| Whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your pleasures that war in your members? | Звідкіль у вас ворожнеча і чвари? Чи не звідси, від пристрастей ваших, що воюють у членах ваших? |

| Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and covet, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war; ye have not, because ye ask not. | Жадаєте і не маєте; вбиваєте і заздрите‚ і не можете досягти? Сваритесь і ворогуєте — і не маєте, бо не просите, |

| Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may spend it in your pleasures. | просите — і не одержуєте, тому що просите не на добре, а щоб ужити для пристрастей ваших. |

|
| Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore would be a friend of the world maketh himself an enemy of God. | Перелюбники і перелюбниці! Чи не знаєте, що дружба зі світом є ворожнеча проти Бога? Бо хто хоче бути другом світові, той стає ворогом Богові. |

| Or think ye that the scripture speaketh in vain? The spirit which dwelt in us longeth unto envying. | Чи ви думаєте, що даремно Писання говорить: «Ревнощів жадає дух, який вселився в нас»? |

| But he giveth more grace. Wherefore the scripture saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble. | Але тим більшу дає благодать; тому й сказано: «Бог гордим противиться, а смиренним дає благодать». |

| Be subject therefore unto God; but resist the devil, and he will flee from you. | Отже, покоріться Боговi; противтеся дияволові, і він утече від вас. |

| Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double-minded. | Hаблизьтеся до Бога, і наблизиться до вас; очистіть руки, грішники, виправте серця, двоєдушні. |

| Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. | Страждайте, плачте і ридайте; сміх ваш нехай обернеться на плач і радість — на печаль. |

| Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall exalt you. | Смиріться перед Господом, і піднесе вас. |

| Speak not one against another, brethren. He that speaketh against a brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh against the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judgest the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. | Hе злословте один на одного, браття: бо хто злословить на брата або судить брата свого, той злословить на закон і судить закон: коли ж ти закон судиш, то ти не виконавець закону, а суддя. |

| One only is the lawgiver, even he who is able to save and to destroy: but who art thou that judgest another? | Один є Законодавець і Суддя, Який може спасти і погубити; а ти хто, що судиш ближнього? |

| Come now, ye that say, Today and tomorrow let us go into this city, and spend one year there, and trade, and get gain: | Тепер послухайте ви, що говорите: «Сьогодні або завтра підемо до такого-то міста, і проживемо там один рік, і будемо торгувати й одержувати прибуток»; |

| whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? For it will be a vapor that appeareth for a little time, and then also vanisheth away. | ви, які не знаєте, що станеться завтра; бо що таке ваше життя? Воно є пара, що з’являється на короткий час, а потім зникає. |

| For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, let us both live, and do this or that. | Замість того, щоб вам говорити: «Коли угодно буде Господеві і будемо живі, то зробимо те або інше», — |

| But now ye glory in your vauntings: all such glorying is evil. | ви ж нині хвалитесь у гордощах ваших; всяка така похвальба є зло. |

|
| To him therefore that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. | Отже, хто знає, як добро робити, і не робить, тому гріх. |
