И# бhсть, є3гдA поражaше ґлеxaндръ македHнскій сhнъ філjппа, и4же и3зhде t земли2 хеттіи1мъ, порази2 и3 дaріа царS пeрсскаго и3 ми1дскаго, и3 воцари1сz вмёстw є3гw2 пeрвый во є3ллaдэ,	And it happened, after that Alexander son of Philip, the Macedonian, who came out of the land of Chettiim, had smitten Darius king of the Persians and Medes, that he reigned in his stead, the first over Greece,

и3 состaви бр†ни мнHги, и3 њдержA твєрдhни мнHги, и3 ўби2 цари6 зє1мскіz,	and made many wars, and won many strong holds, and slew the kings of the earth,

и3 пр0йде дaже до крaєвъ земли2, и3 взS коры6сти мн0гихъ kзhкwвъ. и3 ўмолчE землS пред8 ни1мъ. и3 возвhсисz, и3 вознесeсz сeрдце є3гw2.	and went through to the ends of the earth, and took spoils of many nations, insomuch that the earth was quiet before him; whereupon he was exalted, and his heart was lifted up.

И# собрA си1лу крёпку ѕэлw2, и3 начaлствова над8 странaми и3 kзы6ки и3 мучи1тельми, и3 бhша є3мY въ дaнники.	And he gathered a mighty strong host, and ruled over countries, and nations, and kings, who became tributaries unto him.

И# по си1хъ падE на л0же и3 познA, ћкw ўмирaетъ:	And after these things he fell sick, and perceived that he should die.

и3 созвA џтроки сво‰ благорHдныz, и5же съ ни1мъ бsху совоспитaни t ю4ности є3гw2, и3 раздэли2 и5мъ цaрство своE є3щE жи1въ сhй.	Wherefore he called his servants, such as were honourable, and had been brought up with him from his youth, and parted his kingdom among them, while he was yet alive.

И# цaрствова ґлеxaндръ лётъ дванaдесzть и3 ќмре.	So Alexander reigned twelve years, and then died.

И# њбладaша џтроцы є3гw2 кjйждо въ мёстэ своeмъ.	And his servants bare rule every one in his place.

И# возложи1ша вси2 діади6мы по смeрти є3гw2, и3 сhнове и4хъ по ни1хъ лBта мнHга, и3 ўмн0жиша ѕл†z на земли2.	And after his death they all put crowns upon themselves; so did their sons after them many years: and evils were multiplied in the earth.

И# и3зhде t ни1хъ к0рень грэхA ґнті0хъ є3піфaнъ, сhнъ ґнті0ха царS, и4же бЁ зал0гомъ въ ри1мэ: и3 цaрствова въ лётэ сто2 три1десzть седмёмъ цaрства є4ллинскагw.	And there came out of them a wicked root, Antiochus surnamed Epiphanes, son of Antiochus the king, who had been an hostage at Rome, and he reigned in the hundred and thirty and seventh year of the kingdom of the Greeks.

Во днeхъ тёхъ и3зыд0ша t ї}лz сhнове беззак0нніи и3 наусти1ша мн0гихъ глаг0люще: п0йдемъ и3 завэщaемъ завётъ съ kзы6ки, и5же w4крестъ нaсъ, ћкw tнeлэже tлучи1хомсz t ни1хъ, њбрэт0ша нaсъ мнHга ѕл†z.	In those days went there out of Israel wicked men, who persuaded many, saying, Let us go and make a covenant with the heathen that are round about us: for since we departed from them we have had much sorrow.

И# благоуви1дэсz сл0во во џчію и4хъ:	So this device pleased them well.

и3 пред8избрaшасz нёцыи t людjй и3 и3д0ша ко царю2: и3 дадE и5мъ влaсть твори1ти њправд†ніz kзhчєскаz.	Then certain of the people were so forward herein, that they went to the king, who gave them licence to do after the ordinances of the heathen:

И# создaша (себЁ) ўчи1лище во їеrли1мэ по зак0нwмъ kзhчєскимъ.	whereupon they built a place of exercise at Jerusalem according to the customs of the heathen:

И# сотвори1ша себЁ неwбрёзаніе, и3 tступи1ша t завёта с™aгw, и3 сопрzг0шасz kзhкwмъ, и3 продaшасz є4же твори1ти лукaвое.	and made themselves uncircumcised, and forsook the holy covenant, and joined themselves to the heathen, and were sold to do mischief.

