Главa }

1
And he answered me, and said, The Most High hath made this world for many, but the world to come for few. И# tвэщA ко мнЁ и3 речE: сeй вёкъ сотвори1лъ вhшній мн0гихъ рaди, бyдущій же рaди мaлыхъ:
2
2
I will tell thee now a similitude, Ezra; As when thou asketh the earth, it shall say unto thee, that it giveth very much mold whereof earthen vessels are made, and little dust that gold cometh of: even so is the course of the present world. рекy же тебЁ ўподоблeніе, є4здро: кaкw же вопроси1ши земли2, и3 речeтъ ти2, ћкw дaстъ земли2 мн0гw б0лши, t неsже бyдетъ скудeльное, мaлw же прaха, toнyдуже злaто бывaетъ: тaкw и3 дэsніе настоsщагw вёка:
3
3
There are many created, but few shall be saved.
4
4
And I answered and said, Swallow down understanding then, O my soul, and let my heart devour wisdom.
5
5
For thou art come hither without thy will, and departest when thou wouldest not: for there is given thee no longer space than only to live a short time.
6
6
O Lord, that art over us, suffer thy servant, that we may pray before thee, and give us seed unto our heart, and culture to our understanding, that there may come fruit of it, whereby every one shall live that is corrupt, who beareth the likeness of a man. q, гDи! ѓще не попyстиши рабY твоемY, да пом0лимсz пред8 тоб0ю, и3 дaси нaмъ сёмz въ сeрдце и3 чyвству њчищeніе, toнyдуже пл0дъ бhлъ бы, гдЁ жи1ти возм0жетъ всsкъ растлённый, и4же носи1ти бyдетъ мёсто человёка;
7
7
For thou art alone, and we all one workmanship of thy hands, like as thou hast said.
8
8
Forasmuch as thou quickenest the body that is fashioned now in the womb, and givest it members, thy creature is preserved in fire and water, and nine months doth thy workmanship endure thy creature which is created in her. и3 кaкw нн7э въ ложеснaхъ создано2 є4сть тёло, и3 подаeши состaвы; содержи1тсz во nгни2 и3 въ водЁ твоE творeніе, и3 дeвzть мцcъ терпи1тъ твоE создaніе твою2 твaрь, ћже въ нeмъ созданA є4сть:
9
9
But that which keepeth and that which is kept shall both be kept by thy keeping: and when the womb giveth up again that which hath grown in it, сaмое же є4же храни1тъ, и3 є4же храни1тсz, nбоS сохранsтсz: сохранє1наz же нёкогда пaки и3здаю1тъ ложеснA, ±же въ ни1хъ раст0ша:
10
10
thou hast commanded that out of the parts of the body, that is to say, out of the breasts, be given milk, which is the fruit of the breasts, повелёлъ бо є3си2 t сaмыхъ члeнwвъ, си1рэчь t сосцє1въ и3здаsти млеко2 плодY сосцє1въ,
11
11
that the thing which is fashioned may be nourished for a time, and afterward thou shalt order it in thy mercy. да питaетсz то2, є4же создано2 є4сть, дaже до врeмене нёкоегw, и3 пот0мъ ўпрaвиши є3го2 твоемY млcрдію:
12
12
Yea, thou hast brought it up in thy righteousness, and nurtured it in thy law, and corrected it with thy judgment.
13
13
And thou shalt mortify it as thy creature, and quicken it as thy work.
14
14
If therefore thou shalt lightly and suddenly destroy him who with so great labor was fashioned by thy commandment, to what purpose was he made?
15
15
Now therefore I will speak; touching man in general, thou knowest best; but touching thy people will I speak, for whose sake I am sorry; и3 нн7э, гDи, возглаг0лю: њ всsцэмъ человёцэ ты2 пaче вёси, и3 њ лю1дехъ твои1хъ, њ ни1хже болёзную,
16
16
and for thine inheritance, for whose cause I mourn; and for Israel, for whom I am heavy; and for the seed of Jacob, for whose sake I am troubled; и3 њ наслёдіи твоeмъ, є3гHже рaди ѓзъ рыдaю, и3 рaди ї}лz, њ нeмже ск0рбенъ є4смь, и3 їaкwва рaди, њ нeмже ѓзъ болёзную:
17
17
therefore will I begin to pray before thee for myself and for them: for I see the falls of us that dwell in the land; сегw2 рaди начнY моли1тисz пред8 тоб0ю за мS и3 за ни1хъ, ћкw ви1жду падeніе нaше, и5же њбитaемъ на земли2:
18
18
but I have heard the swiftness of the judgment which is to come.
