И# цaрь є3гЂпетскій собрA си1лу мн0гу ѓки пес0къ, и4же вскрaй м0рz, и3 корабли6 мнHги: и3 и3скaше њбладaти цaрство ґлеxaндрово лeстію и3 приложи1ти є5 къ цaрству своемY.	And the king of Egypt gathered together a great host, like the sand that lieth upon the sea shore, and many ships, and went about through deceit to get Alexander's kingdom, and join it to his own.

И# и3зhде въ сmрjю словесы2 ми1рными, и3 tверзaху є3мY и5же t градHвъ и3 срэтaху є3го2, ћкw зaповэдь бЁ ґлеxaндра царS срэтaти є3го2, занE бsше тeсть є3гw2.	Whereupon he took his journey into Syria in peaceable manner, so as they of the cities opened unto him, and met him: for king Alexander had commanded them so to do, because he was his father in law.

Е#гдa же вхождaше во грaды, птоломeй поставлsше си6лы на стрaжу въ к0емждо грaдэ.	Now as Ptolemee entered into the cities, he set in every one of them a garrison of soldiers to keep it.

And when he came near to Azotus, they shewed him the temple of Dagon that was burnt, and Azotus and the suburbs thereof that were destroyed, and the bodies that were cast abroad, and them that he had burnt in the battle: for they had made heaps of them by the way where he should pass.

И# повёдаша царю2, ±же сотвори2 їwнаfaнъ, є4же бы возненави1дэти є3го2. и3 ўмолчA цaрь.	Also they told the king whatsoever Jonathan had done, to the intent he might blame him: but the king held his peace.

И# срёте їwнаfaнъ царS во їoппjи со слaвою, и3 цэловaста дрyгъ дрyга и3 почи1ста тY.	Then Jonathan met the king with great pomp at Joppe, where they saluted one another, and lodged.

И# и4де їwнаfaнъ со царeмъ дaже до рэки2 нарицaемыz є3леvfeра, и3 возврати1сz во їеrли1мъ.	Afterward Jonathan, when he had gone with the king to the river called Eleutherus, returned again to Jerusalem.

Цaрь же птоломeй њгосп0дствова гр†ды прим0рскими дaже до селеvкjи прим0рскіz и3 размышлsше на ґлеxaндра совёты лук†вы.	King Ptolemee therefore, having gotten the dominion of the cities by the sea unto Seleucia upon the sea coast, imagined wicked counsels against Alexander.

И# послA старёйшинъ къ дими1трію царю2, глаг0лz: пріиди2, состaвимъ междY нaма завётъ, и3 дaмъ тебЁ дщeрь мою2, ю4же и4мать ґлеxaндръ, и3 цaрствовати и4маши во цaрствіи nтцA твоегw2:	Whereupon he sent ambassadors unto king Demetrius, saying, Come, let us make a league betwixt us, and I will give thee my daughter whom Alexander hath, and thou shalt reign in thy father's kingdom:

раскazхсz бо дaвъ є3мY дщeрь мою2, и3скaше бо мS ўби1ти.	for I repent that I gave my daughter unto him, for he sought to slay me.

И# похyли є3го2 рaди похотёніz цaрства є3гw2.	Thus did he slander him, because he was desirous of his kingdom.

И# tsвъ дщeрь свою2, дадE ю5 дими1трію и3 tчужди1сz t ґлеxaндра, и3 kви1сz враждA и4хъ.	Wherefore he took his daughter from him, and gave her to Demetrius, and forsook Alexander, so that their hatred was openly known.

И# вни1де птоломeй во ґнтіохjю и3 возложи2 двЁ діади6мы на главY свою2, ґсjйскую и3 є3гЂпетскую.	Then Ptolemee entered into Antioch, where he set two crowns upon his head, the crown of Asia, and of Egypt.

