| to know wisdom and instruction, and to perceive words of understanding; | щоб пізнати мудрість і наставляння, зрозуміти слова розуму; |
|

|
| to receive also hard sayings, and to understand true justice, and how to direct judgment; | засвоїти правила розсудливости, правосуддя, суду і правоти; |
|

|
| that he might give subtlety to the simple, and to the young man discernment and understanding. | простим дати розважливість, юнаку — знання і розсудливість; |

|
| For by the hearing of these a wise man will be wiser, and the man of understanding will gain direction; | послухає мудрий — і примножить пізнання, і розумний знайде мудрі поради; |
|

|
| and will understand a parable, and a dark speech; the sayings of the wise also, and riddles. | щоб розуміти притчу і хитромудру мову, слова мудреців і загадки їхні. |

| The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and there is good understanding to all that practise it: and piety toward God is the beginning of discernment; but the ungodly will set at nought wisdom and instruction. | Початок мудрости — страх Господній; [добре розуміння в усіх, кого воно водить; а благоговіння до Бога — початок розуміння;] нерозумні тільки нехтують мудрість і наставляння. |

| Hear, my son, the instruction of thy father, and reject not the rules of thy mother. | Слухай, сину мій, повчання батька твого і не відкидай заповіту матері твоєї, |

| For thou shalt receive for thine head a crown of graces, and a chain of gold round thy neck. | тому що це — прекрасний вінок для голови твоєї і прикраса для шиї твоєї. |

|
| My son, let not ungodly men lead thee astray, neither consent thou to them. | Сину мій! якщо будуть схиляти тебе грішники, не погоджуйся; |
|

|
| If they should exhort thee, saying, Come with us, partake in blood, and let us unjustly hide the just man in the earth: | якщо будуть говорити: «йди з нами, зробимо засідку для убивства, підстережемо непорочного без вини, |
|

|

|
| and let us swallow him alive, as Hades would, and remove the memorial of him from the earth: | живих проковтнемо їх, як пекло, і — цілих, як тих, що сходять у могилу; |
|

|
| let us seize on his valuable property, and let us fill our houses with spoils: | наберемо всякого дорогоцінного майна, наповнимо доми наші здобич чю; |

|
| but do thou cast in thy lot with us, and let us all provide a common purse, and let us have one pouch: | жереб твій ти будеш кидати разом з нами, склад один буде в усіх нас», — |

| go not in the way with them, but turn aside thy foot from their paths: | сину мій! не ходи в путь з ними, утримай ногу твою від путі їх, |

| for nets are not without cause spread for birds. | У очах усіх птахів даремно розставляються тенета, |
|

|

|
| For they that are concerned in murder store up evils for themselves; and the overthrow of transgressors is evil. | а роблять за сідку для їхньої крови і підстерігають їхні душі. |
|

|

|
| These are the ways of all that perform lawless deeds; for by ungodliness they destroy their own life. | Такі путі кожного, хто жадає чужого добра: воно віднімає життя у того, хто заволодів ним. |
|

|
| Wisdom sings aloud in passages, and in the broad places speaks boldly. | Премудрість виголошує на вулиці, на площах підносить голос свій, |

|
| And she makes proclamation on the top of the walls, and sits by the gates of princes; and at the gates of the city boldly says, | у головних місцях зібрань проповідує, біля входів у міські ворота говорить промову свою: |
|

|
| So long as the simple cleave to justice, they shall not be ashamed: but the foolish being lovers of haughtiness, having become ungodly have hated knowledge, and are become subject to reproofs. | «доки, невігласи, будете любити неуцтво? доки буйні будуть тішитися буйством? доки нерозумні будуть ненавидіти знання? |

| Behold, I will bring forth to you the utterance of my breath, and I will instruct you in my speech. | Зверніться до мого викривання: ось, я виллю на вас дух мій, сповіщу вам слова мої. |

| Since I called, and ye did not hearken; and I spoke at length, and ye gave no heed; | Я кликала, і ви не послухалися; простягала руку мою, і не було того, хто слухає; |
|

|
| but ye set at nought my counsels, and disregarded my reproofs; | і ви відкинули всі мої поради, і викривань моїх не прийняли. |
|

|
| therefore I also will laugh at your destruction; and I will rejoice against you when ruin comes upon you: | За те і я посміюся з вашої загибелі; порадію, коли прийде на вас жах; |
|

