Chapter 14	Глава 14

And Chiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar timbers, and masons, and carpenters, to build a house for him.	І послав Хирам, цар Тирський, до Давида послів, і кедрові дерева, і мулярів, і теслярів, щоб побудувати йому дім.

And David knew that the Lord had designed him to be king over Israel; because his kingdom was highly exalted, on account of his people Israel.	Коли довідався Давид, що утвердив його Господь царем над Ізраїлем, що піднесено високо царство його, заради народу його Ізраїля,

And David took more wives in Jerusalem: and there were born to David more sons and daughters.	тоді взяв Давид ще дружин в Єрусалимі, і породив Давид ще синів і дочок.

And these are the names of those that were born, who were born to him in Jerusalem; Samaa, Sobab, Nathan, and Solomon,	І ось імена народжених у нього в Єрусалимі: Самус, Совав, Нафан, Соломон,

and Baar, and Elisa, and Eliphaleth,	Евеар, Елисуа, Елфалет,

and Nageth, and Naphath, and Japhie,	Ногах, Нафек, Іафіа,

and Elisamae, and Eliade, and Eliphala.	й Елисама, Вееліада й Елифалеф.

And the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel: and all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard it, and went out to meet them.	І почули филистимляни, що помазано Давида на царя над усім Ізраїлем, і піднялися усі филистимляни шукати Давида. І почув Давид про це і пішов проти них.

And the Philistines came and assembled together in the giants' valley.	І филистимляни прийшли і розташувалися в долині рефаїмів.

And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said to him, Go up, and I will deliver them into thy hands.	І запитав Давид Бога, говорячи: чи йти мені проти филистимлян, і чи віддаси їх у руки мої? І сказав йому Господь: іди, і Я віддам їх у руки твої.

And he went up to Baal Pharasin, and David smote them there; and David said, God has broken through enemies by my hand like a breach of water: therefore he called the name of that place, the Breach of Pharasin.	І пішли вони у Ваал-Перацим, і вразив їх там Давид; і сказав Давид: зломив Бог ворогів моїх рукою моєю, як прорив води. Тому і дали ім’я місцю тому: Ваал-Перацим.

And the Philistines left their gods there; and David gave orders to burn them with fire.	І залишили там филистимляни богів своїх, і повелів Давид, і спалені вони вогнем.

And the Philistines once more assembled themselves in the giants' valley.	І прийшли знову филистимляни і розташувалися по долині.

And David enquired of God again; and God said to him, Thou shalt not go after them; turn away from them, and thou shalt come upon them near the pear trees.	І ще запитав Давид Бога, і сказав йому Бог: не ходи прямо на них, ухилися від них і йди до них з боку шовковичних дерев;
15	15
And it shall be, when thou shalt hear the sound of their tumult in the tops of the pear trees, then thou shalt go into the battle: for God has gone out before thee to smite the army of the Philistines.	і коли почуєш шум, ніби кроків на вершинах шовковичних дерев, тоді вступи в битву, бо вийшов Бог перед тобою, щоб уразити стан филистимлян.

And he did as God commanded him: and he smote the army of the Philistines from Gabaon to Gazera.	І зробив Давид, як повелів йому Бог; і вразили стан филистимський, від Гаваона до Газера.

And the name of David was famous in all the land; and the Lord put the terror of him on all the nations.	І пронеслося ім’я Давидове по всіх землях, і Господь зробив його страшним для всіх народів.
