And the king levied a tax upon his kingdom both by land and sea.	Написa же цaрь по всемY цaрствію своемY, є4же на земли2 и3 на м0ри,

And as for his strength and valour, and the wealth and glory of his kingdom, behold, they are written in the book of the Persians and Medes, for a memorial.	и3 си1лу свою2, и3 мyжествєннаz и3справлє1ніz, богaтство же и3 слaву цaрствіz своегw2: сE, пи6сана сyть въ кни1зэ царeй пeрсскихъ и3 ми1дскихъ, на пaмzть.

And Mardochæus was viceroy to king Artaxerxes, and was a great man in the kingdom, and honoured by the Jews, and passed his life beloved of all his nation.	Мардохeй бо вторhй бЁ по цари2 ґртаxeрxэ, и3 вели1къ бЁ во цaрствіи и3 прослaвленъ t їудє1й и3 люби1мь, повёдаше содBzннаz всемY kзhку своемY. Е#сfи1рь є4сть рэкA, ю4же поS цaрь и3 сотвори2 цари1цу: двa же ѕм‡а, ѓзъ є4смь и3 ґмaнъ: kзhцы же (сyть), и5же собрaшасz и3стреби1ти и4мz їудewвъ: kзhкъ же м0й сeй є4сть ї}ль, вопи1вшій ко бGу, и3 спас0шасz: и3 сп7сE гDь лю1ди сво‰ и3 и3збaви нaсъ гDь t всёхъ ѕHлъ си1хъ: и3 сотвори2 бGъ знaмєніz и3 чудесA вє1ліz, ±же не бhша во kзhцэхъ. Сегw2 рaди сотвори2 двA жрє1біz, є3ди1нъ лю1демъ б9іимъ и3 є3ди1нъ всBмъ kзhкwмъ: и3 и3зыд0ста двA жрє1біz сі‰ въ чaсъ и3 врeмz и3 въ дeнь судA пред8 бGомъ во всёхъ kзhцэхъ: и3 помzнY гDь бGъ лю1ди сво‰ и3 њправдA достоsніе своE: и3 бyдутъ и5мъ днjе сjи (прaздничніи) въ мцcъ ґдaръ, въ четвертыйнaдесzть и3 пzтыйнaдесzть дeнь мцcа тогHжде, съ соб0ромъ и3 рaдостію и3 съ весeліемъ пред8 бGомъ, въ р0дъ во вёки въ лю1дехъ свои1хъ ї}ли. Въ лёто четвeртое цaрствіz птоломeева и3 клеопaтры, внесE досіfeй, и4же глаг0лашесz бhти свzщeнникъ и3 леvjтъ, и3 птоломeй сhнъ є3гw2, предлежaщую є3піст0лію њ (днeхъ) фурjмъ, ю4же скaзоваху, ћкw и3столковA лmсімaхъ сhнъ птоломeевъ, живhй во їеrли1мэ.

And Mardochæus said, These things have been done of God.
3b
For I remember the dream which I had concerning these matters: for not one particular of them has failed.
3c
There was the little fountain, which became a river, and there was light, and the sun, and much water. The river is Esther, whom the king married, and made queen.
3d
And the two serpents are I and Aman.
3e
And the nations are those nations that combined to destroy the name of the Jews.
3f
But as for my nation, this is Israel, even they that cried to God, and were delivered: for the Lord delivered his people, and the Lord rescued us out of all these calamities; and God wrought such signs and great wonders as have not been done among the nations.
3g
Therefore did he ordain two lots, one for the people of God, and one for all the other nations.

And these two lots came for an appointed season, and for a day of judgment, before God, and for all the nations.

And God remembered his people, and vindicated his inheritance.

And they shall observe these days, in the month Adar, on the fourteenth and on the fifteenth day of the month, with an assembly, and joy and gladness before God, throughout the generations for ever among his people Israel.

In the fourth year of the reign of Ptolemy and Cleopatra, Dositheus, who said that he was a priest and a Levite, and Ptolemy his son, brought in the published letter of Phruræ, which they said existed, and which Lysimachus the son of Ptolemy, who was in Jerusalem, had interpreted.