И# ўгот0васz цaрство пред8 ґнті0хомъ: и3 ўмhсли цaрствовати во є3гЂптэ, ћкw да цaрствуетъ над8 двэмA цaрствома.	Now when the kingdom was established before Antiochus, he thought to reign over Egypt, that he might have the dominion of two realms.

И# вни1де во є3гЂпетъ въ нар0дэ тsжцэ, на колесни1цахъ и3 на сл0нэхъ, и3 на всaдникахъ и3 на кораблeхъ мн0гихъ.	Wherefore he entered into Egypt with a great multitude, with chariots, and elephants, and horsemen, and a great navy,

И# состaви брaнь на птоломeа царS є3гЂпетскаго: и3 ўбоsсz птоломeй t лицA є3гw2 и3 побэжE, и3 пад0ша ћзвени мн0зи.	and made war against Ptolemee king of Egypt: but Ptolemee was afraid of him, and fled; and many were wounded to death.

И# взsша грaды твє1рды въ земли2 є3гЂпетстэй: и3 взS кwрhсти земли2 є3гЂпетскіz.	Thus they got the strong cities in the land of Egypt, and he took the spoils thereof.

И# њбрати1сz ґнті0хъ, повнегдA порази2 є3гЂпта во сто2 четhредесzть трeтіе лёто: и3 взhде на ї}лz и3 на їеrли1мъ въ нар0дэ тsжцэ,	And after that Antiochus had smitten Egypt, he returned again in the hundred forty and third year, and went up against Israel and Jerusalem with a great multitude,

и3 вни1де во свzти1лище съ гордhнею, и3 взS nлтaрь златhй и3 свэти1лникъ свёщный и3 вс‰ сосyды є3гw2,	and entered proudly into the sanctuary, and took away the golden altar, and the candlestick of light, and all the vessels thereof,

и3 трапeзу предложeніz и3 возліsлники, и3 фіaлы и3 кади6лницы златы6z, и3 катапетaсму и3 вэнцы2 и3 ўкрашeніе злат0е, є4же на лицы2 цeркви (бsше), и3 сокруши2 вс‰:	and the table of the shewbread, and the pouring vessels, and the vials, and the censers of gold, and the veil, and the crowns, and the golden ornaments that were before the temple, all which he pulled off.

и3 взS сребро2 и3 злaто и3 сосyды вожделBнныz: и3 взS сокрHвища т†йнаz, и5хже њбрёте.	He took also the silver and the gold, and the precious vessels: also he took the hidden treasures which he found.

И# взeмъ вс‰ tи1де въ зeмлю свою2, и3 сотвори2 ўбjйство, и3 глаг0ла въ г0рдости вели1цэй.	And when he had taken all away, he went into his own land, having made a great massacre, and spoken very proudly.

И# бhсть плaчь вели1къ во ї}ли на всsцэмъ мёстэ и4хъ.	Therefore there was great mourning in Israel, in every place where they were;

И# возстенaша нач†лницы и3 старBйшины, дBвы и3 ю4нwши и3знемог0ша, и3 красотA жeнскаz и3змэни1сz.	so that the princes and elders mourned, the virgins and young men were made feeble, and the beauty of women was changed.

Всsкъ жени1хъ пріS плaчь, и3 сэдsщаz на nдрЁ брaчнэ бhсть въ печaли.	Every bridegroom took up lamentation, and she that sat in the marriage chamber was in heaviness.

И# потрzсeсz землS на њбитaющихъ на нeй, и3 вeсь д0мъ їaкwвль њблечeсz студ0мъ.	The land also was moved for the inhabitants thereof, and all the house of Jacob was covered with confusion.

И# по двою2 лBту днjй послA цaрь начaлника дaнемъ во грaды ї{дины. и3 пріи1де во їеrли1мъ съ нар0домъ вели1кимъ	And after two years fully expired, the king sent his chief collector of tribute unto the cities of Juda, who came unto Jerusalem with a great multitude,

и3 глаг0ла къ ни6мъ словесA ми6рнаz во льсти2. и3 вёроваша є3мY. и3 нападE на грaдъ внезaпу и3 порази2 є3го2 ћзвою вели1кою и3 погуби2 лю1ди мнHги t ї}лz:	and spake peaceable words unto them, but all was deceit: for when they had given him credence, he fell suddenly upon the city, and smote it very sore, and destroyed much people of Israel.