|
| yea when dismay suddenly comes upon you, and your overthrow shall arrive like a tempest; and when tribulation and distress shall come upon you, or when ruin shall come upon you. | коли прийде на вас жах, як буря, і лихо, як вихор, принесеться на вас; коли осягнуть вас скорбота і тиснява. |

| For it shall be that when ye call upon me, I will not hearken to you: wicked men shall seek me, but shall not find me. | Тоді будуть кликати мене, і я не почую; зранку будуть шукати мене, і не знайдуть мене. |

| For they hated wisdom, and did not choose the word of the Lord: | За те, що вони зненавиділи знання і не обрали для себе страху Господнього, |

|
| neither would they attend to my counsels, but derided my reproofs. | не прийняли поради моєї, знехтували усі викривання мої; |
|

|

|
| Therefore shall they eat the fruits of their own way, and shall be filled with their own ungodliness. | за те і будуть вони споживати від плодів шляхів своїх і насичуватися від помислів їх. |
|

|
| For because they wronged the simple, they shall be slain; and an inquisition shall ruin the ungodly. | Тому що впертість невігласів уб’є їх, і безтурботність нерозумних погубить їх, |
|

|
| But he that hearkens to me shall dwell in confidence, and shall rest securely from all evil. | а той, хто слухає мене, буде жити безпечно і спокійно, не боячись зла». |

| My son, if thou wilt receive the utterance of my commandment, and hide it with thee; | Сину мій! якщо ти приймеш слова мої і збережеш при собі заповіді мої, |

|
| thine ear shall hearken to wisdom; thou shalt also apply thine heart to understanding, and shalt apply it to the instruction of thy son. | так що вухо твоє зробиш уважним до мудрости і нахилиш серце твоє до роздумування; |
|

|
3
|
| For if thou shalt call to wisdom, and utter thy voice for understanding; | якщо будеш закликати знання і звертатися до розуму; |
|
4
|
4
|
| and if thou shalt seek it as silver, and search diligently for it as for treasures; | якщо будеш шукати його, як срібла, і відшукувати його, як скарб, |
|
5
|
5
|
| then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. | то зрозумієш страх Господній і знайдеш пізнання про Бога. |
|

|
| For the Lord gives wisdom; and from his presence come knowledge and understanding, | Тому що Господь дає мудрість; з уст Його — знання і розум; |
|

|
| and he treasures up salvation for them that walk uprightly: he will protect their way; | Він зберігає для праведних спасіння; Він — щит для тих, хто ходить непорочно; |
|

|
| that he may guard the righteous ways: and he will preserve the way of them that fear him. | Він охороняє путі правди й оберігає стежки святих Своїх. |
|

|
| Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment; and shalt direct all thy course aright. | Тоді ти зрозумієш правду і правосуддя і прямоту, усякий добрий шлях. |
|

|
| For if wisdom shall come into thine understanding, and discernment shall seem pleasing to thy soul, | Коли мудрість увійде в серце твоє, і знання буде приємне душі твоїй, |
|

|
| good counsel shall guard thee, and holy understanding shall keep thee; | тоді розсудливість буде оберігати тебе, розум буде охороняти тебе, |
|

|

|
| to deliver thee from the evil way, and from the man that speaks nothing faithfully. | щоб спасти тебе від шляху злого, від людини, яка говорить неправду, |
|

|

|
| Alas for those who forsake right paths, to walk in ways of darkness; | від тих, які залишають путі прямі, щоб ходити шляхами темряви; |
|
14
|
14
|
| who rejoice in evils, and delight in wicked perverseness; | від тих, які радіють, чинячи зло, захоплюються злою розпустою, |
|
15
|
15
|
| whose paths are crooked, and their courses winding; | шляхи яких криві, і які блукають на стежках своїх; |
|
16
|
16
|
| to remove thee far from the straight way, and to estrange thee from a righteous purpose. My son, let not evil counsel overtake thee, | щоб спасти тебе від дружини іншого, від чужої, яка промовляє солодкі слова свої, |
|

|
| of her who has forsaken the instruction of her youth, and forgotten the covenant of God. | яка залишила керівника юности своєї і забула завіт Бога свого. |
|