Ґлеxaндръ же цaрь бЁ въ кілікjи во временA џна, понeже tметaхусz и5же t мёстъ џныхъ.	In the mean season was king Alexander in Cilicia, because those that dwelt in those parts had revolted from him.

И# слhша ґлеxaндръ и3 пріи1де нaнь брaнію: и3 и3зведE птоломeй си1лу, и3 срёте є3го2 рук0ю крёпкою, и3 прогнA є3го2.	But when Alexander heard of this, he came to war against him: whereupon king Ptolemee brought forth his host, and met him with a mighty power, and put him to flight.

И# побэжE ґлеxaндръ во ґравjю защи1титисz тaмw: цaрь же птоломeй вознесeсz.	So Alexander fled into Arabia, there to be defended; but king Ptolemee was exalted:

И# ўсёкну завдіи1ль ґравjтинъ главY ґлеxaндрову и3 послA птоломeю.	for Zabdiel the Arabian took off Alexander's head, and sent it unto Ptolemee.

И# цaрь птоломeй ќмре въ трeтій дeнь, и3 сyщіи въ твердhнехъ погиб0ша t сyщихъ въ твердhнехъ.	King Ptolemee also died the third day after, and they that were in the strong holds were slain one of another.

И# воцари1сz дими1трій въ лёто сто2 шестьдесsтъ седм0е.	By this means Demetrius reigned in the hundred threescore and seventh year.

Во дни6 w4ны собрA їwнаfaнъ сyщихъ t їудeи, да вою1ютъ краегрaдіе, є4же во їеrли1мэ, и3 сотвори2 на џное мих†ны мнHги.	At the same time Jonathan gathered together them that were in Judea, to take the tower that was in Jerusalem: and he made many engines of war against it.

И# и3д0ша нёцыи ненави1дzщіи kзhка и4хъ, мyжіе беззакHнницы, ко царю2 дими1трію и3 возвэсти1ша є3мY, ћкw їwнаfaнъ њбстои1тъ краегрaдіе.	Then certain ungodly persons, who hated their own people, went unto the king, and told him that Jonathan besieged the tower.

И# слhшавъ разгнёвасz: є3гдa же слhша, ск0рw пріи1де во птолемаjду и3 написA ко їwнаfaну, да не њбстои1тъ краегрaдіz, но да и4детъ во срётеніе є3мY тщaтелнw во птолемаjду, є4же бесёдовати съ ни1мъ.	Whereof when he heard, he was angry, and immediately removing, he came to Ptolemais, and wrote unto Jonathan, that he should not lay siege to the tower, but come and speak with him at Ptolemais in great haste.

Е#гдa же ўслhша їwнаfaнъ, повелЁ њбстоsти, и3 и3збрA t старёйшинъ ї}левыхъ и3 їерeєвъ, и3 вдадeсz въ бёдство:	Nevertheless Jonathan, when he heard this, commanded to besiege it still: and he chose certain of the elders of Israel and the priests, and put himself in peril;

и3 взsвъ злaто и3 сребро2 и3 ри6зы и3 и4ны дaры мнHги, и4де ко царю2 во птолемаjду и3 њбрёте благодaть пред8 ни1мъ.	and took silver and gold, and raiment, and divers presents besides, and went to Ptolemais unto the king, where he found favour in his sight.

И# клеветaху на него2 нёцыи беззак0нніи t kзhка (є3гw2).	And though certain ungodly men of the people had made complaints against him,

И# сотвори2 є3мY цaрь, ћкоже сотвори1ша є3мY, и5же прeжде є3гw2 бhша, и3 возвhси є3го2 пред8 всёми др{ги свои1ми,	yet the king entreated him as his predecessors had done before, and promoted him in the sight of all his friends,

и3 постaви є3го2 начaлника свzщeнству, и3 є3ли6ка и4на и3мёzше прeжде честн†z, и3 сотвори2 є3го2 въ пeрвыхъ друзёхъ бhти.	and confirmed him in the high priesthood, and in all the honours that he had before, and gave him pre-eminence among his chief friends.

