Chapter 11	Глава 11

1	1
And all the earth was one lip, and there was one language to all.	На всій землі була одна мова й один говір.

And it came to pass as they moved from the east, they found a plain in the land of Senaar, and they dwelt there.	Рухаючись зі сходу, вони знайшли в землі Сеннаар рівнину й оселилися там.

And a man said to his neighbour, Come, let us make bricks and bake them with fire. And the brick was to them for stone, and their mortar was bitumen.	І сказали одне одному: наробимо цегли і випалимо вогнем. І стала у них цегла замість каменю, а земляна смола замість вапна.

And they said, Come, let us build to ourselves a city and tower, whose top shall be to heaven, and let us make to ourselves a name, before we are scattered abroad upon the face of all the earth.	І сказали вони: збудуємо собі місто і вежу, висотою до небес, і зробимо собі ім’я, перш ніж розсіємося по лицю всієї землі.

And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the sons of men built.	І зійшов Господь подивитися місто і вежу, що будували сини людські.

And the Lord said, Behold, there is one race, and one lip of all, and they have begun to do this, and now nothing shall fail from them of all that they may have undertaken to do.	І сказав Господь: ось, один народ, і одна у всіх мова; і ось що почали вони робити, і не відстануть вони від того, що задумали робити;

Come, and having gone down let us there confound their tongue, that they may not understand each the voice of his neighbour.	зійдемо ж і змішаємо там мову їхню, так щоб один не розумів мови іншого.

And the Lord scattered them thence over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city and the tower.	І розсіяв їх Господь звідти по всій землі; і вони перестали будувати місто [і вежу].

On this account its name was called Confusion, because there the Lord confounded the languages of all the earth, and thence the Lord scattered them upon the face of all the earth.	Тому дано йому ім’я: Вавилон, бо там змішав Господь мову всієї землі, і звідти розсіяв їх Господь по всій землі.

And these are the generations of Sem: and Sem was a hundred years old when he begot Arphaxad, the second year after the flood.	Ось родовід Сима: Сим був ста років і породив Арфаксада, через два роки після потопу;

And Sem lived, after he had begotten Arphaxad, five hundred years, and begot sons and daughters, and died.	після народження Арфаксада Сим жив п’ятсот років і породив синів і дочок [і помер].

And Arphaxad lived a hundred and thirty-five years, and begot Cainan.	Арфаксад жив тридцять п’ять [135] років і породив [Каїнана. Після нарождення Каїнана Арфаксад жив триста тридцять років і породив синів і дочок і помер. Каїнан жив сто тридцять років, і породив] Салу.

And Arphaxad lived after he had begotten Cainan, four hundred years, and begot sons and daughters, and died. And Cainan lived a hundred and thirty years and begot Sala; and Cainan lived after he had begotten Sala, three hundred and thirty years, and begot sons and daughters, and died.	Після нарождення Сали Арфаксад [Каїнан] жив чотириста три [330] роки і породив синів і дочок [і помер].

And Sala lived an hundred and thirty years, and begot Heber.	Сала жив тридцять [130] років і породив Євера.

And Sala lived after he had begotten Heber, three hundred and thirty years, and begot sons and daughters, and died.	Після народження Євера Сала жив чотириста три [330] роки і породив синів і дочок [і помер].

And Heber lived an hundred and thirty-four years, and begot Phaleg.	Євер жив тридцять чотири [134] роки і породив Фалека.

And Heber lived after he had begotten Phaleg two hundred and seventy years, and begot sons and daughters, and died.	Після народження Фалека Євер жив чотириста тридцять [370] років і породив синів і дочок [і помер].

And Phaleg lived an hundred and thirty years, and begot Ragau.	Фалек жив тридцять [130] років і породив Рагава.

And Phaleg lived after he had begotten Ragau, two hundred and nine years, and begot sons and daughters, and died.	Після народження Рагава Фалек жив двісті дев’ять років і породив синів і дочок [і помер].

And Ragau lived an hundred thirty and two years, and begot Seruch.	Рагав жив тридцять два [132] роки і породив Серуха.

And Ragau lived after he had begotten Seruch, two hundred and seven years, and begot sons and daughters, and died.	Після народження Серуха Рагав жив двісті сім років і породив синів і дочок [і помер].

And Seruch lived a hundred and thirty years, and begot Nachor.	Серух жив тридцять [130] років і породив Нахора.

And Seruch lived after he had begotten Nachor, two hundred years, and begot sons and daughters, and died.	Після народження Нахора Серух жив двісті років і породив синів і дочок [і помер].

And Nachor lived a hundred and seventy-nine years, and begot Tharrha.	Нахор жив двадцять дев’ять [79] років і породив Фарру.

And Nachor lived after he had begotten Tharrha, an hundred and twenty-five years, and begot sons and daughters, and he died.	Після народження Фарри Нахор жив сто дев’ятнадцять [129] років і породив синів і дочок [і помер].

And Tharrha lived seventy years, and begot Abram, and Nachor, and Arrhan.	Фарра жив сімдесят років і породив Аврама, Нахора й Арана.

And these are the generations of Tharrha. Tharrha begot Abram and Nachor, and Arrhan; and Arrhan begot Lot.	Ось родовід Фарри: Фарра породив Аврама, Нахора й Арана. Аран породив Лота.

And Arrhan died in the presence of Tharrha his father, in the land in which he was born, in the country of the Chaldees.	І вмер Аран за Фарри, батька свого, у землі народження свого, в Урі халдейському.

And Abram and Nachor took to themselves wives, the name of the wife of Abram was Sara, and the name of the wife of Nachor, Malcha, daughter of Arrhan, and he was the father of Malcha, the father of Jescha.	Аврам і Нахор взяли собі дружин; ім’я дружини Аврамової: Сара; ім’я дружини Нахорової: Милка, дочка Арана, батька Милки і батька Іски.

And Sara was barren, and did not bear children.	І Сара була неплідна і бездітна.

And Tharrha took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Arrhan, the son of his son, and Sara his daughter-in-law, the wife of Abram his son, and led them forth out of the land of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Chanaan, and they came as far as Charrhan, and he dwelt there.	І взяв Фарра Аврама, сина свого, і Лота, сина Аранового, онука свого, і Сару, невістку свою, дружину Аврама, сина свого, і вийшов з ними з Ура халдейського, щоб іти в землю Ханаанську; але, дійшовши до Харрана, вони зупинилися там.

And all the days of Tharrha in the land of Charrhan were two hundred and five years, and Tharrha died in Charrhan.	І було днів життя Фарри [у Харранській землі] двісті п’ять років, і вмер Фарра в Харрані.
