These are the miscellaneous instructions of Solomon, which the friends of Ezekias king of Judea copied out.	Сїѧ̑ при̑тчи соломѡ̑ни бы́вшыѧ нерасположє́нны, ꙗ҆̀же списа́ша дрꙋ́зїе є҆зекі́и царѧ̀ і҆ꙋде́йска.

The glory of God conceals a matter: but the glory of a king honours business.	Сла́ва бж҃їѧ кры́етъ сло́во, сла́ва же царе́ва почита́етъ повелѣ̑нїѧ є҆гѡ̀.

Heaven is high, and earth is deep, and a king's heart is unsearchable.	Не́бо высоко̀, землѧ́ же глꙋбока̀: се́рдце же царе́во неѡбличи́телно.

Beat the drossy silver, and it shall be made entirely pure.	Кꙋ́й неискꙋше́нное сребро̀, и҆ ѡ҆чи́ститсѧ чи́сто всѐ.

Slay the ungodly from before the king, and his throne shall prosper in righteousness.	Оу҆бива́й нечести̑выѧ ѿ лица̀ царе́ва, и҆ и҆спра́витсѧ въ пра́вдѣ престо́лъ є҆гѡ̀.

Be not boastful in the presence of the king, and remain not in the places of princes;	Не горди́сѧ пред̾ лице́мъ царе́вымъ и҆ на мѣ́стѣ си́льныхъ не ста́ни:

for it is better for thee that it should be said, Come up to me, than that one should humble thee in the presence of the prince; speak of that which thine eyes have seen.	лꙋ́чше бо тѝ є҆́сть, є҆гда̀ рече́тъ: взы́ди ко мнѣ̀: не́жели смири́тисѧ тебѣ̀ пред̾ лице́мъ си́льнагѡ.

Get not suddenly into a quarrel, lest thou repent at last.	Ꙗ҆̀же ви́дѣста ѻ҆́чи твоѝ, глаго́ли. Не впа́дай въ тѧ́жбꙋ ско́рѡ, да не раска́ешисѧ по́слѣжди, є҆гда̀ тебѣ̀ досади́тъ дрꙋ́гъ тво́й.

Whenever thy friend shall reproach thee, retreat backward, despise him not;	Встꙋпа́й вспѧ́ть, не нерадѝ, да не поно́ситъ оу҆́бѡ тебѣ̀ дрꙋ́гъ:
10	10
lest thy friend continue to reproach thee, so thy quarrel and enmity shall not depart, but shall be to thee like death.	сва́ра же твоѧ̀ и҆ вражда̀ твоѧ̀ не ѿстꙋ́питъ, но бꙋ́детъ тѝ ра́вна со сме́ртїю. Благода́ть и҆ любы̀ свобожда́етъ, въ ни́хже оу҆твердѝ себѐ, да не въ поноше́нїи бꙋ́деши, но сохранѝ пꙋти̑ твоѧ̑ до́брѣ оу҆стро́єны.

Favour and friendship set a man free, which do thou keep for thyself, lest thou be made liable to reproach; but take heed to thy ways peaceably.

As a golden apple in a necklace of sardius, so is it to speak a wise word.	(Ꙗ҆́коже) ꙗ҆́блоко зла́то во оу҆серѧ́зи сарді́йскагѡ ка́мене, си́це рещѝ сло́во при прили́чныхъ є҆мꙋ̀.

In an ear-ring of gold a precious sardius is also set; so is a wise word to an obedient ear.	И҆ (ꙗ҆́коже) во оу҆серѧ́зь златы́й сарді́йскїй ка́мень многоцѣ́нный вѧ́жетсѧ, (си́це) сло́во премꙋ́дро во оу҆́хо благопослꙋ́шно.

As a fall of snow in the time of harvest is good against heat, so a faithful messenger refreshes those that send him; for he helps the souls of his employers.	Ꙗ҆́коже и҆схо́дище снѣ́га въ жа́твꙋ зно́ѧ по́льзꙋетъ, та́кѡ вѣ́стникъ вѣ́ренъ посла́вшихъ є҆го̀: дꙋ́шы бо оу҆потреблѧ́ющихъ є҆го̀ по́льзꙋетъ.

