Chapter 13	Глава 13

1	1
In the twenty-third year of Joas son of Ochozias king of Juda began Joachaz the son of Ju to reign in Samaria, and he reigned seventeen years.	У двадцять третій рік Іоаса, сина Охозії, царя Юдейського, став царем Іоахаз, син Іиуя, над Ізраїлем у Самарії, і царював сімнадцять років,

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked after the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who led Israel to sin; he departed not from them.	і робив неугодне в очах Господніх, і ходив у гріхах Ієровоама, сина Наватового, який увів Ізраїля в гріх, і не відставав від них.

And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and delivered them into the hand of Azael king of Syria, and into the hand of the son of Ader son of Azael, all their days.	І запалав гнів Господа на Ізраїля, і Він віддавав їх у руку Азаїла, царя Сирійського, і в руку Венадада, сина Азаїлового, в усі дні.

And Joachaz besought the Lord, and the Lord hearkened to him, for he saw the affliction of Israel, because the king of Syria afflicted them.	І помолився Іоахаз лицю Господньому, і почув його Господь, тому що бачив утиснення ізраїльтян, як тіснив їх цар Сирійський.

And the Lord gave deliverance to Israel, and they escaped from under the hand of Syria: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents as heretofore.	І дав Господь ізраїльтянам визволителя, і вийшли вони з-під руки сиріян, і жили сини Ізраїлеві в наметах своїх, як вчора і третього дня.

Only they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who led Israel to sin: they walked in them—moreover the grove also remained in Samaria.	Однак же не відступали від гріхів дому Ієровоамового, який ввів Ізраїля в гріх; ходили в них, і діброва стояла в Самарії.

Whereas there was not left any army to Joachaz, except fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand infantry: for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and they made them as dust for trampling.	В Іоахаза залишалося війська тільки п’ятдесят вершників, десять колісниць і десять тисяч піших, тому що знищив їх цар Сирійський і перетворив їх на порох на потоптання.

And the rest of the acts of Joachaz, and all that he did, and his mighty acts are not these things written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?	Інше про Іоахаза і про все, що він зробив, і про мужні подвиги його, написано в літописі царів ізраїльських.

And Joachaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria: and Joas his son reigned in his stead.	І спочив Іоахаз з батьками своїми, і поховали його в Самарії. І став царем Іоас, син його, замість нього.

In the thirty-seventh year of Joas king of Juda, Joas the son of Joachaz began to reign over Israel in Samaria sixteen years.	В тридцять сьомий рік Іоаса, царя Юдейського, став царем Іоас, син Іоахазів, над Ізраїлем у Самарії, і царював шістнадцять років,

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord; he departed not from all the sin of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who led Israel to sin: he walked in it.	і робив неугодне в очах Господніх; не відставав від усіх гріхів Ієровоама, сина Наватового, який увів Ізраїля в гріх, але ходив у них.

And the rest of the acts of Joas, and all that he did, and his mighty acts which he performed together with Amessias king of Juda, are not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?	Інше про Іоаса і про все, що він зробив, і про мужні подвиги його, як він воював з Амасією, царем Юдейським, написано в літописі царів ізраїльських.

And Joas slept with his fathers, and Jeroboam sat upon his throne, and he was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.	І спочив Іоас з батьками своїми, а Ієровоам сів на престолі його. І похований Іоас у Самарії з царями ізраїльськими.

Now Elisaie was sick of his sickness, whereof he died: and Joas king of Israel went down to him, and wept over his face, and said, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horseman thereof!	Єлисей занедужав на хворобу, від якої потім і помер. І прийшов до нього Іоас, цар Ізраїльський, і плакав над ним, і говорив: батьку мій! батьку мій! колісниця Ізраїля і кіннота його!

And Elisaie said to him, Take bow and arrows. And he took to himself a bow and arrows.	І сказав йому Єлисей: візьми лук і стріли. І взяв він лук і стріли.

And he said to the king, Put thy hand on the bow. And Joas put his hand upon it: and Elisaie put his hands upon the king's hands.	І сказав цареві Ізраїльському: поклади руку твою на лук. І поклав він руку свою. І наклав Єлисей руки свої на руки царя,

And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. And Elisaie said, Shoot. And he shot. And Elisaie said, The arrow of the Lord's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria; and thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphec until thou have consumed them.	і сказав: відчини вікно на схід. І він відчинив. І сказав Єлисей: вистріли. І він вистрілив. І сказав: ця стріла визволення від Господа і стріла визволення проти Сирії, і ти вразиш сиріян в Афеку дощенту.

And Elisaie said to him, Take bow and arrows. And he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And the king smote three times, and stayed.	І сказав [Єлисей]: візьми стріли. І він узяв. І сказав цареві Ізраїльському: бий по землі. І ударив він тричі, і зупинився.

And the man of God was grieved at him, and said, If thou hadst smitten five or six times, then thou shouldest have smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed them; but now thou shalt smite Syria only thrice.	І розгнівався на нього чоловік Божий, і сказав: потрібно було б бити п’ять або шість разів, тоді ти побив би сиріян зовсім, а тепер тільки тричі вразиш сиріян.

And Elisaie died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites came into the land, at the beginning of the year.	І помер Єлисей, і поховали його. І полчища моавитян прийшли в землю в наступному році.

And it came to pass as they were burying a man, that behold, they saw a band of men, and they cast the man into the grave of Elisaie: and as soon as he touched the bones of Elisaie, he revived and stood up on his feet.	І було, що коли ховали одного чоловіка, то, побачивши це полчище, ті, що ховали , кинули того чоловіка в гріб Єлисеїв; і він при падінні своєму торкнувся кісток Єлисея, і ожив, і встав на ноги свої.

And Azael greatly afflicted Israel all the days of Joachaz.	Азаїл, цар Сирійський, тіснив ізраїльтян в усі дні Іоахаза.

And the Lord had mercy and compassion upon them, and had respect to them because of his covenant with Abraam, and Isaac, and Jacob; and the Lord would not destroy them, and did not cast them out from his presence.	Але Господь змилосердився над ними, і помилував їх, і повернувся до них заради завіту Свого з Авраамом, Ісааком і Яковом, і не хотів знищити їх, і не відкинув їх від лиця Свого донині.

And Azael king of Syria died, and the son of Ader his son reigned in his stead.	І вмер Азаїл, цар Сирійський, і став царем Венадад, син його, замість нього.
25	25
And Joas the son of Joachaz returned, and took the cities out of the hand of the son of Ader the son of Azael, which he had taken out of the hand of Joachaz his father in the war: thrice did Joas smite him, and he recovered the cities of Israel.	І взяв назад Іоас, син Іоахаза, з руки Венадада, сина Азаїла, міста, які він узяв війною з руки батька його Іоахаза. Три рази розбив його Іоас і повернув міста Ізраїлеві.
