In the hundred and sixtieth year Alexander, the son of Antiochus surnamed Epiphanes, went up and took Ptolemais: for the people had received him, by means whereof he reigned there.

И# слhша дими1трій цaрь, и3 собрA в0євъ мн0гw ѕэлw2, и3 и3зhде проти1ву є3мY на брaнь.	Now when king Demetrius heard thereof, he gathered together an exceeding great host, and went forth against him to fight.

И# послA дими1трій ко їwнаfaну є3пістHліи словесы2 ми1рными, величaz є3го2.	Moreover Demetrius sent letters unto Jonathan with loving words, so as he magnified him.

Речe бо: предвари1мъ сотвори1ти ми1ръ съ ни1мъ, прeжде нeже сотвори1тъ со ґлеxaндромъ проти1ву нaсъ:	For said he, Let us first make peace with him, before he join with Alexander against us:

воспомsнетъ бо вс‰ ѕл†z, ±же сотвори1хомъ на него2 и3 на брaтію є3гw2 и3 на kзhкъ є3гw2.	else he will remember all the evils that we have done against him, and against his brethren and his people.

И# дадE є3мY влaсть собирaти в0ины и3 ўготовлsти nр{жіz, и3 бhти є3мY дрyгомъ є3гw2, и3 зал0гъ, и4же бЁ въ краегрaдіи, повелЁ tдaти є3мY.	Wherefore he gave him authority to gather together an host, and to provide weapons, that he might aid him in battle: he commanded also that the hostages that were in the tower should be delivered him.

И# пріи1де їwнаfaнъ во їеrли1мъ и3 прочтE є3пістHліи во ўслhшаніе всBмъ лю1демъ и3 и5же t краегрaдіz.	Then came Jonathan to Jerusalem, and read the letters in the audience of all the people, and of them that were in the tower:

И# ўстраши1шасz стрaхомъ вeліимъ, є3гдA ўслhшаша, ћкw дадE є3мY цaрь влaсть собирaти в0ины.	who were sore afraid, when they heard that the king had given him authority to gather together an host.

И# предaша и5же t краегрaдіz їwнаfaну зал0гъ, и3 tдадE и5хъ роди1телємъ и4хъ.	Whereupon they of the tower delivered their hostages unto Jonathan, and he delivered them unto their parents.

И# њбитA їwнаfaнъ во їеrли1мэ, и3 начA созидaти и3 њбновлsти грaдъ,	This done, Jonathan settled himself in Jerusalem, and began to build and repair the city.

и3 речE ко творsщымъ дэлA созидaти стёны и3 г0ру сіHнъ w4крестъ t кaменій четвероуг0лныхъ ко ўтверждeнію, и3 сотвори1ша си1це.	And he commanded the workmen to build the walls and the mount Sion round about with square stones for fortification; and they did so.

И# побэг0ша и3ноплемє1нницы, и5же бsху въ твердhнехъ, ±же создA вакхjдъ:	Then the strangers, that were in the fortresses which Bacchides had built, fled away;

и3 њстaви кjйждо мёсто своE и3 tи1де въ зeмлю свою2.	insomuch as every man left his place, and went into his own country.

Nбaче въ веfсyрэ њстaшасz нёцыи t њстaвльшихъ зак0нъ и3 зaпwвэди (б9іz): бё бо и5мъ ўбёжище.	Only at Bethsura certain of those that had forsaken the law and the commandments remained still: for it was their place of refuge.

И# слhша ґлеxaндръ цaрь њбэщ†ніz, є3ли6ка послA дими1трій їwнаfaну, и3 повёдаша є3мY бр†ни и3 мyжєства, ±же сотвори2 т0й и3 брaтіz є3гw2, и3 труды2, ±же и3мёху.	Now when king Alexander had heard what promises Demetrius had sent unto Jonathan: when also it was told him of the battles and noble acts which he and his brethren had done, and of the pains that they had endured,

И# речE: є3дA њбрsщемъ к0его мyжа таковA; и3 нн7э сотвори1мъ є3го2 въ дрyга и3 споб0рника нaшего.	he said, Shall we find such another man? now therefore we will make him our friend and confederate.

