Chapter 6	Глава 6

What shall we say then? Do we continue in sin, that grace may abound?	Що ж скажемо? Чи залишатися нам у гріху, щоб примножилася благодать? Зовсім ні.

God forbid. We who died to sin, how shall we any longer live therein?	Ми померли для гріха: як же нам жити в ньому?

Or are ye ignorant that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?	Hевже не знаєте, що всі ми, що хрестилися в Христа Ісуса, у смерть Його хрестилися?

We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.	Отже, ми поховані з Hим хрещенням у смерть, щоб, як Христос воскрес із мертвих славою Отця, так і ми в оновленому житті ходити почали.

For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection;	Бо якщо ми з’єднані з Hим подобою смерти Його, то повинні бути з’єднані і подобою воскресіння,

knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away, that so we should no longer be in bondage to sin;	знаючи те, що давній наш чоловік був розп’ятий з Hим, щоб знищене було тіло гріховне, щоб нам не бути вже рабами гріха;

for he that hath died is justified from sin.	бо померлий звільнився від гріха.

But if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him;	Коли ж ми померли з Христом, то віруємо, що й житимемо з Hим,

knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death no more hath dominion over him.	знаючи, що Христос, воскреснувши з мертвих, вже не вмирає: смерть уже Hим не володіє.

For the death that he died, he died unto sin once: but the life that he liveth, he liveth unto God.	Бо що Він помер, то помер один раз для гріха, а що живе, то живе для Бога.

Even so reckon ye also yourselves to be dead unto sin, but alive unto God in Christ Jesus our Lord.	Так і ви вважайте себе мертвими для гріха, живими ж для Бога у Христі Ісусі, Господі нашому.

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof:	Тож нехай не панує гріх у смертному вашому тілі, щоб вам коритися йому в похотях його;

neither present your members unto sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves unto God, as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.	і не віддавайте членів ваших гріхові як знаряддя неправди, але представте себе Богові як таких, що ожили з мертвих, і члени ваші — Богові як знаряддя праведности.

For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under law, but under grace.	Гріх не повинен над вами панувати, бо ви не під законом, а під благодаттю.
15	15
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under law, but under grace? God forbid.	Що ж? Чи станемо грішити, тому що ми не під законом, а під благодаттю? Зовсім ні.

Know ye not, that to whom ye present yourselves as servants unto obedience, his servants ye are whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?	Hевже ви не знаєте, що кому ви віддаєте себе в раби на послух, того ви і раби, кому підкоряєтесь: чи то раби гріха — на смерть, чи то послуху — на праведність?

But thanks be to God, that, whereas ye were servants of sin, ye became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching whereunto ye were delivered;	Дякувати Богові, що ви, бувши раніше рабами гріха, від серця стали слухняні тому родові вчення, якому віддали себе.

and being made free from sin, ye became servants of righteousness.	Звільнившись же від гріха, ви стали рабами праведности.

I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye presented your members as servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity, even so now present your members as servants to righteousness unto sanctification.	Кажу за людським міркуванням задля немочі плоті вашої. Як віддавали ви члени ваші в раби нечистоті і беззаконню на беззаконня, так нині представте члени ваші в раби праведності на освячення.

For when ye were servants of sin, ye were free in regard of righteousness.	Бо, коли ви були рабами гріха, тоді були вільні від праведности.

What fruit then had ye at that time in the things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.	Які ж плоди ви мали тоді? Такі, яких тепер самі соромитесь, бо кінець їхній — смерть.

But now being made free from sin and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end eternal life.	А нині, коли ви звільнилися від гріха і стали рабами Богові, маєте плід ваш на освячення, а кінець — життя вічне.

For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.	Бо відплата за гріх — смерть, а дар Божий — життя вічне у Христі Ісусі, Господі нашому.
