He has made old my flesh and my skin; he has broken my bones.

Beth. He has built against me, and compassed my head, and brought travail upon me.

He has builded against me, and I cannot come forth: he has made my brazen chain heavy.

Gimel. Yea, though I cry and shout, he shuts out my prayer.

Daleth. He has built up my ways, he has hedged my paths;

|
he has troubled me, as a she-bear lying in wait: he is to me as a lion in secret places.

He pursued me after I departed, and brought me to a stand: he has utterly ruined me.
|

He. He has bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.

He has caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.

|
I became a laughing-stock to all my people; and their song all the day.
|
Я став посміховищем для всього народу мого, вседенною піснею їх.

|
Vau. He has filled me with bitterness, he has drenched me with gall.
|

|
And he has dashed out my teeth with gravel, he has fed me with ashes.
|

He has also removed my soul from peace: I forgot prosperity.

Therefore my success has perished, and my hope from the Lord.

Zain. I remembered by reason of my poverty, and because of persecution my bitterness and gall shall be remembered;
|
Помисли про моє страждання і біду мою, про полин і жовч.

|
and my soul shall meditate with me.
|
Твердо пам’ятає це душа моя і падає у мені.
|

|
|
This will I lay up in my heart, therefore will I endure.
|
Ось що я відповідаю серцю моєму і тому уповаю:

|
Heth. It is the mercies of the Lord, that he has not failed me, because his compassions are not exhausted. Pity us, O Lord, early every month: for we are not brought to an end, because his compassions are not exhausted.
|
з милости Господа ми не зникли, бо милосердя Його не виснажилося.

|
|
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
|
Воно оновлюється кожного ранку; велика вірність Твоя!

|
|
The Lord is my portion, says my soul; therefore will I wait for him.
|
Господь частина моя, — говорить душа моя, — отже, буду надіятися на Нього.

|
|
Teth. The Lord is good to them that wait for him: the soul which shall seek him
|
Благий Господь до тих, хто надіється на Нього, до душі, яка шукає Його.
|
|

|

|
|
is good, and shall wait for, and quietly expect salvation of the Lord.
|
Благо тому, хто терпляче очікує спасіння від Господа.
|
|

|

|
|
Teth. It is good for a man when he bears a yoke in his youth.
|
Благо людині, коли вона несе тягар у юності своїй;
|
|

|

|
|
He will sit alone, and be silent, because he has borne it upon him.
|
сидить усамітнено і мовчить, бо Він наклав його на неї;

|
|
Jod. He will give his cheek to him that smites him: he will be filled full with reproaches.
|
вважає вуста свої за порох, думаючи: «можливо, є ще надія»;

|
|
For the Lord will not reject for ever.
|
підставляє щоку свою тому, хто б’є його, пересичується ганьбою,

Chaph. For he that has brought down will pity, and that according to the abundance of his mercy.
|
бо не навік залишає Господь.
|
|

|
|
He has not answered in anger from his heart, though he has brought low the children of a man.
|
Але послав горе, і помилує з великої благости Своєї.
|
|

|

|
|
Lamed. To bring down under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
|
Бо Він не з волі серця Свого карає і засмучує синів людських.
|
|

|

|
|
to turn aside the judgment of a man before the face of the Most High,
|
Але, коли топчуть ногами своїми всіх в’язнів землі,
|
|
36
|
35
|
|
to condemn a man unjustly in his judgment, the Lord has not given commandment.
|
коли неправедно судять людину перед лицем Всевишнього,
|
|
37
|
36
|
|
Who has thus spoken, and it has come to pass? the Lord has not commanded it.
|
коли пригноблюють людину в ділі її: хіба не бачить Господь?
|
|

|
37
|
|
Out of the mouth of the Most High there shall not come forth evil and good.
|
Хто це говорить: «і те буває, чому Господь не повелів бути»?
|
|

|
|
Mem. Why should a living man complain, a man concerning his sin?
|
Чи не від уст Всевишнього приходить біда і благополуччя?
|
|

