Chapter 12	Глава 12

And the men of Ephraim assembled themselves, and passed on to the north, and said to Jephthae, Wherefore didst thou go over to fight with the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thy house over thee with fire.	Єфремляни зібралися і перейшли в Севину і сказали Ієффаю: для чого ти ходив воювати з аммонитянами, а нас не покликав із собою? ми спалимо дім твій вогнем і з тобою разом.

And Jephthae said to them, I and my people and the children of Ammon were very much engaged in war; and I called for you, and ye did not save me out of their hand.	Ієффай сказав їм: я і народ мій мали з аммонитянами велику сварку; я кликав вас, але ви не спасли мене від рук їх;

And I saw that thou wert no helper, and I put my life in my hand, and passed on to the sons of Ammon; and the Lord delivered them into my hand: and wherefore are ye come up against me this day to fight with me?	бачачи, що ви не спасаєте мене, я піддав небезпеці життя моє і пішов на аммонитян, і віддав їх Господь у руки мої; навіщо ж ви прийшли нині воювати зі мною?

And Jephthae gathered all the men of Galaad, and fought with Ephraim; and the men of Galaad smote Ephraim, because they that were escaped of Ephraim said, Ye are of Galaad in the midst of Ephraim and in the midst of Manasse.	І зібрав Ієффай усіх жителів галаадських і воював з єфремлянами, і розбили жителі галаадські єфремлян, говорячи: ви утікачі Єфремові, Галаад же серед Єфрема і серед Манассії.

And Galaad took the fords of Jordan before Ephraim; and they that escaped of Ephraim said to them, Let us go over: and the men of Galaad said, Art thou an Ephrathite? and he said, No.	І перехопили галаадитяни переправу через Йордан від єфремлян, і коли хто з уцілілих єфремлян говорив: «дозвольте мені переправитися», то жителі галаадські говорили йому: чи не єфремлянин ти? Він говорив: ні.

Then they said to him, Say now Stachys; and he did not rightly pronounce it so: and they took him, and slew him at the fords of Jordan; and there fell at that time of Ephraim two and forty thousand.	Вони говорили йому: «скажи: шибболет», а він говорив: «сибболет», і не міг інакше вимовити. Тоді вони, узявши його, заколювали біля переправи через Йордан. І загинуло в той час єфремлян сорок дві тисячі.

And Jephthae judged Israel six years; and Jephthae the Galaadite died, and was buried in his city Galaad.	Ієффай був суддею Ізраїля шість років, і помер Ієффай галаадитянин і похований в одному з міст галаадських.

And after him Abaissan of Bethleem judged Israel.	Після нього був суддею Ізраїля Есевон з Вифлеєма.

And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters, whom he sent forth; and he brought in thirty daughters for his sons from without; and he judged Israel seven years.	У нього було тридцять синів, і тридцять дочок відпустив він з дому [заміж], а тридцять дочок узяв зі сторони за синів своїх, і був суддею Ізраїля сім років.

And Abaissan died, and was buried in Bethleem.	І помер Есевон і похований у Вифлеємі.

And after him Ælom of Zabulon judged Israel ten years.	Після нього був суддею Ізраїля Елон завулонянин і судив Ізраїль десять років.

And Ælom of Zabulon died, and was buried in Ælom in the land of Zabulon.	І помер Елон завулонянин і похований в Аїалоні, в землі Завулоновій.

And after him Abdon the son of Ellel, the Pharathonite, judged Israel.	Після нього був суддею Ізраїля Авдон, син Гиллела, пирафонянин.

And he had forty sons, and thirty grandsons, that rode upon seventy colts: and he judged Israel eight years.	У нього було сорок синів і тридцять онуків, які їздили на сімдесяти молодих ослах; він судив Ізраїль вісім років.

And Abdon the son of Ellel, the Pharathonite, died, and was buried in Pharathon in the land of Ephraim in the mount of Amalec.	І помер Авдон, син Гиллела, пирафонянин, і похований у Пирафоні в землі Єфремовій, на горі Амаликовій.
