| And he entered and was passing through Jericho. | Καὶ εἰσελθὼν διήρχετο τὴν Ἰεριχώ. |
|

| And behold, a man called by name Zacchaeus; and he was a chief publican, and he was rich. | Καὶ ἰδού, ἀνὴρ ὀνόματι καλούμενος Ζακχαῖος, καὶ αὐτὸς ἦν ἀρχιτελώνης, καὶ οὗτος ἦν πλούσιος. |

| And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the crowd, because he was little of stature. | Καὶ ἐζήτει ἰδεῖν τὸν Ἰησοῦν τίς ἐστιν, καὶ οὐκ ἠδύνατο ἀπὸ τοῦ ὄχλου, ὅτι τῇ ἡλικίᾳ μικρὸς ἦν. |

| And he ran on before, and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. | Καὶ προδραμὼν ἔμπροσθεν ἀνέβη ἐπὶ συκομωραίαν ἵνα ἴδῃ αὐτόν· ὅτι ἐκείνης ἔμελλεν διέρχεσθαι. |

| And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for today I must abide at thy house. | Καὶ ὡς ἦλθεν ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον, ἀναβλέψας ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶδεν αὐτόν, καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν, Ζακχαῖε, σπεύσας κατάβηθι· σήμερον γὰρ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ σου δεῖ με μεῖναι. |

| And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. | Καὶ σπεύσας κατέβη, καὶ ὑπεδέξατο αὐτὸν χαίρων. |
|

| And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, He is gone in to lodge with a man that is a sinner. | Καὶ ἰδόντες πάντες διεγόγγυζον, λέγοντες ὅτι Παρὰ ἁμαρτωλῷ ἀνδρὶ εἰσῆλθεν καταλῦσαι. |

| And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord, Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have wrongfully exacted aught of any man, I restore fourfold. | Σταθεὶς δὲ Ζακχαῖος εἶπεν πρὸς τὸν κύριον, Ἰδού, τὰ ἡμίση τῶν ὑπαρχόντων μου, κύριε, δίδωμι τοῖς πτωχοῖς· καὶ εἴ τινός τι ἐσυκοφάντησα, ἀποδίδωμι τετραπλοῦν. |

| And Jesus said unto him, Today is salvation come to this house, forasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham. | Εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτὸν ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι Σήμερον σωτηρία τῷ οἴκῳ τούτῳ ἐγένετο, καθότι καὶ αὐτὸς υἱὸς Ἀβραάμ ἐστιν. |

| For the Son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost. | Ἦλθεν γὰρ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ζητῆσαι καὶ σῶσαι τὸ ἀπολωλός. |
|

| And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they supposed that the kingdom of God was immediately to appear. | Ἀκουόντων δὲ αὐτῶν ταῦτα, προσθεὶς εἶπεν παραβολήν, διὰ τὸ ἐγγὺς αὐτὸν εἶναι Ἱερουσαλήμ, καὶ δοκεῖν αὐτοὺς ὅτι παραχρῆμα μέλλει ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ ἀναφαίνεσθαι. |

| He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country, to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. | Εἶπεν οὖν, Ἄνθρωπός τις εὐγενὴς ἐπορεύθη εἰς χώραν μακράν, λαβεῖν ἑαυτῷ βασιλείαν, καὶ ὑποστρέψαι. |

| And he called ten servants of his, and gave them ten pounds, and said unto them, Trade ye herewith till I come. | Καλέσας δὲ δέκα δούλους ἑαυτοῦ, ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς δέκα μνᾶς, καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς, Πραγματεύσασθε ἕως ἔρχομαι. |

| But his citizens hated him, and sent an embassage after him, saying, We will not that this man reign over us. | Οἱ δὲ πολῖται αὐτοῦ ἐμίσουν αὐτόν, καὶ ἀπέστειλαν πρεσβείαν ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ, λέγοντες, Οὐ θέλομεν τοῦτον βασιλεῦσαι ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς. |

| And it came to pass, when he was come back again, having received the kingdom, that he commanded these servants, unto whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know who had gained what by trading. | Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἐπανελθεῖν αὐτὸν λαβόντα τὴν βασιλείαν, καὶ εἶπεν φωνηθῆναι αὐτῷ τοὺς δούλους τούτους, οἷς ἔδωκεν τὸ ἀργύριον, ἵνα γνῷ τίς τί διεπραγματεύσατο. |

| And the first came before him, saying, Lord, thy pound hath made ten pounds more. | Παρεγένετο δὲ ὁ πρῶτος, λέγων, Κύριε, ἡ μνᾶ σου προσειργάσατο δέκα μνᾶς. |
|