И# написA є3пістHліи и3 послA є3мY по словесє1мъ си6мъ, глаг0лz:	Upon this he wrote a letter, and sent it unto him, according to these words, saying,

цaрь ґлеxaндръ брaту їwнаfaну рaдоватисz:	King Alexander to his brother Jonathan sendeth greeting:

слhшахомъ њ тебЁ, ћкw мyжъ си1ленъ є3си2 крёпостію и3 ўг0денъ є3си2 бhти нaмъ дрyгъ:	We have heard of thee, that thou art a man of great power, and meet to be our friend.

и3 нн7э постaвихомъ тS днeсь ґрхіерeа kзhка твоегw2, и3 є4же дрyгомъ царeвымъ нарицaтисz (и3 послA є3мY порфЂру и3 вэнeцъ злaтъ), и3 мyдрствовати т†zжде съ нaми и3 снабдэвaти дрyжбу къ нaмъ.	Wherefore now this day we ordain thee to be the high priest of thy nation, and to be called the king's friend; (and therewithal he sent him a purple robe and a crown of gold:) and require thee to take our part, and keep friendship with us.

И# њблечeсz їwнаfaнъ во свzтyю ри1зу седмaгw мцcа лёта сто2 шестьдесsтагw, въ дeнь прaздника сэнопотчeніz, и3 собрA си6лы и3 ўгот0ва nр{жіz мнHга.	So in the seventh month of the hundred and sixtieth year, at the feast of the tabernacles, Jonathan put on the holy robe, and gathered together forces, and provided much armour.

И# слhша дими1трій словесA сі‰, и3 њпечaлисz ѕэлw2, и3 речE:	Whereof when Demetrius heard, he was very sorry, and said,

что2 сіE сотвори1хомъ, ћкw предвари2 нaсъ ґлеxaндръ состaвити дрyжбу со їудє1и во ўтверждeніе;	What have we done, that Alexander hath prevented us in making amity with the Jews to strengthen himself?

напишY и3 ѓзъ и5мъ словесA проси1тєлнаz и3 возвышє1ніz и3 дaры, ћкw да бyдутъ со мн0ю въ п0мощь.	I also will write unto them words of encouragement, and promise them dignities and gifts, that I may have their aid.

И# написA и5мъ по словесє1мъ си6мъ: цaрь дими1трій kзhку їудeйскому рaдоватисz:	He sent unto them therefore to this effect: King Demetrius unto the people of the Jews sendeth greeting:

понeже сохрани1сте завёты къ нaмъ и3 пребывaсте въ дрyжбэ нaшей и3 не приступи1сте ко врагHмъ нaшымъ, слhшахомъ и3 рaдовахомсz:	Whereas ye have kept covenants with us, and continued in our friendship, not joining yourselves with our enemies, we have heard hereof, and are glad.

и3 нн7э пребывaйте є3щE сохрани1ти къ нaмъ вёру, и3 воздади1мъ вaмъ благ†z, и4хже рaди творитE съ нaми,	Wherefore now continue ye still to be faithful unto us, and we will well recompense you for the things ye do in our behalf,

и3 њстaвимъ вaмъ д†ни мнHги, и3 дади1мъ вaмъ дaры:	and will grant you many immunities, and give you rewards.

и3 нн7э своб0дныхъ творю2 вaсъ и3 њставлsю всBмъ їудewмъ д†ни и3 цёну t с0ли и3 t вэнцє1въ:	And now do I free you, and for your sake I release all the Jews, from tributes, and from the customs of salt, and from crown taxes,

и3 є4же вмёстw трети1ны сёмене и3 вмёстw полови1ны плодA древeснагw надлежaщагw ми2 взsти, њставлsю t днeсь и3 пот0мъ, є4же не взимaти t земли2 їyдины и3 t тріeхъ стрaнъ прилежaщихъ є4й, t самарjи и3 галілeи, и3 t днeшнzгw днE и3 въ вёчное врeмz:	and from that which appertaineth unto me to receive for the third part of the seed, and the half of the fruit of the trees, I release it from this day forth, so that they shall not be taken of the land of Juda, nor of the three governments which are added thereunto out of the country of Samaria and Galilee, from this day forth for evermore.