|

|
| For she has fixed her house near death, and guided her wheels near Hades with the giants. | Дім її веде до смерти, і шляхи її — до мерців; |
|
19
|
19
|
| None that go by her shall return, neither shall they take hold of right paths, for they are not apprehended of the years of life. | ніхто з тих, що ввійшли до неї, не повертається і не вступає на путь життя. |
|

|

|
| For had they gone in good paths, they would have found the paths of righteousness easy. | Тому ходи шляхом добрих і тримайся стежок праведників, |
|

|
| For the upright shall dwell in the earth, and the holy shall be left behind in it. | бо праведні будуть жити на землі, і непорочні будуть перебувати на ній; |
|
22
|
22
|
| The paths of the ungodly shall perish out of the earth, and transgressors shall be driven away from it. | а беззаконні будуть знищені з землі, і віроломні викорінені з неї. |

|
| My son, forget not my laws; but let thine heart keep my words: | Сину мій! повчання мого не забувай, і заповіді мої нехай зберігає серце твоє; |
|
2
|
2
|
| for length of existence, and years of life, and peace, shall they add to thee. | бо довготи днів, літ життя і миру вони додадуть тобі. |
|

|
3
|
| Let not mercy and truth forsake thee; but bind them about thy neck: | Милість і істина нехай не залишають тебе: обв’яжи ними шию твою, напиши їх на скрижалі серця твого, |
|

|
4
|
| so shalt thou find favour: and do thou provide things honest in the sight of the Lord, and of men. | і знайдеш милість і благовоління в очах Бога і людей. |
|

|
5
|
| Trust in God with all thine heart; and be not exalted in thine own wisdom. | Уповай на Господа всім серцем твоїм, і не покладайся на розум твій. |
|

|

|
| In all thy ways acquaint thyself with her, that she may rightly direct thy paths. | У всіх путях твоїх пізнавай Його, і Він направить стежки твої. |
|

|

|
| Be not wise in thine own conceit; but fear God, and depart from all evil. | Не будь мудрецем в очах твоїх; бійся Господа і віддаляйся від зла: |
|
8
|
8
|
| Then shall there be health to thy body, and good keeping to thy bones. | це буде здоров’ям для тіла твого і споживою для кісток твоїх. |
|

|

|
| Honour the Lord with thy just labours, and give him the first of thy fruits of righteousness: | Шануй Господа від майна твого і від початків усіх прибутків твоїх, |
|
10
|
10
|
| that thy storehouses may be completely filled with corn, and that thy presses may burst forth with wine. | і наповняться скарбниці твої до надлишку, і точила твої будуть переливатися новим вином. |
|

|
11
|
| My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: | Покарання Господнього, сину мій, не відкидай, і не тяготися викриванням Його; |
|
12
|
12
|
| for whom the Lord loves, he rebukes, and scourges every son whom he receives. | бо кого любить Господь, того карає і благоволить до того, як батько до сина свого. |
|
13
|
13
|
| Blessed is the man who has found wisdom, and the mortal who knows prudence. | Блаженний муж, який здобув мудрість, і людина, яка придбала розум, — |
|
14
|
14
|
| For it is better to traffic for her, than for treasures of gold and silver. | тому що надбання її краще за придбання срібла, і прибутку від неї більше, ніж від золота: |
|
15
|
15
|
| And she is more valuable than precious stones: no evil thing shall resist her: she is well known to all that approach her, and no precious thing is equal to her in value. | вона дорожче за дорогоцінне каміння; [ніяке зло не може противитися їй; вона добре відома всім, хто наближається до неї,] і ніщо з бажаного тобою не зрівняється з нею. |

| For length of existence and years of life are in her right hand; and in her left hand are wealth and glory: | Довголіття — у правиці її, а в лівій (руці) у неї — багатство і слава; [з уст її виходить правда; закон і милість вона на язиці носить;] |

| out of her mouth proceeds righteousness, and she carries law and mercy upon her tongue. | |
|

|
| Her ways are good ways, and all her paths are peaceful. | путі її — путі приємні, і всі стежки її — мирні. |
|

|
| She is a tree of life to all that lay hold upon her; and she is a secure help to all that stay themselves on her, as on the Lord. | Вона — древо життя для тих, які здобувають її, — і блаженні, які зберігають її! |
|

|

|
| God by wisdom founded the earth, and by prudence he prepared the heavens. | Господь премудрістю заснував землю, небеса утвердив розумом; |
|