| And he said unto him, Well done, thou good servant: because thou wast found faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities. | Καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ, Εὖ, ἀγαθὲ δοῦλε· ὅτι ἐν ἐλαχίστῳ πιστὸς ἐγένου, ἴσθι ἐξουσίαν ἔχων ἐπάνω δέκα πόλεων. |
|

| And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath made five pounds. | Καὶ ἦλθεν ὁ δεύτερος, λέγων, Κύριε, ἡ μνᾶ σου ἐποίησεν πέντε μνᾶς. |
|

| And he said unto him also, Be thou also over five cities. | Εἶπεν δὲ καὶ τούτῳ, Καὶ σὺ γίνου ἐπάνω πέντε πόλεων. |
|

| And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I kept laid up in a napkin: | Καὶ ἕτερος ἦλθεν, λέγων, Κύριε, ἰδού, ἡ μνᾶ σου, ἣν εἶχον ἀποκειμένην ἐν σουδαρίῳ· |

| for I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that which thou laidst not down, and reapest that which thou didst not sow. | ἐφοβούμην γάρ σε, ὅτι ἄνθρωπος αὐστηρὸς εἶ· αἴρεις ὃ οὐκ ἔθηκας, καὶ θερίζεις ὃ οὐκ ἔσπειρας. |
|

| And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I am an austere man, taking up that which I laid not down, and reaping that which I did not sow; | Λέγει δὲ αὐτῷ, Ἐκ τοῦ στόματός σου κρινῶ σε, πονηρὲ δοῦλε. ᾜδεις ὅτι ἐγὼ ἄνθρωπος αὐστηρός εἰμι, αἴρων ὃ οὐκ ἔθηκα, καὶ θερίζων ὃ οὐκ ἔσπειρα· |

| then wherefore gavest thou not my money into a bank, and I at my coming should have required it with interest? | καὶ διὰ τί οὐκ ἔδωκας τὸ ἀργύριόν μου ἐπὶ τράπεζαν, καὶ ἐγὼ ἐλθὼν σὺν τόκῳ ἂν ἔπραξα αὐτό; |

| And he said unto them that stood by, Take away from him the pound, and give it unto him that hath the ten pounds. | Καὶ τοῖς παρεστῶσιν εἶπεν, Ἄρατε ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ τὴν μνᾶν, καὶ δότε τῷ τὰς δέκα μνᾶς ἔχοντι. |

| And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds. | Καὶ εἶπον αὐτῷ, Κύριε, ἔχει δέκα μνᾶς. |
|

|
| For I say unto you, that unto everyone that hath shall be given; but from him that hath not, even that which he hath shall be taken away from him. | Λέγω γὰρ ὑμῖν ὅτι παντὶ τῷ ἔχοντι δοθήσεται· ἀπὸ δὲ τοῦ μὴ ἔχοντος, καὶ ὃ ἔχει ἀρθήσεται ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ. |

| But those mine enemies, that would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay before me. | Πλὴν τοὺς ἐχθρούς μου ἐκείνους, τοὺς μὴ θελήσαντάς με βασιλεῦσαι ἐπ’ αὐτούς, ἀγάγετε ὧδε, καὶ κατασφάξατε ἔμπροσθέν μου. |

| And when he had thus spoken, he went on before, going up to Jerusalem. | Καὶ εἰπὼν ταῦτα, ἐπορεύετο ἔμπροσθεν, ἀναβαίνων εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα. |
|

| And it came to pass, when he drew nigh unto Bethsphage and Bethany, at the mount that is called Olivet, he sent two of his disciples, | Καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤγγισεν εἰς Βηθσφαγὴ καὶ Βηθανίαν πρὸς τὸ ὄρος τὸ καλούμενον Ἐλαιῶν, ἀπέστειλεν δύο τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ, |

| saying, Go your way into the village over against you; in which as ye enter ye shall find a colt tied, whereon no man ever yet sat: loose him, and bring him. | εἰπών, Ὑπάγετε εἰς τὴν κατέναντι κώμην· ἐν ᾗ εἰσπορευόμενοι εὑρήσετε πῶλον δεδεμένον, ἐφ’ ὃν οὐδεὶς πώποτε ἀνθρώπων ἐκάθισεν· λύσαντες αὐτὸν ἀγάγετε. |

| And if anyone ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, The Lord hath need of him. | Καὶ ἐάν τις ὑμᾶς ἐρωτᾷ, Διὰ τί λύετε; οὕτως ἐρεῖτε αὐτῷ ὅτι Ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ χρείαν ἔχει. |