и3 їеrли1мъ да бyдетъ с™ъ и3 своб0денъ со предBлы свои1ми, и3 десzти6ны и3 д†ни:	Let Jerusalem also be holy and free, with the borders thereof, both from tenths and tributes.

њставлsю и3 влaсть краегрaдіz є4же во їеrли1мэ, и3 даю2 ґрхіерeю, да постaвитъ въ нeмъ мyжы, и5хже ѓще и3зберeтъ сaмъ, храни1ти є3го2:	And as for the tower which is at Jerusalem, I yield up my authority over it, and give it to the high priest, that he may set in it such men as he shall choose to keep it.

и3 всsку дyшу їудeйскую, ћже плэнeна є4сть t земли2 їyдины, во всeмъ цaрствэ моeмъ њставлsю своб0дну тyне, и3 вси2 да њстaвzтсz t дaней и3 скотHвъ свои1хъ:	Moreover I freely set at liberty every one of the Jews, that were carried captives out of the land of Juda into any part of my kingdom, and I will that all my officers remit the tributes even of their cattle.

и3 вси2 прaздницы и3 суббw6ты и3 новомчcіz и3 днjе вчинeнніи, и3 три2 дни6 прeжде прaздника и3 три2 дни6 по прaздницэ, да бyдутъ вси2 днjе своб0ды и3 њставлeніz всBмъ їудewмъсyщымъ во цaрствіи моeмъ:	Furthermore I will that all the feasts, and sabbaths, and new moons, and solemn days, and the three days before the feast, and the three days after the feast, shall be all days of immunity and freedom for all the Jews in my realm.

и3 никто2 и3мёти бyдетъ влaсти дёлати и3 стужaти комY t ни1хъ њ всsцэй вeщи:	Also no man shall have authority to meddle with them, or to molest any of them in any matter.

и3 да напи1шутсz t їудє1й въ в0ины ц†рскіz до три1десzти тhсzщъ мужeй, и3 да дадyтсz и5мъ њбр0цы, ћкоже подобaетъ всBмъ в0ємъ ц†рскимъ:	I will further, that there be enrolled among the king's forces about thirty thousand men of the Jews, unto whom pay shall be given, as belongeth to all the king's forces.

и3 да постaвzтсz t ни1хъ въ твердhнехъ цaрскихъ вeліихъ, и3 t си1хъ постaвzтсz на потрє1бы цaрства сyщыz въ вёрность: и3 сyщіи над8 ни1ми и3 нач†лницы да бyдутъ t ни1хъ, и3 да х0дzтъ въ зак0нэхъ свои1хъ, ћкоже повелЁ цaрь въ земли2 їyдинэ:	And of them some shall be placed in the king's strong holds, of whom also some shall be set over the affairs of the kingdom, which are of trust: and I will that their overseers and governors be of themselves, and that they live after their own laws, even as the king hath commanded in the land of Judea.

и3 три2 предёлы, прилежaщіи їудeи t страны2 самарjйскіz, да приложaтсz ко їудeи, да вмэнsтсz бhти под8 є3ди1нымъ, є4же не послyшати и3нhz влaсти, но т0кмw ґрхіерeа:	And concerning the three governments that are added to Judea from the country of Samaria, let them be joined with Judea, that they may be reckoned to be under one, nor bound to obey other authority than the high priest's.

птолемаjду и3 предёлы є3S дaхъ въ дaръ с™ы6мъ, сyщымъ во їеrли1мэ, на прили1чное и3ждивeніе с™ы6мъ,	As for Ptolemais, and the land pertaining thereto, I give it as a free gift to the sanctuary at Jerusalem for the necessary expences of the sanctuary.

