| Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ according to the commandment of God our Savior, and the Lord Jesus Christ our hope; | Павло, апостол Ісуса Христа за повелінням Бога, Спасителя нашого, і Господа Ісуса Христа, надії нашої, |

| unto Timothy, my true child in faith: Grace, mercy, peace, from God our Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. | Тимофієві, істинному синові у вірі: благодать, милість, мир від Бога Отця нашого і Христа Ісуса, Господа нашого. |

| As I exhorted thee to tarry at Ephesus, when I was going into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge certain men not to teach a different doctrine, | Йдучи до Македонії, я просив тебе залишитися в Ефесі і умовляти деяких, щоб вони не навчали іншого |

|
| neither to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questionings, rather than a dispensation of God which is in faith; so do I now. | і не займалися байками та нескінченними родоводами, які більше викликають суперечки, ніж Боже утвердження у вірі. |

| But the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and faith unfeigned: | Метою ж умовляння є любов від щирого серця і доброї совісти та нелицемірної віри, |

| from which things some having swerved have turned aside unto vain talking; | від чого відступивши, деякі вдались до марнослів’я, |
|

|
| desiring to be teachers of the law, though they understand neither what they say, nor whereof they confidently affirm. | бажаючи бути законовчителями, але не розуміють ні того, про що говорять, ні того, що стверджують. |

| But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully, | А ми знаємо, що закон добрий, якщо хто законно вживає його, |

| as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and unruly, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, | знаючи, що закон призначений не для праведника, а для беззаконних і непокірних, нечестивих і грішників, неправедних і нечистих, для кривдників батька і матері, для людиновбивць, |

| for fornicators, for abusers of themselves with men, for menstealers, for liars, for false swearers, and if there be any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine; | для блудників, мужоложців, розбійників‚ наклепників, скотоложців, неправдомовців, клятвопорушників та для всіх, що противляться здоровому вченню, |

| according to the gospel of the glory of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. | за славним благовістям блаженного Бога, яке мені довірене. |

| And I thank him that enabled me, even Christ Jesus our Lord, for that he counted me faithful, appointing me to his service; | Дякую Христу Ісусу, Господеві нашому, Який дав мені силу, що Він визнав мене вірним, поставивши на служіння, |

| though I was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: howbeit I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief; | мене, колишнього хулителя, і гонителя, і кривдника, але помилуваного тому, що так чинив за невіданням‚ у невірствi; |
|

| and the grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. | благодать же Господа нашого Ісуса Христа відкрилася в мені щедро з вірою і любов’ю у Христі Ісусі. |

| Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief: | Вірне і всякого прийняття гідне слово, що Христос Ісус прийшов у світ спасти грішників, серед яких я перший. |

| howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me as chief might Jesus Christ show forth all his long-suffering, for an example of them that should thereafter believe on him unto eternal life. | Та для того я й помилуваний, щоб Ісус Христос на мені першому показав усе довготерпіння, як приклад для тих, які будуть вірувати в Hього, для життя вічного. |

| Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. | Цареві ж віків нетлінному, невидимому, єдиному, премудрому Богові честь і слава на віки вічні. Амінь. |

| This charge I commit unto thee, my child Timothy, according to the prophecies which led the way to thee, that by them thou mayest war the good warfare; | Передаю тобі, сину мій Тимофію, згідно з пророцтвами, що були про тебе раніш, такий заповіт, щоб ти воював згідно з ними, як добрий воїн, |

| holding faith and a good conscience; which some having thrust from them made shipwreck concerning the faith: | маючи віру і добру совість, яку деякі відкинувши, зазнали загибелі корабля у вірі, |
|

|
| of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I delivered unto Satan, that they might be taught not to blaspheme. | такі Гіменей і Олександр, яких я передав сатані, щоб вони навчилися не хулити Бога. |