И# моли2 їwнаfaнъ царS сотвори1ти їудeю бездaнну, и3 три2 топ†рхіи, и3 самарjю, и3 њбэщA є3мY три1ста тал†нтъ.	Then Jonathan desired the king, that he would make Judea free from tribute, as also the three governments, with the country of Samaria; and he promised him three hundred talents.

И# ўг0дно бhсть царю2, и3 написA їwнаfaну є3пістHліи њ всёхъ си1хъ, и3мёющыz w4бразъ сицевhй:	So the king consented, and wrote letters unto Jonathan of all these things after this manner:

цaрь дими1трій брaту їwнаfaну рaдоватисz и3 kзhку їудeйскому:	King Demetrius unto his brother Jonathan, and unto the nation of the Jews, sendeth greeting:

списaніе є3піст0ліи, ю4же писaхомъ ласfeну ср0днику нaшему њ вaсъ, писaхомъ и3 къ вaмъ, да вёсте:	We send you here a copy of the letter which we did write unto our cousin Lasthenes concerning you, that ye might see it.

цaрь дими1трій ласfeну nтцY рaдоватисz:	King Demetrius unto his father Lasthenes sendeth greeting:

kзhку їудeйску другHмъ нaшымъ и3 сохранsющымъ ±же къ нaмъ прaвєднаz суди1хомъ благосотвори1ти, рaди благопріsтства и4хъ къ нaмъ:	We are determined to do good to the people of the Jews, who are our friends, and keep covenants with us, because of their good will toward us.

ўстaвихомъ u5бо и5мъ предёлы їудє1йскіz и3 три2 страны6, ґферeму, лЂдду и3 рамаfeмъ, и5же приложи1шасz їудeи t самарjи, и3 вс‰ надлєжaщаz къ ни6мъ, всBмъ жрyщымъ во їеrли1мэ, вмёстw цaрскихъ, и5хже взимaше цaрь t ни1хъ пeрвэе на всsко лёто t жи6тъ земли2 и3 t nвощeй древeсныхъ,	Wherefore we have ratified unto them the borders of Judea, with the three governments of Apherema and Lydda and Ramathem, that are added unto Judea from the country of Samaria, and all things appertaining unto them, for all such as do sacrifice in Jerusalem, instead of the payments which the king received of them yearly aforetime out of the fruits of the earth and of trees.

и3 и4на надлєжaщаz нaмъ tнн7э десzти1нъ и3 дaней надлежaщихъ нaмъ, и3 с0ли точи6ла, и3 принадлежaщихъ нaмъ вэнцє1въ,	And as for other things that belong unto us, of the tithes and customs pertaining unto us, as also the saltpits, and the crown taxes, which are due unto us, we discharge them of them all for their relief.

вс‰ щeдрw њставлsемъ и5мъ, и3 ничт0же t си1хъ tи1метсz tнн7э и3 въ вёчное врeмz:	And nothing hereof shall be revoked from this time forth for ever.

нн7э u5бо прилэжи1те сотвори1ти си1хъ списaніе, и3 да дaстсz їwнаfaну и3 да положи1тсz въ горЁ с™ёй въ мёстэ чeстнэ.	Now therefore see that thou make a copy of these things, and let it be delivered unto Jonathan, and set upon the holy mount in a conspicuous place.

И# ви1дэ дими1трій цaрь, ћкw ўтиши1сz землS пред8 ни1мъ, и3 ничто2 є3мY проти1витсz, и3 tпусти2 вс‰ вHи сво‰ коег0ждо въ мёсто своE, кромЁ чужди1хъ си1лъ, и5хже собрA t nстровHвъ kзhческихъ, и3 враждовaху є3мY вс‰ си6лы nтцє1въ є3гw2.	After this, when king Demetrius saw that the land was quiet before him, and that no resistance was made against him, he sent away all his forces, every one to his own place, except certain bands of strangers, whom he had gathered from the isles of the heathen: wherefore all the forces of his fathers hated him.