и3 ѓзъ дaмъ на к0еждо лёто пzтьнaдесzть тhсzщъ с‡кль сребрA t сокр0вищъ цaрскихъ t мёстъ прилежaщихъ:	Moreover I give every year fifteen thousand shekels of silver out of the king's accounts from the places appertaining.

и3 всsкое и3зли1шнее, є4же не воздaша t потрeбъ, ћкоже въ пeрвыхъ лётэхъ, tнн7э дадyтъ въ дэлA хрaму:	And all the overplus, which the officers paid not in as in former time, from henceforth shall be given toward the works of the temple.

и3 свhше си1хъ пsть тhсzщъ сjклей сребрA, и5хже взимaху t потрeбъ свzти1лища, ћкоже въ прeжнихъ лётэхъ t собрaніz на всsкое лёто, и3 сі‰ њставлsютсz, понeже надлежaтъ сі‰ жерцє1мъ служaщымъ:	And beside this, the five thousand shekels of silver, which they took from the uses of the temple out of the accounts year by year, even those things shall be released, because they appertain to the priests that minister.

и3 є3ли1цы ѓще прибёгнутъ къ цeркви сyщей во їеrли1мэхъ и3 во всёхъ предёлэхъ є3гw2, њдолжeни сyще цaрскими и3 всsкою вeщію, да tрэшaютсz, и3 вс‰ є3ли6ка сyть и5мъ во цaрствіи моeмъ:	And whosoever they be that flee unto the temple at Jerusalem, or be within the liberties thereof, being indebted unto the king, or for any other matter, let them be at liberty, and all that they have in my realm.

и3 созидaти и3 њбновлsти дэлA с™hхъ, и3 и3ждивeніе дaстсz t сокр0вища цaрскагw:	For the building also and repairing of the works of the sanctuary, expences shall be given out of the king's accounts.

и3 є4же созидaти стёны їеrли1ма и3 ўтверди1ти w4крестъ, и3 и3ждивeніе дaстсz t собрaніz цaрска, и3 є4же создaти стёны во їудeи.	Yea, and for the building of the walls of Jerusalem, and the fortifying thereof round about, expences shall be given out of the king's accounts, as also for the building of the walls in Judea.

Е#гдa же ўслhша їwнаfaнъ и3 лю1діе словесA сі‰, не вёроваша и5мъ, нижE пріsша, ћкw помzнyша ѕл0бу вeлію, ю4же сотвори2 во ї}ли, и3 њскорби2 и5хъ ѕэлw2.	Now when Jonathan and the people heard these words, they gave no credit unto them, nor received them, because they remembered the great evil that he had done in Israel; for he had afflicted them very sore.

И# благоволи1ша њ ґлеxaндрэ, ћкw сeй бhсть и5мъ начaлникъ словeсъ ми1рныхъ, и3 споборsху є3мY во вс‰ дни6.	But with Alexander they were well pleased, because he was the first that entreated of true peace with them, and they were confederate with him always.

И# собрA цaрь ґлеxaндръ си1лу вeлію и3 њполчи1сz проти1ву дими1тріа.	Then gathered king Alexander great forces, and camped over against Demetrius.

И# сотвори1ша брaнь двA цар‰, и3 побэжE п0лкъ дими1тріевъ, и3 гнA є3го2 ґлеxaндръ и3 ўкрэпи1сz на ни1хъ.	And after the two kings had joined battle, Demetrius' host fled: but Alexander followed after him, and prevailed against them.

И# превозм0же брaнь ѕэлw2, д0ндеже зaйде с0лнце, и3 падE дими1трій въ дeнь w4нъ.	And he continued the battle very sore until the sun went down: and that day was Demetrius slain.

