Chapter 6	Глава 6

Now Jericho was closely shut up and besieged, and none went out of it, and none came in.	Тоді сказав Господь Ісусові: ось, Я віддаю в руки твої Єрихон і царя його, [і тих, що знаходяться в ньому,] людей сильних;

And the Lord said to Joshua, Behold, I deliver Jericho into thy power, and its king in it, and its mighty men.	підіть навколо міста всі здатні до війни й обходьте місто один раз [на день]; і це роби шість днів;

And do thou set the men of war round about it.	і сім священиків нехай несуть сім труб ювілейних перед ковчегом; а в сьомий день обійдіть навколо міста сім разів, і священики нехай сурмлять трубами;

And it shall be that when ye shall sound with the trumpet, all the people shall shout together. And when they have shouted, the walls of the city shall fall of themselves; and all the people shall enter, each one rushing direct into the city.	І прикликав Ісус, син Навина, священиків [Ізраїлевих] і сказав їм: несіть ковчег завіту; а сім священиків нехай несуть сім труб ювілейних перед ковчегом Господнім.

And Joshua the son of Naue went in to the priests,	І сказав [їм, щоб вони сказали] народу: підіть і обійдіть навколо міста; озброєні ж нехай ідуть перед ковчегом Господнім.

and spoke to them, saying, Charge the people to go round, and encompass the city; and let your men of war pass on armed before the Lord.	Як скоро Ісус сказав народу, сім священиків, які несли сім труб ювілейних перед Господом, пішли і засурмили [гучно] трубами, і ковчег завіту Господнього йшов за ними;

And let seven priests having seven sacred trumpets proceed thus before the Lord, and let them sound loudly; and let the ark of the covenant of the Lord follow.	озброєні ж ішли попереду священиків, які сурмили трубами; а ті, що позаду, йшли за ковчегом [завіту Господнього] і під час ходу сурмили трубами.

And let the men of war proceed before, and the priests bringing up the rear behind the ark of the covenant of the Lord proceed sounding the trumpets.	Народу ж Ісус дав повеління і сказав: не викликуйте і не давайте чути голосу вашого, і щоб слово не виходило з уст ваших до того дня, доки я не скажу вам: «викликніть!» і тоді викликнете.

And Joshua commanded the people, saying, Cry not out, nor let any one hear your voice, until he himself declare to you the time to cry out, and then ye shall cry out.	У такий спосіб ковчег [завіту] Господнього пішов навколо міста й обійшов один раз; і прийшли в стан і ночували в стані.

And the ark of the covenant of God having gone round immediately returned into the camp, and lodged there.	[На другий день] Ісус встав рано-вранці, і священики понесли ковчег [завіту] Господнього;

And on the second day Joshua rose up in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the covenant of the Lord.	і сім священиків, які несли сім труб ювілейних перед ковчегом Господнім, ішли і сурмили трубами; озброєні ж ішли попереду них, а ті, що позаду, йшли за ковчегом [завіту] Господнього і, йдучи, сурмили трубами.

And the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets went on before the Lord; and afterwards the men of war went on, and the remainder of the multitude went after the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.	Таким чином і на другий день обійшли навколо міста один раз і повернулися в стан. І робили це шість днів.

And all the rest of the multitude compassed the city six times from within a short distance, and went back again into the camp; this they did six days.	В сьомий день встали рано, з появою зорі, і обійшли в такий самий спосіб навколо міста сім разів; тільки в цей день обійшли навколо міста сім разів.

And on the seventh day they rose up early, and compassed the city on that day seven times.	Коли в сьомий раз священики сурмили трубами, Ісус сказав народу: викликніть, бо Господь віддав вам місто!

And it came to pass at the seventh circuit the priests blew the trumpets; and Joshua said to the children of Israel, Shout, for the Lord has given you the city.	місто буде під закляттям, і все, що в ньому, — Господу [сил]; тільки Раав блудниця нехай залишиться в живих, вона і всякий, хто в її домі; тому що вона сховала посланих, яких ми посилали;

And the city shall be devoted, it and all things that are in it, to the Lord of Hosts: only do ye save Raab the harlot, and all things in her house.	але ви бережіться заклятого, щоб і самим не піддатися закляттю, якщо візьмете що-небудь із заклятого, і щоб на стан [синів] Ізраїлевих не навести закляття і не зробити йому лиха;

But keep yourselves strictly from the accursed thing, lest ye set your mind upon and take of the accursed thing, and ye make the camp of the children of Israel an accursed thing, and destroy us.	і все срібло і золото, і сосуди мідні й залізні нехай будуть святинею Господу і ввійдуть у скарбницю Господню.

And all the silver, or gold, or brass, or iron, shall be holy to the Lord; it shall be carried into the treasury of the Lord.	Народ викликнув, і засурмили трубами. Як тільки почув народ голос труби, викликнув народ [весь разом] гучним [і сильним] голосом, і впала [вся] стіна [міста] до своєї основи, і [весь] народ пішов у місто, кожен зі своєї сторони, і взяли місто.

And the priests sounded with the trumpets: and when the people heard the trumpets, all the people shouted at once with a loud and strong shout; and all the wall fell round about, and all the people went up into the city:	І піддали закляттю усе, що в місті, і чоловіків і дружин, і молодих і старих, і волів, і овець, і ослів, [усе] знищили мечем.

and Joshua devoted it to destruction, and all things that were in the city, man and woman, young man and old, and calf and ass, with the edge of the sword.	А двом юнакам, які видивлялися землю, Ісус сказав: підіть у дім тієї блудниці і виведіть звідти її і всіх, які у неї, тому що ви поклялися їй.

And Joshua said to the two young men who had acted as spies, Go into the house of the woman, and bring her out thence, and all that she has.	І пішли юнаки, які видивлялися [місто, у дім жінки] і вивели Раав [блудницю] і батька її і матір її, і братів її, і всіх, які у неї були, і всіх родичів її вивели, і поставили їх поза станом Ізраїльським.

And the two young men who had spied out the city entered into the house of the woman, and brought out Raab the harlot, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and her kindred, and all that she had; and they set her without the camp of Israel.	А місто й усе, що в ньому, спалили вогнем; тільки срібло і золото й сосуди мідні й залізні віддали, [щоб внести Господу] у скарбницю дому Господнього.

And the city was burnt with fire with all things that were in it; only of the silver, and gold, and brass, and iron, they gave to be brought into the treasury of the Lord.	Раав же блудницю і дім батька її і всіх, які у неї були, Ісус залишив у живих, і вона живе серед Ізраїля до цього дня, тому що вона сховала посланих, яких посилав Ісус для вивідання Єрихона.

And Joshua saved alive Raab the harlot, and all the house of her father, and caused her to dwell in Israel until this day, because she hid the spies which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.	У той час Ісус поклявся і сказав: проклятий перед Господом той, хто відновить і побудує місто це Єрихон; на первістку своєму він покладе основу його і на молодшому своєму поставить ворота його. [Так і зробив Азан, родом з Вефиля: він на Авироні, первістку своєму, заснував його і на молодшому, врятованому, поставив ворота його.]

And Joshua adjured them on that day before the Lord, saying, Cursed be the man who shall build that city: he shall lay the foundation of it in his first-born, and he shall set up the gates of it in his youngest son. And so did Hozan of Bæthel; he laid the foundation in Abiron his first-born, and set up the gates of it in his youngest surviving son.	І Господь був з Ісусом, і слава його носилася по всій землі.

And the Lord was with Joshua, and his name was in all the land.