|

|
|
Nun. Our way has been searched out and examined, and we will turn to the Lord.
|
Навіщо ремствує людина, яка живе? кожен ремствуй на гріхи свої.
|
|

|
40
|
|
Let us lift up our hearts with our hands to the lofty One in heaven.
|
Випробуємо і дослідимо путі свої, і звернімося до Господа.
|
|

|
|
We have sinned, we have transgressed; and thou hast not pardoned.
|
Піднесімо серце наше і руки до Бога, сущого на небесах:
|
|

|
|
Samech. Thou hast visited us in wrath, and driven us away: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.
|
ми відпали й були вперті; Ти не пощадив.
|
|

|
|
Thou hast veiled thyself with a cloud because of prayer, that I might be blind,
|
Ти покрив Себе гнівом і переслідував нас, умертвляв, не щадив;

and be cast off. Ain. Thou hast set us alone in the midst of the nations.
|
Ти закрив Себе хмарою, щоб не доходила молитва наша;

|
All our enemies have opened their mouth against us.
|
сміттям і мерзотою Ти зробив нас серед народів.
|
|

|
|
Fear and wrath are come upon us, suspense and destruction.
|
Розкрили на нас пастку свою всі вороги наші.

|
|
Mine eye shall pour down torrents of water, for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
|
Жах і яма, спустошення і руйнування — доля наша.
|
|

|
Phe. Mine eye is drowned with tears, and I will not be silent, so that there shall be no rest,
|
Потоки вод виливає око моє через загибель дочки народу мого.

|
|
until the Lord look down, and behold from heaven.
|
Око моє виливається і не перестає, бо немає полегшення,
|
|

|
|
Mine eye shall prey upon my soul, because of all the daughters of the city.
|
доки не зглянеться і не побачить Господь з небес.
|
|

|
Tsade. The fowlers chased me as a sparrow, all mine enemies destroyed my life in a pit without cause,
|
Око моє засмучує душу мою заради всіх дочок мого міста.
|
|

|
|
and laid a stone upon me.
|
Всіляко намагалися вловити мене, як пташку, вороги мої, без усякої причини;
|
|

|
|
Water flowed over my head: I said, I am cut off.
|
скинули життя моє в яму і закидали мене камінням.

Koph. I called upon thy name, O Lord, out of the lowest dungeon.
|
Води піднялися до голови моєї; я сказав: «загинув я».

|
Thou heardest my voice: close not thine ears to my supplication.
|
Я заклика́в ім’я Твоє, Господи, з ями глибокої.

|
|
Thou drewest nigh to my help: in the day wherein I called upon thee thou saidst to me, Fear not.
|
Ти чув голос мій; не закрий вуха Твого від зітхання мого, від волання мого.

|
Rechs. O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.
|
Ти наближався, коли я взивав до Тебе, і говорив: «не бійся».

|
Thou hast seen, O Lord, my troubles: thou hast judged my cause.
|
Ти захищав, Господи, діло душі моєї; відкупляв життя моє.

|
Thou hast seen all their vengeance, thou hast looked on all their devices against me.
|
Ти бачиш, Господи, образу мою; розсуди діло моє.

Chsen. Thou hast heard their reproach and all their devices against me;
|
Ти бачиш усю мстивість їх, усі задуми їх проти мене.

|
|
the lips of them that rose up against me, and their plots against me all the day;
|
Ти чуєш, Господи, наругу їх, усі задуми їх проти мене,
|
|

|

|
|
their sitting down and their rising up: look thou upon their eyes.
|
слова тих, хто повстає на мене і їхні хитрощі проти мене кожного дня.
|
|

|
|
Thou wilt render them a recompence, O Lord, according to the works of their hands.
|
Поглянь, чи сидять вони, чи встають, я для них — пісня.
|
|

|
|
Thau. Thou wilt give them as a covering, the grief of my heart.
|
Воздай їм, Господи, за ділами рук їх;
|
|
66
|

|
|
Thou wilt persecute them in anger, and wilt consume them from under the heaven, O Lord.
|
пошли їм затьмарення серця і прокляття Твоє на них;
