But Mardochæus having perceived what was done, rent his garments, and put on sackcloth, and sprinkled dust upon himself; and having rushed forth through the open street of the city, he cried with a loud voice, A nation that has done no wrong is going to be destroyed.	Мардохeй же разумёвъ замышлsемое, раздрA ри6зы сво‰ и3 њблечeсz во врeтище и3 посhпасz пeпеломъ: и3 скочи1въ въ прострaнную ќлицу грaда, возопи2 в0племъ вели1кимъ и3 г0рькимъ: взимaетсz р0дъ ничт0же преступи1вый.

And he came to the king's gate, and stood; for it was not lawful for him to enter into the palace, wearing sackcloth and ashes.	И# пріи1де дaже до врaтъ царeвыхъ и3 стA: не лёть бо бЁ є3мY вни1ти во дв0ръ во врeтище њблечeну и3 пeпеломъ њсhпану сyщу.

And in every province where the letters were published, there was crying and lamentation and great mourning on the part of the Jews: they spread for themselves sackcloth and ashes.	И# во всsцэй странЁ, и3дёже покaзовахусz пис†ніz (царє1ва), в0пль бЁ и3 плaчь и3 рыдaніе превeліе їудewмъ, врeтище и3 пeпелъ постилaху себЁ.

And the queen's maids and chamberlains went in and told her: and when she had heard what was done, she was disturbed; and she sent to clothe Mardochæus, and take away his sackcloth; but he consented not.	И# внид0ща рабы6ни и3 є3vнyси цари6цыны и3 возвэсти1ша є4й. И# смzтeсz ўслhшавши бhвшее: и3 послA ри6зы њблещи2 мардохeа и3 снsти врeтище є3гw2. И# не послyша.

So Esther called for her chamberlain Achrathæus, who waited upon her; and she sent to learn the truth from Mardochæus.	Е#сfи1рь же призвA ґхраfeа скопцA своего2, предстоsщаго є4й,

And Mardochæus shewed him what was done, and the promise which Aman had made the king of ten thousand talents to be paid into the treasury, that he might destroy the Jews.	Мардохeй же сказA є3мY бhвшее, и3 њбэщaніе, є4же њбэшA ґмaнъ царю2 въ сокр0вищный д0мъ (положи1ти) десsть тысsщъ тал†нтъ сребрA, да погуби1тъ їудє1й:

And he gave him the copy of the writing that was published in Susa concerning their destruction, to shew to Esther; and told him to charge her to go in and intreat the king, and to beg him for the people, remembering, said he, the days of thy low estate, how thou wert nursed by my hand: because Aman who holds the next place to the king has spoken against us for death. Do thou call upon the Lord, and speak to the king concerning us, to deliver us from death.	и3 списaніе (повелёніz) и3здaннагw въ сyсэхъ (грaдэ) на погублeніе и4хъ дадE є3мY, да покaжетъ є3сfи1ри: и3 речE є3мY, заповёдати є4й и3ти2 моли1ти царS и3 проси1ти є3го2 њ лю1дехъ, поминaюши дни6 смирeніz твоегw2, кaкw воспитaна є3си2 въ руцЁ моeй, занE ґмaнъ вторhй по цари2 глаг0ла проти1ву нaмъ на смeрть: призови2 гDа и3 глаг0ли царю2 њ нaсъ, да и3збaвитъ нaсъ t смeрти.

So Achrathæus went in and told her all these words.	Вшeдъ же ґхраfeй, повёда є3сfи1ри вс‰ глаг0лы сі‰.

And Esther said to Achrathæus, Go to Mardochæus, and say,	И# речE є3сfи1рь ко ґхраfeю: и3ди2 къ мардохeю и3 рцы2:

All the nations of the empire know, that whoever, man or woman, shall go in to the king into the inner court uncalled, that person cannot live: only to whomsoever the king shall stretch out his golden sceptre, he shall live: and I have not been called to go in to the king, for these thirty days.	понeже вси2 kзhцы цaрствіz вёдzтъ, ћкw всsкъ мyжъ и3ли2 женA, и4же ѓще вни1детъ ко царвeи во внyтренній д0мъ не при1званъ, нёсть є3мY спасeніz, т0чію къ немyже ѓще прострeтъ цaрь златhй жeзлъ, сей спасeнъ бyдетъ: ѓзъ же нёсмь званA внити ко царю2 сE ўжE три1десzть днjй.

