| Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: | Симон Петро, раб і апостол Ісуса Христа, тим, хто прийняв з нами однаково дорогоцінну віру в правді Бога нашого і Спасителя Ісуса Христа: |

| Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; | благодать і мир вам нехай помножиться в пізнанні Бога і Христа Ісуса, Господа нашого. |

| seeing that his divine power hath granted unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us through glory and virtue; | Тому що від Божественної сили Його даровано нам усе потрібне для життя і благочестя, через пізнання Того, Хто покликав нас славою та чеснотою, |

| whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust. | якими даровані нам великі й дорогоцінні обітниці, щоб ви через них стали причасниками Божого єства, віддалившись від пануючого в світі розтління похіттю: |

| Yea, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply virtue; and in your virtue knowledge; | ви ж, докладаючи до цього всю старанність, покажіть у вашій вірі чесноту, в чесноті розсудливість, |

| and in your knowledge self-control; and in your self-control patience; and in your patience godliness; | в розсудливості стриманість, у стриманості терпіння, у терпінні благочестя, |

| and in your godliness brotherly kindness; and in your brotherly kindness love. | в благочесті братолюбство, у братолюбстві любов. |

|
| For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful unto the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. | Якщо це у вас є і примножується, то ви не залишитесь без успіху і плоду в пізнанні Господа нашого Ісуса Христа. |

|
| For he that lacketh these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins. | А в кого цього немає, той сліпий, закрив очі, забув про очищення давніх гріхів своїх. |
|

| Wherefore, brethren, give the more diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never stumble: | Тому, браття, усе більше і більше старайтесь утверджувати ваше покликання та обрання; так діючи, ви ніколи не спіткнетесь, |

|
| for thus shall be richly supplied unto you the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. | бо так відкриється для вас вільний вхід до вічного Царства Господа нашого і Спасителя Ісуса Христа. |

| Wherefore I shall not neglect to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the truth which is with you. | Заради того я ніколи не перестану нагадувати вам про це, хоч і ви знаєте і утверджені у справжній істині. |

|
| And I think it right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; | Справедливим же вважаю, доки перебуваю в цьому тілі, спонукати вас нагадуванням, |

|
| knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle cometh swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ signified unto me. | знаючи, що я незабаром повинен покинути оселю мою, як і Господь наш Ісус Христос відкрив мені. |

|
| Yea, I will give diligence that at every time ye may be able after my decease to call these things to remembrance. | Буду ж старатися, щоб ви і по відході моїм пам’ятали це. |
|

|
| For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. | Бо ми сповістили вам силу і пришестя Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, не йдучи за хитромудрими байками, а бувши очевидцями Його величі. |

| For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there was borne such a voice to him by the Majestic Glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased: | Бо Він прийняв від Бога Отця честь і славу, коли від величної слави дійшов до Hього такий голос: «Цей є Син Мій улюблений, у Якому Моє благовоління». |

| and this voice we ourselves heard borne out of heaven, when we were with him in the holy mount. | І цей голос, що зійшов з небес, ми чули, перебуваючи з Hим на горі святій. |

| And we have the word of prophecy made more sure; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the daystar arise in your hearts: | До того ж маємо найдостовірніше пророче слово; і ви добре робите, коли звертаєтесь до нього, як до світильника, що сяє у темному місці, доки не почне розвиднятися день і не засяє зірниця у серцях ваших. |

| knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of private interpretation. | Знайте насамперед те, що ніяке пророцтво в Писанні не залежить від власного вирішення. |
|

| For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but holy men of God spake, being moved by the Holy Spirit. | Бо ніколи не було пророцтва з людської волі, а промовляли його святі Божі люди, натхнені Духом Святим. |
