And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, who had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he was wasting his goods.
|
Сказав же Господь і ученикам Своїм: один чоловік був багатий і мав управителя, на якого було донесено йому, що він марнує його майно.
|

|
|
And he called him, and said unto him, What is this that I hear of thee? render the account of thy stewardship; for thou canst be no longer steward.
|
І, покликавши його, сказав йому: що це я чую про тебе? Дай звіт про управительство твоє, бо ти не можеш більше управляти.
|

|
|
And the steward said within himself, What shall I do, seeing that my lord taketh away the stewardship from me? I have not strength to dig; to beg I am ashamed.
|
Тоді управитель сказав сам собі: що мені робити? Господар мій відбирає в мене управління домом. Копати я не можу, просити соромлюся.
|

|
I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.
|
Знаю, що зробити: коли буду відсторонений від управління домом, хай приймуть мене у свої доми.
|

|
And calling to him each one of his lord’s debtors, he said to the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?
|
І, покликавши боржників господаря свого, кожного окремо, сказав першому: скільки ти винен господареві моєму?
|

|
And he said, A hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bond, and sit down quickly and write fifty.
|
Він сказав: сто мір оливи. І сказав йому: візьми твою розписку і сідай скоріш, напиши: п’ятдесят.
|

|
Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, A hundred measures of wheat. And he saith unto him, Take thy bond, and write fourscore.
|
Потім другому сказав: а ти скільки винен? Він відповів: сто мір пшениці. І сказав йому: візьми свою розписку і напиши: вісімдесят.
|

|
And his lord commended the unrighteous steward because he had done wisely: for the sons of this world are for their own generation wiser than the sons of the light.
|
І похвалив господар управителя неправедного, що мудро зробив; бо сини віку цього розумніші від синів світу в роді своїм.
|
|

|
|
And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends by means of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye shall fail, they may receive you into the eternal tabernacles.
|
І Я кажу вам: здобувайте собі друзів з багатства неправедного, щоб вони, як станете вбогими, прийняли вас у вічні обителі.

|
He that is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much: and he that is unrighteous in a very little is unrighteous also in much.
|
Вірний у малому і у великому вірний; а неправедний у малому, неправедний і у великому.
|
|

|
If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
|
Отже, якщо ви у неправедному багатстві не були вірні, хто ж довірить вам істинне?
|
|

|
|
And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?
|
І якщо в чужому не були вірні, ваше хто вам дасть?
|
|

|
|
No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
|
Ніякий слуга не може служити двом господарям, бо або одного зненавидить, а другого полюбить, або до одного виявлятиме прихильність, а другого занедбає. Не можете служити Богові і мамоні*.

|
And the Pharisees also, who were lovers of money, heard all these things; and they scoffed at him.
|
Чули все це і фарисеї, що були сріблолюбцями, і глузували з Нього.
|
|

|
|
And he said unto them, Ye are they that justify yourselves in the sight of men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.
|
Він сказав їм: ви показуєте себе праведниками перед людьми, але Бог знає серця ваші, бо що високе в людей, те мерзенне перед Богом.

|
The law and the prophets were until John: from that time the gospel of the kingdom of God is preached, and every man entereth violently into it.
|
Закон і Пророки були до Іоана; з цього часу Царство Боже благовіститься, і кожен із зусиллям входить у нього.

|
But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one tittle of the law to fall.
|
Але скоріше небо і земля перейдуть, ніж одна риска із закону загине.
|
|

|
|
Everyone that putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and everyone that marrieth one that is put away from a husband committeth adultery.
|
Усякий, хто розведеться з жінкою своєю і одружиться з іншою, перелюбствує; і кожен, хто жениться на розведеній з чоловіком, чинить перелюб.

|
Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, faring sumptuously every day:
|
Один чоловік був багатий, одягався в порфиру і висон* і щодня розкішно бенкетував.
|
|

|
and there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate, full of sores,
|
Був же один убогий на ім’я Лазар, що лежав біля воріт його весь у струпах
|
|

|
|
and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table; yea, even the dogs came and licked his sores.
|
і бажав насититися крихтами, що падали зі столу багача; пси, приходячи, лизали струпи його.
|
|

|
|
And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: and the rich man also died, and was buried.
|
Прийшло вмерти вбогому, і віднесений був ангелами на лоно Авраамове. Помер же і багатий, і поховали його.
|

|
|
And in Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
|
І в пеклі, будучи в муках, він підняв очі свої, побачив здалеку Авраама і Лазаря на лоні його.
|
|

|
|
And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame.
|
І,голосно закричавши, сказав: отче Аврааме, змилосердься наді мною і пошли Лазаря, нехай умочить кінець пальця свого у воду та прохолодить язик мій, бо я мучусь у полум’ї цьому.

|
But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things: but now here he is comforted, and thou art in anguish.
|
Але Авраам сказав: чадо! Згадай, що ти одержав уже блага твої за життя твого, а Лазар — тільки зло; отже, тепер він тут тішиться, а ти страждаєш.
|

|
And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that they that would pass from hence to you may not be able; nor may they cross over from thence to us.
|
І, крім усього того, між нами і вами утверджена велика безодня, так що ті, які хочуть перейти звідси до вас, не зможуть, так само звідти до нас не переходять.

|
And he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house;
|
Тоді він сказав: так благаю тебе, отче, пошли його в дім батька мого.
|

|
|
for I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
|
Маю бо п’ятьох братів, нехай засвідчить їм, щоб і вони не прийшли в це місце муки.

|
|
Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
|
Авраам сказав йому: у них є Мойсей і пророки; нехай слухають їх.
|
|

|

|
|
And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one go to them from the dead, they will repent.
|
Він же сказав: ні, отче Аврааме! Але коли хто з мертвих прийде до них, покаються.
|

|
|
And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, if one rise from the dead.
|
Тоді Авраам сказав йому: якщо Мойсея і пророків не слухають, то хоч би хто і з мертвих воскрес, не повірять.