и3 взS кwрhсти грaда и3 сожжE є3го2 nгнeмъ, и3 разори2 д0мы є3гw2 и3 стёны є3гw2 w4крестъ:	And when he had taken the spoils of the city, he set it on fire, and pulled down the houses and walls thereof on every side.

и3 плэни1ша жeнъ и3 ч†дъ, и3 скоты2 раздэли1ша,	But the women and children took they captive, and possessed the cattle.

и3 њгради1ша грaдъ давjдовъ стэн0ю вели1кою и3 крёпкою и3 бaшнzми крёпкими, и3 бhсть и5мъ въ крёпость:	Then builded they the city of David with a great and strong wall, and with mighty towers, and made it a stronghold for them.

и3 посади1ша тaмw людjй грёшникwвъ, мужeй беззак0нныхъ, и3 возмог0ша въ нeй:	And they put therein a sinful nation, wicked men, and fortified themselves therein.

и3 положи1ша nр{жіz и3 бр†шна, и3 собирaху кwрhсти їеrли6мскіz, и3 полагaху тaмw: и3 бhша въ сёть вели1ку,	They stored it also with armour and victuals, and when they had gathered together the spoils of Jerusalem, they laid them up there, and so they became a sore snare:

и3 бhсть въ лови1телство с™hни и3 въ діaвола лукaваго ї}лю вhну.	for it was a place to lie in wait against the sanctuary, and an evil adversary to Israel.

И# проліsша кр0вь непови1нную w4крестъ свzти1лища и3 њскверни1ша с™hню.	Thus they shed innocent blood on every side of the sanctuary, and defiled it:

И# бэжaша њбитaющіи во їеrли1мэ и4хъ рaди, и3 бhсть њбитaніе чужди6мъ: и3 бhсть чyждо сёмени рождeніz своегw2, и3 ч†да є3гw2 њстaвиша є3го2.	insomuch that the inhabitants of Jerusalem fled because of them: whereupon the city was made an habitation of strangers, and became strange to those that were born in her; and her own children left her.

С™hнz є3гw2 разорeна ћкw пустhнz, прaздницы є3гw2 њбращeни сyть во плaчь, суббw6ты є3гw2 въ поношeніе, чeсть є3гw2 во ўничижeніе:	Her sanctuary was laid waste like a wilderness, her feasts were turned into mourning, her sabbaths into reproach, her honour into contempt.

по слaвэ є3гw2 ўмн0жисz безчeстіе є3гw2, и3 высотA є3гw2 њбращeна бhсть во плaчь.	As had been her glory, so was her dishonour increased, and her excellency was turned into mourning.

И# писA цaрь ґнті0хъ всемY цaрству своемY, да бyдутъ вси2 лю1діе є3ди1но,	Moreover king Antiochus wrote to his whole kingdom, that all should be one people,

и3 њстaвитъ кjйждо зак0нъ св0й. и3 соизв0лиша вси2 kзhцы по сл0ву царS (ґнті0ха).	and every one should leave his laws: so all the heathen agreed according to the commandment of the king.

И# мн0зи t ї}лz и3зв0лиша служeнію є3гw2 и3 пожр0ша јдwлwмъ и3 њскверни1ша суббHту.	Yea, many also of the Israelites consented to his religion, and sacrificed unto idols, and profaned the sabbath.

И# послA цaрь кни6ги рук0ю вёстникwвъ во їеrли1мъ и3 во грaды ї{дины, да п0йдутъ в8слёдъ зак0нwвъ чужди1хъ земли2	For the king had sent letters by messengers unto Jerusalem and the cities of Juda, that they should follow the strange laws of the land,

и3 возбранsтъ всесожжє1ніz и3 жeртву и3 возліsніе t с™hни, и3 њмерзsтъ суббw6ты и3 прaздники,	and forbid burnt offerings, and sacrifice, and drink offerings, in the temple; and that they should profane the sabbaths and festival days:

и3 њсквернsтъ с™hню и3 с™hхъ,	and pollute the sanctuary and holy people:
47	47
и3 сози1ждутъ трє1бища и3 к†пища и3 кум‡рницы, и3 да жрyтъ мzсA свин†z и3 скоты2 џбщыz:	set up altars, and groves, and chapels of idols, and sacrifice swine's flesh, and unclean beasts:

и3 да њстaвzтъ сhны сво‰ неwбрBзаны, є4же њскверни1ти дyшы и4хъ во всsцэй нечистотЁ и3 њсквернeніи,	that they should also leave their children uncircumcised, and make their souls abominable with all manner of uncleanness and profanation:
49	49
ћкw да забyдутъ зак0нъ и3 и3змэнsтъ вс‰ њправд†ніz (б9іz).	to the end they might forget the law, and change all the ordinances.