As winds and clouds and rains are most evident objects, so is he that boasts of a false gift.	Ꙗ҆́коже вѣ́три и҆ ѡ҆́блацы и҆ дожде́ве ꙗ҆влѧ́ющїисѧ, та́кѡ и҆ хва́лѧщїйсѧ ѡ҆ даѧ́нїи ло́жнѣмъ.
15	15
In long-suffering is prosperity to kings, and a soft tongue breaks the bones.	Въ долготерпѣ́нїи благополꙋ́чїе царє́мъ: ѧ҆зы́къ же мѧ́кокъ сокрꙋша́етъ кѡ́сти.
16	16
Having found honey, eat only what is enough, lest haply thou be filled, and vomit it up.	Ме́дъ ѡ҆брѣ́тъ ꙗ҆́ждь оу҆мѣ́реннѡ, да не ка́кѡ пресыще́нъ и҆зблюе́ши.
17	17
Enter sparingly into thy friend's house, lest he be satiated with thy company, and hate thee.	Не оу҆чаща́й вноси́ти но́гꙋ твою̀ ко дрꙋ́гꙋ твоемꙋ̀, да не когда̀ насы́щьсѧ тебє̀, возненави́дитъ тѧ̀.

As a club, and a dagger, and a pointed arrow, so also is a man who bears false witness against his friend.	Дреко́ль и҆ ме́чь и҆ стрѣла̀ ѻ҆стра̀, та́кѡ и҆ мꙋ́жъ свидѣ́телствꙋѧй на дрꙋ́га своего̀ свидѣ́телство ло́жное.

The way of the wicked and the foot of the transgressor shall perish in an evil day.	Пꙋ́ть ѕла́гѡ и҆ нога̀ законопрестꙋ́пнагѡ поги́бнꙋтъ въ де́нь ѕо́лъ.
20	20
As vinegar is bad for a sore, so trouble befalling the body afflicts the heart.	Ꙗ҆́коже ѻ҆́цетъ неполе́зенъ вре́дꙋ и҆ ды́мъ ѻ҆чи́ма, та́кѡ припа́дшаѧ стра́сть въ тѣлесѝ се́рдце ѡ҆скорблѧ́етъ.

As a moth in a garment, and a worm in wood, so the grief of a man hurts the heart.
21	21
If thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink;	Ꙗ҆́коже мо́лїе въ ри́зѣ и҆ че́рвїе въ дре́вѣ, та́кѡ печа́ль мꙋ́жꙋ вреди́тъ се́рдце.
22	22
for so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the Lord shall reward thee with good.	А҆́ще а҆́лчетъ вра́гъ тво́й, оу҆хлѣ́би є҆го̀: а҆́ще ли жа́ждетъ, напо́й є҆го̀:
23	23
The north wind raises clouds; so an impudent face provokes the tongue.	сїе́ бо творѧ̀, оу҆́глїе ѻ҆́гненное собира́еши на главꙋ̀ є҆гѡ̀, гдⷭ҇ь же возда́стъ тебѣ̀ бл҃га̑ѧ.

It is better to dwell on a corner of the roof, than with a railing woman in an open house.	Вѣ́тръ сѣ́верный воздвиза́етъ ѡ҆́блаки, лице́ же безстꙋ́дно ѧ҆зы́къ раздража́етъ.
25	25
As cold water is agreeable to a thirsting soul, so is a good message from a land far off.	Лꙋ́чше жи́ти во оу҆́глѣ непокры́тѣмъ, не́же во хра́минѣ ѻ҆́бщей со жено́ю клеветли́вою.

As if one should stop a well, and corrupt a spring of water, so is it unseemly for a righteous man to fall before an ungodly man.	Ꙗ҆́коже вода̀ стꙋде́наѧ дꙋшѝ жа́ждꙋщей благопрїѧ́тна, та́кѡ вѣ́сть блага́ѧ ѿ землѝ и҆здале́ча.

It is not good to eat much honey; but it is right to honour venerable sayings.	Ꙗ҆́коже а҆́ще кто̀ и҆сто́чникъ загражда́етъ и҆ и҆схо́дище воды̀ гꙋби́тъ, та́кѡ не лѣ́по првⷣникꙋ па́сти пред̾ нечести́вымъ.

As a city whose walls are broken down, and which is unfortified, so is a man who does anything without counsel.	Ꙗ҆́сти ме́дъ мно́гѡ не добро̀: почита́ти же подоба́етъ словеса̀ сла̑вна.
