| For every high priest, being taken from among men, is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: | Бо кожний первосвященик, який з людей обирається, для людей настановляється на служіння Богові, щоб приносити дари й жертви за гріхи, |

|
| who can bear gently with the ignorant and erring, for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity; | який може бути поблажливий до неуків та заблудливих, тому що й сам обкладений неміччю, |
|

|
| and by reason hereof is bound, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. | і тому він повинен як за народ, так і за себе приносити жертви за гріхи. |

|
| And no man taketh the honor unto himself, but when he is called of God, even as was Aaron. | І ніхто сам собою не приймає цієї чести, але покликаний Богом, як і Аарон. |
|

| So Christ also glorified not himself to be made a high priest, but he that spake unto him, Thou art my Son, This day have I begotten thee: | Так і Христос не Сам Собі присвоїв славу бути Первосвящеником, але Той, Хто сказав Йому: «Ти — Син Мій, Я нині породив Тебе»; |

| as he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest forever After the order of Melchizedek. | як і в іншому місці говорить: «Ти — Священик повік за чином Мелхиседековим». |

| Who in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear, | Він, у дні плоті Своєї, з великим голосінням та сльозами приніс молитви і благання Тому, Хто міг спасти Його від смерти; і був почутим за Своє благоговіння; |

| though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered; | хоч Він і Син, однак стражданнями звик до послуху, |

| and having been made perfect, he became unto all them that obey him the author of eternal salvation; | і, вдосконалившись, став для всіх слухняних Йому причиною спасіння вічного, |

| named of God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek. | бувши названим від Бога Первосвящеником за чином Мелхиседековим. |

| Of whom we have many things to say, and hard of interpretation, seeing ye are become dull of hearing. | Про це слід було б говорити багато; але важко витлумачити, бо ви зробилися нездатними слухати. |
|

|
| For when by reason of the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need again that one teach you which are the rudiments of the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food. | Бо, зважаючи на вік, вам належало бути вчителями; але вас знов треба вчити перших початків слова Божого, і для вас потрібне молоко, а не тверда страва. |

| For everyone that partaketh of milk is without experience of the word of righteousness; for he is a babe. | Кожен, хто годується молоком, несвідомий у слові правди, бо він немовля; |

|
| But solid food is for full-grown men, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil. | а тверда страва властива дорослим, у яких довгим навчанням почуття привчені розрізняти добро і зло. |