И# послA ґлеxaндръ ко птоломeю царю2 є3гЂпетскому послы2 по словесє1мъ си6мъ, рекjй:	Afterward Alexander sent ambassadors to Ptolemee king of Egypt with a message to this effect:

понeже возврати1хсz въ зeмлю цaрства моегw2, и3 сэд0хъ на прест0лэ nтє1цъ мои1хъ, и3 њдержaхъ начaлство, и3 сокруши1хъ дими1тріа, и3 воз8wбладaхъ стран0ю нaшею,	Forasmuch as I am come again to my realm, and am set in the throne of my progenitors, and have gotten the dominion, and overthrown Demetrius, and recovered our country;

и3 состaвихъ проти1ву є3гw2 рaть, и3 сокруши1сz т0й и3 њполчeніе є3гw2 t нaсъ, и3 сэд0хомъ на прест0лэ цaрства є3гw2:	for after I had joined battle with him, both he and his host was discomfited by us, so that we sit in the throne of his kingdom:

и3 нн7э состaвимъ междY нaми дрyжбу, и3 нн7э дaждь мнЁ дщeрь твою2 въ женY, и3 бyду зsть тв0й, и3 дaмъ тебЁ дaры, и3 є4й достHйнаz тебє2.	now therefore let us make a league of amity together, and give me now thy daughter to wife: and I will be thy son in law, and will give both thee and her gifts according to thy dignity.

И# tвэщA цaрь птоломeй глаг0лz: блaгъ дeнь, въ џньже возврати1лсz є3си2 въ зeмлю nтє1цъ твои1хъ и3 сёлъ є3си2 на прест0лэ цaрства и4хъ:	Then Ptolemee the king gave answer, saying, Happy be the day wherein thou didst return into the land of thy fathers, and satest in the throne of their kingdom.

и3 нн7э сотворю2 ти2, ±же писaлъ є3си2: но срsщисz во птолемаjдэ, ћкw да ви1димъ дрyгъ дрyга, и3 бyдеши ми2 зsть, ћкоже рeклъ є3си2.	And now will I do to thee, as thou hast written: meet me therefore at Ptolemais, that we may see one another; for I will marry my daughter to thee according to thy desire.

И# и3зhде птоломeй t є3гЂпта сaмъ и3 клеопaтра дщи2 є3гw2, и3 внид0ша во птолемаjду лёта сто2 шестьдесsтъ вторaгw.	So Ptolemee went out of Egypt with his daughter Cleopatra, and they came unto Ptolemais in the hundred threescore and second year:

И# срёте є3го2 ґлеxaндръ цaрь: и3 дадE є3мY клеопaтру дщeрь свою2 и3 сотвори2 брaкъ є3S во птолемаjдэ, ћкоже цaріе во слaвэ вели1цэй.	where king Alexander meeting him, he gave unto him his daughter Cleopatra, and celebrated her marriage at Ptolemais with great glory, as the manner of kings is.

И# написA ґлеxaндръ цaрь їwнаfaну пріити2 во срётеніе є3мY.	Now king Alexander had written unto Jonathan, that he should come and meet him.

И# и4де со слaвою во птолемаjду и3 срёте џба цар‰: и3 дадE и4ма сребро2 и3 злaто и3 другHмъ и4хъ, и3 дaры мнHги, и3 њбрёте благодaть пред8 ни1ма.	Who thereupon went honourably to Ptolemais, where he met the two kings, and gave them and their friends silver and gold, and many presents, and found favour in their sight.

И# собрaшасz нaнь мyжіе губи1телє t ї}лz, мyжіе беззак0нніи клеветaти нaнь. и3 не внsтъ и5мъ цaрь.	At that time certain pestilent fellows of Israel, men of a wicked life, assembled themselves against him, to accuse him: but the king would not hear them.

И# повелЁ цaрь совлещи2 їwнаfaна съ ри1зъ є3гw2 и3 њблещи2 є3го2 въ порфЂру. и3 сотвори1ша тaкw.	Yea more than that, the king commanded to take off his garments, and clothe him in purple: and they did so.