19
19
Therefore hear my voice, and understand my saying, and I will speak before thee. The beginning of the words of Ezra, before he was taken up. And he said, сегw2 рaди ўслhши глaсъ м0й и3 разумёй сл0во моE, и3 возглаг0лю пред8 тоб0ю.
20
20
O Lord, thou that abidest forever, whose eyes are exalted, and whose chambers are in the air; И# рёхъ: гDи, и4же њбитaеши во вёкъ, є3гHже џчи вознесє1нны на вы6шнzz и3 на воздyсэ,
21
21
whose throne is inestimable; whose glory may not be comprehended; before whom the hosts of angels stand with trembling, и3 є3гHже пrт0лъ безцённый є4сть и3 слaва непостижи1ма, є3мyже предстоsтъ вHи ѓгGлстіи съ трeпетомъ, и4хже сохранeніе въ вётрэ и3 nгни2 њбращaетсz, є3гHже сл0во и4стинно и3 гlг0лы вёчніи,
22
22
at whose bidding they are changed to wind and fire; whose word is sure, and sayings constant; whose ordinance is strong, and commandment fearful; є3гHже повелёніе крёпко и3 разсмотрeніе стрaшно, є3гHже зрaкъ и3зсушaетъ бє1здны и3 гнёвъ растаzвaти твори1тъ г0ры и3 и4стина свидётелствуетъ:
23
23
whose look drieth up the depths, and whose indignation maketh the mountains to melt away, and whose truth beareth witness: ўслhши моли1тву рабA твоегw2 и3 во ўшесA пріими2 молeніе творeніz твоегw2:
24
24
hear, O Lord, the prayer of thy servant, and give ear to the petition of thy handiwork; є3гдa бо живY, глаг0лати бyду, и3 є3гдA разумёю, tвэщaти бyду: не смотри2 на людjй твои1хъ грэхи2, но и5же тебЁ во и4стинэ слyжатъ,
25
25
attend unto my words, for so long as I live I will speak, and so long as I have understanding I will answer.
26
26
O look not upon the sins of thy people; but on them that have served thee in truth, ни помhсли и5же пред8 тоб0ю лжи1вw пожи1ша, но помzни2 си1хъ, и5же по в0ли твоeй стрaхъ познaша,
27
27
Regard not the doings of them that deal wickedly, but of them that have kept thy covenants in affliction.
28
28
Think not upon those that have walked feignedly before thee; but remember them that have willingly known thy fear.
29
29
Let it not be thy will to destroy them that have lived like cattle; but look upon them that have clearly taught thy law.
30
30
Take thou no indignation at them that are deemed worse than beasts; but love them that have always put their trust in thy glory. ћкw мы2 и3 nтцы2 нaши таковhми болёзньми и3счезaемъ,
31
31
For we and our fathers have passed our lives in ways that bring death: but thou because of us sinners art called merciful. тh же рaди нaсъ грёшныхъ млcрдъ наречeшисz:
32
32
For if thou hast a desire to have mercy upon us, then shalt thou be called merciful, to us, namely, that have no works of righteousness. ѓще бо пожелaеши, да нaсъ поми1луеши, тогдA млcрдъ наречeшисz, не и3мёющымъ нaмъ дёлъ прaвды:
33
33
For the just, who have many good works laid up with thee, shall for their own deeds receive reward. прaведніи бо, и4хже сyть дэлA мнHга предстaвлєнна, t свои1хъ дёлъ пріи1мутъ мздY:
34
34
For what is man, that thou shouldest take displeasure at him? or what is a corruptible race, that thou shouldest be so bitter toward it? чт0 бо є4сть человёкъ, да на него2 прогнёваешисz; и3ли2 р0дъ растлёнъ, да тaкw њгорчeнъ бyдеши на него2;
35
35
For in truth there is no man among them that is born, but he hath dealt wickedly; and among them that have lived there is none that hath not done amiss.
36
36
For in this, O Lord, thy righteousness and thy goodness shall be declared, if thou be merciful unto them that have no store of good works. въ т0мъ бо возвэсти1тсz прaвда твоS и3 бlгость твоS, гDи, є3гдA млcрдъ бyдеши и5мъ, и5же не и3мёютъ существA благи1хъ дёлъ.
37
37
Then answered he me, and said, Some things hast thou spoken aright, and according unto thy words so shall it come to pass. И# tвэщA ко мнЁ и3 речE: прaвw глаг0лалъ є3си2 нBкаz, и3 по словесє1мъ твои6мъ тaкw и3 бyдетъ:
38
38
For indeed I will not think on the fashioning of them that have sinned, or their death, their judgment, or their destruction; понeже не и4стиннw помhшлю на здaніе си1хъ, и5же согрэши1ша прeжде смeрти, прeжде судA, прeжде погублeніz,
39
39
but I will rejoice over the framing of the righteous, their pilgrimage also, and the salvation, and the reward, that they shall have.
