає день Господній, бо він близько —

for a day of darkness and gloominess is near, a day of cloud and mist: a numerous and strong people shall be spread upon the mountains as the morning; there has not been from the beginning one like it, and after it there shall not be again even to the years of many generations.	день темряви і мороку, день хмарний і туманний: як ранкова зоря поширюється по горах народ численний і сильний, якого не бувало від віку і після того не буде у роди родів.

Before them is a consuming fire, and behind them is a flame kindled: the land before them is as a paradise of delight, and behind them a desolate plain: and there shall none of them escape.	Перед ним пожирає вогонь, а за ним палить полум’я; перед ним земля, як сад Едемський, а позаду нього буде спустошений степ, і нікому не буде порятунку від нього.

Their appearance is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they pursue.	Вигляд його як вигляд коней, і скачуть вони, як вершники;

As the sound of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, and as the sound of a flame of fire devouring stubble, and as a numerous and strong people setting themselves in array for battle.	скачуть по вершинах гір ніби зі стуком колісниць, ніби з тріском вогненного полум’я, яке пожирає солому, як сильний народ, вишикуваний до битви.

Before them shall the people be crushed: every face shall be as the blackness of a caldron.	Побачивши його, затремтять народи, у всіх лиця збліднуть.

As warriors shall they run, and as men of war shall they mount on the walls; and each shall move in his right path, and they shall not turn aside from their tracks:	Як борці біжать вони і як хоробрі воїни залазять на стіну, і кожен іде своєю дорогою, і не збивається зі шляхів своїх.
8	8
and not one shall stand aloof from his brother: they shall go on weighed down with their arms, and they fall upon their weapons, yet shall they in no wise be destroyed.	Не давлять одне одного, кожен іде своєю стежкою, і падають на списи, але залишаються неушкодженими.

They shall seize upon the city, and run upon the walls, and go up upon the houses, and enter in through the windows as thieves.	Бігають по місту, піднімаються на стіни, залазять на доми, входять у вікна, як злодії.

Before them the earth shall be confounded, and the sky shall be shaken: the sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their light.	Перед ними потрясеться земля, похитнеться небо; сонце і місяць потьмаряться, і зірки втратять своє світло.

And the Lord shall utter his voice before his host: for his camp is very great: for the execution of his words is mighty: for the day of the Lord is great, very glorious, and who shall be able to resist it?	І Господь дасть глас Свій перед воїнством Своїм, бо дуже численне полчище Його і могутній виконавець слова Його; бо великий день Господній і дуже страшний, і хто витримає його?
12	12
Now therefore, saith the Lord your God, turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with lamentation:	Але і нині ще говорить Господь: наверніться до Мене всім серцем своїм у посту, плачу і риданні.
13	13
and rend your hearts, and not your garments, and turn to the Lord your God: for he is merciful and compassionate, long-suffering, and plenteous in mercy, and repents of evils.	Роздирайте серця ваші, а не одяг ваш, і наверніться до Господа Бога вашого; бо Він благий і милосердий, довготерпеливий і многомилостивий і жалкує про біди.
14	14
Who knows if he will return, and repent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meat-offering and a drink-offering to the Lord your God?	Хто знає, чи не змилостивиться Він, і чи не залишить благословення, хлібного приношення й узливання Господу Богу вашому?
15	15
Sound the trumpet in Sion, sanctify a fast, proclaim a solemn service:	Засурміть трубою на Сионі, призначте піст і оголосіть урочисте зібрання.
16	16
gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the infants at the breast: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.	Зберіть народ, скличте зібрання, запросіть старців, зберіть отроків і немовлят; нехай вийде наречений з палацу свого і наречена зі своєї світлиці.
17	17
Between the porch and the altar let the priests that minister to the Lord weep, and say, Spare thy people, O Lord, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them, lest they should say among the heathen, Where is their God?	Між притвором і жертовником нехай плачуть священики, служителі Господні, і говорять: «пощади, Господи, народ Твій, не віддай спадщини Твоєї на наругу, щоб не знущалися з нього народи; для чого будуть говорити між народами: де Бог їхній?»
18	18
But the Lord was jealous of his land, and spared his people.	І тоді возревнує Господь за землю Свою, і пощадить народ Свій.
19	19
And the Lord answered and said to his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied with them: and I will no longer make you a reproach among the Gentiles.	І відповість Господь, і скаже народу Своєму: ось, Я пошлю вам хліб і вино і єлей, і будете насичуватися ними, і більше не віддам вас на наругу народам.
20	20
And I will chase away from you the northern adversary, and will drive him away into a dry land, and I will sink his face in the former sea, and his back parts in the latter sea, and his ill savour shall come up, and his stink shall come up, because he has wrought great things.	І того, хто прийшов з півночі, віддалю від вас, і вижену в землю безводну і порожню, переднє полчище його — у море східне, а заднє — у море західне, і піде від нього сморід, і підніметься від нього смердота, оскільки він багато наробив зла.
21	21
Be of good courage, O land; rejoice and be glad: for the Lord has done great things.	Не бійся, земле: радуйся і веселися, бо Господь великий, щоб зробити це.
22	22
Be of good courage, ye beasts of the plain, for the plains of the wilderness have budded, for the trees have borne their fruit, the fig-tree and the vine have yielded their strength.	Не бійтеся, тварини, бо пасовища пустелі виростять траву, дерево принесе плід свій, смоковниця і виноградна лоза покажуть свою силу.
23	23
Rejoice then and be glad, ye children of Sion, in the Lord your God: for he has given you food fully, and he will rain on you the early and the latter rain, as before.	І ви, діти Сиону, радійте і веселіться у Господі Бозі вашому; бо Він дасть вам дощ за мірою і буде посилати вам дощ, дощ ранній і пізній, як раніше.

And the floors shall be filled with corn, and the presses shall overflow with wine and oil.	І наповняться токи хлібом, і переповняться підточилля виноградним соком і єлеєм.
25	25
And I will recompense you for the years which the locust, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, and the cankerworm have eaten, even my great army, which I sent against you.	І воздам вам за ті роки, коли пожирали сарана, черва, жуки і гусінь велике військо Моє, яке послав Я на вас.
26	26
And ye shall eat abundantly, and be satisfied, and shall praise the name of the Lord your God for the things which he has wrought wonderfully with you: and my people shall not be ashamed for ever.	І до ситости будете їсти і насичуватися і славити ім’я Господа Бога вашого, Який дивне вчинив з вами, і не осоромиться народ Мій повіки.
27	27
And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and that there is none else beside me; and my people shall no more be ashamed for ever.	І пізнаєте, що Я посеред Ізраїля, і Я — Господь Бог ваш, і немає іншого, і Мій народ не осоромиться повіки.
