Chapter 20	Глава 20

And Nabuthai the Jezraelite had a vineyard, near the threshingfloor of Achaab king of Samaria.	Венадад, цар Сирійський, зібрав усе своє військо, і з ним були тридцять два царі, і коні і колісниці, і пішов, обложив Самарію і воював проти неї.

And Achaab spoke to Nabuthai, saying, Give me thy vineyard, and I will have it for a garden of herbs, for it is near my house: and I will give thee another vineyard better than it; or if it please thee, I will give thee money, the price of this thy vineyard, and I will have it for a garden of herbs.	І послав послів до Ахава, царя Ізраїльського, у місто,

And Nabuthai said to Achaab, My God forbid me that I should give thee the inheritance of my fathers.	і сказав йому: так говорить Венадад: срібло твоє і золото твоє — мої, і дружини твої і кращі сини твої — мої.

And the spirit of Achaab was troubled, and he lay down upon his bed, and covered his face, and ate no bread.	І відповів цар Ізраїльський і сказав: нехай буде за словом твоїм, господарю мій царю: я і все моє — твоє.

And Jezabel his wife went in to him, and spoke to him, saying, Why is thy spirit troubled, and why dost thou eat no bread?	І знову прийшли посли і сказали: так говорить Венадад: я послав до тебе сказати: «срібло твоє, і золото твоє, і дружин твоїх, і синів твоїх віддай мені»;

And he said to her, Because I spoke to Nabuthai the Jezraelite, saying, Give me thy vineyard for money; or if thou wilt, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers.	тому я завтра, до цього часу, пошлю до тебе рабів моїх, щоб вони оглянули твій дім і доми тих, що служать при тобі, і все дороге для очей твоїх узяли у свої руки і винесли.

And Jezabel his wife said to him, Dost thou now thus act the king over Israel? arise, and eat bread, and be thine own master, and I will give thee the vineyard of Nabuthai the Jezraelite.	І скликав цар Ізраїльський усіх старійшин землі і сказав: зауважте і дивіться, він замишляє зло; коли він посилав до мене за дружинами моїми, і синами моїми, і сріблом моїм, і золотом моїм, я йому не відмовив.

And she wrote a letter in the name of Achaab, and sealed it with his seal, and sent the letter to the elders, and to the freemen who dwelt with Nabuthai.	І сказали йому всі старійшини і весь народ: не слухай і не погоджуйся.

And it was written in the letters, saying, Keep a fast, and set Naboth in a chief place among the people.	І сказав він послам Венадада: скажіть господареві моєму цареві: усе, щодо чого ти посилав у перший раз до раба твого, я готовий зробити, а цього не можу зробити. І пішли посли і віднесли йому відповідь.

And set two men, sons of transgressors, before him, and let them testify against him, saying, He blessed God and the king: and let them lead him forth, and stone him, and let him die.	І послав до нього Венадад сказати: нехай те і те зроблять мені боги, і ще більше зроблять, якщо пороху самарійського вистачить по жмені для всіх людей, які йдуть за мною.

And the men of his city, the elders, and the nobles who dwelt in his city, did as Jezabel sent to them, and as it had been written in the letters which she sent to them.	І відповів цар Ізраїльський і сказав: скажіть: нехай не хвалиться той, хто підперізується, як той, хто розперізується.

And they proclaimed a fast, and set Nabuthai in a chief place among the people.	Почувши це слово, Венадад, який пив разом з царями в наметах, сказав рабам своїм: облягайте місто. І вони облягли місто.

And two men, sons of transgressors, came in, and sat opposite him, and bore witness against him, saying, Thou hast blessed God and the king. And they led him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, and he died.	І ось, один пророк підійшов до Ахава, царя Ізраїльського, і сказав: так говорить Господь: чи бачиш усе це велике полчище? ось, Я сьогодні віддам його в руку твою, щоб ти знав, що Я Господь.

And they sent to Jezabel, saying, Nabuthai is stoned, and is dead.	І сказав Ахав: через кого? Він сказав: так говорить Господь: через слуг обласних начальників. І сказав [Ахав]: хто почне битву? Він сказав: ти.

And it came to pass, when Jezabel heard it, that she said to Achaab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Nabuthai the Jezraelite, who would not sell it to thee: for Nabuthai is not alive, for he is dead.	[Ахав] перелічив слуг обласних начальників, і знайшлося їх двісті тридцять два; після них перелічив увесь народ, усіх синів Ізраїлевих, сім тисяч.