|
20
|
| By understanding were the depths broken up, and the clouds dropped water. | Його премудрістю розкрилися безодні, і хмари кроплять росою. |
|

|
| My son, let them not pass from thee, but keep my counsel and understanding: | Сину мій! не випускай їх з очей твоїх; зберігай розсудливість і розважливість, |
|

|

|
| that thy soul may live, and that there may be grace round thy neck; | і вони будуть життям для душі твоєї і прикрасою для шиї твоєї. |

| and it shall be health to thy flesh, and safety to thy bones: | |
|

|

|
| that thou mayest go confidently in peace in all thy ways, and that thy foot may not stumble. | Тоді безпечно підеш шляхом твоїм, і нога твоя не спіткнеться. |
|
24
|
24
|
| For if thou rest, thou shalt be undismayed; and if thou sleep, thou shalt slumber sweetly. | Коли ляжеш спати, — не будеш боятися; і коли заснеш, — сон твій приємним буде. |
|
25
|
25
|
| And thou shalt not be afraid of alarm coming upon thee, neither of approaching attacks of ungodly men. | Не убоїшся несподіваного страху і пагуби від нечестивих, коли вона прийде; |
|

|

|
| For the Lord shall be over all thy ways, and shall establish thy foot that thou be not moved. | тому що Господь буде упованням твоїм і збереже ногу твою від уловлення. |
|
27
|
27
|
| Forbear not to do good to the poor, whensoever thy hand may have power to help him. | Не відмовляй у благодіянні нужденному, коли рука твоя в силі зробити його. |
|

|
| Say not, Come back another time, to-morrow I will give; while thou art able to do him good: for thou knowest not what the next day will bring forth. | Не говори другові твоєму: «піди і прийди знову, і завтра я дам», коли ти маєш при собі. [Тому що ти не знаєш, що принесе прийдешній день.] |

| Devise not evil against thy friend, living near thee and trusting in thee. | Не замишляй проти ближнього твого зла, коли він без побоювання живе з тобою. |

| Be not ready to quarrel with a man without a cause, lest he do thee some harm. | Не сварися з людиною без причини, коли вона не зробила зла тобі. |

|
| Procure not the reproaches of bad men, neither do thou covet their ways. | Не змагайся з людиною, яка чинить насилля, і не обирай жодного зі шляхів її; |
|

|
| For every transgressor is unclean before the Lord; neither does he sit among the righteous. | тому що мерзота перед Господом розпусний, а з праведними у Нього спілкування. |
|

|
| The curse of God is in the houses of the ungodly; but the habitations of the just are blessed. | Прокляття Господнє на домі нечестивого, а житло благочестивих Він благословляє. |
|

|
| The Lord resists the proud; but he gives grace to the humble. | Якщо з кощунників Він насміхається, то смиренним дає благодать. |

|
| The wise shall inherit glory; but the ungodly have exalted their own dishonour. | Мудрі успадковують славу, а нерозумні — ганьбу. |

| Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. | Слухайте, діти, настановлення батька, і пильнуйте, щоб навчитися розуму, |

| For I give you a good gift; forsake ye not my law. | тому що я дав вам добре вчення. Не залишайте заповіді моєї. |

|
| For I also was a son obedient to my father, and loved in the sight of my mother: | Бо і я був син у батька мого, і єдиний у матері моєї, яка ніжно любила мене, |

|
| who spoke and instructed me, saying, Let our speech be fixed in thine heart, keep our commandments, forget them not: | і він учив мене і говорив мені: нехай утримає серце твоє слова мої; зберігай заповіді мої, і живи. |
|

|
| and do not neglect the speech of my mouth. | Здобувай мудрість, здобувай розум; не забувай цього і не відхиляйся від слів вуст моїх. |
|

|
| And forsake it not, and it shall cleave to thee: love it, and it shall keep thee. | Не залишай її, і вона буде охороняти тебе; люби її, і вона буде оберігати тебе. |
|

|
| Secure it, and it shall exalt thee: honour it, that it may embrace thee; | Високо цінуй її, і вона піднесе тебе; вона прославить тебе, якщо ти приліпишся до неї; |

|
| that it may give unto thy head a crown of graces, and may cover thee with a crown of delight. | покладе на голову твою прекрасний вінок, доставить тобі чудовий вінець. |

