But the Lord removed sleep from the king that night: and he told his servant to bring in the books, the registers of daily events, to read to him.

2
And he found the records written concerning Mardochæus, how he had told the king concerning the two chamberlains of the king, when they were keeping guard, and sought to lay hands on Artaxerxes.
3
3
And the king said, What honour or favour have we done to Mardochæus? And the king's servants said, Thou hast not done anything to him. И# речE цaрь: кyю слaву и3ли2 благодaть сотвори1хомъ мардохeю; И# рек0ша џтроцы царє1вы: ничт0же сотвори1лъ є3си2 є3мY;
4
4
And while the king was enquiring about the kindness of Mardochæus, behold, Aman was in the court. And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Aman was come in to speak to the king, that he should hang Mardochæus on the gallows, which he had prepared.
5
5
And the king's servants said, Behold, Aman stands in the court. And the king said, Call him.
6
6
And the king said to Aman, What shall I do to the man whom I wish to honour? And Aman said within himself, Whom would the king honour but myself? И# речE цaрь ґмaну: что2 сотворю2 мyжу, є3г0же ѓзъ хощY прослaвити; речe же въ себЁ ґмaнъ: кого2 х0щетъ цaрь прослaвити, рaзвэ менє2;
7
7
and he said to the king, As for the man whom the king wishes to honour, Речe же царю2: мyжа, є3г0же х0щетъ цaрь прослaвити,
8
8
let the king's servants bring the robe of fine linen which the king puts on, and the horse on which the king rides, да принесyтъ џтроцы царє1вы nдeжду вmсс0нную, є4юже цaрь њблачaетсz, и3 конS, на нeмже цaрь э4здитъ,
9
9
and let him give it to one of the king's noble friends, and let him array the man whom the king loves; and let him mount him on the horse, and proclaim through the street of the city, saying, Thus shall it be done to every man whom the king honours. и3 да дaстсz є3ди1ному t другHвъ царeвыхъ слaвныхъ, и3 да њблечeтъ мyжа, є3г0же цaрь лю1битъ, и3 да посaдитъ є3го2 на конS и3 проповёсть на ќлицахъ грaда, глаг0лz: тaкw бyдетъ всsкому человёку, є3г0же цaрь прослaвитъ.
10
10
Then the king said to Aman, Thou hast well said: so do to Mardochæus the Jew, who waits in the palace, and let not a word of what thou hast spoken be neglected. И# речE цaрь ґмaну: д0брэ рeклъ є3си2: тaкw сотвори2 мардохeю їудeанину, ўг0днw служaщему во дворЁ (нaшемъ), и3 да не и3змэни1тсz сл0во твоE t си1хъ, ±же рeклъ є3си2.
11
11
So Aman took the robe and the horse, and arrayed Mardochæus, and mounted him on the horse, and went through the street of the city, and proclaimed, saying, Thus shall it be to every man whom the king wishes to honour. И# взS ґмaнъ nдeжду и3 конS, и3 њблечE мардохeа, и3 возведE є3го2 на коиS, и3 пр0йде по ќлицамъ грaда, и3 проповёдаше (пред8 ни1мъ), глаг0лz: си1це бyдетъ всsкому человёку, є3г0же х0щетъ цaр прослaвити.
12
12
And Mardochæus returned to the palace: but Aman went home mourning, and having his head covered.
13
13
And Aman related the events that had befallen him to Zosara his wife, and to his friends: and his friends and his wife said to him, If Mardochæus be of the race of the Jews, and thou hast begun to be humbled before him, thou wilt assuredly fall, and thou wilt not be able to withstand him, for the living God is with him. И# сказA ґмaнъ случи6вшаzсz є3мY зwсaрэ женЁ своeй и3 другHмъ свои6мъ. И# рёша є3мY дрyзіе є3гw2 и3 женA: ѓще t плeмене їудейскагw мардохeй, нaчалъ є3си2 смирsтисz пред8 ни1мъ, пaдаz падeши, и3 не возм0жеши є3мY tмсти1ти, ћкw бGъ живhй є4сть съ ни1мъ.
14
14
While they were yet speaking, the chamberlains arrived, to hasten Aman to the banquet which Esther had prepared.
