| Thus has the Lord said concerning Moab, Woe to Nabau! for it has perished: Cariathaim is taken: Amath and Agath are put to shame. | У той час, — говорить Господь, — Я буду Богом усім племенам Ізраїлевим, а вони будуть Моїм народом. |

| There is no longer any healing for Moab, nor glorying in Esebon: he has devised evils against her: we have cut her off from being a nation, and she shall be completely still: after thee shall go a sword; | Так говорить Господь: народ, який уцілів від меча, знайшов милість у пустелі; йду заспокоїти Ізраїля. |

| for there is a voice of men crying out of Oronaim, destruction and great ruin. | Здаля явився мені Господь і сказав: любов’ю вічною Я полюбив тебе і тому простяг до тебе благовоління. |

| Moab is ruined, proclaim it to Zogora: | Я знову влаштую тебе, і ти будеш улаштована, діво Ізраїлева, знову будеш прикрашатися тимпанами твоїми і виходити у хороводі тих, що веселяться; |

|
| for Aloth is filled with weeping: one shall go up weeping by the way of Oronaim; ye have heard a cry of destruction. | знову розведеш виноградники на горах Самарії; виноградарі, які будуть розводити їх, самі будуть і користуватися ними. |

| Flee ye, and save your lives, and ye shall be as a wild ass in the desert. | Бо буде день, коли вартові на горі Єфремовій проголосять: «вставайте, і зійдемо на Сион до Господа Бога нашого». |

| Since thou hast trusted in thy strong-hold, therefore thou shalt be taken: and Chamos shall go forth into captivity, and his priests, and his princes together. | Бо так говорить Господь: радісно співайте про Якова і викликуйте перед главою народів: проголошуйте, славте і говоріть: «спаси, Господи, народ Твій, залишок Ізраїля!» |

| And destruction shall come upon every city, it shall by no means escape; the valley also shall perish, and the plain country shall be completely destroyed, as the Lord has said. | Ось, Я приведу їх із країни північної і зберу їх із країв землі; сліпий і кульгавий, вагітна і породілля разом з ними, — великий сонм повернеться сюди. |

| Set marks upon Moab, for she shall be touched with a plague-spot, and all her cities shall become desolate; whence shall there be an inhabitant for her? | Вони пішли зі сльозами, а Я поведу їх з утіхою; поведу їх біля потоків вод дорогою рівною, на якій не спіткнуться; бо Я — отець Ізраїля, і Єфрем — первісток Мій. |

| Cursed is the man that does the works of the Lord carelessly, keeping back his sword from blood. | Слухайте слово Господнє, народи, і сповістіть островам віддаленим і скажіть: «Хто розсіяв Ізраїля, Той і збере його, і буде охороняти його, як пастир стадо своє»; |

| Moab has been at ease from a child, and trusted in his glory; he has not poured out his liquor from vessel to vessel, and has not gone into banishment, therefore his taste remained in him, and his smell departed not. | бо відкупить Господь Якова і визволить його від руки того, хто був сильнішим за нього. |

| Therefore, behold, his days come, saith the Lord, when I shall send upon him bad leaders, and they shall lead him astray, and they shall utterly break in pieces his possessions, and shall cut his horns asunder. | І прийдуть вони, і будуть торжествувати на висотах Сиону; і зберуться до благосердя Господа, до пшениці і вина і єлею, до агнців і волів; і душа їх буде як напоєний водою сад, і вони не будуть уже більше знемагати. |

| And Moab shall be ashamed of Chamos, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bæthel their hope, having trusted in them. | Тоді дівчина буде веселитися у хороводі, і юнаки і старці разом; і зміню сум їх на радість і втішу їх, і звеселю їх після скорботи їх. |

| How will ye say, We are strong, and men strong for war? | І насичу душу священиків жиром, і народ Мій насититься благами Моїми, — говорить Господь. |

|
| Moab is ruined, even his city, and his choice young men have gone down to slaughter. | Так говорить Господь: голос чутно у Рамі, крик і гірке ридання; Рахиль плаче за дітьми своїми і не хоче втішитися за дітей своїх, бо їх немає. |
|

| The day of Moab is near at hand, and his iniquity moves swiftly to vengeance. | Так говорить Господь: утримай голос твій від ридання і очі твої від сліз, бо є нагорода за труд твій, — говорить Господь, — і повернуться вони із землі ворожої. |

| Shake the head at him, all ye that are round about him; all of you utter his name; say ye, How is the glorious staff broken to pieces, the rod of magnificence! | І є надія для твого майбутнього, — говорить Господь, — і повернуться сини твої у наділи свої. |

| Come down from thy glory, and sit down in a damp place: Dæbon shall be broken, because Moab is destroyed: there has gone up against thee one to ravage thy strong-hold. | Чую Єфрема, який плаче: «Ти покарав мене, і я покараний, як телець неприборканий; наверни мене, і навернуся, бо Ти Господь Бог мій. |

| Stand by the way, and look, thou that dwellest in Arer; and ask him that is fleeing, and him that escapes, and say, What has happened? | Коли я був навернений, я каявся, і коли був напоумлений, бив себе по стегнах; я був посоромлений, я був знічений, тому що ніс неславу юности моєї». |

| Moab is put to shame, because he is broken: howl and cry; proclaim in Arnon, that Moab has perished. | Чи не дорогий у Мене син Єфрем? чи не улюблене дитя? бо, як тільки заговорю про нього, завжди з любов’ю згадую про нього; нутро Моє обурюється за нього; змилосерджуся над ним, — говорить Господь. |

| And judgment is coming against the land of Misor, upon Chelon, and Rephas, and Mophas, | Постав собі дороговкази, постав собі стовпи, поверни серце твоє на дорогу, на путь, якою ти йшла; повертайся, діво Ізраїлева, повертайся у ці міста твої. |

