Chapter 1	Глава 1

And Solomon the son of David was established over his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and increased him exceedingly.	І утвердився Соломон, син Давидів, у царстві своєму; і Господь Бог його був з ним, і підніс його високо.

And Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the captains of thousands, and to the captains of hundreds, and to the judges, and to all the rulers over Israel, even the heads of the families;	І наказав Соломон зібратися всьому Ізраїлю: тисячоначальникам і стоначальникам, і суддям, і всім начальникам у всьому Ізраїлі — главам поколінь.

and Solomon and all the congregation went to the high place that was in Gabaon, where was God's tabernacle of witness, which Moses the servant of the Lord made in the wilderness.	І пішли Соломон і все зібрання з ним на висоту, що в Гаваоні, тому що там була Божа скинія зібрання, яку спорудив Мойсей, раб Господній, у пустелі.

But David had brought up the ark of God out of the city of Cariathiarim; for David had prepared a place for it, for he had pitched a tabernacle for it in Jerusalem.	Ковчег Божий приніс Давид з Кириаф-Іарима на місце, яке приготував для нього Давид, спорудивши для нього скинію в Єрусалимі.

And the brazen altar which Beseleel the son of Urias, the son of Or, had made, was there before the tabernacle of the Lord: and Solomon and the congregation enquired at it.	А мідний жертовник, який зробив Веселеїл, син Урія, сина Орового, залишався там, перед скинією Господньою, і знайшов його Соломон із зібранням.

And Solomon brought victims thither to the brazen altar that was before the Lord in the tabernacle, and offered upon it a thousand whole-burnt-offerings.	І там перед лицем Господа, на мідному жертовнику, що перед скинією зібрання, підніс Соломон тисячу всепалень.

In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, Ask what I shall give thee.	У ту ніч явився Бог Соломону і сказав йому: проси, що Мені дати тобі.

And Solomon said to God, Thou hast dealt very mercifully with my father David, and hast made me king in his stead.	І сказав Соломон Богу: Ти сотворив Давиду, батькові моєму, велику милість і поставив мене царем замість нього.

And now, O Lord God, let, I pray thee, thy name be established upon David my father; for thou hast made me king over a people numerous as the dust of the earth.	Нехай же сповниться, Господи Боже, слово Твоє до Давида, батька мого. Окільки Ти поставив мене царем над народом численним, як порох земний,

Now give me wisdom and understanding, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who shall judge this thy great people?	то нині дай мені премудрість і знання, щоб я умів виходити перед народом цим і входити, бо хто може управляти цим народом Твоїм великим?

And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thy heart, and thou hast not asked great wealth, nor glory, nor the life of thine enemies, and thou hast not asked long life; but hast asked for thyself wisdom and understanding, that thou mightest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:	І сказав Бог Соломону: за те, що це було на серці твоєму, і ти не просив багатства, маєтків і слави і душ ворогів твоїх, і також не просив ти багатьох днів, а просив собі премудрости і знання, щоб управляти народом Моїм, над яким Я поставив тебе царем,

I give thee this wisdom and understanding; and I will give thee wealth, and riches, and glory, so that there shall not have been any like thee among the kings before thee, neither shall there be such after thee.	премудрість і знання даються тобі, а багатство і маєтки і славу Я дам тобі такі, подібних до яких не бувало в царів раніше тебе і не буде після тебе.

And Solomon came from the high place that was in Gabaon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of witness, and reigned over Israel.	І прийшов Соломон з висоти, що в Гаваоні, від скинії зібрання, в Єрусалим і царював над Ізраїлем.

And Solomon collected chariots and horsemen: and he had fourteen hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen: and he set them in the cities of chariots, and the people were with the king in Jerusalem.	І набрав Соломон колісниць і вершників; і було в нього тисяча чотириста колісниць і дванадцять тисяч вершників; і він розмістив їх у колісничних містах і при царі в Єрусалимі.

And the king made silver and gold in Jerusalem to be as stones, and cedars in Judea as sycamores in the plain for multitude.	І зробив цар срібло і золото в Єрусалимі рівноцінним простому каменю, а кедри, за безліччю їх, зробив рівноцінними сикоморам, що на низьких місцях.

And Solomon imported horses from Egypt, and the charge of the king's merchants for going was as follows, and they traded,	Коней Соломону приводили з Єгипту і з Куви; купці царські з Куви одержували їх за гроші.

and went and brought out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred pieces of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty pieces of silver: and so they brought for all the kings of the Chettites, and for the kings of Syria by their means.	Колісниці одержували і доставляли з Єгипту кожну за шістсот сиклів срібла, а коня за сто п’ятдесят. У такий же спосіб вони руками своїми доставляли це всім царям хеттейським і царям арамейським.

And Solomon said that he would build a house to the name of the Lord, and a house for his kingdom.
