Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:

|
the same came unto him by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that thou doest, except God be with him.
|
се́й пріи́де ко Іису́су но́щію, и рече́ Єму́: Равві́, вѣ́мъ, я́ко от Бо́га прише́лъ єси́ Учи́тель: никто́же бо мо́жетъ зна́меній си́хъ твори́ти, я́же Ты́ твори́ши, а́ще не бу́детъ Бо́гъ съ ни́мъ.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
|
Отвѣща́ Іису́съ и рече́ єму́: ами́нь, ами́нь глаго́лю тебѣ́: а́ще кто́ не роди́тся свы́ше, не мо́жетъ ви́дѣти Ца́рствія Бо́жія.
|

Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
|
Глаго́ла къ Нему́ Нікоди́мъ: ка́ко мо́жетъ человѣ́къ роди́тися ста́ръ сы́й? Єда́ мо́жетъ второ́є вни́ти во утро́бу ма́тере своєя́ и роди́тися?

|
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
|
Отвѣща́ Іису́съ: ами́нь, ами́нь глаго́лю тебѣ́: а́ще кто́ не роди́тся водо́ю и Ду́хомъ, не мо́жетъ вни́ти во Ца́рствіє Бо́жіє:
|

|
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
|
рожде́нноє от пло́ти пло́ть є́сть, и рожде́нноє от Ду́ха ду́хъ є́сть.
|

|
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born anew.
|
Не диви́ся, я́ко рѣ́хъ ти́: подоба́єтъ ва́мъ роди́тися свы́ше.
|
|

|
|
The wind bloweth where it will, and thou hearest the voice thereof, but knowest not whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is everyone that is born of the Spirit.
|
Ду́хъ, идѣ́же хо́щетъ, ды́шетъ, и гла́съ єго́ слы́шиши, но не вѣ́си, отку́ду прихо́дитъ и ка́мо и́детъ: та́ко є́сть вся́къ [человѣ́къ] рожде́нный от Ду́ха.

Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
|
Отвѣща́ Нікоди́мъ и рече́ Єму́: ка́ко мо́гутъ сія́ бы́ти?

|
Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou the teacher of Israel, and understandest not these things?
|
Отвѣща́ Іису́съ и рече́ єму́: ты́ єси́ учи́тель Ізра́илевъ, и си́хъ ли не вѣ́си?
|

|
|
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that which we know, and bear witness of that which we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
|
Ами́нь, ами́нь глаго́лю тебѣ́, я́ко, є́же вѣ́мы, глаго́лемъ, и, є́же ви́дѣхомъ, свидѣ́телствуємъ, и свидѣ́телства На́шего не пріє́млете:
|

|
If I told you earthly things and ye believe not, how shall ye believe if I tell you heavenly things?
|
а́ще земна́я реко́хъ ва́мъ, и не вѣ́руєте: ка́ко, а́ще реку́ ва́мъ небе́сная, увѣ́руєте?
|
|

|
|
And no one hath ascended into heaven, but he that descended out of heaven, even the Son of man, who is in heaven.
|
(Зач. 9) И никто́же взы́де на не́бо, то́кмо сше́дый съ небесе́ Сы́нъ Человѣ́ческій, сы́й на небеси́:
|

|
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up;
|
и я́коже Моисе́й вознесе́ змію́ въ пусты́ни, та́ко подоба́єтъ вознести́ся Сы́ну Человѣ́ческому,
|
|

|
|
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
|
да вся́къ вѣ́руяй въ О́нь не поги́бнетъ, но и́мать живо́тъ вѣ́чный.
|
|

|
|
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
|
(Зач. 10) Та́ко бо возлюби́ Бо́гъ мі́ръ, я́ко и Сы́на Своєго́ Єдиноро́днаго да́лъ є́сть, да вся́къ вѣ́руяй въ О́нь не поги́бнетъ, но и́мать живо́тъ вѣ́чный.

|
For God sent not his Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world should be saved through him.
|
Не посла́ бо Бо́гъ Сы́на Своєго́ въ мі́ръ, да су́дитъ мі́рови, но да спасе́тся И́мъ мі́ръ.

|
|
He that believeth on him is not judged: but he that believeth not hath been judged already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God.
|
Вѣ́руяй въ О́нь не бу́детъ осужде́нъ: а не вѣ́руяй уже́ осужде́нъ є́сть, я́ко не вѣ́рова во и́мя Єдиноро́днаго Сы́на Бо́жія.