|
| and upon Dæbon, and upon Nabau, and upon the house of Dæthlathaim, | Чи довго тобі блукати, відпала дочко? Бо Господь сотворить на землі щось нове: жона спасе чоловіка. |
|

| and upon Cariathaim, and upon the house of Gæmol, and upon the house of Maon, | Так говорить Господь Саваоф, Бог Ізраїлів: надалі, коли Я поверну полон їх, будуть говорити на землі Іуди й у містах його це слово: «нехай благословить тебе Господь, оселя правди, гора свята!» |

| and upon Carioth, and upon Bosor, and upon all the cities of Moab, far and near. | Й оселиться на ній Іуда й усі міста його разом, хлібороби і ті, що ходять зі стадами. |

| The horn of Moab is broken, and his arm is crushed. | Бо Я напою душу стомлену і насичу всяку душу скорботну. |

|
| Make ye him drunk; for he has magnified himself against the Lord: and Moab shall clap with his hand, and shall be also himself a laughing-stock. | При цьому я прокинувся і подивився, і сон мій був приємний мені. |
|

|
| For surely Israel was to thee a laughing-stock, and was found among thy thefts, because thou didst fight against him. | Ось, настають дні, — говорить Господь, — коли Я засію дім Ізраїлів і дім Іудин сіменем людини і сіменем худоби. |
|

|
| The inhabitants of Moab have left the cities, and dwelt in rocks; they have become as doves nestling in rocks, at the mouth of a cave. | І як Я спостерігав за ними, викорінюючи і знищуючи, і руйнуючи і гублячи, й ушкоджуючи, так буду спостерігати за ними, творячи і насаджуючи, — говорить Господь. |

| And I have heard of the pride of Moab, he has greatly heightened his pride and his haughtiness, and his heart has been lifted up. | У ті дні вже не будуть говорити: «батьки їли кислий виноград, а у дітей на зубах оскома», |

| But I know his works: is it not enough for him? has he not done thus? | але кожен буде помирати за своє власне беззаконня; хто буде їсти кислий виноград, у того на зубах і оскома буде. |

| Therefore howl ye for Moab on all sides; cry out against the shorn men in a gloomy place. I will weep for thee, | Ось настають дні, — говорить Господь, — коли Я укладу з домом Ізраїля і з домом Іуди новий завіт, |

| O vine of Aserema, as with the weeping of Jazer: thy branches are gone over the sea, they reached the cities of Jazer: destruction has come upon thy fruits, and upon thy grape-gatherers. | не такий завіт, який Я уклав з батьками їхніми у той день, коли узяв їх за руку, щоб вивести їх із землі Єгипетської; той завіт Мій вони порушили, хоч Я залишався у союзі з ними, — говорить Господь. |

| Joy and gladness have been utterly swept off the land of Moab: and though there was wine in thy presses, in the morning they trod it not, neither in the evening did they raise the cry of joy. | Але ось завіт, який Я укладу з домом Ізраїлевим після тих днів, — говорить Господь: вкладу закон Мій у нутрощі їх і на серцях їхніх напишу його, і буду їм Богом, а вони будуть Моїм народом. |

| From the cry of Esebon even to Ætam their cities uttered their voice, from Zogor to Oronaim, and their tidings as a heifer of three years old, for the water also of Nebrin shall be dried up. | І вже не будуть учити один одного, брат брата, і говорити: «пізнайте Господа», бо усі самі будуть знати Мене, від малого до великого, — говорить Господь, — тому що Я прощу беззаконня їхні і гріхів їхніх уже не пом’яну більше. |

| And I will destroy Moab, saith the Lord, as he comes up to the altar, and burns incense to his gods. | Так говорить Господь, Який дав сонце для освітлення вдень, устави місяцю і зіркам для освітлення вночі, Який збурює море, так що хвилі його ревуть; Господь Саваоф — ім’я Йому. |

| Therefore the heart of Moab shall sound as pipes, my heart shall sound as a pipe for the shorn men; forasmuch as what every man has gained has perished from him. | Якщо ці устави перестануть діяти переді Мною, — говорить Господь, — то і плем’я Ізраїлеве перестане бути народом переді Мною назавжди. |

| They shall all have their heads shaved in every place, and every beard shall be shaved; and all hands shall beat the breasts, and on all loins shall be sackcloth. | Так говорить Господь: якщо небо може бути виміряне вгорі, й основи землі досліджені внизу, то і Я відкину все плем’я Ізраїлеве за все те, що вони робили, — говорить Господь. |

| And on all the housetops of Moab, and in his streets shall be mourning: for I have broken him, saith the Lord, as a vessel, which is useless. | Ось, настають дні, — говорить Господь, — коли місто впорядковане буде на славу Господа від вежі Анамеїла до воріт наріжних, |

| How has he changed! how has Moab turned his back! Moab is put to shame, and become a laughing-stock, and an object of anger to all that are round about him. | і землемірний шнур піде далі прямо до пагорба Гарива й обійде Гоаф. |

|
| For thus said the Lord; | І вся долина трупів і попелу, і все поле до потоку Кедрона, до рогу кінських воріт на схід, буде святинею Господа; не зруйнується і не розпадеться повіки. |

|
| Carioth is taken, and the strong-holds have been taken together. | |
|
42
|
|
| And Moab shall perish from being a multitude, because he has magnified himself against the Lord. | |
|
43
|
|
| A snare, and fear, and the pit, are upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab. | |
|
44
|
|
| He that flees from the terror shall fall into the pit, and he that comes up out of the pit shall even be taken in the snare: for I will bring these things upon Moab in the year of their visitation. |