|
| Hear, my son, and receive my words; and the years of thy life shall be increased, that the resources of thy life may be many. | Слухай, сину мій, і прийми слова мої, — і примножаться тобі літа життя. |

|
| For I teach thee the ways of wisdom; and I cause thee to go in right paths. | Я вказую тобі путь мудрости, веду тебе стежками прямими. |
|

|
| For when thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not be distressed. | Коли підеш, не буде утрудненим хід твій, і коли побіжиш, не спіткнешся. |
|

|
| Take hold of my instruction; let it not go,—but keep it for thyself for thy life. | Міцно тримайся наставляння, не залишай, зберігай його, тому що воно — життя твоє. |
|

|
| Go not in the ways of the ungodly, neither covet the ways of transgressors. | Не вступай на стежку нечестивих і не ходи шляхом злих; |
|
15
|
15
|
| In whatever place they shall pitch their camp, go not thither; but turn from them, and pass away. | залиш його, не ходи ним, ухилися від нього і пройди мимо; |
|
16
|
16
|
| For they cannot sleep, unless they have done evil: their sleep is taken away, and they rest not. | тому що вони не заснуть, якщо не зроблять зла; пропадає сон у них, якщо вони не доведуть кого до падіння; |
|

|
| For these live upon the bread of ungodliness, and are drunken with wine of transgression. | бо вони їдять хліб беззаконня і п’ють вино крадіння. |

|
| But the ways of the righteous shine like light; they go on and shine, until the day be fully come. | Путь праведних — як світило променисте, яке більше і більше світлішає до повного дня. |

|
| But the ways of the ungodly are dark; they know not how they stumble. | Путь же беззаконних — як темрява; вони не знають, об що спіткнуться. |
|

|
| My son, attend to my speech; and apply thine ear to my words: | Сину мій! до слів моїх дослухайся, і до промов моїх прихили вухо твоє; |

|
| that thy fountains may not fail thee; keep them in thine heart. | нехай не відходять вони від очей твоїх; зберігай їх усередині серця твого: |
|

|

|
| For they are life to those that find them, and health to all their flesh. | тому що вони життя для того, хто знайшов їх, і здоров’я для всього тіла його. |

|
| Keep thine heart with the utmost care; for out of these are the issues of life. | Більше за все бережене зберігай серце твоє, тому що з нього джерела життя. |

|
| Remove from thee a froward mouth, and put far away from thee unjust lips. | Відкинь від себе облудність уст, і лукавство язика віддали від себе. |
|

|
| Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids assent to just things. | Очі твої нехай прямо дивляться, і вії твої нехай будуть спрямовані прямо перед тобою. |
|

|
| Make straight paths for thy feet, and order thy ways aright. | Обміркуй стежку для ноги твоєї, і всі путі твої нехай будуть твердими. |
|

|
27
|
| Turn not aside to the right hand nor to the left, but turn away thy foot from an evil way: | Не ухиляйся ні праворуч, ні ліворуч; віддали ногу твою від зла, |

| for God knows the ways on the right hand, but those on the left are crooked: | |
|

|
| and he will make thy ways straight, and will guide thy steps in peace. | |

| My son, attend to my wisdom, and apply thine ear to my words; | Сину мій! дослухайся до мудрости моєї, і прихили вухо твоє до розуму мого, |

|
| that thou mayest keep good understanding, and the discretion of my lips gives thee a charge. Give no heed to a worthless woman; | щоб дотриматися розсудливости, і щоб вуста твої зберегли знання. [Не слухай улесливої жінки;] |

|
| for honey drops from the lips of a harlot, who for a season pleases thy palate: | тому що мед виливають вуста чужої дружини, і м’якша за єлей мова її; |
|

|
4
|
| but afterwards thou wilt find her more bitter than gall, and sharper than a two-edged sword. | але наслідки від неї гіркі, як полинь, гострі, як меч двогострий; |
|

|
5
|
| For the feet of folly lead those who deal with her down to the grave with death; and her steps are not established. | ноги її сходять до смерти, стопи її досягають пекла. |
|

|
| For she goes not upon the paths of life; but her ways are slippery, and not easily known. | Якби ти захотів осягнути стежку життя її, то путі її непостійні, і ти не узнаєш їх. |

|
| Now then, my son, hear me, and make not my words of none effect. | Отже, діти, слухайте мене і не відступайте від слів уст моїх. |