ТрЂфwнъ же бЁ t ґлеxaндровыхъ пeрвэе, и3 ви1дэ, ћкw вс‰ си1лы р0пщутъ на дими1тріа, и3 и4де ко є3малкyю ґравjтину, и4же воспитA ґнті0ха дётище ґлеxaндрово:	Moreover there was one Tryphon, that had been of Alexander's part afore, who, seeing that all the host murmured against Demetrius, went to Simalcue the Arabian, that brought up Antiochus the young son of Alexander,

и3 прилэжaше є3мY, ћкw да дaстъ є3мY є5, да воцари1тъ вмёстw nтцA є3гw2: и3 возвэсти2 є3мY, є3ли6ка сотвори2 дими1трій, и3 враждY, є4юже враждyютъ нaнь си6лы є3гw2, и3 пребhсть тY дни6 мнHги.	and lay sore upon him to deliver him this young Antiochus, that he might reign in his father's stead: he told him therefore all that Demetrius had done, and how his men of war were at enmity with him, and there he remained a long season.

И# послA їwнаfaнъ ко дими1трію царю2, да и3жденeтъ сyщихъ во краегрaдіи и3з8 їеrли1ма и3 и5же въ твердhнехъ: бsху бо вою1юще ї}лz.	In the mean time Jonathan sent unto king Demetrius, that he would cast those of the tower out of Jerusalem, and those also in the fortresses: for they fought against Israel.

И# послA дими1трій ко їwнаfaну глаг0лz: не т0кмw сі‰ сотворю2 тебЁ и3 kзhку твоемY, но и3 слaвою прослaвлю тS и3 kзhкъ тв0й, ѓще благоврeменство получY:	So Demetrius sent unto Jonathan, saying, I will not only do this for thee and thy people, but I will greatly honour thee and thy nation, if opportunity serve.

нн7э u5бо прaвw сотвори1ши, ѓще п0слеши ми2 мужeй споборaющихъ, ћкw tступи1ша вси2 вHи мои2.	Now therefore thou shalt do well, if thou send me men to help me; for all my forces are gone from me.

И# послA є3мY їwнаfaнъ три2 тhсzщы мужeй си1льныхъ крёпостію во ґнтіохjю, и3 пріид0ша ко царю2, и3 возвесели1сz цaрь њ пришeствіи и4хъ.	Upon this Jonathan sent him three thousand strong men unto Antioch: and when they came to the king, the king was very glad of their coming.

И# собрaшасz и5же t грaда въ среди1ну грaда сто2 двaдесzть тhсzщъ мужeй и3 совэщaхусz ўби1ти царS.	Howbeit they that were of the city gathered themselves together into the midst of the city, to the number of an hundred and twenty thousand men, and would have slain the king.

И# бэжA цaрь во дв0ръ, и3 њб8sша и5же бёху t грaда пути6 гр†дскіz, и3 начaша би1тисz.	Wherefore the king fled into the court, but they of the city kept the passages of the city, and began to fight.
47	47
И# призвA цaрь їудеHвъ на п0мощь, и3 собрaшасz вси2 вкyпэ къ немY: и3 расточи1шасz вси2 по грaду,	Then the king called to the Jews for help, who came unto him all at once, and dispersing themselves through the city slew that day in the city to the number of an hundred thousand.

и3 ўби1ша во грaдэ въ т0й дeнь сто2 тhсzщъ мужeй, и3 сожг0ша грaдъ, и3 взsша коры6сти мнHги во w4нъ дeнь и3 и3збaвиша царS.	Also they set fire on the city, and gat many spoils that day, and delivered the king.