И# и4же ѓще не сотвори1тъ по глаг0лу царeву, да ќмретъ.	And whosoever would not do according to the commandment of the king, he said, he should die.
51	51
По всBмъ словесє1мъ си6мъ написA всемY цaрству своемY и3 пристaви надзирaтєли над8 всёми людьми2: и3 повелЁ градHмъ ї{динымъ жрeти во всsцэмъ грaдэ.	In the selfsame manner wrote he to his whole kingdom, and appointed overseers over all the people, commanding the cities of Juda to sacrifice, city by city.

И# собрaшасz мн0зи t людjй къ ни6мъ, всsкъ њстaвивый зак0нъ гDень: и3 сотвори1ша лук†ваz на земли2	Then many of the people were gathered unto them, to wit, every one that forsook the law; and so they committed evils in the land;

и3 положи1ша ї}лz въ тaйныхъ во всsцэмъ ўбёжищи и4хъ.	and drove the Israelites into secret places, even wheresoever they could flee for succour.

И# въ пzтыйнaдесzть дeнь мцcа хаслevа, въ лёто сто2 четhредесzть пsтое создaша мeрзость запустёніz на nлтари2 (б9іи), и3 во градёхъ їyдиныхъ w4крестъ создaша трє1бища.	Now the fifteenth day of the month Casleu, in the hundred forty and fifth year, they set up the abomination of desolation upon the altar, and builded idol altars throughout the cities of Juda on every side;

И# пред8 дверьми2 домHвъ и3 на ст0гнахъ кадsху,	and burnt incense at the doors of their houses, and in the streets.

и3 кни6ги зак0на (б9іz), и5хже њбрэт0ша, сожг0ша nгнeмъ, раздирaюще (и5хъ).	And when they had rent in pieces the books of the law which they found, they burnt them with fire.

И# и3дёже њбрэтaшесz ў когw2 кни1га завёта гDнz, и3 ѓще кто2 соизволsше зак0ну гDню, по повелёнію царeву закалaху є3го2.	And wheresoever was found with any the book of the testament, or if any consented to the law, the king's commandment was, that they should put him to death.

Въ си1лэ своeй творsху си1це лю1демъ ї}лєвымъ, њбрэтaющымсz во всsцэмъ мцcэ и3 мцcэ во градёхъ.	Thus did they by their authority unto the Israelites every month, to as many as were found in the cities.

И# въ двaдесzть пsтый дeнь мцcа жрsху въ кaпищи, є4же бЁ на nлтари2.	Now the five and twentieth day of the month they did sacrifice upon the idol altar, which was upon the altar of God.

И# жeнъ њбрёзавшихъ ч†да сво‰ закалaша по повелёнію (царeву),	At which time according to the commandment they put to death certain women, that had caused their children to be circumcised.

и3 њбёшаху дBтища за ш‡и и4хъ, д0мы и4хъ расхищaху, и3 њбрёзавшихъ \| ўмерщвлsху.	And they hanged the infants about their necks, and rifled their houses, and slew them that had circumcised them.

И# мн0зи t людjй ї}левыхъ ўдержaшасz и3 ўтверди1шасz въ себЁ, є4же не ћсти сквeрныхъ,	Howbeit many in Israel were fully resolved and confirmed in themselves not to eat any unclean thing.

и3 и3збрaша пaче ўмрeти, нeже њскверни1тисz брaшны, и3 не хотёша преступи1ти зак0на б9іz с™aгw: и3 заклaни бhша.	Wherefore they chose rather to die, that they might not be defiled with meats, and that they might not profane the holy covenant: so then they died.

И# бhсть гнёвъ вeлій на ї}лz ѕэлw2.	And there was very great wrath upon Israel.
