1
And he answered me, and said, Measure thou diligently within thyself: and when thou seest that a certain part of the signs are past, which have been told thee beforehand, И# tвэща ко2 мнЁ и3 речE: мёрzщь мёри врeмz въ себЁ самёмъ: и3 бyдетъ, повнегдA ўви1диши, є3гдA прeйдетъ чaсть нёкотораz знaменій, ±же предрэчє1на сyть,
2
2
then shalt thou understand, that it is the very time, wherein the Most High will visit the world which was made by him. тогдA ўразумёеши, ћкw то2 сaмое є4сть врeмz, въ нeже начнeтъ вhшній посэщaти вёкъ, и4же t негw2 сотворeнъ бhсть:
3
3
And when there shall be seen in the world earthquakes, disquietude of peoples, devices of nations, wavering of leaders, disquietude of princes, и4 є3гдA ќзритсz въ вёцэ зыбaніе мёстъ и3 людjй смущeніе,
4
4
then shalt thou understand, that the Most High spake of these things from the days that were aforetime from the beginning. тогдA ўразумёеши, ћкw њ си1хъ гlаше вhшній t днjй, и5же бhша пред8 тоб0ю t начaла:
5
5
For like as of all that is made in the world, the beginning is evident, and the end manifest; ћкоже бо всE, є4же сотворeно є4сть въ вёцэ, начaло и4мать, тaкw и3 скончaніе, и3 скончaніе є4сть kвлeно:
6
6
so also are the times of the Most High: the beginnings are manifest in wonders and mighty works, and the end in effects and signs. тaкw и3 вhшнzгw временA нач†ла и3мёютъ kвлє1нна въ чудесёхъ и3 си1лахъ, и3 сконч†ніz въ дэsніи и3 знaменіихъ:
7
7
And every one that shall be saved, and shall be able to escape by his works, or by faith, whereby he hath believed, и3 бyдетъ, всsкъ и4же спасeтсz и3 и4же возм0жетъ и3збэжaти дэлaми свои1ми и3 вёрою, є4юже вёровасте,
8
8
shall be preserved from the said perils, and shall see my salvation in my land, and within my borders, which I have sanctified for me from the beginning.
9
9
Then shall they be amazed, who now have abused my ways: and they that have cast them away despitefully shall dwell in torments.
10
10
For as many as in their life have received benefits, and yet have not known me; и5же бо не познaша мS, живyще благодэ‰ніz получи1вше,
11
11
and as many as have scorned my law, while they had yet liberty, and, when as yet place of repentance was open unto them, understood not, but despised it; и3 и5же возненави1дэша зак0нъ м0й, є3гдA є3щE бsху и3мёюще своб0ду и3 є3гдA є3щE бsше и5мъ tвeрсто покаsніz мёсто, не ўразумёша, но ўничижи1ша,
12
12
the same must know it after death by torment.
13
13
And therefore be thou no longer curious how the ungodly shall be punished; but inquire how the righteous shall be saved, they whose the world is, and for whom the world was created. ты2 u5бо ктомY не бyди любопhтливъ, кaкw нечести1віи мyчитисz бyдутъ, но и3спытyй, кaкw прaведніи спасyтсz, и3 и4хже вёкъ, и3 рaди кот0рыхъ вёкъ, и3 когдA.
14
14
And I answered and said, И# tвэщaхъ и3 рек0хъ:
15
15
I have said before, and now do speak, and will speak it also hereafter, that there are more of them that perish, than of them that will be saved: дрeвле глаг0лахъ и3 нн7э глаг0лю и3 п0слэ возглаг0лю, ћкw мн0жае сyть, и5же поги1бнутъ, нeжели и5же спасyтсz, ћкоже ўмножaютсz вHлны над8 кaплю.
16
16
like as a wave is greater than a drop.
17
17
And he answered me, saying, Like as the field is, so also the seed; and as the flowers are, such are the colors also; and such as the work is, such also is the judgment thereon; and as is the husbandman, so is his threshing floor also. For there was a time in the world, каковA ни1ва, такwвA и3 сёмена, и3 какwвы2 цвёти, такwвы2 и3 пестрwты2, и3 как0въ дёлатель, таково2 и3 дёло, как0въ земледёлецъ, таково2 и3 земледёлство, понeже врeмz бsше вёка:
18
18
even then when I was preparing for them that now live, before the world was made for them to dwell in; and then no man spake against me, и3 нн7э є3гдA бhхъ ўготовлsющь тBмъ, и5же нн7э сyть, прeжде нeже бhсть вёкъ, въ нeмже бы њбитaли: и3 никт0же проти1ву речE мнЁ:
19
19
for there was not any: but now they that are created in this world that is prepared, both with a table that faileth not, and a law which is unsearchable, are corrupted in their manners.
20
20
So I considered my world, and, lo, it was destroyed, and my earth, and, lo, it was in peril, because of the devices that were come into it.
21
21
And I saw, and spared them, but not greatly, and saved me a grape out of a cluster, and a plant out of a great forest.
22
22
Let the multitude perish then, which was born in vain; and let my grape be saved, and my plant; for with great labor have I made them perfect.