И# ви1дэша и5же бsху t грaда, ћкw њдержaша їудeє грaдъ, ћкоже хотёша, и3 и3знемог0ша мhсльми свои1ми, и3 возопи1ша ко царю2 съ молeніемъ, глаг0люще:	So when they of the city saw that the Jews had got the city as they would, their courage was abated: wherefore they made supplication to the king, and cried, saying,

дaждь нaмъ десни1цу, и3 да престaнутъ їудeє рaтовати нaсъ и3 грaдъ.	Grant us peace, and let the Jews cease from assaulting us and the city.

И# поверг0ша nр{жіz сво‰ и3 сотвори1ша ми1ръ. И# прослaвишасz їудeє пред8 царeмъ и3 пред8 всёми и5же во цaрствіи є3гw2, и3 возврати1шасz во їеrли1мъ и3мёюще коры6сти мнHги.	With that they cast away their weapons, and made peace; and the Jews were honoured in the sight of the king, and in the sight of all that were in his realm; and they returned to Jerusalem, having great spoils.

И# сёде дими1трій цaрь на прест0лэ цaрства своегw2, и3 ўпок0исz землS пред8 ни1мъ.	So king Demetrius sat on the throne of his kingdom, and the land was quiet before him.

И# солгA вс‰ є3ли6ка речE, и3 tчужди1сz їwнаfaна, и3 не воздадE є3мY по благотворeніємъ, ±же воздадE є3мY, и3 њскорби2 є3го2 ѕэлw2.	Nevertheless he dissembled in all that ever he spake, and estranged himself from Jonathan, neither rewarded he him according to the benefits which he had received of him, but troubled him very sore.

По си1хъ же возврати1сz трЂфwнъ и3 ґнті0хъ съ ни1мъ џтрочищь ю4ный: и3 воцари1сz и3 возложи2 діади1му.	After this returned Tryphon, and with him the young child Antiochus, who reigned, and was crowned.

И# собрaшасz къ немY вси2 вHи, и5хже расточи2 дими1трій, и3 рaтоваша проти1ву є3гw2, и3 побэжE и3 побэждeнъ бhсть.	Then there gathered unto him all the men of war, whom Demetrius had put away, and they fought against Demetrius, who turned his back and fled.

И# взS трЂфwнъ ѕвBри и3 њдержA ґнтіохjю.	Moreover Tryphon took the elephants, and won Antioch.

И# писA ґнті0хъ ю4ный їwнаfaну, глаг0лz: ўставлsю тебЁ ґрхіерeйство и3 поставлsю тебE над8 четhрми странaми, и3 бyдеши въ друзёхъ цaрскихъ.	At that time young Antiochus wrote unto Jonathan, saying, I confirm thee in the high priesthood, and appoint thee ruler over the four governments, and to be one of the king's friends.

И# послA є3мY сосyды златы6z и3 служeніе, и3 дадE є3мY влaсть пи1ти и3з8 злaта и3 бhти въ порфЂрэ и3 и3мёти гри1вну злaту.	Upon this he sent him golden vessels to be served in, and gave him leave to drink in gold, and to be clothed in purple, and to wear a golden buckle.

И# сjмwна брaта є3гw2 постaви воев0дою t страны2 тЂра дaже до предBлъ є3гЂпта.	His brother Simon also he made captain from the place called The ladder of Tyrus unto the borders of Egypt.

И# и3зhде їwнаfaнъ и3 прохождaше њб8 nнY странY рэки2 и3 во градёхъ, и3 собрaшасz къ немY вс‰ си6лы с›рскіz въ п0мощь, и3 пріи1де во ґскалHнъ, и3 срэт0ша є3го2 чeстнw t грaда.	Then Jonathan went forth, and passed through the cities beyond the water, and all the forces of Syria gathered themselves unto him for to help him: and when he came to Ascalon, they of the city met him honourably.

И# и4де tтyду въ гaзу, и3 заключи1шасz и5же въ гaзэ, и3 њбстоsше ю5, и3 пожжE њкрє1стныz грaды є3S nгнeмъ, и3 плэни2 \|.	From whence he went to Gaza, but they of Gaza shut him out; wherefore he laid siege unto it, and burned the suburbs thereof with fire, and spoiled them.

