| If a man put away his wife, and she depart from him, and become another man's, shall she return to him any more at all? shall not that woman be utterly defiled? yet thou hast gone a-whoring with many shepherds, and hast returned to me, saith the Lord. | Говорять: «якщо чоловік відпустить дружину свою, і вона відійде від нього і зробиться дружиною іншого чоловіка, то чи може вона повернутися до нього? Чи не осквернилася б цим країна та?» А ти з багатьма коханцями блудодіяла, — і однак же повернися до Мене, — говорить Господь. |

| Lift up thine eyes to look straight forward, and see where thou hast not been utterly defiled. Thou hast sat for them by the wayside as a deserted crow, and hast defiled the land with thy fornications and thy wickedness. | Зведи очі твої на висоти і подивися, де не блудодіяли з тобою? Біля дороги сиділа ти для них, як аравитянин у пустелі, й осквернила землю блудом твоїм і лукавством твоїм. |

| And thou didst retain many shepherds for a stumbling-block to thyself: thou hadst a whore's face, thou didst become shameless toward all. | За те були утримані дощі, і не було дощу пізнього; але у тебе було чоло блудниці, ти відкинула сором. |

| Hast thou not called me as it were a home, and the father and guide of thy virgin-time? | Чи не будеш ти відтепер волати до Мене: «Отче мій! Ти був путівником юности моєї! |

| Will God's anger continue for ever, or be preserved to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done these bad things, and hadst power to do them. | Невже завжди буде Він у гніві? і невже вічно буде утримувати його у Собі?» Ось, що говориш ти, а робиш зло і досягаєш успіхів у ньому. |

| And the Lord said to me in the days of Josias the king, Hast thou seen what things the house of Israel has done to me? they have gone on every high mountain, and under every shady tree, and have committed fornication there. | Господь сказав мені у дні Іосії царя: чи бачив ти, що робила відступниця, дочка Ізраїля? Вона ходила на всяку високу гору і під усяке гіллясте дерево і там блудодіяла. |

| And I said after she had committed all these acts of fornication, Turn again to me. Yet she returned not. And faithless Juda saw her faithlessness. | І після того, як вона усе це робила, Я говорив: «повернися до Мене»; але вона не повернулася; і бачила це віроломна сестра її Юдея. |

| And I saw that (for all the sins of which she was convicted, wherein the house of Israel committed adultery, and I put her away, and gave into her hands a bill of divorcement,) yet faithless Juda feared not, but went and herself also committed fornication. | І Я бачив, що, коли за усі перелюбні дії відступниці, дочки Ізраїля, Я відпустив її і дав їй розвідний лист, віроломна сестра її Юдея не убоялась, а пішла і сама блудодіяла. |

| And her fornication was nothing accounted of; and she committed adultery with wood and stone. | І неприхованим блудодійством вона осквернила землю, і перелюбствувала з каменем і деревом. |

| And for all these things faithless Juda turned not to me with all her heart, but falsely. | Але при усьому цьому віроломна сестра її Юдея не навернулася до Мене усім серцем своїм, а тільки удавано, — говорить Господь. |

| And the Lord said to me, Israel has justified himself more than faithless Juda. | І сказав мені Господь: відступниця, дочка Ізраїлева, виявилася правішою, ніж віроломна Юдея. |
|

| Go and read these words toward the north, and thou shalt say, Return to me, O house of Israel, saith the Lord; and I will not set my face against you: for I am merciful, saith the Lord, and I will not be angry with you for ever. | Йди і проголоси слова ці на північ, і скажи: навернися, відступнице, дочко Ізраїлева, — говорить Господь. Я не виллю на вас гніву Мого; бо Я милостивий, — говорить Господь, — не вічно буду обурюватися. |