And Achrathæus reported to Mardochæus all the words of Esther.	И# возвэсти2 ґхраfeй мардохeю вс‰ глаг0лы є3сfи6рины.

Then Mardochæus said to Achrathæus, Go, and say to her, Esther, say not to thyself that thou alone wilt escape in the kingdom, more than all the other Jews.	И# речE мардохeй ко ґхраfeю: и3ди2 и3 рцы2 є4й: є3сfи1ре, да не речeши въ себЁ, ћкw ты2 є3ди1на спасeшисz во цaрствіи пaче всёхъ їудє1й:

For if thou shalt refuse to hearken on this occasion, help and protection will be to the Jews from another quarter; but thou and thy father's house will perish: and who knows, if thou hast been made queen for this very occasion?	занE ѓще преслyшаеши въ сіE врeмz, tи1нуду п0мощь и3 покр0въ бyдетъ їудewмъ, тh же и3 д0мъ nтцA твоегw2 поги1бнете: и3 кто2 вёсть, ѓще на сіE врeмz воцари1ласz є3си2;

And Esther sent the man that came to her to Mardochæus, saying,	И# послA є3сfи1рь пришeдшаго къ нeй ко мардохeю, глаг0лющи:

Go and assemble the Jews that are in Susa, and fast ye for me, and eat not and drink not for three days, night and day: and I also and my maidens will fast; and then I will go in to the king contrary to the law, even if I must die.	Шeдъ собери2 їудє1и и5же въ сyсэхъ, и3 пости1тесz њ мнЁ, и3 не kди1те нижE пjйте три2 дни6 дeнь и3 н0щь: ѓзъ же и3 служє1бницы мо‰ (тaкожде) не и4мамы ћсти: и3 тогдA вни1ду ко царю2 кромЁ зак0на, ѓще и3 поги1бнути ми2 приключи1тсz.