40
40
Like therefore as I have spoken, so shall it be.
41
41
For as the husbandman soweth much seed upon the ground, and planteth many trees, and yet not all that is sown shall come up in due season, neither shall all that is planted take root: even so they that are sown in the world shall not all be saved.
42
42
I answered then and said, if I have found favor, let me speak before thee.
43
43
Forasmuch as the husbandman’s seed, if it come not up, seeing that it hath not received thy rain in due season, or if it be corrupted through too much rain, so perisheth;
44
44
likewise man, who is formed with thy hands, and is called thine own image, because he is made like unto thee, for whose sake thou hast formed all things, even him hast thou made like unto the husbandman’s seed. тaкw погибaетъ под0бнэ и3 человёкъ, и4же рукaма твои1ма создaнъ бhсть, и3 ты2 є3мY w4бразъ и3меновaлсz є3си2: понeже под0бенъ є3си2 є3мY, є3гHже рaди вс‰ создaлъ є3си2 и3 ўпод0билъ є3си2 сёмени земледёлцеву:
45
45
Be not wroth with us, but spare thy people, and have mercy upon thine inheritance; for thou hast mercy upon thine own creation.
46
46
Then answered he me, and said, Things present are for them that now be, and things to come for such as shall be hereafter.
47
47
For thou comest far short that thou shouldest be able to love my creature more than I. But thou hast brought thyself full nigh unto the unrighteous. Let this never be. мн0гw бо тебЁ њстaнетъ, да м0жеши возлюби1ти моE сотворeніе пaче менє2, тебё же чaстw и3 самомY приближaхсz, къ непрaвєднымъ же никогдA:
48
48
Yet in this shalt thou be admirable unto the Most High;
49
49
in that thou hast humbled thyself, as it becometh thee, and hast not judged thyself worthy to be among the righteous, so as to be much glorified. ћкw смири1лсz є3си2 ћкоже подобaетъ тебЁ, и3 не суди1лъ є3си2 тебE, да междY прaведными мн0гw слaвишисz:
50
50
For many grievous miseries shall befall them that in the last times dwell in the world, because they have walked in great pride.
51
51
But understand thou for thyself, and of such as be like thee seek out the glory.
52
52
For unto you is paradise opened, the tree of life planted, the time to come is prepared, plenteousness is made ready, a city is built, and rest is allowed, goodness is perfected, wisdom being perfect beforehand. вaмъ бо tвeрстъ є4сть рaй, насаждeно є4сть дрeво жи1зни, пред8угот0вано є4сть бyдушее врeмz, гот0во є4сть и3з8oби1ліе, создaнъ є4сть грaдъ, и3скушeнъ є4сть пок0й, совершeнна є4сть благостhнz и3 совершeнна премyдрость:
53
53
The root of evil is sealed up from you, weakness is done away from you, and death is hidden; Hades and corruption are fled into forgetfulness: к0рень ѕлA знaменанъ є4сть t вaсъ, нeмощь и3 м0ліе t вaсъ скрhто є4сть, и3 во ѓдъ бэжи1тъ растлёніе въ забвeніи:
54
54
sorrows are passed away, and in the end is shown the treasure of immortality.
55
55
Therefore ask thou no more questions concerning the multitude of them that perish.
56
56
For when they had received liberty, they despised the Most High, thought scorn of his law, and forsook his ways.
57
57
Moreover they have trodden down his righteous, є3щe же и3 прaведныхъ є3гw2 попрaша,
58
58
and said in their heart, that there is no God; yea, and that knowing they must die.
59
59
For as the things aforesaid shall receive you, so thirst and pain which are prepared shall receive them: for the Most High willed not that men should come to nought: ћкоже бо вaсъ пріи1мутъ ±же предрэчє1нна сyть, тaкw тёхъ жaжда и3 мучє1ніz, ±же ўготHвана сyть: и4бо не хотsше человёка погуби1ти,
60
60
but they that are created have themselves defiled the name of him that made them, and were unthankful unto him who prepared life for them.
61
61
And therefore is my judgment now at hand, сегw2 рaди сyдъ м0й нн7э приближaетсz,
62
62
which I have not shown unto all men, but unto thee, and a few like thee. Then answered I and said, ±же не всBмъ показaхъ, т0кмw тебЁ и3 тебЁ подHбнымъ не мнHгимъ.
63
63
Behold, O Lord, now hast thou shown me the multitude of the wonders, which thou wilt do in the last times: but at what time, thou hast not shown me.