И# посади2 є3го2 цaрь съ соб0ю и3 речE начaлникwмъ свои6мъ: и3зыди1те съ ни1мъ на средY грaда и3 проповёдите ни є3ди1ному клеветaти нaнь ни њ є3ди1нэй вeщи, и3 ни є3ди1нъ є3мY да стужи1тъ њ всsцэмъ глаг0лэ.	Also he made him sit by himself, and said unto his princes, Go with him into the midst of the city, and make proclamation, that no man complain against him of any matter, and that no man trouble him for any manner of cause.

И# бhсть є3гдA ўви1дэша клеветницы2 слaву є3гw2, ћкоже проповёдаша, и3 њблечeна є3го2 порфЂрою, и3 бэжaша вси2.	Now when his accusers saw that he was honoured according to the proclamation, and clothed in purple, they fled all away.

И# прослaви є3го2 цaрь, и3 написA є3го2 въ пeрвыхъ друзёхъ, и3 постaви є3го2 воев0ду и3 ўчaстника начaлства.	So the king honoured him, and wrote him among his chief friends, and made him a duke, and partaker of his dominion.

И# возврати1сz їwнаfaнъ во їеrли1мъ съ ми1ромъ и3 весeліемъ.	Afterward Jonathan returned to Jerusalem with peace and gladness.

И# въ лёто сто2 шестьдесsтъ пsтое пріи1де дими1трій сhнъ дими1тріевъ t кри1та въ зeмлю nтє1цъ свои1хъ.	Furthermore in the hundred threescore and fifth year came Demetrius son of Demetrius out of Crete into the land of his fathers:

И# слhша ґлеxaндръ цaрь, и3 њпечaлисz ѕэлw2, и3 возврати1сz во ґнтіохjю.	whereof when king Alexander heard tell, he was right sorry, and returned into Antioch.

И# постaви дими1трій ґполлHніа сyщаго t кілісmрjи: и3 собрA си1лу вeлію, и3 њполчи1сz во їамнjи, и3 послA ко їwнаfaну ґрхіерeю, глаг0лz:	Then Demetrius made Apollonius the governor of Celosyria his general, who gathered together a great host, and camped in Jamnia, and sent unto Jonathan the high priest, saying,

тh ли є3ди1нъ возн0сишисz на ны2, ѓзъ же бhхъ въ посмёхъ и3 въ поношeніе тебє2 рaди: и3 чесw2 рaди ты2 влaстелствуеши над8 нaми въ горaхъ;	Thou alone liftest up thyself against us, and I am laughed to scorn for thy sake, and reproached: and why dost thou vaunt thy power against us in the mountains?

нн7э u5бо, ѓще надёешисz въ си1лахъ твои1хъ, и3зhди къ нaмъ на п0ле и3 и3скуси1мсz тY междY соб0ю, ћкw со мн0ю є4сть си1ла градHвъ:	Now therefore, if thou trustest in thine own strength, come down to us into the plain field, and there let us try the matter together: for with me is the power of the cities.

вопроси2 и3 научи1сz, кто2 є4смь; и3 пр0чіи помогaющіи нaмъ, и3 глаг0лютъ: нёсть вaмъ стоsніz ноги2 пред8 лицeмъ нaшимъ, ћкw двaщи въ бёгъ њбрати1шасz nтцы2 твои2 въ земли2 и4хъ:	Ask and learn who I am, and the rest that take our part, and they shall tell thee that thy foot is not able to stand before our face; for thy fathers have been twice put to flight in their own land.

и3 нн7э не возм0жеши стерпёти к0нника и3 си1лы таковhz въ п0ли, и3дёже нёсть кaмене, ни стэны2, ни мёста къ бэжaнію.	Wherefore now thou shalt not be able to abide the horsemen and so great a power in the plain, where is neither stone nor flint, nor place to flee unto.