| Remove thy way far from her; draw not near to the doors of her house: | Тримай далі від неї путь твою і не підходь близько до дверей дому її, |

|
| lest thou give away thy life to others, and thy substance to the merciless: | щоб здоров’я твого не віддати іншим і років твоїх мучителеві; |

|
| lest strangers be filled with thy strength, and thy labours come into the houses of strangers; | щоб не насичувалися силою твоєю чужі, і труди твої не були для чужого дому. |
|

|
| and thou repent at last, when the flesh of thy body is consumed, | І ти будеш стогнати після, коли плоть твоя і тіло твоє будуть виснажені, — |

| and thou shalt say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart avoided reproofs! | і скажеш: «навіщо я ненавидів наставляння, і серце моє зневажало викривання, |

|
| I heard not the voice of him that instructed me, and taught me, neither did I apply mine ear. | і я не слухав голоси вчителів моїх, не прихиляв вуха мого до наставників моїх: |

|
| I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly. | ледь не впав я у всяке зло серед зібрання і суспільства!» |
|

|
| Drink waters out of thine own vessels, and out of thine own springing wells. | Пий воду з твоєї водойми і ту, яка тече з твого колодязя. |
|

| By reason of the sins of ungodly men quarrels arise; but a wise man will quell them. | Коли країна відступить від закону, тоді багато в ній начальників; а при розумному і знаючому мужі вона довговічна. |

| A bold man oppresses the poor by ungodly deeds. As an impetuous and unprofitable rain, | Чоловік бідний і який гнобить слабких, те саме, що злива, яка змиває хліб. |

| so they that forsake the law praise ungodliness; but they that love the law fortify themselves with a wall. | Відступники від закону хвалять нечестивих, а ті, що зберігають закон, обурюються на них. |

| An unbelieving man judges rashly: but he that trusts in the Lord will act carefully. | Пихатий розпалює сварку, а хто уповає на Господа, буде благоденствувати. |

| He that trusts to a bold heart, such an one is a fool: but he that walks in wisdom shall be safe. | Хто сподівається на себе, той нерозумний; а хто ходить в мудрості, той буде цілий. |

| He that gives to the poor shall not be in want: but he that turns away his eye from him shall be in great distress. | Хто дає убогому, не зубожіє; а хто закриває очі свої від нього, на тому багато проклять. |

| In the places of ungodly men the righteous mourn: but in their destruction the righteous shall be multiplied. | Коли підносяться нечестиві, люди ховаються, а коли вони падають, примножуються праведники. |

| When the righteous are praised, the people will rejoice: but when the ungodly rule, men mourn. | Коли примножуються праведники, веселиться народ, а коли панує нечестивий, народ стогне. |

| When a man loves wisdom, his father rejoices: but he that keeps harlots will waste wealth. | Чоловік, який любить мудрість, радує батька свого; а хто знається з блудницями, той марнує майно. |

| For she employs all her living for her husband's good. | Є рід, який чистий в очах своїх, тоді як не омитий від нечистот своїх. |

| She strongly girds her loins, and strengthens her arms for work. | Око, що насміхається з батька і нехтує покірністю до матері, виклюють ворони дольні, і пожеруть пташенята орлині! |

| And she finds by experience that working is good; and her candle goes not out all night. | Три речі незбагненні для мене, і чотирьох я не розумію: |

| She reaches forth her arms to needful works, and applies her hands to the spindle. | путі орла на небі, путі змія на скелі, путі корабля серед моря і путі чоловіка до дівчини. |

| And she opens her hands to the needy, and reaches out fruit to the poor. | Така путь і дружини перелюбної; поїла й обтерла рот свій, і говорить: «я нічого поганого не зробила». |

| Her husband is not anxious about those at home when he tarries anywhere abroad: for all her household are clothed. | Від трьох трясеться земля, чотирьох вона не може носити: |

| She makes for her husband clothes of double texture, and garments for herself of fine linen and scarlet. | раба, коли він стає царем; нерозумного, коли він досита їсть хліб; |

| And her husband becomes a distinguished person in the gates, when he sits in council with the old inhabitants of the land. | ганебну жінку, коли вона виходить заміж, і служницю, коли вона займає місце пані своєї. |

| She makes fine linens, and sells girdles to the Chananites: she opens her mouth heedfully and with propriety, and controls her tongue. | Ось чотири малих на землі, але вони мудріші за мудрих: |