|
And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil.
|
Се́й же є́сть су́дъ, я́ко свѣ́тъ пріи́де въ мі́ръ, и возлюби́ша человѣ́цы па́че тму́, не́же свѣ́тъ: бѣ́ша бо и́хъ дѣла́ зла́.

|
For everyone that doeth evil hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, lest his works should be reproved.
|
Вся́къ бо дѣ́лаяй зла́я ненави́дитъ свѣ́та и не прихо́дитъ къ свѣ́ту, да не облича́тся дѣла́ єго́, я́ко лука́ва су́ть:

|
But he that doeth the truth cometh to the light, that his works may be made manifest, that they have been wrought in God.
|
творя́й же и́стину гряде́тъ къ свѣ́ту, да я́вятся дѣла́ єго́, я́ко о Бо́зѣ су́ть содѣ́лана.

|
After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.
|
(Зач. 11) По си́хъ (же) пріи́де Іису́съ и ученицы́ Єго́ въ Жидо́вскую зе́млю: и ту́ живя́ше съ ни́ми, и креща́ше.

|
And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salem, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.
|
Бѣ́ же Іоа́ннъ крестя́ во Єно́нѣ бли́зъ Салі́ма, я́ко во́ды мно́ги бя́ху ту́: и прихожда́ху и креща́хуся:

|
For John was not yet cast into prison.
|
не у́ бо бѣ́ всажде́нъ въ темни́цу Іоа́ннъ.

|
There arose therefore a questioning on the part of John’s disciples with a Jew about purifying.
|
Бы́сть же стяза́ніє от учени́къ Іоа́нновыхъ со Іуде́и о очище́ніи:

|
|
And they came unto John, and said to him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond the Jordan, to whom thou hast borne witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.
|
и пріидо́ша ко Іоа́нну, и реко́ша єму́: равві́, И́же бѣ́ съ тобо́ю объ о́нъ по́лъ Іорда́на, Єму́же ты́ свидѣ́телствовалъ єси́, се́ Се́й креща́єтъ, и вси́ гряду́тъ къ Нему́.

|
John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it have been given him from heaven.
|
Отвѣща́ Іоа́ннъ и рече́: не мо́жетъ человѣ́къ пріима́ти ничесо́же, а́ще не бу́детъ дано́ єму́ съ небесе́.

|
Ye yourselves bear witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but, that I am sent before him.
|
Вы́ са́ми мнѣ́ свидѣ́телствуєте, я́ко рѣ́хъ: нѣ́смь а́зъ Христо́съ, но я́ко по́сланъ є́смь предъ Ни́мъ.

|
He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, that standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is made full.
|
Имѣ́яй невѣ́сту жени́хъ є́сть: а дру́гъ женихо́въ, стоя́ и послу́шая єго́, ра́достію ра́дуєтся за гла́съ женихо́въ: сія́ у́бо ра́дость моя́ испо́лнися:

|
He must increase, but I must decrease.
|
О́ному подоба́єтъ расти́, мнѣ́ же ма́литися.

|
He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is of the earth, and of the earth he speaketh: he that cometh from heaven is above all.
|
Гряды́й свы́ше надъ всѣ́ми є́сть: сы́й от земли́, от земли́ є́сть, и от земли́ глаго́летъ: Гряды́й съ небесе́ надъ всѣ́ми є́сть:

|
And what he hath seen and heard, of that he beareth witness; and no man receiveth his witness.
|
и є́же ви́дѣ и слы́ша, сіє́ свидѣ́телствуєтъ: и свидѣ́телства Єго́ никто́же пріє́млетъ.

|
He that hath received his witness hath set his seal to this, that God is true.
|
Пріє́мый Єго́ свидѣ́телство вѣ́рова [утверди́] я́ко Бо́гъ и́стиненъ є́сть.
|
|

|
For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure.
|
Єго́же бо посла́ Бо́гъ, глаго́лы Бо́жія глаго́летъ: не въ мѣ́ру бо Бо́гъ дає́тъ Ду́ха.

|
|
The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
|
Оте́цъ (бо) лю́битъ Сы́на, и вся́ даде́ въ ру́цѣ Єго́.
|
|

|

|
|
He that believeth on the Son hath eternal life; but he that obeyeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.
|
Вѣ́руяй въ Сы́на и́мать живо́тъ вѣ́чный: а и́же не вѣ́руєтъ въ Сы́на, не у́зритъ живота́, но гнѣ́въ Бо́жій пребыва́єтъ на не́мъ.