And it came to pass, when Achaab heard that Nabuthai the Jezraelite was dead, that he rent his garments, and put on sackcloth. And it came to pass afterward, that Achaab arose and went down to the vineyard of Nabuthai the Jezraelite, to take possession of it.	І вони виступили опівдні. Венадад же напився доп’яну в наметах разом з царями, із тридцятьма двома царями, які допомагали йому.

And the Lord spoke to Eliu the Thesbite, saying,	І виступили спершу слуги обласних начальників. І послав Венадад, і донесли йому, що люди вийшли із Самарії.

Arise, and go down to meet Achaab king of Israel, who is in Samaria, for he is in the vineyard of Nabuthai, for he has gone down thither to take possession of it.	Він сказав: якщо за миром вийшли вони, то схопіть їх живими, і якщо на війну вийшли, також схопіть їх живими.

And thou shalt speak to him, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Forasmuch as thou hast slain and taken possession, therefore thus saith the Lord, In every place where the swine and the dogs have licked the blood of Nabuthai, there shall the dogs lick thy blood; and the harlots shall wash themselves in thy blood.	Вийшли з міста слуги обласних начальників, і військо за ними.

And Achaab said to Eliu, Hast thou found me, mine enemy? and he said, I have found thee: because thou hast wickedly sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger;	І вражав кожен супротивника свого; і побігли сиріяни, а ізраїльтяни погналися за ними. Венадад же, цар Сирійський, урятувався на коні з вершниками.
21	21
behold, I bring evil upon thee: and I will kindle a fire after thee, and I will utterly destroy every male of Achaab, and him that is shut up and him that is left in Israel.	І вийшов цар Ізраїльський, і взяв коней і колісниці, і зробив велику поразку серед сиріян.
22	22
And I will make thy house as the house of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, and as the house of Baasa son of Achia, because of the provocations wherewith thou hast provoked me, and caused Israel to sin.	І підійшов пророк до царя Ізраїльського і сказав йому: піди, зміцнися, і знай і дивися, що тобі робити, бо через рік цар Сирійський знову піде проти тебе.

And the Lord spoke of Jezabel, saying, The dogs shall devour her within the fortification of Jezrael.	Слуги царя Сирійського сказали йому: Бог їхній є Бог гір, [а не Бог долин,] тому вони подолали нас; якщо ж ми будемо битися з ними на рівнині, то обов’язково подолаємо їх.

Him that is dead of Achaab in the city shall the dogs eat, and him that is dead of him in the field shall the birds of the sky eat.	Отже, ось що зроби: віддали царів, кожного з місця його, і замість них постав областеначальников;

But Achaab did wickedly, in that he sold himself to do that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, as his wife Jezabel led him astray.	і набери собі війська стільки, скільки впало в тебе, і коней, скільки було коней, і колісниць, скільки було колісниць; і будемо битися з ними на рівнині, і тоді точно подолаємо їх. І послухався він голосу їхнього і зробив так.

And he did very abominably in following after the abominations, according to all that the Amorite did, whom the Lord utterly destroyed from before the children of Israel.	Коли минув рік, Венадад зібрав сиріян і виступив до Афека, щоб битися з Ізраїлем.

And because of the word, Achaab was pierced with sorrow before the Lord, and he both went weeping, and rent his garment, and girt sackcloth upon his body, and fasted; he put on sackcloth also in the day that he smote Nabuthai the Jezraelite, and went his way.	Зібрані були і сини Ізраїлеві і, взявши продовольство, пішли назустріч їм. І розташувалися сини Ізраїлеві станом перед ними, наче два невеликі стада кіз, а сиріяни наповнили землю.

And the word of the Lord came by the hand of his servant Eliu concerning Achaab, and the Lord said,	І підійшов чоловік Божий, і сказав цареві Ізраїльському: так говорить Господь: за те, що сиріяни говорять: «Господь є Бог гір, а не Бог долин», Я все це велике полчище віддам у руку твою, щоб ви знали, що Я — Господь.

Hast thou seen how Achaab has been pricked to the heart before me? I will not bring on the evil in his days, but in his son's days will I bring on the evil.	І стояли станом одні навпроти других сім днів. У сьомий день почалася битва, і сини Ізраїлеві уразили сто тисяч піших сиріян в один день.