И# моли1ша їwнаfaна и5же t гaзы, и3 дадE и5мъ десни1цу, и3 взS сhны начaлникwвъ и4хъ въ зал0гъ, и3 послA и5хъ во їеrли1мъ, и3 пр0йде странY дaже до дамaска.	Afterward, when they of Gaza made supplication unto Jonathan, he made peace with them, and took the sons of their chief men for hostages, and sent them to Jerusalem, and passed through the country unto Damascus.

И# слhша їwнаfaнъ, ћкw сyть нач†лницы дими1трієвы въ кaдисэ, и4же въ галілeи, съ си1лою мн0гою, хотsще и3зри1нути є3го2 t страны2.	Now when Jonathan heard that Demetrius' princes were come to Cades, which is in Galilee, with a great power, purposing to remove him out of the country,

И# срётесz съ ни1ми, брaта же своего2 сjмwна њстaви во странЁ.	he went to meet them, and left Simon his brother in the country.

И# њполчи1сz сjмwнъ на веfсyру, и3 рaтоваша ю5 дни6 мнHги, и3 заключи2 ю5.	Then Simon encamped against Bethsura, and fought against it a long season, and shut it up:

И# проси1ша ў негw2 десни1цу пріsти, и3 дадE и5мъ, и3 и3згнA и5хъ tтyду, и3 взS грaдъ, и3 постaви въ нeмъстрaжу.	but they desired to have peace with him, which he granted them, and then put them out from thence, and took the city, and set a garrison in it.

Їwнаfaнъ же и3 п0лкъ є3гw2 пріид0ша къ водЁ геннисaръ:	As for Jonathan and his host, they pitched at the water of Gennesar, from whence betimes in the morning they gat them to the plain of Nasor.

и3 и3д0ша ќтрw рaнw на п0ле насHръ, и3 сE, п0лкъ и3ноплемeнникwвъ срёте є3го2 на п0ли, и3 постaвиша нaнь лови1телство въ горaхъ, сaми же срэт0ша tсупроти1ву.	And, behold, the host of strangers met them in the plain, who, having laid men in ambush for him in the mountains, came themselves over against him.
69	69
Лови1телє же востaша t мёстъ свои1хъ и3 состaвиша рaть,	So when they that lay in ambush rose out of their places, and joined battle, all that were of Jonathan's side fled;
70	70
и3 побэг0ша и5же со їwнаfaномъ вси2, и3 ни є3ди1нъ њстaсz t ни1хъ, т0кмw маттаfjа сhнъ ґвессалHмовъ, и3 їyда сhнъ халфjевъ, нач†лницы вои1нскихъ си1лъ.	insomuch as there was not one of them left, except Mattathias the son of Absalom, and Judas the son of Calphi, the captains of the host.

И# растерзA їwнаfaнъ ри6зы сво‰, и3 возложи2 зeмлю на главY свою2, и3 помоли1сz:	Then Jonathan rent his clothes, and cast earth upon his head, and prayed.

и3 њбрати1сz на ни1хъ брaнію и3 побэди2 и5хъ, и3 бэг0ша.	Afterwards turning again to battle, he put them to flight, and so they ran away.

И# ви1дэша свои2 бэжaвшіи t негw2, и3 њбрати1шасz къ немY, и3 гнaша съ ни1мъ дaже до кaдиса, дaже до полкA и4хъ, и3 њполчи1шасz тaмw.	Now when his own men that were fled saw this, they turned again unto him, and with him pursued them to Cades, even unto their own tents, and there they camped.

И# пад0ша t и3ноплемє1нникъ въ дeнь т0й три2 тhсzщы мужeй. и3 возврати1сz їwнаfaнъ во їеrли1мъ.	So there were slain of the heathen that day about three thousand men: but Jonathan returned to Jerusalem.