23
23
Nevertheless if thou wilt cease yet seven days more, (howbeit thou shalt not fast in them, тh же, ѓще и3 є3щE спyстиши сeдмь днjй и3нёхъ, но да не пости1шисz въ ни1хъ,
24
24
but shalt go into a field of flowers, where no house is built, and eat only of the flowers of the field; and thou shalt taste no flesh, and shalt drink no wine, but shalt eat flowers only;) п0йдеши на п0ле цвётное, и3дёже д0мъ нёсть создaнъ, и3 снёси т0кмw t цвэтHвъ полевhхъ, и3 мsса да не вкyсиши, и3 вінA не піeши, но т0кмw цвёты:
25
25
and pray unto the Most High continually, then will I come and talk with thee.
26
26
So I went my way, like as he commanded me, into the field which is called Ardat; and there I sat among the flowers, and did eat of the herbs of the field, and the meat of the same satisfied me.
27
27
And it came to pass after seven days that I lay upon the grass, and my heart was vexed again, like as before: И# бhсть по седми1хъ днeхъ, и3 ѓзъ лежaхъ на сёнэ, и3 сeрдце моE пaки смущaшесz, ћкоже прeжде.
28
28
and my mouth was opened, and I began to speak before the Lord Most High, and said, И# tверз0шасz ўстA мо‰, и3 начaхъ глаг0лати пред8 вhшнимъ и3 рек0хъ:
29
29
O Lord, thou didst show thyself among us, unto our fathers in the wilderness, when they went forth out of Egypt, and when they came into the wilderness, where no man treadeth and that beareth no fruit; q, гDи! тS нaмъ показyzй показaлсz є3си2 nтцє1мъ нaшымъ въ пустhни непрох0днэй и3 непл0днэй, є3гдA бsху и3сходsще t є3гЂпта,
30
30
and thou didst say, Hear me, thou Israel; and mark my words, O seed of Jacob.
31
31
For, behold, I sow my law in you, and it shall bring forth fruit in you, and ye shall be glorified in it forever.
32
32
But our fathers, who received the law, kept it not, and observed not the statutes: and the fruit of the law did not perish, neither could it, for it was thine; и4бо nтцы2 вaши пріeмлюще зак0нъ не сохрани1ша и3 закHннаz мо‰ не соблюд0ша, и3 бhсть пл0дъ зак0на неродsщь: нижe бо можaше, понeже тв0й бЁ:
33
33
yet they that received it perished, because they kept not the thing that was sown in them.
34
34
And, lo, it is a custom, that when the ground hath received seed, or the sea a ship, or any vessel meat or drink, and when it cometh to pass that that which is sown, or that which is launched, и3 сE, њбhчай є4сть, да є3гдA пріи1метъ землS сёмz, и3ли2 корaбль м0ре, и3ли2 сосyдъ нёкій пи1щу и3ли2 питіE: є3гдA бyдетъ повреждeно то2, въ нeмже сёzно є4сть, и3ли2 то2, въ нeмже постaвлено є4сть,
35
35
or the things which have been received, should come to an end, these come to an end, but the receptacles remain: yet with us it hath not happened so. кyпнw и3 то2, є4же насёzно и3ли2 постaвлено є4сть, и3ли2 ±же прі‰та сyть, и3стреблsютсz, и3 воспрі‰таz ўжE не пребывaютъ пред8 нaми: нaмъ же не тaкw сотворeно бhсть:
36
36
For we that have received the law shall perish by sin, and our heart also which received it.
37
37
Notwithstanding the law perisheth not, but remaineth in its honor.
38
38
And when I spake these things in my heart, I looked about me with mine eyes, and upon the right side I saw a woman, and, behold, she mourned and wept with a loud voice, and was much grieved in mind, and her clothes were rent, and she had ashes upon her head. И# є3гдA глаг0лахъ сі‰ въ сeрдцы моeмъ, воззрёхъ nчи1ма мои1ма и3 ви1дэхъ женY въ деснёй странЁ, и3 сE, сіS рыдaше и3 плaкаше со глaсомъ вели1кимъ и3 душeю болsше ѕэлw2, и3 њдэsніе є3S раздрaно, и3 пeпелъ на главЁ є3S.
39
39
Then let I my thoughts go wherein I was occupied, and turned me unto her, И# њстaвихъ помышлє1ніz, въ кот0рыхъ бhхъ мhслz, и3 њбрати1хсz къ нeй
40
40
and said unto her, Wherefore weepest thou? and why art thou grieved in thy mind? и3 рек0хъ є4й: њ чeмъ плaчеши, и3 что2 боли1ши душeю;
41
41
And she said unto me, Let me alone, my Lord, that I may bewail myself, and add unto my sorrow, for I am sore vexed in my mind, and brought very low.
42
42
And I said unto her, What aileth thee? Tell me.
43
43
She said unto me, I thy servant was barren, and had no child, though I had a husband thirty years.
44
44
And every hour and every day these thirty years did I make my prayer to the Most High day and night.
45
45
And it came to pass after thirty years that God heard me thy handmaid, and looked upon my low estate, and considered my trouble, and gave me a son: and I rejoiced in him greatly, I and my husband, and all my neighbors: and we gave great honor unto the Mighty.
46
46
And I nourished him with great travail.
47
47
So when he grew up, and I came to take him a wife, I made him a feast day.