Е#гдa же ўслhша їwнаfaнъ словесA ґполлHнієва, подви1жесz мhслію, и3 и3збрA дeсzть тhсzщъ мужeй, и3 и3зhде и3з8 їеrли1ма, и3 сни1десz съ ни1мъ сjмwнъ брaтъ є3гw2 въ п0мощь є3мY.	So when Jonathan heard these words of Apollonius, he was moved in his mind, and choosing ten thousand men he went out of Jerusalem, where Simon his brother met him for to help him.

И# њполчи1сz на їoппjю, и3 заступи1ша є3мY t грaда, ћкw стрaжа ґполлHніева въ їoппjи бhсть, и3 рaтоваша ю5.	And he pitched his tents against Joppe: but they shut him out of the city, because Apollonius had a garrison in Joppe.

Whereof when Apollonius heard, he took three thousand horsemen, with a great host of footmen, and went to Azotus as one that journeyed, and therewithal drew him forth into the plain, because he had a great number of horsemen, in whom he put his trust.

И# њстaви ґполлHній тhсzщу кHнникъ созади2 и4хъ въ тaйнэ.	Now Apollonius had left a thousand horsemen in ambush.

И# познA їwнаfaнъ, ћкw є4сть засaда созади2 є3гw2. и3 њкружи1ша п0лкъ є3гw2 и3 стрэлsху на лю1ди t ќтра дaже до вeчера,	And Jonathan knew that there was an ambushment behind him; for they had compassed in his host, and cast darts at the people, from morning till evening.

лю1діе же стоsша, ћкоже заповёда їwнаfaнъ: и3 ўтруди1шасz к0ни и4хъ.	But the people stood still, as Jonathan had commanded them: and so the enemies' horses were tired.

И# приведE сjмwнъ си1лу свою2 и3 нападE на п0лкъ: кHнницы бо ўтруждeни бsху, и3 сокруши1шасz t негw2 и3 побэг0ша,	Then brought Simon forth his host, and set them against the footmen, (for the horsemen were spent,) who were discomfited by him, and fled.

и3 кHнницы расточи1шасz по п0лю и3 бэг0ша во ґзHтъ, и3 внид0ша въ виfдагHнъ кaпище є3гw2, є4же ўцэлёти.	The horsemen also, being scattered in the field, fled to Azotus, and went into Beth-dagon, their idol's temple, for safety.

И# пожжE їwнаfaнъ ґзHтъ и3 грaды и5же бёху w4крестъ є3гw2, и3 взS коры6сти и4хъ и3 кaпище дагHново, и3 вбёгшихъ въ нE пожжE nгнeмъ.	But Jonathan set fire on Azotus, and the cities round about it, and took their spoils; and the temple of Dagon, with them that were fled into it, he burned with fire.

И# бhсть пaдшихъ мечeмъ съ сожжeными ћкw џсмь тhсzщъ мужeй.	Thus there were burned and slain with the sword well nigh eight thousand men.

И# tи1де tтyду їwнаfaнъ и3 пріи1де во ґскалHнъ, и3 и3зыд0ша t грaда во срётеніе є3мY въ слaвэ вели1цэй.	And from thence Jonathan removed his host, and camped against Ascalon, where the men of the city came forth, and met him with great pomp.

И# возврати1сz їwнаfaнъ во їеrли1мъ съ сyщими съ ни1мъ, и3мyще коры6сти мнHги.	After this returned Jonathan and his host unto Jerusalem, having many spoils.

И# бhсть є3гдA ўслhша ґлеxaндръ цaрь словесA сі‰, и3 приложи2 прослaвити їwнаfaна:	Now when king Alexander heard these things, he honoured Jonathan yet more,

и3 послA є3мY гри1вну златyю ћкоже њбhчай є4сть даsти ср0дникwмъ царє1вымъ, и3 дадE є3мY ґккарHнъ и3 вс‰ предёлы є3гw2 во њдержaніе.	and sent him a buckle of gold, as the use is to be given to such as are of the king's blood: he gave him also Accaron with the borders thereof in possession.
