| Thus said the Lord; Make to thyself bonds and yokes, and put them about thy neck, | так говорить Господь, Бог Ізраїлів: йди і скажи Седекії, царю Юдейському, і скажи йому: так говорить Господь: ось, Я віддаю місто це у руки царя Вавилонського, і він спалить його вогнем; |

| and thou shalt send them to the king of Idumea, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the children of Ammon, and to the king of Tyre, and to the king of Sidon, by the hands of their messengers that come to meet them at Jerusalem to Sedekias king of Juda. | і ти не уникнеш руки його, але неодмінно будеш узятий і відданий у руки його, і очі твої побачать очі царя Вавилонського, і вуста його будуть говорити до твоїх вуст, і підеш у Вавилон. |

| And thou shalt commission them to say to their lords, Thus said the Lord God of Israel; Thus shall ye say to your lords; | Утім, слухай слово Господнє, Седекіє, царю Юдейський! так говорить Господь про тебе: ти не помреш від меча; |

| I have made the earth by my great power, and with my high arm, and I will give it to whomsoever it shall seem good in mine eyes. | ти помреш у мирі, і як для батьків твоїх, попередніх царів, які були раніше тебе, спалювали при похованні пахощі, так спалять і для тебе й оплачуть тебе: «горе, государю!», бо Я вирік це слово, — говорить Господь. |

| I gave the earth to Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon to serve him, and the wild beasts of the field to labour for him. | Єремія пророк усі слова ці переказав Седекії, царю Юдейському, в Єрусалимі. |

| And the nation and kingdom, all that shall not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, with sword and famine will I visit them, saith the Lord, until they are consumed by his hand. | Слово, яке було до Єремії від Господа після того, як цар Седекія уклав завіт з усім народом, який був у Єрусалимі, щоб оголосити свободу, |

| And hearken ye not to your false prophets, nor to them that divine to you, nor to them that foretel events by dreams to you, nor to your auguries, nor your sorcerers, that say, Ye shall by no means work for the king of Babylon: | щоб кожен відпустив на волю раба свого і рабиню свою, єврея та єврейку, щоб ніхто з них не тримав у рабстві юдея, брата свого. |

| for they prophesy lies to you, to remove you far from your land. | І послухалися усі князі і весь народ, які вступили у завіт, щоб відпустити кожному раба свого і кожному рабиню свою на волю, щоб не тримати їх надалі у рабах, — і послухалися і відпустили; |

| But the nation which shall put its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, I will even leave it upon its land, and it shall serve him, and dwell in it. | але після того, роздумавши, стали брати назад рабів і рабинь, яких відпустили на волю, і примусили їх бути рабами і рабинями. |

| I spoke also to Sedekias king of Juda according to all these words, saying, Put your neck into the yoke, | І було слово Господнє до Єремії від Господа: |

| and serve the king of Babylon. For they prophesy unrighteous words to you, | «наприкінці сьомого року відпускайте кожен брата свого, єврея, який продав себе тобі; нехай він працює на тебе шість років, а потім відпусти його від себе на волю»; але батьки ваші не послухали Мене і не прихилили вуха свого. |

| for I sent them not, saith the Lord; and they prophesy in my name unjustly, that I might destroy you, and ye should perish, and your prophets, who unrighteously prophesy lies to you. | Ви нині навернулися і зробили справедливо перед очима Моїми, оголосивши кожен волю ближньому своєму, й уклали переді Мною завіт у домі, над яким наречене ім’я Моє; |

| I spoke to you, and to all this people, and to the priests, saying, Thus said the Lord; Hearken not to the words of the prophets that prophesy to you, saying, Behold, the vessels of the Lord's house shall return from Babylon: for they prophesy to you unrighteous words. I sent them not. | але потім роздумали і знеславили ім’я Моє, і повернули до себе кожен раба свого і кожен рабиню свою, яких відпустили на волю, куди душі їх завгодно, і примушуєте їх бути у вас рабами і рабинями. |

| If they are prophets, and if the word of the Lord is in them, let them meet me, for thus has the Lord said. | і віддам тих, що переступили завіт Мій і не устояли у словах завіту, який вони уклали перед лицем Моїм, розсікши тельця надвоє і пройшовши між розсіченими частинами його, |

|
| And as for the remaining vessels, | князів юдейських і князів єрусалимських, євнухів і священиків і увесь народ землі, який проходив між розсіченими частинами тельця, — |

|
| which the king of Babylon took not, when he carried Jechonias prisoner out of Jerusalem, | віддам їх до рук ворогів їхніх і до рук тих, що шукають душí їх, і трупи їхні будуть споживою птахам небесним і звірам земним. |
|

|
| they shall go into Babylon, saith the Lord. | Ось, Я дам повеління, — говорить Господь, — і поверну їх до цього міста, і вони нападуть на нього, і візьмуть його, і спалять його вогнем, і міста Юдеї зроблю пустелею безлюдною. |