So Mardochæus went and did all that Esther commanded him.	И# шeдъ мардохeй сотвори2, є3ли6ка заповёда є3мY є3сfи1рь, и3 помоли1сz гDеви поминaz вс‰ дэлA гDнz и3 речE: гDи, гDи цRю2 вседержи1телю, ћкw во влaсти твоeй сіE всE є4сть, и3 нёсть противомyдрствуzй тебЁ, внегдA восх0щеши спcти2 ї}лz: ћкw ты2 сотвори1лъ є3си2 нeбо и3 зeмлю и3 всE ўдивлsемое въ поднебeснэй и3 гDь є3си2 всёхъ, и3 нёсть, и4же воспроти1витсz тебЁ гDеви: ты2 вс‰ вёси, ты2 знaеши, гDи, ћкw не въ ўкори1знэ ни въ г0рдости, нижE во тщелaвіи сотвори1хъ сіE, є4же не покланsтисz прег0рдому ґмaну, понeже благоволи1мъ бhхъ лобзaти и3 слэды2 н0гъ є3гw2 спасeніz рaди ї}лева, но сіE сотвори1хъ, да не воздaмъ слaвы человёку пaче слaвы б9z, и3 не поклоню1сz ни комyже, кромЁ тебє2 гDа моегw2, и3 не сотворю2 сі‰ въ гордости: и3 нн7э, гDи б9е, цRю2, б9е ґвраaмовъ, пощади2 лю1ди тво‰, ћкw назирaютъ нaмъ въ поги1бель и3 вожделёша погуби1ти є4же и3з8 начaла наслёбдіе твоE: не прeзри досто‰ніz твоегw2, є4же и3збaвилъ є3си2 тебЁ t земли2 є3гЂпетскіz: ўслhши моли1тву мою2, и3 ўмлcрдисz над8 жрeбіемъ твои1мъ, и3 њбрати2 рыдaніе нaше въ весeліе, да живyще восхвали1мъ и4мz твоe, гDи, и3 не погуби2 ќстъ восхвалsющихъ тS, гDи. И# вeсь ї}ль возопи2 t крёпости своеS, ћкw смeрть и4хъ пред8 nчи1ма и4хъ: и3 є3сfи1рь цари1ца притечE ко гDу въ п0двизэ смeрти њбдержи1ма, и3 снeмши ри6зы слaвы своеS, њблечeсz въ ри6зы тэсноты2 и3 плaча, и3 вмёстw многоцённыхъ мaстей и3 благов0нныхъ пeпеломъ и3 гн0емъ посhпа главY свою2, и3 пл0ть свою2 смири2 ѕэлw2, и3 к0ждо мёсто ўкрашeніz весeліz своегw2 и3сп0лни растeрзанными власы6 свои1ми, и3 молsшесz гDу бGу їилеву и3 речE: гDи м0й, цRю2 нaшъ, ты2 є3си2 є3ди1нъ, помози2 ми2 є3ди1ный и3 не и3мёющей п0мощи рaзвэ тебє2, ћкw бэдA моS въ руцЁ моeй: ѓзъ слhшахъ, гDи, t nтцA моегw2 въ плeмени nтeчества моегw2, ћкw ты2 гDи, пріsлъ є3си2 ї}лz t всёхъ kзы6къ и3 nтцы2 нaшz t всёхъ прaoтєцъ и4хъ въ наслёдме вёчное, и3 сотвори1лъ є3си2 и5мъ, є3ли6ка гlалъ є3си2: и3 нн7э согрэши1хомъ пред8 тоб0ю, и3 прeдалъ є3си2 нaсъ въ рyки вр†гъ нaшихъ, занeже слaвихомъ б0ги и4хъ: првdнъ є3си2, гDи: и3 нн7э не дов0лни бhша горeстію раб0ты нaшеz, но положи1ша рyки сво‰ на рyки јдwлъ свои1хъ, и3ст0ргнути зaповэдь ўстъ твои1хъ и3 погуби1ти наслёдіе твоE, и3 загради1ти ўстA хвaлzщихъ тS и3 ўгаси1ти слaву хрaма твоегw2 и3 nлтарS твоегw2, и3 tвeрзти ўстA kзhкwмъ во ўгождє1ніz сyетныхъ и3 ўдиви1тисz царeви плотск0му во вёки: не предaждь, гDи, ски1птра твоегw2 си6мъ, и5же не сyть, и3 да не посмэю1тсz въ падeніи нaшемъ, но њбрати2 совётъ и4хъ на нS, начeншаго же на нaсъ въ при1тчу положи2: помzни2, гDи, познaнъ бyди во времz ск0рби нaшеz и3 менE спод0би дерзновeніz: цRю2 богHвъ и3 всsкагw начaлства содержи1телю, дaждь сл0во благоуг0дно во ўстA мо‰ пред8 льв0мъ, и3 премэни2 сeрдце є3гw2 въ ненави1дэніе вою1ющагw ны2, во и3стреблeніе є3гw2 и3 съ ни1мъ совётующихъ: нaсъ же и3зми2 рук0ю твоeю и3 помози1 ми є3ди1нэй и3 не и3мёющей ни когHже, т0кмw тебE, гDи: всёхъ рaзумъ и4маши и3 вёси, ћкw возненави1дэхъ слaву беззак0нныхъ и3 гнушaюсz л0жа неwбрёзанныхъ и3 всsкагw и3ноплемeнника: ты2 вёси нyжду мою2, ћкw гнушaюсz знaменіz г0рдости моеS, є4же є4сть на главЁ моeй во днeхъ видёніz моегw2, гнушaюсz є3гw2, ћкw рyбищъ њсквернeнныхъ, и3 не ношY є3гw2 въ дeнь молчaніz моегw2: и3 не kдE рабA твоS t трапeзы ґмaновы, и3 не прославлsхъ пи1ра царeва, нижE піsхъ віно2 трeбищъ (јдwлскихъ): и3 не возвесели1сz рабA твоS t днE премёненіz моегw2 дaже донн7э, т0чію њ тебЁ, гDи б9е ґвраaмовъ: б9е, могjй над8 всёми, ўслhши глaсъ безнадeжныхъ, и3 и3збaви нaсъ t руки2 лукaвнующихъ и3 и3зми1 мz t стрaха моегw2.