| And they that were sent went away, and found even as he had said unto them. | Ἀπελθόντες δὲ οἱ ἀπεσταλμένοι εὗρον καθὼς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς. |
|

| And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt? | Λυόντων δὲ αὐτῶν τὸν πῶλον, εἶπον οἱ κύριοι αὐτοῦ πρὸς αὐτούς, Τί λύετε τὸν πῶλον; |
|

| And they said, The Lord hath need of him. | Οἱ δὲ εἶπον, Ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ χρείαν ἔχει. |
|

|
| And they brought him to Jesus: and they threw their garments upon the colt, and set Jesus thereon. | Καὶ ἤγαγον αὐτὸν πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν· καὶ ἐπιρρίψαντες ἑαυτῶν τὰ ἱμάτια ἐπὶ τὸν πῶλον, ἐπεβίβασαν τὸν Ἰησοῦν. |

| And as he went, they spread their garments in the way. | Πορευομένου δὲ αὐτοῦ, ὑπεστρώννυον τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ. |
|

|
| And as he was now drawing nigh, even at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen; | Ἐγγίζοντος δὲ αὐτοῦ ἤδη πρὸς τῇ καταβάσει τοῦ ὄρους τῶν Ἐλαιῶν, ἤρξαντο ἅπαν τὸ πλῆθος τῶν μαθητῶν χαίροντες αἰνεῖν τὸν θεὸν φωνῇ μεγάλῃ περὶ πασῶν ὧν εἶδον δυνάμεων, |

| saying, Blessed is the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. | λέγοντες, Εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος βασιλεὺς ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου· εἰρήνη ἐν οὐρανῷ, καὶ δόξα ἐν ὑψίστοις. |

| And some of the Pharisees from the multitude said unto him, Teacher, rebuke thy disciples. | Καί τινες τῶν Φαρισαίων ἀπὸ τοῦ ὄχλου εἶπον πρὸς αὐτόν, Διδάσκαλε, ἐπιτίμησον τοῖς μαθηταῖς σου. |

| And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these shall hold their peace, the stones will cry out. | Καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, Λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐὰν οὗτοι σιωπήσωσιν, οἱ λίθοι κεκράξονται. |

| And when he drew nigh, he saw the city and wept over it, | Καὶ ὡς ἤγγισεν, ἰδὼν τὴν πόλιν, ἔκλαυσεν ἐπ’ αὐτῇ, |
|

| saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hidden from thine eyes. | λέγων ὅτι Εἰ ἔγνως καὶ σύ, καί γε ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ σου ταύτῃ, τὰ πρὸς εἰρήνην σου· νῦν δὲ ἐκρύβη ἀπὸ ὀφθαλμῶν σου. |

| For the days shall come upon thee, when thine enemies shall cast up a bank about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, | Ὅτι ἥξουσιν ἡμέραι ἐπὶ σέ, καὶ περιβαλοῦσιν οἱ ἐχθροί σου χάρακά σοι, καὶ περικυκλώσουσίν σε, καὶ συνέξουσίν σε πάντοθεν, |

| and shall dash thee to the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation. | καὶ ἐδαφιοῦσίν σε καὶ τὰ τέκνα σου ἐν σοί, καὶ οὐκ ἀφήσουσιν ἐν σοὶ λίθον ἐπὶ λίθῳ· ἀνθ’ ὧν οὐκ ἔγνως τὸν καιρὸν τῆς ἐπισκοπῆς σου. |

| And he entered into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought, | Καὶ εἰσελθὼν εἰς τὸ ἱερόν, ἤρξατο ἐκβάλλειν τοὺς πωλοῦντας ἐν αὐτῷ καὶ ἀγοράζοντας, |

| saying unto them, It is written, My house is a house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of robbers. | λέγων αὐτοῖς, Γέγραπται, Ὁ οἶκός μου οἶκος προσευχῆς ἐστίν· ὑμεῖς δὲ αὐτὸν ἐποιήσατε σπήλαιον λῃστῶν. |

| And he was teaching daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the principal men of the people sought to destroy him: | Καὶ ἦν διδάσκων τὸ καθ’ ἡμέραν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ· οἱ δὲ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς ἐζήτουν αὐτὸν ἀπολέσαι, καὶ οἱ πρῶτοι τοῦ λαοῦ· |

| and they could not find what they might do; for the people all hung upon him, listening. | καὶ οὐχ εὕρισκον τὸ τί ποιήσωσιν, ὁ λαὸς γὰρ ἅπας ἐξεκρέματο αὐτοῦ ἀκούων. |