| Nevertheless, know thine iniquity, that thou hast sinned against the Lord thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to strangers under every shady tree, but thou didst not hearken to my voice, saith the Lord. | Визнай тільки провину твою: бо ти відступила від Господа Бога твого і блудодіяла з чужими під усяким гіллястим деревом, а голосу Мого ви не слухали, — говорить Господь. |

| Turn, ye children that have revolted, saith the Lord; for I will rule over you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you in to Sion: | Поверніться, діти-відступники, — говорить Господь, — тому що Я поєднався з вами, і візьму вас по одному з міста, по двоє із племені, і приведу вас на Сион. |

| and I will give you shepherds after my heart, and they shall certainly tend you with knowledge. | І дам вам пастирів за серцем Моїм, які будуть пасти вас зі знанням і розсудливістю. |

| And it shall come to pass that when ye are multiplied and increased upon the land, saith the Lord, in those days they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the Holy One of Israel: it shall not come to mind; it shall not be named; neither shall it be visited; nor shall this be done any more. | І буде, коли ви розмножитеся і зробитеся багатоплідними на землі, у ті дні, — говорить Господь, — не будуть говорити більше: «ковчег завіту Господнього»; він і на думку не спаде, і не згадають про нього, і не будуть приходити до нього, і його вже не буде. |

| In those days and at that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the Lord; and all the nations shall be gathered to it: and they shall not walk any more after the imaginations of their evil heart. | У той час назвуть Єрусалим престолом Господа; і всі народи заради імені Господа зберуться в Єрусалим і не будуть більше чинити за впертістю злого серця свого. |

| In those days the house of Juda shall come together to the house of Israel, and they shall come, together, from the land of the north, and from all the countries, to the land, which I caused their fathers to inherit. | У ті дні прийде дім Іудин до дому Ізраїлевого, і підуть разом із землі північної у землю, яку Я дав у спадщину батькам вашим. |

| And I said, So be it, Lord, for thou saidst, I will set thee among children, and will give thee a choice land, the inheritance of the Almighty God of the Gentiles: and I said, Ye shall call me Father; and ye shall not turn away from me. | І говорив Я: як поставлю тебе у число дітей і дам тобі жадану землю, найпрекраснішу спадщину багатьох народів? І сказав: ти будеш називати Мене отцем твоїм і не відступиш від Мене. |

| But as a wife acts treacherously against her husband, so has the house of Israel dealt treacherously against me, saith the Lord. | Але воістину, як дружина віроломно зраджує друга свого, так віроломно вчинили зі Мною ви, дім Ізраїлів, — говорить Господь. |

| A voice from the lips was heard, even of weeping and supplication of the children of Israel: for they have dealt unrighteously in their ways, they have forgotten God their Holy One. | Голос чутно на висотах, жалібний плач синів Ізраїля за те, що вони спотворили шлях свій, забули Господа Бога свого. |

| Turn, ye children that are given to turning, and I will heal your bruises. Behold, we will be thy servants; for thou art the Lord our God. | Поверніться, бунтівливі діти: Я зцілю вашу непокору. — Ось, ми йдемо до Тебе, бо Ти — Господь Бог наш. |

| Truly the hills and the strength of the mountains were a lying refuge: but by the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel. | Воістину, марно надіялися ми на пагорби і на безліч гір; воістину, у Господі Бозі нашому спасіння Ізраїлеве! |

| But shame has consumed the labours of our fathers from our youth; their sheep and their calves, and their sons and their daughters. | Від юности нашої ця мерзота пожирала труди батьків наших, овець їхніх і волів їхніх, синів їхніх і дочок їхніх. |
|

|
| We have lain down in our shame, and our disgrace has covered us: because we and our fathers have sinned before our God, from our youth until this day; and we have not hearkened to the voice of the Lord our God. | Ми лежимо у соромі своєму, і сором наш покриває нас, тому що ми грішили перед Господом Богом нашим, — ми і батьки наші, від юности нашої і до цього дня, і не слухалися голосу Господа Бога нашого. |