And he besought the Lord, making mention of all the works of the Lord; and he said,
17b
Lord God, king ruling over all, for all things are in thy power, and there is no one that shall oppose thee in thy purpose to save Israel.—
17c
For thou hast made the heaven and the earth, and every wonderful thing in the world under heaven. And thou art Lord of all, and there is no one who shall resist thee the Lord.
17d
Thou knowest all things: thou knowest, Lord, that it is not in insolence, nor haughtiness, nor love of glory, that I have done this, to refuse obeisance to the haughty Aman. For I would gladly have kissed the soles of his feet for the safety of Israel.
17e
But I have done this, that I might not set the glory of man above the glory of God: and I will not worship any one except thee, my Lord, and I will not do these things in haughtiness.
17f
And now, O Lord God, the King, the God of Abraam, spare thy people, for our enemies are looking upon us to our destruction, and they have desired to destroy thine ancient inheritance.
17g
Do not overlook thy peculiar people, whom thou hast redeemed for thyself out of the land of Egypt.
17h
Hearken to my prayer, and be propitious to thine inheritance, and turn our mourning into gladness, that we may live and sing praise to thy name, O Lord; and do not utterly destroy the mouth of them that praise thee, O Lord.
17i
And all Israel cried with all their might, for their death was before their eyes.

And queen Esther betook herself for refuge to the Lord, being taken as it were in the agony of death. And having taken off her glorious apparel, she put on garments of distress and mourning; and instead of grand perfumes she filled her head with ashes and dung, and she greatly brought down her body, and she filled every place of her glad adorning with the torn curls of her hair. And she besought the Lord God of Israel, and said,

O my Lord, thou alone art our king: help me who am destitute, and have no helper but thee, for my danger is near at hand.
17m
I have heard from my birth, in the tribe of my kindred, that thou, Lord, tookest Israel out of all the nations, and our fathers out of all their kindred for a perpetual inheritance, and hast wrought for them all that thou hast said.
17n
And now we have sinned before thee, and thou hast delivered us into the hands of our enemies, because we honoured their gods: thou art righteous, O Lord.
17o
But now they have not been contented with the bitterness of our slavery, but have laid their hands on the hands of their idols, in order to abolish the decree of thy mouth, and utterly to destroy thine inheritance, and to stop the mouth of them that praise thee, and to extinguish the glory of thine house and thine altar,

and to open the mouth of the Gentiles to speak the praises of vanities, and in order that a mortal king should be admired for ever.
17q
O Lord, do not resign thy sceptre to them that are not, and let them not laugh at our fall, but turn their counsel against themselves, and make an example of him who has begun to injure us.
17r
Remember us, O Lord, manifest thyself in the time of our affliction, and encourage me, O king of gods, and ruler of all dominion.
17s
Put harmonious speech into my mouth before the lion, and turn his heart to hate him that fights against us, to the utter destruction of him and of them that consent with him.
17t
But deliver us by thine hand, and help me who am destitute, and have none but thee, O Lord.
17u
Thou knowest all things, and knowest that I hate the glory of transgressors, and that I abhor the couch of the uncircumcised, and of every stranger.
17w
Thou knowest my necessity, for I abhor the symbol of my proud station, which is upon my head in the days of my splendour: I abhor it as a menstruous cloth, and I wear it not in the days of my tranquillity.
17x
And thy handmaid has not eaten at the table of Aman, and I have not honoured the banquet of the king, neither have I drunk wine of libations.
17y
Neither has thy handmaid rejoiced since the day of my promotion until now, except in thee, O Lord God of Abraam.
17z
O God, who hast power over all, hearken to the voice of the desperate, and deliver us from the hand of them that devise mischief; and deliver me from my fear.
